i know in retellings draco always befriends hermione because he's a nerd or whatever but this morning i was thinking of a retelling where draco befriends ron because he literally just bribes him. like he sees that harry won't bother with him and lbr no one wanted to be friends with first year hermione but ron seems like he'd be easily bought and draco's dad told him those are the easiest people to get on your side. and also wouldn't it be fun to steal away harry potter's anointed best friend?

so he's like "i'm willing to forget you laughed at my name on the train" and literally just buys ron things until he stops being indignant. he buys him a new wardrobe. endless sweets and toys. he writes to his mother like "hello i'm working on something here can u help" and narcissa is immediately on board.

and ron totally is easily bought. he really is. he pretends to still hate draco but also his mother taught him some manners so it's only polite to accept the little git's gifts. his siblings are sick with jealousy, it's great.

and slowly ron's like "maybe he's not so bad" and progresses to "yes he's weird but i've gotten him to stop with the slurs so" to actual friendship that harry and hermione eventually come around to, too.

Idk if anyone's played around with this idea but post-AGIT clone-body Dan visits Amity Park where Dash mistakes him for the real Danny and tries to bully him

which is a huge mistake

because Dan happily gives him the thrashing of a lifetime and strolls away in a really good mood.

Dash tries to blame Danny but no one believes him because Danny Fenton, being able to beat up Dash Baxter?? You've seen how small that kid is right? Dash stop messing around, you got hurt doing something super embarrassing or illegal didn't you? Come on man what was the actual thing you did come on you probably realize that saying Fenton beat you up makes you look worse than whatever thing you probably did right?

Cue Dash trying to prove that Danny is secretly stronger than he actually is, only to be foiled at every turn because Danny and friends caught on to what he's trying to do. Maybe Vlad foils him too cause Dan is supposed to be his responsibility and it was Dan who got Danny into this mess to begin with.

Eventually Dan lets Dash see him with Danny, they explain that Dan is his cousin, but also so Dash doesn't go back to bullying Danny he tells Dash that if he ever touches his cousin again Dan will have to take a hand as recompense.

Dash never bothers Danny again. Maybe he gets to go on a redemption arc where he realizes how trash he's been to everyone below him on the social pecking order and how much those teens hate his guts for it and decides that he wants to change. idk. But he stops harassing Danny.

RE last post about bb Luz and Hunter

Just imagining Belos coming into Hunter's room every night after Luz arrives once he's finally decided he's going to do a murder and that he doesn't need the grimwalkers anymore, only to be dissuaded by the fact Luz is right there curled up asleep on top of him contentedly as he purrs.

This is despite the fact that they do not sleep in the same room and Belos is not entirely sure how she got there from her room and no matter how many locks he puts on both of their doors or guards he assigns she somehow gets in there or Hunter ends up in her room through similar means (it's the vents or guards blatantly collaborating) and just being constantly perplexed at how they constantly end up with each other and how he keeps being outwitted by a four year old and a six year old.

Eventually he gives up on just disappearing Hunter in his sleep and tries doing it in the day which is when the aforementioned meltdown happens but the image of Belos being bested by a four year old has seized my brain.

this is hilarious and delightful. i LOVE the idea of luz and hunter charming their guards. luz keeps going "but WHY can't i see him" with her giant baby doe eyes & her assigned coven guard of the week is like "....you know what. i have no idea." and keeps sneaking her over.

if luz DOESN'T manage to charm her guard of the week, hunter paces fretfully about it and bangs on his door until HIS guard of the week is like oh for fuck's sake. Fine. Let's Go

belos is certain the guards are conspiring despite them swearing they aren't & so he keeps switching them out & luz + hunter KEEP charming them & belos is like. WHAT MAGIC ARE THESE POWERLESS CHILDREN USING. WHAT IS GOING ON

actually. god. i haven't fleshed out much of luz's inner guard (besides hunter, obviously), but what if it's made up mostly of older guards/scouts who broke belos's rules when she was a baby. hunter would still do his due diligence wrt making sure they're steadfastly loyal and have no ulterior motives, but like. hunter like hey. i've known you since i was six and i know you'll do anything for luz.

& these people WELL into their late thirties and forties being like. i've known YOU since YOU were six. and yet somehow you have become my boss.

My opinion on billy hargrove as a character is so complicated but I think I can boil is down as: he is one of the few realistic interpretations of an imperfect abuse victim where his actions make you uncomfortable and it can be generally agreed he doesn’t take Good actions, but even just the slightest bit of thinking can make you understand why he does what he does. Why it makes sense to him.

You can look at him and go “I empathize with you, I understand you, I could’ve been you if I didn’t have a support system” or even “I WAS you” or “I AM you” and I think the reason he is so controversially liked/disliked is there is some inherent belief that somehow despite the way you were raised, you’re supposed to just inherently know what’s right and wrong. And yeah, once you’re in recovery you tend to learn what’s right and wrong, but nowhere in Billy’s story does anyone ever tell him the way he’s being treated is wrong. No one tells him the actions he’s taking because of it are wrong. Or on the other hand, he is punished so universally for his behavior it is hard to discern when his actions are actually wrong, or if he’s being treated unfairly. He is never shown empathy or understanding until quite literally, the moment he dies.

The message of his story is that when you are isolated, abused, and angry, no one tries to help you until it’s already too late. So yeah, I think anyone can dislike a character for any reason they want, but writing him off as an abusive racist when the quite literally Point Of His Character is “this is what can happen to a person when they are never given kindness/empathy/support and it warps their morals and actions to be violent and/or prejudiced” is just. Wrong. Especially when that includes attacking people who empathize with his character.

Regardless of if you like it or not, there are real people who were like that, are like that, and they deserve love, support, and empathy as much as any “‘perfect’” abuse victim that never perpetuated the cycle. Anger is simply a product of the fear that comes with abuse. Redirecting that anger at others is a learned behavior that comes with coping with that abuse, it’s not right, but you can’t unlearn it unless you’re given a chance to heal. Every abuse victim deserves support and a chance to heal and learn from their past actions and mindsets. Understanding a mindset is not the same thing as condoning it.

So please for the love of god, leave people alone when they write a happy ending for someone they see themselves in.

So you guys remember how after Hinawa was announced as dead, Flint was immediately tossed into jail after he (very understandably) lashes out in his grief. And then by the time he breaks out of jail (not released by a fellow Tazmillian, breaks out with a nail file), the service is already over and she's buried six feet under the dirt with no proper goodbye from her husband or even a glimpse at her or anything???
