Why should society feel responsible only for the education of children, and not for the education of all adults of every age?

Durge: Shadowheart, Lae'zel, Karlach and I are going to scout the gith creche. So I need the three of you- Astarion! Are you even listening?
Astarion: Hmm? Oh yes, darling, I'm very invested in this conversation. *Not invested at all.*
Durge: I need the three of you to please, pretty please, act like sane functional members of society and not blow anything up while we're gone.
*Astarion, Gale and Wyll all side-eye one another.*
Durge: Including Gale.
Karlach: Come on, soldier, we're all adults here. Let's go.
Durge: *As they head off in the direction of the creche.* That's what worries me. At least all the children we've met have had the decency to get in trouble while we were around.
*Several hours later, the scouting party returns to camp, welcomed by chants of "Eat it! Eat it!" as Gale holds a very expensive looking enchanted greatsword while Astarion and Wyll egg him on.*
Durge: What did I say?
Astarion: You said not to blow Gale up, and this is the opposite of blowing Gale up.
Karlach: *To Durge.* I see your point.
Durge: I'm going to find Mol and ask her how much she charges for babysitting.

One thought I can’t get out of my head with regards to the mock trial in Interview with the Vampire 2.7, the trial Claudia so aptly calls a stoning, is this quote by Terry Pratchett in “Small Gods”:
“I know about sureness,' said Didactylos. 'I remember, before I was blind, I went to Omnia once. And in your Citadel I saw a crowd stoning a man to death in a pit. Ever seen that?'
'It has to be done,' Brutha mumbled. 'So the soul can be shriven and-'
'Don't know about the soul. Never been that kind of philosopher,' said Didactylos. 'All I know is, it was a horrible sight.'
'The state of the body is not-'
'Oh, I'm not talking about the poor bugger in the pit,' said the philosopher. 'I'm talking about the people throwing the stones. They were sure all right. They were sure it wasn't them in the pit. You could see it in their faces. So glad it wan't them in the pit that they were throwing just as hard as they could.”
If I was any sort of gif maker this is where I’d include all the gifs of the audience hungry for blood, the vampires hungry for cruelty. I’d include the scene of Santiago saying his maker was buried in the walls of the Theatre for violating the laws.
But fledglings are usually made out of love, twisted as it may be. Which means Santiago’s maker probably loved him. Santiago may have loved his maker back. But his maker broke the laws and so they are in the walls now.
So I can’t help but wonder if Santiago’s fervor during the trial was for exactly the reason in the quote: so long as it is Claudia and Madeleine and Louis being stoned, so long as he is the judge, it means it’s not him. If his earliest introduction to vampirism was watching his own maker’s trial and stoning then he’d be all the more certain he doesn’t want it to be him on trial.
And I think it is a broader cautionary too to the modern audience. Be careful when you feel the blood lust to tear someone else down. Listen to the voice of fear inside you, asking if you really hate them or if you’re just glad it’s not you. Remember that there’s a reason that a sane society does away with stonings and mob justice, because of that fear that it could be you next, because you can’t really know if the accused is really guilty, or if it all a pantomime to distract from the crimes of their accusers.

"Thanks goodness I've met a sane and righteous person who still remembers the traditional values of the vampire society" (the values in question: kissing complete strangers with tongue and teeth if they seem nice). Good for them though. Good for them! Must be nice to meet a person who shares your ideas of what should or shouldn't be done between men who know each other for, like, five minutes.
Tumblr media
Jokes aside, you know what I find an amazing part of Anne Rice's universe? Blood is everything for vampires, therefore blood sharing can mean so many different things depending on the context, and sometimes these contexts are inevitably mixed up. I mean, sharing blood is the vampire sex, yes. At the same time, you can share blood to feed the hungry, to help an injured one heal, to give a younger one an upgrade. Blood also transfers information – you can share something through the blood. You can also drain someone during a fight, or someone may drain you, and this is not a sexual thing, except sometimes it might be that, too (lesmand).
Like, when Marius found Lestat in Cairo, he gave him blood, that was literally the first thing he did. And of course, he only meant to help the suffering, starved creature to recover. Of course! Except Lestat had an obvious crush on Marius and spammed him with numerous letters for ten years and the first thing Maruis did when they met was sharing blood which is also the vampire equivalent for sex? I'll never fully recover from this fact. I'll never ever ever be normal about this.
