Thinking about the song "Ship in Port" by Radical Face and clones
Thinking about the line "Farewell to the chains we were born into" and what that can mean for the clones
Thinking about how "But I have always stayed in place/Under that old illusion that it's safe" could equally describe Hunter, Echo, and (s1+2) Crosshair's complete opposite approaches to the Empire and post-war life.
The way Crosshair clings to his identity as a soldier of the Empire
And Echo as a soldier of the Republic
But Hunter puts his identity as a soldier behind him
Crosshair fights for the Empire to gain purpose
Echo fights against the Empire to save his brothers
And Hunter decides the Empire is too strong to even try to oppose
"A ship in port is a safer one"
"but it's not the reason it was made"
"So forgive me if I wander off"
"And forgive me more if I just stay"
Thinking about what The Bad Batch could have been if it had more fully explored the differences between those ideologies
(Thinking about what The Bad Batch could have been if it had dedicated more screen time to the 'reg' clones within the Empire and the underground network's fight to free them , instead of just sidelining Echo and Rex for a hypothetical clone rebellion show we might never get)

New Peter and Edmund song.... 'Always Gold' by Radical Face.
Specifically: We were opposites at birth / I was steady as a hammer / No one worried 'cause they knew just where I'd be / And they said you were the crooked kind / That you would never have no worth / But you were always gold to me
And why am I imagining when Ed gets mean at school, before Narnia, Peter defending his brother in all sorts of little ways that Ed never knows? whether it's waylaying someone on their way to give Ed a drubbing, or just protesting when other boys call Ed all sorts of names that he totally deserves, and sometimes Peter calls him those things, but no, Peter's the only one allowed to, don't you understand how family works? I'm gonna kill him, Peter says. You might not have to, says Mister Beaver. But no, no, no one else is allowed to say things like that, no that's wrong, only I'm allowed to lay a finger on him. Because I will never really hurt him.
Because Peter believes, knows, his brother can be better. Ed might be his shadow but he's as bright as as any star to Peter. Always gold.

Commissions
Nothing is required, but if you want to support a queer autistic student living alone and with meds/rent/utilities to pay, here's my art commission info!
Status: OPEN
I also draw ponies! Pricing is the same as it is for humans :3
INFO
🍃Payment will be via Paypal and is marked in USD
🍃If interested, please DM me here or email me at
[email protected] - if you email me, your email title needs to reference the topic of commissions ("commission inquiry" or "art commissions"). If not, I will ignore the email. I do recommend DMing here as I will most likely respond faster
🍃Please have a clear idea of what you want before messaging me - sending references for poses/clothing/sceneries is highly recommended!
🍃Half the payment upfront, the other half after you've approved the sketch. After this I won't do any drastic changes to the commission
🍃Prices aren't negotioable unless I say otherwise
🍃I have the right to refuse any commission I feel uncomfortable with
🍃Completing a commission depends on the complexity. I will try to finish any commission within a week but I can't promise anything. I draw art on my free time and it's secondary to real life events that might interfere with finishing any piece.
🍃I might not reply instantly due to timezones/irl stuff, but I will do my best to get in contact with you within 24 hours of you messaging me <3
For now, I'm not setting any slots but depending on interest, I might set a limit in the future. I'm also planning on setting up a Kofi for commissions in near future and will update this when I do.

Ben Cooper (Radical Face) in his Spotify Wrapped message be like "I really think there are better things you could be listening to, but thank you"
Man. Guy. I have kept Radical Face snugly against my heart for years and enthusiastically recommended him to everybody who would listen. His songs have inspired so much creativity, I've named so many short stories after them, made characters based on them, and named my first finished novel-length story Homesick. RF kept me calm and helped me sleep when I was in the hospital for my brain ("Letters Home" and "From the Mouth of an Injured Head" were dear to me then). "The Mute" is the most beautiful song I've ever heard about the autistic experience. I'm a queer exmormon from an abusive household and "Bad Blood" cuts so deep into that wound and lets it bleed like it needs to. I sang "Servants and Kings" to my partner on our seventh anniversary. Singing "Wrapped in Piano Strings" helped ground me through a horrific time involving my family. "Everything Costs" describes pretty much exactly what happened with them and my place in it.
No, RF didn't save my life per se, but damn, he sure has inspired me to feel my emotions and find sometimes heartbreaking beauty in them and use them to make something new. Like water, RF keeps everything moving, helps wash away the grime, helps break dams that need to be broken.
No there are not better things I could be listening to, Ben.
