nothing in my mind except neil josten doing those gimmicky interviews
lie detector interview? he lies flawlessly. they ask him what team he’s on to test it and he says the trojans. the needle doesn’t move. no one knows what to do
answering the internet’s most googled question? neil doesn’t give away shit. (“what is neil jostens favorite hobby?” “lying to cops”) every question is answered with some version of your mother or an anecdote about something illegal
hot wings but neil and kevin do it versus each other. it quickly devolves into psychological warfare. neil adds hot sauce to kevin’s wing when he’s not looking
neil takes a buzzfeed which exy player are you the most like and when he gets riko he just walks out
literally any gimmicky pr stunt just dissolves into chaos

Bucky can’t lie
A smutty thot. Imagine the avengers fucking around with a lie detector test, testing how well the super soldiers were trained. Steve failed instantly while stating his own name, blushing from embarrassment. Bucky was shoved into the chair next.
And he was disgustingly good.
The wires were attached to him within seconds, with questions flying left right and center. He crossed his arms over his chest with an eyeroll, answering the most ridiculous questions each person would throw at him.
"What the hell Barnes, there's no way, you can't be serious"
The super soldier smirked, while the others watched the needle scratch on the paper steadily, not a single signal indicating he was lying. It was going great until Tony's eyes lit up with a brilliant idea.
“Wait. Get y/n in here”
You sauntered into the room, scrunching your face seeing Bucky hooked up to the machine, while the rest of the team stared at him intently. The faintest uptick scratched onto the paper making Steve cock an eyebrow while Bucky's expression remained the same.
"What am I doing here and why's Bucky-
"Shh, just stand there. We're trying to see if we can get Bucky to fail a lie detector test. Alright, new question. Is there anyone in this room you've thought about naked" Tony asked while all eyes stared at Bucky, the soldier biting his lip.
"No"
"Hm" Tony nodded, continuing. "Is there anyone in this room you've thought about having sex with"
"What kind of questions are you asking, pervert" Bucky exhaled through his nose, his finger tapping against the seat.
"Just answer the question Barnes" Tony smiled sweetly, grinning when the needle already started to move a little higher than before.
"No"
The needle ticked higher making Bucky huff, ignoring the way his face heated up when you stepped closer to peer at the paper.
"Interesting. Slight deception detected there Barnes, you sure about that?"
"Yes" Bucky forced through gritted teeth, managing to keep the needle from jumping around too much.
"Here, let me" You smirked, pulling Tony away from the seat, gazing into the soldiers eyes while he threw you a cocky smirk.
"Think you can do better doll?" He sassed while you shrugged, the scent of your perfume already making hi sweat.
"Have you ever thought of kissing me?" The needle jolted before Bucky could even open his mouth, making the others screech while Bucky shook his head. "Liar"
"You ever thought about me naked? You like watching me out on the field?"
"No" Bucky's pulse raced, his pants starting to feel too tight, the test scribbling wildly.
"Okay this mf lying" Sam snorted while Bucky's flushed cheeks grew hotter.
"Really? You ever think about me on my knees for you? Sucking your cock?"
"No" The needle nearly jolted off the sheet, making Tony cackle, clapping his hands madly while Steve blushed and chuckled, torn between watching his best friend's walls crumble and running out of the room with your questions getting filthier and filthier.
"You think about cumming down my throat? having me swallow all of you, telling you how good you taste?"
"No"
"You think about having me naked on your bed, soldier? Moaning for you? Screaming your name?"
"You think about stuffing me with your babies Jamie? Getting me pregnant with that serum running through your veins?"
"You want me to call you daddy baby? How about Sergeant"
"Do you want me to be your slutty baby, drip all over your cock"
"N-No" Bucky gritted out again while Sam threw his hands up.
"You're not fooling anyone dumbass, I think you broke the needle" The machine nearly gave way with a high pitched whizz matching Bucky's racing heartrate. You grinned, getting up from your seat, making him pant.
"Do I make you horny baby" You slinked onto his lap, making Bucky finally break his resolve, his hands flying to your waist.
