can I say something is this a safe space. it's kind of fascinating that ford is meant to read as a deeply repressed character and a capital s Scientist no less but he leads this other half of his life entirely dedicated to the occult. in the 70's-80's. like the historical connotations of the occult and what they represented in the united states at least seems kind of interesting in this context. for no reason in particular I find the dual aspects of "extremely dedicated to presenting as a logical, steadfast researcher trying to earn respect and social acceptance to the point of hinging all of his self worth on this vision for the future working out" and "deeply tied to the paranormal and "unsavory black magic" and everything Weird/freakish but feels like he needs to hide this aspect of himself from even the people closest to him" Very interesting. hiding six-fingered hands compulsively behind his back even if it's the emblem he puts on his journals. "what are you attracted to?" and "maybe you're simply attracted to things that hurt you" from two different points in the book. sweet dreams (are made of this) on the record player. hey does anyone know what that tarot card with a snake on it is meant to represent

Establishing a healthy relationship with ritual purity
Ritual purity is one of the many ideas that perennially appears in most religious and spiritual paradigms throughout the world. Many people struggle to integrate it into their daily lives, and some even disregard it altogether, so here I'll elaborate on some points concerning it, give some practical advice, and the theory behind it.
Why is ritual purity important to the Gods?
Preparing a pure body, space, and mind before a ritual is a sign of respect, first and foremost. As you'd never invite an important guest into a messy house, you'd also not invoke a deity into a messy room. If you went to an important dinner and the other person appeared dirty, underdressed, and overall in a state of neglégé, you likely wouldn't see that as polite or respectful in that setting. Thus, preparing a pure space and body are outward symbols of devotion and respect.
Why is ritual purity important for you?
Taking the time before a ritual to neaten up your room, take a shower, pefrom and ablution, perhaps even perfume yourself, and the space helps you get into the proper headspace for the ritual. It takes away the mundane thoughts by the virtue of having you focus on a task that is inherently related to a divine matter. I also found that it motivates me to maintain cleanliness even when I'm not otherwise feeling well.
How to ritually purify a space/yourself?
Depending on your tradition, you may already have specific ablutions and requirements in place for doing this, and if this is the case, definitely stick to those. A general method, however, would be to set the intention to cleanse on both a physical and spiritual level and then just clean/declutter your space as you usually would. After this, it would also be good to perform some kind of a banishing ritual (the LBRP always does the trick, but stuff such as spritzing with moon water can also work).
As for your body, make the same intention as you did above and take a shower.
When is ritual purification necessary?
If you have recently washed yourself or cleaned your space and altar, obviously, you don't need to do it again. You should, however, symbolically do a gesture of cleansing, such as waving away the stagnant energies with your hand, declaring an already clean space pure before ritual, etc. If you have recently showered, washing your hands and face with the intention of purification would also work fine.
How to avoid the common pitfalls?
The first and most important thing to note is that, if you are, for some justified reason, unable to purify yourself and your space, you can still say your prayers or make your offerings. The Gods will always hear you in your time of need and will always help you. A good way to compensate would be to just pray for them to cleanse your space and you. HOWEVER, this doesn't mean that you should just go lazy and not try and make yourself purify before a ritual. This is an important branch of discipline and health, and neglecting it in the long term will have negative consequences for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is important for you to establish a good relationship with spiritual hygiene and to make a good regiment and schedule for getting it done. It is one of those things many people struggle with, but upon doing it, you will inevitably see the benefits in the long run.
Bonus Prompt - Seasonal Magic
Okay everyone, with the changing of the seasons and an eclipse on the way, let’s take a look at the different seasons and how they influence our practices. If you feel so inclined, make a page for each individual season, or if you can fit all you’re going to put on the page on a single page, just do one.
What does each individual season mean to you on a personal level? What does each one represent?
Do the seasons influence the kind of magic you can/ do perform?
Do you have certain rituals that only happen in each season?
What associations does each season have? Animals, tools, plants, feelings, everything!
What months/ days encompass these seasons?
How do the transitional periods between the seasons influence you and your practice? When are the transitional periods? What marks the transitions between them?
