Online vs. Offline Robotics Courses in India- Which is Better?

Robotics is a rapidly growing and expanding field which blends the components of mechanical engineering, computer-science, and technology.
The requirement for robotics professionals is at its peak as this field is progressing towards automation and AI.
In India too, students from tech background as well as professionals are enrolling for robotics courses in order to learn about the same.
Embrace one of the most easily accessible courses, combined with higher tuition, or do you take the traditional offline course, which of course has more self-study material.
Each has its pros and cons, and the choice between them ultimately depends on how you choose to play and what you value.
In this blog post, weâll explore the pros and cons of online and offline robotics courses in India to help you make an informed decision.

I'm delighted that I got this new Matchbox Morgan Plus Four.

I adore Morgans; always have. While they are less than practical in most cases, they tick every other box for me. Let's explore what Morgans are and why I love them.

Morgan is a British company - which is still fully true to my knowledge, because in this ridiculous world we currently occupy, there are degrees to this sort of statement. MG was a British company, got acquired by a Chinese consortium and, with its cars built in China, is in no sense beyond the historical a British company; Land Rover still build its cars in the UK but it's owned by Tata of India. Are Land Rover still British? I'd say yes, but it's arguable. But Morgan is owned partly by the family of founder Henry Morgan (along with a private equity group, because you can't fucking escape the bullshit of 2025) and operate from Malvern in Worcestershire (pronounced "WOOstersheer"), as it has since 1909. This is crucial in understanding what Morgan is about; the company is a small-volume producer, because they still build all their cars by hand.

No robots, no mass-production. Every single one is bespoke, uniquely built to the customer's specifications, and as someone with an incessant urge to customise everything this is an extremely appealing attribute. It's hard to overstate how much I like the idea of a coachbuilt car made by craftspeople with decades of experience, but with modern technology and reliability. They have three models presently, the Plus Four, the Supersport and the Super 3 (recently made by Hot Wheels). Past models included the 4/4 with 4 seats, the +8 with a V8 and the Aero, which was an enclosed and streamlined model, along with a whole tine of 3-wheelers.

They are largely aluminium in construction, with a wooden subframe, which makes them very light. Of course, the look is iconic and dates back to around 1936, revised a little in 1950 and not much since, although it's often tweaked and given modernised tech. Morgan don't make their own engines, and the current range use BMW inline engines for the 4-wheelers (a 2-litre B48B20O1 turbo i4 making 255 hp for the Plus Four, and a 335hp B58B30C i6 with a twin-scroll turbo for the Supersport) and a Ford 3-cylinder for the 3-wheeler Super 3. Past models have used Ford, Mazda and Rover engines

They're all RWD, with auto or manual options that hit 60 in about 5 seconds in the Plus Four, and a sub 4-second 60 via auto only in the Supersport. What results is a sports car in the classic sense that Mazda was aiming for with the MX-5, not brutally powerful or transcendently fast but small, low, responsive, agile and focused on being fun to drive. They have only the space behind the seats for cargo, plus an optional rack on the back, and while third-party rigid hardtops exist there's no factory option, so they'd be pretty hard to live with as primary everyday cars, but as a car for enjoying driving, and as drivable art, I think there's probably none better.

Notably with this, it's basically exactly the same size as the 1:55 Siku +8, which is odd, as the little figures are supposed to be 1:75 scale but seem pretty well fitted to the car. The Super 3 is a bit larger scale, while the Majorette (the more battered green one, which has HW real riders but is very much not a HW model) is a touch longer. The inability of diecast makers to stick to a single scale drives me up the wall.

The Lead Theory AU
Basically this au stems from a fun little theory I made that lead isn't just a reoccurring character in dystopia, but also every single incredibox version. As I thought more about this au, I thought of fun little ways to make the version more personal to lead instead of just being their own things.
The story of the au is that lead is, of course, a robot, and he was built to be as close to a human as possible. Each version represents him learning more and more about humans and their world, being able to travel to different times, places, and even universes.
What I have so far:
Alpha - just where he was built in France in the 2000s. Nothing much to learn besides basic human stuff like necessities, language, and the human body.
Little miss - very mixed bag. Little miss, taking place in Italy in the mid 1970s, is simply about learning human love, lust, and overall just deeper human connection, while also learning about the violence humans experience and project onto others or themselves.
Sunrise - unlike the others, sunrise doesn't take place in an area or exact time frame, rather the paper drawings of a child. Sunrise is where lead learns about human children and their childhoods, what they like and dislike, etc.
The love - Australia in the early 2010s, the love is a more friendly and wholesome version of what's to learn in little miss, showing the friendlier and more wholesome sides of love and empathy with no harm.
Brazil - simple: human events and overall nature, Brazil takes place in..well.. Brazil in the early 2000s. Not much to say
Alive - in the 2060s of Japan, lead learns more about the technology that built him and how it entertains and helps others in their day to day lives.
Jeevan - lead learns more about different cultures in India of an unknown time. Not much to put here for now
Dystopia - learning about the harms of technology in the way future, lead *tries* to sacrafice himself to destroy it once and for all, feeling as though he had learned enough.
Wekiddy - lead fails to sacrifice himself, only accidentally sending himself back in time to New York in the 1990s. Since he finds that his ability to travel has failed, he finds himself needing to warn everyone about what will happen in the future, but nobody seems to listen to him. While doing so, he learns about human entertainment and pop culture.
Feel free to ask about this au!!

