prologue.
—[name] transfers into class 1-a as a foreign exchange student. what a terrible decision.
—overall tws for series; cursing, extreme yandere, gore, sexual thoughts/actions, noncon/rape, horror elements, manipulative tendencies, nonconsensual recording, religious imagery, terrible actions in general, almost everyone here is a terrible person except [name] lmfao, etc.
—tw; cursing, kinda obsessive behavior, weird shit, yandere, nothing too bad yet but it will get SO much worse omg.
★・・・・・・★
“class, we have a foreign exchange student coming in today.”
the students had sat down rather quickly, eyes up and focused on their stoic teacher. at his words however, they all perked up, even the usually uncaring ones.
a pinkette’s – mina ashido’s — hand shot up immediately, bright grin simply inconsolable.
“sensei! was that another lie to get us to train harder?” it seemed she asked what they had all been wondering, aizawa’s usual strategy having lost their trust.
it almost earned a chuckle, but his dead stare remained. “sure. anyways, come on in.” he cast his gaze to the door which promptly opened, leaving the class breathless in anticipation.
“everyone,”
a girl had entered.
a girl whose eyes shone like a deer in headlights.
oblivion incarnate, in a way.
“please welcome [name] warmly.”
they awaited for her to open her mouth and speak, hoped that her voice was as cute as she looked.
“ah…” she fiddled with the ring hanging from her necklace, eyes pointedly staring at the back wall of the classroom. “i’m [name]! it’s nice to meet you all, please be kind.” her japanese was broken, not very fluent. although, that just seemed to pique their interest even more.
a small beep sounded out from somewhere, but no one paid it any mind, so she didn’t either.
applause and murmurs sounded out from the class, and she bowed respectfully before taking an empty seat in the back, mentally thanking the gods for such a convenient seat.
“[name] took the entrance exam back in her country, so she’s still admitted here. that said, please don’t get distracted — let’s just focus on some easy things for today.” aizawa stuffed his hands in his pockets, sneaking a knowing glance toward [name]. now she knew he was doing this for her sake.
as he began teaching, she kind of… zoned out. as an observer of sorts, she wanted to get a feel of her classmates. the fears of not fitting in or getting along with anyone had set deep in her bones, so she might as well try to get over it.
the boy next to her had blond hair, spiky and kind of fluffy-looking, [name] found he gave the impression of a pomeranian, especially considering the oddly angered expression he had. his eyebrows furrowed further at the feeling of eyes on him, so he turned to the girl and raised one.
snarled, bared his canines like the image she prepared prior, “what’re you lookin’ at, huh?”
she flinched out of her stupor. right, that wasn’t subtle at all. at least the teacher didn’t hear the exchange.
“sor—” she began in english, catching her mistake and starting again. “i mean, i’m very sorry. i kinda zoned out.” before turning right back to the lesson (no, she really just decided to observe someone else — what a curious little thing).
he bit back a retort about her shitty pronunciation, instead allowing a grimace to curl his lips, eyes raking down her entire figure. if she got to stare, so did he. he was just petty like that.
truth be told, he hadn’t gotten a good look at her when she was at the front of the room. it felt kind of weird to have the foreign kid next to him, but at least she wasn't an eyesore. crimson hues dragged down from her side profile, to her collarbones, to her… to— wait, n— no, he was just looking to be petty. he was just being his normal self. so why did a bead of sweat roll down the back of his neck? had it always been that hot in the room?
(the ac continued to blast behind him.)
he snapped his neck back to the front, gritting his teeth angrily. he didn’t know what that was just now, and so he turned it into the emotions he knew best. frustration. aggravation.
right. he was just annoyed at her for staring so randomly.
[name] had felt his gaze the entire time, and god, if it didn’t send a chill down her spine. she wasn’t stupid. he was looking so intently — did he plan to kill her or something? just because she looked at him? fuck, it was the worst way to start at the new school.
she took a breath internally, eyes shutting for a second. it’s fine. just make it through the day, and she wouldn’t have to deal with them until tomorrow.
[name] tuned out most of what aizawa was saying unintentionally. maybe the angry boy had set her off more than she thought. she had zoned out, looking out at the clock, counting the ticks of every second.
what she was unaware of, however, was the red dot flashing in and out of existence, a device pointed directly at her from the opposite end of the room.
a golden-haired boy and earjacked-girl snickered, fist bumping eachother at the clean recording.
a bubbly brunette looked over to her friend, a boy with green curls that seemed complimentary with the blond mentioned earlier. she whispered something to him, and the blush was evident on their faces.
two-toned hair shifted slightly as the owner fidgeted with his fingers, unable to quell the uncomfortable heat rising on his face and neck. his ravenette friend bit her lip, face pink, scribbling furiously in her notebook, frantic words that didn’t look much like helpful notes.
matter of fact, most of the class wasn’t paying attention to the lesson anymore. they didn’t care about the easy ‘hero-history’ lesson. no, of course not.
their cute, foreign classmate was way more worthy of their attention.

Chapter 1..
Izuku sat in his room playing video games, gun noises echoed in the small room he was in. It smells of stale chips and it was filled with a variety of games placed neatly on shelves. Izuku’s thumbs jammed onto the controllers buttons, shooting at the targets. His eyes steady and focused, unable to hear his friend call his name from the living as his feet pressed into the ground. His back hunched over in his chair, he focused.
“You know you're a shitty friend Izuku!” A female voice broke through to him, making him lose his focus and in the process making his character die. The TV not helping his now furious state by flashing him in bold words ‘YOU ARE DEAD’.
“CRAP!” Izuku shouted, throwing himself back into his chair and bringing his arms up to rest on his face. He sighed leaning forward, his arms now on his knees as he looked at the ground. The game went back to the main menu as he brought his free hand up to run through his curly green hair.
“You didn't go to the interview I set up for you, again!?” The girl exclaimed, from behind him she leaned her side against the doors entrance, waiting for him to turn and look at her.
Once she realized he wasn't going to she sighed and walked in. Izuku brought his knees to rest in the chair, crossing them as he began to rub his temple with wrist. She walked closer to his chair, but leaned against his gaming stand next to him.
