Eliksni Sign Language
Soooo in writing the next Chapter for The Light Provides, I've decided to write up some notes about the Eliksni Sign Language I have Kiraks speaking within the story. She's not deaf but is completely mute save for some chitters, and this lead me down a route of theorising about the different forms that Eliksni Sign Language can take. This isn't everything and I'm still building on the idea, but just putting what I have down. Ramblings below the cut:
Disclaimer: I don't speak sign language irl but I've taken somewhat of an interest in it due to living with someone who is partially deaf. This is just me spitballing about a system implemented in the world of my fic, building mostly on the idea of how a four-armed species with different ideas of social communication may develop a system of non-verbal communication. Please let me know if there is anything offensive and I'll remove it. It's never my intent to hurt anybody.
Basic/Background Notes:
Sign language not a standardised/centralised language due to the Long Drift and the splintering of Eliksni culture.
Dialects vary massively between Houses, especially as there is little to no remaining documentation about the language and only a few speak it.
Eliksni wishing to learn the language often must seek out a tutor who already knows it to get more than a very basic grasp on signing, leading to the perpetuation of House-specific dialects.
Glyphic alphabet remains mostly consistent between House Dialects, but syntax may differ.
High degrees of variation with subdialects of House-specific sign language developing to suit the wider range of body types present post-Whirlwind.
Cultural variations of sign language poses issues with unification attempts e.g. House Salvation, House Light & House Dusk.
TL;DR Sign language is tricky and complex with many different slightly different variations due to the Long Drift, making it difficult to learn and not applicable cross-Houses.
Denoting Tone:
A major degree of dialect variation comes from the favouring of facial expressions versus body language to denote tone.
Piggybacking a bit off of Eliksni expressions headcanons, but positioning of mandibular hairs as well as mandibles and nictitating membranes used to convey tone in dialects that favour facial features.
This form is more overtly favoured by mute Eliksni, whether that be due to developmental issues, psychological factors or physical conditions & damage to their voices.
Some utilise natural subvocalisations too, but this is rare, especially amongst Deaf speakers.
Some deaf speakers of this form may learn to understand patterns of vibrations associated with subvocalisations and learn to mimic them, if they did not know them prior e.g. Hatched profoundly deaf or suffered hearing damage in very early youth.
In this case, their vocalisations may sound 'off' to other Eliksni, a bit like a speech impediment.
Dialects that favour body language utilises things such as scent markers in conjunction with the position of the lower arms to denote tone.
Mandible snaps or clicks in communication are instead denoted through a claw tapping motion produced by pinching the claws together (Think like tapping the thumb to the middle and index finger). Claws simulate clicking sound.
Lower arms make tonal indications whilst upper arms are used for signing actual words or phrases. This developed due to the lower set of arms being naturally less strong and precise than the upper arms, making them less suited to prolonged sessions of extremely quick signing when in conversation.
Naturally, this form of sign does not accommodate for Eliksni who have been docked, but one-handed versions of this dialect have been developed by some docked speakers.
Nouns and names:
Common nouns and proper nouns have their own special designated signs
Regular names are instead either spelled out of their individual letters or, in some dialects, compressed down into their constitute syllables.
Syllables are often comprised of shortened individual letter signs, following common sounds like the way there are specific glyphs in the Eliksni written alphabet for sounds like "kk", "rr", "im".
Other Notes:
Using both sets of arms to sign primary language is viewed almost akin to shouting.

Parahumans Powergen Reference
So, Wildbow's written a lot about parahuman abilities and trigger events over the years. If you know where to look, you can find it, but there's no centralized place to reference it. So I decided to make one.
If you know of sources I didn't include which you think would be helpful, please let me know! I'd like this to be a reasonably complete index for parahuman power stuff, and on my own, I can only include the stuff that I know how to find.
Movers
Document, listing several types of subcategory a Mover power might fall into.
Shakers
No documents at this time
Brutes
Document, with a detailed breakdown of subcategories associated with different kinds of physical harm, specific examples of powers in those subcategories, and some stuff about secondary Brutes which looks most applicable when you're running an actual Weaver Dice game.
Breakers
Document. It first clarifies what makes a trigger Breaker-ey and explains how they work. Also lists several categories of Breaker power, but only Death Breakers got fully written up. No indication of which triggers go with which categories, so maybe it's best to treat this as a set of example perks and drawbacks.
Masters
No document. The Stranger document mentions Stranger/Master powers. This is helpful for finding the line between "mess with people" Master powers and "make minions" ones.
Tinkers
Document, with a detailed list of "methodologies" and the trigger event types associated with them; you are expected to pick two, for extra flexibility, though they can be the same. Provides lots of detail, plenty of examples, a smidge of inspiration for secondary tinkers, and also Weaver-Dice-specific stuff. The gold standard I wish other power types had.
Document 2.0, much as above but with a somewhat different set of examples and more information on specialties. Can be handy if you need a "second opinion".
(Man, tinkers are spoiled. I get the sense that Wildbow was seeing a lot of bland or nonsensical tinkers in Weaver Dice games.)
Blasters
Document, with a list of different blaster types, the triggers associated with each, and some examples. Also has stuff about blaster element, secondary blasters, and dozens of pages of specific examples, complete with trigger.
Thinkers
Document, with several categories of triggers (and associated power types); plus some very vague stuff about "Thinker Types," incomplete Weaver Dice data, and a few specific examples.
Strikers
No documents at this time
Changers
Document, listing several different types and potential combinations, albeit without explaining what trigger events are associated with each. It still has a decent overview of what Changer powers and triggers look like.