Dark Blue Moon and the Suffering Sun Chapter 32
MASTAPOST
Samson S. Skulker. Wealthy real estate owner, noted trophy hunter. Been on safaris in Botswana, Indonesia, India, and other countries taking big game. Guy hunted just about everything. Elephants, rhinos, tigers, elk, only to come to Elmerton Bay, just an hour away by boat from Amity Island.
It didnât take two brain cells to figure out why. The better question was why Phantom tried to point webbed fingers at him as to the whereabouts of Danny Fenton, a move that was transparently (goddammit Dick and your puns) a lie, according to Bruce. Tim Drake slipped into the manâs more private records without even trying.
Of course, getting the data out and parsing what it meant were two very different things. But he wasnât trained by Batman for nothing. Skulker did make cursory attempts at hiding his electronic paper trail, but cursory was absolutely not enough to keep 13-year-old Tim out, let alone his current self.
Firstly, the man absolutely hunted more exotic, more illegal creatures. That much was clear. Borrowing some of Barbaraâs programmes, Tim found the man travelling to much more remote countries. His little vacations coincided with missing persons reports around the same time.
Missing metas, to be exact. Each person with a power set dangerous to themselves and others. Each person having disappeared without a trace and then never to be found again. The picture Tim was building was getting grimmer.
Secondly, the man was buying parts. Robotics parts, to be exact. Engines, weapons systems, hydraulics. Many of them sourced from Vladco, the company founded by Vlad Masters, an old college friend of Jack and Maddie Fenton, who were the parents to the missing teenager of Timâs current case.
But Danny Fenton did not have the meta-gene, a fact Tim confirmed after yet another concerning breach of privacy. He filed that detail away for later investigating.
Tim pressed a key, letting his programmes run while he got a coffee. Oh sweet delicious coffee. He had once distilled almost pure caffeine into a syrup. It was the most horrible thing heâd tasted in his life, but the buzz kept him up all night, that was until his heart started giving out. That was less enjoyable.
What was also less enjoyable was the revving motorcycle heading into the Batcave. Two motorcycles, in fact. Just as Timâs afternoon was looking to be peaceful and quiet.
âDonât fucking give me that, Dickwing!â Jason called out.
âIâm fine, Jay, maybe you need to stop hovering over me like some mama bear.â Dick put down his helmet with maybe a little too much force.
Jason hopped off his own bike. âThatâs bullshit and even Timbit knows it.â
Tim shrunk into the Batcomputerâs chair. He so did not want to be a part of this. He just waited for his older brothers to carry their argument out of earshot, like they had been doing regularly now. The men traded strong words with every footstep across the cave.
âMaybe Iâm just a little high strung. Itâs honestly nothing.â
âYou literally cannot fucking say that when I saw you going full-ass Punisher five minutes ago. Like the traffickers yesterday were one thing. Those guys suck. This dude was literally just a mugger. Are you going out of your fucking mind?â
âJason, I thought you were supposed to be the one whoâs all for going full Punisher style?â
Jason groaned loudly, and then transitioned into a frustrated scream. âDo you even hear yourself?!â
The changing room door slammed shut.
That was the second argument in the last two days. If you told Tim that Mr Heads-in-a-Duffle would be lecturing the Golden Child over excessive force, heâd start working on a machine to send you back to the topsy-turvy alternate dimension youâd come from, but apparently his dimension was the topsy-turvy one the whole time. And he hated it.
Turns out Dick inherited more from Bruce than he liked to admit, including his awful coping mechanisms. And to be honest, he was way too tired to even begin to breach this subject.
He should be happy that his literal attempted murderer was going to be out of his hair for a good while, maybe even forever. But even entertaining the thought made him sick enough to avoid the topic in his head for hours, only to think about it again, and get himself sick again.
So back to Skulker it was. Joy.
It turned out his new friend Skulker had made himself a fucking Iron Man rip-off suit, capable of flight, diving, and packed to the gills with fuck-you bazookas, machine guns, and hydroplasm weapons. Hydroplasm guns that heâd sourced from the Fentons themselves, through a long and complicated chain of buyoffs.
And happy day, the man was kind enough to install cameras and microphones, and kept logs from both.
In a surprising twist, it was fiendishly difficult to hack into those logs. Tim was honestly beginning to sweat. He suspected Skulkerâs friends at Vladco (namely Vlad Masters, the sleezeball. Tim never liked him at galas and this only cemented his low opinion) had some secrets that they didnât want out.
No matter, it was only a matter of time. Tim continued typing.
And typing.
And typing.
What the hell was this firewall?! Tim pinched his arm just to make sure this wasnât a sleep-deprivation hallucination. He couldâve sworn heâd gotten through that layer of security. It was like it was shifting itself to cover up his progress and force him to start over. Almost like it was alive.
Against the thunderous backdrop of his brothersâ clashing voices, Tim set himself on overdrive. If he could just act faster than it could correct itself, then maybe, maybe.
A plain error message informed him of the results long after heâd already seen them. Tim kicked the table for good measure. The only thing he could extract was two frames of video footage. They showed, respectively, a T-shirt and pair of sneakers that matched what one of the missing metas was wearing when they were last seen.
Was it damning evidence? Absolutely. But it also proved to him absolutely nothing that he wasnât already suspecting, nothing that could point him in a new direction. Still, it made his stomach churn. He hoped those people would get a better second chance beyond the grave.
Maybe the fact that the data was this well-hidden at all proved something.
The locker room door swung open, his brothers in civvies and glaring at each other, trying to appear civil in front of (right behind) Tim, even though theyâd literally just been shouting at each other ten minutes ago.
âTimmy!â Dick called out. âHow long have you been awake?â
Tim gestured offhanded to his pile of only two used mugs. âNot long enough. Iâm still working. Can you take it upstairs please?â
Jason huffed, and stalked off upstairs without a word, probably too disgusted to be in his and Dickâs presence much longer.
Dick clasped his hands. âItâs fine, Tim. Honestly. Jason and I are just having a little, err, disagreement, is all.â
âHm.â Tim inputted another set of commands. He was starting to see why Bruce liked to say that now. Avoiding painful emotions felt so good. Dick made a pained noise.
âWell, ok. Iâm just gonna head back to Bludhaven now. Say hi to Alfred for me! And contact me if you need anything!â And then he sped off.
Tim shook off the awkwardness like old clothes. Thank goodness for some peace and quiet again. Maybe that was why he was working so hard to help Bruce get the demon child back, so he could return to the status quo, and not this. This hell reality where Dick was as emotionally constipated as Bruce and Jason was the one acting as the voice of reason.
The first night when Bruce called home, the entire family was in an uproar. Dick got a pale look on his face, and was halfway about to take the Batplane and go searching for Damian himself, only for Bruce to remind him that they were all still needed in Gotham and Bludhaven, and whatever few leads there were, Bruce would pursue. It was effortlessly logical, but it was clear Dick hated it. He stormed off in a rage that Tim had only seen when Ethiopia was fresh, when he and Bruce were at their lowest.
And Jason? He got this look on his face that heâd never, ever seen before. Tim had laid awake one night just contemplating it for ages.
Actually, no. He had seen it once before. It was Tim caught Jason looking into what Bruce was doing in the months after Ethiopia. Tim had subtly hacked the phone camera, and the look Jason had then was the same as how he looked when Damian was declared missing.
Tim shook his head. It was a gruesome image, what Bruce had sent them. Damianâs clothes ripped to shreds. The ground stained with his blood. No body in sight.
A little brother who may or may not be dead, something he may or may not be glad or sick to his stomach about. Brothers who were acting like completely different people, and a monster of a man who had to be connected somehow.
A ping appeared in the corner of the screen. The government siren hunting branch appearing in Panama?
Sam Manson sat up in her bed, her body finding some way to release the dread and tension. She looked on at her phone in horror and macabre fascination in equal parts.
This had Danny written all over it. She didnât even need to hear the anchor confirming it to know.
On the one hand, she really wanted to applaud him for fucking them up this bad. The comment section was ripping into the GiW for their actions in Panama, treating the country like it was some vassal state they could romp around in. She personally screenshotted the fucking beautiful mass car crash the GiW had gotten into trying to catch him, and saved it into her favourites folder.
On the other hand, she really wanted to slap him for fucking up this bad. This couldâve easily gone wrong. Danny what were you thinking?! They couldâve got him that time!
And finally, she wanted to yell in frustration, because they had a radio communicator there. Goddammit! If only Tucker had known, they he couldâve hacked in and they couldâve talked to their best friend and actually got an update on what the fuck was going on.
And finally, finally for real, she was so glad, because the GiW wouldâve announced it on every news channel if theyâd actually managed to catch him. Thank fucking goodness.
Ugh, this headache. She really needed to lie down again.
Knock, knock knock knock knock, knock knock.
Dread pooled in her stomach. âCome in,â she said, resigned to her fate.
Grandma Ida, the person she least wanted to see right now, opened the door. She was the kind of woman who never carried herself very seriously, except for in matters of sorcery, and especially when warning Sam on the dangers of her craft. Dangers that Sam had ignored in order to go all out. Now she marched into Samâs bedroom like an executioner.
Grandma stood at the foot of Samâs bed, scanning her closely. âI knew I smelled tinged blood.â She went up to the side, and palmed Samâs forehead. Her hand was freezing cold to the touch. âYou shouldâve called me immediately.â
Sam averted her eyes. She shouldâve, but she didnât.
Her parents never failed to get a rise out of her; she rejected their notions of female beauty and social etiquette in every way, their attempts to hook her up with Tim Drake-Wayne, then Damian Wayne, and she hadnât cowed to them or submitted since she was ten. But with Grandmaâs withering disapproval, she couldnât feel more like a child if she tried.
âIâm sorry.â She whispered.
âI warned you many times of the risks, Sammy. Youâre lucky to be here, and not in the hospital or worse.â
âI know.â
Sam moved to lie on her side, facing away from Granny. Granny had questioned her decision to fight alongside Danny, but allowed it under the condition that she did so safely, and turning your body into a popping water balloon, but with blood, was so not the definition of safe.
And Dannyâs fate was still in question regardless. He wasnât able to cross Panama, and who knows what Damian was doing. What if it was all for naught?
A hand was put on her shoulder. âDid you accomplish what you were set out to do?â
Sam nodded. âYeah.â
âAnd was it worth it?â Yes. Absolutely yes. Danny bled every day for this god-forsaken town of ingrates. Heâd bled for her mistake six months ago.
Granny seemed to understand her feelings. She nodded, and ruffled Samâs hair, and the tension in Samâs body drained away.
âThen I trust your judgement. Can you sit up? Iâve brought some more medicine for you.â
Sam pushed herself against the bunched-up pillows at the headboard. Her head spun from the motion, but she was never one to let her bodyâs limits confine her. âThank you, Bubbe. I love you.â
Granny passed her a brew of herbal medicine, dozens of dried spices and mushrooms brewed together into a blackened sludge that felt like knives into your tongue, but which never failed to get her feeling better. It was a leg up from what big pharma tried to pedal for ten-fold the price.
Sam lifted up the mug to her face. And, oh yeah. Nothing like bitter liquid pain to help with a migraine. She let the hot tea flow over her taste buds, pathing them in cinnamon, star anise and a million other things.
She finished her tea in one satisfying gulp, running her tongue over her teeth and scratching out the lingering aftertaste. As she put the mug down, it revealed Grandmaâs face hovering right in front of her. Sam yelped in shock. âBubbe! You gave me a heart attack!â
Bubbe smiled devilishly. âSo what did you do?â
Samâs mouth gaped open. Leave it to her Grandma to almost kill her from emotional whiplash.
âNow come on, this is a monumental moment for a budding young sorceress like yourself. Why, when I was twenty-two, I used to run with some heroic types myself. We had all sorts of hijinks together.â Bubbe cackled and clasped her hands, eyes going wispy. âMy friends got a heart attack when I pulled off my own hare-brained scheme to topple the evil overlord of the weekâs central command. Hah!â
âWhat?!â Then Sam coughed, and lowered her volume. âWhat do you mean âheroic types.â You just told me you went to some stuffy academy and eloped.â
Bubbe shrugged. âI did do that. Must have forgotten the extra stuff.â
Sam blinked.
She moved to sit beside Sam on the bed. âWe got up to a lot of fun back in the day, and a lot of pain too. I did what I did to protect those I cared for. Did you, bubbeleh?â
She held Samâs hand with a look that reminded her just how many years Grandma had lived, and how many adventures or stories she had yet to tell, how much heartache sheâd had to endure to become the woman she was now. âI projected an illusion all the way off the coast of Panama. It hurt like nothing else in my entire life, butâŠâ She paused. âWe got Phantom out. Heâs safe now, I think.â
Grandma Ida nodded solemnly, the kind of understanding that Sam craved from her parents every waking moment of her teenage career.
âI donât want this to be a regular occurrence, ok?â
âYes, I promise. This was an extreme circumstance.â
âGood. Now, are you well enough for some meditation? It would do well to keep your soul energy flowing.â
Ok, but you have to tell me what you got up to back in the day.â
Granny chuckled, and agreed to it. Sam kicked off her covers, letting her legs get some fresh air. She was probably pushing it, but she needed to recover as quickly as possible. Who knew when she would be needed again?
Maddie Fenton kneeled in the sand. Her hands clamped down on her gun. Her knees shook. Tears prickled in her goggles.
Her baby was right there. He was so close. So fucking close. She could almost touch him, even now.
And he ran away from her. And at first her heart shattered into a million pieces, just like it had when heâd come home after his first disappearance and flinched when she hugged him.
Then she realised. He was protecting her. Some metal menace was shooting at her defenseless son like it was some kind of sick game. The monster of a man had laid fucking landmines on a public beach.
It shouldâve been her protecting him.
Bruce Wayne returned to her side, empty handed. Theyâd scoured this entire beach. Danny couldnât have gone far, she had thought, only for their search to turn up with nothing.
That left only one option. That her enemy doubled back after fleeing, and snatched Danny up without either her or Bruce noticing. Maddieâs heart sank. She shouldâve aimed for the head.
A name pinged in her mind. Phantom had whispered it to her. Skulker.
With nary but nod, she and Bruce mounted their jet skis again.

