WIP Questionnaire tag
Today I've collected 2 very old tags from the lovelies @mysticstarlightduck and @saltysupercomputer -- thank you!!! <3 I'll fill this one out for Invisible Girl :)
1. What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?
The very first part was the idea of a long caper on a moving train. Though the train changed a lot, and even was briefly cut at one time, that vision remains the heart of this story.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
This is a tricky question, says the writer who is extremely music-less, no playlists or anything to be found. I think I'd want something that expresses the time period, some jaunty piano music that could segue into a darker theme...🤩
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
In this WIP...I'd have to say Paris is the teacher's pet by a little bit, he's just...he's my type of character, so I have extra special fun torturing him. But Antonio surprised me with how much he's blossomed and grown throughout the course of my drafting, and I'd say he's a close second now.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
Well, this is hard to answer without tooting my own horn, but I hope perhaps it would be another book for fans of Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and other political/urban fantasies.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Ugh. Plot. This story started out as both a heist and a murder mystery, and it was awfully ambitious of me. I don't know enough to write a murder mystery, and I'm not even sure it suited the story?? To be discovered, by later me, fingers crossed 🙄
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
No featured animals, although a couple get mentions as background ingredients. There are some stray dogs in the city, a couple crates of chickens on the train...not much more.
7. How do your characters travel/get around?
Haha. When not on a cross country train ride, they can be found in taxis, streetcars, and the occasional horse driven carriage (Antonio).
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
I'm neck deep in draft 2, holding up different chunks and seeing if they can be stitched together or need to be thrown out. Half the time it's invigorating and fun, half the time I wander around crazed, wondering if I should just scrap the whole thing and move on. le sigh
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) You think will draw your audience in?
This is a story about friendship, first and foremost, about connection and loneliness and learning to let yourself open up. It's an exploration of causing a ripple, of who we become when our actions have no effect. I think these are questions that everyone can connect with in some way and find exploring them interesting and entertaining.
As for tropes, well: Found Family, Heists, Magic versus Machines, Self Discovery, Adventure, Loneliness, Friendship, Friends to Lovers.
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
I hope to wrangle the story into something that I feel pleased by, and to share it with friends and family, including some friends I have that are already authors, and start accepting feedback. I know the first novel you're ever serious about isn't usually destined for great things, but if I could use this experience to learn and grow as a writer, my next few (many) projects can go farther. :)
That being said. If I was dreaming, I'd get this baby published.
Passing the tags on to @nrivanwrites @reneesbooks @eccaiia @revenantlore @sarandipitywrites and anyone else who sees this -- no pressure!

