Nublar Six's study habits
in honour of me hitting the halfway mark through my exams, here's how i think the nublar six would study and the grades they get!!
Darius:
extremely studious
studies in Kenji’s/Brand’s room. cannot focus without being in the proximity of another person
works almost to the point of burnout before Brand/his mother/one of the N6 drag him to a theme park or aquarium to unwind
tutors Kenji on science subjects despite being two grades younger than him (Darius is three grades ahead science wise)
hosts virtual study sessions with the others
makes very detailed flashcards (digitally because his handwriting is terrible)
gets mostly A–A* but probably a B or C student in sports
best subjects are the sciences, particularly biology, and maths. he is so good at stem subjects. nerd [affectionate]
Brooklynn:
never actually learned how to study in all her years of homeschool
studies at her kitchen table (her bedroom is her sleep space)
the others teach her how (except Kenji cos he has no clue how to study either)
learns extremely quickly and gets mostly As with a few Bs and A*s
one of those annoying people who are good at everything (Yaz hates it)
her best subjects are the humanities–type stuff (geography, history, religious studies, economics, life skills etc) and english
Yaz:
pretty studious; probably has the most consistent studying habits out of everyone
very used to studying in unusual places because of fitting studying in between all her track events (she’s studied in locker rooms more than libraries)
has weirdly small writing
usually studies by doing practise questions
has one (1) google drive folder where she keeps all her revision material
can Not be listening to music while she studies
mostly As, A* in sports (obvs), and a few Bs
overall good at everything except english. it’s her worst enemy. analysing literature texts makes her want to flip her desk.
Sammy:
decent at studying but only because she does everything she can to make it more fun
her notes are the prettiest notes you’ve ever seen
ratio of actual notes:random doodles about 50:50
writes in gel pen with big, loopy handwriting
highlighter all over her notes
listens to music or life beats while she studies
carries around every book under the sun, “just in case i need it!!” even if it makes her backpack weigh about 20 kilos (45 pounds)
usually gets Bs and a few As
best subjects are english (she helps tutor Yaz ofc) and other languages. she’s fluent in Spanish, she might as well take it for the easy A
Kenji:
hates studying. would honestly jump down the stairs to get out of an exam. has done so once or twice
also has to have someone else near him or he won’t focus
very reluctantly has to ask one of the Bowmans to sit with him while he studies (they are all more than happy to oblige)
usually studies in the kitchen while mama Bowman is making dinner or doing her own work or smth
mama Bowman was a pretty good student and i hc she has a healthcare job of some description so she could help Kenji with the sciences
used to be a C/D student but since living with the Bowmans he becomes a B/C student
Ben:
hates studying. hates school. writes detailed rants on why the school system is fundamentally broken instead of actually studying.
doodles Bumpy in the middle of class in his notebook and thinks about running around the jungle
has to be forced into studying by the others. Darius has to bully him over video call
if he has to study it’s outside. being indoors suffocates him
gets As in biology, bare minimum grades needed to study paleontology and otherwise does Not Care
best subject is biology. everything else he hates with a passion.

Part 2 of Chapter 1
Messy like a Pollock Painting
TigerGhost Enemies to Lovers
Rated T
Danny was actually proud of himself as he grabbed his bag from his locker.
For once, he’d finished all his homework.
No ghost attacks. No distractions. No falling asleep mid-assignment.
A fully completed homework packet. Hopefully full marks.
Then, as he dug through his bag—His homework folder was gone. "You have got to be fucking kidding me!" Danny barked, distressed.
Did he really do all that work just to leave it at home?!
He could’ve sworn he grabbed it.
"Looking for this, güero?"
Danny looked up—And felt his soul leave his body.
Manny Rivera was standing a few feet away, grinning like a devil, holding his homework folder.
Danny took a slow, deep breath through his nose. "I swear to whatever god you believe in, I will kill you if you don’t give that back."
Manny just chuckled. "That sounds like a challenge, amigo." He waved the folder for emphasis.
Danny saw red. "What are you, five?!"
"It’s my childlike wonder!" Manny snickered.
Danny lunged.
Manny was fast—dodging like it was nothing. Two steps to the side, like it was the easiest thing in the world.
Danny actually buffered. His brain stalled. His eyes may have flashed green. "Give me my fucking homework back."
"Nope!" And then Manny bolted.
Danny blinked. There is no way this little fucking brat is going to make me chase him.
Danny took a step forward—
Manny took a sharp turn—And immediately slammed face-first into the wall.
Manny hit the wall at full force.
He staggered back, blinking. Like he couldn’t believe the wall had the audacity to exist.
"¿Qué carajo?" he muttered, touching his face.
Danny just stared. "…What?”
Manny’s nose was bleeding. He looked dazed.
Danny took advantage of the moment and snatched his homework folder back.
Manny blinked at his empty hands.
Danny squinted, "Hey, there’s a wall there."
Manny shook himself out, still visibly dizzy. "I absolutely knew that!" he declared, planting his hands on his hips completely ignoring the blood dripping from his nose.
Danny just stared. He'd never met anyone this stupid in his entire life. "That was as well-planned as invading Russia in the winter."
Manny squinted. "Did you just compare me to Hitler?"
"Yes." Danny flipped through his folder, making sure nothing was missing. "Now leave me the fuck alone or I’ll be the reason your nose is bleeding next time."
Then he turned on his heel and walked away.
More than ready to turn in his assignment and get his first A of the year.
~
Manny stood there, watching Danny walk away—His mouth tasted like copper.
Danny had a swagger as he left. His homework folder clutched way too tight in his hands.
Manny, on the other hand, was stunned.
"That was kinda hot." He wiped his nose, grinning. "Maybe if I keep fucking with him, he’ll actually fight me."
He was absolutely getting under Danny’s skin.
Danny was thinking about him. A lot.
Manny could tell.
Now, if only he hadn’t misjudged that turn.
He wiped his face again.
The back of his hand came away red.
Well. That sucked.
He sighed and started toward the bathroom to clean up. It would be healed in a couple of minutes anyway.
Manny made it to class a few minutes late.
But his casual smirk and the bloody paper towel shoved up his nose made it pretty obvious why.
The teacher just sighed, shook her head, and kept teaching.
Manny frowned, struggling to keep up.
He scribbled notes in Spanish, trying to translate in real time.
His English was solid, but learning math, his mortal enemy, in his second language?
That also sucked.
By the time the bell rang, he was more than ready to leave.
He barely took the time to shove his notebook into his bag before bolting.
Anything to put physical distance between himself and math.
He ended up near the A-listers.
Dash, Kwan, Paulina, Star—The kids he’d been automatically sorted with.
Like some kind of clique sorting hat.
Manny was rich. He was attractive. He was an athlete.
There wasn’t anywhere else he was supposed to go. It was like a stupid American high school movie.
Except way less fun. And with no singing.
Paulina and Star looked and acted like they were straight out of Mean Girls.
Paulina, specifically, had the energy of someone who thought she could predict the weather with her boobs.
The guys weren’t much better.
"Did you see the Vikings and Steelers game last night?" Kwan punched Dash’s arm, excited.
"Hell yeah, I did!" Dash grinned.
"Did you see that 65-yard field goal attempt the Vikings made?"
"Yeah! That was insane, dude!"
Then Kwan turned to Manny. "Did you see the game?"
Manny frowned. "No? I don’t watch American football. What the hell is a field goal in football? Aren’t all goals on the field?"
Dash and Kwan exchanged a look.
