Genuinely do not understand why non transmascs have so much fucking audacity to speak on OUR experiences as if youve lived them. NO the ONE transmasc friend you have doesnt give you authority to speak on our lived experiences. Especially if theyre white. I keep seeing this phenomenon where someone will say something objectively untrue to generalize the experiences of trans men and mascs and then back it up with the experience and of their one white trans friend and then completely ignore the experience of DOZENS of transmascs in the replies. If youre arguing about any supposed ā€œprivilegeā€ we have and you prop up the two white self-identified ā€˜TME’s’ who chimed in to agree with you while simultaneously ignoring dozens to HUNDREDS of other transmascs (ESPECIALLY tmoc) trying to tell you about their experiences… idk how to tell you that youre just a racist bigot.

do you realize how silly people online look when they crawl into a stranger's DM's and say shit like "youre the whitest person i've ever seen" and then i literally look like this IRL. you have such a narrow view into strangers' lives online, it's ridiculous
anyway, mixed people can be light skinned for a number of reasons, it's not all about skin tone, but anyway i have brown skin, i don't know where people are looking but it's not me or my body

hi friends, i’m stepping outta my comfort zone and giving that whole ā€œbeing vulnerable and asking for helpā€ thing a shot. full transparency: i don’t feel great about asking for donations; i really didn’t want to. but it’s been a long time since top surgery seemed like a feasible possibility and it would literally change my life. even if you can’t donate directly, a share can be just as valuable and would mean just as much. ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

Ramy is....the best depiction of being a (straight) man of color in America that I've ever seen, really.
I can't really describe it. If you have Hulu, or a cooler, more illegal streaming service of choice, just trust me and watch it. The narrative of being a first gen immigrant brown + Muslim dude are the core of the show and you really can't remove it from anything else that happens to Ramy as a result, and it's because of this I think it's so fucking powerful and effective. I'm a (straight) black guy which is a pretty different experience than being an immigrant of any sexuality, and therefore gives me an outlook that isn't really capable of doing the narrative the full justice it deserves. But I am still a (straight) man of color, so, y'kno, there's still a shit ton of resonance in a way I wasn't expecting. and I still cried a lot while watching this show.
So you just have to watch and see for yourself. If you wanna understand what the fuck I'm talking about on this blog at any given time, and don't wanna read a bunch of shit, I recommend starting with Ramy. It's written and directed in a way that only a man from the culture that's being portrayed can write and direct. Just go fucking watch it.

8. What fic* meant the most to you to write?
definitely the memory of collapse. it's a part of a larger set of projects called grief thesis that thematically surround several losses i experienced over the period of about a year in 2023, focusing on the physical manifestation of grief (in the body, in the environment, in technology, etc). for those of you who are unaware, here's the synopsis: a man named darren sets intentional fires throughout the summer to kill colonies of fungal-infected humans. when he burns a peach orchard while doing so, the consequences of his destruction find him.
about a year and a half ago a friendship ended w a close friend bc of the extensive harm he caused me. six months after, i was assaulted by my ex. the memory of collapse explores the experience of grieving someone who has caused you harm, and the setting uses environmental horror and fungi as a means to explore the tragedy of human connection and destructive grief. in particular, fire is used to conceptualize the catharsis of grief that can be self-destructive and ruinous or a renewal, an opportunity for connection.
it means a lot to me for several reasons. ofc there's the subject matter; it's been very meditative for me to come to terms with what's happened. artistically, it's the most ambitious, technique-advanced project i've embarked on. the style calls back to 1900s sci fi esp ray bradbury and uses a lot of poetic concepts. it also uses a braided narrative structure that combines two separate stories at once to express the presence, the weight, of the past in the present. i've def grown as a writer while working on it.
14. What were your go-to writing songs?
this is a hard one because it depends on the wip. i can name some songs/genres that have inspired the tone of each of my wips; here's some for the memory of collapse.
there's several songs but lorn, an electronic musician, has this sort of post-collapse, desolate, longing vibe that bridges the memory of collapse with pahimakas (they're set in the same universe). drink before the war by sinƩad o'connor has also been a big inspo, for that combination of anguish, agony, and accusation in the song:
And you live in a shell, you create your own hell You live in the past and talk about war And you dig your own grave, yeah, but it's a life you can save, oh So stop getting fussed, it's not gonna happen And you'll cry, but you'll never fall, no, no, no, you're building a wall Gotta break it down, start again
18. Share your favorite ending line
this one is actually from pahimakas, set in that fungal-horror environment described above. interaction at the end of a chapter between two main characters that haunts me fr
ā€œYou are lucky, lucky--ā€ Laiqa hissed, wrenching the rifle from his hands, ā€œ--that you’ve never had to pull the trigger." She left him with the body of the infected. Its orange-brown hyphae crept along the tiled floor, searching the cracks in the ceramic for anything still alive.
*refers to original fiction for me </3 god i wish i was still in a fandom

Twas the 22nd Day of Holiday Viewing...
I revisited another Rankin/Bass classic that used to air a lot and only in recent years has been seen on AMC, the Cartoon Network and now BBC America. Twas The Night Before Christmas (1974) ā€œTwas The Night Before Christmasā€ is based on the poem written by Clement Moore in the 19th century. Most people know it or parts of it or phrases from it, such as ā€œvisions of sugarplums dance in their…

The way some of yall talk about 'white tboys' is insane. Like I know white privilege exists obviously but some of yall have started claiming that the KKK, nazis, proud boys, maga, the entire history of racism, transmisogyny, pedophilia and whatever else was done by 'white tboys'. Like not cis white people. Not white people in general. Just specifically 'white tboys'.
I'm starting to think its not about the whiteness.

Friday the 13th
I could have watched the Original Recipe Friday the 13th movie Franchise or the Friday The 13th TV series (which I bet has a holiday episode), but I decided to watch the Grinch again. I enjoyed livetweeting this version.Ā  I really can’t get into the live action version that starred Jim Carrey. Or the other CGI version. My main bone of contention with them continue to be that I really don’t need…

between savings and donations i’m at 35%!
doing my best to avoid buying textbooks this semester and put as much school money away as possible and saving where i can. if you’re able to donate a couple bucks, it would mean the world to me. even if you can’t, simply reblogging this for visibility is just as valuable.
going on five months now without access to my hormones and desperately trying to stay afloat. the thought of this surgery is keeping me going. ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹
