How to Archive VODs and Clips

Whether you want to download VODs and/or clips for your own records or because you’d like to share them online, knowing how to archive things is handy, especially when so many streams become lost media once they’re deleted off Twitch and/or YouTube.

Here are a few programs that I use for Royal Archivist!

Of all the programs on this list, my personal favorites / the ones I most strongly recommend are Cobalt and Twitch Downloader! (When all else fails, OBS is also a good backup).

Cobalt

Cobalt has gained a lot of popularity the past few months, and for good reason! It's a very reliable, extremely user-friendly website that lets you save videos in MP4 formats, convert them into MP3 formats, or video-only without sound.

Cobalt is currently compatible with: BlueSky, Dailymotion, Facebook, Instagram, Loom, OK, Pinterest, Reddit, RuTube, SnapChat, SoundCloud, Streamable, TikTok, Tumblr, Twitch, Twitter, Vimeo, VK, Xiohongshu, and YouTube.

Twitch’s built-in download feature

If you’re downloading your own clip, this is the easiest method to use

First, navigate to your clips page.

To do this, click on your Twitch icon and go to “Creator Dashboard.” There will be a row of icons on your left - click the fifth button from the top (the one above the settings icon) and click on the link that says “Clips.”

At the top of the page, click on “Clips I’ve Created” and you should see a list of every clip you’ve ever made (regardless of whether or not you’ve published them, the clips are there!)

If you're having trouble, you can also type: https://dashboard.twitch.tv/u/ YOUR USERNAME HERE /clips/created

Click on the share button, and the list shown in the photo below will pop up.

After you click on the “Download” button (for landscape or portrait), a new tab will open up with the clip (which will autoplay, so heads up if you have your volume turned up high!)

Right click on the video and click “Save Video As”

That’s all there is to it! Please keep in mind that Twitch’s download function only works for clips you’ve made! You cannot use it to download VODs, or other people’s clips.

Twitch Downloader

Twitch Downloader is by far the BEST Twitch download program I have ever used. I’ve used several different ones, some which have broken because of Twitch’s updates, others which have fallen into disrepair because their creator no longer updates the program, but this one has been working consistently for me for a little over a year now. I’ve kept it very close to my chest because I’m terrified it’ll stop working one day, but it’s better to share resources than horde them out of fear.

Pros:

HD quality for all downloads! Whatever quality the stream was, that’s the quality the download will be (unless you adjust anything in the settings).

The best feature of this program is you can adjust how much you want to clip! Only want a 30 second clip from a 6 hour VOD? You can specify the section you want to download so long as you know the timestamps where you want the clip to start and where you want it to end.

You can download entire VODs.

When saving the file, it will automatically enter the original name of the stream and the stream date. (You can change this, but it’s very handy when you’re downloading an entire VOD and not a section of one).

It will automatically prompt you to update it when a new version has been released. (You do have the option to opt out of this, if you want).

There are a lot of other features available, however, I’ve never tried any of them so I can’t say how well they work. The Github page has a lot of examples and a Q&A section though, so check that out if you’re curious!

On the rare occasion that the program encounters issues, it's easy to use a past version, and the creators are quick to release new updates that resolve any problems. As of today (February 21, 2025) the latest version is currently 1.55.2, which updated last week.

Cons:

Sometimes when you click “Get Info” it won’t immediately load the VOD. This is pretty easy to solve by just restarting the program, so it’s not a huge issue imo.

You can’t preview clips before you download them, so you need to know the exact timestamps you want.

You can’t download VODs that are privated or no longer on Twitch.

How to use:

Download Twitch Downloader from Github and install the version that works for your computer. (In this case, I would download the GUI Windows-x64.zip version. Make sure you’re downloading the GUI version if you want a user-friendly version of this program).

Enter the URL of the VOD you’d like to download.

You can adjust the quality of the video and the length. If nothing is specified in the “Crop Video” section, it will download the entire VOD.

Once you’re ready, click the “Download” button and you’re good to go!

Open Video Downloader

If you’ve ever wanted to download any kind of video, I’m sure you’ve heard of Youtube-dl. There are different versions of this program, but some of them are a bit finicky and if things stop working, it can be difficult and frustrating trying to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it — which is why I recommend this program.

Open Video Downloader, aka youtube-dl-gui, is one of the best video downloaders I’ve ever used. It’s basically Youtube-dl with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that makes the program very easy for anyone to use.