Then they laughed.
Dash clapped him on the back. "We need to fix that! You gotta like football now that you live here!"
Manny forced out a laugh. "I mean? I do watch football. It’s called soccer, Dash."
"Soccer is such a gay sport," Dash snickered. "You should at least give hockey a chance."
Manny snorted. "Dash, I’m from a desert with an active volcano. We’ve literally never heard of ice."
That got a laugh.
"It’s basically soccer but way manlier and cooler," Kwan added.
"You should play something besides soccer while you’re at Casper. You’d make one hell of a football player!"
Manny laughed along with them.
Masking.
Telling them what they wanted to hear.
He had never felt so fake in his life.
He missed Frida.
He missed Miracle City.
This place was boring.
And, honestly?
He was not having a good time.
Manny floated through the rest of his morning, just trying to keep afloat.
At least he had art class after lunch.
That was the one thing that was better here than in Miracle City.
The art program was insane. Well-funded. Amazing teachers.
And his art teacher? She got it.
When Manny had sheepishly admitted he wanted to be an artist. That he wanted to own a gallery, to teach public art classes.
She hadn’t laughed. She had grinned. She had told him she was already living that dream.
And then? She took him under her wing. No matter what, he always had art.
Then, as he walked into the cafeteria—
His eyes locked onto Danny, Sam, and Tucker. The people he actually wanted to hang out with.
Sam? She reminded him of Frida. Dark. Loud. Rockstar energy. Fiery enough to keep people in check.
Tucker? Funny. Smart. Reminded Manny of Django—now that they actually got along.
And Danny?
Danny was fascinating. There was something otherworldly about him. Everyone seemed to keep their distance.
And Manny wanted to know why.
And so far? The only way to get Danny’s attention was to antagonize him. Which is exactly what he was about to do.
"¡Aye!" Manny plopped down in the open seat next to Danny like he belonged there. "Please tell me we can talk about something besides American football."
Danny leaned forward, his expression dark—His eyes flashed green. "I don’t want to talk to you about anything."
Three sets of narrowed eyes turned toward him.
Manny grinned, sharp teeth flashing. "Yet here you are. Talking."
Danny sucked in a breath, searching for words.
Bingo. A reaction.
"Didn’t I threaten to break your nose the next time you bothered me?" Danny gritted out.
Manny’s eyes sparkled with challenge. "Please do. I doubt you could."
Danny didn’t even hesitate.
He shoved Manny off the bench.
Manny hit the ground, hard.
He blinked up at Danny, dazed—Then grinned. "Impressive. For a skinny gringo."
There was a collective gasp.
Manny stood, dusting himself off.
He opened his mouth to fire back.
And Danny clocked him.
Right in the face.
Manny’s vision flashed white.
He staggered—for half a second. Then he snapped back, grinning.
That? That was nothing. He’d taken way worse from Miracle City villains on a Tuesday morning.
Manny licked the blood off his lip. His eyes lit up. "¡Diablos sí! That’s what I’m talking about!"
And then?
They were full-on brawling in the school courtyard.
Manny hadn’t expected Danny to know how to fight.
But he sure as shit did.
At first? Manny was playing.
Testing. Prodding. Teasing.
Then Danny grabbed his hair—And kicked him in the stomach like he’d done it a hundred times before.
Manny’s grin snapped into something sharper.
Oh. So that’s how it’s gonna be.
Manny dropped low, sweeping his leg out—Taking Danny’s legs with it.
Danny fell—but almost too slow.
Like his body knew how to break the fall before it even happened.
Then, suddenly—they were on the ground.
Rolling. Scrambling. Fighting like two street cats over the last sardine.
Fast. Vicious. Chaotic.
It lasted a few violent, messy moments—
Before they were ripped apart.
Ms. Tetslaff had Manny under his arms, lifting him like a pissed-off parent.
Mr. Lancer had Danny by the hoodie, gripping him like he was trying to stop him from committing a felony.
Manny was huffing, grinning—Like a feral cat that just won a fight.
His teeth were red with blood.
He looked wild. And he loved it.
And Danny?
Danny looked just as wrecked.
His mullet stuck out in every direction.
His nose was bleeding.
His knuckles were scraped raw.
And both of them were covered in dirt and grass.
The courtyard was silent. Until—"Great Gatsby! What is wrong with you two?!"
~
Danny yanked himself out of Mr. Lancer’s grip. "He fucking started it!"
Manny’s eyes widened in offended disbelief. "I did NOT!" he bit out—lying through his teeth. "He shoved me off the bench!"
Danny’s whole body bristled. "You son of a—"
"ENOUGH!" Mr. Lancer’s voice boomed through the courtyard. "We’re going to my office. NOW.”
Danny couldn’t believe himself.
He’d never let himself be goaded into a fight before.
And he’d been shoved into lockers more times than he could count.
Now?
Now he was bleeding from the nose and knuckles, being paraded through the halls by Mr. Lancer—
Like some kind of feral animal.
And Manny?
Manny looked like he was having the time of his life.
His eyes were wild. Ms. Tetslaff was guiding him like an unruly street dog.
And the worst part?
Manny had actually given Danny a run for his money. That fight had been a hell of a lot harder than it should’ve been.
Danny had even—just for a second—Used a little of Phantom’s powers.
What the fuck was wrong with him?
Before he could think too hard about it, They were in the vice principal’s office. Mr. Lancer shoved them into two chairs. One at each end of his desk.
"Now. No more problems?"
"Yes, sir." Danny muttered.
"Sí, señor." Manny grinned.
"Good." Mr. Lancer sank into his chair, rubbing his temples. Then he let out a deep sigh.
"Now," he muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Tell me—what in The Odyssey was that?"
Neither of them spoke.
Mr. Lancer rubbed his eyes with a long, exhausted sigh.
Finally, he lazily gestured toward Danny. "Danny, you go first."
Danny let out a breath through his teeth. "Manny has been bothering me nonstop for days!"
"He’s thrown my lunch, spilled my coffee, ruined my science textbook, stolen my homework—AND he won’t leave me alone!" It all came out in one frustrated wave.
Mr. Lancer raised an eyebrow and turned to Manny. "Is that true?"
Manny blinked. Then shrugged—"¿No hablas inglés?"
Mr. Lancer’s face twisted.
Like he had just transcended to a new level of exhaustion. "What? No! Who do you think I am, ICE?"
Danny actually had to bite back a laugh.
What the actual fuck.
Manny immediately doubled down. "Bueno, Danny no quiere ser mi amigo—y eso, señor, es un delito. Estoy actuando así porque soy un problema por naturaleza."
Mr. Lancer turned to Danny. Like he somehow expected a translation.
Danny, in true Fenton fashion, just shrugged. "I think that explains why I punched him."
Manny burst into laughter. Loud. Full-bodied. Unhinged. "No, I totally deserved it!"
Mr. Lancer sighed so hard it could have broken the sound barrier. "That’s it. I’m calling your father, Manuel."
The change was instant. Manny shot up, hands on the desk. "¡Aye! Don’t do that! My papá will drive up here from Mexico and kill me. Dead! Just give me detention! Or—I don’t know—make me clean toilets! I’d literally rather clean toilets than have you call my papá!"
Danny blinked. Processing.
Huh.
"You should have thought about that before you terrorized another student," Mr. Lancer said, searching Manny’s face.
"But he hit me first!" Manny whined.
"Uh? Yeah, but you knocked my stuff around," Danny chirped unhelpfully.