“I practically begged the company for it! You should really show up…for my sake at least.” She stated. Fixing her dress shirt and staring him down in his chair.
He still didn't look at her but he huffed and leaned up to look at the wall in front of him. “Did I ask you to set up an interview for me?” He retorted, making the girl sigh. “Izuku, this is the last time I'm going to try and help you. Everybody’s telling me to stop.” She took a deep breath before continuing, “So I'm letting you know that I'm not gonna help you look for a job anymore.” She crossed her arms, leaning more into the table making it rattle a bit.
Izuku turned in his chair to face his TV again, rolling his neck from side to side, “I didn't ask for your help.” He gripped onto his controller, the girl scoffed, “But you need it! All you do is sit in your house all day. Youre a fucking parisite in here zuzu…” Izuku groaned irritatedly, quickly getting up from his spot and cutting the TV off, he opened his mouth to speak again. “Fine, okay! I’ll leave then!” The girl blinked at how fast he was moving. She smiled teasingly,
“If only we could reboot reality…”
Izuku finally turned to look at her, sweat running down his face from the intensity of him playing his game. He knew who he was talking to but to see her now he confirmed it was sumi. He shook his head a little not wanting to entertain her as he walked to his bedroom door.
“You were better when your mother was still here.” Sumi added, not being able to look at him. Her own comment made herself flinch with hurt. Izuku stopped walking, hearing her talk about his dead mother made his heart hurt. He slowly turned around to look through his room door and at her with a wounded heart now, his eyes trailed to his picture that was hung on his wall. Him and his mom, his moms arm wrapped around him and both him and his mother with big smiles.
Izuku swallowed his spit and turned away, he walked down the stairs with a little force in his step. When he reached the bottom floor he heard a deep voice speak out to him. “Izuku.” The voice says sternly, making him come to a halt, “I don't need you causing trouble for Sumi.” Izuku squinted and turned only his head to face his father. His dad looked back at him, fixing his glasses and giving Izuku the look.
Izuku turned away from him and walked out of the house and down the stairs. He walked down the sidewalk and took his phone out of his pocket and unlocked it going to his messages. He clicked on the group chat between him, FN/LN, and kacchan (Bakugo Katsuki). He clicked the bar and started typing.
Izuku Midoriya
‘Hey, guys, do you wanna meet at the bar?’ 11:32am
He watched as y/n’s bubble popped up indicating that you were typing.
F/n L/n
‘Sure! Why not?’ 11:33am
Kacchan
‘Fuck off, losers!’ 11:33am
F/n L/n
‘Shut up! You're gonna be there anyways.’ 11:34am
Izuku smiled at the messages, placing his phone back in his pocket. He jogged down the sidewalk, now having a destination.
“You're such a dick!” A girl smiled as you walked into the bar seeing Bakugo behind the counter cleaning cups. He looks up and places the cup on the counter. The girl smiled and walked around to meet him, he placed a hand on the counter in front of him and turned his body to face her with a small smirk. They both reach out to each other and lock your lips with one another. His hands trail down to her hips pulling her closer to his body. Both him and her smile into the kiss. He opens his eyes as they kiss and turns to look over to you. “You're late..” He groans, breaking the kiss, “shut up, you don't even work here” you reply, shaking your head in disapproval.
Suddenly the back down is whipped open with a mean force making both of them push each other away, turning to face the door behind them. A man in a suit walks out, eyeing them both. The girl squeaks a little and removes herself from behind the counter, you taking her place and picking up the cups Bakugo had cleaned to put them away.
“Oh!” Bakugo let out a breath. “It's the boss, how are ya?” You said, dryly. The man in the suit sucks his teeth at both you and Bakugos clearly uninterested remarks. “What are you doing here?” You ask standing on your toes to place the puts on the shelves. The man huffs and walks to the mini fridge under the counter to grab a bottle of water. “I just decided to come in a bit earlier.” He answered, clearing his throat. “Oh,” Bakugo shakes his head. “Why are you here at this hour?” You ask this time to clarify what you meant earlier. The man sat his water down on the counter, “I got some business to take care of,” he started, cutting himself off to make a quick turn, raising his fist to punch Bakugo right in the nose.
Bakugo stepped back a bit, caught off guard. He held his nose as blood started to drip from it. You screamed in shock, your eyes widening.
—--
Izuku paced through a neighborhood scrolling on his phone, typing in the group chat again.
Izuku Midoriya
‘Kacchan? Are you there yet?’ 11:59am

!!Random ranting post 😋😋!!
okay so no matter how much fun i have with my silly ships i fucking hate the people who will comment talking about ships mainly i see people do it with aidlyn going “when are we going to get more aidlyn content” and it fucking pisses me off, like the genre is thriller red doesn’t owe anything romantically just because it was going to be canon in the og doesn’t mean it is now especially since it hasn’t been confirmed, its really fucking annoying cause they will bring that ship up with anything even if its a post for a different ship,
ALSO! They are in a fucking traumatic place right now had it stayed it was just everynight they were going to the different dimension i could have maybe seen a ship becoming canon but at this point they are still in the lab and have been fucking experimented on, plus they went through such measures just to get them in the first place so if they even get out they are still going to have to worry about hiding, plus their parents are still in the lab so they have to worry about them, i dont wanna sound bitchy but there just isn’t time for ships right now as thwy are literally going through traumatic shit, if they want ships to be canon that badly go read a romance webtoon??
Like idk i used to be fine with the ship but they *those* shippers made it annoying, i haven’t seen anyone like this with a ship since the 2020 mha fandom istg.
[absolutely no hate to you if you ship it and ARENT like this <33]

Look, it's probably still not time to go really deep into it, but I did mention there are ways this ending where Tomura dies could work for me. Honestly I didn't have much of an issue with chapter 423 itself before the internet's emotional onslaught over it, but now that I'm hearing rumors the chapter was received well in Japan and a number of western fans have decided to couch all their disappointment in racism and rage at the target readership, maybe I should give some cursory thoughts just to counteract the stupid.