However, the thing that happened between Marius and Thorne is even more mind-blowing. I mean, when someone invites you to stay at his place, sharing blood with this person may seem a polite thing to do? Taste my blood, read my mind, sense my intentions through the blood, make sure I mean no harm. A lot of human customs are based on the same concept - you demonstrate that your arms hold no weapons or the food/drinks offered to a guest have no poison in them. And actually showing your good intentions to someone you just met is a custom which makes a lot of sense when you were raised in a violent time and culture. Except Thorne's comment makes me think that something else probably happened there? “Now we can't quarrel over any small thing”. This feels like some ritual saying, and many rituals of men becoming sworn brothers include mixing blood. And, though offering something like this to a man you barely know seems rather crazy, I think this probably happened? Like, Thorne, you immediately imprinted on a guy who simply offered you shelter and company for a while, what's even wrong with you? But then I remember how crazy some of the stories of men becoming sworn brothers in myths and folk tales actually are, and Thorne walked into the story straight from the age of myths, so yes, this probably happened. (Thanks goodness he met Marius and not some jerk who would, you know, take advantage.) And yes, blood sharing is also vampire sex, and this makes the whole thing even better.
And then think about the time when Maruis was taking care of Daniel, and Daniel was obviously unwell, and giving him ancient blood to help him heal was probably an obvious thing to try... except blood sharing is also vampire sex and at some point the contexts might have been mixed here, too.
(The last line of the quote... 🙈🙉🙊 I'd rather say nothing.)

The October 7 attack and its aftermath have finally brought the disparate elements of this struggle against Jews to the surface, its participants surging into the streets and onto social media—suggesting that Hamas knew something important about the world that many of us didn’t see, or didn’t want to.
When I was a reporter for an international news agency at the time of the Hamas takeover in Gaza in 2007,  I discovered that it was impolitic to mention what Hamas clearly announced in its founding charter from 1988: Namely, that “our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious,” and the Jews were “behind the French Revolution, the Communist revolution and most of the revolutions we heard and hear about, here and there. With their money they formed secret societies, such as Freemasons, Rotary Clubs, the Lions, and others in different parts of the world for the purpose of sabotaging societies and achieving Zionist interests.”
This didn’t sound like “Free Palestine.” But as a rule, on the rare occasions that Western news organizations felt compelled to mention the document, they left those parts out.
The historical examples from the charter suggest that in the war against Judaism, the ideologues of Hamas understand themselves to be operating in a broad coalition and carrying on a long tradition. This is true. “Islam and National Socialism are close to each other in the struggle against Judaism, Hajj Amin al-Husseini, the mufti of Jerusalem and one of the fathers of the Palestinian national movement, said in 1944. This was in a speech to members of an SS division he helped raise, made up of Bosnian Muslims. “Nearly a third of the Qur’an deals with the Jews. It has demanded that all Muslims watch the Jews and fight them wherever they find them,” he said, an idea that would reappear four decades later in the Hamas charter. When the mufti testified before a British commission of inquiry in 1936, he quoted The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the Tsarist forgery describing a global Jewish conspiracy, which is also the source for parts of the Hamas charter and remains popular across the Middle East. (I once found the book for sale at a good shop near the American University of Beirut.) The Hamas army, known as the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, is named for one of the mufti’s most famous proteges.
The movement became savvy enough to water down its charter a few years ago, but its leaders have remained honest about their intent. “You have Jews everywhere,” one former Hamas minister, Fathi Hammad, shouted to a crowd in 2019, “and we must attack every Jew on the globe by way of slaughter and killing, with God’s will.”
In the liberal West, no sane person would own up to believing The Protocols. (At least not yet; things are moving fast.) But an Italian can hold a prominent U.N. job, for example, after saying she believes a “Jewish lobby” controls America, and you can hold a tenured position at the best universities in the West if you believe that the only country on earth that must be eliminated is the Jewish one.
My experience in the Western press corps was that sympathy for Hamas was not just real but often more substantial than sympathy for Jews. In Europe and North America, as we’ve now seen on the streets and on campuses, many on the progressive left have arrived at an ideology positing that one of the world’s most pressing problems is the State of Israel—a country that has come to be seen as the embodiment of the evils of the racist, capitalist West, if not as the world’s only “apartheid” state, that being a modern synonym for evil.
