"Summer of Superman" Details Released

DC Comics has dropped more info in its "Summer of Superman" publishing initiative for 2025, celebrating Superman's legacy.

The key titles for the "Summer of Superman" are Action Comics, Superman, and Superman Unlimited. Other titles in the "Summer of Superman" include Summer of Superman Special #1, Superman: The World, and Superman's Good Guy Gang. Also, April 18, 2025, marks Superman Day, with it's own list of curated titles.

Summer of Superman Special #1 from Dan Slott, Mark Waid, Joshua Williamson, and Jorge Jiménez is an oversized issue that will tell a story in three acts. "The wedding of Lana Lang and John Henry Irons (a.k.a. Steel) serves as the backdrop for an outpouring of love and support from family and friends. However, their big day will also be big trouble, as threats from the past, present and future will spawn major new conflicts for the Superman family." (DC Comics)

Summer of Superman Special #1 goes on sale on April 16, 2025, and features a main cover by Jorge Jiménez and variant covers by Alexander Lozano, John Giang, Mahmud Asrar, Dan Jurgens, and Chrissie Zullo-Uminga.

Action Comics #1085, from G. Willow Wilson and Gavin Guidry, has Lois Lane sending Superman "to a scientific outpost in the Arctic to investigate a new technology that promises to halt global warming. But when Superman arrives, he quickly finds out that the outpost has been plagued by a villain who plans to melt humanity’s hopes for survival.

Action Comics #1085, featuring a main cover by Brad Walker and variant covers by Davide Paratore, Cully Hamner, and Danny Earls, goes on sale on April 9, 2025.

Superman #25 is an oversized issue from writer Joshua Williamson and artists Dan Mora, Eddy Barrows, and Eber Ferreira that celebrates the last two years of Superman. The issue will connect to Summer of Superman Special #1 and will set up a new storyline. Superman and Superwoman are recovering from their encounters with Time Trapper and Doomsday when Lex Luthor returns ready to fight for control of Supercorp and Metropolis.

Superman #25 goes on sale on April 23, 2025. The issue sports a wraparound cover by Dan Mora, variant covers from Guillem March, Jeff Dekal, Rafael Grassetti, Dave Johnson, Laura Braga, and Fico Ossio, and an April Fools' Day variant cover from Dan Hipp.

Superman Unlimited is a new comic book series from Dan Slott, Rafael Albuquerque, and Marcelo Maiolo. An asteroid showers the globe with Kryptonite. "Intergang, under new leadership, is on the rise, with practically all their foot soldiers carrying at least one clip of Kryptonite bullets on them. The asteroid left massive Kryptonite deposits to be mined, and it houses unlimited horrors yet to be unpacked. To survive, Superman will need to forge new alliances, new tech and new tactics if he hopes to carry on his quest for truth, justice and a better tomorrow!" (DC Comics)

Superman Unlimited #1, featuring a main cover by Rafael Albuquerque and Marcelo Maiolo, goes on sale on May 21, 2025.

Superman: The World follows in the same vein as Batman: The World and Joker: The World as creators from across the globe highlight the Man of Steel. Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks will be joined by 15 international creators.

Superman: The World goes on sale on June 24, 2025.

Superman's Good Guy Gang is a multivolume graphic novel series for early readers ages 5-7 from Rob Justus. Eight-year-old Clark Kent and his friends Hawkgirl and Green Lantern Guy Gardner become friends, start a club, "test their abilities, grow together and maybe even earn some good guy points along the way." (DC Comics)

Superman's Good Guy Gang #1 goes on sale on July 1, 2025.

I answered this way back but I have read a lot more comics since, so I think that it's a good time to revise it. All the links lead to readcomicsonline, so I'd recommend using an addblocker before clicking on them. And please make sure to buy the comics if you can.

✨Jason Todd Comic Recommendations ✨

Pre-Crisis

Pre-crisis Jason was essentially a clone of Dick, down to his dead parents being circus performers, so there is not a lot of this era that I'd recommend, and you can honestly skip this section. That being said:

For The Man Who Has Everything (Action Comics Annual #11): this is not really a Jason story as much as an (iconic) Superman story. It does however mark the first meeting between Jason and Wonder Woman, and he does play a role in defeating the bad guy.