"Fuck yes. C'mere" He hissed, ripping the wires off and tossing you over his shoulder with a spank while Tony peered over at the paper with a satisfied smirk.
"No lies detected"

Oh fuck, you think, pins and needles in your hands you can’t shake. Oh, fuck.
Aaron’s car pulls into the parking lot outside of the doctor’s office, fifty metres away, forty, less. You have about twenty seconds to think of what to tell him, and to conjure a lie he’ll believe. You’re a bad liar when it comes to him.
You’ve thought of him fondly as a human lie detector since you met, apparently because you’ve never needed to lie to him before. As soon as you open the passenger door, he’s concerned. You hadn’t allowed him time to get out first.
“What’s wrong?” he asks, frowning.
“Can you give me a few minutes to think about it?” you ask.
He clears his expression quickly, which would be impressive if you weren’t nauseous beyond words. “Sure.” His eyes soften. “I missed you.”
He’s been away for a few days, and you'd thought it was great timing for him to come home just after your appointment, but now you’re not so sure. Regardless, he leans across the console and kisses the corner of your lips.
You lean down under his touch. The pins and needles fade ever so slightly.
Aaron looks good, you realise, despite the racing heart in your chest. It’s funny how you can think of two things at once, how you can struggle to put together what you have to tell him, and still acknowledge how sharply handsome he looks in his suit and tie. He must’ve been in the office before he picked you up.
“I missed you too,” you say finally. “Really.”
He squeezes your arm.
Aaron turns onto the road out of the doctor’s office lot, past sparse greenery and into the city street that will lead to his apartment. “Is my place okay, or do you need to go home?”
You aren’t sure. What if he doesn’t even want you there when you tell him? Panic flits through you and, evidently, across your face —Aaron catches it from a sideways glance and takes the first left into a quieter street. He parks as soon as he can.
“What’s wrong, honey? You look like you’re waiting for me to yell at you,” he says. His brows pinch, eyes dark as always but not without tenderness as he turns in his seat towards you.
“Please don’t be mad at me. I swear– I mean, I–” You stop. “Please don’t be mad.”
There’s a pause. “I’m not going to be mad at you,” he says. He looks like he’s guessing the problem. You want to tell him before he can figure it out wrong.
“The doctor just told me I’m pregnant,” you admit, watching his face. When he doesn’t react, you stare down at your hands. You have no idea what to do.  “Almost four weeks pregnant. Aaron, I…” A hot flush rushes down your face.
Aaron shakes his head.
“I’m not mad. There’s no need to panic.” He speaks with deliberate slowness. You’ve heard him talk this way before, on the rare occasion where you’re upset and he’s been there to see it.
“I would never try to trap you–”
“Okay,” he interrupts. You aren’t sure he’s ever done that, not once since you met. “I think you’ve just had very big news, and you’re panicking, but I need you to know that I’m not against you right now.” He holds your gaze.
Your eyes water.
“I’m gonna get out and come around, okay?” he says quietly.
“Okay.” You sound pathetic to your own ears, like your voice is air squeezed tight from your chest.
Aaron climbs out of the driver's side and walks around the bonnet. You can’t watch him. You’re still not looking when he opens your door, bending to touch your cheek.
You turn into him. He takes it as permission to hold your face, giving you a quick once over before he kisses your cheek. “It’s okay,” he murmurs, “it’s okay.” More kisses, three then four, a fifth pressed to the softest high point.
You lean into him, immediately read for what you need, his arms wrapping around you and hugging you close. Maybe he’s right, you were panicking rather hard, and it’s not as though he’s given you reason to believe he’d react badly to the news, just, what man wants to hear from his partner of barely five months that she’s pregnant?
You suppose you don’t have to continue the pregnancy. Then you panic worse, because you’re not sure what you want, turning rigidly stiff in his embrace.
“It’s okay,” he says softly, “I love you, you know.”
It isn’t the first time he’s told you but you’re not used to hearing it, either. It’s reassurance you needed. Just as quickly as you stiffened, you relax.
He feels it. “I love you,” he says again, “and I’m so happy.”
“What?” you ask, pulling your face back from his chest.
“With you. This is the happiest I’ve been in a long, long time.”