Manny whipped around to glare at him. "The lunch tray was because you were being a bully for no reason!"
Then he jabbed a finger at his scarred eye.
"The book and coffee were an accident! Like I told you at the time! I went to give you a pat on the back and missed! I’m literally half-blind. I have negative depth perception."
Danny paused. Then blinked. "Oh." Beat. "So that’s why you ran into the wall.”
"No, I did because I thought it would look cool to nearly break my nose," Manny bit back.
Danny drew in a deep breath through his nose.
Ready to fire back.
Then Mr. Lancer sliced a hand through the air. "Enough."
They both shut up.
"It's very clear that neither of you are innocent. I’m giving you two days of in-school suspension."
"Danny, you'll be eating in my office for a week."
"Manny, you'll be spending your week with me—during your art class."
Manny bristled, eyes going wide. "Wait—really? Taking away my art class?
"Yes. It's a punishment, Rivera."
Manny flopped back in his chair, pouting like a kid. "I didn’t even want to come to this stupid school."
It sounded immature. But Danny flinched anyway.
Because for the first time—Manny didn’t sound like he was messing around.
He sounded done. He sounded genuinely miserable.
Then again. That’s what he gets for being a troublemaking jerk.
"Well, your actions have consequences, Manuel. Both the ones that got you to Casper High—and into my office today." Mr. Lancer’s voice was firm. Disappointed.
Manny didn’t react. He just stared at his hands.
Mr. Lancer let the words linger.
Then he sighed, turning to Danny. "I'm still going to have to call Maddie as well."
Danny sighed and leaned back, looking at the ceiling before flashing a half-hearted grin. "Hey, at least it’s not about my grades or me skipping class this time."
Mr. Lancer rubbed his eyes again. "No. It's about you punching an underclassman in the face. A definite improvement, Mr. Fenton."
Then he turned back to Manny. "Per the agreement of you attending Casper High—I will have to contact your father about this disciplinary issue, unfortunately."
Manny didn’t say a word. He looked like he had completely checked out.
Danny blinked. The whole room felt… off.
Mr. Lancer grabbed the phone, calling the detention teacher.
And then?
They were herded like punished puppies.
Straight to detention.
Banished. For two days.
Danny couldn’t believe he was in detention.
Again. It had been a while, but still.
He was a chronic C-student. A class-skipper.
This wasn’t new to him, but that didn’t mean he had to like it.
At least Manny was on the other side of the room.
Danny appreciated that.
Manny melted into his chair, folded his arms and rested his head on the desk.
Danny blinked.
Manny looked… genuinely upset.
The wild, laughing gremlin he’d fought earlier?
Gone. Just a skulking, silent kid in his place.
Danny wondered why Manny had shut down so hard after hearing his dad was getting called.
Then he rolled his eyes. "Actions have consequences," huh? Yeah. Guess so.
Danny dropped his head onto the desk. Decided he was done thinking about this.
Fuck this day.
Danny didn’t exactly mind being in detention.
It gave him time to nap and catch up on schoolwork, which was rare enough these days.
Manny, on the other hand, did not move the entire time.
Danny wasn’t sure if he was sleeping, sulking, or just waiting to be released like an animal in a trap. But at the end of the day, when they were finally let out, Manny did make sure to flip him off before they parted ways.
Danny just rolled his eyes and started walking home.
He should have expected it.
The moment he stepped inside, his parents were already waiting for him.
"Daniel James Fenton!" His mom’s voice rang through the house. "Mr. Lancer called and told us you’re in detention for fighting!”
Danny barely paused, already irritated. "I didn’t exactly start it."
Jack crossed his arms. "He said you swung first."
"He wouldn’t leave me alone!" Danny shot back. "I’m not in the wrong. He’s just some annoying bully, and I didn’t want to deal with him."
Maddie opened her mouth to argue. Jack looked ready to add something too.
Danny didn’t wait. He bolted up the stairs, slammed the door shut, and threw himself onto his bed.
Danny pressed his hands against his face, groaning into them.
His parents sucked at this kind of thing.
They meant well, sure. But they didn’t get it.
They never had.
And yeah, he swung first.
But Manny deserved it.
Right?
…Right?
Danny sighed and rolled onto his side, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Manny flipping him off before they left detention meant he was still pissed.
That was fine. Danny could live with that.
He didn’t need some obnoxious exchange student making his life harder.
And yet…
Danny knew what it felt like to be on the other side of things.
To be shoved into lockers.
To be humiliated.
To be treated like you didn’t belong.
And for all of Manny’s smug grins and cocky bravado…
Something about the way he was acting felt off.
Danny didn’t like it.
Danny didn’t like the way he was acting either.
Still, he forced his eyes shut. He was probably overthinking it. Manny was a brat. That was all there was to it.
He’d deal with it tomorrow.

Frequently Asked Questions
This post answers the following questions:
Who are the Catalans? Where are they?
Which are the Catalan Countries? (each Catalan country)
Where can I learn the Catalan language? (free online resources and where to find classes)
What social media accounts can I follow that post in Catalan?
Other Tumblr blogs similar to this one but for other cultures of the world.
If your question isn't answered here, you're more than welcome to send me an ask!
1. Who are the Catalans? Where are they?
Catalan people are a cultural group who come from the area known as the Catalan Countries. We speak the Catalan language (a language that descends from Latin) and have a distinct culture (cuisine, traditions, holidays, dances, music, literature, etc) and history since the Middle Ages.
Our nation is the Catalan Countries, located in the coast of the Mediterranean sea, in South-Western Europe.
As a result of past wars and invasions, most of the Catalan Countries are under Spanish rule and a part of it is under French rule (+1 city in Italy). In fact, Spain and France have harshly persecuted, illegalized and tried to exterminate the Catalan language and culture for a long time, well into the 20th century. But Catalan people have survived the ethnocide and we still exist, even though we continue to face discrimination and there are some settings where it's still not legal to speak Catalan (for example, public schools in the French-controlled part, or European Union ambits, among some others).
There is also Catalan diaspora around the world.
We are not a closed culture, we are very open to foreigners learning our language and culture, and the Catalan diaspora often organizes celebrations for our holidays or groups to do traditional activities (most famously the castellers, aka human towers) that everyone can join.
2. Which are the Catalan Countries?
We say the Catalan Countries in plural because it's made of different areas for historical reasons. The Catalan Countries are all the areas where Catalan is the native language, which have historically been part of a whole, and which share a common culture (with local variants, of course). Here they are:

From North to South:
Northern Catalonia. Capital city: Perpinyà. It's under French administration (part of the region Occitanie in the new French regions system, used to be Languedoc-Roussillon in the old one).
Andorra. Capital city: Andorra la Vella. It's an independent microstate.
Catalonia. Capital city: Barcelona. It's under Spanish administration (it's the Catalonia region in the Spanish regions system).
Eastern Strip, also called Aragon Strip. It's under Spanish administration (it's part of the region of Aragon in the Spanish regions system).
Balearic Islands, including Mallorca, Menorca, Eivissa (in English also known as Ibiza) and Formentera. Capital city: Palma. Under Spanish administration (Balearics region in the Spanish regions system).
Valencian Country. Capital city: València. Under Spanish administration (called Valencian Community in the Spanish regions system).
El Carxe. Tiny rural area. Under Spanish administration (part of the Region of Murcia in the Spanish regions system).
L'Alguer. One city in the island of Sardinia. Under Italian administration (part of the region of Sardinia in the Italian regions system).
