The manager from akiba maid war is one of my favorite characters of all time. No one does it like her. Every other character of her type I've ever seen has been a man and that's so profoundly boring.
She has no skills. she has no shame. she is greedy and always in debt. And she is obscenely confident and proud of herself for all of this.
In a perfect world there would be hundreds of these worthless shameless women, but in ours we have few, and we must treasure them.

I think my favorite thing about that fic is the chirping? How it like- does something to the receiver?
They seem like they are unable to explain why, but the simple act of something like one of others uncontrollably chirping or cooing in glee at them causes them to just melt into a happy, gooey puddle.
Like, it reads to me as somewhere deep deep in their brain there’s a little bird that instinctually preens under the sound of happy bird noises (for Hunted that bird has probably taken up most of the real estate in his brain but bear with me here-).
These boys have bested drowning, being eaten, the horrible sensation of being sliced into tiny, tiny pieces- and a little noise is what makes them topple like a jenga tower.
!!!
I want to respond to this more intelligently but all my brain is wanting to say is ":D :D :D YES!"
okay okay okay
Yes, I really love this element of things. I think whether it is gentle touches, little instinctive happy noises, or little instinctive happy gestures... I think part of it is almost because they've gone through so much Bad Shit. Their entire existence for a large chunk of their initial lives was nothing but repeated horrible circumstances! And yet...
When they're together there can be gentle touches and vulnerability is no longer quite as scary, or someone might preen a bit at a compliment or there's a happy chirp and suddenly they're affecting someone they care about in a way that speaks to their hindbrain like yes! That is a happy sound!
I am so glad that you noticed and appreciate the idea of that making them fall to gleeful pieces <33

As a 2010s Tumblr historian, what would you say the essential ingredients of that early 2010s that kinda bled into 2014 but was mostly 2012-2013 hipster-adjacent aesthetic that those tie dyed and crazy patterned short shorts were a part of are? I lived through that era (I’m turning 28 so I was in high school) but my exposure was limited because I was on the anime RP side of Tumblr lmao and I am feeling nostalgic.
Okay if we're thinking about the same thing, that aesthetic was my FAVORITE of the early 2010s. Maybe the 2010s as a whole tbh. So like if we're thinking of the same thing, some of ingredients to that soup were Jeffrey Campbell spiked Lita's, Lana Del Rey, those crispy grunge filters with the vignettes and bokehs, galaxy print, pastel hair, neon studded shorts, tie-dye, tights+shorts, studded everything, strapless bustier tops, drippy fonts, flower crowns, paint drip leggings, those Alice in Wonderland LSD edits, The xx, crosses, and Dr Martens
It wasn't quite hipster, grunge, kawaii, pastel goth, or festival but it took elements of all of those and made it's own mildly alternative (depending on the blog) thing. Now that I'm analyzing it, I think it was the older sibling to 2014 Tumblr grunge, maybe the transition from hipster to grunge.
I've hunted and hunted but I cannot find a name for it. The tags people typically used to describe it back then were hipster and indie, neither being great names for it in the present, so I sat and thought of a name. I think I'm gonna go with either Wonderpunk (my favorite) or Wonderland Hipster
Reasons: Alice in Wonderland edits and references were popular and the aesthetics suit the name in my opinion / Punk used as a prefix cause people did that in the early to mid 2010s (ex: Sea Punk) and the style having nothing to do with original punk makes it similar to how 2010s grunge really had little to do with original grunge / Hipster - self explanatory

You don't wish your disability was worse or more visible, you wish your disability was taken seriously. Please stop confusing the two, I guarantee you would not get the support you need JUST by being more severe or more visible. Please listen to visibly disabled people when we tell you it isn't better on our side

A WIP
Always for toxic relationships, but if they revealed that Lilith and Alastor are actually a pretty good pair of friends instead of having a huge conflict between them, it would certainly be unexpected.
Also have some bootleg Lucifer. Spoiler alert, they're threats.