A hug, a handshake, a therapeutic massage. A newborn lying on a motherâs bare chest.
Physical touch can buoy well-being and lessen pain, depression and anxiety, according to a large new analysis of published research released on Monday in the journal Nature Human Behaviour.
Researchers from Germany and the Netherlands systematically reviewed years of research on touch, strokes, hugs and rubs. They also combined data from 137 studies, which included nearly 13,000 adults, children and infants. Each study compared individuals who had been physically touched in some way over the course of an experiment â or had touched an object like a fuzzy stuffed toy â to similar individuals who had not.
For example, one study showed that daily 20-minute gentle massages for six weeks in older people with dementia decreased aggressiveness and reduced the levels of a stress marker in the blood. Another found that massages boosted the mood of breast cancer patients. One study even showed that healthy young adults who caressed a robotic baby seal were happier, and felt less pain from a mild heat stimulus, than those who read an article about an astronomer.
Positive effects were particularly noticeable in premature babies, who âmassively improveâ with skin-to-skin contact, said FrĂ©dĂ©ric Michon, a researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience and one of the studyâs authors.
âThere have been a lot of claims that touch is good, touch is healthy, touch is something that we all need,â said Rebecca Boehme, a neuroscientist at Linkoping University in Sweden, who reviewed the study for the journal. âBut actually, nobody had looked at it from this broad, birdâs eye perspective.â
The analysis revealed some interesting and sometimes mysterious patterns. Among adults, sick people showed greater mental health benefits from touch than healthy people did. Who was doing the touching â a familiar person or a health care worker â didnât matter. But the source of the touch did matter to newborns.
âOne very intriguing finding that needs further support is that newborn babies benefit more from their parentsâ touch than from a strangerâs touch,â said Ville Harjunen, a researcher at the University of Helsinki in Finland, who also reviewed the study for the journal. Babiesâ preference for their parents could be related to smell, he speculated, or to the differences in the way parents hold them.
Women seem to benefit more from touch than men, which may be a cultural effect, Dr. Michon said. The frequency of the touch also mattered: A massage once every two years isnât going to do much.
Several studies included in the review looked at what happened during the height of the Covid pandemic, when people were isolated and had less physical contact with others. âThey found correlations during Covid times between touch deprivation and health aspects like depression and anxiety,â Dr. Michon said.
Touching the head appears to have more of a beneficial effect than touching the torso, some studies found. Dr. Michon couldnât explain that finding, but thought it could have to do with the greater number of nerve endings on the face and scalp.
Another mystery: Studies of people in South America tended to show stronger health benefits of touch than did those studies that looked at people in North America or Europe. Dr. Michon said that culture may somehow play a role. But Dr. Boehme said the studies showing the differences between countries were too small to be definitive. âI think the mechanism behind this is biological,â she said. âI think thatâs hard-wired and will be the same for all of us.â
In 2023, Jeeva Sankar, a pediatrics researcher at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and a colleague published a rigorous review of skin-to-skin care for newborns. The analysis concluded that touch therapy for preterm or low-birth-weight infants should start as soon as possible and last eight hours or more, a recommendation that the World Health Organization adopted. Dr. Sankar said the new review was important because touch is often neglected in modern medical care, but it was too broad. He would have liked it to focus more on how various forms of touch could be integrated in medical care.
Dr. Michon stressed that the types of touch considered in these studies were positive experiences to which the volunteers agreed. âIf someone doesnât feel a touch as being pleasant, itâs likely going to stress them out,â he said.
A version of this article appears in print on April 9, 2024, Section A, Page 4 of the New York edition with the headline: Reviewing Studies, Scientists Find Hugs Are Good for You.Â