WIP Questionnaire Tag
Thanks for the tag @diabolical-blue (here)!
I'll go with Supernova Initiative for this one!
1. What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?
I had wanted to write a science fiction/space opera story for years now! I've always been a huge fan of Star Wars and similar series, and I've always wanted to write something similar! I guess that the actual first part of this WIP I've ever created was the setting - it has remained the same/similar from the first iteration of an idea of this story, while the main characters, title, and plot underwent many, many changes until it all got to the version I'm currently writing!
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Curiously enough, the Supernova Initiative book series is going to be more akin to a "TV Show" format - like Clone Wars, The Last of Us, or Game of Thrones - than a traditional novel format. That's a bit complicated to explain further, but the gist of it is - the chapters are going to be the "episodes", which in turn will be divided into acts/seasons that take place in specific time frames, with the first (5 episode/chapter) taking place 10 years before the main story!
If I had to choose, I would say that the theme song would be a rather energetic rock/pop song! With a similar vibe to these:
(Check out the full WIP playlist)
I'm Dangerous - The Everlove
Shame! Shame! Shame! - Reinaeiry
Let's Do This - Outskrts
El Dorado - Stellar
Anti-Gravity - Runaground
I think that the song would need to have this rebellious/badass energy, mixed with a generally fun beat and good lyrics that touch on the overall theme/plot of the series! Plus a generally youthful vibe!
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
I really love most of the main cast from this WIP!!!! But my Top 3 definitely are Jack Tithus, Gabi Ophyria, and Deimos Soll!
Jack is a really sweet, kind, and slightly reckless guy, who is at the same time outgoing, extroverted, and funny when he wants to be. He is defiant towards authority and fiercely protective of those he loves, to a dangerously selfless degree, all of which are tropes/traits I really enjoy in characters.
(Plus, in a way, Jack is one of the characters that kind of holds a condensation of some of my own personality traits, in good and bad ways - which was something accidental at first, but which I then embraced. )
Gabi Ophyria was one of the characters that came to me a bit later during the plotting of this book, which was surprisingly clear to me from the get-go. She's a brash, loud, fierce girl who lets no one talk her down and who believes in fighting for what she believes in. She also has anger issues - which is something she struggles with and eventually overcomes as her arc progresses, especially as she learns to let herself be vulnerable and trust others rather than try to be unbreakable all the time.
Deimos Soll is one of the most badass characters in this WIP and I just adore him. In a superficial, bad summarization, lol he's basically a young adult, alien version of John Wick and honestly is one of my all-time favorite characters I've ever written. He starts out in the backstory chapters as an awkward, fearful teenager lost in a moon he knew nothing about, but eventually grows into the deadliest and most efficient sniper this galaxy has ever seen, and one of the biggest threats to the Junction. I just adore writing introverted badass/morally grey characters who have a heart of gold. One of my favorite tropes!
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
Definitely other space opera/sci-fi adventures like Star Wars, Star Trek, or Voltron! Those stories introduced me to the space opera science fiction genre which I love so dearly, so I think that pretty much anyone who likes that genre will probably like one of those movies lol. I also think that my future fanbase might also like Six of Crows or the Bad Guys (the DreamWorks movie), as the "found family of misfits working on a heist" trope is a pretty big trope in the first acts of this WIP as well!
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
I think the hardest part about this WIP is that its structure is something I haven't seen before - as in, it's essentially a "TV Show but make it a Book Series" at its core. That means I have to improvise a lot with how I structure the story's chapters and how I structure all the events of the story. One good thing about this format I'm trying to recreate is that it is really visual, and I'm a really visual writer/person, so that means I get to make a really vivid world and characters!
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
There are! A lot of them actually. Since this is a science fiction/spare opera adventure, a lot of the story involves the main characters traveling from planet to planet, especially during their heist mission and after the plot progresses.
They visit all kinds of planets and thus all kinds of biomes - the dusty mining moons like Cethea III, giant winter desert planets like Ivion, or flourishing forest dwarf planets like Stryxus. Cethea III - the homeworld of the MCs in the backstory chapters - is known for giant elk-like oxen that roams the dusty wasteland, as well as smaller lizard creatures and a few strange, venomous mammals. They also have giant birds, known as Harpies, which have a powerful screech capable of blowing out one's eardrums when too close.
Ivion is a gigantic winter desert, home to equally gigantic winter creatures, ranging from two-headed mountain lynx to absolutely enormous dragon-like creatures that burrow underneath the blanket of ice. It is also known for famously adorable, three-eyed, surprisingly big rodents similar to lemmings, which live in packs.
Stryxus has a biome akin to that of a tropical rainforest, which means the wildlife within it is incredibly varied despite the planet's small size, and that it has a vast variety of insects, mammals, lizards, and all kinds of animals you would expect from that environment. And even some you wouldn't expect.
The oceanic depths of Thallassen, in the heart of the Khosmonian galaxies, host especially gargantuan creatures, from pacific whale-like creatures with four, giant glowing eyes, to monstrous predatory lamprey-like creatures that lurk in the water.
7. How do your characters travel/get around?
The main form of transportation between planets, settlements and galaxies are starships/spaceships of varying shapes, sizes and fuel capabilities. Each planet has its own varied form of in-land transportation, but ranging from different animal mounts, hoverbikes, bullet trains, specialized boats/ships, submarines, and/or especially flying cars in the big cities.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
I'm currently writing the first draft of this WIP, and am around the third or fourth chapter of the Prologue Act (which consists of five chapters, or episodes). I already have an alpha reader (@sarandipitywrites) who is helping me a lot with ironing out the details of this story! I'm really happy about the progress I'm finally being able to make!
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) You think will draw your audience in?
General tropes: Found Family, Heists, Space Exploration, Whump (especially Lab Whump), rebelling against the system, Dystopian Utopia, Secret bioengineering scheme (as the main threat from the villains), loveable cyborgs/robots, etc!
For romance: Friends to Lovers, Rivals/Enemies to Lovers, Grumpy/Sunshine, etc
Familial/Friendship Tropes: Wholesome father-daughter duo (who are a former assassin and his feisty adoptive daughter), Protective Older Brother & Willful Younger Sister, Adoptive Siblings, general group of misfits fighting against an oppressive government, etc.
For more tropes & details, check out the WIP Intro!
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
I hope I'll be able to finally finish the first draft of this story this year and that I'll publish it (probably self-publishing or something similar!) in the near future! I generally also hope to have a lot of fun writing it, and that other people will have fun reading this too (especially my friends)!

WIP Questionnaire
Thanks @buffythevampirelover for the tag! This game looks fun!
Rules: answer as few or as many as you'd like!
1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?
TSP: Lexi was! TSP started out as a school project, and we had to create a character sheet for our first person narrator! That was "Alexia" who is now just "Lexi" (but her full name is still Alexia).
SOTL: The concept! "School for fairy tale characters" was basically it. I got discouraged a bit when I found out this concept already existed, but that didn't mean I couldn't do my own take!
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
My favorite types of intros for TV shows are original theme songs or very catchy instrumental music. 30-60 seconds is a good length. I'd hope that for TSP and SOTL. Hope this isn't a cop-out.
3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?
TSP: My favorite characters to write for are Lexi, Gwen, Akash, Robbie, and Carmen. Lexi because the arc I gave her is an exaggerated version of something that speaks a lot to me. Gwen because I wasn't expecting her to be as interesting as she ended up being planned to be. Robbie and Akash because of how funny and sweet their dynamic is. Yes, I love them separately, but they're a package set. Carmen because she's just so damn interesting I love studying her under a microscope.
SOTL: I am barely into writing it, but it's Jack at the moment. Shocker, he has three chapters while Tierney and Úrsula have one each! But the reason is that he is average at everything, but he doesn't let that get him down! He's funny and relatable and a dork.
4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?
TSP: Hm, good question. The only thing coming to mind right now is Young Justice (the cartoon). Starts out with this fun group of kids, becomes extremely dark. Ensemble cast. Sneaking around. Superpowers. Fight scenes. Drama.
SOTL: Insert fairy tale retelling here.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?
TSP: Juggling everything. The world building, I guess. Making all the characters distinct was something I struggled at for a while, but I'm getting much better at it. Trying to figure out how the world works is challenging, but I am having fun. But juggling all the moving parts to make it cohesive is a challenge.
SOTL: What is plot?!! Also battling my ambition to do every fairy tale ever. I'm gonna have to make a lot of background characters that will get their own side stories separate from the main series to get all that I want. I probably will do that.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
TSP: Yep! Alium has a lot of fantasy creatures, animal hybrids, and fun things I just made up. Custos the dragon is the only truly prominent one right now. He's a blue fire dragon and is adorable. I also have kitsunes. Animal hybrids include unibison, ferretsnakes, cowyotes, beaverducks. Things I made up include the elemental foxes and blue hedgehogs.
SOTL: Hofiwi is an anthropomorphic bear! She was cursed to be anthropomorphic, this is not a normal thing in this world. I love her and she's just planned at the moment. Can't wait to do more.
7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
TSP: Hovercrafts, dragons, teleporting, trains, and some other power-based travel
SOTL: I'm still figuring this out no one has gone anywhere yet. Dragons or carriages would be cool. Maybe I can mix them with something modern to fit the setting.
8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?
TSP: World building! Specifically the power database since that will be the backbone for everything.
SOTL: Reading fairy tales... I need to do that more
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?
TSP: Powers, diverse cast, queer/disability rep
SOTL: same as TSP but fairy tales!
10. What are your hopes for your wip?
If I see one (1) fanart between either my life will be complete.
This was fun!
Softly tagging @mk-writes-stuff @jezifster @blind-the-winds @little-peril-stories @sleepywriter00 @mysticstarlightduck @sarahlizziewrites @writernopal @gottestod-writes + anyone who wants to join!
TSP intro
TSP tag list (ask to be +/-): @thepeculiarbird @illarian-rambling @televisionjester @finchwrites - giving a slightly harder nudge than usual cause I really want to see what y'all have to say! Still optional obviously