Pros:

No coding knowledge required! VERY user-friendly.

The creator fixes user issues very quickly! Whenever the program experiences a problem, a new update is released within 24 hours.

It can download videos from pretty much all major social media platforms, including Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr, Twitch clips, Instagram, and more.

Cons:

You can’t adjust the length of what you want to download. If you want to download a 2 minute section from a 5 hour Youtube VOD, you’ll have to download the entire video.

On rare occasions, I’ve had issues where it cannot download an unlisted Youtube video. There are sometimes ways to get around this, but it’s a pain and usually not worth the effort.

How to use it:

Download the latest version of the program from GitHub. Scroll all the way down to “Assets” and select the version that’s right for your computer. (For example, I use Windows, so I would download the .exe file).

Once you’ve installed it, you can start downloading things! For this example, let’s say I want to download Quackity’s “Welcome to the QSMP” video. All I need to do is copy the link and paste it into the white box at the top of the program.

Once that’s done, you should see the video pop up in your download queue. You can queue multiple videos to download at once (you can also download entire playlists too). When you’re ready, click the green download button on the bottom right (as shown in the picture below) or if you only want to download one specific video from your queue, click the download button (circled in red) next to the video.

You can adjust the quality of the video you want to download, and in theory you can choose whether to download just the audio or just the video of a video, but personally that’s never worked for me. That might just be a me issue though.

If you’d like to change where your videos are saved to, click the Folder button (circled in yellow) and choose a download destination. If nothing is chosen, it will default to your Downloads folder.

There are ways you can customize this program, but like I said earlier, this program is very very easy to use and does not require any tinkering whatsoever. You open it, download what you want, then close it. Nice and simple!

Other Recommendations

OBS is a good backup when all else fails! I have to use OBS pretty frequently for YouTube VODs, since there aren't a lot of tools that let you clip parts of a YouTube video (and I'd rather not download an entire 7 hour long VOD for a 30 second clip). There are already a lot of good tutorials out there explaining how to use OBS, so I recommend poking around and seeing what works best for you. If you're new to video downloading / archiving things, I'd still recommend starting with some of the tools I mentioned above first.

I’d recommend making a folder on your computer for clips. I find it very helpful to name all my files with this method: [Stream date] Streamer name - Something that helps me remember what this clip is about / something that will help me find it later, or a quote.

Example: [2-6-24] Mike - I hate capitalism

If you’ve got a significant amount of clips on your computer, I’d recommend backing them up and/or saving them to an external harddrive!

That’s about it! I apologize if I’ve missed any steps, but hopefully everything is more or less easy enough for folks to understand! I’m someone who does not like downloading random programs onto my computer and I’m very paranoid about cyber security, but I’ve used these programs for over a year now, and they’re very reliable and trustworthy. 10/10, I recommend both of them.

Lastly: if anyone has a recommendation for good Youtube clip downloaders, please let me know! I haven’t found any good programs that let me specify how much of a Youtube video I’d like to download, and I am suffering. Help your friendly neighborhood Archivist so I can share more clips from the early days of QSMP.

Due to her childhood she memorizes how someone's footsteps and breathing sounds along with their scent so she's quick to tell the slightest change in someone. She can tell slight body language changes (from learning to anticipate what her mother would do)

Is "security" in Heartslabyul to stop people from sneaking in. Her magic pen is actually a collapsing baton since she often pins someone down when sneaking in.

She does a complete 180° when Riddle is around, when he's gone she much more laid back and joking but as soon as he's near she's more serious or cold to others (since her two cards are the joker and the jack of hearts)

While she can use magic, she's quick to physically fight instead.

Turns out he’s been hiding it from because he didn’t want her to leave him, and he didn’t want her to try and stop the canon from happening

Angst. Hurt/No Comfort. MDNI. This isn't a continuation of Mansplain but I like to think they're the same spiderwoman in my head.

OB note: SURPRISE, yeah it usually takes me longer to put out requests but I've had more free time so requests are still open & I'm still taking requests from the 200 follower event. <3

You knew the reason he was the way he was. Harsh. Rude. Aggressive. You knew of his pain and understood it the best way that you could. He had lost so much; it was a mystery to you as to how he could function the way he did from that loss. But here was a kid that reminded you so much of yourself. Bright eyed and bushy tailed, experiencing all that being a spider person meant to be and having loss help in your heart already. Truthfully, the immediate bond you felt with Miles when he appeared in headquarters made you think of the brothers you had lost. He was so much like them, so much like you. It made a soft spot in your heart that you didn’t know was there. And that’s what leads you to speaking with Miguel and attempting to have him explain in a gentle way the effects of cannon events.

