The moment he stepped into his apartment, water met his feet, and Dick held back a suffering groan. His apartment was flooded.

He is sore, tired, and just wanted to lay down. Sleep.

Plans changed, apparently, looking at the water. Taking measured breaths, he makes his way to his small bedroom, taking out all his vigilante stuff and packed them in a bag, thankfully dry. It was annoying, but what could he do?

Certainly not go back to the mansion.

With everything stored away, the bag was slightly overpacked, it didn't dether him as he returned to the hallway just as his landlord came. Others were already outside complaining about their own flats and Dick left for now, he would... handle this after he got rest.

Dick doesn't ponder long on who to call, not really. Jason is out of question, Bruce isn't even considered.

He didn't want to leave Bludhaven... which meant there really was only one option.

"Hey Danny? My flat got flooded, could I...—"

"I didn't even finish asking—"

"What—"

"Danny, I'll be over in... 10, thank you, really."

His coworker had an enthusiastic response to his request, Dick felt unbearably fond of it. Him.

The thing is, Dick figured it out pretty quickly when he started working in Bludhaven, that Danny was genuine in his business.

Not corrupted, not bought, not fake.

It made him a big target in the city. One that Officer Grayson and Nightwing made sure to protect. He, admittedly, admired the man at the police station quite a bit.

I know i’ve said it before. But this discourse about the ethics regarding taylor swift being a billionaire are so disingenuous. She doesn’t have a makeup line, clothing line, brand endorsements.

The bulk of her income is entirely from her own talent as a musician. She has not exploited anyone. She’s also not even close to being a cash billionaire when you look at the numbers it’s like half of that ( bc it’s hard to become a billionaire without shady shit) . Taylor is known to pay her employees well. By percentage what she gives away to charity and compensates her team with is unheard of. She gave 10% of her net worth away in bonuses to everyone who worked on her tour. That’s just what we know of.

I’m not even saying this as a fan, but you cannot look at someone like her and how she moves and compare that to other billionaires and oligarchs.

I’m all for wealthy people paying their fair share. I hate capitalism and the current system but I do think she’s a good example of doing the best to be ethical within the current system

I'm only just now looking at Batman and Robin: Year One, and right off the bat, I noticed Waid has already made a connection to his writing from Batman vs. Robin #3.

In Batman vs. Robin, Dick, while under a possession that made him air his deepest grievances, berated Bruce for taking him away from the joy and recognition he got as a performer in the circus, and instead of getting to continue that experience, Dick Grayson was hidden behind a mask.

John and Nikolai head to a pub on Valentine's Day. Restaurants are flooded and they just want to enjoy eachother's company, no dressing up unreasonably fancy or eating something overpriced.

Nikolai gets John a new band for his watch, it's all the other man wanted and it's useful to him.

John gets Nikolai's old, worn boots repaired because the soles are sepearting from the leather. Nikolai hadn't wanted new shoes, nor had he intended to chuck his favourite pair of boots.

They drink more than they usually would and finish off a pack of cigs before they get home. Their night ends with tipsy, sleepy sex and there's something sickeningly sweet about it.

i hate the trope of a straight couple, usually teenagers, where the guy is about to meet the girl's parents, and her dad is the weirdly overprotective kind.

it's supposed to be endearing but it just comes off as controlling and not trusting his daughter's judgement, and also bullying a teen boy for no reason.