Tumblr media
The Bittersweet Ending
Here's the thing. For all the game the bird app likes to talk about how MHA is happy and kid-friendly and not dark and that's bad somehow, it's kind of funny to me how little MHA actually meets expectations in that regard. If I were to divide MHA arcs into categories based on their endings, I would probably have to put the majority of them into the "makes me cry" category. Even arcs where the hero wins with ostensibly happy endings often have absolutely gut-wrenching moments, like All Might's retirement in the Kamino arc, Tsuyu's apology in the UA Dorm Contest arc, and Nighteye's death in the Overhaul arc. I don't think it's possible for me to watch the Sports Festival arc and come out of it with anything but mixed feelings of hope and haunting. Stain may have lost his battle, but his effect on society sure seems to give him the win when it comes to the war. The Paranormal Liberation War arc has a pretty rough ending where there may still be a sliver of hope, but goodness is it a small one.
Sure, some of the teariest moments are a result of happy scenes like Eri smiling for the first time at the cultural festival, but what I'm getting at is that MHA tends to go for more hopeful endings rather than happy ones. And those hopeful endings are often stained by some other tragedy, a price to pay for the hope. Just because MHA isn't full of random death doesn't mean it doesn't contain poignant loss. This was one of its early selling points in fact. MHA's most hopeful moments have always felt so real because the story acknowledges that these things should often play out messily. We've seen the mess, and now chapter 424 has given us a glimmer of hope. The question is now where the story will take us from here.
The Anticlimax
This post has come back for me in the most unexpected way, not gonna lie.
I often hear “anticlimax/anticlimactic” used as a negative criticism, especially colloquially. This criticism assumes an anticlimax is always written unintentionally. But that’s often not the case; anticlimax is actually fucking fantastic when placed in the right hands. And Kohei Horikoshi is a goddamn anticlimax connoisseur. I say he’s a connoisseur because Horikoshi has the gall, nay, the gumption–dare I say the balls to showcase the versatility of anticlimax as a storytelling technique for more than just comedy (although he does also use it for comedy a lot). He dares to use it in action scenes, horror/thriller scenes, and even fuzzy heartfelt scenes, all to the great effect of toying with our emotions. And he successfully has us feel exactly what he wants us to every time–because that’s the point. These aren’t cheap jokes; they serve a purpose! They illustrate an actual, meaningful point about whatever scenario they are used in to make the story more realistic, to combat the fridge logic “well actually” complaints endemic to fandom. Because Horikoshi is a fan himself.
When I write "realistic," I don't mean to apply this quote here to indicate that death (especially for edgy aesthetics) is realistic. I mean to indicate that imperfection is realistic. Izuku isn't a perfect hero. Tomura isn't a perfect victim, and by victim I mean "character for the hero to save." Izuku says it himself:
Tumblr media
A perfect victim for the hero to save would yield to the hero's attempts to turn and save them. They would see the wisdom in the hero's position and 100% change sides to agree with them. Trite.
Doing this runs the risk of erasing the victim's identity that comes before. Izuku never has a perfect answer to all of Tomura's problems with the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku is the same as All Might. He's only human.
[...]Horikoshi has no compunctions using anticlimax in big, important, non-humorous scenes (even if the anticlimax ultimately adds humor to the scene that was otherwise unexpected). This man has no fear. He ends his famously popular take on the tried and true trope of tournament arcs with one big let-down that affects not just the audience but the in-universe characters. [...] You wanna tell me Horikoshi didn’t know exactly what he was doing here? You wanna tell me Horikoshi didn’t know about the fandom war over Katsuki’s hero name? That he didn’t purposefully fucking troll the fandom with this? That this isn’t the single greatest brick joke in the history of published media for its effect both in the canon and in the meta? Fuck you, we’re building up the tension around the most wildly popular character’s hero name reveal for 248 goddamn chapters (that’s five-and-a-half years) just to make it the cringiest fucking thing you’ve ever heard in your goddamn life. His hero name must be the closest audio rendition anyone can imagine shaped like a middle finger and fucking nothing less will suffice. Congratulations, fandom: you played yourselves! You made a war no one could win! Horikoshi could have chosen Ground Zero or Kacchan as Katsuki’s hero name and risked alienating half his fandom either way, but you didn’t realize there was a third option, which of course he took: to risk alienating the entire fucking fandom.
I'm just saying, an ending like this isn't out of character for Horikoshi. In light of this trip down memory lane and Izuku's parallel with All Might in that they acknowledge they cannot save everyone, I'm interested to see what Horikoshi does with this ending whether or not Tomura survives. What sort of hope will he offer?
The extended ending arc
The only real extended ending arc we've had in MHA that might give us a glimpse at the inner workings of Horikoshi's mind is the School Cultural Festival arc. Because of that (and the many other things I've mentioned before this post), I will say there is cause to believe we will have a hopeful ending. Again, I don't know what that looks like. A lot of people seem to have a specific thing they need to have happen to save the story for them, and I cannot speak to those.
Except for Deku vs Kacchan 3, which is what I need to have happen lol. And god does it seem really fucking possible now.

Which of the following ShigaDeku fic ideas sound the most interesting to you?
I have a handful of ShigaDeku fics I've been consistently working on over the past couple of months. I keep switching back and forth and writing out small scenes for each story in order to get a sense of the direction I want to take them in. They're all different flavors of dark romance and hurt/comfort and have great potential. I just can't decide which one I want to write first. Help meeeeeee! 😭😭😭
I need your opinions, ShigaDeku fans! Could you tell me which one of the following story ideas sounds the most interesting or even rate them out of four like 1/4, 2/4, etc. based on your interest? 🥺👉👈
Canon Divergence Soulmate AU
Dark romance, action, hurt/comfort, and psychological drama.
Long-lost childhood friends to mortal enemies to soulmates.
Heroes vs. villains dilemma (fixing systemic issues in hero society together with Hawks + Aizawa + the League of Villains).
Izu and Shiga discovering they're not only childhood friends but also soulmates whose souls are tied to each other for eternity.