I am in love with your answers for the Non US ask game. Like Tumblr, fandom is also majorly US centric. Have Desi Harry fics and meta stereotypes got something right about your your country? Are there fics you like that get something about your country right?
oh anon, this is a can of worms! So I like desi Harry as an idea (and lot of the art!) - in fact, there are some parts of Prisoner of Azkaban dialogue that almost reads as if Harry is POC. I am referring to this bit:
A few years later, she had turned up at Christmas with a computerized robot for Dudley and a box of dog biscuits for Harry.
You mustnât blame yourself for the way the boyâs turned out, Vernon,â she said over lunch on the third day. âIf thereâs something rotten on the inside, thereâs nothing anyone can do about it.â
Harry tried to concentrate on his food, but his hands shook and his face was starting to burn with anger. Remember the form, he told himself. Think about Hogsmeade. Donât say anything. Donât rise â Aunt Marge reached for her glass of wine.
âItâs one of the basic rules of breeding,â she said. âYou see it all the time with dogs. If thereâs something wrong with the bitch, thereâll be something wrong with the pup â â
of course, the untidiness of Harry's hair etc also feels charged in that context.
It was common to see colonial establishments say, "no dogs, no Indians" in colonial India. So I remember feeling this while reading POA and opening chapters of OOTP - otherwise Harry is of course written as default white protagonist.
However, I haven't found a desi Harry fic I liked? I am open to be recced those of course - it is just a matter of finding the right fic for myself. I just find lot of fics in the Never Have I Ever (I don't like that show) vein of Indian identity in a foreign land and I simply want to ask question and push back on that way of interpreting Harry's family:
For example, Christianity is a minority religion in India: but why can't Harry be from a Christian family? As opposed to having to explain away the anglicised names (which you can do great things with as a story). You can still have Harry celebrating Diwali (if that is what you want from a story and that is seemingly what everyone wants from a desi Harry story) even if he is Christian! Because we all celebrate the big festivals!
I have some issues with caste blindness, which is a vibe I do get with hcs that I am not going to expound here. @sleepstxtic has helped me parse through some of the feelings about that. (in that vein, I like her work and would rec this specifically: Will you send me to Hogwarts?)
This is just me, of course. I have very strong feelings that there is only one kind of Indian identity (there isn't, but prevalence of only kind of Indian identity in desi Harry hcs/theories/metas makes it look there is only one way to be Indian). My realy problem is that I find lot of stories don't engage with how I personally engage with my own Indian identity as a lower caste, South Indian woman. Also, I have traveled within India a LOT. I just want more ways to see interpret Harry as desi because there is a lot of ways to be desi?
I have, however, found stories on Parvati and Padma that I have liked - @broomsticks has recced many of them on @harrypocter server. (nirmal was amazing and it really captured mumbai very well)