wip questionnaire ; tag game
i was tagged by @oh-no-another-idea a few days ago, thank you!! gonna be talking about The Daughter of Denmark here :)
1. What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?
Originally, it was simply a non-chronological collection of scenes to flesh out my acting in my high school's production of Hamlet. The first one was either about Laertes' and Hamlet getting together/breaking up, or about Gertrude and how she ended up married to King Hamlet in the first place. Versions of these scenes still exist (the Laertes break-up scene is only moderately edited!) and the set-up of Gertrude coming from Germany on behalf of a dead sister remains part of the backstory.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
We Put a Pearl in the Ground by St. Vincent. It's a very simple piano piece that I used to listen to while memorizing Hamlet's lines, so half of it is that mental association—the other half is that I can imagine a really beautiful and simplistic intro to it.
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
Of the original characters I've created, I think my favorite is Guinevere, Francisco's wife. She is French, was married off for trade reasons, but her and Francisco have an incredible loyalty to each other. She is a favorite of Gertrude's court (partially just by being southern and more familiar to the queen) and uses those privileges to help out Hamlet when and where she can.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
I haven't watched it yet, but I'd like to imagine there would be some overlap with My Lady Jane fans. Aesthetics-wise, The Girl King (2015) movie fans would probably be into it. Hopefully anyone who liked Ophelia by Lisa Klein (and the movie adaptation starring Daisy Ridley) would also enjoy my novel. Fans of the Conqueror's Saga series by Kiersten White might also enjoy another historical gender bend.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
The biggest struggle has been figuring out how to transpose the timeline of Hamlet's life into novel form. No one wants to pick up a book adapting Hamlet and then wait for half of the story until they get to the part they recognize, BUT the pre-play backstory is too important to only be revealed in contextual mentions. I went back and forth on a million different outlines until I settled with where I am now (swapping timelines abt every 10/15% of the novel).
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Alfa is Hamlet's horse, and she is a very noble and sweet steed. She was probably a gift from Hamlet's father. There's also a haunted otherworldly red deer running around. She's neat :)
7. How do your characters travel/get around?
There is not much traveling in The Daughter of Denmark, but when they do travel it is by horseback, carriage, or boat. Hamlet used to race on horseback with her father, and it remains a cathartic exercise for her.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
Currently I am in the bulk of the adaptation period. I have hit a bit of a mental roadblock when it comes to addressing the infamous "to be or not to be" speech. I am so petrified of screwing it up! I know that I can just skip ahead and return it to later, but... I have to address it eventually... so I'm stuck.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) You think will draw your audience in?
Disaster bisexuals, queer-ing Shakespeare in general
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
I plan to start my querying journey with The Daughter of Denmark! While I plan on self-publishing some works (and have a lot of respect for that aspect of the publishing world), an eventual goal for my writing in general is to have an agent and be traditionally published. I am hoping to complete a draft by the start of summer, and be querying by fall! We'll see how lofty of a hope that is.