“Mig.” You start as your fingers skim over his facial features, your gentle demeanor making his movements falter. “You can’t do this to him, he’s just a boy he doesn’t know”

“I know, I just…” Miguel starts before his own voice trails off, not knowing how to put his feelings into words. It was all too much. Too much for you, and way too much for him.

“You just have to show him Mig, I’m sure he will understand then. You know it’s hard to understand the magnitude of what’s going on unless you can see it for yourself.” You start as you’re stroking the sides of his face to calm him, “he can’t know unless you show him.”

Miguel pushes his face more into your palm, surrendering to the calmness that it provides him. You were his comfort; you provided him with the humanity that he thought he lost. Oh, how he loved you. The soft look in your eyes as you cradled his face in the security of your hand. The knowledge of the specific reasons of the importance of the multiverse granted to you for the first time between the sheets of the bed you shared for the first time.

Now where you stood, watching Miguel explain the importance of cannon events, how they needed to happen in order to keep the universe intact. As you watch his and other spiders past fly through your vision, something catches your eye. Yes, you knew that Miguel had made it through the collapse of two universes, but it was a sensitive topic for him, so you didn’t bring it often, if at all. But something for the first time caught your eye as you were watching his ‘presentation’. And it was you, for the first time you saw yourself in one of these ‘canon events’. The things you saw, the visions hitting you like a freight train, you didn’t know how to handle any of it. At the realization, you snuck off from the situation that Miguel and Miles were going through to figure out what the hell you thought you could possibly be seeing.

“Margo.” You call out more quietly than you expected for how strong your voice is normally. Even with the softness in your voice, of course she hears you.

“Yes ma’am.” Her answer coming from thin air as she appears before you.

“I-“ you begin before trying to decide on what to say and ask for. “I need your help” The seriousness in your voice surprised her for a moment, you weren’t usually one to ask for help with anything so she would be there for you for anything that you needed in that moment. She gave you the information that you needed, files that you never thought to access because you didn’t think they were of importance to you.

All you could do was watch the scene before you on repeat. You even remember the moment so clearly in your own head as if it was just yesterday. It was the day before you thought that you would hate Miguel for the rest of your life and the day that he saved you, and the day that you fell in love with him. You had only been working at the spider society for a year then, but most of your missions were closely with Miguel, the two of you growing more and more attached by the day surprising to yourself and everyone else. But now here you were, staring at a situation that you didn’t even know about, something that you couldn’t even believe was true.

“Today is the day her lab explodes, then it’ll take rise to the new spider woman of her dimension.”  Lyla states while she watches the scene unfold before her, Migue knew that. He had seen it happen in another dimension that you were in, a variant of yourself, a cannon event. Your death would bring upon the entrance of a new spider girl. But Miguel couldn’t have happened to you, not you. He wasn’t going to lose someone again. He could remember the first day he had stumbled into your universe trying to take on an anomaly that you had already handled. You had this confident air about you that made him falter every time he tried to speak to you. It was too easy to fall in love with you, you were brilliant, talented, capable, and the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. And now? Now he was just supposed to let you go, let you die???? He couldn’t, he wouldn’t. He didn’t care about the fate of the multiverse; he cared about YOU.

Lyla didn’t even try to stop him as he made his way to your universe. He knew how to fix the problem that caused your accident. It wasn’t even anything that was your fault, you were being sabotaged by a jealous coworker.  It was simple, he would just set everything back in your lab like it was supposed to before you realized anything was out of the ordinary.  Simple. And then it ended up being not so simple when you were in your lab, earlier than he had expected you to be.

“Oh, O’hara. Hey, what are you doing in my universe? I know we had plans for later but I was just coming in early so I know I would be free all night for you.” You giggle with your back turned to him as you continue working, your spidey senses giving his presence away. He almost forgot, the two of you did have a date tonight, so of course you were going to try and get your test done early. How could he have forgotten.

“ I- I just missed you.” He claims as he walks towards you, trying to take in how far along you were your testing. He had to make sure he wasn’t too late but as you turned around to smile at him or say something him he could see the mistake that you were about to make. No words left his lips before the explosion happened; you flew back across the room. The blast caught the lab on fire and when Miguel reached you, you were out cold.