“You want me to have the baby?”
He blinks. “Honey, I want you to do whatever you want.” You smile at him softly. He cups your face in both hands, his thumbs at the corners of your smile and pressing mildly into your skin. “It’s soon, isn’t it? But I do love you, I don’t say that lightly, and so I’d love for you to have a baby.”
“Really?”
“Are you surprised by that?”
“You really love me that much?”
“I want a life with you,” he confesses. How terribly sincere a thing to say, stooped under the car roof, trying to stop you from crying into his palms.
You don’t know if you want a baby just yet, but you have time to think about it, and a clearly supportive partner. He waits for what he’s said to sink in, rubbing semi-circles into your cheek, dotting a kiss heavy with affection into the skin just shy of his index finger and the corner of your eye. “That’s a cruel surprise, for you to have been told alone. I’m sorry you were by yourself. If I’d known…”
“If I’d known I would’ve made you go with me,” you promise.
“Do you feel alright? I suppose we know why you were craving Dora’s so badly a few nights ago,” he says.
He sounds achingly in love with you. You’ve never heard him so gentle, not even the first time he took you home.
“Honey?”
“I love you too,” you say.
“I know.” He hugs you, a rare smile brushing your cheeks as he leans down and in. “Can you answer me? Do you feel okay? Hayley was sick to her stomach the whole nine months.”
“She was? Are you kidding?” You baulk wondering if that’s what’s in store for you.
“Not kidding. Sorry. Not that you have to… well. You’re not feeling sick, are you?”
“I feel better now,” you say honestly.
He rubs your back, big rough lines full of fondness. “Okay, good. I’m gonna get back in, okay? So you can think about things at home. What do you think, is that alright? We’ll order something to eat and you can take your time.”
“No, no–” You grab him tight. He can’t leave.
Aaron laughs and hugs you tighter. You spend a long few minutes like that settling, no tears shed, just trying to catch up to yourself without panicking again. It could be nice to be pregnant. It could be an early start on your life with him, there’d be nothing wrong with that. You’d live together with Jack, you’d get to wake up beside him everyday. You’d love that, you’d love to be with him, you and him and your babies. But it’s not that simple.
Aaron’s right though, you have time to think. In the meantime, he loves you.
“I can take a few days off.”
“What?” You laugh. “Have you ever had a day off in your life?”
“No, but I should start. I will. No matter what you choose.”
He tips your head back for a chaste, adoring kiss. You can feel it in every millimetre of pressure, and the way he chucks under your chin with his thumb as he stands.
He goes to shut your door, but doubles back for another hug. “I’m so lucky to have you. I love you.” He seems surprised he’s said it, though not regretful, laughing sheepishly as he pulls away. “I’m very sorry for putting you in this position unexpectedly.”
It’ll be alright, ‘cos he loves you. You manage a short laugh. “Well, it’s okay. I’m just glad you’re not mad.”
“It never even crossed my mind.” He closes your door, walking back around to the driver's side to take you home.

Tumblr media
You’re not nervous.
You’re just strapped to a machine that monitors your pulse, breathing, and capacity for deception, sitting across from your real-life boyfriend-slash-former nemesis while cameras roll and a complete stranger watches for signs of romantic weakness. Totally normal. Very chill.
Drew’s already grinning like he’s been waiting his whole life for this. His legs are sprawled out in that irritatingly confident way, and he looks like someone who definitely still texts “u up?” for fun.
“Try not to lie,” he says, tilting his head. “I hear the machine hates liars.”
You blink once, slowly. “Good luck, then.”
The technician gives a thumbs up. The camera starts rolling. You resist the urge to roll your eyes so hard they leave orbit.
It begins politely. Names. Roles. Basic stats.
Then Drew gets cocky. “Would you say I’m your favorite cast member?”
“No.”
The needle stays flat.
He gasps. “Cold-blooded.”
You smile sweetly. “You’re top five.”
“There are six of us.”
“Exactly.”
Your turn.
“Did you or did you not call my character ‘forced’ before ever speaking to me?”
Drew shifts. “Allegedly.”