The WIP Questionaire
Thanks so so much from @verba-writing for the tag! I had such a fun time reading your answers too and I'm very excited for paranormal romance 😍
I feel like I wanna flag that a lot of my answers are very anime/gaming-sphere oriented and I hope I'm not totally alienating my mutuals by revealing just HOW MUCH I'm not a book person lololol But this is with what we're working:
The Questions are:
1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?
The very first thing I made was the high premise: It was synthesized from the Overly Sarcastic Productions question "What if all the Kings Under the Mountain came back...?" and then I added the context "...in a Nuclear Crisis to discuss piece?" And in my head, it was this HBO-style modern fantasy Game of Thrones meets West Wing type deal. But then... I didn't want to write the modern piece. (The modern piece should be written by people in countries from all over Europe about what it means to be a hero in various cultures.)
So I set it in 1800s fantasy world instead!
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
The first arc would be Dance in the Game by Zaq
The second arc would be Lacrimosa by Kalafina
The Gods' Arc would be Paper Boquet by Mili
3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?
Is it to cliché to be like "my current self-insert protagonist is my favorite character I've ever made"? Her and my antagonist are just THE BEST and I love them.
4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?
Mmm, I think Untitled Yssaia Game's story would appeal to queer Game of Thrones fans who could FEEL the straightness in GoT, especially if they also like anime. I would hope I could get general anime fans as well as Arcane and Genshin Impact fans, but I feel like those are too mainstream and Yssaia is not. Realistically, I think I'm gonna get the Wadanohara people and the Ib people and, if I get really lucky, the To the Moon people.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?
Marketing lol -- explaining what it is to people in a way that they realize they want it.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Fuafua 🥺🥺🥺
Look at her! She is a six-legged, six-eyed slug cat called a Maret. Marets fill the same role as ocelots in Yssaia, except they're more semi-aquatic like otters and their skin has a stressball-like texture.
7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
They walk or ride Rumateurs (which are alpaca-like beings with ossicones) or take ships or airships or trains. I don't like writing about travel that much though so it is a background element.
8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?
I am pre-editing the first arc for my alpha readers and the third arc has another 50k to 100k words to draft. We're at like 250k words total right now and it is so unwieldy 😭😭😭
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?
Oh, I have a convenient graphic for this. Hang on...

10. What are your hopes for your wip?
I was just diatribing about this earlier but the DREAM is to turn it into an RPGmaker adventure game and have it go viral and make a million bucks off it. I'd love to be the next Undertale but it'll never happen because I am not positioned to be the next Undertale, you know?
So yeah, that's what's what! Thanks again for the ask! This was so fun! I'm gonna pass this to @maiemorrae, @moonfeatherblue, @zebee-nyx, @winterandwords, @modernwritercraft, @words-after-midnight, @spideronthesun, @theprissythumbelina, @thepanplate, @thetruearchmagos, @maskedemerald, @moondust-bard, @pluttskutt and @emelkae 😍😍😍 I actually internalized Verba's WIP so well from this tag and I wanna make sure I'm updated on what all you cool people are working on! Open tag to any of my other moots too! 🥳
IMPORTANTTTTT⚠️
I will edit this to have a blank easily copy-and-pasteable question section when I get back to my computer. If I forget, @ me!

WIP Questionnaire
I was tagged to do this by @teacupsandstarlight
In return, I shall be gently tagging @awleeofficial, @illarian-rambling, and @ahordeofwasps + open tag!
Questions:
What was the first part of your wip that you created?
The Enochians. The initial inspiration for Records was actually Peter Mohrbacher's artwork which I saw at a con. I imagined a world where these vast and horrific angels just appeared in the sky over a world that was basically their sandbox. All I had to figure out was who lived in the world and what they would do about it.
If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
I picture Records having a whole intro title and credits sequence with very 80s CGI fantasy landscapes to this song here:
youtube
The fictional band Red Tape Rocket plays an important role in this series and I based their sound on my very favorite irl band, the Moody Blues, so there's a fun fact for you.
Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?
Definitely Sydney and Dell. Sydney's a girl who struggles to see herself in a positive light after being told again and again that she's worthless by members of her own family while being quietly brushed aside by the people who are supposed to care. So when she ends up on the Spiral, it's very much a journey of self-discovery and learning to be confident in herself and boy, do I want to give her a hug.
Dell started out as an email attachment that, due to some strange reality-warping shenanigans, gains sentience on Reyna's computer. She's super excited to speak with him and teach him things because her life is sad and she has no friends and he ends up leading her on a quest to the Spiral. I already know he's going to be fun to write because AI/robots always end up my favorites anyway XD
What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?
I've always thought this would make a cool Jim Henson movie so probably fans of weird, dark surreal fantasy like Labyrinth or The Dark Crystal would like it.
What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?
Probably getting everything to fit together in a way that makes sense but also allowing myself to leave certain elements a mystery. Usually when I plan my magic systems, I like to make hard rules for them but the Spiral is home to an eldritch skeleton thing that literally warps reality so anything can happen.
Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Depends what constitutes animals, I guess. I have a lot of strange creatures that inhabit the Spiral but all of them are sentient (yes, even the sandstone), so I guess they'd be more like fantasy races than animals. But they include the Varixxi, moth-like winged humanoids, the Aroon, clay pot tortoise-looking guys, and the Keem-Torali, which look like tentacled Horta that secrete acid and chill in extremely salty water.
How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
Walking mostly or, if they're lucky, my characters may catch a ride on a Colossus, but they're very hard to climb on to and you have to be careful not to get stepped on. Incidentally, there's also the molted exoskeleton of an eldritch abomination that sometimes becomes a portal when someone dies next to it, but that's not very practical.
What part of your wip are you working on rn?
I've actually been taking a little break from this so I can focus on Incantations but I really want to have my draft of book 1 finished by the end of the year.
What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?
This is pure, old school portal fantasy escapism. The main characters are all unhappy in their normal lives, wish for something more, and they get it. They're not your traditional heroes, but they get to save the world anyway.
What are your hopes for your wip?
If this story and these characters resonate with at least one person and can help them get through the day, I'll be content.

