Tumblr media
“You’re running the money through here?” Steve asked Bucky, and he nodded.
“Yes. We have a few other sites we launder through, but most of the money comes through here. Police don’t come poking around a locally owned Romanian restaurant on the upper east side,” Bucky explained.
“Boss is very... careful.” Zemo explained, referring to Bucky.
They were trying to make a deal with Steve and Sam, the two American bosses of another mafia they were trying to sell their illegal weapons to. One of their bases was raided, all of their drugs and weapons seized by the DEA.
They had come to Bucky, looking to buy more weapons to arm their dealers and “soldiers”.
“And who is this exactly?” Sam eyed Zemo suspiciously.
“Zemo. He’s security, and my weapons expert,” Bucky answered.
“Do you have connections?” Steve continued, trying to ignore the Sokovian’s unsettling stare.
“Yes. The head agent of the Manhattan DEA is one of us. Half of the local precincts are in our pocket, and I own the NYPD.” Bucky’s tone was impatient, he didn’t appreciate the questioning of his authority.
Bucky was the most powerful man in New York, and also the most feared. He demanded respect, dominating every space he entered. Steve and Sam wanted to be under his protection, and be supplied by him.
The men stopped talking when they heard a noise, and the four men burst into the front of the restaurant, guns drawn.
“Did you not lock the fucking door?!” Bucky snapped at Zemo. Zemo just rolled his eyes, and they stepped out into the dining room, where you stood.
You loved the Romanian restaurant just a few streets down from your building. You frequented it, their papanasi your favorite comfort food.
You’d had a rough week, a lot of family drama, and you were craving the Romanian food. You found the door unlocked and a back light on as you were walking home late, and you’d gone inside to try to get a snack.
It was empty, but four men had come out, three of them pulling guns and pointing them at you. You’d heard voices and had begun to walk to the back hallway, where they’d been talking in an office. You’d heard “I own the NYPD,” and nothing else. You’d started to leave when the men had appeared.
The man who didn’t have a gun pointed at you was in an all-black suit, silver eyes matching silver rings on his fingers that looked like they costed more than your Manhattan rent.
You were frozen, staring down the barrels of three guns, fear robbing your lungs of air.
“Get your fucking guns out of her face!” Bucky shouted, making you jump. Zemo obeyed immediately, but Steve and Sam kept their guns pointed at you.
“She’s-”
“She’s unarmed and terrified. Put down the fucking guns!” The other two slowly lowered their weapons, and you were shaking.
Bucky looked at you, a frightened girl who clearly had just ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time. You stared back at him, your hands trembling. You didn’t understand him protecting you from the other men, but you were thankful.
“Please, I didn’t hear anything, I haven’t done anything... I just wanted some food,” you pleaded softly, looking at Bucky in hopes he’d take more pity on you.
“I believe you, doll, but we can’t let you leave,” Bucky spoke, and you bit your lip.
“I won’t do anything,” you promised.
“I know. You came for something to eat? Let’s get you some food. Zemo.” Bucky pushed the Sokovian toward the kitchen.
“Barnes, we can’t just-” Steve turned to Bucky, starting to object.
“You will respect my authority, Steve.”
You looked at him, and Bucky held his hand out for you to take. You hesitated, and his silver gaze softened.
“I’m not going to hurt you, doll,” he said quietly, and you carefully put your hand in his, the metal rings cold against your warm skin. Bucky pulled you toward him, his other hand going to rest on the small of your back as he led you to his office, sitting down with you on one of the brown leather couches. You began to smell the food Zemo was cooking, growing hungrier. Sam and Steve sat across from the two of you, and you shifted under their intense gazes.
“What’s your name?” Bucky asked you, and when you didn’t answer immediately, he introduced himself.
“I’m James Buchanan Barnes, but my friends call me Bucky,” he felt bad that you’d gotten caught up with them. Under another circumstance, he probably would’ve sent you away, but he couldn’t let you go in front of the two Americans, and not risking what you may have heard of their conversation.
Your mind was spinning. You’d never been in the presence of four men as beautiful as the ones in the restaurant. Bucky especially, was incredibly gorgeous. His stern, dominating personality made him far more attractive somehow, and you found yourself growing warm in your jeans.
“Your name, doll?” Bucky’s voice was soft as he called you back to attention, snapping your mind out of your wandering thoughts.
“Y/N,” you whispered, pulling at a rip in your jeans, letting your eyes fall down to your lap.
“That’s a pretty name,” Bucky said, repeating it, and god it sounded so much better falling from his lips.
“Here,” Zemo returned, setting down a plate for you. A small gasp left you as Bucky hauled you closer to him on the couch. You realized it was so that Zemo could sit down on your other side. You picked up the plate, eating quietly, trying to ignore the stares from the men across from you.
Zemo and Bucky didn’t stare, and Bucky’s hand rested lightly on your leg. They began to speak in Romanian, and you didn’t understand, so you kept eating. You nearly choked when Bucky squeezed your thigh a bit, his rings glinting from the movement.
You wondered how the cool metal would feel against your heat.
“Y/N? I asked if you were alright?”
“Hm? Yes,” you blushed furiously, and Bucky had an amused smirk on your face, practically reading your mind, or at least recognizing filthy thoughts as you stared at his large hands.
“Her cheeks look a little rosy,” Zemo hummed, his fingers brushing lightly over your cheekbone. Your chest rose and fell heavily, and Steve leaned forward and took the now-empty plate from your lap.
“Are you nervous?” Bucky teased, his deep voice soaking into you, surrounding you and blocking out everything else.
“No, sir,” you shook your head, swallowing hard.
“Sir? So sweet,” Zemo chuckled darkly, and you felt his fingertips ghost down your spine.
“I am sweet,” you said, looking up at Bucky, and he tilted his head to the side a bit, running his hand up and down your thigh. You squeezed your legs together without meaning to, just needing to alleviate some of the sexual frustration that was building inside of you.
You were overwhelmed by the two men speaking softly and sensually to you, their hands on you, the dominating personalities, and the tension in the room. You were focused on Bucky, and he helped you onto his lap. You let him move you to straddle his hips, your back to the other men.
“Want to show me how sweet you can be, doll?” He asked, his hands resting on your ribcage, and you could feel him through your thin top. You nodded shyly, and he kissed you to get you to relax a bit.
“My friends here are going to watch, okay?” Bucky’s voice was dangerously soft, and you nodded. He kissed your cheekbone lightly before slipping your top over your head, your breasts barely covered by thin, see-through lace.
You blushed, looking to the side and seeing Zemo shift at the sight of your chest.
“He’s admiring you,” Bucky hummed softly into your collarbone, pressing a kiss to the skin there, just above the curve of the lace on your breast. His hands slipped down into the back pockets of your jeans, squeezing you and pulling a breathy noise from you. You couldn’t see Sam or Steve, but you felt their gazes on your back, watching the way Bucky balanced softness and dominance with you.
“I want to make you feel good, I want to hear your little moans of pleasure,” Bucky spoke quietly, mouthing gentle kisses along your jaw.
“Please,” now, instead of begging to leave, you were begging for him, the mafia don you were on top of.
“Let’s let these poor boys behind you see. I want them to know who’s in charge here,” Bucky said, and you nodded in consent. You felt like you could collapse as he got you to stand up off of his lap. You looked down at his rings as he smoothed his hands up your belly to tease the raised peaks under your bralette.
“So pretty, doll,” Bucky praised you, kissing just above your navel. His eyes gazed up at you, and your trembling fingers threaded through his dark hair as you got lost in the stormy grey.
Bucky wanted to tear you apart, but he took it slow and was gentle for you, the sweet girl under his protection.
He kissed the space between your hips as he undid the button on your jeans, sliding them down your legs. He reached a hand up for you to take as you stepped out of them, holding you steady. He smiled at the lace bottoms that matched your top, nearly see-through.
You heard a soft throaty noise from behind you, and you looked to see Sam and Steve with their hands down their trousers, stroking themselves as they watched Bucky undress you. Zemo was doing the same, but less shy than the other two, his suit pants down around his knees, giving you full view of his cock.
You blushed shyly, feeling exposed but somehow safe with Bucky, who was squeezing your ass, leaving imprints of his rings against your skin.
“Look, they’re all touching themselves because of you, how beautiful and sweet you are,” Bucky turned you around so your back was to him, making you watch Steve and Sam. Your skimpy underwear showed how wet you were, and you were unable to hide how turned on you were any more.
Bucky’s hands were on your hips as he kissed down your spine, shivers shooting through your body. He slid the lace down your legs, leaving it discarded on the floor with your jeans, but not bothering to get you fully naked.
A soft squeal escaped as you were suddenly dragged backwards, falling onto Bucky’s lap, your back pressed against his suit-clad chest.
“You can rest on me, doll,” he coaxed you to relax, his hands smoothing down your body.
Steve and Sam were overwhelmed by the sight in front of them, and Bucky knew it. He was doing this to assert his dominance, and to establish a level of trust between them. They watched him part your legs, keeping them open with his knees. Zemo was much more unphased than the other two, enjoying the show as one of Bucky’s loyal friends.
Bucky could hear your soft, unsteady breaths, and he stilled when your smaller hand grasped his.
“Leave them on, please,” you begged, tilting your head back to look him in the eyes before he could remove his rings.
“Of course, sweet girl.” Bucky planted a gentle kiss to your lips, deepening it to hear your soft moans.
“Oh my god, fuck,” one of the men moaned as they came, seeing your sex glisten as Bucky licked into your mouth sensually.
Bucky gently trailed his fingers through your folds, feeling how wet you were. He began to stroke your clit softly, listening to you whine.
He eased one of his large fingers into your tight entrance. You shuddered, your breath stuttering as you felt the cold metal against your hot pussy, your muscles squeezing around his finger.
“Does that feel good?” Zemo asked you as Bucky pushed two fingers inside of you, still teasing your clit to keep you relaxed.
“Answer him, doll,” Bucky commanded you sternly.
“Yes, sir,” you turned your head to look at Zemo, watching his hips fuck up into his hand.
“No, you keep touching yourselves. You’re not done until I’m done.” Bucky’s order was directed at Steve and Sam, who’s noises rose in pitch at the forced overstimulation. They were too afraid to disobey Bucky, knowing the consequences would be dire. Zemo knew this ahead of time, and was taking it much slower, still enjoying himself as he watched you writhe on Bucky’s lap.
Bucky kissed along your shoulder and neck, three fingers pumping slowly in and out of you. He expertly drew whines and moans of pleasure from you, and your legs were beginning to shake from the intensity.
The cold metal against your heat was driving you mad, making your eyes roll back in ecstasy. Your back arched off of Bucky’s chest, and he wrapped an arm around you to hold you against him. He still managed to stay calm enough to continue being gentle with you, leading you quickly toward a powerful orgasm.
“You must ask him before you let go, sweetheart,” Zemo informed you, and your broken whimper filled Bucky’s ears. He watched the other three men writhing in their own mind-blowing pleasure, all under the instruction of him.
“Please, Bucky, I need-” you cut yourself off with a strangled squeal as he curved his fingers forward inside of you.
“Let go, I’ve got you,” He said, kissing your cheek as he murmured the soft words. Your screams of white-hot pleasure filled the room, shaking and falling apart on his lap. A choked sob left your chest as he pulled out of you, his digits soaked in your come. He’d waited until you had fell down from your high, becoming relaxed in his arms.
He was whispering gentle praises in your ear as he slipped his fingers into your mouth to clean them off. You hollowed your cheeks, obediently cleaning him up and feeling the metal rings pressed against your lips. You were soothed by sucking off his fingers and the praises, melting into the mafia lord.
“I think I want to keep you.”

Stolitz fic rec!!
||
I'm going to just drop my favorite stolitz fics here.
They run at night by @wearemisfortune
Blitzo is always moving because when his body stops, his mind races. This almost always leads to a terrible fucking idea.
Tonight is no different—but the result will be.
-lovely angst, lovely climax, and it captures Blitz's line of thinking in a serious tone but in a way still feels authentic to the character. And I'm ALWAYS a sucker for the sheer unconditional trust trope.
Junctures by @sluttycrimehat
To everything, there is a season.
-I still am in complete awe of how the author managed to fit so much in such little time. The bit at the end always fucking gets me, I love it so MUCH.
The last general by @curtailed
It's in a month after, with Stolas spent and lying on his side, that Blitzo finally musters up the courage to tell him.
-Hello??? BEAUTIFUL post-harvest moon fic, wonderful vibes, love how well they know each other in this one, the trust is amazing. Love it.
You got everything that I want by @bipridemoth
Stolas can’t recall a time where “love” wasn’t synonymous with “pain” for him.
With Blitzo, it’s not love. So, there’s no pain. Stolas doesn’t let there be pain, at least not emotionally, the physical pain is something he quite enjoys. When Blitzo leaves after their monthly night together, he doesn’t allow himself to feel pain, only anticipation of the next time. He likes that there’s always a next time, even though that’s because of his active incentive more than anything else. But that’s alright, he doesn’t want Blitzo to come see him without an incentive. He deserves favors in turn for what he’s giving Stolas.
-Stolas angst!!!! The angst really is delicious in this one, with just as nice of a happy ending. Blitz is confident about the relationship, which is Wonderful to read and the "I know where this is going" segment had me in TEARS.
Between fairy tales and realities by @coloringthegreyscale
Blitzo's a complicated imp and Striker and Stolas accept that. But what happens when the two worlds he's made for himself collide together for one night? Well...
-Okay, so yes, this is striker/blitz/stolas, but it's so good. All three of them have a lovely dynamic, managing to work out somehow, with powerful Stolas, wonderful Blitz and a HILARIOUS Striker. Go read the series, it's a lot of fun and has many cute interactions that made me smile.
The look by @seireileafy
Blitz has been noticing a change in Stolas.
-It's such a CUTE drabble, I adore when one person can tell the other is pining for them, and the LAST LINE FUCKING GETS ME EVERY TIME-
Instead I made my bed with apathy by @thebooklord15
Just like every night before this one, Blitzo glared at the form next to him, already lulled into the bliss of slumber. He had never meant for things to turn out this way-he’d gotten the grimoire already, he didn’t need this man and from the way Stolas treated him it was clear he did not need the imp either.
And yet.
-Jcjdkafj this one is so GOOD I love blitz being pissed off yet too deep in to stop, and like I've said for others already THAT LAST LINE, PLEASE-
Call and response by anon
It was a love story, maybe.
-short but deliciously angsty, with some beautiful imagery, really nice dialogue, and time-doesn't-exist-in-this-motel-room vibes. Love it.
Shovel proof by @kereea
Octavia tries to give Blitzo the shovel talk. He decides to help with that.
-FUCKING cute, love the Octavia/Blitz dynamic, and it has snappy fun dialogue!! Really sweet.
Reaching out, touching me, touching you by @allmightshipserasermic
Stolas hasn’t been able to preen sufficiently in quite awhile, since Stella refuses to do it for him anymore. Blitzo offers to help.
-PREENING FIC is there anything more I have to say?
The skin you could have by @coloringthegreyscale
Stolas catches Blitzo staring and it leads to some talk, some magic, and a little bit of fun.