The machine screams LIE like it’s offended on your behalf.
You hum. “Interesting.”
“In my defense,” he says, “you walked into that readthrough like you’d already fired half the writers.”
“And you looked like you hadn’t slept since 2017.”
Someone off camera chokes. You don’t look. Drew’s trying not to smile. He’s failing.
You get off track quickly.
“Be honest,” he says. “You rehearsed your Truth or Dare roast, didn’t you?”
You pause. “Maybe.”
The machine beeps loud enough to make the intern flinch.
Drew laughs like he’s just caught you cheating on a test. “Knew it.”
“You told the entire table that I looked like a ‘girlboss-themed Bond villain.’”
“Yeah, and that was improv.”
“That’s what concerns me.”
You try to sabotage him next.
“Did you know you liked me when you sent that stupid meme about Rafe needing therapy and a father figure?”
He stares. “No comment.”
BEEP.
You press your lips together. “Joseph Andrew Starkey. You caught feelings over a shitpost.”
He mutters, “It was a good meme.”
It spirals from there.
“Did I annoy you during season two?”
“Yes.”
“Do I still?”
“Yes.”
“Are you in love with me?”
“Shut up.”
Truth.
You raise both brows. He looks like a man deeply regretting his life choices.
“Say it again?” you ask.
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because you’ll make it your ringtone.”
He’s not wrong.
Eventually, the technician cuts in, trying to regain order. You and Drew both ignore him completely. Someone behind the camera whispers, “Just let them go.”
You’ve lost all structure now. It’s just chaos and bad decisions.
“Have you forgiven me for the hoodie I stole in Atlanta?”
“Which one?”
He closes his eyes like he’s praying.
“Would you trust me to act opposite Timothée Chalamet?”
He blinks. “Absolutely not.”
“Why?”
“Because you’d fall in love and I’d have to fight him.”
“…You think you could win?”
A long pause.
“…Emotionally? No.”
You nod solemnly. “That’s fair.”
Somewhere around the fifteen-minute mark, you stop remembering this is for Vanity Fair. That millions of people will see it. That you’re both supposed to be promoting a show and not emotionally exposing yourselves on camera like two feral raccoons in love.
Drew looks at you like he always does—like you’re either going to kiss him or ruin his life. (It’s always been both.)
You cross your legs, lean back, and say, “So… still think I was a bad fit?”
He smiles, slow and sheepish. “No.”
Truth.
You lean forward, elbows on the table, voice low. “Did you fall for me before or after I told you to grow up on set in front of the sound guy?”
He grins. “Right then.”
Truth.
You hum, pleased. “Knew it.”
When it’s over, you both stand at the same time. The technician is sweating. The producer looks like he needs a drink. The footage will need a thousand disclaimers.
Drew bumps your shoulder with his. “You gonna be nice to me now?”
You eye him. “Define ‘nice.’”
He leans in, smirking. “You’ll text me later.”
You scoff. “You’ll text me first.”
He shrugs. “Yeah. Probably.”
The machine would call that the truest thing he’s said all day.

Written All Over Our Faces X Will Poulter
Tumblr media
MasterList
Will Poulter Masterlist
Tumblr media
I adjusted the strap on my wrist for what must have been the fifth time, the cool plastic band slightly too tight against my skin.
"Bit nervous?" the technician asked kindly, connecting a few more wires to the monitor beside me.
I laughed lightly "Is it that obvious?"
He smiled, reassuring "Everyone is. Just answer honestly and you’ll be fine."
Right. Just answer honestly. As if that would be simple with Will Poulter sitting across from me, arms folded, grinning like he knew every single thought in my head.
"Ready, Y/N?" he teased, raising an eyebrow.
"Ready as I'll ever be," I shot back, trying to sound confident.
We were here filming the Vanity Fair Lie Detector Test as part of the press run for Falling For You our upcoming romcom where we played best friends who slowly fell in love.
Art imitating life a bit too closely, if you asked me.
Because if the butterflies in my stomach were anything to go by, I'd been quietly falling for Will from the moment we’d met.
The first few questions were easy.
"Is your real name Y/N?" "Yes." True.