Jews could no longer officially be hated because of their ethnicity or religion, but can legitimately be hated as supporters of “apartheid” and as the embodiment of “privilege.” The pretense that this is a critique of Israel’s military tactics, or sincere desire for a two-state solution, has now largely been dropped.

i reimagined some of the lord of the flies boys as genshin impact characters! here’s a little analysis of their designs and such
ralph- hydro 4star catalyst. hydro characters are often seen as confident with a strong sense of justice and strong morality, but use that to mask their insecurities. i think this is perfect for ralph because of his leadership skills and abilities to stay sane. he is a catalyst with a conch on the front to represent the conch. his catchphrase, charge phrase, element phrase, hurt phrase and idle phrase are all taken as quotes from the book. his physical and element attacks are based around the conch while his charge is based off of his leadership
simon- electro 5star bow. electro characters are seen as outcasts who live in the clouds and therefore are rejected from society. this is perfect for simon, as that is exactly what happened to him. he was seen as odd and air-headed but is a sweet, protective soul. he has a bow because i think he wouldn’t want to get too close to his opponent when in a battle. his catchphrase is inspired by how the boys describe him. his idle phrase if taken straight from the book. his hurt phrase is to mimic how he tried to protect himself when hunted but he boys, or when getting hurt. the charge and element phrase are because they fit his personality.
jack- pyro 5star polearm. pyro characters are passionate, impulsive quick thinkers and are natural leaders with a commanding presence. this works well for jack because not only does it contrast ralph’s vision (whom is his rival) it matches his personality and resembles his list for fire and destruction. he got a polearm to represent his spear and authority. his catchphrase, charge phrase, hurt phrase, and element dialogue are all taken straight from the book. his physical attack references his spear, the element attack is a tribute to his love for hunting (think “kill the pig! slit her throat! spill her blood!”) and the charge is in honor of jacks love for fire

When it comes to twincest and their relationship, Jaime Lannister is the victim. Cersei Lannister is an abuser. Mutual abuse doesn’t exist.
I had both a tumblr interaction and I saw a Reddit post on r/asoiaf mainly talking about the sane thing. How Jaime was toxic to Cersei and that the relationship was mutually abusive. In the Reddit post specifically, they talk about how Jaime r*aped Cersei by coercion because of an specific quote of hers where she thinks of him (with a smile) when another character mentions a situation where she felt like she couldn’t say no and asks Cersei if she ever lived the same.
So I decided to write this down because much like @ginmo did once, it’s absolutely infuriating that in the year of 2023, we have such a hard time identifying a male victim of abuse.
I’m gonna use the old “reverse the genders” argument here because unlike most cases, I think this is one of the rare situations where it can be applied, because even though Jaime and Cersei live in a very patriarchal society and he is a man, he is in a rare position where he doesn’t hold power over her in terms of their social hierarchy and overall relationship dynamic. Thats not to say that a man can’t be a victim of abuse even in a patriarchal society where the social structure favors him to be the one in power. Because while misogyny and male privilege is often tied with domestic violence, and used as tools to abuse female victims, they aren’t necessarily fundamental for abuse to happen. And reversing the roles in this particular situation is interesting because it shows how much gender bias blinds people to the obviousness of their dynamic. As if a veil is lifted and you see what would be so easily identified if Jaime had been a woman and Cersei, a man. So let’s do that, lets reverse their roles.
Here are the Lannister twins. From an early age, they engaged in sexual interactions. One of the twins, the boy, from an early age impressed upon the other twin, the girl, that they belong together, are one soul in two bodies, they were born together so they will die together, that they are soulmates and actually one person. The girl of course, buys into all of that. This same twin, the boy, from an early age shows not only a dominant personality but also actions that speak of a flawed character. This twin brother sexually/physically assaulted their other sibling once for example (by twisting his penis when he was a baby). This twin brother, by age 12, murders his best friend because said best friend showed an interest in his twin sister. This twin brother seduces and manipulates his twin sister by spending an entire night having sex with his sister for the first time when they are teens, not allowing her to sleep properly the entire night so they have sex, while talking about how they will be separated forever if the twin sister doesn’t accept what he’s proposing, that is a small price to pay and his twin sister needs to agree in giving up her birthright so she can take a role where she will lose everything she was supposed to become (a mother, a wife and the lady of her house) so she can stay beside him forever in court. Like that, the twin sister will only ever be with him, no one else. All of that while the twin brother had always intended on actually marrying someone else, someone this twin brother has actually desired his entire life since he was young, even though said twin brother couldn’t stand the thought of someone wanting his twin sister (again, murdered his best friend because of that). And the only reason the twin brother didn’t marry the one he wanted was because they died. And in this whole scenario, the twin sister has no idea about these thoughts and feelings of his twin brother, she truly believes they are soulmates and love each other in a way they can’t be apart, she fully believes in everything her twin brother has said about them being one soul in two bodies etc etc.