-Again, BEAUTIFUL dynamic between the two, lots of angsty tenderness, and lovely body imagery.
Different shapes by @sirdust
“Before the exorcist, he taketh the image and shape of a man.”
Blitz catches a glimpse of Stolas’ human form.
-okay, practically a direct opposite of the previous fic, but SO GOOD, I can't describe it. Love the imagery and their comfortable relationship.
A helluva mess by @stratumgermanitivum
It’s not like Stolas isn’t a hot piece of ass, because he is.
And it’s not like Blitzo’s blind or anything, because he isn’t.
It’s just that there’s pleasure, and then there’s business, and never the twain shall meet. (Unless he finally gets Moxx on board with that threeway, in which case, Blitzo fully intends to christen every damn surface of the office except his precious Loony’s desk.)
-AMAZING, love the pining and denial on both sides it's so great especially since you can tell both sides know that they've messed up. Again, LAST LINE!!
Eat the whole cake (it's what you deserve) by @okoyik
"His Highness is on the phone for you, sir," Moxxie says.
Blitzo makes a face. "Who?"
"Stolas," Moxxie supplies, as if that's supposed to help Blitzo understand. His expression is surely one of complete confusion as he stares at the other imp.
"Who the fuck is Stolas?" Blitzo asks slowly, racking his brain for a face to put to the name.
-
Blitzo's memory starts to slip, and all he knows is he needs that owl that seems to haunt his nightmares to stay away.
-HELLO it's only on one out of four chapters for now but it's already SO GOOD I can't WAIT for the rest!!!
Stand tall, but your hands are shaking by @remymorton
It’s been a month since the Harvest Moon festival. Another full moon night arrived, and after that... Blitz ... He's not well.
-wordless cute comfort, truly very sweet, I love it.
Palaces and souvenirs by @cloudysonder
So Stolas is objectively. Objectively. Attractive. Kinda soft-looking, sometimes. Pretty. Whatever. Fuckin’ whatever. That’s always been a thing. Blitzo knew that, Stolas definitely knew that-- whatever.
"This is not," Blitzo thinks, sounding a little bit desperate even to himself, "some sort of revelation."
His flicks of the lighter get a little more unstable, a little more frustrated.
A clawed hand reaches over and takes hold of the lighter, lighting Blitzo’s cigarette with practiced ease, as if he’d done the same thing a thousand times before (He has, Blitzo realizes).
“Silly Blitzy,” he giggles quietly, giving Blitzo a soft pat on the head before curling up beside him, stretching one last time before closing his eyes to sleep.
Blitzo feels warm.
"This," Blitzo tells himself, and it sounds like a command, "will not be a problem."
-I saw the start of this fic on Twitter and have been following it religiously ever since. It's really a gorgeous fic, three chapters up, with the promise of a Great slow burn, fun dialogue and Octavia & Blitz bonding. The level of denial Blitz is in even as he moves comfortably around every aspect of Stolas' life cracks me tf up.
Can't by @hazbincalifornia
Blitzo realizes he feels something something that he doesn't want to feel. This was supposed to be simple.
-feelings realization fic, wonderful, amazing, lovely, also the exact same way I realized I was gay, funnily enough (girl fell asleep in my lap and I was like oh. Oh fuck.)
Too late to stop by @malkaviancake
Stolas spends some time with his thoughts, realizing that his feelings for Blitzo aren't as one sided as he presumed.
-GORGEOUS vocab, I'm truly very obsessed with it. Like most of these stories, LAST LINE!!!!
Itchy with want, thin on sleep by me
It happens in parts- both falling in love and having his eyes opened.
-I will,, finish this one day, but for now here's a few in between moments before they have The Conversation.
Heaven in hiding by me
Their nights together are good, they always are, both of their tastes lining up to be shockingly compatible, but on the days where they end early and they get to spend some extra time cleaning up in comfortable silence or playful banter- and Blitz would rather take a bullet than admit this out loud- but those nights are pretty great too.
-AFTERCARE FIC, I had to write an aftercare fic ft. Good dom Blitz, Stolas taking care of him in return and a comfortable relationship that they both know is going to cause Problems in the future :)
Love in the bones and sinews of this curse by me
Five times Stolas and Blitz needed the grimoire to break a curse + one time they didn't.
-self explanatory. I tried to make it as funny as possible, everyone bickers a lot and Blitz brings Stolas flowers and gifts, what more could you need?
Life is a curse (love makes it worse) by me
"Alright!" Blitz says, clapping his hands together, "Weapons out, and-"
Half pull out some gun or the other, but half just look at him blankly. Blitz wishes for death.
"Save me from this family," He mutters under his breath, "Okay. Take these then." He passes out the few weapons he'd brought along with him and doesn't ask if they know how to use them because if he hears a no, he's giving up and going back home. "Stick close and talk loudly so the others can hear us. Let's go."
They move out, Blitz taking the lead and the rest forming a circle close behind him, starting up a loud conversation about the neighbour's garden. It gives him enough time to wonder exactly what the fuck he's doing here, in a nightmare world with a bunch of pretentious snobs, searching for his stupid Ars Goetia boyfriend, instead of sleeping in his nice lumpy bed back at home.
-a sequel to the previous fic!!! I had to write some Octavia and Blitz bonding, and accidentally added in a bunch of teenage imps who work for Stolas who imprint on Blitz immediately. And there's Eldritch Stolas, protective boyfriends and found family!!! The whole shebang!!!
This ended up being Much longer than I'd expected, but genuinely every fic up there is really good, go check em out!!!!

YN stayed in the house for the funeral, not wanting to intrude.
She didn't know Reginald aside from the stories Five told her in the apocalypse. They were enough for her to know that there was a lot of baggage that their father left them to carry.
She felt that she'd be intruding, despite what Five told her.
"You're a part of this family, y'know," Five pointed out as they had changed. "You're allowed to be out there."
"Yeah, but I didn't even know the man," YN reasoned. "Besides, they don't know that."
"We can always tell them."
YN looked back at Five, a playful smirk spreading across her face. "What happened to wanting to keep your love life private?" she teased.
Five scoffed, but there was only mock annoyance behind.
"Besides, I think Diego would try to kill you if we told him we're married."
"How do you two know each other?" Five asked, turning to her. He wore his old uniform. YN wore one of his as well but didn't wear the full set. She was glad that she was the right size for them.
"He knows my mom," she shrugged.
Five gave her a look of confusion but didn't comment on it.
Tumblr media
From what Five told her, the funeral didn't go well- not that she expected it to go any better than it did. Diego's behaviour didn't exactly surprise her, and what she knew of him and his siblings, the fight wasn't a surprise either.
That didn't mean she wasn't upset with him.
Now, though, she watched as Five dug through the kitchen. She sat on the edge of the table, her feet resting on a chair.
Klaus sat at the head of the table across from her. He held onto a guitar, his shoes discarded on the table.
Allison joined the three. "Where's Vanya?"
"Oh," Klaus spoke, "she's gone."
"That's unfortunate." YN glanced back at Five.
"Yeah," Allison agreed, giving him an odd look.
"An entire square block," Five said. "Forty-two bedrooms, nineteen bathrooms, but not a single drop of coffee." He looked up at his sister.
YN rolled her eyes at the reminder of his caffeine addiction.
"Dad hated caffeine," Allison reminded him.
"Well, he hated children, too, and he had plenty of us," Klaus laughed pathetically at his joke, stopping abruptly.
Allison and Five stared at him a moment.
"I'm taking the car," Five said.
Klaus sat up in his seat, moving the guitar. "Where are you going?"
"To get a decent cup of coffee," Five told him. He looked to YN. "You coming?" With a nod, she dropped off the table.
"Do either of you even know how to drive?" Allison asked.
"We know how to do everything."
"It was great meeting you all," YN smiled before Five grabbed her hand, and they jumped out of the kitchen.
Klaus stood from his seat. "I feel like we should try and stop them, but then again, I also just kinda want to see what happens."
They could hear the engine start, followed by the stifled sound of the car leaving.
Diego walked in, already speaking. "I guess I'll see you guys in, what, ten years? When Pogo dies?"
"Not if you die first," Allison said, stepping away from him.
"Yeah, love you, too, sis," Diego fired back. He glanced around the kitchen. "YN leave?"
"The girl?" Klaus asked.
"Yeah."
"Her and Five ran off to get coffee, apparently."
Diego let out an annoyed sigh, stepping away and moving to leave.
Tumblr media
The shifting neon lights above Griddy's was a welcomed sight for YN. She seldom visited with Diego, and on occasion, her mother joined when she was free. After a while, though, she started coming on her own and became acquainted with Agnes, who always served her.
The two climbed out of the car, and Five led the way to the diner.
A man held the door open for them as he left, earning a quick thank you from YN.
They settled next to each other at the counter. YN reached over and rang a short tune with the bell.
Five gave her a confused look as she settled back.
She looked back at him innocently.
"What?" she asked.
"What was that?" he asked.
"I haven't seen Agnus in a long time, and I always did that when I would come in," she pouted. "Leave me alone."
Five let out a chuckle and shook his head in amusement.
Behind them, the door opened, and footsteps came up to the counter. A man sat down in a chair close to Five.
Agnus came from the back room, and YN beamed at the sight of her.
"Sorry," the waitress apologized. "The sink was clogged." With a smile, she pulled out her pad of paper and pen.
"What'll it be?" she asked, looking at the man.
"Uh, give me a chocolate eclair." Agnus wrote down the order. She glanced up at Five.
"Can I get the kid a glass of milk or something?"
YN stifled back a laugh as Five scoffed. "The kid wants coffee. Black."
Agnus glanced at the man, uncertain of what to do. "Cute kid," she laughed. Looking back at Five, he gave her an uncomfortable smile.
She quickly moved on to YN.
"Nice to see you again, dear," she said, trying not to look back at Five. "Want your usual?"
"Yes, please," YN spoke softly.
Agnus gave her a nod before stepping back to the coffee pot.
Five let out a soft sigh.
"Don't remember this place being such a shithole," he said, earning a gentle push from YN. "I used to come here as a kid. Used to sneak out with my brothers and sisters- eat donuts 'till we puked. Simpler times, huh?"
The man next to them seemed confused- understandably so, YN thought.
"I suppose," he responded.
Angus returned to the counter, balancing four items in her hands. She placed two coffees down- one for Five and the other for YN- and gave the man his eclair and YN her favorite pastry.
The man had pulled out his wallet, holding out money to Agnus.
"I got theirs," he said.
"Thanks." The two spoke in unison.
It was quiet for a moment as YN dug into her food. It had been almost a full day now since she'd last eaten anything, so she wasn't going to let it go to waste.
"You must know your way around the city."
YN looked up at Five, who stared at the man.
"I hope so," the man said. "I've been driving it for twenty years."
"Good," Five said. "We need an address."
YN raised a brow at him, unsure of where this was going.
She watched as the man wrote the address down on a napkin and slid it over to Five.
With a curt smile- one more pleasant than what he offered Agnus- Five took it and looked the address over.
YN looked at it over his shoulder, glancing back as the man left the restaurant.
"What's that for?" she questioned as he folded and pocketed the napkin.
Five opened his mouth to speak but shut it when the door opened again. Through the reflection of the bell, they could see armed men dressed in black behind them. Two had their weapons raised to each of their heads.
YN sighed as she stared down at her unfinished pastry. Did it really need to be this hard to get some food?
"That was fast," Five hummed. "Thought we'd have more time before they found us."
"Okay," the man holding his gun to Five's head spoke. "Let's be professional about this, yeah? On your feet, and come with us. They want to talk."
With a sigh, YN propped her arm up and rested her chin in the palm of her hand.
"We've got nothing to say."
"It doesn't have to go this way. You think I wanna shoot some kids? Go home with that on my conscience?"
"Well, I wouldn't worry about that." Five and YN glanced at each other. YN looked forward again, and Five looked back at the man. "You won't be going home."
Letting Five take the lead, YN waiting until he disappeared from his chair to drop from her seat and duck down.
The man that was aiming at her followed her movement, ready to shoot.
She moved faster, using her weight and swiping the man off his feet. He stumbled to the ground, landing on a conveniently placed pile of ice shards that pierced through his body. They melted to water seconds later, leaving no evidence behind.
"Hey, assholes!" Five's voice rang out in the diner, attracting the attention of the men.
As the men shot wildly at where he used to be seconds ago, YN used the distraction.
Focusing, a sharp wave of her hand brought shards of ice flying through the floor at the men. Only two got hit, the others taking cover from them before turning their shots on the girl. She avoided as best as she could, all while being jealous of Five's ability to jump around and avoid everything.
The boy wrapped his tie around the neck of a man, while another tried to aim at him. YN kicked at the other, and he stumbled back.
Forming a flat but sharp piece of ice in her hand, she rushed him, swinging at his neck with the ice. He dropped to the ground, blood pouring out and pooling around him.
YN scrunched her nose at the sight, dropping the ice.
Turning, she caught sight of the last two men trying to corner Five. He disappeared as they shot, leaving them to shoot at each other. They sank to the ground, dead, and the fight was finally over.
YN let out a laugh as Five retrieved his tie from a man's corpse.
"What's so funny?" he asked, wrapping his tie back around his neck.
"They were a couple of idiots," she said.
"You know, for someone so sweet, you can be real awful sometimes," Five said. YN smiled at him, shrugging.
The sounds of grunts caught their attention, and YN's smile fell.
Five moved to stand over the last man, crouching down to snap his neck. There, he caught sight of the tracking device and picked it up.
He showed it to YN, who groaned.
"You wanna go first?" he asked.
"Not really."
They sat back at the counter.
YN watched in displeasure as Five took a knife to his arm, cutting into the skin. He dug into the wound with his fingers, grunting in pain.
He pulled out a small pill-shaped device that blinked green. He set it aside before handing the knife over to YN.
"Your hands are still black," he commented.
A side effect of solidifying liquids came in the form of frostbite on her hands. It would never hurt her, but her hands and fingers would ache and freeze for a certain amount of time as it faded.
"Are you sure you can do this?" Five asked, noticing the severe shake to her hands. "Are you alright?" He hadn't seen the side effects in so long that it was odd to see them again.
"I'm fine," YN assured him. "I didn't know I had powers at this age, so I never used them. I guess being back at this age and using them so much all of a sudden is taking a toll on my body."
"Here, give it to me," Five insisted.
With a sigh, she traded the knife back and held out her arm for him.
Her face scrunched in pain as he cut through, stopping when it was open enough. He did the same for her, reaching in and pulling out the tracking device.
"Can we go now?"
They left the shop hand-in-hand, Five ignoring the cold her hand gave off.
He dropped the devices by the sewer drain.
"Where to now, babe?" YN asked.
"Vanya's."
Tumblr media
The click of a lock and creaking hinges filled the dark room where YN and Five sat, waiting.
YN could faintly see a figure's outline, who she assumed was Vanya. Hoped was more like it.
Five clicked on a light, revealing their presence.
Vanya looked at them, startled. "Jesus!" she breathed.
"You should have locks on your windows," Five told her.
"I live on the second floor."
"Rapists can climb."
Vanya paused. "You are so weird."