3. Where can I learn the Catalan language?
We are thrilled that you want to learn our language. Catalan people love it when others learn our language. Here I'll link you to classes and free online resources.
If you want face-to-face classes outside of the Catalan Countries, you can check this website to find if there's a university that offers Catalan classes near you. There are 101 around Europe, 25 in North America and Cuba, 5 in Asia, and 4 in South America. Students from these courses can also participate in language stays and internships in the Catalan Countries.
If you're already in the Catalan Countries, you will easily find courses for foreigners which the government offers for free or for a cheap price (depending on the level and each person's economic situation). Check out your local CPNL (Consorci per la Normalització Lingüística).
If you want to learn independently on the internet, there are two resources I recommend the most, both are available online for free.
One is the book "Life in Catalonia. Learn Catalan from..." that you can find in various languages. Here I add the link to the official government page where you can legally download the PDFs for free, you only have to scroll down and click under where it says "text complet". You can find the book Learn Catalan from English, from Spanish, from Arabic, from Tamazight, from French, from Hindi, from Urdu, from Punjabi, from Romanian, from Russian, and from Chinese.
The other resource I recommend the most is the online course Parla.cat. It has different levels for beginners or advanced learners. You have to create an account (it asks for an official document number, don't worry about it, it's not a sketchy site, it's because it's an official course paid by the government of Catalonia and if you immigrated to Catalonia having taken this course would officially count as a language course and can give you some benefits). You can either use it for free (all the learning material is available in the free version) or you can use the paying version. In the paid version, you will get assigned a language teacher from Catalonia who can help you and correct you.
There are many more resources. You can find more free resources in this post, this post, or in this link.
Here you have some recommendations to start practising. And remember that you can watch Catalonia's public TV streaming service 3Cat for free from anywhere in the world!
4. I want to follow social media accounts that post in Catalan. Can you tell me some?
Of course! According to the WWW Consortium, Catalan is the 35th most used language on the Internet, out of the more than 7,000 languages in the world.
Here's some lists with recommendations by topic:
Anime and manga
Cooking
Travel accounts
Videogames
Fashion and lifestyle
Folk culture
More lists will be coming soon
Update: a new website has been published which lists people who post in Catalan by topic. Find it here: llista.cat.
If your question wasn't answered, you can send me a question clicking here. 🙂 You can also browse this blog by topics here.
5. Can you recommend other blogs like this one but for other cultures of the world?
Yes, I made a list of recommendations in this post.

Talk Me Through It- Miguel x F!Reader
Someone (me) has discovered nsfw audios and has not recovered. I've also been into the nerd!Miguel fics that have been going around, but I won't bully him much in mine lol. I'm trying to get some nsfw practice in before I continue my multi-fic, so
cw: nsfw, mdni, fem reader, college au, author knows some Spanish, acquaintances to lovers, voice kink, praise kink, dirty talk, munch Miguel
Who was this? ...WHO! Ain't no way...he sound like that? Shit...
You barely stopped yourself from dropping your head on the desk as another student finished presenting their speech. You had mixed feelings about your Public Speaking class considering your major, but there were worse subjects to take. You already presented yours and were only staying to review other students' for extra credit.
You tapped your pencil absentmindedly as the next student stood to speak. You sat up a little better in your seat seeing who it was.
Miguel O'Hara grabbed people's attention whether he meant to or not. He took up space with his height, broad shoulders, and overall built physique. People were very shocked to learn that he was not an athlete his freshman year, and it probably haunted the football coach every season. You only knew him from hearsay and the occasional interaction when he was at the library during your work-study. You noticed him. It was impossible not to, so you were a bit intrigued to say the least.
The man stood at the front of the class and stumbled to get his laptop connected to the projector. Before beginning, he took out a pair of thin-framed glasses and cleared his throat.
"The work-life balance is something that many experts agree contributes to one's personal health. Yet there are many careers that demand inconsistent hours and strenuous work in order for progress to be made. How-," the man paused when he glanced from the screen to the array of faces looking back at him. He blanked for a moment, and you weren't sure if it was nerves or stress. After a moment, an awkward fake cough seemed to break his daze. He went on.
The presentation was actually pretty informative in your opinion, and Miguel did get his points across. You were surprised by the nervous emotions and little habits he displayed. He seemed to try to find a face to latch onto for eye-contact, and more than once did it feel like he was looking at you. You weren't quite sure, but it didn't matter really. He looked a tinge embarrassed when he finished and grabbed his things, but you hope it didn't bother him too much. People freeze, stutter, mispronounce things all the time.
After class you went to grab some lunch with your friends before the afternoon classes began. Your school was very diverse, and it excited you when you could hear different languages spoken at different tables. It was the main reason why you were taking a Spanish class as an elective. The world was connected in many ways, and many people around the world could speak two or even three languages. You glanced through your Spanish notes for a moment as you remembered that there was a project being assigned today. You were nervous, but your friends told you you were worrying for no reason.
...
"It's seem we'll be working together." That smooth voice grabbed your attention as people were packing up to go. You turned and looked up to see Miguel leaning on a desk near you. "I promise this project is going to go a lot better than that speech I gave earlier."
Oh so he did notice you. You smiled and shook your head. "Oh don't worry about that. Your speech was fine." you insisted. "Besides, why are you taking this class any way?" you were sure you had seen him giving parent tours for prospective international students.
Miguel chuckled as he shrugged his shoulders. "Easy A." You figured, but you also couldn't blame him. "How do you feel about presenting in Spanish though?"
You tilted your hand a little. "Eh I'm kinda okay with it. I'm much better reading it than speaking, but I can hold a conversation."
Miguel seemed to light up hearing that. "Verdad? De donde eres?" (Really? Where are you from?)
You didn't expect him to switch so soon, but you continued with the conversation. "Aqui, pero estudie espanol para cuatro anos y muchos gentes a la mi trabajo hablar." You knew what you said wasn't perfect, but Miguel nodded his head along as you spoke. (Here, but I studied Spanish for four years, and many people at my job speak)
"Bueno, pero tu sonas muy nerviosa. Por que?" You thought you were in your head, but somehow it felt as if he was expressing himself more in this language. You couldn't help but blush from the change. (Good, but you sound nervous. Why?)
You chuckled. "I am nervous. I like to say things correctly, and it's hard when I know I'm wrong."
Miguel shook his head. "Me gusta como tu sonas." he grinned. "Well, I'll text you my schedule, and we can find a time for us to meet up."
"Sweet! I look forward to working with you." you beamed.
The man softened a little. "Same."
~~~
You slumped in bed scrolling through your phone trying to find something to occupy the night. There were a couple of shows you could watch, comics to read, or just endless scrolling. You were looking through some fandom content when one of your mutuals sent you a message.
N3rdT@amer: Girl! I just found this. You got to check it out!
There was a link attached, and it brought you to someone's post where an video teased an audio release. You weren't sure why they sent you this but decided to give it a go. You popped in your headphones as recommended and took a deep breath.
You could hear what sounded to be background noise of people chatting and jazz music. The sounds of steam and glass clinking set up the scene in a coffee shop. Foot-steps got louder then a voice spoke loud and clear.
"Hi, can I get a cold brew with a little hazelnut. Large please." a pause..."on the house? What did I do to deserve such kindness?" There was a tonal change that followed--a little flustered and shy. "Oh, you see me scrabbling with my schoolwork over there? Hehe, that's very kind of you. I want to give you something in return." A pause.
The smooth and confident attitude returned. "No, I insist. You off soon? Perfect."