The years pass, they carry on with their affair, the twin brother withholds and uses sex/affection as punishment/reward against his twin sister, establishes a dynamic where it must be always the twin sister coming to him, he will never do the same, actually gets off on the idea of his twin sister being so irresistibly attracted to him that she can’t take no for an answer and liked the power play this gives him. The twin brother was also frequently physically abusive towards the twin sisters, which she was used to and managed to diffuse the situation by turning the slaps she received into them having sex. Later in the story, when both twins have committed horrible horrible crimes for each other, with the twin sister going as far as almost killing a child to protect the twin brother, among other terrible stuff, the twin sister starts to show some personal growth after going through some hard times and becoming disabled. The twin brother insults the twin sister physically and verbally, and often actually assaults her physically by slapping her when she doesn’t agree with him or accepts doing something for him. The twin sister then finds out that the twin brother has actually lied to her, he has slept with other people many times even though he didn’t actually need it (he had other ways of making those people do his biding because of the position he holds in their social hierarchy), but he has done that anyway and lied to his twin sister about it, pretending that outside of a marriage he was forced to enter he had never been with anyone else outside his twin sister.
Are you gonna tell me this is a relationship where both parties hold equal power? Are you gonna tell me the twin sister is as much at fault as the twin brother? Because whoever says yes is absolutely lying, don’t even bother. And if you are honest with yourself and recognizes that no, you don’t think that and actually sees how the twin sister is clearly being abused, how is that different then when you reverse them to their original genders? Because I haven’t added anything there that is not present in their canon relationship. Notice I have addressed the privileges/lack of that come with their respective positions (the twin sister inheriting her house seat/ the twin brother forced into a marriage he doesn’t want). That the twin sister is often the one seeking the twin brother and not accepting a no from the twin brother. So if you can see this relationship for what it is when the genders are switched, how can you not do the same for a male victim?
Now something else to consider: There’s a big difference between toxic relationships vs abusive relationships. And a difference between a toxic person vs an abusive one. Not all toxic relationships are abusive; however, all abusive relationships can be considered toxic. In a toxic relationship, there is usually a lack of respect and a violation of boundaries. But this behavior occurs without the person or people involved even realizing they're doing it. They normalized it. They aren’t trying to control their partner.
Usually, every victim in an abusive relationship is a toxic person. Tbh, is almost impossible to survive an abusive relationship without becoming toxic yourself and engaging in toxic behavior. But that doesn’t mean the person is abusive, because a key element is missing: they aren’t intentionally doing that to exert control over the other party in the relationship.
All of this is to say: I honestly cannot understand how people have such a hard time understanding that, within the dynamics of Cersei and Jaime, she is the abuser. Mutual abuse doesn’t exist. Abuse is about an imbalance of power and control.
They are both incredible toxic people, there’s no denying that. Possessive, jealous, engaged in some dubious sexual dynamic, violent… all of this. But only one of them tries to exert control over the other. Only one of them intentionally tries to dictate how the other should behave and intentionally harm the other when they don’t conform to what they want. Only one of them displays a pattern of behaviors used to gain or maintain power and control.
This is not to say Jaime is a wonderful angel who has never done anything wrong in his life. Is just to say that, within his relationship with Cersei, Jaime is the victim. He’s just not a perfect one.
So, no, I don’t think Jaime r*ped Cersei by coercing her into sex because their pre established dynamic within their relationship is so incredibly disturbing and toxic that Jaime coming to her, asking and begging and ultimately not accepting being denied is actually something that Cersei likes, and is used as a power play where she can exert control and dominate him. No, I don’t think Jaime and Cersei are mutually abusive because this doesn’t exist and even if it did, he is not the one trying to exert control towards her.