Document 2.0, with a whole step-by-step process for generating Changers, alongside some other bits. At time of writing, those bits (and some small bits of the process) are visibly WIP. (More so than most of the Weaver Dice docs, I mean.)
The Stranger document mentions Stranger/Changer powers, explaining why it's a common crossover and giving examples.
Trumps
Document, eleven vague numbered Trump categories with trigger guidelines. Includes an introduction reminding you of important points. No insurrection.
Strangers
Document, with two pages of "WIP thoughts" on subcategories, about half of which have trigger event guidelines. Also has several pages of guidelines for crossing Stranger powers with literally every other power category. For some reason. Well, it's helpful, especially for power categories without their own documents.

SO(U)LMATE RULES
BLOCK THE TAG #so(u)l spoilers IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS FOR CHAPTERS AS THEY UPDATE Here are all the in universe rules for the So(u)l DCA Fanfic in one place! I'm going to write it as if its an actual piece of helpful literature you'd find in universe! Some rules have been rewritten from asks I've answered before, to make the rules more consistent. I'm going to split up the explanation into separate posts to keep it easier to read instead of one giant post, but they'll all be linked from here!
Hello! And welcome to a comprehensive guide to You and your Soulmate.
You have received your first sign that you and your soulmate are ready to meet. What now? What do these signs mean? This guide will serve to teach you how to interpret your marks, and give you the best chance at finding your soulmate. There are many different possible soul marks, and you may find that the ones you receive are different than the ones people around you have spoken about. This is normal! Everybody receives a different combination of marks. Whatever will help you find your matching piece or pieces the best. This can make things confusing, and it has made it difficult to catalogue them all, but this guide will provide a breakdown of the many most common signs, as well as a few of the rarer, more dangerous ones. It will also provide a guideline on interpreting the meaning behind the texture, shape, and design of one of the most common signs: A soul string. Do not worry. You will only begin to experience these symptoms when both you and your soulmate(s) are the people you were meant to be when you meet. You will not experience any signs until you are meant to. This guide is catered towards romantic soulmates. For a more comprehensive look at Familial and Platonic soulmate signs, please see their respective guides. In this guide, we will provide a colour code for what signs are documented to have been experienced for which type of bond. See colour code below. * Romantic * Familial * Platonic It is not currently clear how to tell which markings are meant for which soul bond, save for familial. Familial bonds will always be accompanied by a fuzzy, "plush" feeling, or sensation.
Please note that this guide is not a replacement for a medical professional's diagnosis. If your soul marks are causing you discomfort, the best treatment is to find your soulmate, and seek help from there.
Please see the Index below of possible soul marks in order of commonality for more information on specific symptoms, as well as how to use them to help you find your soulmate. Writing First Words ** Names ** Poetry ** Symbols Adaptive Markings *** Mirroring *** Imprints * Clues ** Soul Strings Familial * Romantic * Platonic * Neural Conflation Dreams ** Emotions *** Thoughts ** Physical Touch ** Injuries * Illness ** Soul marks and signs will fade once all parties involved in the connection have physically met, outwardly acknowledged their feelings, and accept their bond. They will not disappear completely. Once faded, they are visible to others outside of the bond. The amount of time it takes for your marks to progress through the stages of intensity is different for each class of soulmate, and differs from person to person. More complications may arise after these periods of time. *Only people within the soulmate bond will be able to see, hear, or otherwise experience these markings or signs until the bond is completed. Signs will then be faintly visible to those outside the bond. **Please note that these are only the most well documented signs. Other signs may appear. ***This guide is not written with colourblind people in mind. We apologize. ****It is advised you begin seeking out your partner or partners as soon as you begin seeing the first signs. It is well documented that the longer you wait, the more intense your symptoms, to the point of intense discomfort or even death. You will not recieve any marks until you are ready to meet them, so it is not advisable to wait for a better time. Please speak to your local representative about grants if you believe your soulmate is far enough away that you will need to travel to them outside of your current financial capabilities. Certain arrangements may be made on a case-to-case basis.

[Image ID: A sketchy digital painting of a brown weasel looking cute. This is a character named Kit-Kat from Etta's upcoming middle grade novel, Runaways. He's drawn on lined school paper and has doodles around it saying "Best boy" with hearts. It's been cropped from a larger image as a teaser. End image ID.]
I was reminded during the write in last night that I should plug my mailing-list more often so here's why you should sign up!
YOU GET FREE STUFF WHEN YOU SIGN UP: If you like reading about mythology, legends, fairy tales, folklore, you get an exclusive lore document about the world of Runaways!
SERIOUSLY THO THE LORE: I have an extensive analysis talking about the difference between adapting a story in the public domain vs taking inspiration for world building purposes. This document is 16 pages long, and it includes reference numbers to the Stith Thompson tale type index, illustrations, and in-universe "field journal" excerpts. I'm super proud of this meta and genuinely don't talk about it enough.
YOU GET EXCERPTS: I don't post my final draft type work publicly anymore due to the AI scraping, but the mailing list gets to see things like song lyrics and full passages before anyone else.
YOU GET EARLY UPDATES AND BEHIND THE SCENES: I've got a lot of big projects in the works I've been tight-lipped about on social media for various reasons, but the mailing list gets to know what's actually going on IRL and what's coming up.
YOU GET SPECIAL PRIVILEGES: Want to see me cover a topic on my blog? Ask me directly! Want to get dibs on ARCs, preorders, see the cover design and possible illustrations, and other big updates associated with the Runaways release? Signing up is free.