Set in canon universe and loosely follows the MHA storyline EXCEPT it actually has a genuinely hopeful ending, gives the League a redemption arc, and achieves lasting changes for society!
Yakuza Stepbrother AU
Dark romance, suspense, hurt/comfort, and crime drama.
Izu and Shiga are stepbrothers through Inko's secret marriage to All For One fifteen years prior to the beginning of the story.
Shigaraki inheritance dilemma (Izu signs away his rights to the fortune away because Inko (on her deathbed) told him to do so in order to protect him from getting involved with mafia drama. Too bad she didn't consider Shiga becoming obsessed with Izu upon meeting him and dragging him into the mafia world anyway). 😅
Yakuza territory war dilemma (because Izu is technically Shiga's stepbrother by marriage, he's threatened strongly encouraged to stay with the Shigaraki family until its safe for him to move out.
Tartarus Rehabilitation AU
Dark romance, thriller, hurt/comfort, and psychological drama.
Izu is a therapist-in-training who believes in rehabilitation for criminals. Shiga is a serial killer incarcerated in Tartarus for going on killing sprees targeting people who are cruel to animals.
Due to one of Izu's co-workers being sick, he's called in to cover for an interview with none other than Shiga himself. By the end of the interview, Shiga becomes infatuated with Izu and refuses to speak to anyone else or release important details about his murders unless Izu is the one questioning him.
Shiga's obsession eventually becomes worse and worse until he breaks out of Tartarus with the help of All For One (because of course he does) and Izu is like, well shit, time to go into hiding!
Paranormal Fantasy AU
Dark romance, paranormal fantasy, hurt/comfort, and horror.
Izu is a mystic who specializes in healing medicine for immortal beings like vampires, lycans, shapeshifters, mages, certain kinds of demons, undead, cursed beings, and of course, all of the supernatural hunters who get hurt keeping these beings in line.
Shiga is a hybrid of unknown origin (haven't decided if he's going to be a half-demon or half-vampire yet) who gets grievously injured one day defending his territory from an opposing coven leader.
Dabi drags Shiga to Izu's remote cottage and demands that the mystics heal his coven leader or he'll slaughter him right then and there. Izu, never being able to deny someone in need of healing, decides that he'll heal Shiga as long as his coven provides protection while he stays in their territory, and Dabi agrees.
Over the course of a week, Shiga stays in Izu's cottage with him as Izu slowly uses his magic to heal Shiga's wounds. Shiga spends the entire time obsessively taking in every detail of Izu's life, trying to figure out why he's on the run and how Shiga can make Izu join his coven and make him stay with Shiga forever.
Pretty please let me know which one of these story ideas you liked the most! My ADHD brain is really struggling with which one to go for, so I would really appreciate your opinion on these. 💚💚💚

If you could write an MHA rewrite, what arcs would you redo and how would you develop certain characters like Katsuki and Izuku?
I've discussed some of this elsewhere but I don't feel like tracking it down again.
For the plot rewrite, I'd leave everything mostly the same up until Kamino. I'd introduce Stain earlier, via a news broadcast or Izuku's fanboy hobby having him see articles about him. I'd also plant seeds about the HPSC sooner, like having Stain explicitly sentenced to Tartarus without trial. I'd also find a way to namedrop Lady Nagant sooner as someone in Tartarus who used to be a Pro Hero. I'd also have Detnerat appear a few times, in advertisements or at the shopping mall, etc. Maybe Hatsume can mention them and call them hacks or something.
As for the more substantial changes, we start at Kamino Ward, where All For One would launch some kind of desperation move against All Might that results in his own death, or otherwise be similarly fatally hoist by his own petard.
Then I'd start getting a bit crazy.
With All For One dead, there's suddenly a massive criminal power vacuum. Overhaul's arc can stay mostly the same, but other criminals and groups should be plotting and acting as well--such as the Meta Liberation Army, who we would be indirectly introduced to early as a shadowy criminal conspiracy with serious money and ties.
There would be no Quirk transfer; Shigaraki would take over the League, find his own motivation and go from a screaming manchild to a Well-Intentioned Extremist shifting his focus away from All Might and UA to Hero Society as a whole, targeting the HPSC or Top Heroes, or other similar symbols of society.
The final battle between Midoriya and Shigaraki would happen during a showdown between multiple Villain factions vying for the power and influence left behind by AFO and the Heroes attempts to stop them. This would end the first year.
With AFO dead and the League defeated, the Second Year starts out much calmer, we get some more worldbuilding, the Work Studies are back, everyone's happily talking about what they've learned--and we smash cut to Re-Destro murdering a Pro Hero. Ideally one we've been introduced to before but not a major character. Someone like Native or Manual, that we've only really seen in passing.
The audience is finally introduced properly to the Meta Liberation Army, who up until now have been supply Support Gear to the previous Villain Groups but staying out of the fighting. With pretty much all of their opposition gone, they move to seize the criminal underground and massive political clout in the public. Trumpet campaigns for the Diet. MHA becomes a conspiracy thriller as the MLA's enemies are targeted for assassination and multiple 'unconnected' groups move with their gear and backing.
This arc has a major theme about Quirklessness and Quirkless discrimination, and the effects its had on Midoriya and Bakugou.
Eventually, the Heroes are able to track the conspiracy back to the MLA--thanks to Hawks spying for the HPSC--and raid Deika City for the final battle, and Re-Destro gets wrecked by a joint effort of Heroes he dismissed as weaklings with pathetic Quirks or something. End Year Two.
Year Three, their final year at UA, and the HPSC is sweating bullets, and all the planted seeds about their shady shit pays off in full. The HPSC goes full authoritarian, cracking down on personal freedoms in the name of their definition of Safety. Shit goes to hell in a handbasket. Hawks is suddenly a major antagonist. 1-A (now 3-A) is forced to go on the run to avoid arrest.
This arc focuses a lot on the nature of Justice and is far more blatant about its societal commentary.
In the end, Midoriya becomes the Greatest Hero by defeating Hawks and apprehending the HPSC President for her various crimes against humanity.