She turned and closed the door before removing her coat and draping it over the back of the couch.
She sat down on the couch.
She looked over the two, more focused on her brother than the girl who rested against the back of the chair he sat on.
"Is that blood?" she asked them. Her gaze stayed on their arms.
YN moved her arm out of sight, which was much more visible than Five's.
"It's nothing," Five said.
Vanya shifted, not liking his answer. "Why are you here?"
"I've decided you're the only one I can trust."
"Why me?"
"Because you're ordinary." YN discreetly flicked the back of his head. He sighed at her. "Because you'll listen."
With a soft 'okay,' she stood up and disappeared into a room. She returned shortly with medical supplies, to which Five rolled up the sleeve of the blazer.
The woman took a sharp breath at the sight of his wound.
"When I jumped forward and got stuck in the future, do you know what I found?" Five spoke.
"No."
"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. For a while, I thought I was the last person alive. I found YN, who managed to survive by luck.
"I never figured out what killed the human race, but I did find something else. The date it happens. The world ends in eight days, and I have no idea how to stop it."
During Five's explanation, YN had been waved over to the couch by Vanya so she could take care of her arm as well.
Vanya stared at her brother in silence as she tried to register the bomb he had dropped on her.
"I'll put on a pot of coffee."

Note
So I had this idea and I was wondering if you would write it. So damian has lived with his dad for a couple of years, he is 15/16 and his brothers have been nagging him about going on a date like a normal teenager for months now, and then one day he just snaps and screams at them " don't you get it I'm already betrothed!" His brothers are confused but try to help " I'm sure we can find a loophole and get you out of it!" "No. If the betrothal is broken the league will kill her."enter marinette.
Note: Well this story sounded better in my head, but it took forever to type up. I hope you enjoy it.
Damian couldn’t remember a time when his brothers didn’t make an attempt at his love life. Every other month (sometimes weeks) it was attempt after attempt.  He hated it. At first, he humored his brothers, but that humor quickly turned to the opposite emotion. Though Damian’s biggest secret thought that it was hilarious, and it was.
Damian remembers their first attempt, he was only fourteen, been in the Waynes’ custody for almost four years. He remembers being tugged into a bathroom and then forces to wear silly fancy clothes. His brothers should have been lucky that he didn’t have his weapons on him. To them, it was to gain the high school boy experience since Damian refused to do any of the sorts. Shouldn’t they just happy that he has one friend at the very least? Nope, they really wanted Damian to have a sense of normality.
“Baby bird, every teen goes on a date. Please just do this for us.” It was Dick that had started the persuasion. Damian had only tsk and fold his arms against his chest. He was already fed up with all the bullshit spewing from the older adopted Wayne’s mouth.
“Why should I even do this? I barely know the har—girl and—” Damian begins to scowl as Dick interrupts him by tossing a vest for him to wear. He mentally gags at the texture of the vest. Damian had scene better quality, not that he’ll tell where.
“We promise it will be worth it.”  It was Tim that adds to the conversation as Jason was to busy cleaning up his knife in broad daylight.
It wasn’t long after that was the date with a Gotham native. She wasn’t up to his standards; it was clear that she didn’t want to be with him for him. To this day he suspects that she only agreed because of the money. Damian tried everything to make the date super uncomfortable for the girl even going so far as to make up an explicitly detailed gory story. She left cursing his brothers, mainly Dick, out at the end of their date.
Damian had thought that would be the one and only time that would happen…he had forgotten the stubbornness that runs in the family. Failing was not an option as this continues for another four years.
“I’m sure it was a fun date.” A female’s voice says from the screen of his laptop, that was place on his dresser as he does shadow movements with his katana.
“It was tiresome, Angel, and quite frankly I’m getting sick of it.” Damian lowers the blade to his side and turns to face the screen. On the screen is a lovely female, around his age with long dark hair that drapes over her shoulders. She lets out a giggle.
“I’m sure they have the best intentions, besides it’s not like they know I exist, anyway.” She says rolling her eyes.
“Angel, I love you, but not even you can last an evening with the dates they have set up over and over again.” Damian sighs putting up the katana. He then picks up the laptop and goes to lie on his bed.
“Well, I’m sure it will all be fine. Besides, I have a surprise for you that is coming soon. Just hold out until then. Okay?” She says with a bright as a loud sound goes off in the background. Damian sighs and nods before ending the video call. He hates keeping her a secret, but it was the right thing to do.
It was a week later when his brothers came to him with another blind date proposal signally the tenth time that has happened in a span of a month. Everyone could see the growing frustration in the young Wayne heir. With the mention of dates, couples, restaurant, manhood, romance, it would set Damian off, although he was quick to calm down with a message from an Angel.
“Look Demon spawn, she is literally perfect for you.” It was an excuse, something for him to look forward to. No one is perfect.
“C’mon baby bird, she could be the one.” Another excuse. There was only one girl that was the one and she’s several hundred thousand miles away.
“Go, it all fancy and shit, also the NDA.” Ugh, this was becoming numbing. Damian could only wish to slide his fine blade across all their necks. Also, why the hell would Jason even mention an NDA to him in the first place?
“What is this? Another blind date for the young master?” Thank god for Alfred.
“Alfred, we promise this will be the last time.” That’s a lie and he knows it.
Damian could feel the growing headache forming at the back of his mind. Dick’s moving too fast, Tim’s giving him all the details about his so-called date, and well Jason is just being Jason.
“Enough!” Damian finally breaks. “The reason why I don’t like going on these so-called blind dates is because I’m betrothed to someone.” The word betrothed rings through the heads of his family members.
“Wha~!” Simultaneously, the older Waynes’ minds break.
“Is there any way you can break it off? A loophole even? How are you betrothed?” Shouldn’t that had been asked backward? They could all see the steam oozing out of Damian’s ears.
Crossing his arms and turning his back to his brothers, Damian looks down. “No, not unless you want a death on your hands. The only way to end a betrothal is to kill the other, that has always been the League’s away of things.” The second the last word left his lips, Damian walks away; he needs to talk with his Angel.
Still in shock, everyone turns to one another.
“How could we have missed that?” Tim screeches before taking a sip from his mug despite the shaking in his hand.
Dick was unsure what to say, think, or do. It’s not every day you learn the brother you’ve been setting up is engaged. An engagement that they could not break.
“I’m more worried who the brat is engaged too?” Jason murmurs then proceed to clean out his gun. His brothers stare at him with wide eyes unsure what to say to the second oldest.
For the next week after that bomb drop, his brothers continue to pester him about his betrothal, they even managed to include Bruce in the conversation a couple of times. If it wasn’t for Alfred, Damian knows that the pestering would have left someone in the hospital.
On a rare sunny day in Gotham, Damian had taken Titus out for a walk. It was clear his mind and to get away for the time being. Finding a nice park bench to sit on, he pulls out a small sketchpad and begins to sketch. Titus runs around enjoying the outdoors.
“Is this spot taken?” The voice sounded so familiar. He grunts ever once looking up the person afraid that he had misheard the voice. “Oh, c’mon Dams, I thought you would be happy to see me.” It was then that he looks up. In shock, he pushes the sketchpad to the side and pulls the person in front of him into his arms.
“I miss you.” He murmurs into her dark hair. “But how?”
“I managed to win the Martha Wayne scholarship, and then your butler Alfred got into contact with me about visiting.” She says looking up to Damian, though she was mainly seeing his chin due to their height difference. “You’ve grown.” She then pouts.
Damian lets out a soft chuckle, hoping that no one outside of his Angel heard him. His Angel places her head against his chest and together they stayed like that until Titus decided that he was some attention.
“Awe, he’s so cute.” She says petting the Great Dane.
Damian was internally happy to have her by his side for the first time in years. She’s the one that is perfect for him and it’s not because she was molded to be, but because she knows him inside and out.
When Damian, Titus, and his Angel returned to the manor, it is Alfred that they see first.
“Welcome home, young master, and Miss Dupain-Cheng.” Alfred greets the teen.
“Alfred, please call me Marinette, my last name can be a mouth full,” Marinette says giving the butler a smile. Alfred nods and proceeds to guide them to the living room. “So, this is the Wayne manor, those photos you send me Dams does this no justice.”
Damian once again chuckles knowing she’ll be in a heavily inspired by the architecture which will then cause her to go dark until she finishes whatever project came out of the inspiration.
“Angel, how about I give you a proper tour of the manor?” He offers to which she gladly takes.
Marinette had been staying at the Wayne manor for a couple of days before Damian brothers make their grand entrance. Without catching sight of the girl, they make their way to the youngest Wayne hoping to get some answers about his betrothal.
“Um, you can ask me if you want,” Marinette says from behind the boys causing an outcry of emotions.
“What you’re real?” It was Tim rubbing his eyes that speaks first.
Marinette awkwardly nods, “And you need sleep. I have a special brew that can knock anyone out within seconds.” She says to Tim before turning to the others. “I’m Marinette, nice to meet you.”
Dick and Jason stare at the girl lost for words. Dick was internally gushing about her size and how cute she is compared to Damian while Jason struggles to comprehend the person in front of him.
Marinette closes the gap between her and Jason. She looks over the second oldest and smiles sadly. “You have so much darkness around you. The same that used to be around Dams. I could help you if you want.” She says taking the male’s hand.
Jason was lost for words. This person was willing to help him. He wasn’t sure how to feel but the light flowing off of this tiny person was overpowering.
“That’s it you’re my new favorite sibling. I will protect you with my life.” Dick cries out starting the competition of who’s Marinette’s favorite brother-in-law.
Not surprisingly enough, Marinette warmed her way into the Wayne family. She even bonded with Steph, Cass, and Barbara whenever the girls came over for a girls-only day. Damian quickly was reminded why he didn’t want his family to know about her, seeing that he barely has time with her as his siblings take all the time away. Though it has it’s benefits. He can now visit Marinette in France without needing to sneak away and she could come to visit the manor whenever she wants.
Damian knew the moment he said “I do”, she’ll be his forever in life and in death just like he’ll be hers forever.

Destroyed by Him
A/N: Hi everyone! This isn’t a new fic, but I’m posting it again since the link isn’t working. Hope you enjoy it again!
 “What the actual fuck, Y/N?”
That angry, hateful but with passion voice belongs to none other than Jason Todd. He must have just come back from patrol, and while he usually returns home hungry and in a good mood (if patrolling went well), this was a different side of him I wasn’t entirely used to.
Given that I haven’t been very close to Jason, I’ve heard of his standard behavior many times. When he meets new people, he’s more guarded, more snippy and likely to become a big asshole. And when he’s around the people he’s closest to, he’s more friendly, sarcastic at times, and even a dork when it comes to his favorite literature and weapons.
And the fact that Jason knows me well enough to cuss me out for being alone with Dick is surprising. He’s never shown favoritism with me since he’s so close to Barbara, Stephanie, and Cassandra.
Jason’s always there when Barbara needs a hand on her patrol.
Jason’s always supporting Stephanie with her on and off again relationship drama with Tim Drake.
Jason even holds Cassandra on the couch during their “bonding” time. Jason would either read a worn-out book of his, or watch TV, while Cassandra naps on his lap.
The thing is, Jason is only a lovable dork who gives big, tight teddy bear hugs to girls he’s closest to.
I’ve seen the hugs. I’ve seen him hold other girls. But I’ve never been embraced by him before.
And the one time I could have used his help was when my ex-boyfriend Kyle was stalking me on campus late one night.
I even forced myself to call Jason for help (since Alfred was in London, Bruce was in Metropolis helping Superman, and Tim and Damian were on team missions).
But Jason was far too busy fooling around with Artemis, who was currently on his new Outlaws team.
Ever since then, I always thought the hotheaded former Robin strongly disliked me. I mean, I never knew why so I always just ignored it and ignored him.
But here Jason Todd stands with a violent scowl on his face; judging Dick and I every passing second.
Who gives him the right to judge me? No one, that’s who!
“What the hell are you yelling about? I’m not doing anything that should affect you or have you concerned about me,” I say, sounding as strong and tough that I can. Maybe not so much...
Jason laughs; his laugh is deep and full of mockery. His eyes warn me of how disappointed and angry he is with me.
“You’re not doing anything that should affect me or have me concerned about you?” Jason repeats, as he comes closer to Dick and I before he’s barely touching me. “You sound too honest about it. But lucky for you, I can smell liars when I see them.”
“Jason, just back off. Okay? Leave Y/N alone,” Dick warns him.
“How can I back off knowing Bruce fucked her on the counter, and knowing she gave you the wildest blow job in your life? How can I also forget how you just finger fucked her, and not taste that sexy pussy you have complete access to?” Jason demands. Now he’s pissed off and he’s shouting violently with rage in his eyes.
My eyes widen at him. “B-but why are you so pissed about it? You don’t even like me, so why the fuck would you be pissed off about all that?” I challenge him.
It’s like everything in Jason Todd snapped. All rational thoughts have been tossed to the side, he sets his Red Hood helmet down on the counter hard; beside the used paper towel with Bruce’s cum, that has yet to be thrown away.
“You think I don’t care about you?” Jason whispers, he sounds as if he can’t believe me.
“I don’t think. I know for a fact that you don’t like me. And guess what? I don’t like you either,” I snap. I can’t believe I just lied to Jason. Of course, I like him! He’s...fucking Jason Todd; Sex God.
And the most adorable nerd in the entire world.
Jason scoffs now. He bites his bottom lip, before his body relaxes and loses the built-up tension.
“Okay Dickiebird, get the fuck out of the kitchen. Now.”
“Jason, just stop and calm down,” Dick says, as he tries reasoning with him.
“I said to get the fuck out of the kitchen, Dick, or so help me God, I’ll shoot you in your kneecaps and you’ll be on bed rest for the rest of the year,” Jason threatens viciously.
Dick signs and shakes his head. “I’ll be in the living room,” he whispers to me, before heading out and leaving Jason and I alone.
At least Dick will be in the living room; not too far away from me in case Jason shoots my kneecaps instead.
Jason exhales deeply, before he faces me once more.
“You wanna know how I can smell liars, Y/N? I can still smell your arousal. You’ve cum how many times now? Two? Three? Not at all, or what?” Jason asks curiously. He tries to get closer to me, but I back away until my lower back hits the corner of the counter and I fall onto the floor, in excruciating pain.
He smirks and looks down at me. I groan at my injury and wonder what’s he trying to accomplish right now.
“Fuck...I don’t know how the old man and Dick didn’t want to eat your pussy. You smell so good. You smell good enough to eat right now, baby girl. I bet you taste so fucking good. I wanna taste you so bad...” Jason moans. He quickly unbuckles his belt and zips his pants to stroke himself through his black boxers.
“J-Jason...what are you doing?”
“What does it look like I’m doing, Y/N? You’ve never seen a guy stroke himself in front of a fucking beautiful girl before?”
“Y-you think I’m beautiful?” I ask softly.
Jason quickly drops to his knees, parts my legs, and settles in between them. He sits me up, despite the aching pain behind me, and forces me to look into his hypnotizing eyes. His pupils are dilated; and I can tell his breathing is harder than before.