I ONLY EMAIL YOU ONCE A MONTH: I swear I don't have the bandwidth for anything more than that.

Good luck on your source-finding journey friend! I am so interested in the process of tracking down sources and documents, but I've never done it before. Can you explain your process or do you have any tips?
Hi anon! Thanks for the ask. This is not a research guide, just some pointers I've found useful (as someone trained in other forms of academic research who learned how to work with archives).
First things first – forget google. Google scholar is decent for tracking down secondary academic sources (though hardly comprehensive), but with a few notable exceptions, archive databases that hold primary source materials are not indexed on normal search engines. Instead, you need to spend some time finding the repositories where your sought-after documents are likely to be, and then running your searches inside those.
The one thing google is useful for is to see if someone has already gone to the trouble of formally publishing the documents you're looking for. You'll want to search for things like "papers of...", "correspondence of...", or "writings of...". If you get a result, see if you can find that book on google books, archive.org, or at your local library (definitely don't check on libgen, because downloading a free book would be bad and awful and terrible of you 🤫).
These collected editions are not always reliable (especially older ones, since there was a lot of gratuitous editing going on). So, to be rigorous, you still want to see if you can find the actual, original source.
The easiest starting point for tracking those down is to find a secondary source that has already done most of the work for you. A reliable book or academic article will cite its primary sources, which should include which archive or collection the author found the document in.
If you are immeasurably lucky, you will find that respoitory online, and it will have a fully-digitised collection their holdings, and a reliable, searchable index based on keywords and transcripts. In that case, just type in your search term and enjoy.
(Note: the search functionality on these sites is often very wonky. Always try several versions of your search term, and play around with the filters and boolean operators.)
But those sites are rare. If you're less (but still a little bit) lucky, you'll find an academic institution or research archive that has at least published a document called a finding aid. There should be one for each grouping of documents in their holdings (for example for one historical figure's papers, or for a specific bequest) which gives a summary of the contents and is used for on-site tracking of the physical items (these will have call or accession numbers, location of the documents, etc.). Finding aids vary immensely in quality and level of detail ("miscellaneous other papers" my behated).
If you do indeed find a record for something you want to look at (and it hasn't been digitised), you need to figure out the process for requesting the document. This varies hugely depending on the institution (with differing lead times, querying methods, fees, limitations, and ensuing publication/reproduction rights) and is virtually always explained somewhere on their website. Mostly, they'll ask you to complete a form, or to send an email following a template. Don't expect a quick reply, and don't expect digital copies to be free.
Of course, this all presumes that the instituton that holds your materials 1) has a website and 2) has actually put useful things on it. Sometimes, you just need to enquire. I followed up on a footnote I saw in a hundred-year-old book that gave the location of some letters, found the local town library that was mentioned and emailed them about it. (Yes, they had them, and the librarian I corresponded with was simply delightful and very eager to help.)
Be courteous and clear when you email these folks. They will almost always want to know your name, your contact details, a clear description of what you are looking for (the more detail the better), a summary of your research project, and whether you intend to publish the documents you are requesting – so save a few back-and-forth emails by providing that information upfront. They are very happy to answer requests from independent or hobby researchers, so don't let that hold you back.
The least helpful of all, in my experience, are holders of private collections. They simply don't have any incentive to take time out of their day to help you, and usually aren't trained librarians or archivists so they don't know what they have, or where it is, or how to give you access. (I tear up sometimes when I think of all the documents that are lying in some manor house attic, because someone forgot they were there or thought no one would be interested.) Sometimes they will respond (eventually) to an email query; often it's just a black hole.
I hope that helps! In all frankness, much of this is dull, repetitive work that all-too-frequently leads to dead ends (but it's so good when you succeed). Persistence and patience are key.
#feel free to ask follow-up questions#especially something more specific because this is a very broad topic#and i encourage the skilled research folks on here to add their own tips#historical research

A fascinating and intriguing book: Consciousness - The Concept of Mind: And the Transcendence of Conventional Thought by Anton Sammut
Review
Consciousness: The Concept of Mind and the Transcendence of Conventional Thought is a fascinating book that explores the nature and functions of the human mind/consciousness from various perspectives, including philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, and spirituality. The author, Anton Sammut, presents a comprehensive and coherent account of how consciousness emerges from the interaction of the mind, brain, the body, and the environment, and how it shapes our experience of reality. He also discusses the different states and levels of consciousness, such as wakefulness, sleep, dreaming, hypnosis, meditation, and mystical experiences, and how they relate to the concept of mind.
One of the themes, among the many, that fascinated me the most and that I found quite useful in everyday life, is the one that explores the various levels of consciousness that every human being has. The author presents 4 types of mental paradigms that encompass different levels of consciousness and are classified as follows:
The first level is the existential one, where most people operate in a state of low awareness and are driven by their instincts, emotions, and ego. This level ranges from 2% to 20% of consciousness and corresponds to the beta brainwave frequency (12-30Hz). This is the level of survival, reaction, and conformity.
The second level is the advanced one, where some people develop a higher degree of rationality, creativity, and morality. This level ranges from 20% to 40% of consciousness and corresponds to the alpha and delta brainwave frequencies (8-12Hz and 0.5-4Hz). This is the level of analysis, innovation, and ethics.
The third level is the transcendental one, where a few people transcend the limitations of their linear thinking and access a more holistic and intuitive mode of perception. This level ranges from 50% to 70% of consciousness and corresponds to the delta and gamma brainwave frequencies (0.5-4Hz and 25-100Hz). This is the level of synthesis, intuition, and spirituality.
