thinking of the Jedi's self sufficiency , and specifically about how they sew their own clothes. And I have ideas floating in my head of Anakin using Padme's dress patterns to sew something for Sister, or during the war Obi-Wan making clothes for Cody when he's on shore leave.
Quinlan sewing fox toys for Fox.
Ahsoka's dresses making more sense as she gets older because she made them herself. And as ridiculous as it was, a tube top & skirt was the easiest combo a 14 year old could make.
(In a happier world, thinking about the Jedi teaching their clones how to sew after the war, because while the clones can sew it wasn't for aesthetic purposes. Just for survival. The Kaminoans never really taught them how.
And when the clones are eventually do make their own money, and are granted their rights, refusing gifts from the Jedi when they can and actually buying their work. Because it's good fucking work.)
Imagining hours where the Jedi will sit in silence and just sew and embroidery their work. Sew together, alone.
Sew blankets, sew clothes, sew dolls, sew every and anything. Embroidery when they're done.
Teach sewing as stress relief. Teach their troopers sewing as stress relief. Do it themselves.
And years after the Fall of the Jedi, their embroidery and clothing being put in museums, respected. years of handmade and handsewn art and clothing displayed for all to see.
"Jedi Cloak by Jedi Master Shaak-Ti" "Obi-Wan Kenobi's thimble" "Stuffed Animal for a youngling by Yoda" "Mace Windu's portable sewing kit" "Gift to a trooper by Plo Koon"
etc, things that make me sad

Having him elbow deep in the dirt would fix me. And him.
My piece for @batchedzine. I really just wanted to see Wolffe get to grow something with his own two hands after the war surrounded by his loved ones. I think it would be very good and therapeutic for him.
Leftover sales are ongoing for the month of June if you've missed the main sale or just want to grab something extra :3 Thank you for the mods for their amazing work on this zine, and all fellow creators who brought all these happy scenarios and AUs to life <3

If Jedi had TikTok
So I was imagining a TikTok trend that would basically just be the Jedi/Padawans looking all presentable and perfectly Jedi perfect ™ saying “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” and then immediately cutting to whatever chaos they are currently engaged in, for example:
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Qui Gon says, immediately before being shown adopting another ‘pathetic life form’ that may will cause them trouble later
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Obi Wan says, before decapitating a battle droid behind him without even looking at it
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Anakin says, as he replaces all of Windu’s regular caff with decaf
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Ashoka says, as she helps Fives and Hardcase balance a bucket of glitter above Rex’s doorway
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Plo says, as he forces encourages C3-PO to tell Wolffe his latest tales of woe™ and R2 drama
• “Jedi, we are; keepers of the peace, our responsibility is.” Yoda says, before telling several younglings that if they keep copying the Temple Guards they’ll freeze and get stuck that way
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Quinlan says, then just… you know, exists how he does
• “We’re Jedi, we’re impartial peacekeepers” Plo Koon says, sprinkling ‘How to Unionize’ pamphlets around the barracks like confetti
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Obi Wan says, before arguing politely engaging with every political figure in the room just for the heck of it
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Leia says, before teasing the man breaking her out of a literal cell in the middle of space about his height
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Luke says, before replacing Han’s hair gel with glue
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Kanan says, calmly to the camera, before proceeding to promptly turn around and scream “SHUT THE KRIFF UP I SWEAR TO FORCE I WILL MURDER YOU ALL IF YOU DONT GO TO SLEEP RIGHT NOW”
• “We’re Jedi, we’re peacekeepers” Ezra says, as he sprints away from Zeb who is quite suddenly and mysteriously COVERED in hair dye (thanks, Sabine!)

One of my FAVORITE Star Wars TCW fanfic tropes is when they ham up these interactions:
Jedi: *says something wise about the Force*
Clone Troopers: ... wth??