“I know you’re beautiful, doll. I-I was just being a dick as usual, since...I don’t like letting people into my life. I don’t want to bore you with how I’ve been abandoned, have trust issues, and don’t necessarily know how to...care for people the way they care about me,” Jason admits, and sheepishly looks away due to his lack of confidence. He’s always doubted himself, and always put himself down compared to Dick. “I’ve always liked you, Y/N. I like you so much that I thought if anyone had a chance with you, it would obviously be Dick. I mean, have you seen me? I’m not exactly ‘best boyfriend material’. I sleep with a gun under my pillow for fuck’s sake!”
“Hold on Jason. No one’s talking about me having boyfriend right now. Let’s just go to the living room and talk there, okay?” I suggest.
“Oh, I don’t think so, Y/N. You see, I already have you beneath me, with your stained panties on, and your legs already open for me.”
“I don’t think we should be doing this...” I begin, before Jason interrupts me and slams his lips against mine.
Our lips together match like puzzle pieces. Jason’s tongue is dominate in my mouth as well, but his lips are soft and caress against mine. Who would have thought Jason could be such a great kisser?
Jason hastily pulls away from me; revealing our long, spit strand between our mouths. We’re both breathing hard now.
“If you don’t think this is a great idea, then why are you grinding against me to feel my cock, Y/N? Oh, baby girl, I’m not going anywhere, and neither are you. I wanna taste you so bad, and maybe if you’re a good girl who lets me eat you out so good, maybe I’ll even fuck you better than my old man and ass-kissing brother. I’ll show you how to properly scream my name, beg for me to make you cum, and want me even after our fun,” Jason vows, before he pulls my yoga pants and panties down in one swift movement. The second my glistening pussy is exposed to him, Jason glances up, and grins evilly. “Now, be prepared for your pussy to be destroyed by me.”

All Heavy interactions in Poker Night at the Inventory.
For you to interpret however you wish.
Video Version
(They have [bootleg movies] in your country?) "I like movies, yes." (Yeah, like what? [Lists movies]?) "No. My favorite are The Dirty Dozen and the first twenty minutes of Rocky four."
(We can talk Tetris?) "Hmmph. Tetris is baby game." (Tetris Attack keeps it hood!) "Why does everybody think I love this Tetris? It is just stacking!"
"[To Strongbad] Tiny Heavy." (What is it?) "Do you get the nightmares?" (I get the jibblie nightmares. [Describes silly nightmare, shivers].) "I am talking about the visions of endless suffering. Dead doctors everywhere. Spy can not be found. (No, but that sounds like the Jibblies.) "I do not like these 'jibblies.'"
"Strong and bad. How is boxing career?" (These. Are. My. HANDS!) "I was boxer, once. In school. We have to either box or learn to herd goats." Silence, looking concerned. "I am not good with goats..." (Too much information, man.) "At first, I do not like punching other boys... But then I learn to love it." Punches his palm menacingly.
(Find any rare drops lately?) "I do not understand." (When you get a kill, you get a present?) "When I get kill, I get honor of team." Smile drops. "Sometimes... I also get nightmares. A man does not go home to his wife and children." (So, no loot?) "Oh! You mean hat! Yes, I love hats! Sometimes, I get these. They are the best."
(Hey, Heavy. You know any hot Russian spies?) "I hate spies." (But you gotta have the inside line on some deadly minxes.) "You want hot spy?" (Am I not wrestle man?) "I have friend who gets you a hot spy. (Get em on the two-way, man!) "His name is Pyro." (Tycho, to Strongbad: The spy is hot because it is on fire.) (Oh...)
"[To Tycho] What do you do with life?" (Me?) "Yes. What is possible with tiny, frail body?" (I occupy myself with simulations... of various kinds.) "What is these?" (Struggles to explain.) (Strongbad: He lives in his parent's basement.)
(So, is there a Mrs. Weapons Guy?) "No. Sasha is my only love." (Sasha kills people, I presume?) "No." (Oh?) "WE kill people."
"[To Strongbad] Maybe you and I box?" (I can't risk my beautiful face, it's the franchise.) "We spar. For fun." (I don't think so.)
"Strong and bad. You wrestle? With mask?" (No, I'm a wrestle man, not those hack wrestle-LERS.) "Not like Iron Sheik?" (No, Iron Stake is a LER.) Heavy nods. "Hmm. This is too bad."
(So how long you been with those Team Fortress fellas?) "I do not understand." (The game's been on Steam for like 3 years. I imagine there was some audition process?) "Ohhh! Yes, I understand! I kill many men VERY quickly." (Excuse me?) "I kill record number of soldiers, and I am commissioned to join RED team."
(Mr. Weapons. I am in the market for a new firearm. [Specifications].) "Hmm, for you I do not recommend minigun then. You know, there is this fast baby man that annoys me greatly with shotgun." (Oh! Oh! What are the available options? I'll spring for leather!) "Da, this is good for you. I suggest Force-A-Nature." (I'll tell them [shop owner] Heavy Weapons Guy sent me.) "It is no need. I know guy."
"I will make hat from you, little bunny." No reply from anyone. A reference for the player to the Max hat in TF2.
"You look familiar, bunny." (How closely do you follow the Manhattan Crime Blotter?) Also a reference to the hat, Tycho then takes over conversation.
(If I need someone snuffed out, what's your going rate?) "Five hundred thousand U.S. dollars." (Steep.) "Cash." (You can do it discreetly?) "Sasha... not so discreet." (That's fine.)
(How did you guys hear of the inventory?) "My engineering friend brought me one night."
(This reminds me of the time Artie Flopshark rigged an entire poker tournament to pay off his loan shark.) "I know of this. This is respectable profession in motherland." Conversation is stolen by Tycho.
(This reminds me of [story]!) "I am reminded of time Engineer kill my entire team." (Damn Heavy, that's... heavy. Sorry to hear that.) "I search entire base for him. He tries to kill me with turret and mini turret, but I crush his toys like they are made of paper." (Sounds like crappy toys.) "Then I find him. Hiding by teleporter. I take his gun away from him. He tries to hit me with wrench! Hahohoh! So I take wrench away from him. I take his wrench and shove it down his throat, all the way down to the handle." (Christ!) Heavy laughs. "Then I rip off all his fingers one by one!" He talks while laughing. "Lets see you build toys now!" He breaks out in laughter. "There's blood- everywhere! And- he's crying!" More laughter. "I think he cries out for mother, but- but-" Crumples over laughing. "The wrench is stuck in his throat! And it sounds like-" Makes choking motions and noises then laughs. "Is this not the funniest thing??" (Horrified looks) (Head shakes slowly.) (That's some bleeped up bleep, man!)
(How about you, Heavy weapons? I'm guessing you're a vodka guy?) "Peach Bellini. But bubbles can give me headache."
(Mr. Weapons, how do you like your line of work?) "It is good. There are many benefits." (Oh! Like a free pass to snuff out bad guys or a waffle bar?) "Both. And full dental."
(I wonder if this dump is haunted.) (I hope so! Roughing up who can't die is fun!) "...I do not like ghosts..." (It's okay, Mr. Weapons. I have [extensive experience]. I can handle a few ghosts.) "...You will take care of ghosts for me?" (You bet cha!) Heavy nods at him. "I like you, tiny rabbit."
[Story including a union] "I am union. RED local six fifteen." (You guys unionized?) "Eh. It was necessity for group medical."
"Tycho. This sweater, is special equipment?" (No, standard issue.) "You have no class specific head gear?" (Got a motorcycle helmet that protects from 100% of UV rays.) "This sounds beneficial."
(Why do you keep calling me 'Tiny Heavy'?) "You are Heavy. Tiny. No? You are RED team. You have killing gloves of boxing. You earn these for being great killer! You should try out for RED team." (Hmm. Guess I could join your team of ruthless killers and lame hat wearers and watch you get grenaded by 8 year olds.) "You will take many bullets before dying I think."
(Hey, Heavy. I just finished [Russian fantasy book]. Ever read it?) "No." (Oh. What's your favorite book?) "I prefer war." (Ah, War and Peace. Tasteful.) "No. Just war." (Art of War?) "Nyet." Silence. "I like 'Tsar Hunger' by Leonid Andreyev. You know this?" (...No.) "Is classic."
"You have hands like young girl." (I keep them shits moist.) "...So you are more of sneaky, stabbing type?" (In an extreme circumstance, I guess.) Heavy looks at him suspiciously. "I keep my eyes on you." (No, no no- I wasn't implying that-) Heavy looking at him angierly. (Shit.)
(Ever listen to music while you work?) "Yes! I just buy new walkman." (What gets you in the killing mood? Icelandic death metal?) "I just get Huey Lewis tape. Keeps spirits up on battle field."
"[To Tycho] You have woman?" (Not with me) "She is pretty?" (Yeah, cute, glasses, red hair.) "She has the red hair??" (No, Heavy! She is not on the other team! Don't have to kill her!) "No. But I love the red hair!" (Well, you can't have her, either.) Re-used image of Heavy looking at him angrily. (Well, maybe we can work something out.)
(Hey, Heavyman. You think you can 'take care' of the King of Town for me?) "I can assassinate king, yes. It is expensive, though." (By take care of I meant sneak in and shave off half his mustache.) "I am not best at sneaking." (Confront him in a dark alley then?) "This is better. That way blood wash away in rain."
(You have any interest in moonlighting?) "WHAT? I am not moonlighter!" (Just a little work on the side with Sam and me beating up goons!) "Oh. I can not do this." (C'mon it's fun and free!) "No, I am sure it is." (Then what's the problem?) "I have non compete." (Ah, yeah. Lawyers.)
(All these aces reminds me of [weird dream]. You have any weird dreams, Mr. Weapons?) "I sometimes dream that I am killed. There is blood everywhere. (Tycho gives him a weird look) But then I wake up and I realize this is ridiculous! Nobody can kill Heavy weapons guy! (Riiiight...)
"[To his chips] This is good Solider. This one is good Doktor. You are demolition man."
"Saaaandvich, sandvich, I love you sandvich!" (Would you like someone to order you some food?)
"Blue man." (Tycho.) "Tycho. What college do you go to? You are educated, no?" (Actually, no.) "No?" (I studied at Gygax Polyhedral if you catch my drift.) "I do not. This is good school?" (Uh. The best.) "I went to Soviet College of Mines, Farms, and Science. I have PhD in Russian literature." (Do you.. use that in your work?) "More than you think."
"Tiny Heavy, who is your favorite to kill in war?" (Those discount three-pack green helmets.) "To kill spy is glorious thing! How about you, Max? You are killing type." (My favorite enemy? Like asking me to choose between my children!) Heavy laughs. "You crack me up, little bunny!"
(Hey, Hefty Bag, you ever play video games?) "Just one." (Oh yeah?) "It is called-" (Tycho: WoW?) "Nyet. That is not popular. It is called 'Where's an Egg'." (Strongbad: I love Where's an Egg!) "Where's an Egg is as big as Tetris in homeland."
(Concerning your firearm, whay caliber we talking?) "Big." (What, we talking 300 Weatherby Mag here?) "Bigger." (50 cal, whereabouts?) "Bigger than 50 caliber. They are hand made custom tool cartridges with classified diameter." (Why's that?) "So enemy canmot use ammunition. But Sasha can chew through theirs." (Diabolical!) "I think so." Nods.
(Alright, big pretend killer man. Tell me the most awesome story you have with plenty of senseless violence!) Heavy thinks. "When I was boy, I was at camp, being trained in many ways of combat." (Assassination camp for kids! This is gonna be good!) "There was sparrow sitting on fence. Snow falls quietly around me. Without notice, another boy jumps from behind tree and kills sparrow with throwing knife. The boy runs away." (And then??) "I pick up sparrow, and hear his last breath before digging him tiny grave..." (Tycho crying) (Max silent) (That's not even a little bit funny, man.) Heavy shakes his head solemnly. "No..." Sits back. "It's not."
(So, what do you do for fun?) "Clean Sasha. Use Sasha... Clean Sasha again." (Proper maintience is crucial.) "I also collect old coins." (A fellow numismatist!) "Which I melt down to make custom bullets." (Of course.)
"I am hungry for sandvich." (Then order a sandvich, man.) "Oh, I can not have sandvich! I become unstoppable killing machine!" (Yeah, maybe order a water.) "Is best."
"You wear blue sweater." (All the time.) "What are you?" (Haven't we went over this?) "You are not Scout. Maybe very tricky blue Spy? Maybe... new class?" (I can use a keyboard to sabotage your entire team, steal your intelligence, and have your sister delivered to my doorstep in one afternoon. Yes, I'm a new class.) Heavy, shocked, "This is true??"
(Hey, Heavyman, what's your living situ-aysh?) "I live in RED barraks. Is nice. There is foos table." (How about taking a room in the house of Strong?) "There is vacancy?" (First you'll have to dump the current person in your room.) "This is enemy?" (He won't put up much of a fight.)
Hope you enjoyed, spent most of the day copying all these down. The non-Heavy lines are paraphrased for shortness. Heavy's are full, how they are in game.

Fire, Fur & Mistletoe  Chapter 4
Tumblr media
Pairing- Eventual Dean x Female Reader.
Word Count-3,045
Warning- Mentions of car accidents.  Possible swearing. Slight angst. Fluff.
Summary- A rewrite of the Nine Lives of Christmas, Hallmark movie. AU, Dean is a firefighter who doesn’t do commitment, the Holiday’s don’t mean much to him.  Coming home after a shift he finds a dog in trouble.  The reader is a veterinary student who works in a coffee shop trying to make it to graduation, until someone causes problems there for her.  She isn’t interested in finding anyone other than her own dog until after she finishes school.  Do their four legged friends have other plans?
A/N- This series is written for @spnchristmasbingo.  The square filled for this chapter is presents.  The first two chapters will stay closer to the movie than the rest will.   This has its own tag list and it is open.  That way I am not tagging anyone who doesn’t want to be tagged in Christmas stories.   This story is unbeta’d.

Series Masterlist   The next morning you were in the kitchen looking through ads when Dean came down.  “I was wondering what do you think about doing our Christmas shopping together?  I thought it would be fun to tackle the stores together?”
“I usually just do Visa gift cards, or regular gift cards.”
“Do you remember how you were saying you can’t recall the last time you really enjoyed Christmas?”
“Yeah, you really think going to the mall is going to help me feel..”  He paused looking at you with a smirk, “Christmassy?”
“I think going and seeing all the festive decorations could help.  One afternoon, we can make it fun, I promise.”
“I’m holding you to that.”
“So you’ll go?”
“Yeah, we can give it a shot.”
“I’m going to help you do it right this year.  We can go to the mall after your shift tomorrow.”
“I can hardly wait,” he grumbles as you leave the kitchen.
Tumblr media
Dean’s shift started earlier today, he headed in just before noon.  They started off busy before things slowed down.  They were called out for two car accidents, the light snow falling today causing some problems.  Dispatch also had them at two nursing homes.  The first resident was fine and back on their feet before they and the paramedics left.  The second was a fall and the poor guy wasn’t happy about having to go to the hospital to be checked out further.
When things calmed down later Dean was sitting in the common room with Sam and Benny. Those two watching the game, Dean going through paint samples.