"Are you an actor?" "Last time I checked." True.
We laughed through them, the technician nodding along approvingly.
Will leaned forward, chin propped on his hand, watching me with amusement as the questions rolled on.
"Have you ever lied during a press interview?"
"Absolutely," I said immediately. We both laughed.
True.
"Would you ever date a fan?"
I hesitated, glancing at Will instinctively.
He smirked.
"I mean… technically, if they’re a fan after meeting me, that’s fine, right?" I joked.
True.
Will chuckled lowly, his eyes glinting"Very diplomatic."
Then it was his turn.
He took the seat with an easy confidence, the machine hooked up to him while I held the list of questions in my lap.
"Is your full name William Jack Poulter?"
"Yes, although I mostly get 'Oi you' on set," he joked.
True.
I smiled, twirling the clipboard idly.
"Have you ever been mistaken for another actor?"
"All the bloody time," he groaned. "Especially with the eyebrows."
True.
We both laughed again easy, comfortable. It always felt like this with him.
Then the producer handed me a separate stack of fan-submitted questions.
I glanced at them, my heart skipping a beat.
Oh, God. They were cheeky.
"Alright, Will," I said, trying to keep a straight face. "The people want to know: did you and I have instant chemistry when we first met?"
He blinked at me, surprised then smiled slow and easy.
"Yeah," he said simply. "Yeah, we did."
The machine buzzed. True.
My face heated instantly, and I ducked my head, scribbling something fake on the clipboard to avoid looking at him.
"Right," I said, voice higher than usual. "Next one. Er… have you ever had a crush on a co-star?"
He laughed, rubbing a hand over his jaw.
"Maybe."
The machine spiked slightly.
I narrowed my eyes. "That’s a bit vague, Will."
"Alright, yes," he said, laughing.
True.
"Care to name names?" I teased, nudging him lightly with the clipboard.
He just grinned at me, all dimples and mischief.
"Wouldn't you like to know."
Another question came one that made my stomach swoop.
"If you had the chance… would you date Y/N?"
I nearly dropped the clipboard.
Will froze for a fraction of a second, then leaned back in his chair, pretending to consider it like it was the most complicated question he’d ever heard.
"Hmm," he said, tapping his chin. "Is that even a question? Look at her."
The technician chuckled under his breath.
I gaped at Will, wide-eyed.
"Answer properly!" I demanded, half-laughing, half-panicking.
"Fine," he said, shrugging like it was obvious. "Yes. In a heartbeat."
The machine’s needle barely flickered.
True.
Silence stretched between us for a moment.
Then he winked.
My heart nearly exploded.
We finished the shoot with red faces and aching cheeks from laughing too much. When we said goodbye to the crew, I practically sprinted to my car, my mind spinning.
He was just being nice. He was just playing it up for the cameras. Right? I wasn’t sure. Not anymore.
Because for the first time, it didn’t feel like just banter. It felt real.
A few days later, the video dropped.
It went everywhere.
Clips of Will grinning at me, of me blushing furiously, of us laughing and teasing and looking at each other like we were the only two people in the world.
Fans immediately lost their minds.
Tweets flooded in: "The way Will looks at Y/N, I'm sobbing." "They are so obviously in love and in denial, it's painful." "JUST DATE ALREADY."
Memes. Edits. Compilation videos.
It was mortifying and flattering and completely overwhelming all at once.
I was lying on my bed, staring at the ceiling, trying to process it all when my phone buzzed.
Will Poulter: "You free tonight?"
I sat bolt upright.
Before I could overthink it, I typed back:
"Yeah. What's up?"
Almost immediately, he replied:
"Felt like we owe it to the fans to have a proper date 😉 x"
My heart thudded wildly.
I typed, deleted, typed again.
"Where and when?"
His answer came quickly:
"Pick you up at 7. Dress casual. x"
I dropped my phone onto the duvet and buried my face in my hands, grinning like an idiot.
At 7pm sharp, there was a knock at my door.
I opened it to find Will standing there, casual in jeans and a hoodie, holding a takeaway coffee in each hand.
"For you," he said, offering one with a sheepish smile.