When you finally opened your eyes, you could tell that you were in headquarters infirmary. Your head was spinning as you tried to sit up, next to your bed was Miguel slumping back in a chair passed out. How long have you been out? How long had he been waiting there? You could see the dark circles under his eyes were more exaggerated than usual, his whole body screamed exhausted. Your shifting jolted him awake.

“You’re up.”  He pants as he’s looking at you wide eyes, reaching to grab your face as if you were just an illusion to him.

“Yeah, I’m up.”  You say as you raise your hand to touch one of the hands that was holding your face, “What happened?”

Miguel took a deep breath before he started explaining to you the accident that happened in your lab that you got knocked out last week. The explosion had destroyed the whole entire lab, and he told you that it created a tear in the dimension destroying it. Your home. Your life. Almost everything you knew was now destroyed. All you had left was the society and Miguel. The Miguel that saved you.

That was the day that you knew you had loved Miguel, the day you realized that he was the man for you. The two of you had been getting close but that was the catalyst to what y’all were today. And what y’all was a lie. Everything Miguel preaches about protecting the multiverse meant nothing. He let your universe die. He let your family and friends die. And he trapped you here with him, no where to go, no universe to space to.

The tears were sliding down your face long before you even noticed them. You were gathering your things from the apartment you and Miguel shared together, droplets hitting your hands every so often as you are throwing things in bags. In your haze and how attuned you were to Miguel’s presence you didn’t even notice him entering until his hands were on your shoulders, stopping you. At the interaction you jump back from him.

“Amor, what are you doing?” He asks taking in your appearance, the state of the apartment, and that look in your eyes.

“I know” was all you said before you went back to gathering your things.

“You know what?” He says, “trying to grab at your wrist to stop your movements. You didn’t even give him a chance, pulling your arm away, taking a step back from him deciding you’ve gotten enough.

Your eyes narrow at him before you speak, “I know what you did Miguel, I know”

As Miguel takes in everything it finally hits him, what you mean. Fuck. How did you even find out??? He never even thought you would investigate that. You had complete and total faith in him. You did, you had.

He reached out for you again as you went to pass him, “Wait just let me explain” His grip tightening as you try to pull away.

“Let me go O’Hara.”

“No.” he says, not pulling you towards him but not letting you go. “Not until you let me explain, please.” He spoke softly, gently to you as he tried to hold firm, but you can feel him shaking.

“It was a cannon event, Miguel.”

“I know but I couldn’t lose you. I couldn’t lose another good thing that happened to me. I loved you! I love you! I couldn’t just let you die. I couldn’t.” He pleads with you, his red eyes glimmering with the threat of tears. You inhale sharply before wrenching your arm from his grip.

“But I could lose everything and everyone, huh?” You grab everything that could fit in your hands, turning back on him to walk out the door.  Your hand paused on the door handle as you take a deep breath before turning to him.

“I hate you, Miguel O’Hara. I hate you for what you did. I hate you for what you took from me, and I will never forgive you.”

That was the last thing you said to him before you walked out of the apartment for the last time. Miguel just stops there, unmoving as tears involuntarily fall from his eyes. Now realizing the one thing he ever feared after being in this universe, the one thing he was afraid of losing, he lost.

i enjoy when there is a gayass evil guy. the same part of me that went insane crazystyle for scar lionking as a kid goes crazy for sadeas now

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

i like that he is very much in touch with himself and knows himself intimately well but he does not share that knowledge with Anyone and curates himself extremely much. its so fun. like hes most like his true self with ialai but even with her theres stuff hes keeping from her (like that he DOESNT like stupid ass fashion and only really wears it to be popular and make a point). be true to yourself deep down but be a fake bitch for others always and forever

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

oh my fucking god i could write and i pretty much have written an essay about how much the bit in ob 3 where sadeas "rounds up weeping women to have his way with" grinds my fucking gears. in a book series where sexual assault is functionally absent, one of its only appearances is to broadcast to us that the evil guy is evil even though literally the core running through the previous two books is that this evil guy was evil and we are well fucking aware. it isn't given the weight something like this deserves and even though the point is supposed to be "blackthorn dalinar committed horrible atrocities but sadeas always went one step farther", the fact that in ob 2 dalinar was reminiscing about how many fond memories he had with sadeas back in the blackthorn days means that dalinar was 1. letting this happen 2. even in the present day has no qualms with it. and like thats dalinar! thats paragon of morality dalinar! basically what im saying is that brandon didnt think all the ramifications through and it feels like he just put it in to be edgy. and i do not like it