The pause seemed to indicate a scene change, and you gasped when your ears were filled with the sound of lips smacking and heavy pants that you could almost feel on your skin.
"Mierda," the panting continued, "keep playing in my hair like that I'm gonna keep you up all night." a hearty chuckle followed by a loud slick sound had your thighs clenching, "would you like that, chiquita? Then how about-,"
The audio cut off there, and you wanted to chuck your phone at the wall. What the fuck? What the fuck was that! You let out an irritated breath before clicking on the profile. You choked on a cough.
You were no newbie to the realms of internet personalities or seeing people's personal interests. You had mutuals who posted fanfics and also sold sex content. There were people at your school who would be seen as uppity that enjoyed streaming RPG walkthroughs. It wasn't that surprising but...
Fucking Miguel O'Hara? Fuck.
It was an account where he teased his audio works as well as promoted others. You couldn't believe it. That gorgeous man could be a model, and he was also using his voice to make some cash? Honestly, good for him, but now you were left with a little problem that wasn't going away as you scrolled to see what other works he had. You bit your nail a little when you saw you could buy an promotional audio for $1. You groaned internally...Fuck it.
~~~
You were burning up and tried to figure out how you got in so deep.
It had been a few weeks since your...discovery, and you were screaming mentally on the inside. You didn't think a voice could get you so hot and bothered, but you found yourself going down that rabbit hole with a few late-night purchases to your totally unaware partner. It was funny in a sense because you remembered how nervous and kinda awkward Miguel sounded in your Public Speaking class. You noticed it a little when you guys met for your project when he had to speak to cashiers or other classmates he didn't really know well.
It was cute, to be honest. You could tell he was a little self-conscious about it, but it was hard for you to believe Miguel didn't know about his effect on people. Even now, he took you out to celebrate the spectacular presentation you two gave at a local coffee shop. He must have stuttered or something since he was scratching the back of his head, but the barista just beamed at him and batted her eyelashes. You couldn't blame her really.
It was just such a night-and-day situation. That man was so confident sounding in his works and in Spanish, but when there was the occasional slip-up he blushed.
Your drink was placed in front of you, and you looked up with a smile. "Gracias."
Miguel smiled softly at you. "Claro," he took a seat in front of you and stretched. "I'm glad we did well."
"Same," you took a sip of your drink, "but it's not like you weren't going to." you added nonchalantly.
Miguel quirked an eyebrow. "Hmm, why you say that?"
"You know your stuff, and you can speak well." you answered easily.
Miguel brought his drink to his lips, and your eyes glanced at it. I think that's the drink he ordered in that teaser. Your eyes shot up at the thought. Stop. Stop! Don't do that. You've been doing good, self. Not when we're in front of him! "Everything okay?"
"Huh!" you perked up and then giggled awkwardly. "Yeah, yeah."
The man continued. "Well, I try my best. I just don't want to look dumb in front of people."
You kissed your teeth with a shake of the head. "You definitely don't look dumb, trust me."
Miguel looked at your curiously. "Then what do people think of me?"
You tried to stop your brain from glitching. There was no way this man didn't know how attractive he was--at least not completely. "Well uh," you grabbed your phone as a diversion, "let me show you this video! There's this girl who went to Puerto Rico and-," you tapped quickly on your phone while disconnecting your headphones, but wasn't really paying attention as you moved frantically.
"Ah coño, you feeling good, mi corazon?" A deep moan followed. "Do you like that? Let me give you some more. "
You froze. He froze. You made a short squeal as you slammed your phone down, wanting to run out immediately. You thought you closed that tab. Why didn't you close that tab? Fuck, he totally heard that!
Miguel was slow to speak. "What was that?" you blinked and made a dismissive sound. Miguel lowered his voice a little bit. "What was that, mami?"
You know your panic was displayed on your face, but you continued to play dumb. "I have no idea what you're talking about...anyway, so here's that vid-,"
Miguel's chuckle cut you off. It was different than his normal one. It was deeper, meaner--the one he used professionally. "Ah, it's not good to lie, bebita." he leaned in closer so only you could hear him. "You like my voice? It turns you on?" he growled lowly.
You refused to look at him. You turned to the side and played with your straw. "Mi-Miguel, we're in public." A mumble. You felt your face warm up significantly; you changed your posture a little and unconsciously rubbed your thighs together.
His low snicker went down your body. "So? I bet you were listening to that earlier. Was it while you were at the library? Supposed to be working, but you wanna hear me call you a good girl and think about how wet my fingers would sound inside you?" You bit your lip then released a shaky breath. "Mirame, chiquita," he watched you turn a little and meet his gaze. He grinned. "Que bueno" he looked you up and down and licked his lips. "Wanna hear something else?" you nodded a little. "Words," (Look at me, little girl./How nice)
"Yes, Miguel."
"Good girl."
~~~
You fidgeted nervously as you sat up straight on Miguel's bed and tried to avoid eye-contact. He was looking down at you completely smug after not saying a word to you on the way over. You were lost in your thoughts, but now, you could only hear the thumping of your heart in your chest.
"Tell me pretty girl," you nearly jumped finally hearing him, "did you get off to my voice?" you opened your mouth to speak, "Mirame."
Slowly, you did, and the sight was wicked. Miguel looked as cocky as you imagined him to. The angle of him looking down at you while you sat made the situation all the more intense and seductive. His eyes devoured you and told you that he was completely in control of the situation--enjoying it.
"I did."
He made a non-committal grunt--glancing around his room in thought. "I want to see."
Your body lit up. "What!"
Miguel chuckled. "Why not? You want me to give you instructions?"
You squeaked. "No! That's not the point...it's just embarrassing."
"Aww, but you did it all those nights at home." he leaned by your ear, "Imagining it was me making all those wet pussy sounds with my mouth. I bet you were hoping I'd find out." he watched as you squirmed from the sheer proximity and how he spoke. His voice dropped lower. "I bet you're wet now." he huffed.
"Miguel," you whined. You were asking for something, but even you weren't sure what exactly.
"What, baby?" he grinned.
You grumbled for a moment before yanking his collar towards you and smacking your lips together. You kissed him to shut him up, but maybe that wasn't a good idea either. Miguel met yours enthusiasm and groaned at the feeling of spark finally igniting. He leaned further in, and you found yourself on your back wrapping your arms around your neck.
He caged you in with his thighs before moving away to tease up and down your neck. He bit and sucked all over--memorizing what and where made you make a certain sound. "Ah there you go. You can make as much noise as you want for me." his words vibrated throughout you. You reached up and rubbed your fingers through his hair and along his scalp. He groaned. "Mmm, someone was listening." he moved up just below your ear and took a teasing nibble from your lobe. ''Which one did you like the most?"
It took you a second to realize what he was talking about, but you didn't want him to pull back. You were already this far; no point in shying about now. "The- the brat tamer one...with the neighbor."
Miguel seemed to approve your answer. "Naughty girl," his hands found your hips and slid a little under your shirt, "you need someone to put you in your place? Good thing I caught you being a slut." you whimpered at the name. "You were just gonna let this be your dirty little secret, huh? Playing with yourself after we did our homework--remembering how we chatted so innocently."
You gripped tightly on his shoulders as his hands ran further up while his teeth bit near your collar. "I should blindfold you right now. You don't need to look at me to finish."
"No! No, please. I want more. I wanna see and touch you, please." you took a leg and wrapped it by his knee--trying to bring him closer.