Post-Crisis Robin Era

Main Robin Run (Batman (1940) #408 - #425): this includes the revised Jason origin (aka the one most people know about), Jason's first mission as Robin (ft. Two-Face!), Jason and Dick teaming up for the first time (this Jason and Dick team up got retconned in Nightwing Year One, but imo the original one is much better) and some other Jaybin adventures. My favourites are Bruce and Jason trying to catch a Serial Killer terrorizing Gotham as well as the Felipe Garzonas storyline, which sets the stage for ADITF.

Legends: This is a small event and Jason isn't in it a lot but I really liked it.

A Death in The Family: Jason dies in this one.

Post Resurrection (aka, the Red Hood era)

Under the Red Hood: this is the deluxe edition, which includes the main UTRH sotryline as well as the fight prior to that set during the the Hush story arc and Batman Annual #12, which is Jason's first Red Hood origin (it get's expanded upon later in Lost Days):

Red Hood: Lost Days: Essentially Jason's time between coming back from the dead all the way to UTRH

Teen Titans #29: The Titan's Tower incident. a lot of people dislike this one but personally I though it was pretty fun lol. Basically Jason beats up Tim in the most dramatic, theater-kid-esque way possible.

Green Arrow #69-72: Jason vs Mia Dearden.

There are some stuff set between this and the New52 but I have either not read them (Brothers in Blood, Countdown) or they were bad (Battle for the Cowl). Then there comes the New52 RHATO run (horrible) and the Rebirth RHATO run (not as horrible but still bad) So instead I'd skip to Infinite Frontier and recommend:

Batman: Urban Legends #1-#6: The first story called Cheer has a Jason and Bruce team up. It's not the best but I don't hate it as much as any of the RHATO stuff.

Task Force Z: Jason joins a team made up by zombified Batman rouges. That one was actually good.

Elseworlds:

From the DC Vault: Death in the Family: Robin Lives!: What would have happened if Jason didn't die during UTRH (currently ongoing)

Brian Bolland's recreation of the cover for Action Comics (vol. 1) #583 (September, 1986) by Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson (Swanderson). That was the last issue featuring the Silver Age/Bronze Age-version of Superman before the big John Byrne reboot of the character after Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Bolland's art was used as the cover for the 2009 hardcover book Superman: Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow? Deluxe Edition reprint.

“Death of Superman” Gets Absolute Edition Treatment in New DC Hardcover

DC Comics has officially announced the upcoming release of Death of #Superman: Absolute Edition, a premium hardcover edition celebrating one of the most influential storylines in comic book history.

Slated for release later this year, the Absolute Edition will present the 1992-93 crossover event in a remastered oversized format, featuring restored artwork, never-before-seen materials, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content. MUSIC REVIEW: $ome $exy $ongs 4 U by Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR

As good of a comeback as Drake could have made from his loss to Kendrick. It gets off to a rough start, but around “DEEPER,” the quality of the album increases, and stays pretty good until about “SOMEBODY LOVES ME,”but the beginning is still the worst part. There isn’t a very cohesive sound to the album, and Drake experiments with the idea of acoustic tracks in “DIE TRYING.” Most of the worst tracks in the beginning like “SOMETHING ABOUT YOU,” and “SPIDER-MAN SUPERMAN” have shallower lyrics than the rest of the record. There is also a significant dip in quality in the form of “MEET YOUR PADRE” in which Drake vultures Latin culture in a way that sounds terrible. Some of my favorite tracks include “GIMME A HUG,” “NOKIA,” “DEEPER,” and “WHEN HE’S GONE.” Clearly Drake is trying to move on from the beef with Kendrick, stop spiraling, and get back to dominating the charts, which is probably the best thing for everyone.

This is my full DC humour comic reading list. I can't lock notes on my phone, but I honestly wish I could. Because if I add any more to this damned list, it'll stretch for miles and miles. I just have to settle for everything I have here. We have 60s humour comics, some 90s and 2000s tie in tv show comics, some scooby doo/dc crossover stuff, some graphic novels, the list goes on. If any of the things on the list seem unfamiliar, it's probably because I learned of them through either exploring the website I now use for comic reading, or from exploring the DC wikis. I am half tempted to add the other stuff made by the Tiny Titans people to this list, even if it isn't DC. Their artstyle and sense of humour was always so visually pleasing. I adored it as a kid.