Plo and Obi-Wan BOTH voted against expelling Ahsoka from the order and no one will ever convince me otherwise. Even in the interview that people use to say he voted to expel her, Filoni says that Obi-Wan can't argue against their logic for expelling her, not that he voted with them or agreed. He openly argued against it and looked tortured during the whole thing
I am also not thinking about the guy called "the negotiator" failing to argue in favor of someone he cares about and blaming himself for it and her leaving 🖤

Order 66 goes wrong crack fic: someone who really wants to screw with Sidious edits the code in the chips so instead of exterminating the jedi the clones are now seducing the jedi. This backfires slightly as all the jedi are still forced into hiding and hunted throughout the galaxy but for very different reasons than canon
Its intense. Clones are throwing themselves at their jedi. Literally. A couple of clones tried to catapult themselves into the Temple and broke a window. Speaking of the Temple, its basically under siege as every clone on the planet is outside it. Generals were chased off their battlefields. One jedi had to disguise themself in trooper armor just to exit their ship
Each clone has a different tactic of course. Some are going for grand sappy romantic gestures they've seen in movies. Some just strip naked and start posing. Theres infighting between the more aggressive ones. Theres a lot of lingering touches for the jedi who are trapped. Does it effect certain clones who are already in love with their jedi? I'll leave that up to you 😉
The younger padawans are still scarred for life. Fortunately they are spared the direct seduction but the clones are trying to prove their worth to the padawans' masters by attempting to protect and provide for them
The Republic is in outrage. The GAR have been humiliated. The jedi nearly completely indisposed. Its all the media talks about. The Separatists start capturing more planets. Its not looking good. Sidious is still pissed even though things are technically going to plan

on the aesthetics of asian erasure in star wars: obi-wan kenobi and the planet of naboo
Tumblr media
when we talk about representation in star wars, the conversation often stops at what’s visible or credited. star wars has a long-standing problem with the lack of asian leads or asian-coded worlds, but sometimes what’s more insidious is the erasure of asian influence where it once existed, or where it was clearly intended to be.
take obi-wan kenobi. before alec guinness was cast, george lucas had reportedly wanted a japanese actor to play the role, toshirō mifune, most famously known for his work with akira kurosawa. lucas has never strayed away from citing the hidden fortress as a direct inspiration for a new hope, and the jedi, in their original conception, from eastern philosophies, particularly bushido and zen buddhism. this was not accidental. it’s embedded into the language, “obi” (the sash of a kimono), “wan” (a name component common in chinese and southeast asian names), and “kenobi,” which emulates the structure of japanese surnames. it is an asian-inspired name, heavily so.
but when mifune declined, lucas pivoted. and instead of keeping that vision intact, the jedi master archetype, the wise elder, steeped in tradition, was lifted from its asian origins and handed to a white british actor. and then later, to ewan mcgregor, whose performance, while incredible, westernized the role further. we are told obi-wan is from “stewjon,” a planet born out of a joke, a merging of jon stewart’s name, after he asked lucas where obi-wan was from. then “space scotland” became the shorthand. that change from asian inspiration to european performance was never really questioned.
it’s not about demanding obi-wan look asian. it’s that the character was rooted in an asian framework, and that framework was abandoned the moment it became inconvenient to uphold. and that sets the tone for much of star wars, aesthetic borrowing without meaningful credit.
naboo is another case where this shows up. the common narrative is that naboo was inspired by renaissance europe, with its lush italian architecture, baroque dresses, and romanticized monarchy. those elements are there. but there’s a consistent thread of asian influence that is almost never acknowledged.
the names of the monarchs are a starting point. padmé, from the sanskrit “padma,” meaning lotus. sabé and saché, echoing asian and hindi name constructions. queen jamillia, whose name stems from arabic roots, suggests influence from islamic culture. even the name “naboo” itself sounds curiously close to nebo, a mesopotamian god, or nabu, the sumerian deity of wisdom. the planets closest to naboo in the galactic grid, like sereno and ord mantell, also carry vague echoes of eurasian tone.
but most significantly, look at the costume design in the phantom menace. trisha biggar drew from a range of global influences, but some of queen amidala’s most iconic gowns were directly modeled after traditional mongolian royal attire, specifically the headdress and layered robes worn by mongolian empresses. the high collars, rich brocades, and facial makeup are unmistakable. yet, in the lore, naboo is labeled as european. not central asian. not global. and certainly not asian.
this is not to say star wars owes its worldbuilding to any one culture. it doesn’t. part of its power comes from its ability to merge and reimagine cultures. but there is a problem when the contributions of asian cultures are stripped of credit, while european aesthetics are exalted as canonical. when a jedi’s name can be asian, his values drawn from eastern philosophies, his robes loosely modeled on samurai garb, and yet his face, voice, and homeworld are made definitively western.