"Greedy and naughty. Tsk, what should I do with you?" Miguel leaned back before taking the hem of his shirt and lifting it away. Your eyes widened at the display of muscles and beautiful brown skin. You licked your lips. "Was this what you were imagining, chiquita?"
Your hand shyly reached out to touch his abs. "This is so much better." you nearly whispered. Miguel chuckled at your compliment. He backed away slowly; then you yelped as your ankle was pulled moving you to the edge of the bed.
You were bright-eyed as you saw Miguel kneel on the floor easily pulling your pants down. You moaned when he started kissing up one leg after throwing it over his shoulder. He massaged the other and wasn't shy to lick up and down--planting kisses and bites.
You gripped the sheets and started panting and wiggling. "That's alright, hermosa. I wanna hear everything from you. Haré música con este coño." He paused once he was closer and took a look at your panties. "All this just from some simple words." It was almost condescending yet admirable how he said it. "You flatter me." (I'll make music with this pussy)
You shrieked as he mouthed you through the cloth. This man was a tease. You shouldn't be surprised, but you were going to get him to cooperate as much as your foggy mind could do.
"Mmm papi chulo, give it to me good. Plesse baby," you begged, and it seemed that Miguel had a weakness for words too. He wasted no time dragging your soaked panties down and toss them behind. He grinned meanly hearing a faint plop sound on the floor. So wet.
Your hand quickly found the back of his head once his tongue made contact on your clit. You didn't think he'd go for it so quickly, but it seemed he was bent on getting you to cum hard and fast. He lapped up your cunt and made it slicker with his drool. He easily lifted you up a little to bring you closer, and you found yourself losing it when he teased by your hole.
He didn't let up--groaning when you gasped after he gave you a finger. He pumped slowly yet consistently and moved his mouth around to give everywhere all of his attention. Soon, your ears could only focus on the sounds that were coming out of your own mouth and the approval from Miguel below. He took a breather to play with your clit and was in daze hearing how it wet and slippery you sounded. You were all pants, moans, and whimpers. He smirked up at you--face shiny and wet.
"You sound so pretty, hermosa. You gonna soak my sheets by the time I'm done with you." you clenched around his fingers. "Mmm, I know baby; you want it badly." he started fingering you faster. "I wouldn't even need my dick to get this pussy squirting." your moans went up a pitch as that knot suddenly got tighter. "Ooo, hermosa. Such a slutty pussy doesn't even need a dick to make her happy. I should've made you cum with my voice, yeah? Say all those filthy things about you being a brat and how you make daddy so mad." you sobbed at that.
"You should've just been a good girl and asked daddy to fuck this pretty cunt of yours." He sped up and you were pulling at the sheets as three fingers made you clench up--going harder and making you fill fuller. "Naughty girls keep secrets. Maybe I'll stop right now."
That got you talking. "No, no, daddy please. Daddy please. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm such a slut and didn't ask for your dick. Please I'll be so good baby. I'll be such a good girl." you babbled on.
Miguel's cock was begging to be free. You knew just what to say it seemed. "Mmm, that's what I want to hear. Come on reina, let me see you make a mess. You gonna cum on my fingers, for me?" Your eyes were rolling to the back of your head as you panted and struggled for air.. Wet sex sounds bounced off the walls, and you were going to be done soon. "Start cumming bebita. I'll fuck you so good after this. Yeah? Give it to me. Right there, mmhm. Fuck there you go." Miguel watched as your release started coating his fingers and dripped onto his wrist. He kept going a little til you started to twitch then slowly decreased to stop.
You were slumped on the bed trying to process what just happened while your body recovered from such an intense orgasm. "Fuck," you said to yourself. You groaned as your legs were gently rubbed, and you could barely glance down at the man.
He was all smiles and innocence despite how he met your gaze and cleaned his fingers. Gosh that mouth was going to be the death of you.
As if he reading your thoughts, he grinned before starting to move. "Let me show you what else my body can do."
~~~
Whew! Oh my gosh, I can't believe I wrote this. I'm actually happy with it. I like how Miguel's personality is and I hope my mediocre Spanish skills weren't a pain. I needed to get this idea out my head, and I'm so happy how this is. Maybe I should try writing audio scripts 🤔Thanks for reading~

Te Reo Māori rambles ~
Kia ora, quick disclaimer! I'm still sort of new learning Te Reo Māori! (Teh-*r*eh-awe maah-*r*ee: the māori language) I only started my classes in term 1 and its term 2 currently. (a term is half of a semester, there are 4 terms in a nz school year) so yea! If you happen to know more than me and or spot a mistake I make when posting in or about Te Reo Māori, please correct me! Te Reo Pākehā (teh-*r*eh-awe paah-keh-haa: the English language) is my first language so I'm fluent in that :)
Also Te Reo Māori is kinda like a spinterest atm lmaoo im so excited about hearing the language being spoken and seeing it written around the country and im excited to learn!! Yayy!! Learning the language and Te Ao Māori (Māori ways/culture/traditions) helps me feel more connected to my Māori whakapapa aswell! (fuhck-ah-puh-puh: ancestors/ancestry) I am Māori, it doesn't matter if you're white or mixed. Having Māori ancestry = Māori. Period. In Māori culture we dont believe in blood quantums!!! so im what people call a "White Māori"
anyways onto the yapping!!!!!!
Key:
• (small brackets) = pronounciation and/or meaning
• *r/t/ng inside asterisks* = special māori sounds.
• bold = kupu Māori (maori words)
~
Fun fact: the p sound is very soft! Like the p in "poo" NOT like the p in "keep" does that make sense? another super fun fact: all kupu Māori (cooh-pooh maoh-*r*ee: māori words) end in vowel sounds and never consonants!
Māori vowel pronounciation:
a - "ahh" as in: car, star, bar, guitar, far
e - "eh" as in: lego, leg, peg, said, head
i - "ee" as in: key, bee, see, reach, scream
o - "aw" as in: saw, claw, maw, jaw, NOT as in "oh/low/so/no"!! This is the most abused vowel by English speakers!
u - "ooh" as in: poo, moo, goo, soon, lose, choose, move, room
Digraphs:
Ng - "ng" as in: song, long, pong, singer, rung NOT as in: finger, linger
Wh - "f/ph" as in: phone, food, few, far, physical, philosophy, phile. NOT as in: who, where, when, what, whether, why, while .
note: different Māori dialects sometimes pronounce this sound as a "w". eg: lots of people pronounce "whanganui" as "wanganui" (fah-*ng*ah-noo-ee/wah-*ng*ah-noo-ee) For other sounds: For "R" focus on rolling your 'r' sounds, It's a soft rolled 'r' (NOT as strongly rolled as how Spanish speakers would roll theirs). the sound you should aim for is somewhere in between an English ‘D’ and 'L'. e.g. like the 'dd' in judder, or the 'tt' in a kiwi accent for 'butter'. You should feel your tongue tip touching near the backof the roof of your mouth. T is pronounced kinda like a sharp "d", but 't' pronunciation varies depending on which vowel appears after it. When succeeded by an ‘a’, ‘e’ or ‘o’, it’s unaspirated (softer, closer to an English 'd'). When followed by an ‘i’ or ‘u’, it is an aspirated 't' (sharper, closer to an English 't'). Hope that makes sense!!!