What kinds of activities do you do, both magical and mundane, that pertain to each season and how do these influence your perception of each season?
Are there myths, legends or deities that you associate with each season?
Any information you can find about the seasons, anything you feel or know about the seasons, add it to your grimoire, your repository of knowledge!
Good luck and happy crafting!
my personal everyday "witchy" habits
drinking green tea with herbs and such depending on how moody i am: chamomile, mint, ginger, cinnamon, rosemary, honey, lavender... based on spiritual and ¿medical? correspondences. i also try to eat as healthy as possible during the weekdays and do some kitchen witchcraft on time to time.
on that sort of same line (and don't take this advice if you're not already a smoker) making my own herbal cigarettes, rolling like 40 cigarettes by hand is a whole meditative process i swear. i do have access to ethically buy some tobacco straight from natives in my area but that and the herbals are not my main smoking choice.
cleaning before going to bed, not even cleansing just cleaning the mess I've made during the day.
lighting candles or incense on my altar: candles are expensive tho so its more common i light different incense sticks during the day. (yes i reek of tobacco and incense).
at least shuffle my comfort tarot deck. i think this is relatable but some of my decks have super strong cut throat energies (we love a no bullshit straight to the point reading but maybe not everyday), but my first tarot deck is always comforting idk.
journal the shit out of my feelings because some days i have a lot of them and I can't even keep up with my own brain being annoying like that. also my therapist appreciates it.
i do wear some protective jewelry but i make sure that the pieces are not easily seen. same with crystals around the house, they are concealed just in case. on time to time i do also stain my skin with protective symbols, but again always concealed.
and shout out to self care, keeping up with my schedule and my mundane tasks. i swear i get so weirded out by free time, like i started this blog because i got a few extra hours to do something other than my job and studying.
It’s done! My clay, hand-sculpted and hand-painted, baphomet-based statuette that I made for work with a coven entity, with a custom sigil replacing the caduceus. Detail pictures below cut.
🔮 spirituality vs witchcraft ✨
many people (especially beginner witches) confuse these two a lot. but where are the differences? what makes one spiritual, when are you a witch?
let's start with spirituality.
spirituality is your very own belief system. that system can be influenced by your religion, your local folklore or the belief in chakras for example. spiritualists believe in the human soul and negative/positive energy. your own way of looking at spirituality may also be different depending on where you grew up; your culture, your family.
HOWEVER, spirituality does NOT equal witchcraft.
witchcraft is, as its name already says, a craft. a personal practice. while witchcraft can be based on culture and religion too, it's more than just a belief in a higher being or magic; it's the combination of that belief and the actual physical practice (such as spells, rituals, chants, ceremonies, kitchen magick, herbal magick and so on).
so in conclusion: being spiritual doesn't automatically make you a witch. being a witch requires a physical practice. and being spiritual for many years doesn't mean that you have the actual experience to call yourself an advanced witch, please keep that in mind!
many spiritualists don't even touch witchcraft. really, it's up to you - find your own path without appropriating and westernizing cultures you don't belong to. always keep that in mind 🖤
also: wicca and witchcraft ARE NOT necessarily the same. wicca is a nature-based religion, witchcraft is the general name for any practice!
Hey @partycoffin! Not sure if you’ll see this, but it felt important enough to ask
TL;Dr everything sucks so I’m starting a cult! Official documentation is still a work in progress, so I can’t share much other than our main tenant is “Do no harm!”
I wanted to make myself something fun so I decided to customize a jean jacket. I ended up messing up one of the front panels with sharpie, only to realize the Wally darling art from one of the makeship plush bags fit perfectly as a patch! So I added it. I realized after the fact that you may not want to have your art/character associated with occult practices.
So I thought I’d ask! Should I keep him on the jacket or should I remove him?
Any practitioner must inner-stand that the real rites aren’t done in candlelight, but In descent. The most powerful journeys don’t take you elsewhere… they pull you inward. Sometimes into the places you swore you’d never return to. That’s the magick. That’s the path. Everything else is surface work.