General taglist: @thatrandomlemononyourcounter1, @teacupsandstarlight

WIP Questionnaire
Tagged by @winglesswriter here!
Gently tagging: @bee-barnes-author @mysticstarlightduck @mister-writes @pandoras-comment-box @ahordeofwasps @theprissythumbelina and an open tag. Blank questions below the cut!
For the Guardians of Eternity Series:
1. What is the first part of your WIP that you created?
The initial idea was about a magical bear of some sort that would appear and guide people to a magic forest. The story grew from that one idea.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Instrumental, for sure. I really like Bear McCreary (Outlander, Godzilla, Rings of Power, etc.) and Lorne Balfe (His Dark Materials, Wheel of Time), so I’d be happy with any composer with similar vibes.
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
My creatures! My cute little guys 💜 I love them so much. But I love each of my MC’s equally—it’s impossible for me to choose. I’d say I have the most fun with Adrin, but my best writing is with Hettie.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fan base would share?
If you like anything character-driven with found family, magical creatures and fantasy worlds where nothing is ever what it seems, you’ll vibe with me. I’ve taken inspiration from a lot of my fave shows/books, so there’s something for everyone.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Everything. Tomb of Light is the first novel I have ever attempted to write, and the first time I’ve written fantasy. It’s hard to know when to let loose and when to pull back—which is how I’ve learned that I am an underwriter. Big time.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Creatures!!! Hell yeah! I made a post here about them.
7. How do your characters get around? (Ex. Trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
By foot or by horse (except Adrin, who is afraid of horses. He walks everywhere. Like a fool.)
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
I have started outlining and writing the sequel to ToL, The Forest’s Embrace! In addition, I am also working on ToL’s first round of edits (which is very hard without alpha readers).
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe) of your WIP do you think will draw people in?
I have a hero to antagonist arc that is essentially an exploration of grief following trauma and a toxic relationship. That is what I think will help my story stand out from other fantasy stories—the magic is really just an instrument that helps the characters heal. (That is the most boiled down explanation I can give.)
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
I would love to query ToL by 2025 and have it published within the next few years. For right now, I just want more people to connect with the story and see it for what it can be one day.
1. What is the first part of your WIP that you created?
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fan base would share?
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
7. How do your characters get around? (Ex. Trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe) of your WIP do you think will draw people in?

Thanks for the tag @theink-stainedfolk!
WIP Questionaire
I'll answer for MG3 (my on-going wip)
What's The First part of the WIP that you created ?
The ending. I haven't written it yet, but the first thing I knew when I started was how I wanted it to end. Just imagine me laughing evily now for the full effect.
If Your Story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
The Darkest of Days by Piotr Musiał. It's the darkest of the three books and this song is from Avymere's playlist, who is one of the two new POVs I added in for book 3.
What are your favourite characters that you made and why?
Ah, I can't choose! I love them all <3
What other pieces of media your fanbase would share?
Dnd definitely. I was inspired heavily by the Foundryside Trilogy (great read, but Watch Out), so if anyone liked that, they'll probably like Mortal God.
What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
The two new POVs. I've been writing from Astra and Mashal's viewpoints for a while now, so I'm very used to them. Avymere and Elsind are newer though, so I'm still getting used to those two.
Are there animals in your story? Talk about them.
No, sorry. Astra's cat is staying with her parents for book 3 because I'd be sad if Mercher ever got hurt.
How do your characters travel/get around?
Mostly walking. If they're lucky, they can hook up with a caravan. Telephone is also an option, but not one that's very conducive for Astra's mental health right now.
What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
The dreaded middle. Honestly, it's not so bad. The beginning was more rough with this one for some reason. But I'm just really excited to get to the end, so everything feels slow.
What aspects (tropes, maybe) will you think will draw your audience in?
Slow burn romance, revenge quests, characters put on a pedestal learning to be human again, weird magic, and robots are a few draws, I'd say. I fucking love robots.
What are your hopes for your WIP?
I really want to get traditionally published! Maybe that's ambitious, and I definitely have to save up some cash before I can afford editors and things, but I'll never know if I can do it until I try right?
So yeah, that's The Machinations of Machine and Man! I'll tag @kaylinalexanderbooks @sleepyowlwrites @princeofhags @wyked-ao3 and anyone else who wants in :)

WIP Questionnaire
Tagged by @faeriecinna (here) and @wintherlywords (here)
This is kind of late, but I have a ton of tags drafted and I'm slowly working through them when I find my motivation. Here's the response for my current WIP: A Tale of Frost and Flames (still a working title)
✨What was the first part of your wip that you created? ✨
It all started with a knight kneeling before his princess and promising to be her sword and to mow down any enemies that stand in her way. Now it has evolved far past just that.
✨If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?✨
Definitely a powerful instrumental intro with a touch of whimsy.
✨Who are your favorite characters you've made? Why?✨
Taliesin is certainly a favorite of mine because I wanted to create a strong morally grey character who is also a dragon. Although I'm attached to all of them, especially the ones I have yet to introduce. Rhidian because he's a himbo who just wants to be a good person and is stuck being the 3rd son of a king, so his job is to be married off to make an alliance. Despite this he wants to make his arranged marriage work.
✨What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?✨
Anything with a heavy romance element in an in-depth fantasy world. Other Media with political drama, faefolk, magic, and dragons.
✨What has been your biggest struggle with your wip? ✨
My biggest struggle has been with my pacing. Trying to find the right pace for plot points to unfold themselves. Just recently I decided that my pace was going too fast, so to slow it down I'm refocusing book one into more of a focus on where Eirallia is now/who she is rather than pushing her too quickly into evolving into the character that I imagine for her. I'm slowing it down to focus more on her character journey, but it's been a struggle to take a step back and to make that choice.
✨Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!✨
Regular animals so far. There's natural wildlife in the kingdoms. As for Melione...there are a lot of creatures in the wylds. Animalistic and not. There is another character that I have in mind (without a name yet), but she has a secondary form that's cat-like.
✨How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)✨
Horses and carriages in the human kingdoms, along with ships and other vessels. Melione is a special case where there is an abundance of magic. Some have wings and other gifts that can get them around quicker.
✨What part of your wip are you working on rn?✨
After some rough decisions, I split the draft that I had been working with into the beginning and end of book one. So right now, I am working on Eirallia's slow processing of grief while she is being overloaded with responsibilities that don't belong to her in a place where she knows that she isn't wanted.
✨What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?✨
It's my hope that my themes of adversity and overcoming will shine through and draw people in. Along with the progression of growth that all of my characters have to go through in order to find who they're meant to be when not being forced into a mold created by their parents and the society that they live in. There's a heavy theme of grief and trying to fit into a mold made for someone else. Basically, Eira's life is a mess. Her love life, her family life, everything is a mess. She's learning along the way how to be herself while processing big losses in her life.
✨ What are your hopes for your wip?✨
My hopes are pretty simple with this one: To be able to physically hold my wip in my hands.

