LA MORTE DI PITON PER AMORE

L'interpretazione è quella canonica e il riassunto proviene dal capitolo 5 del libro di Laura Anna Macor, "Filosofando con Harry Potter" (Mimesis).

- SETTE ANNI DI GUAI -

Piton è il personaggio piu' sfuggente e contraddittorio perche', se ufficialmente e' schierato coi "buoni", non fa corrispondere a questa scelta un cambiamento di psicologia o una differenza di comportamento. Fin dal primo anno si dedica a salvare Harry Potter lanciando un controincantesimo che impedisce al professor Raptor di uccidere il bambino nella partita di quidditch: eppure Piton odia Harry, perche' è il figlio dell'uomo che lo bullizzava a scuola - James Potter. E Potter fu anche quello che gli porto' via la ragazza che amava: Piton non ha mai cambiato il suo punto di vista.

Il secondo anno, scoperta la gatta pietrificata, sostiene che potrebbe non essere stato Harry Potter ma lo dice come se facesse del sarcasmo.

Il terzo anno nessuno ha ancora capito che Sirius Black è innocente del tradimento dei genitori di Harry e della loro conseguente morte: benche' Piton odi Remus Lupin profondamente, non e' per odio che si oppone all'idea di assumerlo come insegnante, bensi' perche' era amico di Sirius e ritiene che potrebbe avere la tentazione di aiutarlo ad entrare a scuola, per consentirgli di uccidere Harry.

Durante il quarto anno, il Veritaserum che serve a tirare fuori la verita' da Barty Crouch jr proviene da Piton.

Nel quinto anno, Piton scopre che la visione trasmessa ad Harry di un Sirius Black torturato all'Ufficio Misteri era falsa. Pertanto avverte i membri dell'Ordine della Fenice perche' vadano in aiuto dell'esercito di Silente.

Durante il sesto anno, dopo aver ucciso Silente che stava proteggendo Harry Potter, impedisce ai Mangiamorte di torturare il ragazzo.

Nonostante tutto cio', è palpabile la sua avversione per ogni membro dell'Ordine, il disprezzo per individui di sangue non puro, il disgusto per chi cerca e accetta la compagnia di creature "subumane" come lupi mannari ed elfi domestici.

- IL NOCCIOLO DEL PROBLEMA -

< Che valore ha una scelta che non modifica in alcun senso il carattere di una persona?> (Cit.)

La chiave di lettura fornita dalla Macor deriva dal rapporto che ciascun personaggio, Piton in particolare, ha con la morte.

Dopo gli anni di scuola, Lily sposa il giovane che aveva bullizzato Piton e lo fa essenzialmente perche' membro dell'Ordine. Peraltro, lo stesso Piton da ragazzo tendeva a bullizzare i maghi nati babbani, da solo o in compagnia di altri Serpeverde. Non vede in questo comportamento una frattura o una contraddizione, come se Lily fosse altro da se stessa, un'idea della sua mente.

Severus Piton ammette davanti a lei le molestie ad altre babbane ma non ne comprende appieno la gravita'. È maligno, ma non corrotto, in caso contrario mentirebbe. È interessato unicamente ai propri desideri, ma non e' falso; tuttavia il suo è un amore immaturo rimasto ai primi anni dell'infanzia.

Piton diventa un Mangiamorte seguace di Voldemort, in parte per lenire la delusione d'amore, ma anche perche' convinto degli ideali della purezza della razza.

- DUE AMORI -

L'amore per Lily è cio' che lo ha convinto a passare definitivamente alla magia oscura, ma e' la morte di Lily che lo induce a diventare spia per conto di Silente.

Come puo' lo stesso sentimento spingere a due comportamenti antitetici?

La confusione è aumentata dal fatto che il Patronus di Piton è una cerva, come quello di Lily, il che denota sincerita' di sentimenti. Pero' non e' chiaro se lo sia sempre stato o se il Patronus sia diventato cosi' dopo la morte dell'amata, uccisa per mano di Voldemort.

Dopo aver implorato il signore oscuro di risparmiare la donna in cambio del marito e del figlio - inviano - Piton passa i successivi 17 anni a complottare contro il suo vecchio signore, facendogli credere di essergli ancora alleato. E senza dubbio Voldemort ci crede, perche' la loro ideologia condivisa vuole che Lily fosse un capriccio, un desiderio rimpiazzabile da una piu' degna pretendente di sangue puro.

Piton tuttavia non si sposa, ma chiede a Silente che nessun altro sappia le sue reali intenzioni, di fatto gettando fango su di se'. Ancora una volta, non e' con Voldemort che ha un conto in sospeso, ma con se stesso.

- LO SCOPO E LE INTENZIONI -

Se manifestare antipatia verso Harry Potter servisse al suo scopo di spia, egli dovrebbe dimostrare comprensione ed empatia verso il ragazzino, nelle occasioni in cui parla da solo con Silente. Invece il suo atteggiamento non cambia.