Jaime Lannister is a toxic person. Jaime Lannister is a victim of abuse. Cersei Lannister is an abuser. Period.

there is no character who's given me as many conflicted feelings as he does, i can't tell if i absolutely hate his guts or adore him helplessly, one side is coming from the fact i love tony stark, and steve rogers is an absolute cunt for the way he's treated him at times (which some instances are understandable, but i still hold civil war against him) and then theres the version of him that i hold so close to my heart, excluding his confident demeanor and severe savior (guilt?) complex, he is still the man who couldnt help himself and risk his life for everybody else, the man who was pushed into a situation so life changing, experiencing the quite literal horrors of the world and humanity, both pre and post serum, he lived a rough life, especially with the timeline he lived in originally, and then the entire ordeal with bucky, the horrifying realization what's happened to one of the closest people in his life, what he's become, and the fact he's alive. (not that he ever got the chance to mourn anyways)
and thats not to talk about how his life was ultimately changed completely within such a small time frame for him, prior the modern years, living through a whole different world, about to sacrifice his life to mankind, then he wakes up 70 years later, the love of his life has aged in a way he didn't get the chance too, the world has became something completely separate to the timeline he lived in, he has to learn new social customs, new ways to adapt to how society exists, how is he meant to grieve or mourn through any of this at all? he had absolutely no time, he was consistently put into the highest of stress situations.
i hate how civil war went down, he gave away his life he had began building, of course there were multiple different ways to act and he definitely did not choose the right one, but i'll give the smallest inch of credit and say i'm not sure how i'd act either if i found my best friend (who was supposedly dead, now a deadly assassin) was back in the limelight for the worst reason possible, one that was causing the entire world to hate him, but not only that - his identity of actually still being alive is now public for the entire world to see, even if the man they saw hadn't actually been him.
i can't say i would have taken his side as confidently so brashly, almost killing a person you could almost consider a close friend in defense when they just found your supposedly dead (now assassin) bestfriend is at fault for who killed his parents, tony acting irrationally was rather reasonable, i'd understand bucky defending himself, steve through? i'd say its different, maybe?
he's also rather arrogant in same situations, especially in 'the avengers' when he says 'Big man in a suit of armor, take that away and what are you?' as if tony wasn't the genius behind making every little detail in the suit, constructing it all single handedly, and the prototype that had been created in a very spontaneous manner which still worked miraculously better than any person managed to create in a much larger time frame, and a much less stressful situation.
i cant pretend and believe that steve must know this information of course, they seemed like they had been roughly introduced to eachother, but also to make such a claim against somebody like him who's father was also an insanely credible genius, he should have given him at least some benefit of the doubt, or actually attempted to learn more about him before going straight for eachothers throats like a bunch of kids.
another part of that quote that irked me was the sacrifice one, i frankly do not understand that part, the entire idea of iron-man is one big ol' self sacrifice, there is no safe (or really sane) way to make a machine like that and go into conflict way too big for one person to overtake, he's almost died multiple times for the sake of helping society, the idea of getting his information right isn't even the biggest issue, its that i just genuinely dont understand why he keeps spouting out things with absolutely no context? he says he see's the videos, but its a little hypocritical steve rogers of all people is letting other people define who tony stark is when he lived his entire life being defined what society deems of him just by a single glance, unless of course he just saw one random iron-man video of the stark expo performance with the girls. (which god, i cringed at myself.. why tony, why)
still to act as confident as he did, i would have assumed he attempted to well.. learn more about the guy. i genuinely think this part itself is a poor writing issue though, it felt weirdly out of character, but i can understand it from a certain viewpoint i guess.
once more, another point i wanted to make this time was somewhat against tony's actual response to what steve said, of course in a way hes completely correct where "everything about him came out of a bottle", in a physical sense, but steves over eager need to help was always very evident, his courage in place since the dawn of the world. although, he realistically would likely have never been able to become the man he is without the serum, so well technically theres not much to fight back there, but the serum could have distinctively (and quite literally has) gone to the wrong hands, i'm not sure if i should be applauding him for having morals, but at last, its difficult to say how anybody would react to such a life altering experience, and not really even getting the chance to understand whats happening, or how it works.
i've likely gotten off track, but point is i think he's a very flawed character, but at the same time still one of the kindest people with a heart made out of gold, albeit a bit of a blockhead at times, he truly tries, and he was frankly put in a very unfair position, no matter what he signed up for, there was no world it could have possibly entailed what he's gone through so far, even if he doesn't regret it, or would do it a hundred times more.
anyways, i hate him and love him all the same, and still very strongly hate his ending in endgame (as a total writing issue, i cannot possibly blame the character).
thank you for reading this ramble, so sorry if this upset you, or if i actually got any of the lore wrong, do correct me if i have!