WIP Questionnaire (Out There)
Thanks @dontjudgemeimawriter for tagging me here!
1. What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?
Just Caroline being bored, and learning about the realms from her brother. I was inspired by the Fairy Realm books as a starting point (which goes to show you how young I was when I started it, haha), and wanted to include a charm bracelet with it. As the story evolved, I took this part away, and had Jessica become Caroline's guide to the realms.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Hmm...I don't have an idea for it yet. What about you?
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
Caroline stands out the most; I'd like to imagine her as someone who's like me. Insecure, a bit usure about herself, but willing to throw herself into new things. She has a reckless streak about her which mirrors myself, in a way.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
Hmm...first impression is that fans of the Tamora Pierce novels would really get a dig out of this! There's interesting heroines, magic, adventure, and all around epic. Will there be darker sides to these characters? Probably. (How about you guys?)
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Trying to incorporate the worldbuilding. I threw Caroline and co into a generic fantasy world, though I do have a rough idea about the magical powers of the characters and the political situation between the two realms. The things I have to fix are the quirks of this world, along with the little details which differ from ours. And deciding about the timeline; the original version only takes place within two days! Plus, how much technology is used here.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
There are human-animal hybrids in our world, such as with sirens and half-bird/half-human creatures. They inhabit their own territories of other realms and created their own societies, and one of them takes an interest in helping Caroline.
As for animals, there are of course, but aren't a major role in the plot (yet...)
7. How do your characters travel/get around?
To get into the realms, portals from our world are formed with powerful sources of magic, particularly during national disasters (which means if something bad happens, then that magic could be nullified too). A human being can get to the realms either through chanting a spell, or summoning its magic to get where they're going.
Within the realms, they walk, travel by trains (albeit it's more of a western Carinian thing than an eastern thing), horses, or can summon portals too. Sirens can fly where they please (those who have wings). Aerokinetics can accelerate pretty far, but can't crisscross the realm in a day.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
I'm almost at the end of act I with the rewrite! Seraterina is whisked away to the princess of Vela for important information about the Sea Gardenia, and Caroline meets up with Jessica to make sure she's okay.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) you think will draw your audience in?
The "chosen one" trope for sure with the first book. Portal fantasy is a big one, constantly switching between the responsibilities of the real world and the realms.
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
Publication for sure--and hopefully, people would write their own stories based on the characters. And just having the will to go on a journey themselves.
What about you? @memento-morri-writes, @writeblrfantasy?

WIP Questionnaire
Thanks @wintherlywords for the tag, this looks like fun! I've left a copy of the clean slate of questions below
Rules: Answer as many (or as few) of the questions about your WIP as you can.
1. What was the first part of your WIP that you created? The first part of the TGATWST I wrote was one of the endings of the three stories in the book lol, jumping right to the end. It's a scene where there is rain falling on a man's face and he, being in love with a god, feels it as an embrace from his lover - very sentimental and a bit mushy but what can I say, I'm a sucker for romance.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be? I think it would be like the music from The Hobbit or LoTR! Very instrumental and powerful, something that could move you.
3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why? Oop that would be like picking a favourite child and I'm not going into too much detail on this WWIP as of yet (still in the very early stages and wondering if it will survive) but I definitely have characters whose voices I have figured out better than others.
4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story? The Hobbit, LoTR seeing as they're huge inspirations for me in everything I do lol. Maybe the inheritance Cycle and books like it? Honestly difficult to imagine anything I write having a fan base but if I had to give it a vibe I'd go with those!
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP? Motivation, every time. I have a demanding job and exams and I'm currently in the legal process of getting a house so lots of exciting things going on that usually mean I have no energy left for writing!
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them! Horses, cows and beasts lol, the WIP is set in medieval times (fantasy of course) so animals are a big part of the world, but not a huge part of the actual story.
7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.) Horses, walking, some carriages for those with a little extra coin who fancy living the high life
8. What part of your WIP are you working on rn? The end of the beginning, and the beginning of the middle, which is a strange sentence to write.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your WIP do you think will draw people in? Gods and mortals and the relationships between them, found family vibes, self-loathing characters finding redemption, soldiers finding and losing faith, and lots of queer representation
10. What are your hopes for your WIP? That I can actually finish it and have it be something I am proud of.
I'll go ahead and tag (with no pressure) @verba-writing @elizaellwrites @writingmoth and @ceph-the-ghost-writer and anyone else who wants to have a go!

