ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WAS A KNIGHT...

the visual inspiration for this was a combination of Frederic William Burton's Meeting on the Turret Stairs and also Bernardo Cavallino's The vision of St. Dominic receiving the Rosary from the Virgin

this was supposed to be just a one off illustration to get the thoughts out of my system, but then I started thinking about medieval politics and warfare and plagues and a castle and home as both a place of refuge, a prison, and a tomb, so perhaps they will end up as ex voto characters as well.

you may say, hey! that rosary looks like it has too many beads! it's a fifteen decade rosary, probably. dominicans are really into marian devotions. it works out.

also. spiral style stair cases. oh boy. it was that unexpectedly more difficult than I originally thought it would be to draw. the more I think about it, the less I understand them, even though I had a million photos of the stairs in front of me while I was drawing it.

#the economy and my bank account are in shambles and i ended up stress drawing this whole thing in one go #its so many lines. the next time i draw this. because i will be revisiting this composition. i want to use a different inking brush #i think. but the next time i draw this it will be with solid blacks on the stair case steps i think #hey here's a fun fact for those of you who aren't catholic. did you know that kissing the ring of the pope/a cardinal/etc #grants you an indulgence. cardinals also used to kiss the pope on the mouth. also foot and hand iirc. anyway #there are no cardinals in this drawing but im saying if you write medieval/renaissance smut about men of the cloth #you can really amp up the friction between holy and seductive with a lot of the (gestures vaguely) that.#actually another fun fact about cardinals. their fun sun hat (it's called a galero) has some fucking weird as hell fever dream (literally)#origin lore. so if seductive isn't your thing. the horror of a thing that you wear is also extremely fun #esp when you get into medieval gender performances of clothes and how they define a person etc #generic medieval tag #original tag

#im gonna fucking throw up lancer's relationship with all of the fun gang is literally so important to me #hes gone his whole life surrounded by people but so incredibly alone for a multitude of reasons NONE of which are his fault #every grown ass adult in that castle knew he was suffering but did NOTHING about it #so to see these teenagers (OTHER KIDS) not only take him under their wing and include him whenever possible #but also stand up and say 'NO. no you will NOT get away with that' when his shithead dad abuses him #going so far as to put their own asses on the line for him because they fucking care #and lancer loves them back!!! hes saved the fun gang's asses twice in as many chapters #the first instance being when he did something he's NEVER done before and took up hands against his dad #the affection in his dialogue when he talks about kris and susie and ralsei #calls them all funny nicknames and says that he misses them...#shaking and crying and throwing up and falling down thr stairs and astral projecting #im so so os so so normal about these characters i promise #deltarune

So its the @fyeahghosttrick Ghost Swap 2023 and in celebration of this great year of the remaster IIIIIIIIIII... threw Cabanela up a flight of stairs. Sorry @gippley-png, but you gave me a Cabs Angst Free Space and my brain took off for the unseen bridge of Chapter 15 - he’s gotta get from the Basement to the Super’s Office somehow [exploded, unwillingly]. It could be said that the implication is far scarier than a set reality, but I tried to fill in the gap as painfully as possible. Maybe too painfully - as the kids say, I think I may have cooked a bit too hard with this one! Nevertheless I hope you enjoy this anyway?!

#alright snark and ship wars aside i get where you’re coming from tho #if you're genuinely interested in my thought process here i would love to elaborate #which is exactly what I’ll do!#first of all! the post you linked is about headcanons #which my brain kinda wants to put into a whole different category than ships — fandom ships in particular! — but i can leave that aside #because there IS an argument to be made that relationships are an extension of characterization and personality traits #if you wanna go that route i would wanna explain that Bloom's and/or Valtor's interest in the other is in fact based on canon #(even though I don’t really think ships need to be established in the source material. make shit up that’s what fandom is for #1) the Andros episode speaks for itself. Valtor specifically tells the Trix to back off because HE wants to be the one to fight bloom #2) the episode before that he asks questions about her (and only her; even though he has more powerful enemies to worry about)#demonstrating curiosity about and interest in her #3) that same episode (or the one before; can’t remember) is their infamous first meeting #where time LITERALLY slows down as the pass each other on the stairs #they get IMPACT FRAMES #the whole color palette changes!!!#idk about u but I eat that shit up. love the drama of it all no one does it like them #I’m gonna skip all the instances where Valtor is spying on Bloom through his little scrying spell because oh god who has the time #let’s go straight to Bloom #if I had a week I would not be able to collect all the moments where she growls his name in pure fury and single-minded determination #she gets a little bit obsessed with him over the course of the season and I personally think that’s very sexy of her #Bloom is known for her tunnel vision when it comes to her past and origins and Valtor's existence fits PERFECTLY into that #it ties in neatly with her overarching story of the past 2 seasons #literally PERFECT foils #which always makes for the juiciest stories #4) she singles him out for a duel in the museum episode #5) she can literally feel his presence #6) the mere mention of his name sends her into her weird faux enchantix #of course there’s no romance in canon but there’s TENSION AND CHEMISTRY which is all u really need for a ship #all their animosity and bad blood is what makes it so INTERESTING to wonder how they COULD work. it’s the spice that makes for good fanfic!

gods at least besides everything else that has been going So Wrong, Suzy has been doing so SO much better

#my life #my cats #she's more energetic than she's been in at least a full year #like I would have gladly taken 'improved since the hospital to pre hospital levels and better bloodwork'#but she's excitedly hanging out looking out windows #and runs up and down the stairs again #and she's been jumping up onto the table a BUNCH from the floor even #she'd been using the drawers to jump over when she did go up which was way more rare #she does a little dance when she trots around sometimes #like I can't believe I didn't notice she wasn't doing all this before #I just thought she was a bit sleepier in the winter time #and/or adjusting to the move less than ideally #but no we didn't just Save Her Life and are helping Prolong It A Lot with meds #it's clearly Improved The Quality So Much #and I'm so glad we were able to do that for her at least

OH HELLO MOON THAT NOW MATCHES THE ONE ON THE YUUKO PAGES

Either Clow’s moon works differently or weird time stuff is already happening because I’m SURE it’d take longer than like 2-3 days for the phase of the moon to shift from a crescent to a gibbous moon. It’d be like a little under two weeks, unless I’m completely wrong.

Please correct me if I’m wrong I was not good at science.

#my husband surprised me with a treadmill yesterday #I’ve been wanting one but couldn’t justify the expense of it #and he found one for me 😊#excited to get back into good cardiovascular health #and not feel like I’m dying when I go up a flight of stairs #already did 2 miles #hoping to push it up to where i was before when I was in a good place health wise #which was 4 miles #if I could see my body do that then I will be very grateful for its abilities #notice there’s no diet talk here #no weight loss gimmick #I’m staying in the mindset that I’m doing this because it makes me feel good #I refuse to shame myself into being better

In today's news, I could not go to class because I have my period and the building my class is in [film class in the dentistry building] does not allow non-dentistry students to use the bathrooms and, surprise surprise, I can't really carve out twenty to thirty minutes of class time to go to the library bathroom

#it's not enough that the classroom is up four flights of stairs #the humanities students are not allowed to use the bathrooms. there are signs up and we are reminded every week #usually the classes are only an hour and people not on periods can cope #but my thursday class is two hours. i need to use the bathroom at least once #therefore i could not go to class #we're also not allowed to use the bathrooms in the engineering building when our classes are schedules in there #everyone hates the humanities :')