I laughed, taking it.
"Not the most glamorous first date."
He shrugged, stepping inside.
"Coffee’s romantic. Very us."
I smiled, feeling oddly shy all of a sudden.
"So... what’s the plan?"
He gestured to my living room.
"Thought we could stay in. Watch terrible romcoms. Judge them mercilessly."
My heart squeezed painfully.
It was perfect.
"Sounds perfect." I said.
We settled onto the sofa, the film playing quietly in the background as we sipped coffee and traded stories and laughed about the video.
"I swear I wasn’t trying to make it that obvious," Will said, running a hand through his hair. "I thought I was being subtle."
I snorted.
"Subtle? Will, you basically confessed on camera."
He groaned, hiding his face behind a cushion.
"And you didn’t exactly hide how much you liked it," he said, voice muffled.
I threw some popcorn at him.
He caught it effortlessly and popped it into his mouth, grinning.
Silence settled for a moment not awkward, but charged.
Will shifted closer, his knee brushing mine.
"I meant what I said, you know," he said softly.
I turned to face him, heart in my throat.
"I meant all of it."
I swallowed hard.
"Me too."
His face lit up, slow and warm, like sunrise.
"Good," he murmured, leaning in.
I closed the distance, meeting him halfway.
The kiss was soft, tentative at first a question. I answered eagerly, tilting my head, deepening it.
His hand came up to cup my jaw, gentle and sure.
When we finally broke apart, we stayed close, foreheads resting together.
"Think we should tell the fans?" I whispered, breathless.
He chuckled, low and fond.
"Maybe let’s keep it ours for a little while," he said. "Just us."
I nodded, smiling.
"Just us."
For now.
Because somehow, without even meaning to, we’d written a love story even better than the one we were promoting.
And this time, it wasn’t acting.

A Collection of Will Solace Headcanons (part 2)
More headcanons for best boy.
Will is allergic to lying. If he tells a lie, he breaks out in hives. If someone else tells a lie, he sneezes. He's like a human lie detector. The only person who seems to get around this is Nico, but it's more because Nico has no idea if he himself is telling the truth 100% of the time or not. Having your memory wiped has some perks, I guess...
Will likes all types of music, but his favorites include a lot of metal and 2000s punk. I'm just imagining sunny, smiley Will with earbuds in, absolutely blasting Korn. It's also because Michael was a huge fan of punk and metal music.
In addition to metal bands, Will is absolutely a girl pop fan. Courtesy of Lee and Kayla. He's embarrassed about it though.
Will had an emo phase. He saw the band posters hanging over Michaels bed when he was 10 and tried to replicate the look because he thought it looked cool. He tried to dye his hair with kool aid. It didn't work very well. He also begged Michael to give him ear piercings, to this day he still has little metal studs in his ears.
Will loves tattoos despite his fear of needles. In addition to the sun he has on his chest, he has a whole notebook full of ideas. He wants to have a sleeve one day. Kayla wanted to try stick n' poke so she and Will have matching (ugly) suns on their ankles. Austin had to blindfold him to get it done.
Once, Will got a kidney infection and walked himself to the emergency room. No one found out until he iris messaged camp to tell them he was in the ER. (Based on a true story I actually did this, my poor roommate had a heart attack when I called him.)
Will ends up befriending Thanatos because of the amount of times he encounters him on the battlefield. They used to hate each other but now Will has a level of respect for him. They bond over Chappell Roan.
Will is a hopeless romantic. He wishes to be treated like a princess sometimes, and Nico definitely indulges in that. It makes him flustered but he feels cared for.
His love languages are quality time and acts of service.
Will uses 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner. His skincare routine is hand soap and good genes.
Will can shoot a gun (Texas!) but is known to be a terrible shot due to CHB not having modern weapons. It wasn't until Will was gifted a pistol by Annabeth (courtesty of her dad) that everyone discovers Will is not a terrible shot, but is just terrible with arrows.
Will takes up boxing as a way to get out his anger. He uses a punching bag the Ares kids has hanging behind their cabin.

Thinking again about the 25 Lazarii miracle and it actually tells us some pretty interesting things about how miracles work!