WIP Questionnaire
Tagged by @tabswrites
Gently tagging: @amandacanwrite @coffeewritesfiction @ellierenae @johnna-oneal-trash-writer @leahkentwriter @milkhoney531 @pheita @pb-dot @sirensatyr @theamazinggrayson @tombstuck @violeaes @vivrune and an open tag. Blank questions below the cut!
For 'THE BEAST IN THE GLASS HOUSE':
1. What is the first part of your WIP that you created?
The outline. I was at a client's house, dog siting for a week, and I just finished reading ROSEMARY'S BABY by Ira Levin. I put down the book, and thought about the gaslighting aspect of the novel, and how scary that is. Then TBITGH appeared in my brain, whole and grown like Athena herself.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Idk about the song, but the direction would be very much like the intro from the first season of the sopranos. Probably it'd be the drive from Damon's office, to Freya's apartment, then to her work. It'd end on Damon putting sunglasses and a mask on.
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
I hate Damon. He's such a loser so I don't count him as a character LMAO. My favs will have to be Freya or JJ. My love for Freya is hard to explain without spoiling the book lol. To be vague, it's her character arc. For JJ, I love how he ends up and how he develops as a character. Again, can't say much without spoiling.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fan base would share?
This q kinda confuses me? Like what other shows/books would ppl like if they like my work? Well, my book is for fans of stalker horror (such as YOU by Caroline Kepnes and MISERY by Stephen King). If you're looking for the inspiration of the male love interest, check out THE VAMPIRE DIARIES tv show (seasons 1-3~, the rest are garbageeee), TWLIGHT (both the books and movies, specifically MIDNIGHT SUN), 50 SHADES OF GREY (I've only read the first book so I can't vouch for the movies, but the book is meh-to-bad imo)
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Honestly, writing this thing has been a breeze. I wrote the first draft in under four months. It just flowed out of me. It's this whole 'getting ppl to read it' thing that's the hardest.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Werewolves! Mentions of squirrels. The mc is a werewolf and he's a werewolf supremacist. Werewolves on the brain 24/7 baybeeee.
7. How do your characters get around? (Ex. Trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
They run on all fours in wolf form, go around on two legs in human form and a special wolf form, drive cars, and drive snow mobiles.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
The manuscript is done. I'm just waiting on the last edits from a paid editor. Once I do those rewrites, I'll put this up for publishing. Aiming to launch mid June 2025!
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe) of your WIP do you think will draw people in?
Incomplete list: soulmates/instant-love, every werewolf/shape shifter trope under the moon (couldn't help it), billionaire boyfriend, stalker 'romance'. Every 'bad boy boyfriend' trope. I loooove taking tropes and turning them on their heads.
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
To publish! I'd love it to go gangbusters but my primary hope is just to have ppl read it 'XD

WIP Questionnaire Tag
I've been tagged by the terrific @tabswrites! Thanks for the tag! I'll answer the questions for Crying Wolf.
But first, the no pressure tags! I'll be tagging @mary-is-writing, @afoolandathief, @amewinterswriting, @space-writes, and open tag! I'll leave a blank set of questions under "read more."
Now, onto those questions!
1. What is the first part of your WIP that you created?
I would say Chapter 1, wherein chaos hits a tavern, but that chapter got scrapped and rewritten. The first part that is still in the WIP is Chapter 2, which is from the perspective of a minor villain.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Definitely a Church of the Cosmic Skull song! If I were to pick one, I'd go with Movements in the Sky:
youtube
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
That's like asking me if I have a favourite child.
That being said, probably Ogwut or Daisy. Ogwut's a giant cinnamon roll, so it's hard not to like him. Daisy unexpectedly wound up having a sense of humour and resourcefulness that got me attached to her quite quickly.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fan base would share?
I don't know. Haven't really thought about that. I guess art?
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Pacing. The first half of the story is way too slow and I'm trying to fix it at the moment.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
There are a lot of animals and they're all important to the story. Wolves, sheep, Brutus the dog, birds, and possums are the most prominent though.
7. How do your characters get around? (Ex. Trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
Either on foot or, in one section of the story, being carried upon Ogwut's shoulders.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
I'm working on draft 6 which involves rewriting the first half. I'm on Chapter 10 (out of like 60).
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe) of your WIP do you think will draw people in?
Probably how wild the plot sounds whenever I try to summarize it. The main villain is a lonely military A.I. who ressurrects the boy who cried wolf as an undead cyborg. The boy wants to kill everyone in his village because they let him die and the A.I. will do anything to help him. Anything. There's a robot who believes he's human... and is also 10 feet tall. He wants people to not kill each other. There's a gravity worshipping cult that wants to kill all three but only knows about two.
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
To get it finished and to share it somehow. Not entirely sure how. Maybe I'll attempt to pursue tradpub (when it's legal for me to do so), maybe I'll just share it to the internet. Not sure at this point.