Tohutō vowels:
(Special vowels sounds written with tohutō (macrons) on them)
ā - exaggerate and deepen the regular māori "a" sound and make sure it stands out from the other vowels! But not too much or you'll look like a fool lmaoo X3 eg: when pronouncing the sound, open your throat and lower the back of your tongue. And say "ah". It should sound different to normally saying "ah". another example is that "tohutō" is pronounced "toh-who-taww" not "toh-who-toh" !!
ē - same thing ^ but with "e"
ī - ^
ō - ^
ū - ^
Sentences !
(Please correct me if I make mistakes or worded the sentence incorrectly)
- " i tēnei ata i whakarongo ahau ki te ngā manu " - this morning I listened to the birds
pronounced: ee tehh-nae ah-tah ee fuck-ah-*r*awh-*ng*-awe uh-hoe key teh *ng*aahh munooh
- "Kei te pēhea koe?" - how are you?
pronounced: Kay teh pehh-heeya kweh
- " Kei te ngenge ahau " - I am sleepy/tired
Pronounced: Kay teh *ng*eh-*ng*eh ahh-hoe
- " Kua haere ahau ki te wharepaku " - I went to the toilet/bathroom
Pronounced: kooh-uh hai-*r*eh ah-hoe key teh fuh-*r*eh-pahk-oo
Ok im done yapping have a good day!!! Ka kite!!

Izzy backstory thoughts...
Now we know some more stuff about Izzy as a character - he can read, he sings, he knows at least some French, he has a family he remembers fondly - even though they're 'long dead' and based on accent alone he's likely from a working class northern background.
My head canon is that he was brought up in a pub that his family owned/ran, probably near the docks - somewhere he mixed with lots of different nationalities, picked up their songs and bits of language. Maybe that's how he learned to whittle.
He was probably taught how to read/write by a parent, and learned arithmetic via the business - a skill needed for helping to run a ship. It would also be an environment where he'd pick up the skill of people watching, of anticipating trouble. He shows he's very handy in a bar fight, obviously most pirates would have reason to be, but he definitely seemed more resigned than most, actively trying to avoid one. Could it also be why he hates Spanish Jackiez? Does it remind him of home?
He has 'oldest sibling' energy to me - everything is his fault, his responsibility - and maybe he ended up going into the Navy to make money for his family as the business was failing or because he lost them and had nothing to stay for. The ring he wears might be the only thing left once his family debts were settled.
Maybe he was pressganged and by the time he got back home, home was gone.

+++++
It was the beginning of a new school year, and you, a transfer student from Mexico, stood at the gates of U.A. High. The tall, modern buildings felt intimidating, but you couldn't help but feel excited. This was a place where your quirk would be recognized, a place where you could truly challenge yourself.
You adjusted your bag, the weight of your notebook filled with formulas and plans for your future making it feel heavier than usual. Your quirk was a unique one—one that made you stand out. But it wasn't just your quirk that got you into U.A.; it was your intelligence. You had learned quickly in the past that being brilliant was as important as having a strong quirk. But what you hadn't expected was how this school would test your emotional growth, too.
You made your way to the 2-A classroom, the door already ajar. Inside, students were talking, laughing, and getting to know one another or rather, they already knew each other and were catching up after break. Your eyes scanned the room, and your gaze landed on a tall, down styled spiky-haired student, standing near the window. He was casually talking to some of the other students, his energy contagious.
His name was Hanta Sero, a hero-in-training with the ability to shoot tape from his elbows. You knew that, they were on television during last year's sports festival and during the war. What caught your attention was that his smile was so welcoming, and his voice was warm and comforting. He was so different from the others, and you couldn't help but admire that.
As you stepped into the classroom, the noise died down a bit. Everyone looked at you, eyes wide with curiosity. You took a deep breath, stepping up to the front with the confidence that only your academic achievements could give you.
"Hola," you said, your voice steady. "Me llamo (Y/n). Vengo de México." (Hello, my name is (Y/n). I come from Mexico.)
You spoke in Spanish, a language you were more comfortable with as you were still learning Japanese, but your eyes remained on the students, watching their reactions. Some of them were unsure, while others looked like they wanted to ask something. It was then that Sero, noticing your slight discomfort, stood up and waved.
"¡Oye! ¡No te preocupes!" (Hey! Don't worry!)
His voice was loud and cheerful, instantly cutting through any tension. You turned to look at him, and he gave you a smile that made your nerves ease just a bit.
"Soy Hanta Sero, y también hablo español," he said, his voice calm and kind. (I'm Hanta Sero, and I speak Spanish too.)
The students around you chuckled softly as you smiled, feeling a weight lift off your shoulders. You weren't the only one who understood your language.
"Mucho gusto, Sero," you replied, nodding slightly. (Nice to meet you, Sero.)
The rest of the class resumed, but Sero lingered near you, offering small conversations in Spanish to make you feel more comfortable. As the day went on, you realized he had a way of making everyone feel included, especially when there was a language barrier. It was a relief, but you couldn't ignore the fact that he was making your heart flutter, just a little.
Later that week, Sero sat next to you during lunch. The cafeteria was loud, filled with the chatter of students, but you found it easy to talk to him.
"Entonces, ¿cómo llegaste a U.A.?" Sero asked, leaning in a little. (So, how did you end up at U.A.?)
You smiled, taking a deep breath. "Mis calificaciones eran muy buenas, y mi quirk es fuerte. Me recomendaron venir aquí." (My grades were excellent, and my quirk is strong. They recommended I come here.)
Sero's eyes lit up. "¿Y cuál es tu quirk?" (And what's your quirk?)
"Es telequinesis," you said with a slight grin. "Puedo mover objetos con mi mente." (It's telekinesis. I can move objects with my mind.)
"¡Eso suena impresionante!" (That sounds amazing!)
You chuckled, feeling a bit shy at the attention. "Gracias. ¿Y el tuyo? El tape, ¿verdad?" You pointed at his elbows. (Thanks. And yours? The tape, right?)
"Sí," he said, holding out his arm. "Es muy útil para muchas cosas." (Yeah. It's super useful for a lot of things.)
You nodded. The two of you kept chatting, the conversation flowing easily in Spanish. It felt like a natural rhythm, almost like you had known each other longer than just a few days. There was something about Sero that made you feel safe, something you hadn't expected in this place of strangers.
Weeks passed, and you began to notice that Sero always found ways to talk to you, making sure you were okay, making you laugh. You were surprised by how much you looked forward to seeing him each day. His kindness, his humor, and the way he made everyone feel included were traits you admired. You found yourself starting to care about him more than you had expected.
One afternoon, after a long training session, the two of you stayed behind in the gym, working on your respective skills. You were practicing controlling heavier objects with your telekinesis, while Sero was perfecting his aim with his tape.
"You're getting stronger," Sero said, pausing to watch you. "I can tell."
"Gracias," you said, giving him a small smile. "It's a lot of practice." (Thank you)
He grinned and leaned against the wall, looking at you with admiration. "You know," he said, voice soft, "you're really incredible."
You blinked, surprised by his words. "I—I just try to keep improving," you replied, trying to focus on your telekinesis.
He pushed himself off the wall, taking a step toward you. "You don't give yourself enough credit. You're brilliant, and your quirk is one of the strongest I've ever seen." He paused, his expression turning a bit more serious. "But... I think you're more amazing for who you are."
You looked up at him, your heart skipping a beat. His words were genuine, no hint of teasing or joking. There was something deeper behind those words.
"Sero..." you began, but you didn't quite know how to finish.
He reached out, gently placing a hand on your arm, the touch warm and reassuring. "Me gustas, (Y/n). Mucho." (I like you, (Y/n). A lot.)