incoming rant: the robotification of women
teri baaton mein aisa uljha jiya (2024) is among the latest movies in the genre of science fiction romance. it reminded me of an old itv show bahu hamari rajnikant (2016) , while i wasn't an avid watcher of the latter, i knew of it's existence. why did it remind of that particular sitcom? well, mainly because of the comedy. but it also reminded me of similar themes in english movies like ex machina (2015), wifelike (2022), archive (2020) and her (2013), which is surely a bit far fetched considering that in her, the ai never had a body. only a voice.
here, i think it's impertinent to also acknowledge male robots in indian cinema, like chitti from robot/enthiran (2010) and g.one from ra.one (2011) even though he wasn't an actual robot? i don't know if he classifies as one. so let's say, non-human, programming-based male entity (nhpbme). similar to samantha in her, a non-human, programming-based female entity (nhpbfe).
so yes, while male robots and nhpbme do exist in the sci-fi romance genre, it's the comparatively larger robotification of women that feeds the male gaze, and the patriarchy by an extentionâ which is ultimately problematic.
coming to the movie that i actually want to discuss, kriti sanon's sifra, in tbmauj, is the perfect lover, perfect bahu. why? she knows everything aaru (shahid kapoor) likes and wants. she has no chik-chik or tantrums like other girls. she can make cuisines from all around the world, can access everything on the internet quickly. she has perfect skin, perfect hair. probably doesn't age too. she is the dream girl of a typical man. she doesn't have her own opinions or problems, she serves him and him alone. no family of hers to care about, she can care about his family and their needs. the female gendering here acts like objectification.
the worst part of this movie was that it didn't do anything? since it was a comedy, it didn't delve deeper into the nuances of increasing technological reliance that humans have. i think it was probably meant as a warningâ when sifra malfunctions and starts executing tasks that were deleted. but even at that, it fails because urmila's (dimple kapadia) company (so intelligently named) e-robots/robotex (something stupid like that), ends up launching her along with few other robots. only adds a dialogue which meant that you need to handle these robots responsibly. then, what was the point of all the testing they tried to do? placing her in different environments like india, when they don't really end up rethinking the whole idea or putting in more safety features? of course, there's no deeper meaning here. indian comedies don't really have subtext.
but it's perpetuates the same old concept of subservient women. rule-followers and caregivers. an image etched in stone. why do women askâ what do men want? men want this, an ideal version. have always wanted. fuelled by the unrealistic p*rn depictions. do they ever think what women want? aaru so casually tells off his friend who has a wife to look at how pathetic his own life is. he defends sifra's un-emotional response to a situation by attacking his friend's relationship asking if human women are any better?
it reminded me of wifelike (2022) where female robots are curated according to a person's need, a replication of their dead spouse. to love them, to serve them, to help them come out of grief. it's so funny to me how in tbmauj, sifra is shown to retain her feelings, getting jealous when aaru interacts with another woman despite getting reprogrammed; compared to how in wifelike, the robotic version of the human it was based on, always ended up leaving the husband because the human version never loved him.
isn't it interesting how female robots instantly get sexualised, and are depicted doing things that one would never ask their girlfriend or wife to do? these robots happily perform roles that are stereotypically feminine, wife-like. they're invented to put aside their feelings (if they have them) to take care of their human partners'. sifra cooks perfect food, emphasized by how many time aaru fired his maid for not cooking things the way he likes it. she probably doesn't have mood swings from periods because she's a robot. she doesn't eat, doesn't get out of shape. and most importantly, she doesn't age (cue: i'll get old but your lovers stay my age). as if the expectations from women aren't enough, that they're required to age gracefully, or best optionâ not age at all.
if you still don't get it, let me remind you how siri and alexa also end up on the same side of gender spectrumâ female.
so the message is, guys, don't give up on your dream girl! you'll surely find a robot that satisfies all your needs! đ
men want perfect women, but women can't be robots. let's stop perpetuating the same image and setting unrealistic standards. real humans have real problems, deal with them.