The fourth one is the enlightened level, where a very small fraction of people attain the ultimate state of self-realization and enlightenment. This level ranges from 60% to 100% of consciousness and corresponds to the gamma brainwave frequency (25-100Hz). This is the level of unity, bliss, and wisdom.
The author provides an in-depth analysis of each level of consciousness, explaining its characteristics, challenges, and potentials. He also offers practical suggestions on how to enhance one’s consciousness and achieve a higher level of spiritual well-being, inner peace, and happiness. A remarkable fact is that each person has a unique level that defines him and can effortlessly assess to which one he belongs and what steps he can take to elevate his level of Consciousness.
This book is written in a clear and engaging style that makes it accessible to a wide range of readers. It is also well-referenced and documented with extensive notes and a bibliography and index that provides further information and resources for those who want to delve deeper into the topic. This book is not only a scientific investigation, but also a personal journey that invites the reader to discover the inner meaning of consciousness and the divine potential within themselves.

As he got his portions and came down to the tea, Wind smiled at him. To her surprise, he smiled back. “I have heard good things of you, Lady Wind Whisper. Thank you for the tea.”
Over their quiet dinner, Hanar told Wind, “We will be up later than usual with the evening dancing. Tia and Midnight must leave for Canterlot and the service of the rest of the kingdom tomorrow.”
Just after dinner, Tia, Midnight and Marchhare retired to Marchhare's caravan to work through the Kingdom's business that really would not wait for the next day. It was not long before they emerged from the caravan, all the cases sealed and ready for delivery back to Canterlot.
Whitly took the cases and spread his wings, flying back to Canterlot. Midnight took her place in the center of the dancing green, the Skydancers gathered just behind her.
Wind saw Rom gathering at the usual place for musicians and realized with a jolt what she had been hearing during the fair but not all playing in one place. Five different kinds of Rom Lyre, three different flutes, and four different types of the Rom's simple seeming but complex to play drum sets.
They swung into an ethereal and rich version of Wind's Wings. Luna had no coaching for this dance. Her elegant hoof and wing work flowed seamlessly with the brilliant flourishes of her sash work. The Sky Dancers, staying on the ground behind her followed her lead in an amazing display. Wind began to truly appreciate how important her contribution of sways and slides were to the Rom. The Sky Dancers, following Midnight's lead, were even incorporating them into their wing work as she made the sways and slides with her whole body, including her wonderfully big and active wings.
She noticed that even Tia, while playing her beautiful big Moro Lyre, was moving her head and horn in gentle sways.
The whole dance session lasted for nearly the entire night. Wind, watching carefully, caught a few cracks in Marchhare's facade of not being able to dance any but couples dances. Getting carried away by the music, several times, he did very well for a bit before catching himself and suddenly becoming four left hooves again. She chuckled to herself when she saw it.
Hanar saw Wind notice and winked at her.
Finally, they all broke for a nap before full dawn overtook them.
Breakfast was the usual madhouse of horses vying for their favorite treats. All of Midnight's Munchies leftovers were on the board along with the usual fare! Wind was serving the Rom black tea and Hanar was in the serving line with her, as usual.
A pegasus landed outside of the camp and requested, “Permission to enter the camp, Your Grace, Marchhare?”
Marchhare looked up in surprise. “Baron Whitly! Of course, come in and join us for breakfast! What has brought you back from Canterlot?”
He joined the line while replying, “I did know that Their Highnesses will be returning to Canterlot today. Inquiry among the others in the messaging pool told me that they will not leave until the Rom have been packed up and the Rom are ready to leave.”
He sighed, “To make up some for my gaffe yesterday eve, I have returned to see if I may be of some assistance in your chores.
“I admit that, as a baron, I always let my towns manage their fairs and your comings and goings. It was only yesterday that I realized that there is far more to a fair than simply entertainment and trade. I wish to amend that by being such help as I may.”
A smiling Tia reached under the table to a hidden tray and gave him a nice twist with a tan colored topping.
Midnight stared at it in near shock! “Tia! You gave him one of your private stash of butterscotch goodies!”
Tia nodded gently. “When we have a baron this good, some sacrifices must be made.”
Wind listened with amusement and whispered to Hanar, “I heard that getting between Tia and her butterscotch topped goodies was listed as suicide by trampling!”
A giggling Hanar snorted, “Pretty close! Whitly has certainly made a good impression on Tia and Midnight.”
The meal done, the Rom set about tearing down their booths and stowing away the parts. To everyone's surprise, Whitly carefully followed directions and was actually a considerable help in getting everything properly cleaned and stored.
When all was done, Tia and Midnight went into Marchhare's caravan. Princesses Celestia and Luna emerged. They bade Baron Whitly to fly in formation with them on their return to Canterlot.
Wind took her place in the hitch beside Hanar and Pulled as the cadence was called. The serene trance of Road Songs, Pulling and the simple enjoyment of being beside Hanar overtook her. She was actually surprised when the whole caravan pulled into a Wayside to stop for lunch.
She found the others examining the Wayside wood ricks where the free firewood was supposed to be. She saw several stout ribbon like ties hanging from a holder made for them but there was no fire wood in the frame made to hold it. There were recent tracks of a loaded wagon and two ponies leading from rick out to the road.
Wind shook her head and asked Hanar, “Do ponies steal the firewood very often? It does not look like the wayside ran out, not with those tracks.”