Your cheeks flushed, the words ringing in your ears. "Yo también..." (I like you too...)
Sero smiled at your words, his expression soft and full of warmth. "Entonces, ¿te gustaría salir conmigo?" (So, would you like to go out with me?)
You nodded, your heart racing, knowing this was the beginning of something special.
"Sí." (Yes.)

Venting about my own stupid brain after the cut
I’m trying to learn Korean. I’m not doing a very good job of learning Korean. There’s a number of reasons why (difficulty still in telling some of the vowels apart, recognizing words whole instead of reading them phonetically which means I forget what the letters sound like, which means I can’t read new words, etc), but of the reasons I’m having trouble, the ones that are the most prevalent are tied back to the gifted child problem. I never really learned how to study, because I didn’t have to learn how to study. I crammed before quizzes or tests, held the information just as long as necessary, and then poof, it was gone as soon as I didn’t need it anymore.
I’m also discovering I have inherent anxiety about being bad at things, even things that it’s perfectly reasonable for me to be bad at (like a new skill). I got so used to tying my worth/identity to how immediately good at things I was, that if I’m not immediately good at a thing, I just give up, because what’s the point? Just the idea of trying to speak Korean out loud- even in a room where I’m alone, even something simple- has me crying, because it’s like an ingrained response to not letting myself do something where there’s even a remote chance I’ll get it wrong. Trying to get myself to practice saying something out loud is like trying to get myself to put my hand on an active stove burner- technically, yeah I can do it, but it’s like my body/brain won’t let me out of a fucked-up sense of self-defense/preservation.
I don’t know how to get past it, I don’t know how to learn how to learn, how to learn to be okay with being bad at things without just giving up when it’s uncomfortable. If there was some way to know for certain that I had the capacity to learn it, it might be easier, but without actually trying to do it, there’s just no way to know, and the idea of trying to do it and then failing hurts enough it’s making it near impossible to try in the first place.
I’m frustrated. I don’t want to just give up, because that feels like failure, too, and so I’m in a place where no matter what I do, I feel like I’m failing. If I just stop trying, that’s failure. If I try and discover that no, I can’t actually learn it, that’s failure, too, and wasted time/energy on top of it. And sure, there’s the third option, the one where I can do it, but of course my brain doesn’t let that one enter the possibility list at all, because learning a second language and being able to retain it isn’t a thing I’ve ever managed to do before. I’ve had to try learning two other languages before (Hebrew and Spanish), and wasn’t especially good at managing either beyond what I absolutely had to. I was hoping that trying to learn a language I wanted to learn, as opposed to one I was being forced to learn/study would make a difference, but my brain doesn’t seem to read it any differently and I hate that I don’t know how to get around it.
Part of it is likely figuring out the way I learn best, but I have no idea what that is, since I feel like I don’t know how to learn things in the first place (or at least not things that don’t have a physical/hands-on component). I’m trying duolingo right now, but I’m at an impasse because I’ve figured out it’s not really working for me, but I also don’t want to just stop, because I worry if I do then I won’t continue with anything, which again equals failure. I downloaded Rocket Korean to try, but as soon as I got to the first point in the lesson where it wanted me to try to say something out loud, I ended up just closing the program in tears. For the same reason, I’m loathe to take an actual course, even if it would be helpful, because I can’t imagine trying to do it without having a meltdown every single class, or again, just proving I can’t actually do it.
I wish my brain would let me see an option other than just the different ways I can fail. I wish I’d known earlier that I had ADHD and needed better support in figuring out how to learn efficiently/correctly. I wish a lot of things, but don’t know how to make any of the things I have the potential to change actually change. How do you get a brain that survives on getting all the little scraps of dopamine it can find focus/work on a thing without the guarantee of reward? How do I get a brain that seems intent on only immediate gratification to work on a thing that might eventually give that but with no guarantee? Because I haven’t figured that out yet, and I have a feeling that until I can, I’m just fucked, and that feeling just sucks (all this on top of it feeling incredibly arrogant to say something like ‘I don’t know how to be bad at things’, because that feels shitty, too).

The "Yuu" for Ignihyde's chapter.
Also a part of the "not having it" club. Like, they wouldn't have any issues except that Night Raven College is NOT accessible. "Crowley, how do you expect me to get to class with the 20 different staircases?" So now her wheelchair is enchanted to float; they do use this to their advantage. Gets along best with Ruggie, but somehow befriended Vil and Sebek.
She lived with her mother and stepmom in El Paso, Texas. During winter breaks she would visit her dad in San Diego, California. She learned Haitian Creole from her grandfather before he passed. They miss watching the Spanish soap operas with her moms so they join the Film Studies club to fill in that gap. It's not the same, but it helps.
Rayen would have been sorted into Diasomnia, they don't see themself as noble, but apparently, the mirror does. She and Sebek bicker constantly, and everyone thinks that they hate each other, but Lilia knows that it's all in good fun... at least on Rayen's part. Sebek doesn't understand how he came to befriend Rayen, but now he can't get rid of her.
They hate it when people don't pick up after themselves, mainly due to accessibility reasons. Usually, she uses her wheelchair but can use crutches for short distances. Ramshackle is honestly their worst nightmare, but the professors banded together to make it accessible for her. The entire student body nearly had a French revolution with Crowley for that.
They tend to wear more form-fitting clothes so that they don't get caught up in the wheels of her wheelchair. Really likes bright colours and neons, but also loves their black hoodie. Wears colourful dreadlocks, which fall down to the middle of their back; she does a bunch of fun styles with them. Has custom wheel covers with fun designs, and allows her friends to put stickers on them. Speaks Haitian Creole with Sam.
During art class, they sculpted a frog in a suit. The glaze she was using had magical properties and brought the frog to life, so now they have a magical clay frog butler. Crewel is her favourite teacher, as he campaigned to build some elevators around campus. Rayen purposefully runs over Crowley's feet whenever he's near.

Friend, do you have a fun fact in these fridaily times?
Way to get ahead of the game man! Usually, I'm not that awake for a long time before starting work on Fridays, so I don't have time to answer this early in the morning. But today is your lucky Friday, because I woke up at some obscene hour for reasons unknown.
Anyhow! Today You Learned about South Africa's capitals and official languages.
When I was in elementary school, we had a project where each member of the class had to pick a country and do a presentation on it, complete with food. This included the capital and official language. And I when I picked South Africa, I was happy to report that the country I selected had eleven official languages.
Teacher: Well, yes, they have a lot of languages, but what are the official ones? There can only be one or two.
Me: NOPE! They have eleven.
Welp, Wikipedia lists twelve languages, including South African Sign Language, but I'm looking at their constitution and it seems to only list, as I suspected, eleven official languages. (Only eleven. Wow. That's still a lot.)
That's a lot! And according to their constitution, their official languages are!:
The official languages of the Republic are Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana, siSwati, Tshivenda, Xitsonga, Afrikaans, English, isiNdebele, isiXhosa and isiZulu.
I believe that isiXhosa is the language spoken in Wakanda in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the actor playing T'Chaka could speak it. Which is, um, odd, considering that yes, it's an African language, but it's from another part of the continent than Wakanda (admittedly, a fictional country) is supposed to be. It'd be like if a fictional country near Scandanavia spoke Spanish.
Anyhow, South Africa also has three capitals! One for each branch of government: Cape Town, for the legislative branch, Bloemfontein for the judicial branch, and Pretoria for the executive branch!
So now you know.