Utterson Quotes
Because apparently the only way I'll revise english is by posting about it on tumblr. (If you know any more, PLEASE add them in replies or reblogs)
He is "austere with himself" (chapter 1) -> this contrasts him with Jekyll/Hyde who is hedonistic and indulges in his worst urges. It links to the theme of repression throughout the novel, with Utterson being an Ideal Victorian Gentleman™️ who doesn't participate in any disreputable activities. This also makes him trustworthy to the victorian readers because it establishes his strict moral code.
"I incline to Cain's heresy- I let my brother go to the devil his own way" (chapter 1) -> once again, portraying Utterson as an Ideal Victorian Gentleman- he doesn't interfere in his friends' lives, nor does he hold it against them. This quote is interesting when compared with "if he shall be Mr Hyde, I shall be Mr Seek" (Chapter 2- I love that quote it's so stupid) because here Utterson is in fact, interfering in his friend's life, by trying to find out the connection between Jekyll and Hyde, possibly suggesting Utterson's repression is beginning to wear thin.
"This document had long been the lawyer's eyesore" (Chapter 2) -> This quote refers to Jekyll's will, stating that if he died or disappeared for more than 3 months, his possessions should all go to Edward Hyde. It further establishes Utterson as a reasonable character, and presents any ideas of the supernatural as puzzling to Utterson, being a "lover of the sane and customary sides of life".
"You know me. I am a man to be trusted. Make a clean breast of this in confidence; and I make no doubt I can get you out of it." (Chapter 3) -> Here Utterson is directly opposing his own views- he is interfering with Jekyll's life, despite saying "I let my brother go to the devil his own way. " It demonstrates Utterson giving in to his urges, and is also an interesting contrast to earlier in the same chapter where he's described as "unobtrusive"- the mystery of Hyde has made him less repressed, because of his curiosity. This could also be Stevenson's way of highlighting hypocrisy in victorian society- which even Utterson, the Perfect Victorian Gent™️ is guilty of. Something to note here is that Utterson uses the phrase "clean breast" again, in chapter 8, when trying to get information from Poole- and both times, he's trying to save Jekyll. Definitely a parallel to be drawn there.
"We three are old friends, Lanyon; we shall not live to make others" (Chapter 6) -> Utterson is attempting to mend the rift between Lanyon and Jekyll, because to him, they represent normality- and after the events with Hyde, Utterson is seeking security. Later in the chapter, after corresponding with Jekyll and finding he is unable to reconcile with Lanyon, we get this quote- "in a moment, friendship, and peace of mind, and the whole tenor of his life were wrecked" which further reinforces Utterson's friendships being signs of security to him (there's also a quote in chapter 1 about his walks with Enfield that show this). There's also a sense that he's still trying to find logic in the puzzle that is Edward Hyde, trying to make sense of the irrational.
"God forgive us, God forgive us." (Chapter 7) -> This is after it is implied Utterson and Enfield saw Jekyll's transformation to Hyde. By not mentioning it, apart from this one line of dialogue, Utterson is continuing to repress his thoughts deemed "unacceptable" i.e. the idea that a supposedly reputable and kind man like Jekyll could hide (hehe) such violent cruelty, like that displayed by Hyde. Once again, this links to Victorian repression, and the hypocrisy of society at the time.
"Mr. Utterson's only answer was to rise and get his hat and great-coat" (Chapter 8) -> This is after Poole has asked him to go to Jekyll's, and here he's completely given up on inclining to Cain's heresy. His curiosity outweighs his moral code, and so he doesn't stop to question anything.