Hanar giggled, “The old 'you need firewood, we got some cheap' ploy. I haven't seen that for several years.”
Wind pointed to the ties hanging from the side of the wood rick. “What are those?”
Rose was sort of chuckling as she answered, “Those are called benefice ties. When the wood cutters leave the wood, it is bundled in those ties. The Royal Road Police count them and seal them. That is how the wood cutters get paid. Whoever took this wood took it ties and all.”
Wind looked around and wanted to know, “Why isn't anyhorse upset by this? How will we cook our lunch?”
It was Hoof Dancer who snorted, “For one thing, the thieves will be along directly to sell us some firewood that they “just happen to have to spare,” and for the other, my dear dead donkey of a husband has already gone to fetch the RRP from both the Haymarket North and Haymarket South Road section stations.”
Wind looked around and, as she was watching, she saw old Marchhare sort of fade into view. One moment he was not there, the next he was standing quietly beside Hoof Dancer. And grinning.
Wind now understood enough to know that the grin was not a good sign for somepony.
True to the prediction, to the creak and grumble of poorly made wheels, a dray wagon loaded with bundled firewood pulled into the wayside. As the drovers, an off yellow pony and an orange one, sort of sneered, “See you gots you a problem. This here wayside done run outen wood. Tell you what. Give us a big ol lunch and 20 gold bits and we can spare you the wood to cook it up. No coin and no lunch, you gets no wood. Got that?”
Black Lotus pointed up with her horn, just before her magic grabbed both of the miscreants and lifted them off the ground. The pegasus, in the blue uniform of the Royal Road Police, saw that the situation on the ground was under control and spiraled in to a landing.
The drum of galloping ponies could be heard coming from the road. Two RRP ponies entered the south entrance and two more came in from the north. Seeing that the ponies that they were after were going nowhere, they slowed and homed in on the wagon.
They had out their note pads and were already sorting out the load of stolen firewood. One of the five came over to Black Lotus and respectfully asked her to continue holding the crooked ponies but let them down to where the RRP could properly manacle them. She did and they did. After that, she let go of them entirely.
One, with Sargent's stripes, politely asked Marchhare, “Your Grace, we have done assessing the stolen wood and verifying by the tie seals that it came from here. Would your band do us the favor of restacking it into the rick?”
For an answer, they all went to the wagon and even the small foals lifted out a bundle or two and took them to the rick and neatly stacked them. Wind, seeing what they were doing, joined them, sinking her claws into a bundle and carrying it to the growing stack in the rick.
Once the wood was all stacked properly and accounted for, Hoof Dancer used her magic to take two bundles and open the benefice ties. She neatly hung them with the others already hanging there and brought over the firewood.
Lunch was soon cooking over the coals.
Black Lotus took the liberty of speaking to the RRP officers quietly before they removed the prisoners and their wagon. Doing a quiet little happy dance, she told the rest of the band, “I have invited the RRP who just helped us to come join us for lunch as soon as they have finished dealing with the thieves.”
Wind wandered over to the boxed spring that supplied the wayside with water. She began to pick a string bag full of bank sorrel and cresses. Hanar was soon by her side, helping.
“Thank you, Wind. These will make a lovely fresh salad.”
Wind smiled as her hand busily gathered the small bounty. “I am trying to leave some to regrow the patch, like you have showed me. I am puzzled by something though. With as many freight wagons and ponies who use the waysides, why are there any of these plants left?”
Hanar grinned a little sideways as she replied, “Laziness. Comes of being in a hurry. That sounds like a contradiction but it is not. They come in and drop their hitch and get some water and rush back to their camp to boil the oats that they brought for rations. They don't look for anything fresh outside of the grazing meadow. Plus, when they see us picking any, they are too proud to 'eat that Rom stuff. Those horses will eat anything!' That attitude cuts them off from some lovely eating and saves us some excellent salads.”
Wind chuckled at the reasoning but asked, “I managed to sort out what plant makes that delicious Rom black tea. Why haven't ponies stumbled onto it?”
Hanar happily informed her, “They have. Many times. It has to be treated and dried just right. If you don't, it makes all equines sick to their tummies.”
The sheer elegance of the notion nearly stunned Wind! She chortled, “Somehorse among the Rom is a true sadist! If I had not seen how many of the ponies treat us, I would wonder if they deserved it.”
Hanar nodded agreement, adding, “There are a few who treat us well and we do return the favor. We still don't let them know our secrets. They could tell without meaning to.”
Soon they were done. Returing to camp, they busied themselves with preparing and properly dressing the salad.

Whenever Zarina finds herself in stressful situations or in extremely stressful conditions where she cannot keep herself fully away from stressors, she may resort to several different approaches to deal with it: alcohol (hard liquor specifically), smoking (in heavy doses), or working out (and it's noticed to be far more aggressive as she's training kicks and hits).
It's been noticed that she takes out some hard liquor like cognac or whiskey. She usually only indulges in those types at the bars or late evenings when she's relaxing by the fireplace. However, if she takes it out after coming back from work, meeting, or mission, it's a signal that she is indeed stressed and tries to somehow soothe her mind with a taste of burning on the back of her throat. She doesn't get drunk, she doesn't go ham with it, she simply sits in her office in silence while taking sips while trying to understand what kind of solution she can find to her issues.
The same goes for smoking, Zarina remains quiet and silent. One of the best showcases of her stressing out is her being silent. Unlike Victor who gets aggravated in stressful situation, Sokolova is eerily silent and prefers to remain alone to deal with her stress. If she chooses smoking to deal with her stress, she is seen standing outside and staring into nothing. Similarly to drinking alcohol in her office, her mind continues to try and figure out solutions to problems because that's the only way her mind deals with stress: solutions.