WIP Questionnaire Tag!
Thanks for the tag @nczaversnick!
This is for Verum II: The Robotic Era
What's the first part of your WIP that you created?
Since TRE is the second book of a series, the characters and rough world building had already been created before I started. I think I began with writing all my ideas down for the story line.
If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
It would definitely be a metal song. Maybe orchestral death metal mixed in with some cyber elements.
What are your favorite characters you've made? Why?
I think it's Dethra. He's very hot, funny and badass. At least to me. I just love big scary killer machines that could crush me in an instant, lol.
What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
Uhhhh⊠idk?
How do characters travel/get around?
Planes and cars. And of course theyâll also walk if their destination isn't too far.
What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
Currently I'm writing a part that is on the easier to digest and on the funnier side, since the last two were rather heavy. It's Luce, Dethra and Bluctro traveling to India.Â
What aspects/tropes do you think will draw your audience in?
There's polyamory, fuckable robots and a fuckable alien⊠I think this is the first time that I say this, lol. It's also a little Dead Dove: Do Not Eat-y.
What are your hopes for your WIP?
I hope that I will gain some readers, since my first book isn't doing well (justified, it's bad as hell, lol). Having a fan base that loves my work, talks about the characters and eventually even makes fan art and fanfiction of it would be my absolute dream. But I doubt I'll get to that point any time soon.
Open tag!

