I Fear the Future

I've heard about KOSA and the dangers it presents...and I really fear what would happen to the internet if this does get brought into effect.

So many people would not be able to seek safety or comfort and would instead be censored for the sake of "saving the children." This will cause a lot of bad things to happen, and I don't want that to happen at all.

The internet has been a place where I can be me. The real me. The me who doesn't have to hide away and instead just LIVE. The idea of something like this appearing and causing this much calamity sickens me. It truly does.

What sickens me the most is how people want to use it, to stop Queer people and others from getting put and making someone feel...accepted. I will not stand for this. Not one bit. If I have to live in a world where my existence must be censored to keep your status quo, then I will fight tooth and nail to reclaim it.

And now, onto you, I say to do anything. Sign petitions, send letters, protest, post, anything at all. We must not let KOSA kill us. We must not stand for this, as this would allow for even more oppression and even more pain. Please, spread the word, and do anything you can so that we can save the internet...I don't mean that as a hyperbole...

You know something is bad when even your mother knows something can be misused for evil purposes.

As far as I can tell, KOSA seems to ignore the fact that people on the internet want to express their true selves or seek help. They have good intent, but mass surveillance and denial of vital information just... Isn't the way. The internet already has privacy issues, and the US is already a shithole with leaders that don't care about us.

Hell, the US is more focused on aiding Isreal's attack on Gaza rather than helping Gaza survive or... hell, helping their own people! This is weird for an American such as myself to say, but even China's government aimed to stop poverty while being poor is basically illegal in the US, and that says something.

Let that sink in before you read on.

Poor people, being thrown in prison and having their rights removed instead of being helped by the locals or even state officials. All because they can't afford crap.

Fucked up, ain't it?

They don't need to make the problem worse by making the internet basically inaccessible to us Americans. If protecting children is your only real concern atm, look for another way to solve the problem instead of stubbornly pushing to pass the same bill every damn year.

Sure, you gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette, but these aren't the eggs you're meant to crack. Shutting out people of different sexuality, race, religion, or whatever else makes us ourselves for the sake of protecting kids isn't it.

Besides. I don't want to kiss the internet(and everyone I met here) goodbye. I don't want everything I've created and shared so far to be in vain. And I don't want to wake up one say to find out that I need to reveal my own face just to watch Youtube for probably a few minutes.

Nobody does.

Please put an end to KOSA. And while you're at it, look for ways to make the world a better place. Assist the poor and back them up, even.

Tumblr's freaking out over KOSA, the world's a shithole that needs to be fixed(moreso in some areas than others), and I get it. Our own rights are at stake here, and so are the people of Palestine.

So…my school got a bomb threat

everyone is home and okay physically, but the whole process was so mentally tiring and plainly annoying. it was so cold and the fire blankets didn’t really help, and we had to wait outside in the parking lot for two hours. two hours we had to wait. we weren’t allowed back in the school for obvious reasons and it was right after lunch too so everyone in my lunch did not have our phones or any of our school stuff. we dont get it all back until tomorrow and classes obviously were cancelled, but this is the second time in two years that the exact same message has been left in my school, and I live in a relatively safe area.

I dont really know where im going with this, just…im tired of this—the conflicts, the fights, wars, diseases, poverty, the world, really everything. our society is crashing down from beneath us and I cant do anything about it. im just so tired of it all.

You know, it bothers me the way it seems like people have totally forgot about Iranians... thought we were all on the same page, wasn't it... women, life, freedom? (I legit don't remember, but the reason for that is it wasn't my slogan to say. Maybe it sounds strange, but that's how I felt, so I never actually wrote it, which makes it harder to remember)

Just feels like for a brief window there we were all talking big talk about supporting them, but then it all kinda dried up

I'll be totally transparent about one of the reasons this keeps coming up for me, russia is a major ally of Iran, Iran supplies the kamikaze drones russia hits civilians with... you know they're not giving them away for free... I worry what the Iranian government uses anything it gets to do... I don't really hear anything from Iranians anymore (though once again I fully admit that most of what I was hearing was second hand, I never had found an Iranian to directly follow... I don't know if anyone's still talking)

I just... I legit worry that people talk a big game about Gaza right now, but will they in a year?

I'm frustrated because a lot of the support people and causes around the world get seems like it's almost more self masturbatory than anything real... sure, everyone really well and truly means it, but then they get bored and it's on to a new cause

So I worry the support will be fleeting... and I see some people really getting down in the mud in ways... well, I'm not a people keeper, I don't get to tell people what to do, but I wouldn't be very pleased if I was acting the way I see some people act and my real point is I worry they're doing all this shit and they're not even gonna stick it out with the cause... seen people get bored and dip to many times to trust it

I'm not perfect... I have a shit memory a lot of the time, and I got a lot on my mind, but I still remember Hong Kong... at least sometimes... even looked into it from time to time and the news never looks good

I remember the Uyghurs, though my shit spelling always makes me look it back up. I think about Syria and how forgotten they are. I do actually still keep up with Ukraine... and then I see connections between russia and Iran and assad and...

I don't know... this stuff eats a me a little... not a lot, not more than the helplessness we all feel about bad things beyond our control usually does... I just worry about people, how they act with shit

Worry that you roll around in the mud too long it starts getting hard to wash off, and I worry that people sometimes get in the mud less cause they're trying to help anything and more cause sometimes it feels good to have an excuse to get dirty... righteous anger that makes any behavior permissible

I don't talk about current events that are on everyone's radar nonstop cause I don't want to burn support out by just overloading people with horror... but I generally find murdering innocent people to be a bad thing, so yeah... I want to see a fucking ceasefire already