Working out is the only time when she doesn't think of solutions per se, as she's fully spiking the stress through kicks, hits, and ways to make her body work instead of her mind. Well, that's a lie, she still thinks of solutions, but working out helps with mostly occupying herself with physical activity. Some noticed that after such workouts, her hands might be hurt from how hard she was hitting the dummy. However, due to her mostly wearing gloves, it's rarely noticed and her regeneration clears those small scratches up rather quickly. If someone tries to speak with her during her work out to alleviate her stress, she may sound much more aggressive and her voice comes out akin to a growl. It doesn't matter who tries to refer to her, it comes out like that from her basically punching the stress out and it's the state of mind she's in. Depending on who speaks with her, she may either change her tune or remain looking rather unhappy with whoever interrupted her.
As for body language tips that showcase her stress in daily life, she doesn't usually show them. As in, her body language signals change depending on who she spends her time with to make them believe those are tell-tale signs of her stress. Though, she may start either to massage the bridge of her nose or start to tap her index finger against the table while working on some reports (and the reason for her stress may not be the documents themselves). Zarina's too good at hiding she's stressed through her body language, but those who are close to her would be able to notice that she does become quieter, looking to the side or thinking about something quite deeply.
#❄ ― HEADCANONS. ╱ the cold, pure flame of conquering is what I was destined for.#im stressing out and so lets talk about zarina's stressing out

Do you have sources for any of the things you've been talking about lately (the different programming types, hc-did, basically all of it)? I'd really like to do some more reading on this stuff but I've found a grand total of One book and most of the rest of the stuff is social media posts with no references, or references to other social media posts :(
Our top three “sources” are usually our system, late night conversations with irl friends, and social media.
The biggest issue isn’t actually a lack of resources, but a lack of good resources. Survivors put out material before they realize they got something wrong. The clinicians that work with us are the same, and the first generation of papers were shots in the dark and fear of lies that hadn’t been exposed yet.
There’ll be a lot about a big, networked Cult, usually either the Illuminati or Luciferians. Plenty of government conspiracy theories, references to projects that sometimes do get evidence. Then there’s the regular racism and Christian lens.
If you’re looking for overviews and definitions, they got taken down here are some good websites:
https://www.ra-free.org/complexities-of-identifying-ritual-abuse - not a lot of information, lists studies and professionals
https://endritualabuse.org/full-article-index/ - lots of good articles, some really helpful, others had me cocking my head
https://www.cherylrainfield.com/articles-cult-abuse/ - more about the author than the issue, some useful links on that page
There used to be more. Two others, one about spin programming and one about colors, are still up, but a little out there. You’ll know if you see them
Some books with more details. Not good books, just books:
https://ia803208.us.archive.org/34/items/BecomingYourself.Miller/BecomingYourself.Miller.pdf - the single best thing I’ve found and I still have complaints, this version is unformatted but free
https://ia803400.us.archive.org/28/items/chainless-slaves-annotated/Chainless%20Slaves%20-%20Annotated.pdf - I didn’t like it, lots of certain language for iffy concepts, has a list of programs and alter roles
https://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/document?repid=rep1&type=pdf&doi=89e823aedc9c69ffd8d715757c86878af27c37c9 - not a fan, also lots of funky ideas and hate-based rhetoric, has lists of programs and cues
There are lots of survivor autobiographies and outsider opinions, but I don’t have free links to those
Keep in mind that getting out of a high control group sucks ass, and most accounts (even if they claim to have healed) have the remnants of the abusive ideologies.
I still prefer hearing from other survivors what happened, and I find it easier to validate people I can easily contact. I’ll keep the webpage if I find anything I can’t just Google, but this is what I can pull right now.
It’s not great, buddy, but it’s something.

What about Arcanine for a history check?
Pokemon History! | Closed
“Nice! Obviously I'd have great taste in pokemon. Let's talk about my best friend."
He waved to Rotom display to show pictures while he explained.
"Number 59 in the Kanto entry, Arcanine, clasified as the legendary pokemon. Highly revered as being a Proud and Loyal companion to many trainers, an unwavering justice that follows it well beyond its many stories being the go-to for many that can tame them." He took a seat and continued. Showing Both Kanto growlithe and Hisuian version.
" It has not changed much from its ancestors, form wise. There are documents showing a previous form, the hisuian shows sign of a stronger red and more solid grey being closer to it's vastly older counter part predating them both." The screen switched to two stone like creatures that show to look like rock versions of the pokemon in question.
Well sort of.
"Here's a pic of my journey up at mt.silver discovering one of them and they were cool enough to let me pet them. They were guarding a temple at our first stop before heading up the higher, It may not seem like much but they were HUGE and confirmed some of our beliefs and suspicions of these gargantuan pokemon. That being..."
He showed his index finger.
"
They came in pairs
they were unyielding and would ALWAYS stay outside the residence they were guarding. Mayorly temples and palaces
They are still fire type...Well kind of.
You see they actually come in pairs but both fulfil a different purpose, I knew the one with it's mouth open used fire in out texts they mention extinguishing evil spirits with sacred flames. But the other would consume the evil spirits and cast ice keeping them trapped. They also have psychic attacks from my knowledge but I can neither confirm or deny it by looking at them fight. An as mentioned they belong to the temple so even if I could catch them it wouldn't work.
final verdict is one is rock/fire the other is rock/ice respectively.
