now that i’m learning about riko sheridan, i’m even more glad about the fact that cassandra cain has plain black hair. the fact that dc has, just to my limited knowledge, put at least three separate asian characters into the “edgy asian girl with colored hair” trope, especially with at least two of the three (not sure about riko yet) being seen as “bad” for a portion of their stories

I'm forever plagued by how Shawn Tsang was willing to give everything she was to be Dick's partner in vigilante-ism. Like she came back to tell him she'd be by his side and he'd already moved on and she STILL came back to save the city. She loved him to the point of change and she stayed changed by her love for him even if she acknowledged that they could never be together again.

And then Tim Seeley threw it all away! He threw it all away because he decided that Shawn would be more angry than concerned about the idea of being ghosted even though she could check in with Dick and track him down. Even though she KNEW he was Nightwing and that he wouldn't give it up. That was the main conflict of their relationship! That he wouldn't give up Nightwing, that he wouldn't find balance!

Also not a fan of how DC seems to have forgotten she ever existed.

I know this isn't a popular opinion and most people consider Barbara and Dick more healthy and ideal...and I guess I kinda get it? I mean watching Young Justice, Barb and Dick seem like best friends turned boyfriend and girlfriend and that's sweet

But as someone who grew up with Teen Titans animated show and who watched the 2003 Batman animated show, I've always seen Barb and Dick more like brothers and sisters with the way they act and knowing each other so young and saw Starfire more as a romantic relationship.

But both are good I think...I'm so conflicted haha

I also love Dick with Shawn too.

Wow, Dick really does have the most interesting romances.

this is actually making me curious if dick actually likes anyone, or if he’s just this go-with-the-flow people pleaser he seems to be.

like. he and shawn had a good thing, he thought they may start a family together (if on accident). and yeah they had their fights, but they’ve fought before. but one word from helena and he’s immediately moving on to something new.

When Elainna was younger, her father used to tell her about her mother.

Shawn Tsang, the woman who looked Nightwing in the face and left. Shawn Tsang, the woman who Dick Grayson had come back to in the wake of his injuries.

Shawn Tsang, the woman who had died in a simple but violent crime. The likes of which Batwoman could have prevented. Could have saved her from.

Elainna likes to think her mother would be proud of her, now, even though Nightwing hurt her and Elainna's father more than anything else ever could.

Because Batwoman is... she is something. She is not quite the kindness that her father tells her of. She is not a tribute to Shawn Tsang the Defacer or Shawn Tsang the helper. She is something almost all Elainna's own.

And, maybe, she is something Shawn Tsang could have loved.