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

does the fandom do anything with sadeas. like literally anything. i guess they draw him getting ganked by adolin and those are usually bangers of art pieces. so that i guess

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

the fandom at large doesnt seem to remember anything about what sadeas looks like, like in terms of details like hair length and facial features and stuff, and sometimes they dont even get the memo that he's not white, but gee a huge chunk of these people sure do remember that he was described as Stout in words of radiance once. gee i wonder why the only thing you remember about the 1. evil 2. ugly character is that he's fat. (sometimes there are artists that get Literally Everything Wrong about how sadeas looks and they also draw him thin, but its often by artists who give Literally Everyone the exact same body type (Drawing Mannequin Thin) anyway. either way there is no winning)

Prestwald Hall

I'm sharing Prestwald Hall . This is the 9th building for my English Manors Collection, and I will add many more!

House History: Prestwold Hall was, for many years, the seat of the Packe family. Before that time, it was the home of the Skipwith family. After the death of Major Robert Christopher Packe (born c.1783) - one time Aide-de-camp to King George III - who was killed during the Battle of Waterloo, the hall passed to his nephew George Hussey Packe who held the hall and estate until his death in 1874.

The Hall was remodelled by architect William Burn in 1842–1844, incorporating the fabric of a mid-18th-century H-plan house. It was Grade I listed in 1951.

One of the finest rooms inside the house is the Entrance Hall with its richly coloured marbled plaster work in the Italian style. The painted ceiling was inspired by Raphael’s Vatican grotesques and incorporates miniature landscapes, showing the house before and after its remodelling between 1842 and 1844. Below the ceiling, wreathing the room, are small medallion busts of the poets from Chaucer to Scott, positioned in the spandrels and are likely inspired by Alberti's external arcade at the Tempio Malatestiano in Rimini. An arcade opens on to a vaulted corridor leading to a top lit inner hall: these spaces also marbled. Off the corridor, the cantilevered stone staircase survives from the eighteenth century house, and was given its bracketed brass balusters by William Wilkins (1751-1815) in 1805.

The Dining Room, added by Wilkins in 1805, was incorporated into the remodelling undertaken by the Scottish architect William Burn in 1842. The room is overlooked by two dramatic full length portraits of Sir Edward Hussey Packe, KBE (1878 – 1946) and the Hon. Lady Mary Sydney Packe (née Colebrooke, 1890 – 1973) by the painter Glyn Philpot RA (1844 – 1947). The portrait of Lady Packe, painted in 1911, was described by the art historian Robin Gibson OBE as an ‘amazing feat of virtuosity’. Its elongated elegance and introspective characterisation is totally without the fashion-plate vulgarity of much Edwardian portraiture. Other portraits hang in this room of the Packe family including a painting of Sir Christopher Packe (1595 – 1682) who purchased the house in the 17th century painted by Cornelis Janssens van Ceulen (1593 –1661).

The library extends nearly the entire length of the house when the large doors that separate it from the drawing room are opened, connecting the two rooms. With clever use of constructional steel, William Burn was able to create these long adjoining rooms. The windows rise from floor level and open onto the garden which enhances the notion that Prestwold was designed in the style of an Italian classical villa. The doors and bookcases in library were made for George Hussey Packe (1846–1908) by Gillows of Lancaster and London in 1875.

A conservatory fills the recessed central bay at the front of the house, and projects out towards the garden. Behind the glass and elegant Doric pilasters, are well planted raised beds with a number of exotic plants and flowers

Talking "Mama Kaiba" Headcanon

As I've said in my Yu-Gi-Oh headcanon list, I headcanon Kaiba as an intersex capable of childbearing, and he and Atem have too many kids to count. But I figured it's good to sit down and go over this in detail.

(if I got any science or anatomical stuff messed up, I'd appreciate it if someone let's me know! I tried to do some research on my own but any intersex individuals with their own knowledge are welcome to come forward and offer their own experiences)

Anatomy

Kaiba outwardly presents as a male, having a penis and testes, but internally has a fully female reproductive system, including ovaries, uterus, vaginal opening, etc.

His testes produce little to no sperm and his penis does not function properly, so he's not capable of getting anybody else pregnant and often goes into hospital to treat infections and slight incontinence.

His female reproductive system functions near normal, and Kaiba has irregular periods. His doctors tell him he's capable of becoming pregnant, but pregnancy opens up avenues of complications.