Top B.Tech Courses in Maharashtra â CSE, AI, IT, and ECE Compared
B.Tech courses continue to attract students across India, and Maharashtra remains one of the most preferred states for higher technical education. From metro cities to emerging academic hubs like Solapur, students get access to diverse courses and skilled faculty. Among all available options, four major branches stand out: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Information Technology (IT), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE).
Each of these streams offers a different learning path. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering focuses on coding, algorithms, and system design. Students learn Python, Java, data structures, software engineering, and database systems. These skills are relevant for software companies, startups, and IT consulting.
B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence covers deep learning, neural networks, data processing, and computer vision. Students work on real-world problems using AI models. They also learn about ethical AI practices and automation systems. Companies hiring AI talent are in healthcare, retail, fintech, and manufacturing.
B.Tech in IT trains students in systems administration, networking, cloud computing, and application services. Graduates often work in system support, IT infrastructure, and data management. IT blends technical and management skills for enterprise use.
B.Tech ECE is for students who enjoy working with circuits, embedded systems, mobile communication, robotics, and signal processing. This stream is useful for telecom companies, consumer electronics, and control systems in industries.
Key Differences Between These B.Tech Programs:
CSE is programming-intensive. IT includes applications and system-level operations.
AI goes deeper into data modeling and pattern recognition.
ECE focuses more on hardware, communication, and embedded tech.
AI and CSE overlap, but AI involves more research-based learning.
How to Choose the Right B.Tech Specialization:
Ask yourself what excites you: coding, logic, data, devices, or systems.
Look for colleges with labs, project-based learning, and internship support.
Talk to seniors or alumni to understand real-life learning and placements.
Explore industry demand and long-term growth in each field.
MIT Vishwaprayag University, Solapur, offers all four B.Tech programs with updated syllabi, modern infrastructure, and practical training. Students work on live projects, participate in competitions, and build career skills through soft skills training. The university also encourages innovation and startup thinking.
Choosing the right course depends on interest and learning style. CSE and AI suit tech lovers who like coding and research. ECE is great for those who enjoy building real-world devices. IT fits students who want to blend business with technology.
Take time to explore the subjects and talk to faculty before selecting a stream. Your B.Tech journey shapes your future, so make an informed choice.

Fic: First Day
Donna Noble embarks on her first day at UNIT, 10 weeks after we left her at the end of The Giggle.
Donna had opted to use the tube for her first day. Did UNIT Tower have an underground carpark? She made a mental note to ask someone. If she was going to be saving the planet every week, she felt she deserved a commute that didnât involve standing with her face in someoneâs armpit.
Maybe she could have her own personal driver- no, that would be pushing it. She could still barely believe sheâd talked her way into a ÂŁ120k a year job when this time last year she was doing admin on a fixed term contract for a recruitment company which made them all fork out for their own Christmas party. Now she was a permanent employee of an international organisation defending the Earth!
She had taken a while to agree on a start date - first of all her house had been demolished in an alien skirmish, so she felt like she needed to be settled in her new home before embracing her new role as Consultant Advisor under Kate Stewart. She did feel slightly nervous about the responsibility awaiting her, but she had done so much already that surely the only difference was now she was being financially compensated for her efforts. She had been sent a welcome pack in the post, containing her contract for signing and the company handbook that had some old country house emblazoned on the cover. Very National Trust, apart from the almost comical wooden sign reading âMinistry of Defence. U.N.I.T. Headquarters. KEEP OUT.â. Clearly they needed to update their marketing materials, now they sit at the top of a swish skyscraper in central London, complete with a helipad, and according to Shirley, the best coffee machine this side of the Milky Way.
The house had been quiet as she left that morning. Shaun was dead to the world after a late night taxi shift, and Sylvia had taken Wilf to visit Minnie. The Doctor, having made himself a resident of her back garden, had recently begun reaching out to old friends, now that he had an address to visit. She was charmed to meet Ace, bemused by the robot dog trundling alongside her, and Tegan made her hoot with laughter when she gave the Doctor a dressing down for saying she used to complain a lot. Jo Jones had embraced her so enthusiastically that she knocked her motherâs favourite vase off a table (thank God, it looked hideous), and sheâd been overjoyed to host a raucous wine night when Martha finally found out about her getting her memories back and rushed round with a bag of clinking bottles to make up for lost time.
This morning there was a square patch on the grass which the TARDIS had vacated the previous day, as the Doctor had decided to pay a visit to an elderly couple named Ben and Polly in India, and a time space machine is less hassle than Heathrow. Rose had begged to go too but Donna had reminded her that she had mocks soon, and last time sheâd gone on a daytrip with the Doctor sheâd missed a week of school as theyâd ended up in Ancient Athens, returning with their tails between their legs. As consolation, she let Rose stay overnight with another girl from school to revise for their exams. She was doing her A Levels but was disengaged outside of Art and Design. Maybe UNIT had a work experience program? Not out in the field of course, she didnât want to encourage that; maybe they needed a new logo designing, or a rethink on their uniforms. She could see Rose sketching out a new look for the troops, the current all black look didnât compare to the chic red berets she remembered from the ATMOS factory. Although knowing Roseâs taste theyâd end up all furry with googly eyes on their helmets and pipe cleaners and pom poms on their chests. Maybe not, then.
Walking through the automatic shining glass doors stamped with the organisationâs insignia, Donnaâs stomach threatened to do backflips. She refused to let misplaced imposter syndrome spoil this for her. Sheâd saved the universe, every universe, for crying out loud. If she could survive being locked in with rabid Ood, sneak through a Sontaran battleship undetected, deduct that a generations-long war had only lasted a week, and outthink the Not-things, she was ready for whatever life working for UNIT could throw at her.
âHello, darling!â, a voice sang out, and Donna looked across the reception area and saw a familiar mane of red hair. âI came down to meet you!â beamed Mel.Â
âYouâve not come to let me down gently then?â Donna laughed, still slightly nervous, but the butterflies inside her calming in the presence of her friend.
âDonât be ridiculous, come on, let's get you set up upstairs.â, Mel said, whisking her briskly to the lifts, waving to the receptionist to let them through the security barriers. âThereâs so much to do! We need to get your photo ID pass sorted, your hair looks gorgeous by the way, and - oh youâve arrived just in time, our Shadow Proclamation liaison is off sick and weâve had communication last night from the Judoon that they need jurisdiction to arrest a minor royal for trafficking Graskes - complete crisis. Kateâs on it but needs support arranging rendition.â
âJudoon? Space Rhinos, yoyo velcro tesco fomo; weâre already acquainted.â Donna replied as the doors slid open with a soft âdingâ. âLet me at âemâ.