Smash cut to seven years later for the epilogue showing some about the new society and how it's better, while seeing where all the characters ended up. Namely, they're all getting together to throw a big party to celebrate that Eri (now 15) has been accepted into UA.
As for the character arcs, there's only a few things I'd tweak. I'd have Bakugou acknowledge his similarities to Endeavor at his worst and his not-exactly Heroic tendencies about murdering Midoriya, and rework his apology to take more responsibility and not do it in front of a crowd. Bakugou would also lose in the Ground Beta fight or whatever rematch replaces it.
Midoriya's fine, though I'd add more about how his past has fucked him up and makes him assume things about people based on those experiences, such as 'teachers always hate me' and 'no one could possibly like me.'

Mind Games Chapter 4
Tumblr media
Chapter 4: I Like Her
See Chapter 1 for trigger warnings, rating, etc.
Added TW: Discussion of suicide
Chapter 5: Imagine It
~~~~~
“Eri wasn’t supposed to be here, originally,” Mirio explained to you, both of you sitting across from one another in chairs. Eri stood next to him, wrapping her arms around one of his biceps. “I was sort of tasked with babysitting.”
“Don’t worry about it,” you responded. “I feel indifferent when it comes to kids. I try not to let my personal experiences with them sway me.”
“Awesome!” Mirio replied, throwing you off a bit. What a wholesome response to your monotone statement. “Eri’s a sweetheart! She’s working on controlling her quirk. Which is something I heard you wished to work on, too, is that right?”
“I’m not really sure.” You had just been brought here. Coming to UA wasn’t much different than being taken to an orphanage against your will, or dragged to an insane asylum for that matter. However, you felt comfortably out of place here at UA. Aside from the Sludge Boy, everyone had been treating you well. Plus, Eri’s constant innocent thoughts kept bringing a small hint of a smile to your face.
She’s so pretty.
Maybe we could be friends.
I wonder what Mirio thinks of her.
I like her.
Why am I so shaky all the time?
Knowing that your quirk might alarm her, you kept her thoughts to yourself. Mirio’s thoughts were rapidly streaming through his mind at a constant pace. Though, one of his thoughts stood out to you:
Would it be easier if I talked to you in my head?
You nodded, quite pleased with his cleverness.
Great! We can get to know each other this way. Can you tell me more about your quirk? I’d love to hear it! Well, think it? I dunno. Have at it! If you’re willing.
You explained your quirk to both him and Eri, surprised to see Mirio’s smile only slightly falter when you began to dive into the current state of your mind. Your quirk had definitely tainted the way you behaved and thought—and you’d be the first person to admit it.
What is the range of your quirk? Like, how far away can you read minds?
“Ten meters,” you replied aloud. “Anyone above, below, or within ten meters of me can’t avoid the effects of my quirk. Although it’s really the other way around. It’s me who can’t escape their thoughts.”
How many thoughts can you hear at one time?
“There’s no limit, as far as I know. Crowds terrify me.”
And your family?
“Gone,” you lied again. “It’s just me.”
“I’m so sorry to hear that,” Mirio said out loud. “Oop! Sorry!”
“It’s fine,” you smirked. “I heard All Might teaches at this school.”
Indeed, he does! Would you like to meet him? I’m sure he’d have wisdom for you!
“Maybe eventually.”
No rush at all! Nezu told me you wanted to meet Izuku. He’s a great kid! I’m not sure how good he is at controlling his thoughts, though.
“Thoughts are hard to control in this world.”
Lots of things are hard to control! Like your quirk, for example! If you’re willing, I’d absolutely love to assist you in learning how to control your quirk!
“What’s your quirk?” you asked. Almost immediately, his smile vanished.
I used to have a quirk called Permeation. I lost it in a recent accident.
You noticed Eri hold onto Mirio just a little bit tighter.
What do you call your quirk?
You sighed. “Growing up, people called it Mindscape.”
All of a sudden, a head peered into the infirmary. It was Izuku Midoriya. “Hi,” he squeaked. After realizing Eri was running towards him for a hug, Midoriya stepped into the room and knelt down on one knee, catching the girl in his arms. “Nezu told me you wanted to meet?”
You shrugged and said, “I mean...I thought it would be cool.”
Speaking of “cool,” Midoriya was not. His thoughts were flying all over the place.
Okay, Izuku. She can read your mind. Which is totally cool but equally freaky! I mean, we’re not sure if we can trust her yet, like Nezu said, so be careful not to think about One For All and—CRAP! CRAP! I just did! I’m an idiot! Okay, calm down, what would All Might do? No, no, too specific. What would a hero do?
“Chill,” you told Midoriya. “I don’t plan on hurting anyone at UA. I don’t have any real motives at all, actually, so I’d deem myself pretty trustworthy.”
Mirio shot Midoriya a glance as if trying to say something without thinking it.
Sheesh, keep yourself together, Midoriya. I can already tell he’s overthinking literally everything.
“Why’d you want to meet me of all people, Aya?” Midoriya asked, walking Eri back over to you. You were beginning to feel frightened by the amount of people in the room now, and Midoriya must have noticed. “Did I say something?”
“No, there’s just a lot of you in here now,” you said, massaging your temples.
Mirio cut in. “Would you like Eri and I to leave?”
“Please.”
“Okay, gotcha!” Mirio stood up, taking Eri’s hand in his. “If you ever want me to train you in the ways of controlling a quirk, let me know! And Midoriya? Can I talk to you in the hallway for a second?” Midoriya nodded.
You watched them all file out of the room, their thoughts overlapping one another.
Is this ten meters away?
Nah, not quite.
Get over here, I think this might be ten meters.
Okay, we’re—
You sat patiently for a few moments, playing with your hair and scanning the room for anything interesting. Eventually, Midoriya entered, looking as awkward as ever.
“Are you acting this nervous because I’m a stranger or because I’m a girl?” you asked him. “Or because of my quirk?”
All of the above?
No, not that. Just—ugh, be honest, Izuku!