Kaiba eventually undergoes surgery to reroute and fix his urinary tract, to reduce his complications and UTIs that he frequently experiences. (now this is something that I'm not entirely certain about actually being possible so I'd appreciate insight) He tries to keep his testes to try and regulate his male hormones but it's not fruitful. He eventually has them removed in favor of hormone replacement to properly regulate his hormones

Conception and Contraceptives

Kaiba has to take hormone shots to balance his testosterone and has to frequently get bloodwork done to check his t-levels. This lowers Kaiba's chances of conception but not entirely

Atem doesn't use condoms since Kaiba has such a low window of conception. Kaiba is aware of this and doesn't believe he can conceive.

Eventually one of their "fun in the sheets" sessions yields an unexpected offspring

Pregnancy Symptoms and Complications

Kaiba has to halt his T shots and start taking estrogen to try and keep his pregnancy stable. The increase in estrogen causes Kaiba's features to soften, he gains small breasts, and his voice gets softer. It's a jarring change for many, but especially Kaiba himself.

During his first pregnancy, with the first set of twins, Kaiba nearly miscarries twice and is placed on strict bedrest by his OB. Kaiba does not like being unable to leave his bed or confined to working from his laptop.

Despite not wanting this pregnancy or wanting to grow attached, Kaiba does. It's hard not to when he envisions himself being a caring father, unlike anything Gozaburo had been to him.

Kaiba does experience body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria during his pregnancy. Atem convinces him to speak to his therapist about it, as Kaiba was forced into therapy by both Atem and Mokuba.

Kaiba has severe morning sickness during his pregnancy, and can only hold down ginger tea and lightly buttered toast during his first trimester. Anti-nausea medication does very little to help him.

Kaiba has a lot of back and hip pain due to the weight of the twins in his stomach.

Kaiba suffers from Braxton Hicks contractions in the last two months of his pregnancy.

Labor and Delivery

Kaiba actually has a hard time realizing when he's in labor, as his contractions are light and feel like his Braxton Hicks contractions.

His water breaks on March 30th at 1 AM, waking him from his light sleep.

Atem rushes him to the hospital immediately, both anxious to meet the twins. Kaiba is admitted at about 1:45

Kaiba takes about 12 hours to dilate to 6 cm. The doctors have him walk his room to try and help him with his contractions and help him dilate. Despite his anxieties, Kaiba is calm and collected, viewing this as his greatest duel yet.

Kaiba is then moved to his bed despite him not wanting to lie down. Atem has to keep him from screaming at the doctors too much.

It takes Kaiba about 5 more hours to fully dilate. By then their friends have arrived, all ready to meet the "little Kaibas"

Kaiba delivers the first twin, Kaida Rose Kaiba-Sennen, at 1:26 AM on March 31st

The second twin, Yami Ryuuki Kaiba-Sennen, shortly follows at 1:34 AM

Post-Delivery and Beyond

Kaiba, shockingly, is a natural mother. All he wants is to hold his kids close and protect them from the cruelty of the world, to shield them from the hardship HE had to face in his life to get where he is now. He can provide his daughter and son with the security and love he was denied.

Atem actually has to fight to hold his kids after birth, as Kaiba almost never puts them down. Just passing the kids around for their friends to meet barely goes over well. And Joey holding the twins nearly sends Kaiba into a fit if the look from Atem had not silenced him.

Atem recognizes that Kaiba is overprotective of their kids based on his own life experiences. And Atem knows it's something Kaiba will need to work through it eventually with his therapist.

Despite his overprotectiveness, Kaiba does not baby his kids or spoil them rotten. Despite the financial security he can provide them, he recognizes their need to find their path in the world and learn maturity and responsibility. He's strict, but not overly so. He wishes for them to grow strong like him and Atem, and not be spoiled and entitled. He can't let power go their heads like it once did his own.

As their family slowly grows, welcoming Ryuuki, then Sara, the second set of twins Koyo and Noctis, and finally partially deaf Samira, Kaiba slowly learns the ups and downs of parenting with each addition. The anxiety sickness brings, the pride of his childrens accomplishments, and the struggle of teaching all the kids sign language for Samira's sake.

Parenthood changes Kaiba, making him compassionate and loving, but it sharpens his protective drive and fierce nature. Anyone who dares bully his children will soon find Seto Kaiba at their door with a dark glint in his eyes.