“What are you trying to figure out now?”  Sam wanted to know.
“Which color is going to look best in the dining room. I picked up some new color swatches on the way in.  I have a light green, pale blue, a really light grey, or a cream.”
“Which one does the design genius living with you like?” Benny questioned.
“She thought maybe a light green would go with the trim in there.”
“I’d go with what she likes so you don’t have to redo it in a year or so.”
“What’s being redone in a year?”  Bobby asked walking in.
“I hope to have sold it by then.”
“Dean’s trying to pick a paint color, we told him to go with what Y/N picked so he wouldn’t have to redo it later when everything is all done and she doesn’t like it.”
“Yep, need to keep the women happy.”  Bobby agrees.
“How’s the girlfriend doing while we are on that subject?”  His brother wanted to know.
“You’ve all lost me. Still don’t have a girlfriend.”
“Are you sure about that Chief?  You do spend a lot of time with her.  You trust her opinion to remodel your house.”
“What was your excuse earlier about not going out with us tomorrow?  Oh right you have plans with Y/N, like a date.”
“What was going on the other day when you couldn’t come over and watch the game with me and your brother? Pretty sure you were with her again.”
“How many dates are you going to have before you realize you are dating?”
“Are you two morons done?  We aren’t dating.  I trust her opinion, because she’s good at this.  Still selling the house when I’m done.  She just wanted to get a tree for the house, so we picked one up and decorated it that night.”
“It really took you a couple hours to pick up a tree, did you carry it home.”
“No, we went to a tree farm, not a tree lot.”
“Hold up.  You actually went and cut down a tree for her?  You wouldn’t do that for me. We always went to the tree lot and just grabbed one.  You are more gone on this girl than you think.”
“You are reading too much into a simple tree, Sam.”
“What are you busy doing when the shifts over?”  Benny wanted to know.
“Apparently Christmas shopping.  She thinks it will be fun to do it together.”
“You, Dean Winchester are going Christmas shopping?”
“Why are you saying it like that?”
“I wasn’t sure you knew what a mall was, I’ve been getting a gift certificate from you for years now.”
“And I’ve had enough of this conversation, I’m going to go clean the truck or something.”
Dean walked out to the sound of the guy's laughter.
Tumblr media
When his shift ended the next day Dean headed home to shower and change so he would be ready to head to the mall with you.  You were in the living room sitting with the dogs when he came down.
“I’m ready if you are.”
“I’m good to go.  I’ll see you babies later.”  Giving the dogs each a little hug you got up to follow Dean to the truck.
As you are entering the mall Dean turns to you.  “I realized I haven’t told you lately, thanks for your help with the house.  I might just be able to sell it sooner than I thought.  I really appreciate all you have been doing.”
That caught you off guard.  “Oh yeah, no problem.”  You had gotten wrapped up in staying with him you kind of forgot it was temporary, and that wasn’t really his home.
“That’s really great.  You didn’t just fix a house this time, you created a beautiful home.  Some family is going to be incredibly lucky.”
Dean nods, sneaking a glance at you, “Yeah they are.”
“Alright, who’s on your list?” You were eager to change the subject.
“My brother and his girlfriend, Jess.  Bobby, he’s the Fire Chief.  Cas and Benny, you met all them at the station when you found Miracle.”
“Okay.  Any ideas on what to get?”
“Gift cards.”
“No.”
“Then I don't know.”
“You’re helpful.  What is your brother’s girlfriend like, what kind of things does she like?”
“Um, she’s a nurse.  She likes my brother.  I think she likes the beach.”  This might be harder than you thought.
“What about any of the guys?”
“Sam likes Jess, and healthy crap like green shakes. He’s always bringing some into work. Benny wants a girlfriend.   Cas, who knows.  He’s a little different some days.  He does like to sit and think, and bees. He’s a tad obsessed with them.  Chief likes, um his job, family, Miracle.”
“Okay, so where do you want to start?”
“That store sells gift cards to multiple places.”  He points to a big store behind you.
“The next time you’re at work I’m going to paint the living room hot pink if you mention gift cards again in the next hour.”
Dean starts to open his mouth but isn’t too sure how serious you are, so he shuts it again and rethinks what he wants to say.  “What do you need to get?”  He asks instead.
“A gift for my sister and brother-in-law, then a few friends.  I have a thought for your brother if you want to hear it?”
“Sure, what are you thinking?
“The bookstore might have a recipe book for different health drinks, maybe we can find a little smoothie maker so he could make them fresh at the station instead of bringing and storing them.”
Dean thinks about if for a minute, “He would actually probably like that, although I hate to enable his bad habit.”
Laughing at his jab at his brother you head toward your destination.
The book store is your first stop, while there you browse through the shelves to see if anything else catches your eye.   Finding a book, The Buzz about Bees, you show it to Dean who puts it in the cart for Cas. As you were heading to the check out, Dean started laughing at a book which caught his eye.
“What’s so funny?”
“I have to get this for Bobby, it’s Tori Spelling's autobiography.”
“Um, okay. That’s a random gift.”
“Bobby is a closet fan.  Big fan actually.  Not very many people know.”
“I’m sure he’ll be thrilled.”  Maybe you should have let him get his boss a gift card.
At the sporting goods store he found some fishing gear for Benny who likes to spend time on his sometimes girlfriend boat.  Dean figured they were due to get back together soon.
While there you found part of your sister's gift.  You got her an extra magazine for her off duty gun, and a new cleaning kit.  The woman loved her weapons.
Heading to the next store you came across some Santa hats and antlers you made Dean try on with you and take some selfies.  He grumbled about it at first but he did seem to have fun with it, making silly faces in the photos.
With your hands full you took what you had out to the truck so you didn’t have to carry it to the rest of the stores.  The fishing gear was a little big to lug around.
Coming back inside Dean suggested a quick stop at the food court for a snack before hitting more stores.
Tumblr media
You grabbed your drinks of choice and a couple of cookies and sat down for a few minutes. Dean was complaining because none of them sold pie.  The mall was starting to get busier and people were hustling everywhere.
“Do you enjoy shopping and all this craziness?”  Dean asked, drawing your attention away from people watching.
“Generally no.  I’m a get in get out person.  My sister and I used to try and go together, but she’s busier with work and she has Doug to go with.  I’m used to doing most things on my own now.   It’s better if you have someone with you, which is why I thought we could have fun with it.”
“I will admit, this hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be.  You did make it fun. Thank you for that.”
“No problem,” you give him a small smile and go back to drinking your coffee.
The next stop was the pet store for some treats for your favorite four legged friends.  You passed stockings on the way in and went to pick one up.
“Dakota needs a new stocking, does Miracle have one yet?”
“No, he doesn’t have a stocking.  I don’t think I even have one.”
“Well, we need to remedy that for the both of you.”
“Of course we do.”
There weren’t many stockings left.  They were on one side of a middle aisle display, the back side had various balls and kongs.  The few stockings that  were there were on the back of a shelf behind some toys.  You had to move the toys out of your way to pick through the stockings.  With one arm full of squeaking toys you used one hand to look at the stockings.
“Do you need help?”
“No, I’m good.”
“Uh huh.”
You found two white and red stockings you liked so you were pulling them out, when your elbow hit a toy still on the shelf, trying to use your arm to keep it up on the shelf you missed the toy and hit the display instead.  Apparently you used more force than you meant because the display you were looking at tipped backward and hit the one behind it.  This sent various balls and kongs bouncing to the ground.
Dean was leaning against a wall with his arms crossed watching, “Now do you need help?”
Tumblr media
“It appears so.”
Other people in the store did their best to avoid your mess while the two of you cleaned it up.  Getting the last toy back on the shelf you pick up the stockings and turn to Dean.  “What do you think about these?”
Tumblr media
“I think we aren’t going to go through that again just so you can pick out a different one. So let’s go with those and head out before you knock over the display of canned food.”
“You don’t want to clean that up too?”
“Let’s save that one for the next time we’re here.”
Sam’s girlfriend was a little harder than you thought since you didn’t know her and Dean wasn’t much help.  You ran with his comment about her liking the beach and picked up some scented lotions and bath bombs along with hand cream.  Being a nurse her hands would be constantly washed and most likely very dry.
In a men’s store you found a new tie for your brother in law to go with the briefcase organizer you found for him.
You found a mug that Charlie would get a kick out of.  You also came across a Hermione Granger bobblehead she would like.
Tumblr media
You had picked up a couple small things for your old coworkers, Claire and Kevin.  You did miss working with those two.
There was one more person on your list, but it was hard with him right next to you.
Dean’s shopping was done, he had picked up some little things to complete Bobby and Cas’ gifts.
Browsing the picture frames as you walked by you saw one you had to get.
Tumblr media
You had the perfect picture to put inside.  Dean had texted you a picture from the station one day of him and Miracle.  Miracle was wearing Dean’s firehat, both were in front of the fire truck.
You passed Santa in his village the mall had put up.  “Are you sure you don’t want to ask Santa for anything this year?”
“I told you Sweetheart, he and I are extremely close.  I’m good.”
“If you say so.”
“I think you need to go see Santa though.”
“What me?”
“Yep, you keep trying to send me so why don’t you go tell him your wish.”  Dean stood there smirking at you, fully believing you wouldn’t do it.
“Okay.”
“Okay, you’re going to go up there?”
“Yep.”  You went and got in line behind a group of young children, who all turned to stare at you.  Oh this wasn’t awkward at all. Dean had walked off while you stood in line waiting your turn.  A part of you thought about walking away and telling Dean you had gone through the line already when he returned.
“Got you something.”  Too late, he’s back.  He was handing you a bag and trying to hold back a smile.
Warily you took the bag and opened it up, chuckling when you saw what was inside.  “I’m going to guess I’m supposed to wear this up there?”
Tumblr media
“You know it.”
Dean stood next to you in line as you waited, when you were the next one up, you took the elf hat he gave you out of the bag and put it on your head.  “How do I look?”
“Like Santa’s perfect helper.”
Heading up you were fairly certain Santa was looking for a child with you, and finally realized there wasn’t one.  “Ho ho ho, what can Santa bring you for Christmas, miss?”
While in line you had been thinking about what to say when you go up here.  “I have a friend over there who has had a rough time of it over the years.  He’s lost his Christmas spirit and the belief in happy endings.  I wish he could find that again.”
“Well, that’s some Christmas wish.”  He looks over at Dean who’s smiling at the two of you.  “It looks like someone is already working on bringing that Christmas spirit back to him.  Santa will see what he can do to help.  Is there anything for you?”
“Not unless your workshop is looking for another elf.”
Giving you a candy cane he wishes you a Merry Christmas and sends you off.
“So what did you ask Santa for?”
“I can’t tell you or it won’t come true.”
“I think you are confusing Santa with birthday wishes.”
“Either way, I’m not telling you.  You can ask Santa since you are so close though.”
Dean just shakes his head at you.
Behind Santa was a Christmas shop and you dragged Dean inside with you to find him a stocking.   Holding up a Grinch stocking he shook his head, next you tried Superman.
“I’m sorry you have me mistaken for someone else, I’m Batman.”
You looked around.  “You aren’t the only one.  Sorry, Batman is all sold out.  There is Batgirl though.”
“I’ll keep looking.”
“Pink snowflakes?”
“I’m really starting to doubt your decorating tastes now.”
You laughed at that and went through a few more stockings.
“What kind of crazy is on your stocking?”
“It’s the same one I had growing up, classic red and white with my name in glitter.  It looks like that one over there.”
Dean walked over where you had pointed and looked at those.  “That’s what I want too, I don’t need flashy or cartoons.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yep.”
Tumblr media
Finishing your shopping you were on your way back to the truck to head home.  After unloading the packages in the living room Dean headed for the kitchen.
“Are you good with ordering pizza for dinner?”
“I can make something up really quick.”
“I know you could, but I thought we had to wrap all that stuff we got today.  I figured we didn’t need another mess.”
“If you want that’s fine with me.”
You made sure to take what you had for Dean up to your apartment before you came back to start wrapping anything else.  When the pizza was ordered Dean did his best to help you out.  You were surprised by how well he did.
“You buy gift cards for people, I wouldn’t think you had practice with wrapping.”
“We have to wrap all the donated toys for the kids every Christmas, so I get my fair share of practice with that.  Bobby wouldn’t let us hand out sloppily wrapped gifts to the kids.”
The two of you took a break from wrapping when the pizza arrived then went back to finishing it up. When the presents are wrapped and under the tree Dean builds a fire and you go off to make some popcorn.  When you come back the stockings are all hung over the fireplace.
Tumblr media
The two of you get comfy on the couch with another Christmas movie playing while you enjoy the fire and the sight of the tree and gifts around you.
Thank you for reading!!

KSIGJICNRJCNEHCBD HELLO HELLO WELCOME TO THE HELL THAT IS KNOWING ZUTARA IS EVERYTHING AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN WRITTEN AS SUCH !!!! wow i love that you are as angry as i was (and am every rewatch? yikes) this is amazing i knew you're my favorite but yeah wow man this really. confirms it whew high five
yeah it’s pretty wild how I knew this was what happened and was already bracing for it and yet STILL got completely misled by the narrative??? MEN I tell you MEN. I’m also going to use this ask as a method to reply to some of the other commentary if you don’t mind since this seems like a good place for communal frustration (here is my original post for anyone scrolling around lost)
@meg-hemmings: I agree with all of ur thoughts and I would TOTALLY read anything you wrote for Zutara … your writing is among my absolute favorite ever and I think you would write the Zutara dynamic so beautifully!
@one-man-propaganda-machine: I am - begging - you to write it yourself.
