What Are The Health Benefits Of Fasting In Ramadan?
— Islam Channel | Ramadan | Friday March 22, 2024
Tumblr media
We know Ramadan has its spiritual blessing but what about the barakah and health benefits the body gets from fasting in the blessed month?
Fasting during the month of Ramadan helps with general wellbeing. It gives your body a break from the usual intake of food or water — allowing your system to reset itself.
Intermittent fasting has gained in popularity in recent years as it helps lose weight — the 5:2 diet is similar to the Prophetic traditions of fasting twice a week.
Even amongst athletes, it's believed to promote fat loss and muscle gain. And fasting in Ramadan produces similar health benefits.

The Practice of Fasting
Some studies suggest that fasting may protect against and improve Parkinson's and Alzheimer's patients' outcomes and improve brain function by supporting memory and brain processing.
And this isn't just limited to humans. Similarly, animal studies suggest fasting may protect brain health and increase the generation of nerve cells.
The practice of fasting dates back centuries and is seen as one of the oldest therapies in medicine. In the 5th century BC, Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, recommended abstaining from food to aid the healing process.
Of course, some people can be exempt from fasting — especially if is detrimental to their health.
Those who are ill can be excused from the duty, as are people who are travelling and women who are pregnant, menstruating or breastfeeding.
Those who have a pre-existing medical condition or are on medication should speak to their GP or healthcare professional before they attempt to fast.

🔥 🫗 fire cider (the go-to flu season herbal immune system support = infused vinegar; oxymel) 🫗🔥 food-centric herbalism
Take as: a daily spoonful illness preventative, salad dressing base, hot sauce...and also doubles as a digestive aid for those with weak stomach acid!
Herbs to Use in Fire Cider: ginger, garlic, horseradish, thyme, rosemary, hot peppers, onion, turmeric, lemon, orange, lime, cloves, stinging nettles, sage, cranberries, mint, sage, rosehips, elderberries, cinnamon, rosemary, radish, red clover, oregano, mugwort, black pepper, etc. (Select whatever pungent, spicy, mineral rich, or antimicrobial herbs you wish)
Made with vinegar as the base & menstruum. Raw apple cider vinegar is by far the most popular choice of vinegar for this medicinal preparation.
Sometimes sweetened with unrefined sweetener. Honey and maple syrup are great choices.

technically the contract for my new internship (signed & submitted, but i haven't actually started yet or turned in my payment info or anything) states that i'm supposed to start on monday. so strictly speaking i haven't lost hours on the job due to being sick this week, i guess. but in communication it was agreed that i would start this past monday for a lighter possibly part-time week of mostly onboarding and getting-to-know-the-office type work. which obviously i've missed due to hacking my lungs out in my house for the past eight days...it's not the end of the world for me to start next week, my boss is totally fine with it and wants me to be okay before starting, and it's not like i will have missed anything terribly important like a performance or something. and missing one week's worth of a paycheck is not going to ruin me financially, thankfully. but still, y'know, disappointed to have lost a week of productivity, especially in such a lucrative (job experience wise not necessarily money wise. but the money isn't terrible either.) internship i'm super lucky to have gotten in the first place. very much looking forward to finally starting on monday and putting this shit behind me

Sooo uh managed first day of work. Weirdly was super super super calm and mellow. My anxiety kept to minimal levels which was new. In hindsight that should have worried me why my nervous system is so chill 😬
But uh why do I have a resting heartbeat of 114bpm rn and a fever of 38,5°C like wtf 🤬
Either I got sick during travelling
Either I caught already the next work virus
Either I have a tooth issue
Or idk just chronically ill and I borrowed spoons from tomorrow and over tomorrow and now I’m already burned out 😭 That would suck balls so badly >:((
Fucking hate this body. I really didn’t appreciate enough my time when I was still ablebodied enough to sprint and run around and tumble around like a dry light wheat barrel from the Sahara 🫣😭
Is it bcs if my vacation my nervous system unmasking and now it has to scramble back into masking and "forgot" how that skill works and skill regressed? :((
I don’t wanna have to go to the whole ordeal to get sick leave again pls universe don’t make me do this pleaseeeee 😭

adding to dav potentially deconstructing, I feel like Bethany mentioned a while ago that they were going to a Lutheran church and that it was Davs idea.
Oh interesting. Well, now I'm invested in the possible deconstruction arc of Dæv Beal I guess.

one of my biggest criticisms with the way the Talimance is portrayed is that the game makes no explicit indication that Shepard....does anything or make any "real" sacrifices when it comes to having sex with a quarian. Tali juices herself up with every herb, ointment, injection, cybernetic installation and medication in the galaxy to try to avoid literally dying and Shepard is out here like a germ goblin not even showering beforehand.

hey so to save me a little research time does anyone want to point me in the direction of some quality immune system support supplements? I had covid at the end of last year and between that and the mountain of stress in my life presently I seem to be really susceptible to underlying illnesses, and I’m hoping if I do something good for my immune system then maybe once this current infection goes away maybe it’ll stay gone this time