When his kids hit their teen years, Kaiba begins to prepare them, teaching them about KaibaCorp to decide who will take his place as CEO and President of the company. He tells them that whoever does not becomes his heir will still have a valuable role in the company. (For example, Noctis could run the KC Space Program like he dreams of, and Samira the Accessibility program)

do you have any opinions on wayland, the state of the project or migrating to using it?

kinda! i don't know much about the state of the project beyond how it impacts me as an end user: wayland seems ready to me, and xwayland is there to help. but i have to imagine it breaks many people's more complex workflows.

unfortunately hyprland (wayland compositor) is no xmonad, which is a sentiment i have towards the three wayland compositors i'm aware of. but xmonad is near perfection, being my all time favourite tiling window manager for xorg, so it's easy to complain... some features are harder to build.

i hear hikari (wayland compositor) is cwm-like but have not confirmed, cwm being my all time favourite floating window manager for xorg.

i don't think i would have switched without reason to switch, but i'm driving 3 monitors of different refresh rates and wanted to utilize that properly. xorg can't handle differing refresh rates elegantly...

migrating to wayland will probably be painful for anyone no matter what because your lockscreen, screensaver, screenshot tools can not come with you.

configuring some basic xmonad-like functionality i wanted in hyprland was straightforward

hyprland seems to handle extremely well, for the most part: things like fractional scaling between different monitors is smooth, didn't think that was possible..

one major issue i currently have with hyprland is that obs crashes the entire compositor when it's put into tiling mode. so i just only float it.. (more specifically: trying to move something into the current/former obs tiling space will sometimes crash the entire compositor)

the fractional scaling of xorg application using xwayland is so disgusting looking (nearest neighbor rendering?) i disabled it, but that's fine by me. most of my windows are firefox browser or kitty terminal, so i'm well supported there.

hyprland is also overly oriented towards eye candy bullshit to such an extent it's a bit ridiculous. everything in this regard is disable-able. but at the same time i am currently using the squircle-corners in my config, which looks crisp af.

happy to expand on any of this, but didn't want to ramble on.

Why does it feel like it’s raining lava instead?” Alex wipes his forehead of the sweat relieved to feel the cool air inside the hospital hit him as he and Jo go inside ready to start their day by taking Luna to daycare, “Can you answer me that Little Moon? Why does it feel like the sun is getting closer to us?”

“Because the world is turning into a global warming nightmare.” Jo replies grumpy from the heat as well sipping her melting cold coffee, “And nobody with power is doing anything about it and the powerless people are just chanting and holding up signs like that’s gonna scare the pollution away.”

“Luna I’m gonna buy you a special suit because at this rate your gonna turn to ash every time you leave the house.” Alex suggests gazing at the cold drink in his wife’s hand, “I really need some of that.”

“Then you should have gotten your own.” Jo teases sipping her drink with an evil grin, “Instead you said coffee should be drunk warm, not cold.”

“And my old man ways have come back to bite me.”

“Just get some coffee from the lounge and put a couple of ice cubes in it.” Jo suggests, “It’s not that hard.”

“I think I’ll just have the ice.” Alex groans wiping his sweaty face with his sleeve, “How’s your day gonna look?”

“Well extreme heat can cause preterm labor, so OB is gonna be a mess.”

“Same in peds. A lot of heatwaves make kids go to the lake where either a jet ski will run them down or they’ll get an infection from a filthy fish bite.”

“So it’s a fun day for both of us.”

“Maybe Mer had the right idea moving to Boston. I mean it mostly snows over there, and you don’t have to worry about excessive heat and preterm labor.”

Jo chuckles at his logic, “No just frost bite and icy pavements that cause you to hit your head.”

“My brain is literally fried today; I have no function to think right now.” They check Luna into daycare, “Okay Little Moon, you have fun inside your cool room while mommy and daddy become rotisseries for you for dinner tonight.”

Jo shakes her head with an amused grin, “Okay Luna Bear have a good day today, we love you so much.” The parents each kiss Luna goodbye before leaving to start their hot day.

Later

“It was painful enough for me to give birth in normal circumstances, I can’t imagine what it’s like in this heat.” Amber DeLuca nee Karev complains to her sister-in-law, Jo Karev, while they walk down the hall to get ice for their respective patients from the break room, “How are you holding up?”

“Well extreme heat causes preterm labor and an increasing need for ice chips.” Jo tells Amber as they enter the room, “Is your AC still out?”