"
The rotom switched to more pictures.
"Anyway, here are some historical proof of figures presumably given as gifts for the royal family. Though while I continue to call them arcanine, they are not referred to as such in text. Name is still unknow but some variants have been Koensei or Arcane but further research is required."
"Arcanine's we know now run in prairies and are very rarely seen alone which come back down to it's roots of primarily being a pack pokemon and breed as they always were both male and female. Increasing the population, being sent to those with higher status as gifts and eventually they began to florish the land with their presence and become a household name."
Blue seemed pretty pleased.
" I have more evidence but that's the generalization. Feel free to come by anytime for more info."

BENEFITS OF SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION YOU NEED TO KNOW
SEO is the method of optimizing content that can be explored through the outcomes of a search engine. Web pages are like Modern-Era libraries. They store documents on websites rather than stocking physical books. When you type a question into a web browser, it checks its database of all the pages and tries to show the most useful decisions. To do so, it utilizes an algorithm that executes a search, indexing, and ranking. Nothing understands exactly how these frameworks operate.
Here are most compelling SEO benefits are mentioned below:
Offers an Enhanced User Experience
There are different ways to make your website better and improve user experience. It includes offering appropriate information to the audience, related pictures, or videos to support text, easy-to-follow website content, and a mobile-friendly website setup. It all leads to improved client experience.
An SEO expert can help you exactly with your SEO requirements. When you do not get leads from your SEO strategies, then you will need to review your practices.
Prevents Cost for Paid Ads
Google’s ethical results are based mostly on what is described to be the most matching outcome for any individual query.
This means it will continue to draw traffic to the website for months or years after you post it until you have built a page that perhaps the web browser finds worthy of guiding its users to. Exploring and making high-quality content, yet, calls for an expense.
Boosts Content Sharing on Social Media
SEO plays a main part in what you see on social media. User-shared content on social networking sites is directly linked to individual SEO rules such as the title tags and meta definitions.
An SEO strategist, in a meeting with your advertising and promotions team, will help you guide this method.
Increased site usability
To make your website easier to navigate for search engines, SEO helps to make your website more navigable for users as well. SEO consists of rearranging the site’s architecture and connections to make pages within the website more comfortable to discover and navigate.
It is not easy for search engines to crawl your sites and find pages makes it easier for users to find your information on your websites also.
The results are long-lasting
Investing in online ads will bring results, but they will last only as long as your investment does. Money spent on SEO will stay longer since it will get you some new clients over a longer period.
Your goal is for your business to take higher-ranking positions in SERP and stay there long enough to grow brand awareness and improve conversion.
Help your small find new clients
Did you know that the development of businesses that have a website is two times quicker than for those who are not online? No matter what kind of enterprise you are in, you should know that your customers are online, waiting to be found.
The main goal of marketing is to get you new clients. SEO does the same but uses various methods and strategies. It helps you reach a reasonable ranking that means more targeted visits and consequently – more clients!
If you need help applying these tips and are ready to watch your business expand as you grow a loyal fan base, then it is propounded to work with the experts of an SEO company in Chandigarh.

What is Solr – Comparing Apache Solr vs. Elasticsearch

In the world of search engines and data retrieval systems, Apache Solr and Elasticsearch are two prominent contenders, each with its strengths and unique capabilities. These open-source, distributed search platforms play a crucial role in empowering organizations to harness the power of big data and deliver relevant search results efficiently. In this blog, we will delve into the fundamentals of Solr and Elasticsearch, highlighting their key features and comparing their functionalities. Whether you're a developer, data analyst, or IT professional, understanding the differences between Solr and Elasticsearch will help you make informed decisions to meet your specific search and data management needs.
Overview of Apache Solr
Apache Solr is a search platform built on top of the Apache Lucene library, known for its robust indexing and full-text search capabilities. It is written in Java and designed to handle large-scale search and data retrieval tasks. Solr follows a RESTful API approach, making it easy to integrate with different programming languages and frameworks. It offers a rich set of features, including faceted search, hit highlighting, spell checking, and geospatial search, making it a versatile solution for various use cases.
Overview of Elasticsearch
Elasticsearch, also based on Apache Lucene, is a distributed search engine that stands out for its real-time data indexing and analytics capabilities. It is known for its scalability and speed, making it an ideal choice for applications that require near-instantaneous search results. Elasticsearch provides a simple RESTful API, enabling developers to perform complex searches effortlessly. Moreover, it offers support for data visualization through its integration with Kibana, making it a popular choice for log analysis, application monitoring, and other data-driven use cases.
Comparing Solr and Elasticsearch
Data Handling and Indexing
Both Solr and Elasticsearch are proficient at handling large volumes of data and offer excellent indexing capabilities. Solr uses XML and JSON formats for data indexing, while Elasticsearch relies on JSON, which is generally considered more human-readable and easier to work with. Elasticsearch's dynamic mapping feature allows it to automatically infer data types during indexing, streamlining the process further.
Querying and Searching
Both platforms support complex search queries, but Elasticsearch is often regarded as more developer-friendly due to its clean and straightforward API. Elasticsearch's support for nested queries and aggregations simplifies the process of retrieving and analyzing data. On the other hand, Solr provides a range of query parsers, allowing developers to choose between traditional and advanced syntax options based on their preference and familiarity.
Scalability and Performance
Elasticsearch is designed with scalability in mind from the ground up, making it relatively easier to scale horizontally by adding more nodes to the cluster. It excels in real-time search and analytics scenarios, making it a top choice for applications with dynamic data streams. Solr, while also scalable, may require more effort for horizontal scaling compared to Elasticsearch.