She’ll know if you’re lying. Not that I’d lie to her—okay, here goes.
“Because you’re a new face, I guess, and you wanted to see me, and that makes me a little nervous, um—look, I’ll formally introduce myself,” Midoriya chuckled anxiously. “My name’s Izuku Midoriya, but you’re welcome to call me Deku. Or whatever, really. I don’t have a preference!”
“Cool,” you said. “That Eri girl is really cute.”
“Yeah! She kind of reminds me a lot of you,” Midoriya beamed. “You’re both so unsure but so full of potential! You’d make great heroes!”
“If only I wanted to be one.” Before Midoriya could reply, you added to your comment. “What‘s her quirk, anyway? Eri’s?”
“Her quirk is called Rewind. It’s quite powerful, actually.”
“Oh? That’s pretty interesting.”
“Hey...can I ask you something?”
”Shoot.”
”Why don’t you want to be a hero?”
“My quirk is hardly heroic. It’s creepy and harmful to myself and to others.”
Does she really believe that?
“I seriously doubt that,” Midoriya grinned. “You need to be more optimistic about your quirk, Aya. A quirk is a gift.”
“Deku, what if...” you paused, “what if I told you I escaped from an insane asylum of sorts?”
What?!
Nezu didn’t inform me about this!
What do I say?
Does anyone else know this about her?
Crap, crap, crap—
“Calm down,” you said to him, rubbing your tired eyes. Your quirk had an odd way of keeping you awake, yet you felt most at peace whenever you slept. In other words, you were tired all the time. “They refused to provide me with a room away from the other patients. So if you can imagine, I just seemed crazier and crazier. Eventually I left.”
How did...how did she...?
“How did you manage to do that?” Midoriya queried, resting his chin between his thumb and index finger.
“If I’m able to focus enough, my quirk is good at finding out information,” you stated. “Like codes and stuff. Although it’s really hard to do that when you have insane criminals all around you, constantly thinking about murder and other things.”
“Oh, I’m sure.”
“People like that make me want to strangle myself,” you brought your hands to your neck, causing Midoriya to instinctively reach out. You stopped him. “Don’t worry, Deku. I know that if I did that, I’d just start breathing again the moment I go unconscious.”
He gave you a blank stare.
How can she say that with a smile on her face? I mean, I admire the, um, positive attitude, but...yikes.
You took a deep breath. “I know, I know. Sorry to freak you out.”
Midoriya frantically waved his arms around. “No, it’s fine!” His thoughts said otherwise.
This is totally freaky. Should I tell All Might? Or—
“Why would you tell him, Deku?” you asked.
Crap, I need to get out of here before I reveal something like how One For—NO, DAMN IT, IZUKU! Mirio tried to warn you and you’re blowing it!
Midoriya buried his face in his hands.
“No, please don’t leave,” you commented, staring at the floor. “Let me continue.”
“Sure,” Midoriya replied.
“My quirk also functions as a sort of alarm system. If I can hear thoughts, I know there’s someone within ten meters of me.”
Midoriya fist-pumped. “Sounds sneaky! Although ten meters is a long distance to gauge.”
Her quirk is amazing! How could she hate it?
“Deku,” you looked up at him, “I’d like you to picture something.“
“Okay, what is it you have in mind?”
“Imagine you’re enjoying your day. And then all of a sudden, you start to hear voices in your head. First it’s one voice. Then two, then three—all at once. You don’t know who the voices belong to and more keep popping up in your brain. You scream at them to go away, but in return, all you get are blank stares from the public. And then the voices shift focus. Instead of going on about their own day and their own issues, the voices think only about you. They judge you, ask questions, and refuse to leave you alone—even if you try to walk away.” You paused, Midoriya eagerly waiting for you to continue. “That’s my quirk.”
“Interesting,” was all he commented. You thought he was done speaking, but then his mind started going crazy. His mouth began moving faster than his head could think, which was somewhat new to you. “I can definitely see why your quirk might be so disturbing to you and to others. You’ve been judged hard for it in the past, and I’m sure you had a difficult time managing your quirk when it first manifested. She probably thought she was crazy and didn’t realize it was a quirk at all. Or she just lost her mind dealing with the darkness of others’ minds throughout her day on a constant basis.” Was he...muttering? Did he want you to hear this? “Mirio had issues with his quirk to begin with as well. She should start training with him right away! And then there’s—“
You tapped him on the shoulder. “Deku?”
“I’m sorry!” he wailed. “I do that sometimes.”
You laughed. “Hey, is it possible to arrange that?”
“Arrange what?”
“Working with Mirio. And you, too. To improve the effectiveness of my quirk. I’ve decided that would probably be good for me.”
“Of course!” Midoriya shot out of his seat. “I’ll talk to Principal Nezu and Mr. Aizawa about it right away!” Ecstatic, the boy darted out of the room, waving a quick goodbye to you. “It was nice to meet you, Aya!”
“You too, Deku.”
welc to my blog !!
This blog is dedicated to rewriting mha but with my ocs + with a whole new
storyline ! If you'd like to learn about me then go to my sys/personal blog
@recordalbum
Story info + mc intro under the cut
It's around that time of year where the next generation of heroes step into the limelight in a world full of villains and vigilantes that have super powers called quirks... But there's some unfortunate people who don't have quirks like Kalis Amagi... Or so he thinks he doesn't. Join the boy on his journey to being the greatest hero ever on
↑ OP — genres: same as the original story, psychological horror, thriller
This is going to be more mental health centered than the original so be cautious there will be triggering topics! At the beginning of each story post I'll include a trigger warning along with a chapter summary for those who'll be too triggered to read the actual thing.
it's been years since the great war happened in Japan, many things had happened since then. Class 1-A are official pro heroes along with mentors/teachers at UA, All might and endeavor retired, Nezu was deemed as a liability therefore he lost his principal status. Leaving Tenya iida to step in as principal... Also mineta lost his hero license after getting into a class action regarding several women he's harassed... (Good riddance)
MY HERO ACADEMIA — GEN HOP
Starting stats for characters
Ivan Bochi
age : 14
gender : cis (amab)
sexuality : questioning
pronouns : he/him
quirk : Bloody works
He's also able to manipulate his own blood into weapons and different shapes along with different figures such as webs. He has this little string on the side of his neck. He tugs that and his whole body explodes, he's able to respond by phasing through the body's of others and reforming himself.
drawbacks — Hearing problems (he refuses to get a hearing aid) , sudden urges to absorb/suck the blood out of other people to become more powerful , anemia (iron deficiency specifically)
occupation : student (former middle school student, UA student), part-time dyna-bite waiter
Creator's note : I can't wait to draw bro in his work uniform I'm gonna start crying
I made these two a while ago and figured it was probably time to give them their own OC sheet!
