"Be myself. And who would that be?" He set down the glass, leaned back in his chair, and crossed his arms on his chest.

"I don't know. I wish you were the Fool," I said quietly. "But I think we have come too far to go back to that pretense. Yet, if we could, I would. Willingly." I looked away from him. I kicked at the end of a hearth log, pushing it farther into the fire and waking new flames in a gust of sparks. "When I think of you now, I do not even know how to name you to myself. You are not Lord Golden to me. You never truly were. Yet you are not the Fool anymore, either." I steeled myself as the words came to me, unplanned but obvious. How could the truth be so difficult to say?

For a teetering instant, I feared he would misunderstand my words. Then I knew that he would know exactly what I meant by them. For years, he had shown that he understood my feelings, in the silences he kept. Before we parted company, I had to repair, somehow, the rift between us. The words were the only tool I had. They echoed of the old magic, of the power one gained when one knew someone's true name. I was determined. And yet, the utterance still came awkward to my tongue.

"You said once that I might call you 'Beloved', if I no longer wished to call you 'Fool'." I took a breath. "Beloved, I have missed your company."

He lifted a hand and covered his mouth. Then he disguised the gesture by rubbing his chin as if he thought something through carefully. I do not know what expression he hid behind his palm. When he dropped his hand from his face, he was smiling wryly. "Don't you think that might cause some talk about the keep?"

I let his comment pass for I had no answer to it. He had spoken to me in the Fool's mocking voice. Even as it soothed my heart, I had to wonder if it was a sham for my benefit. Did he show me what I wished to see, or what he was?

"Well." He sighed. "I suppose that if you were going to have an appropriate name for me, it would still be Fool. So let us leave it at that, Fitzy. To you, I am the Fool." He looked into the fire and laughed softly. "It balances, I suppose. Whatever is to come for us, I will always have these words to recall now." He looked at me and nodded gravely, as if thanking me for returning something precious to him.

There were so many things I wanted to discuss with him. I wanted to review the Prince's mission and talk about Web and ask him why he now gambled so much and what his wild extravagances meant. But I suddenly wanted to add no more words to what we had said tonight. As he had said, it balanced now. It was a hovering scale between us; I would chance no word that might tip it awry again. I nodded to him and rose slowly. When I reached the door, I said quietly, "Then, good night, Fool." I opened the door and went out into the corridor.

"Good night, beloved," he said from his fireside chair. I shut the door softly behind myself.

Ya’ll don’t know how much I love de-aged Danny prompts and fics.

The fluff, the cuteness, the absolute squishable potential of a little toddler Danny who allows his new siblings to rub at his cheeks as a form of therapy cause it’s so chubby and soft. 🥹

He dreams happily in his own head, unaware of the passage of time and his ever closing in second death, until he wakes up.

His dreams splinter and fade like mist when the sun breaks through the sky.

But there is no comforting warm light for him when he blinks, only a searing, indifferent and blinding white.

He’s scared, and confused, and damaged in a way that makes him want to throw up but nothing comes out.

He isn’t even sure what he does, but he’s not there anymore in the cold white rooms with sharp things and green looming containers. Instead he’s somewhere outside, stumbling on trembling weak legs that he’s certain are too short but he isn’t quite sure because his head hurts and he can’t really see when everything is spinning and — and —

His lip trembles.

There’s a lot of green and red.

He doesn’t think his tummy is supposed to do that.

Is it supposed to be green? Or is it supposed to be red? Was it supposed to be coming out at all? It hurts. It really, really hurts, and he doesn’t know what to do when he doesn’t even know who he had been.

But he tries to gather it up, pushing the reds and green underneath the cover of his open skin.

It’s supposed to be in there… right?

But it’s not staying. Why won’t it stay?

He sniffles, frustration, exhaustion, hurt, and childish confusion mixing itself so spectacularly that he begins to cry.

And then something big and heavy plops itself on the ground with him.

It was so startling that he hiccups into a stop.

He stares, hands wet and his spilling tummy very heavy, but he doesn’t mind it as the very big cat person blinks slowly back at him. Or maybe a bat?

Is it friendly?

It’s crouching very slowly, even speaking in soft words. It must be friendly! He didn’t know bat-cat people existed, but he liked it very much.

He gives his hands to the bat-cat, presenting his insides for help.

Imagine, you moving into an apartment right across from Simon. Right? He introduces himself. You make him cookies, and just overall become friends.

After a few months, you two become close. And you bake him sweets whenever you can for his deployments. And he brings them with him. To show off your amazing baking skills.

And then he buys you a dress. Tells you to try in on. And you do. You come out and he's just like "You're beautiful. Like a Goddess..." and you're just flustered. And after a while of you making conversation, he kisses you

aaaaaaah Simon munching down on your baked goodies and all the boys being jealous of him the first time they get to try some too 🥹

… no because the first time Simon brings along your baked sweets the boys just give him a weird look; trying to figure out for the life of them how he acquired those and if he murdered a sweet old lady to steel her sweets. the next time he brings them along the questioning starts. 

“she’s JUST my neighbor… and her baking’s pretty tasty” his excuses become worse and worse each time, especially how he tries to talk himself out of sharing any of your sweet gifts with them, they’re meant for him after all, but eventually he caves and from then on out the guys bug him about meeting the woman with the magic hands. 

till one day they actually do get to meet the baker behind the goodies, the reason for Simon’s gentle mood and hidden smiles. you’re so smitten with him, it’s hard to miss. Soap gives Simon a loopy grin, telling you to keep baking because he got way nicer since he eats more treats. Gaz seconds that and holds up two thumbs up behind your back for Simon to see. Price pats Simon on the back, “looking forward to her sticking around, she’s good for you” 

that evening Simon asks you to stay over, this time it’s his turn to treat you. he goes all out, cooking you a delicious meal, and seeing him there in the kitchen, your heart warms up so much, what a sight to behold, that giant man with a heart of gold, that you were allowed to call all yours now. 

such a sweet idea, feeding simon is such a deep rooted need i can't uuuugh 💖 and plssssss him calling you a goddess???????????? i'm deceased 🫠

you two are hanging out near the dock, exactly under the tree around there. the atmosphere there is so peaceful and calm just like how you two loved it. you thought of something and suddenly asked him "lu, do you ever kissed someone?"

"huh? no i never kissed someone, why do ya asked?" he ask and tilt his head a little to left to indicating that he was confused. "do you want me to teach you how? um.. for future purposes.."

"yea! teach me how to kiss someone" your cheeks redden a little, you always have that (not-so) little crush on him! "o-okay, so, practice it with.. kissing your arms multiple times! like this" and you began to teach him how to kiss someone with kissing the arm multiple times, left to right, right to left, basicly everywhere

"good, now.. let's try to kiss, lu" "oh? yea of course!" his lips was moving forward indicating you to kiss him, and you kissed him for a second and looking everywhere to ensure that no one is looking at you both kissing.

the day after, you two walked together and buy 2 ice creams for each of you. then you say "hey, lu!" "what ish iht? (meaning : what is it)" he said and his voice muffled because his mouth is full of ice cream, you want to laugh at that but you seriously need to tell him something important, so you don't laugh.

"please don't tell anyone that we.. um.. kissed yesterday at the dock.." he choked. "why?" "just.. don't tell anyone" (you're actually just shy about it and you know how loud luffy can be) "mhm, okay! anyway, what do think.. about me?" "huh? what do you mean?" you're unsure, as a friend or.. as a.. crush? "well, just what do you think about my self?" "you're cute, see you!" you suddenly called by your mother to go home and you fast walking (run) back to your home out of embarrassment.
