I have never seen so much fanfic premise in one movie (this is a lie but let me make my point)
I was watching Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths — Part One. and OH MY GOSH
Further down is spoilers btw
BUT SERIOUSLY?!?!? YOU WANT TO TELL ME HOW BATMAN AND SUPERMAN WERE JUST CASUALLY LIVING OUT SO MANY FANFIC PLOTS?!?!
Superman gets hurt and the only thing he can think of before potentially DYING is giving Barry and Ollie, Bruce’s address. THEN JUST PASSING OUT?!?!?
And Bruce is super skeptical at first but then see’s Clark passed out and demands they bring him in.
and Barry is like “he asked see you, so thanks for not being mad about this.” to which Bruce responds “who say I’m not mad?” Oh you’re mad alright, but not because your identity was discovered but because your boyfriend is about to die and he wasn’t careful!!!
and then Alfred just KNOWS what tea Clark likes??? Why do you, as a butler, know what type of tea another man likes???? If not for the fact that the man you work for is dating the tea man????
There were so many other small scenes just between the two that were so superbat coded im not entirely convinced that it’s not real

A reminder that Mister Mxyzptlk is NEVER in his true form, and if he were, you wouldn't be able to handle it.
The Myxy you see in every Earth is the same one, he just changes his appearance each time.
Therefore, it stands to reason that an Anime-esque Earth with an Ikemen Superman, and a Korean Lois Lane with Manhwa FL energy will have a Dragon Ball Z x Chichiri from Fushigi Yuugi styled Myxy!
MISTER MYXZPTLK CHOSE THIS FORM.
ACCEPT IT.

Five versions of Supergirl head to aid their cousin (or in Cir-El's case, father), Superman, in Superman/Batman (vol. 1) #25 (May, 2006). Written by Jeeps Loeb. Art by Ed McGuinness and Dexter Vines. Color by Dave McCaig. Lettering by Richard Starkings.
I miss the Linda Danvers and Cir-El versions of Supergirl. Even though Cir-El eventually turned out to not be Superman's and Lois' daughter from the future, she was a fun character to have around. And there's always a chance a real Cir-El could be seen in the future (Clark and Lois had many servings of beef bourguinon after he returned from Warworld).
That said, I also miss Power Girl as she was depicted back then. Her personality now, as seen in One-Star Squadron and her current series, has made her into a whiney milquetoast, not the strong, confident woman she's been known as.

Spoilers if you have not read the comic
Tumblr media
To start things off Clark is talking about enjoying the snow and Christmas and it will be his first Christmas in Metropolis. We get our title, a possible reference to The Man Who Fell to Earth, the novel by Walter Tevis where an alien who lands on Earth and seeks to bring his people there due to a drought on his home world. Very apt title for a Superman comic I should say.
Also check out Batman/Santa Claus: Silent Knight for a cool crossover between the DC heroes and Santa Claus, its FUCKING AWESOME!
Tumblr media
We then see Clark talking about his Christmas experience back in Kansas with Ma and Pa Kent, but he'll be all alone on his first Christmas in Metropolis. Luckily for him Lois and Jimmy are planning special for him but they need the other Daily Planet trio to distract Clark from figuring out the plans. I talked more about them here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back at their office Jimmy and Lois plan out what they'll do for Clark's Christmas in Metropolis and Jimmy mentions the Metropolis Monarchs, Metropolis' baseball team who are first mentioned in Atlas of the DC Universe. We also see Kaiju Parasite/Ivo and Overman in the next panel, both of which I talk about here, here, here, and here.
Tumblr media
Trouble happens when the Daily Planet begins to topple over and Superman goes to put it back but notices hand prints that melted the base of the building. He, Lois, and Jimmy investigate in the sewers and sees an Amazo robot inspired Parasite. I talked more about the Amazo robot and Parasite here and here, they're the same links as the ones above in the previous section in case you missed them. The Parasite suit here is more Amazo inspired thanks to the green striping on the body.
Tumblr media
The second Parasite is able to adapt to Superman's powers like his super strength and before it gets taken down my the US military it tell Superman to "please save me". Robert DuBois arrives on the scene to clear the Parasite's body away. That name may sound familiar to you if you saw the latest Suicide Squad movie because...
Tumblr media
Robert DuBois is Bloodsport. He makes his first appearance in Superman #4 (1987) [Cover art by John Byrne]. In the comics Robert was supposed to be drafted for the Vietnam War, but was afraid to go and fled to Canada so his brother, Mickey went instead. Unfortunately Mickey lost his arms and legs and that scarred Robert who then seeked help at the Canadian psychiatric wards.
Lex would then find Robert and outfit him with his outfit you see on the cover and give him weapons that fired green Kryptonite to hopefully kill Superman and a teleportation device that can teleport any weapon he wants to his hands.
Luckily Robert surrendered after Jimmy was able to locate his brother to tell him to stop his rampage and give up and was sentenced to Stryker's Island.
Other Bloodsports have taken up the mantle after Robert, such as Alex Trent, a racist piece of shit, and an unnamed person who dressed similarly to Robert's Bloodsport costume. But the one pop culture knows is Robert DuBois who was played by Idris Elba in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad movie from 2021.
Tumblr media
In current continuity we see Robert be more designed to look like his movie counterpart and being part of the Suicide Squad too as shown here from Suicide Squad #5 (2021) [W: Robbie Thompson, P&I: Dexter Soy, Eduardo Pansica, Joe Prado, and Julio Ferreira, C: Alex Sinclair, L: Wes Abbot] where he is on Earth - 3, the evil counterparts Earth for a Task Force X mission.
Tumblr media
And speaking of shady DC organizations Slade name drops Checkmate. I talked about both of them here and here.
With that, we finally end our Easter egg and references hunt in My Adventures with Superman #1! Be sure to pick up a copy from your local comic shop and remember to preorder issue 2 when it comes out next month! Preordering books lets DC know there are fans for this series! If you like Superman, My Adventures with Superman, or DC in general give this comic a shot! Take it from me a former comic shop employee during college.
I'll see you all again next week for episode 4 of My Adventures with Superman and next month for issue 2 of the comic!
If you haven't seen the Easter eggs and references to season 1, the list is here.
My season 2 episode 1 Easter eggs and references in My Adventures with Superman post is here.
My season 2 episode 2 Easter eggs and references in My Adventures with Superman post is here.
My season 2 episode 3 Easter eggs and references in My Adventures with Superman post is here