Piton si divide tra l'amore infantile - ma puro - l'amore maturo, corrotto e consapevole, e l'avversione per gli altri personaggi, per lo piu' conosciuti negli anni di scuola. L'amore infantile è quello dominato dall'egocentrismo e dal sacrificio chiesto agli altri. L'amore maturo porta al sacrificio di se', ragion per cui è probabile - anche se non reso esplicito - che Piton non avesse Patronus prima di apprendere della morte di Lily. O che ne avesse uno differente.

< Non stupisce che Harry ne rivendichi la centralita' (del Patronus) come testimonianza della fedelta' di Piton a Silente nel dialogo che precede il suo scontro finale con Voldemort. > (Cit.).

- LE NOSTRE CONVINZIONI -

L'odio che Piton nutre per i propri alleati, anziche' diminuire la credibilita' delle sue scelte, sembra esortare a "curare cio' che ci unisce, non cio' che divide". Il filosofo Vaihinger scrisse che le nostre idee e convinzioni non descrivono la realta', ma danno comunque una direzione che migliora la vita. "Comportati come se fosse vero", disse. Piton fa qualcosa di piu', si comporta come se ci credesse, dal momento che anche quella di Vaihinger è una convinzione.

< Egli non si limita a riconoscere la propria parte di colpa ne' acconsente semplicemente a proteggere Harry (...) Non porta solo dentro di se' il ricordo dell'errore commesso, quasi morso interiore che preclude il raggiungimento di qualsiasi felicita', ma sceglie consapevolmente e ripetutamente di confermare la decisione presa a suo tempo > (Cit.)

La morte per amore, invece dell'amore per la morte come era nei progetti iniziali.

Primo is enjoying a peaceful summer day in the sunshine of the abbey gardens. Mountain comes to him with a request for help that he is only too happy to fulfil.

Primo walked slowly along a verge of grass, smiling gently at the flowers blooming in their beds. It was the height of summer, and another beautiful day.  He had foregone his usual heavy robes in exchange for lighter slacks and a shirt; a giggling Sister had passed him in the corridor earlier and complimented his sunglasses. Sunglasses he had stolen back from his fratellino Terzo. For the second time this week. He made a note to himself to get Terzo the ugliest sunglasses he could find for his next birthday.

He nodded and grinned at a small group of Siblings as they passed, all with some iteration of “Hi Papa” on their lips. Stopping at the end of the path, he turned to look back at the garden in all of its glory. Roses, lavender, hyacinths, carnations, and sunflowers, his favourite. Further away, the area for vegetables and the fruit orchards that all helped to feed the abbey. The man watched amusedly as a honeybee floated past and landed in a clump of marigolds. Most likely one from the hives kept by a few of the Siblings. He couldn’t pinpoint exactly when looking after the abbey gardens had become his greatest joy and favourite hobby, but he couldn’t imagine life without it now.

Sighing contentedly, Primo turned the corner to the greenhouses but slowed his approach at the sight of a ghoul crouched over a tray of seedlings. How the ghouls could stand to be outside in their silver masks he didn’t understand, and not for the first time considered it cruel.

The ghoul evidently heard him coming, for their head lifted from looking at the tray to Primo’s steady approach. They stood, and the man immediately smiled. The height could only mean Mountain. The earth ghoul was a secret favourite of his. Not a real secret, he supposed, since they spent a good amount of time working together in peaceful silence in the gardens.

He spoke in his soft low voice as Primo got closer. “What are you growing in here?”

The man looked down, identifying the tiny seedlings. “Lupins. I hope they’ll be blue.”

Mountain hummed. “I always liked the pink ones. They looked so pretty together with the osteospermum you had a few years ago.”

Primo smiled at the memory. “They did, didn’t they? We’ll have to wait and see then.”

He moved to open the door of the nearest greenhouse, letting out the initial blast of heat before going inside. He was aware of Mountain’s lingering stare as he propped open the roof vent to let the air circulate. He let the silence lie for a while before speaking.

“You know,” the man started. “I’ve been an eldest brother for a very long time.”

Mountain tilted his head, in obvious confusion, but stayed silent.

Primo turned to Mountain with a kind look. “And that means I’ve gotten very good at telling when people want something they don’t know how to ask for.”

Mountain froze for a second, then laughed. “I suppose… I was wondering if you could help me with something.”

Primo nodded, turning back to the bench in front of him to organize as Mountain spoke. A little touched that the ghoul had come to him, of all people, for help with something. “Of course, I’m listening. Come inside and take off that mask if you want, Sister doesn’t have to know. I don’t know how you can keep it on in this weather.”

Mountain stepped over the threshold of the greenhouse and unclipped the mask behind his head, pulling it away and wiping at the sweat running down his face. His brilliant green eyes glinted in the sunlight. “Thank you.”

Primo hummed and they lapsed into a comfortable silence for a few minutes. Primo didn’t push this time. Eventually Mountain spoke again. “It’s about Cumulus.”

Primo froze, turning to the earth ghoul. “Is she alright?”

“She’s fine,” Mountain said quickly, realizing that had been the wrong way to start and feeling bad as Primo visibly relaxed again. “Nothing bad has happened. It’s just, with the weather like this, she’s been struggling to sleep at night. Everyone has, but her especially. It’s worrying us to see her so exhausted all the time. She keeps falling asleep during meals, and in mass yesterday. We just… we don’t really know what to do. I know you like to make your own tea, I was wondering if you had any ideas on something that could help her?”