“Unfortunately.” Amber and Andrew DeLuca’s AC in their house blew out last night and they have been desperate for cold relief in the hospital, “I’ve called 10 different fix it guys and their all slammed so my husband is insisting that he can take care of it himself.”

“Andrew isn’t a Handy Manny?”

“Not even close.” Amber opens the ice chest to find it empty, “Damn it! Is there anything that can go right for us today?!”

Alex enters the room holding a tray for ice chips too, “Hey, I’m here to get ice.”

“It’s empty.” Jo informs Alex who groans, “Have you tried the cafeteria?”

“Yeah, I’ll go down there. Maybe there’s a load left in the ICU; you guys can check there.”

“I’ll go to the attendings lounge on three, hopefully the navy scrubs don’t hog it for themselves.” Amber leaves her brother and his wife to their own dilemmas.

Alex turns to leave when Jo calls him, “Oh! Hey if you’re going to the cafeteria could you get me-”

Before she can even finish, Alex pulls out a packet of Sno Balls from his coat that he gives to Jo who looks startled that he can read her mind, “I found like three boxes in the trash this morning and I know it wasn’t Luna because she would be crawling the walls on hyper speed. You’re lucky I don’t like coconut, enjoy.”

Jo grins at her generous husband, “You’re the best.”

“I know.” Alex smugly grins, “I really gotta go I’ll see you later.”

“Yeah me too.” Jo and Alex quickly leave the room to go on their icy quest. Jo goes to the ICU only to find the chest empty as well. She goes to the clinic downstairs, and it met by Lucas Adams who is also looking for ice. Along the way they argue over who gets first dibs.

“My patient's got a temperature of 105.”

“Oh, yeah? Well, mine's 104 and pregnant”

“You know, pregnancy doesn't automatically trump everything else.” Lucas argues with Jo who is having none of it.

“Well, I trump you, and so does my husband and his sister and her husband so I should get the rest of the ice.” Ben Warren rushes past them and scoops up the last of the ice from the chest to Jo’s anger, “No, no, no, no, no, no. That's my ice!”

“There's a machine in the attendings' lounge. Try there.”

“Empty.” Lucas informs Warren.

“The cafeteria, then?” The residents frown at that as they know the answer, “ICU? Dermatology?”

Jo groans pulling her phone out, “Okay, I will be the adult and order some.”

“Thank you.” Warren walks past them before turning back, “Oh, you know what? There's a convenience store over on Pine. You should probably go there it’s faster.”

“Why are you bossing me around?” Jo asks incredulously.

“Because I'm dealing with overflow for Chief.” Warren explains impatient, “We barely have enough orderlies, and, well, you know, we need ice. Load as much as you can in your car and just hurry back.” Warren leaves them with Jo glaring at Adams expecting him to do so.

“I didn't drive today.” Lucas informs her with regret.

Jo shakes her head, “Okay, we'll take my car.” Jo and Lucas leave for a simple errand that they are both unaware will prove more challenging and life threatening than they expect.

✨AnoVerse Gameplay (Scoring) Stuff✨

I'm gonna be so real I'm mainly doing this cos I wanted to share new prototype footage but OBS was kicking my butt so instead. Screenshot and ramble about how the games score system will work :D

As you might be able to see above, the prototype is. Coming along. Compared to the last bit of footage I put on my tumblr. I've still PLENTY to do, such as level assets, backgrounds, proper UI, etc. But functionality is kinda my core focus besides from the odd now and then switch to the graphics (i.e. when I got sick of the static player and red walls).

The first thing I really want to talk about is what platforming features I want to just have in this game. You can see in the screenshot above a point system, "sparks", a timer, and down in the bottom left a combo system. These are the most fundemental gameply features for seeing how well you do in a level.

Completing a level will give you a rank from "Eh" to "Incredible" which is based off of your score and time. To get the highest rank, the required targets must be met. Hopefully, I can make the ranks balance out, so say if your score was bad your time might make up for it, but for a true perfect rank you must meet the max requirements for both.

Ways you can up your score is by collecting sparks and attacking enemies - fights being the more impactful way to earn points. Sparks are more so a currency, being useful in various shop points. Collecting one will net you a small point score of 10 - and will charge up your combo meter. While they may not be worth many points, they can work well for quick resets to your meter if you need a little extra time before reaching your next enemy.

I can't lie I took a break from writing uuhhh here's some older concept art trying to figure out the direction I wanted to go for level UI.
