A short overview of the Ramshackle prefect and their strange (but kind) horned fellow friend: as seen through the eyes of outsiders.
(A/N: #Malleyuu notes with an OC but feel free to project. We're all delulu here ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭ )
His Henchman is crazy.
Or at least, that's what Grim thinks when he's woken up at sunrise to Yue's bizarre ramblings. Something about the time being 1 AM, then fireflies at night, and a tall, horned figure – is what he takes from their babble amidst his own groans and pleas to return to sleep. He'd think them delirious from slumber, mumbling about another dream, if it weren't for the way Yue's eyes sparkled with genuine interest. Grim yields, in the end, for one of the many things he's learned about his reliable servant is that they can be awfully enthusiastic when it comes to this world's curiosities.
“He told me to call him whatever I want,” Yue continues, ruffling Grim's fur dry with a clean rag. Before he could insert magnificent ideas of his own, they beat him to it with a soft smile on their lips.
“I'm thinking of naming him Nyx: the personification of the night. What do you think?”
“What? Because he only shows up at night?” Like some wacky cryptid.
“Yup.”
He hears his henchman forgo the brush, letting it clatter loudly against the table.
“Hm... Nyx, huh...” Grim falls into thought, testing the name on his tongue like premium quality tuna. He doesn't even notice how Yue ties the striped ribbon around his neck. Triumphant, he turns to them with a grin.
“That's not half-bad, Henchman! It's cool and mysterious. Not as cool and mysterious as me, of course, but I'd say it's a close second!”
“Naturally. I wouldn't dare bestow a name mightier than the Great Grim's.”
Despite the stream of praise his henchman delivers (which he pleasantly basks in), Yue eventually derails, returning to speak of the horned man yet again. What Grim's superior brain gathers is this: One, this Nyx guy is super weird. Two, Yue's interest has been piqued like no other before.
He'll demand some omurice as payment for his counsel later on.
. . .
Malleus has made a friend.
The news was dropped onto Lilia's lap rather unceremoniously when one night, the Young Lord—having just returned from another evening excursion, went to sit with him in the Diasomnia lounge. This time, however, the quaintest of smiles adorned his face... It was an unusual sight but certainly not unwelcome. And much like any doting parent, his curiosity led him to ask.
Malleus had replied with a question of his own.
"Lilia, do you know of the Prefect that resides in Ramshackle Dorm?"
"Yue? Why yes, of course. I've spoken to them once or twice. They made quite a show during the Ceremony."
Yue— Lilia soon comes to learn— is completely unaware of Malleus's identity as a prince and a figure of authority, of power. As such, they bear no fear for him, even going so far as to bestow him a pet name, of all things.
(“Nyx? As in the night spirit? How fitting.")
Thus began the pattern of Lilia covering for Malleus's nighttime absence, not daring to ask nor scold when the prince would return in strange and stranger states.
When he would return to the dormitory partially caked with dirt and mud (a consequence of helping the prefect with their little garden of life.) Or when he would return with a box of homemade cake, a pretty stone from their walks, a drawing of him supposedly made by the prefect's beast, and with inquiries of the complexities of human nature.
Sometimes, Lilia can't help but feel a bit guilty, constantly boring witness to Silver and Sebek's searches into the night.
Yet that sliver of guilt fades, in the end, when Malleus smiles more often than before, when he approaches Lilia in the winter with the request of delivering a Holiday Card.
As he watches the magicless human rush into their abode, card in hand, ghosts and Grim awaiting their entrance...
he has never felt prouder and more grateful for fate.
. . .
From a distance, Vil watches.
He watches as the feared Briar Prince lets a small, feeble human talk his ear off, calm and unresisting, a hand on his chin as he ponders along Yue's barrage of words. He gives the prefect full reign of the conversation. He lets himself be taken away by their stories and details. He lets them speak, which they do.
Just after the horrors, highs, lows, and thrills of the VDC, the two chat as if nothing even happened. The onslaught of it all feels like a fever dream to Vil. First, the mental toll of overblotting, then their loss to RSA's nursery rhyme performance, and now the shocking reveal of Yue (innocent, bold, mundane little Yue) and Malleus Draconia's relationship.
He isn't even sure what to make of it. They're clearly friends, yet Vil can't bring himself to chalk it up to just that. His years and years of showbiz cinema has taught him the ins and outs of body language. He watches. He sees:
There's the smiles on both their faces; cheeks raised taut, dimples carved with genuine laughter. There's that glimmer in Yue's eyes and the odd tenderness of Malleus's own, both gazes locked onto one another with an undisturbed focus. There's the fact that Yue had given him an invitation to the VDC, or that Malleus had fixed the stage partially to show off to the magicless human, or that their hands are currently mere centimeters away from each other.