Community and Ecosystem
Both Solr and Elasticsearch boast active and vibrant open-source communities. Solr has been around longer and, therefore, has a more extensive user base and established ecosystem. Elasticsearch, however, has gained significant momentum over the years, supported by the Elastic Stack, which includes Kibana for data visualization and Beats for data shipping.
Document-Based vs. Schema-Free
Solr follows a document-based approach, where data is organized into fields and requires a predefined schema. While this provides better control over data, it may become restrictive when dealing with dynamic or constantly evolving data structures. Elasticsearch, being schema-free, allows for more flexible data handling, making it more suitable for projects with varying data structures.
Conclusion
In summary, Apache Solr and Elasticsearch are both powerful search platforms, each excelling in specific scenarios. Solr's robustness and established ecosystem make it a reliable choice for traditional search applications, while Elasticsearch's real-time capabilities and seamless integration with the Elastic Stack are perfect for modern data-driven projects. Choosing between the two depends on your specific requirements, data complexity, and preferred development style. Regardless of your decision, both Solr and Elasticsearch can supercharge your search and analytics endeavors, bringing efficiency and relevance to your data retrieval processes.
Whether you opt for Solr, Elasticsearch, or a combination of both, the future of search and data exploration remains bright, with technology continually evolving to meet the needs of next-generation applications.

ChatGPT Search vs Google Search: Head-to-Head Comparison
In our quest for information, two dominant forces have emerged: the familiar, vast index of Google Search and the conversational, generative power of ChatGPT (or similar AI-powered search experiences). While both aim to help you find answers, their fundamental approaches and strengths differ significantly. Understanding these differences is key to knowing which tool to wield for what purpose.
Let's put them head-to-head.
Google Search (Traditional Web Search): The Librarian of the Internet
Google Search (and other traditional search engines like Bing, DuckDuckGo) functions much like a meticulous librarian for the entire World Wide Web.
How it works:
It crawls and indexes billions of webpages.
When you type a query, it matches keywords and analyzes links to find the most relevant existing documents on the web.
It then presents you with a list of links (Search Engine Results Page - SERP) to these original sources.
Strengths:
Comprehensiveness: Unparalleled access to the vastness of the internet, including niche blogs, forums, news articles, and academic papers.
Source Verification: You get direct links to original sources, allowing you to easily verify information, check authors, and explore context.
Real-time Information: Excellent for breaking news, live scores, current weather, and rapidly changing events.
Diverse Content Types: Easily finds images, videos, shopping results, maps, and specific file types.
Fact-Checking: Its core design encourages cross-referencing multiple sources for factual accuracy.
Weaknesses:
Information Overload: Can be overwhelming, requiring manual sifting through many links to find the exact answer.
Requires Sifting: You often have to click through multiple pages to synthesize information.
Less Good for Complex Synthesis: Struggles with questions requiring a creative summary or comparison across many documents without explicit instructions.
ChatGPT Search (Conversational AI Search): The Knowledgeable Conversationalist
ChatGPT (and its ilk, particularly when integrated with search capabilities like Microsoft Copilot or Google's Search Generative Experience - SGE) operates on a different paradigm. It's a language model that can process and generate human-like text.
How it works:
It draws upon a massive dataset it was trained on (which includes web data, books, articles, etc.) to understand your query.
It then synthesizes information from its learned knowledge to generate a direct, conversational answer.
When integrated with live search (e.g., in Copilot or SGE), it can perform real-time web searches and then summarize/synthesize those findings into a cohesive response, often citing its sources.
Strengths:
Direct Answers & Synthesis: Provides concise, direct answers, often summarizing complex topics or comparing concepts without you having to click through multiple links.
Contextual Understanding & Dialogue: Can maintain context over a conversation, allowing for follow-up questions and deeper exploration of a topic.
Creative Content Generation: Excels at brainstorming, writing drafts (emails, code, stories), and rephrasing text.
Concept Explanation: Can explain complex ideas in simpler terms, akin to a tutor.
Coding Assistance: Great for generating code snippets, debugging, and explaining programming concepts.
Weaknesses:
Potential for "Hallucinations": Can confidently provide inaccurate or fabricated information, especially if the training data is ambiguous or the query is outside its core knowledge.
Dated Information (for some models): Unless directly integrated with live web search, its knowledge cutoff means it might not have the latest real-time data.
Limited Source Transparency (historically): Earlier versions didn't provide sources, making verification difficult. Newer versions are improving on this.
Less Suited for Fact Verification: While it can cite sources now, the primary interaction is conversational, not source-exploration.
The Verdict: Complementary Powers
Ultimately, ChatGPT Search and Google Search are not replacements for each other; they are complementary tools.
Use Google Search when you need:
The absolute latest information (breaking news, current events).
To verify facts and cross-reference multiple original sources.
Specific websites, images, videos, or shopping results.
To explore a wide range of opinions or diverse perspectives.
Use ChatGPT Search (or similar AI-powered search) when you need:
A quick summary or explanation of a complex topic.
To brainstorm ideas or generate creative content.
Help with writing, coding, or language tasks.
To engage in an interactive dialogue to refine your understanding.
To synthesize information from multiple sources into a coherent answer.
The future of search likely lies in a seamless integration of both, where AI's conversational prowess enhances the breadth and real-time nature of traditional web indexing. For now, learning when to pick up the librarian's index and when to chat with the knowledgeable assistant will make you a far more effective information explorer.