NASA JPL prepping for full year of launches, mission milestones
With 2024 receding into the distance, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory is already deep into a busy 2025. Early in the new year, the Eaton Fire came close to JPL, destroying the homes of more than 200 employees, but work has continued apace to maintain mission operations and keep upcoming missions on track.
Several missions managed by NASA JPL are prepping for launch this year. Most have been years in the making and launches are, of course, only part of the bigger picture. Other milestones are also on the docket for the federal laboratory, which Caltech manages for NASA.
Here's a glimpse of what lies ahead this year.
Mysterious universe
Shaped like the bell of a trumpet and as big as a subcompact car, NASA's SPHEREx space observatory is aiming for the stars. Known formally as the Spectro-Photometer for the History of the universe, Epoch of Reionization and Ices Explorer, the mission will create four 3D maps of the entire sky in order to improve humanity's understanding of the universeâhow it expanded after the Big Bang, where ingredients of life can be found in ice grains, and much more. Target launch date: no earlier than Feb. 27 from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
The moon's icy secrets
NASA's Lunar Trailblazer aims to help resolve an enduring mystery: Where is the moon's water? Scientists have seen signs suggesting it exists even where temperatures soar on the lunar surface, and there's good reason to believe it can be found as surface ice in permanently shadowed craters, places that have not seen direct sunlight for billions of years.
Managed by NASA JPL and led by Caltech, the small satellite will help provide answers, mapping the moon's surface water in unprecedented detail to determine the water's abundance, location, form, and how it changes over time. The small satellite will hitch a ride, slated for late February, on the same launch as the Intuitive Machines-2 delivery to the moon through NASA's CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) initiative.
Earth's changing surface
A collaboration between the United States and India, NISAR is a major addition to the fleet of satellites studying our changing planet. Short for NASA-Indian Space Research Organisation Synthetic Aperture Radar, the mission's name is a nesting doll of acronyms, and the spacecraft is a nesting doll of capabilities: The first spacecraft to carry both L-band and S-band radars, it will see surface changes related to volcanoes, earthquakes, ice sheet motion, deforestation, and more in unprecedented detail after it launches in a few months' time.
Sea level
Targeting a November launch, Sentinel-6B will provide global sea surface height measurementsâsome of the most accurate data of its kind yetâthat will improve climate models and hurricane tracking, as well as our understanding of phenomena like El Niño. A collaboration between NASA and ESA (European Space Agency), the spacecraft will take the baton from its twin, Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich, which launched in 2020. Together, the satellites are extending for another 10 years a nearly three-decade record of global sea surface height.Moon rover trioAs a technology demonstration, the CADRE (Cooperative Autonomous Distributed Robotic Exploration) project marks another step NASA is taking toward developing robots thatâby operating autonomouslyâcan boost the efficiency of future missions. The project team at JPL will soon be packing up and shipping CADRE's three suitcase-size rovers to Texas in preparation for their journey to the moon aboard a commercial lander through one of NASA's future CLPS deliveries. The rovers are designed to work together as a team without direct input from mission controllers back on Earth. By taking simultaneous measurements from multiple locations, they are meant to show how multirobot missions could enable new science and support astronauts.
Quantum technology
Having arrived at the International Space Station in November, SEAQUE (Space Entanglement and Annealing QUantum Experiment) is testing two technologies thatâif successfulâcould enable communication using entangled photons between two quantum systems. The research from this experiment, which gets underway in 2025, could help develop the building blocks for a future global quantum network that would allow equipment such as quantum computers to transfer data securely across large distances.
Gravity assist to reach Jupiter
Launched this past October, Europa Clipper will arrive at Jupiter in 2030 to investigate whether an ocean beneath the ice shell of the gas giant's moon Europa has conditions suitable for life. The spacecraft will travel 1.8 billion miles (2.9 billion kilometers) to reach its destination. Since there are limitations on how much fuel the spacecraft can carry, mission planners are having Europa Clipper fly by Mars on March 1, using the planet's gravity as a slingshot to add speed to its journey.
IMAGE: NASA JPL is readying for, clockwise from lower right, the launches of CADRE (its engineering models are seen here), Lunar Trailblazer, NISAR (seen in an artistâs concept), Sentinel-6B (artistâs concept), and SPHEREx, as well as the Mars gravity assist of Europa Clipper (artistâs concept).