I... am not going to make promises, but I may have to. I want something very specific and that never bodes well for me. I doubt it would be more than a one-shot, but there are multiple scenes that could have occurred between episodes that would flesh out what was there (and of course I’d cut the final 15 seconds of the show, much like another epilogue I loathe and ignore)
@deifiliaa: omg atla discourse in 2021; olivie, i’d love to see what your character tier list looks like now that you’ve finished the series 👀
I’m going to put azula at the top. not because she’s a good person obviously but she’s FULL. OF. HITS. every time she’s on the screen the narrative gets immediately more interesting. she’s savvy and self-assured and I love it. her ending depressed me although I like that it was kind of about the loss of her two best friends? if that had been more of a focus I think I would have enjoyed it more but yeah, losing mai and ty lee could have been rightfully devastating. who among us is not totally obliterated by friend breakups. I also really loved uncle iroh; if anything that’s why I wasn’t invested in zuko’s storyline until close to the end, because watching him disappoint his uncle was very difficult (I get it, he’s a teenager, he’s growing and evolving and whatnot, but also I am closer to being his uncle than to being him so like, yeah). I also hope the peter pan revenge guy (JET that’s his name, sorry pregnancy kills my brain cells) did hook up with both katara and zuko. I love that journey for all three of them. I wanted more time with mai than we got, so there wasn’t quite enough there to love... but I was very down with ty lee interfering on her behalf. what a pivotal moment
of the core characters I think I was quickest to love sokka; the episode where he apologizes to suki and asks her to train him cemented it for me. I think it’s a big deal to show boys apologizing on-screen and owning their misconceptions. I like katara a lot—she’s what a lot of people do with fanon hermione. toph is also great, and part of me feels there is a strong basis for a ship with aang that balances their opposing energy, though I also like the idea of them being platonic besties. aang is... twelve. pretty much every time he was on the screen mr blake (a teacher) was like “man, aang is such a seventh grader,” so it was nice how convincing that was for his emotional journey, but at the same time it was hard to forget he was in seventh grade. appa and momo are STARS. I am sure I have mentioned this before but mr blake really loves animals and he was devastated by appa’s kidnapping; he hugged our dog for about ten minutes after aang found appa. after he decided I was zuko, he speculated that he is closest to aang but he’s not happy about it lol. “ugh, aang and I are such boring pacifists” was I believe his take on the subject
@libbynico, who for some reason I can’t tag: so true! katara was literally something like a mother/older sister figure to aang the entire time, but whatever
yeah, I think it really sucks that katara, as the emotionally nurturing character, felt shoved into the role of love interest. it’s everything wrong with the distribution of emotional labor in male-female relationships but sure, WHATEVER, apparently nobody thought to ask me in 2008
@touslesnoms: I liked “such selfish prayers” by andromeda3116 if you ever decide to read zutara after the series; the worst prisoner by emletish is super funny too
thanks for the recs! I will take them. I do want something very specific so I will be accepting recs until I find it lol. or until I lose composure and write it (yeah this is me WITH my composure, no wonder mr blake thinks I’m zuko, “I’m never happy” indeed)
@gaeleria: THANK YOU!!! Ugh omg that “I’m confused” kiss scene made me actively hate the ending. I knew ahead of time they were endgame, so I tried to make myself accept it early on. Like, I really didn’t like the pairing, but I wasn’t going to be emotionally invested in the romance and it was just going to be like, whatevs. AND THEN THEY WROTE THAT SCENE??! 1000% no. What was even the point of that scene? If they had written it to make Aang have some introspection and realize it’s not all about him, Katara’s feelings matter too, or even apologize, or anything… but no, there was literally no point to that scene. No character growth, it was never mentioned again. Ugh.
this is in answer to both you and beloved @zabbini: yeah this was a fuck-up for sure lol. I think it may come down to editing for time; the series is very irregularly paced, what with the majority of the action taking place in the final three episodes of a 16 episode season. or maybe it’s just because MEN CAN’T BE TRUSTED TO WRITE ROMANCE but either way yeah this was a real misstep and just truly, truly reeked of a particular (white) male attitude about how women think and what they owe. had a bad day, dudes? buy a gun, kiss your forever girl, do whatever you want and it’s fine! (I’m exaggerating but barely)
in terms of what’s so angering for me: a character like katara who previously had tons of agency was robbed of it when it came to her romantic arc, which is just really upsetting. and to be fair, I was equally upset when zuko instantly agreed to the agni kai with azula because it was like okay well katara’s extremely valuable, as you know, but now you want her to just sit on the sidelines...? (more of a story flaw than a relationship flaw, but my chest sunk a little at the idea that katara was going to sit by and watch as an accessory to zuko’s story when she’s a crucial weapon in their collective fight. what a waste, right?)
it’s also especially hard to buy into the aang thing when zuko’s method of problem-solving on katara’s behalf is there for comparison. he asks her what she needs in order to find closure and then from there, does everything necessary to get it without having to be asked twice. versus aang, who is a twelve-year-old pair of rogue lips who never wins any of his fights without the aid of phenomenal cosmic powers...? ugh I’m getting off track but in the end there’s just a complete lack of understanding what female audiences want, though again, I don’t think they were really considering that at all. which I guess is... fair, it’s not the point of the show, but then why make the ending romantic at all? to show that their brand of hero gets everything he wants, I guess
in conclusion in 2008 I’m not sure the industry was capable of doing better, which sucks but isn’t surprising. still, it does fit the components of “stuff I write fics for,” which is I enjoyed most of it but find myself enraged by slivers I compulsively need to fix—WHICH IS STILL NOT A PROMISE but ugh I can already feel myself giving in

For as long as you could remember, you were thrown into the world of danger. Your father, a notorious mafia leader, was the most respected, feared, and wanted man in South Korea. There was never a moment where you and your mother weren’t a target of some type of hostile fallout between your father and some other mafia members. Because of this, you never saw much of your father during your childhood. He kept his distance to keep you and your mother safe. In his place, he left his right hand guard, Dongwoo.
Dongwoo kept close watch of your mother and you, while training a young protégé. A boy named Jangjun. His father was a mafia guard and wanted his son to follow in his footsteps. Of course, Jangjun ended up having a huge falling out with his father, as he turned to Dongwoo as his father figure. You grew to like Jangjun. He was a lively boy with a giant personality. He lived to make people smile or laugh. Jangjun was always joking or yelling at the top of his lungs. When he needed to be serious, however, his temperament switched. Jangjun followed orders. He never shied away from a job.
As he got older, he grew into a devilishly handsome and incredibly talented man. And you took notice, big time. Jangjun truly blossomed, and in his eyes, so did you. You weren’t the quiet little girl that constantly ran to mommy with every tiny taunt made towards your giant thick-rimmed glasses. Instead, you grew into yourself. Thickened your skin, and became your father’s daughter. Every taunt Jangjun made now was met with a snarky remark that made his lips turn up into a smile. He thought you were beautiful.
You two were well aware of your feelings, but too stubborn to admit it. Jangjun because he didn’t want to believe in fate, and you because your father didn’t want you to be with someone that was a part of the mafia, a part of this life. A life full of danger and uncertainty. Unfortunately for him, your heart had other plans. You and Jangjun came clean with your feelings, and fell in love. As cheesy as it sounds, Jangjun was your other half. His personality never changed, and his love for you grew. Jangjun, himself, grew into a very powerful man. He became part of a mafia gang of his own which further fueled your father’s anger at your relationship.
Much to his dismay, you both got married. A small ceremony just on the outskirts of town. The only people present were your mother, Dongwoo, and Jangjun’s members. Your father being too bitter and self absorbed to show up. Not that you minded. Nothing, not even your father would ruin that day for you and Jangjun. You never bothered to get in touch with him after the wedding. Only opting to find out how he was through your mother. That’s how your father found out the news of the birth of your daughter, Mina.
If people thought Jangjun was head over heels for you, you would always tell them to watch how he acted with your daughter. Jangjun took being a dad to a whole other level. His senses heightened, and he took every precaution necessary to keep you and Mina safe. His whole world became about that little girl. A spitting image of her father, she had his bright smile, boisterous personality, and dark brown eyes. She was a crowd favorite, especially to Jangjun’s members like Bomin and Donghyun. When the members were around, they were the first two she ran too. Jangjun would always joke and say his daughter loved them more than she loved him. No one could be fooled though. No one would take her father’s place.
“Daddy!” You heard Mina yell as you folded up clean laundry in your bedroom.
Your husband’s laugh filled the large house you lived in as he made his way into your shared bedroom, your daughter perched in his arms. Identical facial expressions of crescent moon eyes and wide smiles made their way towards you as you gave both of them an amused look.
“Guess who I found hiding under daddy’s desk in his office?” Jangjun asked with a smile.
Your eyes went to the little girl who now had an innocent smile on her face, one she definitely learned from her father. “Office? Mina, you know daddy’s office is off limits.”
The little girl pouted, resembling her father through and through as she spoke in her little voice. “I was playing hide and seek with Joochan-ie.”
You and Jangjun laughed as he muttered. “Of course it was Joochan. Who else would let her get away with anything.”
Giving him a pointed look, you spoke. “Perhaps her father?”
Jangjun smiled at you before tickling the little girl’s stomach making her laugh. He set Mina down before kissing her forehead.
“Now, go play. With Bomin this time, since he’s the only one that listens.” Jangjun told her as her little legs carried her out of the room.
Just as she got past the threshold, you sighed. “You have to remind them not to let her into your office.”
Jangjun pulled you into his arms as he hummed, kissing your forehead. “I will.”
Kissing you softly, he pulled you even closer as you laid your hands on his chest. “I’m serious, Jun.”
Your husband pecked your lips once more. “I know you are. I’ll tell them. I promise.”
You nodded, feeling a little better at the situation. It wasn’t the area itself you were worried about, but rather the objects occupying the area. Jangjun kept all his weaponry in a locked closet in his office, but one pistol stayed perched under his desk in case of emergency. Your daughter’s knack of exploring (which she also got from Jangjun) worried you sometimes. You didn’t want her to ever find that weapon. She was too young to know any of the business her father was in, and you two planned to keep it that way for as long as possible.
Jangjun laid another soft peck, this time to your forehead before getting a notification on his phone, letting him know someone was here.
“Daeyeol?” You questioned, making your husband nod as his grip around your waist loosened.
He sighed before giving you a small smile and heading downstairs. You finished up with the laundry, putting things away where they were supposed to, stopping in Mina’s room to put her things away, before making your way downstairs. Passing by Jangjun’s closed office door, you stopped momentarily, wanting to sneak a listen, but remembered the talk your father had given you when he first caught you doing it when you were five. It scared the living daylights out of you, and since then you hadn’t done it. You never let your curiosity get the best of you.
You walked through the living room before landing in the kitchen, you looked over to the dining room and smiled. Your daughter sat on Bomin’s lap, coloring in a coloring book the boy must have pulled out as he watched. Upon hearing your footsteps, he looked up, giving you a smile. You returned it as you entered the kitchen, still watching the two. Bomin was on the newer side of this whole mafia thing. Being only 20 years old, he was raised in a mafia family, but much like your daughter, he was shielded away from it all. Bomin was tall, slim, and just looked like a baby. Sporting a very youthful look, it surprised people to hear his voice as it didn’t match his look at all. Bomin was on the quieter side, he opened up to the others, but to you he remained quiet. Very respectful and only speaking when spoken too. Mina loved the boy and managed to pull a more playful side out of him. This prompted Jangjun’s leader, Daeyeol, and Jangjun himself to have Bomin be in charge of the little girl.
“Hungry, Bomin?” You asked softly, making the boy lift his head from the very secretive conversation he was having with your daughter.
With a shake of his head, he spoke. “No thank you, noona. I appreciate the offer, though.”
You watched him bring his attention back to the little girl on his lap. One arm was wrapped protectively around her little body, holding her close to him as she continued to color and point out the different colors. Despite the boy politely turning down your offer, you still made him something to eat, along with the others. Once finished with all the meals, you moved towards the table. Neither your daughter nor Bomin stirred at the movement as you sat down, getting a closer look.
“Look at my picture mommy! Bomin-ie helped me.” Mina exclaimed, holding up the picture decorated in various colors like purple, black, brown, pink, and orange.
You smiled as you gently took it from her. “This is beautiful Mina! Truly a work of art. It’s good to know that you at least got something from me.”
Bomin chuckled at your underlying dig towards your husband as you stood to hang it on the fridge with her other colorful pictures. Just as you finished, you heard a door slam from upstairs as your husband came down the stairs, looking rather frustrated. Taking one last quick peak at Bomin and Mina, you walked towards him.
“Hey, is everything okay?” You asked, laying a hand on his cheek.
Jangjun physically relaxed as he leaned into your touch. “Daeyeol wants me to leave town for two days with him and Tag.”
“Leave? You haven’t left town since Mina was born.” You said, your hand dropping back to your side.
“I know. I told Daeyeol that I’m not comfortable leaving you two alone, but he insisted that there isn’t any other way for this job to work unless I leave with him.” Jangjun softly spoke, looking over your shoulder to eye Bomin and Mina.
“Jangjun, we weren’t finished talking.” You heard Daeyeol’s soft, yet stern voice resonate through the house as he made his way down the stairs.
With him came seven other guys as they watched the encounter. Jangjun’s frustration bubbled over again as he grunted, heading for the kitchen.
“Jangjun, you have to come with us.” Tag spoke softly.
Your husband shook his head. “I’m not leaving them.”
His hand raised as he gestured towards you and Mina.
“And I’m not giving you a choice. You’re our best gunman, you’re needed for this job. Besides the guys will be here to watch over the house and the girls.” Daeyeol told him, hoping to ease his nerves more.
This time, Jangjun’s emotions got the better of him as he slammed his fist down on the marble countertop. The loud noise caused you to jump and Mina to quiet as her head snapped towards the kitchen. Bomin quietly watched as well. You looked at Donghyun as he nodded at you.
“Bomin, take Mina upstairs.” Donghyun said as the boy stood up.
Mina wrapped her arms around the boy’s neck, hugging tightly to him as he headed for the staircase.
“Go with them.” You whispered to Donghyun as he obeyed almost immediately.
You waited for the three to disappear before speaking. “Jangjun, if you’re really needed for this then you have to go.”
His head shot towards you. “No I don’t. I’m not leaving you and Mina here alone.”
“We won’t be alone, and you know that.” You told him softly.
He let out a sigh of frustration as you and Daeyeol proceeded to try and ease him into the job. After a few minutes of consolation, Jangjun finally gave up his fight and headed upstairs to pack.
Daeyeol watched him before looking at you. “You know I wouldn’t pull him away from you if I didn’t have to.”
“I know. That’s why I helped you convince him. He’ll probably still complain, but it won’t be as bad.” You said making Daeyeol chuckle.
Jangjun came back downstairs, this time with your daughter in his arms as he walked over to you. Tag and Daeyeol took his bags.
“We’ll be in the car.” Tag said as he headed out the door.
Mina watched the two guys before noticing the bags in their hands.
“Are you leaving daddy?” She asked softly.
Jangjun set her down as he kneeled in front of her. “Yeah, I am baby. I won’t be gone long though, okay.”
She didn’t bother giving him an answer, rather she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, giving him a hug. They pulled apart as she gave him a kiss on the nose, making your husband smile.
“I love you, daddy.” Mina said as Bomin picked her up.
Jangjun poked her little nose as he whispered back to her. “I love you more, mini me.”
Bomin took Mina back upstairs as Jangjun turned to you. “And you, how am I going to be able to leave my adoring wife?”
Rolling your eyes, you laid your hands on his chest. “I’m sure you’ll manage.”
Jangjun kissed you as you whispered so only he would hear you. “Be careful and please come back to us.”
He nodded his head, pecking your lips once more before speaking. “I promise. I love you.”
You uttered those words back to him as he headed for the door. He gave you one last smile before speaking to Y who stood by the door.
“Take good care of them.” He more than ordered as the older male nodded.
Y closed the door, locking it behind him as you let out a sigh and prepared for the next two days.
Though it felt like years, hours had passed since Jangjun had left and you were feeling the full effects. Jangjun hadn’t left town in three years, vowing to never leave you or Mina by yourselves. You knew, however, that if duty called, Daeyeol would look to him first.
You started to prepare dinner, knowing that eventually you’d get complaints about seven men plus a three year old toddler being hungry. As you cooked, you heard someone enter the kitchen.
“Kimchi fried rice,” You heard Y say. “Why am I not surprised?”
You looked over your shoulder. “As if Mina will eat anything else.”
He smiled. “Like father, like daughter.”
You nodded to yourself as you heard the metal legs of the barstools scrape across the tile floor.