"It doesn't commend itself to reason" (Chapter 8) -> Bless his stupid heart, he's still trying to rationalise Hyde's existence, despite everything. He's still clinging to the last threads of logic, because he truly cannot accept the idea of Jekyll and Hyde being one and the same, even after seeing it himself in chapter 7. Once again, this can link to the hypocrisy of Victorian society, and a refusal to acknowledge the evil mankind is capable of- because that would mean accepting the evil within themselves- in a time where morality and purity was everything.
"I shall consider it my duty to break in that door." (Chapter 8) -> I think... this is the quote that concludes Utterson's arc. We never really see it concluded (which will forever gnaw at my mind) but this is the one that shows his development the most. The austere Utterson of chapter 1 would never even consider breaking down a door to save Jekyll. And yet here, he's releasing some of his repressed urges, and directly interfering with Jekyll's life- not only that, but he considers it his duty. As his friend, or his lawyer, or as a member of society, I'm not sure. This quote can link to the theme of repression once again, and humanity's inner evil- even the strictly repressed Utterson is not immune to his own desires, maybe Stevenson's way of showing no one in society is exempt from innate evil, even those that project a façade of respectability.
That's all the quotes I've got! But like I said at the start, if you can think of any others, and analysis for them, PLEASE let me know. You can tell I got more tired as this post goes on lmao.

Woman of the year!
How weird is it that as we near the years end and awards begin coming out for "such and such" of the year so many :woman of the year" awards are going to men.
Dylan Mulvaney won an award from Attitude Magazine out of the UK as it's "Woman of the year". How low is your opinion of women that you pick a man to be the "Woman of the year"?
Minnesota did it earlier this year when "Leigh" Finke won. This is "Leigh":
Tumblr media
That Frankenstein's monster of a man in bad make-up is a better woman than ALL of the women in Minnesota. Take ALL of the mothers, teachers, doctors, lawyers, bus drivers, assembly line workers, single mothers with two jobs, educators, advocates, waitresses, cooks, janitorial staff etc.
Leigh is a better woman than all of you. Leigh hasn't experienced being a young girl, never had a period or any of the bodily and mind changes that young women go thru. He has two kids, that is Trans widow gave birth too, but he has no idea what motherhood is.
He's still a better woman than the 2.811 million women in Minnesota. THAT is how little the Democrats and the morons who voted this creature in as woman of the year think of you.
I'm not here to talk to about Leigh. Fuck that AGP having psychopath. No, I want to write about my buddy. Dylan Mulvaney. The Non-Trans Transgender identifying man who makes waves everywhere he goes. If toxicity and social poison was a person it would look like Dylan.
The social misfit, drama club overly flaming twink who clocked his "days of being a 'girl'" and got himself a carte blanche visit with Grandpa Joe in the White house and a letter of congratulations from Kamala Harris because they obviously have nothing else to focus on than to celebrate the erasure of women as a sex class in society and law.
I digress.
In his interview with Atituide Magazine Dylan is quoted as saying: “And some people don’t see me as a woman at all. No matter how hard I try, or what I wear, or what I say, or what surgeries I get, I will never reach an acceptable version of womanhood by those hateful people’s standards."
At his age I'm lost as to why he doesn't understand that sex isn't an attitude, a feeling, a performance, a costume, or body parts repurposed or purchased à la carte — and that it can't be changed — and my stating so doesn't make me hateful, just sane and tethered to reality. At best, #dylanmulvaney is a vacuous narcissist and a shameless grifter. At worst, he's a bought-and-paid-for Gender Industry shill, knowingly helping to obliterate sex classes and sex-based rights. Either way, he's entirely undeserving of awards or accolades, except maybe the Most Heinous Piece of Shit Award, for which he should receive a statuette of himself sculpted from monkey feces, and a one-way trip to the moon. Just get that piece of garbage off my planet.
Dylan will always talk about the challenge of his being seen as a woman. He'll do it because Dylan is an actor who is getting rich pretending to be a man pretending to be a woman. But that's what he is: A man pretending to be a man pretending to be a woman.
WOMAN OF THE YEAR: DYLAN MULVANEY
Tumblr media
I expect to get a lot of push back for my language and the subject matter but once again I want to write. If you get offended or angry I want you to know that with each cell in my body I don't give a baboons red ass what you think. Stop erasing and endangering women and transing kids you fuckin ghouls. Don't lie it? Cope, seethe and dilate.