First-- and maybe most important:
Heaven and Hell cannot tell who did a miracle.
They only know someone performed a powerful miracle. They assume it must be Gabriel because it was so off-the-charts. Shax says "only the mightiest of Archangels" could have done it, Crowley quips "how do you know it wasn't me?" But no one knows for sure. It could have been anyone near the bookshop.
Heaven and Hell can't tell what a miracle is meant to do.
The Archangels ask Aziraphale, who comes up with a flimsy lie about making humans fall in love, but the angels don't question it.
Basically Heaven and Hell seem to have something like a seismic detector for miracle energy. They notice if there's a big burst or spike of energy, but most things fade into the background noise. They can tell the general area of where that energy came from, but not who did it or what was done. No wonder the Arrangement went unnoticed for so long-- Heaven and Hell are looking for a ping on their radar, and as long as it happens at the right time and place, they don't look any closer to see who did it. (And in many cases, it seems, they weren't even watching for the ping.)
I feel like this backs up the idea that Gabriel's "frivolous miracles" comment in S1 is bullshit. If Heaven can't tell what a nuclear-level blast of miracle power is meant to do, there's no way they can track tiny individual miracles for reheating tea or whatever. So the comment simply seems meant to make Aziraphale insecure and doubt himself. There's clearly some level of surveillance when Heaven/Hell wants there to be-- Crowley and Aziraphale are both concerned about drawing attention once Gabriel arrives, and Hell noticed something when Crowley saves Elspeth-- perhaps all the size changing expended more miracle energy than he expected? In episode 1, it seems likely that they (and/or the shop) are being watched. But even then, Heaven and Hell seem to essentially be scanning the radar, watching for any pings. That's why Crowley proposes that a combined miracle will "barely move the needle" -- they expect to cancel each other out, as they've always done. It just backfired in this unique circumstance.

"Why are so many romance novel leads sexist a%*holes — and am I weird for not finding that sexy?"
Jane asks: "Also, why are there so many huge guy/tiny girl couples and barely any the other way around? I really liked how Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan books portrayed non-toxic masculinity (involved fathers! no petite-fetish crap! men giving oral!), but finding something similarly respectful (I guess that’s the right word) is like finding a needle in a haystack."
s.e. smith answers: "Nothing more frustrating than getting into the groove of a good book only to get smacked in the head by misogyny, stereotypes, and general weirdness—and no, Jane, you’re not weird for not being into sexist assholes, and for knowing what you DO like! BUT, I have some great news for you: Romance is an amazingly diverse and fun genre, and it sounds like you’ve just scratched the surface.
And I’ll let you in on a little secret: You can find sexist trash in all literary genres. There’s fancy literary fiction that is absolute garbage, with horrible gross sexist characters being terrible human beings, for example. The fact that only romance gets called out for and associated with this should set off your bullshit detector. Interesting that a genre associated with women writers and readers gets put down all the time, isn’t it?..
From the sound of your letter, you’re probably not going to be super into alpha hero and other romance centering around power imbalances, for example, unless that romance is upending those tropes (and they will tell you in cover copy and reviews). But if you’re looking for romance where people are on more equal footing, or playing with gender dynamics, something like partners in crime or different worlds could be fun.
I’m personally a huge fan of period romances, especially those set in the Regency Era. Beverly Jenkins is a very famous author in that genre, with a focus on Black characters in contemporary and historical fiction, and if you want more Black characters, check out Alyssa Cole. Georgette Heyer is a classic. I just finished Confounding Oaths, by Alexis Hall, which is a super fun and very gay fantasy set in (sort of) the Regency era. Zen Cho, a Malaysian fantasy and romance author, is also delightful. Wanting to go Victorian? India Holton’s books are spicy, charming, and fun. Something more fantasy and very queer? TJ Klune isn’t exactly a romance author, but writes very cozy, sweet, gay love stories."
Want more leads? Read the rest of s.e. smith's tips on how to find romance that doesn't revolve around boring overused tropes steeped in misogyny and sexist main characters below!

Damian would kill him if Jason ever told him this story.