In the end, Vil averts his gaze, weariness crashing into him all at once and he feels a pair of hands grasp onto his shoulders, keeping him standing. Rook smiles, gentle, knowing, annoying. Vil resigns to his whims and lets his Huntsman guide him back to the Pomefiore Dorm, the chatter of Yue and Malleus and everyone else fading away.
Malleus and Ender Dragon: *flirting and courting each other non stop in kitchen*
Yue: * Still sleepy while carry their baby dragon sibling on their arms whos still also sleepy* *le gasp* Mom! Dad! *cover the baby dragon's eyes* Can you two please not do any dragon court things in the kitchen!? We have a baby dragon here!
Malleus and ender dragon: Sorry... *embaressed*
Yue: Not against having more siblings, but at least try to not did any courting in front of the hatchlings...
Malleus: *Embarrassed as fuck*
Ender dragon: *wants to burry herself in the main island in The End*
E X A C T L Y
yue would take any chance they can get to embarrass them >:3
i know i could never come up with hornton or tsunotarou in my wildest dreams
so yu's nickname for malleus before he finds out who he really is, is something with "yue" (月) in it, because he first met malleus under the moonlight. or something poetic like that
Riddle- Firebender in charge of a team to capture the Avatar. Kind of an Azula character until he realizes that following the rules of the Fire Nation is hurting so many people.
Trey- Riddle's childhood friend, an Earthbender in the Fire Nation. His mother is Fire Nation and father from the Earth Kingdom. He follows Riddle's command until Ace and Deuce convince him otherwise.
Cater- Firebender born in the colonies. He feels a need to fit in with everyone else in his team under Riddle because he was born outside the real Fire Nation. He typically "loses" the Avatar for silly reasons. Eventually becomes a kyoshi warrior.
Ace- Naturally talented firebender who was recently assigned under Riddle, who thinks capturing the Avatar is dumb. He hates Riddle at first, but turns around once they start fighting on the good side.
Deuce- A boy who joined the fire nation army to support his mother after an early life as a street thug. He thinks he's a nonbender but later discovers he's an Airbender, and learns from the Avatar.
Savanaclaw-
Leona- An Earthbending Prince of the Earth Kingdom, second born. He lives in Ba Sing Se, and already knows there's no hope for peace with the Fire Nation, while his brother Falena is convinced they can still win this war with words and compromise.
Ruggie- A nonbending thief in the lower rings of Ba Sing Se who works for Leona, giving him information in exchange for fresh food and money. He informs Leona of the Avatar arriving in Ba Sing Se.
Jack- An Earthbender who lives in the middle ring of Ba Sing Se, and secretly fights in Earthbending rumble battles, though he deems it low. He convinces himself it's for training, and eventually joins Team Avatar to train the Avatar in Earthbending.
Octavinelle-
Azul- The nonbending prince of the Northern Water tribe. He uses his position to form deals with the people of his tribe and hold them in his debt. He takes Yue's place, although he declines to become the moon spirit, it would be bad for business. He does join Team avatar.
Jade- Jade is one of Azul's bodyguards and a waterbender. He's also a bloodbender, though he keeps it hidden. He joins Team Avatar to teach the Avatar waterbending.
Floyd- Floyd is Azul's other bodyguard, and also a waterbender. He is more open about the fact he's a bloodbender, though he's not as good as Jade is. He joins Team avatar as the avatars other waterbending teacher.
Scarabia-
Kalim- Kalim is the waterbending prince of the Sandbenders, and is deemed extremely valuable because of this. He is celebrated for his gift of pulling water from the clouds and ground. He wants to join Team Avatar, but eventually declines because his people need him.
Jamil- Jamil is Kalim's servant, and has to hide the fact that he's an Airbender so Kalim can shine. He secretly trains his bending, and as soon as the Avatar comes to visit, he grabs the chance and leaves with them.
Pomefiore-
Vil- Vil is a nonbender, and the current leader of the kyoshi warriors. He meets up with the Avatar a few times to aid them, and eventually trains Cater personally to become a Kyoshi warrior as well.
Rook- Rook was originally a chi blocking assassin sent to kill Vil, but instead was inspired and joined the kyoshi warriors. He's Vil's second in command, and has sworn to fight alongside him for life.
Epel- Epel was the only earthbender in his village, and wanted so badly to join the Earth Kingdom's army, but instead was swooped up by Vil and forced to join the Kyoshi warriors. He eventually discovers his place there, and is trained by Jack alongside the Avatar.
Ignihyde-
Idia- Idia was part of a fire nation force to infiltrate Ba Sing Se, but his squadron was discovered and wiped out, except for him and his younger brother, who escaped into the crystal caverns and have been hiding ever since. He's a fire and lightning bender, and once found, is taken in by team avatar as their firebending teacher.
