Shaun: They hovered over London for a day so he could study all the best shortcuts for his Taxi routes. 14 has had to say no to going back to watch Rose being born again, too dangerous for the timelines.

Donna: Shopping, mostly. She's too dedicated to his rest to let him take her anywhere else, plus it's far quicker to get the bigger hauls home in the TARDIS than the TAXI.

Sylvia: She detests travelling in the TARDIS, but they shared a special moment watching from a distance when 10 asked a certain kind man for a pound coin.

Mel: 14 takes her for the occational grand date, because she's worth every extravagant trip, but also to make up for all the time she missed being on Earth.

TARDIS: They visit a nice outcropping of rocks every do often. 14 leaves the door open so the last light of the day can hit the console as they watch together.

He used to watch Doctor Who with his grandmother.

Idolising Smith-as-the-Doctor turned out to be very useful for playing Aemond, who idolises Smith-as-Daemon.

It is, admittedly, a complicated relationship: Aemond imitates, reveres and despises his uncle.

“I thought there was something interesting in never taking Matt off that podium.”

“I just kept him there, from where I saw him as a kid.”

He found it so interesting, in fact, that he spoke to showrunner Condal and proposed avoiding Smith on set so that the they would only ever interact in character. Smith was up for it.

There is a resemblance between the actors, something noted by his grandmother then and by me now.