He’d seen the kid bringing Titus in from a walk, a long scratch down the side of the dogs side. They were in a hurry for Damian to patch the injury and he overheard the brat asking Alfred if he could set up motion detectors for different types of animals. Like say, raccoons.
So Titus had a nasty run in with a raccoon and Jason had a jogged memory about something he hadn’t thought of in years.
He was avoiding the brat and the dog now because the image wouldn’t leave his head. Like a scratched record it kept playing behind his eyes, the needle trapped in one phrase of the song.
It had been 7 months into his stint living on the streets. He’d been testing out sleeping in warehouses and abandoned buildings, finally having the nerve to trespass vertically and inhabit the rafters.
He’d taken his belt and looped it around on of the supports he’d decided to sleep on. It wasn’t every protected, but it required you to walk across a narrow beam to reach him. Most adults would have lost their footing.
He’d woken up to loud shouts beneath him and nearly startled himself off the beam.
Below, there was a wire ring with dozens of shouting people surrounding it. There was movement in the middle and a row of cages in another section of the warehouse.
There was a distinct sound of barking.
Jason had unlatched his belt to go take a look at what was going on. Jimmy, one of the older kids, had told him about fighting rings. How you could make easy money doing dirty work, if you knew who to talk to about the fights. The hardest part was finding them since locations got moved so quickly.
When he’d approached one of the bookies, the man had laughed and told him to find Francis in the green jacket. He’d show him the ropes.
There weren’t very many people around the wire fence, but they were all closely packed together, so Jason had a hard time seeing what was happening. When he found Francis, he was given gruff directions and made sure to nod and keep up.
Jason hadn’t spent much time around animals. There was Señora Imelda’s cat in the apartment down the hall that he got a tamale for catching in the winter when it was too cold to let it stay outside. And he’d seen a couple of strays on the street before, but they were usually the type of animal you ran from, not pet.
So when the noise of the crowd surged suddenly and then broke like a wave, Francis was darting in front of him, grabbing the still standing mutt with a long stick that had a loop on its end.
Jason was told to grab the dog lying on its side.
He was quick to approach but his breath caught when he got a good look at the animal. It was covered in scratches and bite marks, missing an ear, and matted with blood. It was whining softly and staring up at Jason with unfocused eyes.
Francis kicked him to keep moving and Jason whispered an apology under his breath as he all but dragged the dog out of the pit.
Francis led him to a pile of unmoving bodies and Jason almost bolted right there. Easy money doing dirty work, said Jimmy’s voice in his ear and he dragged his burden to the small heap.
It looked like there had only been 3 matches so far, including the dog from the last one. And Jason could see at least 10 full cages off to one of the other sides of the pile.
He swallowed down bile.
Francis was already heading back to the action, but Jason couldn’t get the sound the dog was making out of his head. It was a soft whining followed by wet gasps. It made his chest tight.
Carefully, keeping his hands away from the dog’s mouth and open wounds, he gave it a soft scratch on its head like he’d seen a little girl in the park do to a chihuahua last June.
The dog blinked at him, brown eyes unfocused but moving.
Jason kept scratching its head, softly petting down its neck until its eyes stopped moving. He closed them and then went to go find Francis.
The next match, when he went to collect the fallen dog, it stared back with already vacant eyes.
Jason closed those too.
He made $40 that night and never sought out another animal fighting ring.
There was nothing easy about that kind of money.

Abilities I think should be in kotlc
Earth: I don't have a cool name for it but like. Come on. That would be cool. They can move dirt and rocks and stuff. They would probably be really good gardeners. They'd work with gnomes and yeah
Lie finders: is this already a thing? Like a lie detector? Idk but they can't really do anything except tell when someone is lying. They sense heartbeats and so they can... Tell when someone is lying....
Needle workers: they are really good at making clothes. Like technopaths but with fabrics. Needs a new name.
Animal speaker: doesn't have a name yet. They can talk to animals and sense animals emotions. So like.... A polyglot empath... With animals only..... They would work at the sanctuary mostly
Healers: needs a name. You don't have to have this ability to be a doctor or wtvr but they are really good at healing people and mending wounds.