Ortho- Ortho was part of the infiltration squad, but was heavily injured. Idia built him new limbs made out of metal and crystal, and he was very excited to join Team Avatar. He used to be a firebender, but had to adjust to his new body and has become a combustion bender.
Diasomnia-
Malleus- Malleus is the prince of the Fire Nation, and at first sees no reason to stop his bloodlines attempt to capture the Avatar and continue the war. He's a powerful fire and lightning bender, but soon realizes his mistakes and takes over the throne to stop it. He is very similar to Zuko.
Lilia- Lilia is Malleus's caregiver and takes the place of Iroh. Most people dismiss his ramblings about knowing previous avatars and seeing spirits, but he's secretly an Airbender.
Silver- Silver is a nonbender and Part of Malleus's guard. He sleeps a lot, and has a much higher spiritual connection than most people, finding he can contact spirits and the Avatar through dreams.
Sebek- Sebek is Malleus's other guard and a firebender who is much better at bending lightning. He at first would never doubt the fire nation, but eventually helps establish a new Era.
Others-
Chenya- Chenya is a waterbender with a high spiritual connection. He was born in the fire nation, and raised by his grandfather, a former fire nation General. He plays no significant role other than showing up and laughing at people with the spirits.
Chiyo- In this au, Chiyo is the Avatar, an Airbender born to defeat the Fire Lord. He picks up Jamil and the others as she goes, and eventually becomes one of the most well known avatars in history.
Atlas- Atlas is a nonbender who works at a tea house, specifically Auntie Wu's. He predicts the future with the help of spirits, though its not always accurate and is very cryptic. He's head over heels for Jade, even though he's a little intimidated by him.
This is very firebender heavy, but I think it fits NRC well.
Possibly Super Cursed Thought: One of the things about my and @stormkitty97 fic universes is that "Disney Adjacent" properties exist as TV shows in the TWST universe as well with loads of differences. For example, the show Doctor Who exists in our TWST universe, since it's on Disney+ and is kinda tied with Disney outside of the UK now. However, there are key differences like the Doctor being a different style of changeling fae from that world instead of a time lord from another planet.
What does this have to do with anything? Well, YuGiOh Sevens and some of the other series, including the original, aired on various different Disney channels over the years. That technically means that YuGiOh exists in our TWST universe. Since Land of Black Sands is an analog for Egypt and is usually ruled by cat beastmen, usually lions or black cats, that would mean that Yugi, Atem and Kaiba would all be lion or cat "furries" in their version of the anime. As someone who had YuGiOh as my first fandom, I have no idea what to think of that. Hell, I'm not even sure if that means the Ishtars are beastpeople in their universe, too.
(Then again, this isn't the first time this has happened. In their version of Cardcaptor Sakura, Yukito and Yue are fox beastman while Syaoran and Meiling are grey wolf beastpeople. Which I don't think is too bad, and I can see that.)
Every time Yue needs extra cash, they simply build a new island with several minigames and sell tickets to the NRC students to play and if anyone wants a PVP match just pay Yuan as they are thursty for a good fight (spoiler: Yuan wins).
Or Yue prepares SPAs sessions for Pomefiore students at the island's oriental-themed hot springs and guesthouses. Azul is crying because Yue and Yuan are being business geniuses and it's obvious that Crowley doesn't get any of the money or privileges at the SPA (he's blacklisted).
yue and yuan got some competition (eyes playful land)
but yeah, they know how to make money if need be, and they're very smart with redstone and such sooo :)
I recently saw some Mihai draws who I didn't remember do/finish
His first draw (I forgot that he wears a light brown shirt and I draw it white haha- but Brown fix better than white idk he's so pale and haves the hair white
This one I'm like think that he's around his 16-17 and he's tired to work and really wants to stop- a little angst 4 him- so- (I only wanted practice ppl crying)
Idk about his hair bc sometimes he has bangs like those pics but on his most recently draw he doesn't have it- idk both styles looks so good on him so-
He's patting his bunnyyy
(Silly Snow-)
A silly pic about Yue on Night Raven College- He looks like a Fae although he's a vampire, so I did the Arcane invitation 4 him and- he's on Diasomnia-
I Draw his mouth bc *He has it* and I was curious about how he looks with it-
In sure that he wears a mix between Epels and Lilias t shirt and a lot of earrings (idk if mystium is useful for jewelvery)
If Yue were a twst character I have my hc
—He's on class 3A
—He's on the Board chess club
—He likes sm Alchemy and History (and ancient enchants) but not P.E, bc he doesn't like the sun
—He touched the piano on his room (sebek likes it)
—His friends would be Silver, Deuce and Riddle, Riddle likes how he play instruments too
—He likes to spend time w/ Lilia bc he likes that he looks like a vampire, and he enjoys talking with bats (those bats who appear on Lilia's battle animations)