Tumblr media
Meet Shōrai and Kako Yogensuru, the Yin-Yang Sisters! Around the time I made them, I was fascinated with the concept of conjoined twins - two people who literally share a body, yet are individuals in their own ways. The MHA universe is kind of quirky and cool like that, so I thought “Hey - why don’t I make my own conjoined twins?”
The twins were born in a small town in the Japanese countryside. Their birth was a surprise, as their parents were expecting only one baby. In fact, their father was so shocked, he exclaimed, “You gave birth to a monster!” and ran out of the hospital room. Neither the twins nor their mother would ever see him again.
Raising conjoined twins wasn’t easy, but their mother owned a small bookstore, so she was able to make enough money to support all three of them. The twins literally grew up in the bookstore, surrounded by authors of all genres. Whenever a new book or series came out, they were the first ones in town to read it.
Despite being surrounded by books most of their lives, their mother still wanted them to have a normal childhood, so she enrolled them in the local school. Their conjoined body made it hard for them to make friends, and they were teased often. “Freak”, “Ogre”, and “Two Head” were common nicknames, but the few friends they were able to make helped them through it.
When they were in their senior year of high school, their mother’s health started to slip and she was unable to keep up with the demands of the bookstore anymore. The doctor told her that an early retirement was best. The store was the twins’ home, though. They assured their mother that they would take care of the store while she rested. Their mother tried to protest, saying that they still had college to think about, but the twins had already decided between themselves that they wouldn’t go to college. So their mother was moved to a retirement home while the twins took over the bookstore.
True to their name, the twins are polar opposites:
- Shōrai likes bright colors while Kako prefers darker colors.
- Shōrai likes to dress comfortably while Kako thinks dressing for business is best. They alternate each day who chooses their clothing and who chooses their shoes. Shōrai will choose a sweater and sweatpants one day and slip ons the next; Kako will choose a full on business suit one day and heels the next.
- Shōrai enjoys reading fiction and fantasy stories while Kako likes dark poetry and thrillers.
- They only have one stomach, so they eat just about as much as a normal person per meal. Shōrai likes to experiment with different foods while Kako likes to keep it simple and traditional.
Their Quirk is Double Vision. When Shōrai and Kako make physical contact with a person, Kako can see up to 10 years into that person’s past while Shōrai can see up to 10 years into that person’s future. They can’t go any farther than 10 years in either direction, and over use leads to extreme headaches and dry eyes.
This Quirk often got them into trouble in the past, as people in town and school would often ask them to touch them so that they could either get the scoop on something in their future, or remember something important from their past. It happened so often that they started to charge money for the readings, which earned them a small fortune. But people kept asking them for readings despite the fee, which started to take a toll on their mental health, and their mother finally noticed and pulled the plug on the operation.
Their Quirk was mostly why they decided not to go to college in the city. They didn’t want even more people asking them for readings, and they especially didn’t want the details of their Quirk to reach the wrong ears. Word always finds a way of getting out, though. Sometimes a tourist or a passing Hero will come into the bookstore and ask for a reading, to which the twins can either comply or refuse. Shōrai enjoys the visits, saying that their store has become kind of like a side quest in a novel. Kako couldn’t care less about the visits and is just happy if the visitors don’t obstruct their business.
Gotta say, it’s kind of fun making MHA OCs! I have a couple more in mind…
Summary: Hit with a quirk that sends him ten years into the future, Izuku wakes up in a world that is still reeling from the aftermath of his own murder. To his horror, the murder still remains unsolved, with the fourth anniversary coming up in just a few weeks. With his appearance bringing new points of view and evidence to light, it's up to him and the older versions of his classmates to finally crack the case once and for all. An unknown time limit hanging over his head, coupled with the residual emotional trauma that his friends experience at his reappearance are just a few bumps in the road that they have to get over, lest the case remain unsolved forever.
Author: @bbbeachbabe
Note from submitter: This one of my all-time favorite MHA fics! Love a good murder mystery/thriller! And the time travel twist makes it all the more fun!
I got into One Piece at the start of this year
and overall I really like it. At the moment I'm in the 800's range of chapters so I'm on Whole Cake Island and I wanted to share my thoughts on it since so much is happening now with the franchise between the manga seemingly headed towards an endgame right now, and the live action's success and confirmation of a season 2. The first thing I'd like to say is that I think I can overall recommend reading/watching it. However, I do have a few problems with the series that I think people should be aware of when getting into it. For one thing it does have many of the issues that plague the shonen genre.
In particular, it has a few issues in its portrayal of female characters at times. However, I will also say that those female characters, while often drawn in very limited body types and facial structures, have easily as quality and engaging stories as the boys in the show. All of them have their own unique, interesting, and emotional backstories that are consistently on par with the men's. However, at the same time, they are also undeniably more prone to sexualization and are often on the sidelines in a lot of the fights, the ladder of which is especially apparent after the timeskip as of where I am now. So, overall I think the depiction of women can be hit or miss but I will also say that it's still a lot better than some of the other big works in the shonen genre, namely Naruto and MHA.