“I’ve gotta give you credit.” Y started. “Jangjun is much more grounded with you around.”
You grinned. “Is that a good thing?”
He nodded without hesitation. “Absolutely. Some people think that mafia members can’t handle family and work, but Jangjun is a prime example that both can work together.”
You thought about what Y had said as he continued to talk. Jangjun always made sure to make time for you and your daughter. He was an exceptional father. He never missed a birthday or anniversary. Any special occasion, Jangjun was there. Jangjun literally did everything to keep you and Mina safe.
“He’s definitely a hard worker. He’s also the best father. Mina adores her dad.” You quietly replied.
Y smiled to himself as you spoke again. “Do you ever want to have kids someday?”
He looked at you for a moment before bringing his gaze down to the marble countertop, tracing his fingers over the pattern. “I want to. It’s hard though. Finding someone that accepts my lifestyle.”
“That’s what you’re doing wrong. You don’t find someone that accepts your lifestyle. You find someone that accepts you.” You told him.
“Is that what you did with Jangjun?” Y asked.
Just hearing his name made you smile. “You could say that.”
“Hyung,” Someone said from behind Y as you both turned to the voice.
“Seungmin, what is it?” Y asked him.
“It’s Mina.” He said barely above a whisper as you dropped the spoon you were holding.
Racing up the stairs, you pushed past the two boys with your daughter as you dropped to your knees in front of her. She held a tight grip to the doll she was playing with as you checked her.
“You’re okay? You’re not hurt?” You asked quickly.
“Of course I am, Mommy.” Mina said with a giggle.
“But Seungmin said,” You started turning towards the boy as he interrupted you.
“She’s fine. It’s-it’s what she said.” Seungmin counter softly.
Y looked at the boy. “What do you mean? What’d she say?”
“I mentioned reading her a story so she could go to sleep. She kept saying she was tired, but she said that when her daddy reads her a story, her friend is with her too. Her friend in the backyard.” Bomin spoke up.
You turned to your daughter as she smiled. “In the backyard? Baby, our backyard is gated, there’s no one in the backyard.”
Mina’s little head nodded quickly. “Yes there is mommy. A man. He’s the same size as Bomin-ie. He comes every time daddy reads me a story. He visited me last night.”
Your eyes doubled in size as you looked towards Donghyun and Bomin. “What is she talking about? Is she talking about Daeyeol?”
Donghyun shrugged. “She said the man always wore a mask and a black hat.”
“He says he knows daddy, and that he knows me too. He even knows my name. He knows you too.” Mina said excitedly.
You pulled Mina into your arms as Y and Donghyun made their way towards her window. The large window made for a view of the entire backyard. Picking Mina up from the floor, you held her tightly in her arms as the two men kept looking out the window. They talked amongst themselves as you felt your daughter shift in your arms.
“Mommy, am I in trouble?” Mina asked quietly, almost too afraid to speak.
“You’re not in trouble, Mina.” Bomin spoke up before you could as Mina’s dark brown eyes trailed from your face to his.
“You promise?” She asked again.
Bomin nodded with a small smile. “I promise.”
“Mina should sleep with you tonight. We’ll put Joochan and Y outside your bedroom door. The rest of us will keep watch at every corner of the house that we can. If this guy comes back, we’ll be waiting.” Donghyun told you as you nodded.
Heading for your bedroom, you grabbed Mina’s favorite teddy bear and a pair of pajamas. You kept a close eye on her as you fed and then bathed her. As she fell asleep, there was a knock on the door. You opened it as Donghyun gave you a small smile.
“Is Mina asleep?” He asked softly.
You nodded. “She fell asleep about ten minutes ago.”
As if sensing the uncertainty in your tone, Donghyun spoke. “Hey, don’t worry. We aren’t going to let anything happen to Mina, or you. Jangjun would have our heads if we did.”
You laughed slightly as you nodded, agreeing with him.
“Just get some sleep.” He reassured as you thanked him.
As you closed the door, you took precautions and locked it behind you as you sighed, crawling into bed. You laid a kiss to your little girl’s head before laying your head on your pillow and drifting off to sleep.
You awoke to a sound just outside your door as you rubbed the sleep from your eyes. Looking at the digital clock on the nightstand, you let out a sigh, getting up to go to the bathroom. When you opened the door, Y and Joochan had moved to the bottom of the stairs surveying the perimeter of the house. You took the opportunity to use the bathroom, bumping into Bomin on the way. He gave you a soft smile as you spoke.
“Will you watch over Mina really quick? I still don’t want to leave her alone.” You asked softly.
Bomin nodded as he headed for your bedroom. You quietly slipped into the bathroom as you looked over your reflection in the mirror. Running a hand through your hair, you turned on the faucet, running your hand under the cold water. Splashing some water on your face, you turned the water off and wiped off your face. You let out a sigh before opening the door. As you headed back for your bedroom, you quietly opened the door and jumped at the tall figure in the corner.
“Oh, Bomin you scared me.” You whispered out as the figure just stood.
“Bomin,” You whisper out again as the figure spoke.
“Not Bomin, my dear. Your friend is right there, by the door.” The voice spoke, prompting you to look at the ground.
Sure enough, Bomin’s body lay limp against the wall as you dropped next to him.
“Bomin, Bomin, hey can you hear me?” You leaned your head next to his chest, checking for a heart beat.
“Your friend is fine. I didn’t kill him. Not yet at least.” The man spoke.
You shook your head. “Don’t hurt him. He’s just a child.”
The man nodded. “I won’t hurt him, so long as you give me what I want.”
You looked at the open bedroom door before hearing the man tsk.
“Nuh uh. Close the door quietly. Don’t let anyone know I’m here.” He started.
You reached up for the doorknob, closing the door slowly as the figure made its way towards your bed, carefully sitting on the edge. You breath hitched in your throat as the body leaned over your daughter.
“Boss was right. She looks just like her father.” The man said.
“You’re the man my daughter’s been seeing. You’ve been watching her.” You told him with a fearful tone.
“Well of course. The boss wanted to make sure you didn’t leave town with Jangjun.” He told you.
You shivered at the way your husband’s name sounded on his tongue. “What do you want from me?”
Even in the darkness, you could make out the grim smile that was now perched on his face. “You, my dear are going to take your daughter and come with me. You two are very valuable, and it will help us get what we want from your husband.  We’ll take your friend, too. Just for extra insurance.”
You felt a tear roll down your face as you watched another man crawl through your window. “We set up a diversion in the backyard. We’re all clear.”
Busting open the door, you scream. “Help! They’re in here!”
A pair of arms wrapped around your core as they pulled you back into the room, sticking a cloth over your mouth and nose. You struggled before falling limp, as everything went black.
When you came to, you were in a room blocked entirely in cement. The floor was cold underneath your body as you let your eyes adjust to the one single hanging light. It was bright enough to illuminate almost all of the room as you sat up. A pounding feeling took over your head as you groaned.
You looked around before spotting a chair in front of you with a boy tied up. You squinted to get a better look and gasped as you scrambled to your feet.
“Bomin! Bomin, hey, I’m right here. Look at me.” You lifted his hanging head, taking in the swollen eyes and busted lip.
The rope surrounding his hands and ankles were chafing the skin, rubbing it completely raw as the rope was starting to turn an orangish-red color. Bomin’s unconscious body stayed pinned to the chair as you continued to check him before stopping as you heard a lock rattle. A large door opened behind you as you kept your hands on Bomin’s legs, not bothering to turn around.
“I see you’ve noticed the work we did on your friend. He put up a good fight, but not good enough. Perhaps this life isn’t cut out for him.” A man said as you turned around.
The man looked familiar. Almost as if you had seen him before, but you couldn’t remember. His onyx colored eyes made you shiver as he spoke again.
“I’m surprised you don’t recognize me. I’ve only known you your entire life. I’m a former acquaintance of your father’s.” He told you.
You shook your head. “I haven’t spoken to my father in years. I don’t even know if he’s still alive.”
The man chuckled. “He is. Oh he is. And he owes me something. You see, your father and I made a deal 20 or so years ago. A deal that required me getting a larger amount of money. As you know, your father is a very powerful man. The most notorious mafia leader. He’s worth a lot, and he has a lot. In exchange for what I gave him, he gave me two billion dollars. Just a mere quarter of what he has in total.”
You looked back at Bomin, feeling him stir slightly as you spoke. “What did you give him.”
The man leaned forward, his face being hit with the light as your eyes widened. “My son.”
You let out a gasp as it all hit you. Jangjun had never had the best relationship with his father. He never truly wanted to be in this life, so he never forgave his father for just leaving him with some strange family. Though he always said he’d have to thank him some day for it allowed him to meet you. You had a feeling that thank you was never going to come now.
“I haven’t talked to my son in almost two decades.” The man said.
“Jangjun cutting ties with you had nothing to do with me.” You told the taller male.
“Yes, but you were a big influence. You don’t talk to your own father. No wonder he decided not to talk to me. Had he decided to, this whole thing would’ve been taken care of. I wouldn’t have had to kidnap you, Jangjun and I would still have a good relationship.” He started.
You scoffed. “You still never told me why I was kidnapped. And where’s my daughter?”
“Mina is fine. She’s asleep in the main house with my wife. I wouldn’t dare hurt my granddaughter.” He told you.
“No, just your daughter-in-law. Right?” You countered.
He shrugged. “You don’t seem to understand. You are worth a lot of money. In fact you and your daughter are worth the exact amount I’m owed by your father. So if he won’t give me my money, then I’ll use you two to get it myself.”
“Killing us won’t get you your money.” You whispered.
“But selling you will. Shipping girls off to other countries for, we’ll say “work”, pays a lot. And people know who you are and who your father is. I’ve had people lined up to pay me even more than your father offered just to have you two. However, I choose not to be too greedy.” He told you with a smile.
The resemblance between Jangjun and his father was uncanny. Each time the man smiled it reminded you of your husband. The dark eyes and slightly raspy voice were also similar to Jangjun.
Bomin jerked slightly under your touch as you turned back to him. “Bomin, hey. You’re okay.”
“I’ll leave you to think about what I said. I’d get comfortable though. It might be awhile.” The man said as he headed for the door.
He opened it before peeking back in and throwing two rags and chemical cleaner towards you. “You can untie your friend. He shows no danger. You can also clean up the mess his blood made on my floor. I don’t want a stain.”
The door slammed shut behind him as you heard Bomin groan before mumbling out. “I’m sorry.”
“What?” You asked quietly, not quite hearing him.
“I’m sorry. This is my fault.” He repeated louder this time.
You immediately shook your head, grabbing one of the rags to wipe at the blood on his face. “No. Bomin, no. This isn’t your fault. None of this is your fault.”
“They took Mina.” He whisper-cried with a sniffle.
“Mina’s fine. He told me she’s fine.” You whispered back.
He shook his head, drool and sweat mixed with blood fell from his face and mouth. “They’re gonna kill her.”
You froze at his words. “W-what?”
“I said, they’re going to kill her.” Bomin repeated, huffing out a groan at the way the muscles in his stomach contracted.
“How do you know?” You asked softly.
He attempted to lift his head, getting a look at your eyes as you gently held onto his face, keeping his head up. Your eyes pleading for him to continue.
“I came to in the van while they were driving us here. They were talking about you and your inheritance. You, you're worth a lot of money, but Mina isn’t. She’s not because,” You interrupted him.
“Jangjun is her father.” You whispered.
Your eyes had cast down to the suit pants he was wearing that were now battered in dried blood and dirt stains. You felt him nod in your hands.
“Mina is worth nothing to them. When your father dies, you get his estate, all his money. He left everything to you. Mina nor your mother are mentioned. Once they had sold you overseas, they were going to kill her.” Bomin breathed out.
Your hands started to shake as you lifted your head to meet his tired eyes. He coughed before speaking.
“You have to find a way to get out of here and get Mina.” He told you, making you shake your head.
“I’m not going to leave you. If we survive this, Mina would kill me.” You joked, making the boy crack a small smile. “We’re gonna get out here.”
Jangjun’s head hung low as he sat at the dark wood dinner table that sat in the middle of your dining room. In front of him was a picture taken on your wedding day. The look in your eyes that you were giving him made him feel at home and so so loved. He knew of course from the moment you agreed to go on a date with him that he was completed smitten over you. Jangjun didn’t want anybody else. He vowed to do anything to keep you safe. He did the same when Mina was born. Now, here he sat. Alone in his big house, after finding out the terrible news.
“How did this happen?” Jangjun asked calmly, scaring the others to no end.
Joochan gulped as he watched Jangjun’s fingers trace the cool black exterior of the picture frame holding your wedding picture. The guys noticed the way he ran his finger over your stomach in the picture. You were pregnant during the time you got married.
“I told you to watch over them.” Jangjun said.
All the guys nodded, but only one knew it was meant for him.
“I was. I-I did. We just,” Y started.
“You just what?” Jangjun countered, looking at him.
His face was stone cold. Eyes darker than usual. It made Y shiver.
“I, there was a small scrap in the backyard. They must have created a diversion. We headed to help Jibeom and Seungmin. It was all a set up though. When we checked upstairs, they had already left with Bomin and the girls.” Y said softly.
Jangjun stood up, making Y take a step back before Daeyeol came through the door.
“There’s someone at the gate.” Daeyeol said, walking through the front door. “They really want to speak with you. They said it’s urgent.”
“Who is it?” Jangjun asked, not taking his eyes of Y.
“Your father-in-law.” Daeyeol spoke, making Jangjun turn to him.
Jangjun nodded as Daeyeol opened the front door allowing Tag to enter with a man Jangjun had seen briefly in his lifetime, but still recognized.
“Mr. Choi, funny seeing you here.” Jangjun said.
Your father held a few inches on Jangjun as he looked around the large house taking in the other men with him. His eyes landed on your husband as his booming voice spoke.
“Lee Jangjun, nice to see you. I see you're doing well for yourself.” Mr. Choi said.
Jangjun scoffed. “I know you’re not here for small talk. What do you want?”
“More like what I have. I know my daughter and granddaughter were kidnapped under your guards supervision. I also know that you are unsure of who took them and where they are. Well I know.” He finished, catching Jangjun’s attention.
“You do? Where are they?” Jangjun asked, dark eyes wide with anticipation.
“Son, I’d sit down for this. Because it’s a lot.” Mr. Choi told him.
Jangjun listened, sitting in the chair he was previously preoccupying. His hand landed on the wedding photo, holding it down protectively.
“Where are they?” Jangjun asked again.
Your father shook his head. “When you were brought to me to be trained when you were younger, your relationship was already strained. You didn’t want this life, and you were forced into it. That being said, you grew into it. Your hatred led you to become the man you are today.”
Jangjun shook his head. “Your daughter did. Can we just get to the point please.”
“They were kidnapped by your father.” Mr. Choi said.
“W-what? No! There’s no way my father is even still alive. He had too many enemies!” Jangjun reasoned.
“No. It was your father. He is still alive. You see, you ended up in my care, being trained by Dongwoo and I because your father wanted you to become a mafia leader of your own. In exchange for giving you to me, I was going to give your father a lot of money. I saw a lot of potential in you, and promised your father you would be a huge success,” Your father stopped to look around the house again. “I was clearly right. However, a dangerous enemy had made his way into Seoul, and I had to leave the country. I never got the chance to pay your father his money. Now he’s taking the girls.”