We need more fanfictions that are basically “my comic book reboot”
Like, essentially fans reboot a series of their choice and write it their way. Put all the stuff they love in there while making it something they’d proudly show to their friends and say “this is the series I love and am inspired by.”
Like, don’t just wait for the movie to come out or the next comic book reboot. Make it yourself and show it to people.
Make your own Spectacular Spider-Man, your own Ultimates, your own All-Star Superman, your earth ones, your year ones, whatever you like.

Bruce: Okay, Di, we're back.
Clark: I hope you didn't get overwhelmed while taking over for us.
Diana: Oh don't be, how was your *ahem* "totally platonic and definitely not gay" date?
Clark: Amazing, Bruce took me to Tiffany's and then we had dinner at macdonalds.
Darkseid: I went to macdonalds, very nice.
Clark: ...
Bruce: ...
Clark: Di, what is he doing here?
Diana: I reformed him.
Bruce: You what? Impossible.
Lex: I just created a cure for cancer.
Clark: !?
Diana: Amazing work.
Bruce: Did you uses mind control?
Diana: That wasn't necessary.
The Joker: *walking in with a tray of freshly backed something* I did something benefitual.
Diana: Excellent.
Bruce: ....
Bruce: ....
Bruce: HOW!!!
Diana: *Gestures to lasso* I compelled them to face the truth and they submitted to me in loving submission.
Clark: So you dominated them!?
Diana: Basically, they all were pretty easy.
Clark: "They all"?
Diana: Yes.*open door to reveal that every last DC villain has been reformed and are now doing mentally stable things*.
The news: This just in, we are now in a state of universal peace, poor people just stopped being poor, men stopped having the audacity, Rihanna has released a new album.
Clark: ....
Bruce: ....
Bruce: Did you...
Diana: Yes, I did.
Clark: If there's world peace, what do we do now?
Diana: Go on another -ahem- "totally platonic and definitely not gay" date, it seems that you're good at it.
Arthur: I did something too.
Diana, Bruce and Clark at the same time: Nobody cares.

ever notice how DC comics has an absolutely dogshit moral compass when it comes to the old cliche of “superhero liberates oppressed country” going all the way back to the golden age?
and it’s not just the industry, its the fanbase, how many times have we heard “why cant superman overthrow every dictatorship” get thrown around.
superman: earth-one actually did it right. if one person has power over everyone else and uses that power to topple governments he doesn’t like, what does that make him? not a good person
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not the case with donna troy in tales of the titans#3, who steve orlando (known liberal) portrays as a overly moralistic, voyeuristic crusader with a “holier than thou” attitude that can’t even photograph atrocities in a respectful way. she acts like a glorified PMC mercenary breaking almost every international law imaginable and somehow its a good thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the issue itself is laden with exceptionalist propaganda (ignores the colonial origins of internment camps, for one). but hey! it’s ok! they put the baddie on trial at the ICC, so its fine! everything’s ok!
but don’t tell steve orlando that the united states isn’t an ICC member state and doesn’t acknowledge the authority of the hague. in fact, the US is critical of the ICC.
seriously don’t tell him though, because that’ll utterly destroy his idealized “i believe in the dream” romantic nationalism.
scratch a liberal, and a fascist bleeds.

Clark: i dont have any idea whats going on but i DO know one thing and its that this woman is trying to hurt Wally's kid and thats not gonna fly
Man poor Clark. Dude is trying so hard to understand and help out but he's just... so slow. The man is like living molasses in Flash Time.
From his perspective it was just a normal day then giant spaceships came out of nowhere and suddenly there is an army of blurs and he just starts teleporting from place to place before he can even register the locations.
Then suddenly he's with familiar blurs, ones clad in red and yellow. Their forms fading in and out like hummingbird wings, voices more akin to mice squeaking than actual language. If he didn't have his superhearing and his ability to hear inhumanly high pitches, he wouldn't have a chance at understanding them. They try to stay still long enough for Clark to talk to them.
He says "What is going-" and then they're gone again. He didn't even finish the question.
Then there's just one blur around. Small, orangey-red at the top, must be Wally's daughter Irey. Before he can even register that information she's being choked by some unknown blur halfway across the room. Something touches his hands and he doesn't even have time to look at them, he just grabs. He was desperate at this point. Good or bad, whoever this was they were staying put until Clark got some answers.
Anyway I think it's very funny that the Kryptonians are aware that something is happening. But they can't do anything about it. It must be incredibly frustrating and confusing to them.
They can hear the screams of the people who died and the people who are trapped in rubble. They would have seen/heard the spaceships come in. They came in at a normal speed so they would have had time to react to that. They know it's an alien invasion, they know people are dying and they know that they can't help.