WIP Questionaire
Using an open tag from @sleepy-night-child
1. What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?
A character that no longer exists. I guess the first thing that is still there is Mika actually! Mika is a major character, but not exactly a main character (Like I rank Terran and Raymond above her as MCs), and she was a major character in the original draft, too. Her character is mainly the same, except the original MC saw her sweeter, gentler sides and Terran mostly sees her petty, angry sides. After that I'd saay Zachary, who's also been there from the beginning. Both Mika and Zachary were created before Terran was even born.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Ooh. I think if this was a show it's be a netflix original miniseries-- idk it just has that vibe I think? But probably a Sam Tinnesz song since I have a ton of him on my WIP playlist and they all definitely fit. I also thought of Landmines by BELLSAINT.
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
Damn, I love all my characters. I don't think I could have characters I don't love. I do think Terran is in a way my favorite-- like, this was a story I had abandoned, but I loved Terran so much I went back to it and took him and had the others follow suit. So yeah, he's my fave. I guess i love his struggle, how scared he is of himself, and how much he tries without even realizing he is-- and how much he is growing.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
I'm assuming this means other things they would also like? I kind of hope I Hunt Killers fans find it. But also there are a ton of books I know of that feel a similar genre, basically the things I read... trying to think of more well known things or non-books, I think... Maybe White Collar? XD. I don't know.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Can I say writing it? I guess the biggest one is finding time and energy to work on it. Lately I haven't done anything with it because I have work, social commitments, and dnd to plan every week. Plus rest, doing chores/errands, and reading. No time.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Not really, I don't put a lot in. There's a cat that shows up at one pint that Mika is petting before she and Terran have arguement, but that's about it.
I will say, in Second Chance I decided the MC has a cat names Spoons.
7. How do your characters travel/get around?
Walking. Terran hates doing anything but walking, and they're in a city that's not so big that he can't. Right now though they are venturing outside the city and traveling by train.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
I guess I'm leading into Act 3 or right at the beginning of it? I know I've passed the midpoint, and it's been a bit since I have. And I think I can see the climax in sight.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) you think will draw your audience in?
I think what would most interest me about the WIP is the moral struggle and the crime aspects. Like, "Assassin who saved someone's life and now doesn't know if he can escape or should just pretend he never did that" is just super appealing to me and I hope it is to others. Also I kinda hope Rayran will draw people in because they're fantastic.
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
To finish it? That this one is able to be edited into something really good, that it can be published and enjoyed.

WIP Questionnaire Tag
Thanks for the tag, @mysticstarlightduck! I'll use Traveling Bards for this, as is the current trend for me.
1. What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?
The outline? That's usually how I start. If you mean of the actual story, then chapter 1. If you mean the concept itself, the characters.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Best I can find is Passerine by The Oh Hellos (the artists who made Solider, Poet, King). I'd love to find a more comedic/energetic song, though.
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
Within this story? The MCs, lol. Especially Felix, my beloved son! I'm not gonna lie, the sisters are inspired by some IRL people that I love very much. But even without that, they're just so fun! This is my first "simple"/comedy story, so there's less of a focus on prose or "depth" and more on me just dicking around with these guys, so I'm really having a blast with them. Their characters are the most unhinged I've written so far, though I hope to change that soon.
Felix isn't inspired by an IRL person, but he's kind of shameless wish-fulfillment. Traveling Bards initially began as a parody of a very specific genre of anime, so he's essentially what I wish would happen/what I love to see for characters with his archetype.
For the favorites of all time? Can't choose, honestly. Love all of them!
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
Memes. Or, I'd hope so. If it ever got adapted, I'd love a compilation video or funny edits. Regardless? Endless shitposts, sprinkled with random and unwarranted brainrot thesis-long thinkpieces on elements of my characters and world-building that I never even considered when writing it that ultimately change the way even I view my characters. I'd love a good Tumblr essay from someone being Totally Normal about one of my funky little guys.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Actually writing it! Lmao. For the 3 people that have seen my writing logs, you'd know I had to recently overhaul the entire initial arc as well as the 3 chapters I already wrote! Though I guess plot points would also be part of that struggle.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
All kinds! Anything from normal animals to classic fantasy ones to ones I personally made up! My favorite out of all of them are the dragons. Because dragons are fucking awesome. My second favorite are the ones I made myself.
One of the first ones I introduce is the "crystal frog" which is this really cute frog that's quite literally translucent- kind of like the glass frog, but even more translucent! And light refracts off of it like a crystal!
7. How do your characters travel/get around?
Carriage/horse most often at first, then eventually via ship, then flying (with magic or on a magic creature). So. Basically anything but a plane or car.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
Actually writing it! I'm currently only a few chapters in on my first rough draft. My goal is to create the entire rough draft with as few edits as possible and then to go back and revise the whole thing, since that'll be easier for me than trying to make each chapter "perfect" before I move on.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) You think will draw your audience in?
I guess for those that are more familiar with this genre, it'll be that. Isekais/reincarnation/transmigration/portal fantasy/whatever you want to call it. It's also got found family and friendship (kinda spoiler-y, but there's a sibling adoption involved!). Lots of "be gay, do crime" instances too.
It's also primarily an adventure-comedy, with a kinda parody-angle to it. They're intentionally gunning for these classic Hero Adventure experiences, in a bucket-list kind of way. Also, they're bards (for lack of a more accurate and snappy term) in a fantasy setting. So if you like a heavy emphasis on a sibling bond and ridiculous people getting into ridiculous situations of their own making, I'm hoping this will be appealing!
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
That it gets finished, LMAO. My goal is to complete the rough draft by the end of summer, so that I can spend fall and winter revising, rewriting, editing, etc. I eventually hope (like most writers) to one day publish it. But let's not get ahead of ourselves! I can't get there if I don't even finish it.
Not sure who to tag, so I'll come back to it later.