Another quirk I've noticed about the series is that most if not all of its characters definitely suffer from flanderization as time goes on and lose a lot of nuance that they had in earlier chapters. I think there are standouts among the cast of this but it's pretty universal. To give an example, I'll use the relationship between Luffy and Chopper. In chopper's introduction story there's a bit where luffy thinks that reindeer meat would be pretty yummy. Somewhat on brand for Luffy but it still feels a bit out of character. Later on in that same arc Luffy is shown fighting for chopper and defends him for his ideals (see episode 88 of the anime for referene). Later on, however, there are numerous "emergency food" jokes made by luffy that genuinely bother me with how much it feels out of character for him. Like I know that "having all of the food" is on of the reasons that Luffy is a pirate but I would also think that his friends are a lot more important to him than that. Especially with the influence that Shanks had on him when he was younger (spill a drink on my and I can forgive that but mess with my friends and you're fucked etc etc).
The anime also has its own set of issues. The early one piece anime I think got the vibe of the story phenomenally well. The animation and art style is incredibly faithful to the manga and consistently gives of so much charm and vibrance that I think is lost later on, especially with things like the first opening, the soundtrack, and the eyecatches with the wanted posters accompanied by character's musical motif/theme. Where the problem comes in is when these really sweet and charming elements start going away upon the end of Skypeia/G8 and the start of the series' run in a 16:9 aspect ratio. The artstyle has a noticeable change, and the pacing begins to suffer a bit more than it had previously. You can look up what episodes cover what chapters in the manga and early on it was usually a ratio of like 2-3 chapters per episode, sometimes more, and around enies lobby it goes down to 1-2 chapters maybe 3 sometimes, and post timeskip it's one chapter per episode and sometimes 2 or 3 which is why I switched to basically exclusively reading the manga after awhile of bouncing back and forth between reading and watching.
The final issue I really have with One Piece is that the manga's content has a few weak parts. The 3 main ones that I found were Long Ring Long Land (specifically the davy back game), Thriller Bark, and Fishman Island. Two of these actually have something in common, Long Ring Long Land and Thriller Bark both have really really good parts at the end of them. My main thing with Long Ring Long Land is that the Davy Back Game feels like it was made under editor pressure to have a tournament arc. Because it just kinda pops up and never comes back again with very little if any character development or change in the status quo. However, after the davy back game has concluded we get a loooooot of new stuff, worldbuilding, a character introduction, and foreshadowing. Similarly, Thriller Bark is another arc that I wasn't a super big fan of until the very end with the musical number and subsequent conflict involving a fair amount of spoilers which I wont go into now, but just know that my main issue with thriller bark is that I think it should've been a shorter island more in line with something like Whiskey Peak, Drum Island, or Amazon Lily as a bigger part of the Sabaody Archipelago/Impel Down/Marineford Saga. Finally there's Fishman Island. I wont say much since it's post timeskip content and very spoilery, but I think it's a very thematically rich saga that suffers from too many new and underdeveloped characters, and a loooooot of pacing problems not to mention a lot of annoying character quirks and out of character actions of both the straw hats and a lot of the villains and local characters. Luffy in this arc is just really mean to another character for very little reason and it feels VERY out of character to me, and a lot of Sanji's really annoying character traits from an otherwise likeable character come out swinging here. But other than that and a slow start in the manga (which the live actions kind of fixes if you watch that first) One Piece is GOOD. Like, really good.
It's a show that, despite being the kind of premier shonen manga for the past like 25 years breaks from a lot of the genre's tropes. A lot of action manga, including the newer ones like JJK and Demon Slayer all seem to portray the characters in a place within a kind of societal system where they find a place to belong. One thing that One Piece does that I love is that it places its characters in direct opposition to that system. As pirates, the Straw Hats are outlaws being hunted by a system that's consistently portrayed as unfair and unjust. Oftentimes what they do when they visit an island is take down some illegitimate ruler that's been forcibly put in place by forces outside of the people's control. That's not something that happens in normal shonen. In fact, it's usually the other way around. Typically a shonen series villain is someone within or outside of the current system that's trying to change it. Shigariaki in MHA, Suguru Geto in JJK, the Phantom Troupe and Chimera Ants in HxH; all of these villains are bad people in the same position as the Straw Hats in One Piece. It's incredible how much nuance goes into the series villain's place in the worldbuilding. There are heroes and villains on both sides of the story's central conflict of Pirates vs the World Government. Usually the world government is portrayed as oppressive, unjust, and serves to keep the cruelly wealthy Celestial Dragons in power. However, we also see certain agents of this system that are good apples or neutral forces just trying to do good in a bad system such as Captain Smoker, Koby, Aokiji, and Garp. On the reverse side we also have a rogues gallery of pirate antagonists who usually end up being shorter term villains but sometimes evolve into overarching threats such as Blackbeard, Buggy, and a few of the Seven Warlords and Four Emporers. Ultimately the series main conflict is one of Freedom vs Control as well as who deserves to be in power and a leader's right to rule. Overall, I recommend you take the journey through One Piece. It's funny because it really is a journey. If you tell a One Piece fan that you watch or read it the first question they'll usually ask is where you are in it and it feels like that's a mark of progress in an adventure and i think that's really special. Just like the characters in the show, you're embarking on a journey. If I were to give any advice to new readers/viewers it would be to savor the moment you're in. One Piece is a piece of fiction and art that is truly about the journey instead of the destination. Don't worry about "being caught up" take it at your own pace and enjoy the moment you find yourself in and realize just how far you've come and how far you have left to go. Btw, in case anyone asks, my favorite character is Sabo and my favorite Straw Hat is Chopper
Spooky Season
What would you guys think if I started spooky writing a little bit early and did some halloween-type fics? Some actually thriller and some more chill with just the spooky season vibe, but lemme know if that's something you'd like. I know that personally I always eat up some spooky season "I always feel like somebody's watching me" thriller with some ghostface!skz or mha x reader you know. Or just handing out candy to kids on Halloween! Maybe going to some place like Hershey Park or something similar that does Halloween amusment park stuff. Like scare actor type stuff (I'm definitely not talking about fryboy rn).
Long story short, do you like actually thriller haunted house/killer/scary fics or comfy halloween fics for Simptember? I could also probably try to twist some nsfw into there. Let me know!
Luv ya spooks! <3 (P.S. I'm at the window :) )
