I hate phone calls. I've told my family this many many times and they think it doesn't apply to them, or choose to not remember it or who knows. But they also complain I don't call them enough. So I've been sending them updates about my ants every day. A nice photo or a drawing of what the ants were doing.

No response. No comment.

I text "well everyone says I never communicate, but if I talk about ants ya'll don't care."

And this makes mom call me!

Can someone constantly calling you affect your mental health? I have this issue, were the person will call the landline and wake us up, when we are dealing with important issues (knowing it too), call when we are dealing with the children (they live on the same property, can hear the kids when they have their tantrums/being loud, and will call us and ask what's going on) etc., and I swear to god, dealing with this damn phone is worse than the kids.

Yes, it can elevate your stress and anxiety for sure. It can be the last thing you need to happen when you’re dealing with crap. And, there is such thing as phone-specific anxiety, a type of social anxiety that very directly involves phones.

So absolutely it can affect the mental health, you don’t even need to have a history of trauma related to phones.

But, for the original ask here, it also seems like someone is being nosy and pestering you, which in itself is also known to deteriorate the mental health. Whether they mean it maliciously or not, this seems like something you need to discuss with them. There are things that aren’t their business, or things that they can only make worse by butting in.

Phone Calls Seeking "Jack"

Young couple Alia Charan 24 and Kevin Dixon 28 have been plagued by a series of unusual phone calls to their landline, demanding to speak to somebody called "Jack".

"At first the phone call was a very polite," Charan said, "but over time they became more and more insistent and aggressive that somebody called Jack lived here when they don't. I literally don't know anyone called Jack at all." The phantom callers were of all accents and ages. They repeatedly told them that nobody called Jack lived at that residence but still the calls persisted at all hours of the day and night.

When questioned the callers seemed unable to explain why they wanted Jack or who he was. In actual fact when pressed they seemed confused as to why they were phoning and hung up.

Eventually Charan had the presence of mind to enter into a conversation with one of the callers and ask what address they thought they were phoning. She was told and recognised the address - not as their own but as one nearby - so they decided to go for a little walk and find the address. Only to discover that the address didn't exist. "The numbers on that road just don't go high enough!" Dixon reported. "It wasn't even a residential street."

To add to the strangeness, after their little trip, all mystery calls to their number ceased immediately. Dixon reported it felt as though they were being surveilled because how did the callers know that they had checked out the address?

You know what I hate... what I absolutely despise.....when you leave your phone by itself for a few seconds to go pee. And in that time you get a phonecall and when you hurry yourself off the toilet to pick it up, it ends.