He's a used car salesman. He has a heart of gold. He can't parallel park. He has two gay witch italian dads. He chops the wood. He has a magical talking cat mom. He's an assassin. He isn't an assassin. He's actually the cat from earlier. He's trans (female cat to male human). He's been shot through the heart. He was in Dewar. He was not in the war. He was in Dewar. He's on his last of nine lives. He just had a marble shoved down his throat. He's even bisexual. I didn't say his name, but he popped into your head, didn't he?

as much as I love the common "Tim worships/stalks Jason" trope in TimJay fanfiction because it's Good and making Tim a weird little freak is Fun, I think the underutilized dynamic is where Jason is the one weirdly obsessed with Tim and makes it Tim's problem.
Like, the moment Jason is confronted with the information that a third Robin exists, the first thing he does is cover his wall with pictures of Tim so he can just obsess and torture himself over it. That is the behavior of a man who is Unwell over Tim's existence and I love it.
red hood: lost days #4
And as much as a shitshow as The Titans Tower Incident™ is characterization-wise (though I think it has far more merit in depicting Jason's character than people give it credit for but I digress-) there's something very fun about the fact that even after kicking his ass, Jason respects Tim and is impressed by him.
teen titans (2003) #29
And on top of that, Jason can't seem to stop trying to ask Jason to Tim to work with him in some capacity.
robin (1993) #177
batman: battle for the cowl #2
While Battle for the Cowl is an exceptionally bad comic, especially for its characterization of Jason and the "be my Robin" bit is taken deeply out of context, I do think it's interesting how obsessed Jason is with believing that Tim is extremely competent, only held back by being "brainwashed by Bruce". (hence him leaving Tim for dead later on in the comic.) Jason seeing a darker side of Tim and wanting to bring that out of Tim, wanting to see what Tim could be if he let go of his loyalty to Bruce is so fun to me, tbh.
And in Robin #177, Jason seems genuinely upset Tim doesn't want to work with him. Jason sees such a raw potential in Tim and is obsessed with it, constantly wanting Tim to work for him and see Tim be the type of person Jason is. And despite Tim rejecting him, Jason doesn't shoot to kill Tim. I just cannot get over the fanfic potential of Jason obsessing over Tim, tracking him and seeing what he's capable of and what he could be capable of. Wanting to make Tim see things the way he does. To Tim it's corruption, to Jason it's freedom. Tim trying to 'save' Jason is fun and all, but Jason trying to corrupt Tim? That's even more fun to me. Watching that power struggle between them, Tim unable to get Jason off his heels as Jason gets more and more possessive and bold with each attempt.
And when Jason sees Tim successfully get Gotham back under control after a gang war, he's impressed. He praises Tim, even. And then Tim just. Breaks him out of prison.
robin (1993) #182
The way they're constantly trying to see something in the other that isn't there, hoping the other will come around? That is the most fucked up hate/love dynamic ever. Jason keeps coming back to Tim, keeps trying to find ways to get Tim onto his side. They're always chasing each other. And I think Jason would be the one to confess love first, the one to do anything to make Tim his. And when you consider after all of this, Tim has his Red Robin arc and is at his lowest, getting the closest he ever gets to considering murder? I think it'd be so fun to see Jason take advantage of that and worm his way back into Tim's life and finally push Tim over the edge.

when kaeya was a kid his most exacerbated reaction to getting hurt was a very pointed "ow" and one tear at most. meanwhile when diluc got hurt he would wail and sob and sniffle around all day afterwards. and yknow what i think that their essence hasn't changed now that they're adults. kaeya who says "this doesn't.. look good.." when he dies in game and diluc who says "my flame.....has been..extinguished....." like okay. we still know who's the most dramatic out of the two

Irondad fic ideas #102
When Flash first overhears Peter talking about the "Stark Internship," he rolls his eyes and thinks, "Of course he'd go with that excuse at Midtown School of Science and Technology."
Whatever. Flash knows the truth. He's seen the car that Parker gets picked up in, seen the body guard / chauffeur and the absolutely insane amount of discrete safety tech he always has on. Flash is convinced that the whole orphan thing is just a cover story and Peter secretly has parents at least as rich and influential as Flash's own.
Maybe they're politicians or the mob or something, and that's why all the secrecy. Honestly, Flash is doing him a favor by bullying him all the time for being an unimportant orphan. It's the perfect cover. Maybe he'll even drop the ridiculous Stark Industries lie and come up with a more believable backstory soon.
Then, one day Flash and Peter end up in a kidnapping situation.
The kidnappers take Flash's watch, but they leave some of Peter's tech since it's better hidden. As soon as they're alone, Flash expects Peter to hit that panic button and get them the hell out of there.
Only... he doesn't? Did Peter learn nothing from K&R training? Flash reaches over and hits the secret panic button 3 times immediately, no hesitation. Peter is shocked. Flash is like, "Oh come on, I obviously know your secret."
He's kind of curious and excited now to see who Peter's secret parents are, once the cops get them out of there.
He is not at all prepared when Iron Man bursts through the door.
He's even less prepared when Tony Stark steps out of the suit and totally freaks out at Peter, hugging him and checking for injuries.
... maybe he's finally met Peter's secret parent after all.