Primo perked up. “Of course! I have a few ideas. Come with me and we’ll sort something out.”

They walked together, Primo listening in silence as the masked-again Mountain talked about how worried the rest of the ghouls were about Cumulus, all the things they’d tried to help her sleep better. He thought this might be the most he’d ever heard the earth ghoul speak in one sitting.

They walked through the gardens for a couple of hours together, Primo taking a break every now and then on the benches he had gotten placed throughout the beautiful area. He showed Mountain various herbs and ingredients, discussed what ones went well together, showed him the best way to harvest them. Then he took Mountain over to a different greenhouse where he kept the empty teabags, and showed the ghoul how to fill them properly.

“And if you ask in the kitchen, the ghouls there can show you where the honey is kept, if you think she’d like that.”

Mountain nodded, clutching the things Primo had given him.

“Thank you, Papa, really. I appreciate you spending the afternoon to help me.”

Primo shook his head, smiling. “I’m glad I could help. Let me know how it goes, yes?”

Mountain nodded. “Of course. Thank you.”

Primo watched contentedly as the ghoul hurried away back to the abbey. That’s the nicest afternoon I’ve had all summer, he couldn’t help but think as he walked back to the first greenhouse where he had met the ghoul a few hours earlier. Movement on the abbey steps caught his eye, and he watched as one of the ghoulettes – Cirrus, he thought – met Mountain half way up, and bounced on the spot at the sight of the ingredients in his hands. She gestured as she spoke to him excitedly, too far away for Primo to hear, and the two of them made their way inside.

Primo shut up the greenhouse and started for the abbey himself, relishing the feeling of the sun on his back. Winter would be here before they knew it, and the abbey would plunge into darkness and ice. But for now, he simply smiled as another honeybee passed him by and enjoyed the quiet serenity of summer.

Come extra di fine giornata (letteralmente visto che è mezzanotte passata ormai), eccovi anche gli annunci di casa Planet Manga, che a quanto vedrete ha già il calendario fatto fino al prossimo Lucca Comics & Games!

 Anche qua, come per Star, non ci sono grandissime sorprese fra le comunque numerose novità. In un angolino, però, potete scorgere anche un paio di chicche di cui abbiamo visto sbarcare qua in Italia le versioni animate (più una riacquisizione che avrete notato in copertina, che non so se possa stimolare più pianto o sorrisi).

Il 1 novembre del 1962 esce in edicola il fumetto “Diabolik”

Diabolik Questo fumetto è stato creato da una donna di nome Angela Giussani, che in seguito è stata affiancata nella realizzazione delle storie da sua sorella Giuliana. Lui si chiama “Diabolik”, ed è il frutto di due geniali intuizioni: quella di celebrare le gesta di un genio del crimine, un personaggio negativo ma che ha un fascino importante ed elegante, facendo nascere in questo senso e avendo anche un grande successo il fumetto “noir”italiano. Questo in un prodotto tascabile pensato per far rilassare i pendolari del treno e degli autobus. Siamo negli anni Sessanta, gli anni dello sviluppo economico dell'Italia. Eppure Diabolik, che è uscito per la prima volta nelle edicole italiane il 1 novembre del 1962, non ha avuto vita facile, anzi tutt'altro. Ha fatto talmente fiasco che il secondo e terzo numero sono usciti a distanza di tre mesi l'uno dall'altro. Il successo di questo “antieroe” venne solamente due anni più tardi, per la precisione nel 1964, e fu talmente travolgente che portarono ad alte tirature dei successivi numeri, diventado un fenomeno di costume studiato addirittura da sociologi ed esperti della comunicazione. Lui si muove sulla falsariga di altri antieroi come Fantomas e Arsenio Lupin, e Diabolik non è da meno di questi ladri gentiluomini. Lui è un ladro geniale che si fa beffe della polizia, e al suo fianco opera, ed è anche la sua compagna di vita, una donna bellissima, con lunghi capelli biondi, di nome Eva Kant, malvagia a sua volta e non meno determinata di lui, una sorta di antieroina in chara veste femminista, anche se lei non lo ha mai dato a vedere. Con il suo successo questo genere di fumetto si è svecchiato e, come ogni moda, vengono fuori neologismi come “brivido”, “diabolico” e terrore”. E' un fumetto a tinte forti, che ha suscitato polemiche a non finire, oltre alle solite ed immancabili censure. Diabolik passa con disinvoltura veramente disarmante dai furti agli assassini, ed ha come oppositore implacabile un poliziotto alquanto tenace, una sorta di commissario Scialoja della serie “Romanzo Criminale”, ovvero l'ispettore Ginko, che cerca sempre di catturarlo ma non ci riesce mai, pur andandoci vicino in diverse occasioni. Alla fine è stato un successo meritato da parte delle sorelle Giussani che hanno fondato ad hoc la casa editrice Astorina, superando la quota di 150 milioni di copie vendute, con edizioni tradotte e diffuse in molti paesi europei, americani ed africani.