Jangjun looked at him confused. “What will that solve?”
“Because they’re worth something.” Jibeom spoke up.
Mr. Choi nodded. “Technically, my daughter is. Mina isn’t. At least not yet. My will leaves everything to my daughter. That’s the money I owe your father plus more. I’ve had overseas enemies that have been dying to get their hands on her. With her in your father’s custody, they are probably swarming the phones in negotiations.”
“What about Mina?” Jangjun asked.
You father let out a sigh. “If she’s no value to them, then your father will kill her.”
Jangjun felt his heart stop at the mere thought of someone hurting his daughter or you. He wouldn’t be able to live without the two of you.
“Okay. So we go get them.” Jangjun quickly said as the members nodded, getting ready to prepare themselves.
Mr. Choi spoke up. “Hold on. You don’t need to be going to get her.”
Jangjun looked at him with fire in his eyes. “And why the hell not?”
“Because you’re the reason she got kidnapped.” Your father said.
Jangjun was fuming at his words as he yelled, venom dripping from every word. “No. You’re the reason they got kidnapped. Not me. I didn’t make a deal with my father, you did. I didn’t promise him money then fall back on my word, you did. You’re to blame for all of this. So if you think I’m going to entrust my wife and daughter into your hands, you are surely fucking mistaken.”
No one had ever talked to your father in the manner Jangjun just did. He was too feared, too respected for people to disrespect him. He wasn’t used to someone not falling to their knees begging for his mercy. Jangjun gave him one last look before him and Daeyeol started throwing out orders. All the guys prepared, Jangjun yelling out things to grab and ordered people around on a plan before everyone stopped and looked at Mr. Choi.
“Where are they?” Jangjun asked again.
Your father cowered slightly at Jangjun’s tone before speaking. “At least let me go with you. So I know that they are okay.”
Jangjun looked at Daeyeol who sent a shrug his way as he sighed. “Fine. But stay out of the way.”
The man nodded as they all headed for the door. They got into separate cars, Jangjun opting for the one your father got into as they drove off the property. Jangjun’s head perched against the window watching the buildings fly by as he messed with the cool, black metal on his left ring finger. He brought his ring-clad hand up to his mouth, kissing the metal gently as he whispered to himself.
“I’m coming for you baby.”
You felt around the walls of the room you were in, hoping to find some type of fault in its build as Bomin watched you. The swelling in his eyes had gone down only slightly, but was still very prominent. The feeling was starting to get back to his hands and arms as he would lift them every so often to rub at his legs. He would grunt each time his hands ran across his torso or the cuts and bruises on his face.
“Bomin, just stay still. Moving isn’t going to help.” You chastised.
The younger boy nodded as he spoke. “Did you figure out a way out of here?”
Shaking your head, you spoke. “The door opens from the outside. It’s like it molds into the walls because I can’t even find a pattern where the door would be.”
Bomin lifted his head, looking around the room before his eyes landed on the light fixture hanging from the ceiling. “The light.”
You turned to look at him. “What about it?”
“How much of the room is it lighting up? Do we have another light source?” Bomin asked.
There were no windows, and with no signs of a door, you wouldn’t be able to know if there was an exit. “As far as I know it is.”
“You need to pull it from the ceiling.” Bomin said.
Tilting your head, you gave him a confused look. “I don’t understand.”
“The light fixture. The surrounding area around the part hooked to the ceiling, that could be your way out.” Bomin breathed out.
You walked towards the light, looking up at it before reaching up for it. The low hanging light was just out of your reach.
“I can’t reach it.” You said before jumping.
Your hand wrapped around the cord, pulling at the light fixture slightly.
“Harder,” Bomin prompted.
You yanked at the cord, hearing a tear from above you as your feet could finally fully lay flat on the ground. Bomin’s head lifted to look at the fixture before nodding to himself.
“Again.” He instructed.
You pulled on the cord a third time, this time harder than the rest as it dropped almost three feet down, pulling the wiring from the ceiling with it. Pieces of cracked cement lay by your shoes as you looked at the boy.
“Unscrew the bulb.” Bomin said. “Then break off the leg of that chair. Make sure to break it at an angle, you want a sharp end.”
Nodding, you unscrewed the fluorescent bulb, cursing silently at the temp of it as you carefully set it down in Bomin’s lap before reaching for the old chair. You looked back at Bomin as he mustered up enough energy to move his legs.
“You gotta break the chair.” He repeated.
“Bomin, I can’t,” He stopped you.
“Throw the damn chair at the wall. Hard! Then grab the sharpest piece from the rubble and hand it to me.” Bomin spoke again.
You nodded as you got a good grip on the chair. Lifting it up, you took some steps back before getting a running start. You threw the chair with everything you had at the wall. It landed with a crash, falling to the floor in pieces as you scrambled to find one. A piece from the top of the chair stuck out as it had snapped in half, providing a point at the tip. You quickly grabbed it, handing it to Bomin as you heard something unlatch.
Bomin tossed you the lightbulb as he whispered. “It’s going to hurt, but at the first chance run up to the guy and bust it in his face.”
You nodded preparing yourself as the door was pushed open. You went to read your arm back before recognizing the person who opened the door.
“Daeyeol,” You called out, making Bomin’s head snap towards the opened door.
Daeyeol’s face began to soften in relief before he noticed Bomin. “You guys are okay. Thank god you guys are okay. Jangjun, I found them!”
Daeyeol quickly checked over you before you pushed him away. “Check Bomin. Check him first, I’m fine I promise.”
Daeyeol didn’t hesitate to listen, dropping to his knees to check on the youngest member. It was no surprise to you as Daeyeol had always been more protective over Bomin. You headed for the door before stopping, immediately. Your eyes met those of your father’s making you take a step back before hearing a familiar voice.
“Daeyeol, where are you,” Jangjun stopped, making you let out a sigh of relief.
Feeling your feet take off before you could process it, you ran right into his arms. Your weight hit Jangjun like a truck making him grunt, but he didn’t lose his footing as he lifted you off the ground. Pulling you closer into him, he let his head fall into the crook of your neck as you wrapped your fingers into his dark locks, tugging at them slightly.
“Oh thank god! I thought I was going to lose you. I’m so glad to have you back in my arms.” Jangjun brought your feet back to the ground as he pulled you in for a deep kiss.
You kissed back before pulling away. “They still have Mina.”
“They got through all the guards in the house. Your father barricaded himself in a room with Mina. He’s not coming out.” Tag said as he jogged over to the two of you.
You looked past him at your father’s lingering stance before speaking.
“Daeyeol is probably going to need help with Bomin. He needs medical attention.” You told Y.
He nodded, heading back inside the bunker-type building as Jangjun grabbed your hand.
“Come on.” He started to pull you away from the building as he stopped in front of your father.
Your grip on Jangjun’s hand tightened as you looked at the man.
“I’m so glad you’re safe.” He told you.
You didn’t look at him as you spoke. “I want to find my baby.”
Your father nodded as he turned towards the main house. He led you and Jangjun into the house as you were met with Seungmin.
“He locked himself in the master bedroom on the second floor. Mina’s in there with him. We aren’t firing any shots.” Seungmin said.
Seungmin led the way upstairs before stopping. Joochan and Donghyun were waiting by the double doors as your husband spoke.
Jangjun nodded. “We gotta break the door down.”
Joochan and Donghyun nodded as they took a step back. They both lifted a leg before kicking open the double doors to the master bedroom. When they fell open, you were met with your daughter and Jangjun’s father. He held Mina in his arms as everyone stopped.
“Jangjun. My, my, look at you. My only son. Look at the man you’ve grown into.” Jangjun’s father said.
Jangjun spoke lowly. “Give me my daughter. Now.”
You watched his grip on Mina tighten as she reached out towards you and Jangjun.
“Daddy.” She whined slightly, wriggling in his father’s grip.
Your father stepped past the both of you, making you look at him.
“Please, let her go. I’m the one that owes you something. Not them. This little girl, my daughter. They are innocent in this.” Your father pleaded.
Jangjun’s father chuckled. “You think I want anything to do with this child. She’s worthless. Take her.”
He set Mina down as she took off through the broken doors, immediately running to Jangjun. He picked her up, holding her close as she wrapped her little arms around his neck.
He kissed her forehead before handing her off to Donghyun. “Both of you, go to the car. Stay with her.”
They nodded as Jangjun waited until the two guys got downstairs before turning to your father.
He nodded as he spoke. “I’m here to give you the money I owe you, Lee.”
Jangjun’s father shook his head. “I don’t want your damn money. I want her.”
A slim, boney finger raised up to point at you as Jangjun’s wrapped a protective arm around your waist.
“She is worth more than anything. I gave you your child back, so you give me her.” Jangjun’s father continued.
Your father spoke up. “That wasn’t our deal.”
“You broke our agreement years ago. Time for new negotiations. Don’t you think?” Jangjun’s father said before Jangjun looked at you.
He gave you a tender smile before whispering. “Don’t look.”
You nodded, wrapping an arm around his torso and hiding your face in the crook of his neck. You felt him move slightly before hearing the click of a gun. Shutting your eyes, you jumped as two shots were fired off. Lifting your head, Jangjun looked at you as he pecked your forehead. You heard groaning behind you as you turned. Jangjun’s father lay on the floor clutching his leg as he let out another painful groan.
“Let this be a lesson to you.” Your father told him.
Jangjun kept his hand around your waist as he led you to the staircase before stopping. He turned back around, heading towards his father with his gun in hand before stopping in front of him, pointing the barrel right at his head.
“Don’t you ever come near me, my wife, or daughter ever again, or next time, I’ll put a bullet through your fucking head.” Jangjun told him, earning a look of fear from his father as he tucked the gun back into the waistband of his pants.
He walked back over to you, as you headed down the stairs and outside of the house. Jangjun kept his grip on you as you, him, and your father got into a car.
“Daeyeol took Bomin to the hospital. I told him we’d meet him there.” Jangjun spoke softly, as to not spook you.
“Where’s Mina?” You asked.
He turned to point at the car through the back windshield as he countered. “She’s with Joochan and Donghyun. They’re going to follow us.”
You nodded, leaning into Jangjun as he pecked the top of your forehead. Your father sat up front as Y drove, watching the two of you through the rear view mirror. He sighed to himself as he collected his thoughts throughout the drive.
As the car pulled into the drive of the hospital, you and Jangjun were the first two to jump out and head into the hospital. Daeyeol spotted the two of you as he walked up to you. The rest of the crew had joined inside the emergency room as he spoke.
“They took him back and admitted him.” Daeyeol said softly.
Jangjun nodded. “How bad is he?”
Daeyeol sighed. “Three broken ribs, a fractured orbital bone, a cracked nose, lacerations around his wrists and ankles. Surprisingly, he had no internal bleeding or head trauma. They said he’ll be fine.”
Donghyun was the last to enter the hospital, Mina perched on his hip as he walked up to you. You smiled, thanking him quietly as you took her from his arms. You held her close, laying a hand on the side of her head as you kissed her temple. Jangjun pulled you into him, gently pulling Mina down to kiss her forehead as he whispered to you.
“I’m so glad you both are okay. I would’ve been lost without you.” Jangjun said quietly.
You smiled, pecking his lips lightly before hearing a door open. A nice looking lady came out, wrapped in a long white coat as she spoke.
“Are you Choi Bomin’s party?” She asked, making all of you nod. “Great. Well as I told Mr. Lee before, Bomin is going to be just fine. He just needs a lot of rest and time for healing. He’s very lucky. Though his injuries were serious, they weren’t severe.”
“Can we see him?” You asked softly.
The doctor smiled. “Of course. Try not to overwhelm him though, okay?”
You all nodded as Daeyeol looked at everyone. “Jangjun, you can go first if you’d like?”
Jangjun inhaled slightly before nodding as he looked at you and Mina. “Do you want to come with me?”
You nodded as the three of you headed for the room. Jangjun opened the door gently before ushering the both of you in behind him. He closed it behind him as you walked over to the side of Bomin’s bed. Mina’s head lifted slightly, taking in who was laying on the small bed as she spoke.
“Bomin-ie.” She called out faintly.
It was loud enough for the boy to hear as he opened his eyes slightly turning to look at you. Bomin smiled as his brown eyes looked at Mina. She kicked slightly in your hold, letting you know she wanted to be put down. You sat her on the side of Bomin’s hospital bed as you whispered.
“This is where you have to sit right now, okay?” You asked her.
Her little head nodded as she spoke. “Are you sick Bomin-ie?”
The three of you laughed slightly as Bomin nodded gingerly. “I’m okay, mini me. Just a little down and out. I’ll be here for a little while.”
Mina pouted slightly. “But what about our tea party?”
Jangjun gasped slightly. “Oh no, not the tea party.”
You rolled your eyes at your husband as Bomin smiled. “Have Donghyun fill in for me, okay? I’ll be back soon though. I promise.”
He lifted his hand to hold out his pinky as Mina linked her tiny finger around his.
“I’m glad you’re okay, Bomin.” Jangjun said, looking at the younger boy.
Bomin smiled as Jangjun spoke again. “Thank you for keeping them safe. You risked your life for them.”
“When you put me in charge of Mina after her first birthday, I promised you I’d take a bullet for this little girl. I’d never go back on my word. You know that.” Bomin told him.
Jangjun nodded with a smile. “Thank you.”
Bomin grinned before speaking. “Just make sure I’m not in here for months. I hate hospitals.”
The three of you laughed before someone spoke. “You’ll be out of here in no time. I made sure that you got the absolute best care and best doctors and nurses working on you.”
Bomin’s eyes took in the man at the foot of his bed as he spoke in a confused tone. “Thank you.”
“Bomin, this is my father.” You said without looking at the man.
Bomin nodded as he relaxed slightly.
“Thank you for doing your absolute best to protect my daughter and granddaughter.” He told Bomin.
Your father turned to Jangjun as you rounded the bed. to stand next to him. Jangjun wrapped his arm around your waist, squeezing slightly in a sign of affection.
“Jangjun, I underestimated you. I never gave you a chance when my ex-wife told me that you and my daughter were getting married. Then she told me about Mina, and I knew I needed to get past my own reservations. You make my daughter very happy. You've both created a beautiful little girl who I must say looks, just like her father. Family is a person's greatest blessing. I know you have your own little family, but if it’s not too much to ask, I’d like to be a part of it.” Your father said, making you and Jangjun look at each other.
Jangjun gave you a look that meant he was letting you decide as you smiled at him. You turned to your father as you spoke.
“It’s going to take some time, for us to move past everything and this, of course. But, I know Mina would enjoy getting to know her grandfather.” You told your father, watching a smile grow on his face.
He thanked you as Jangjun exhaled. “Well, I think it’s time to go home. What do you think?”
You giggled slightly, sparking a small smile from your husband as you nodded. “Just as long as you’ll be there.”
“Oh, absolutely. I’m never letting you out of my sight again. That was the worst day of my life. Now, time for us to go home and for me to never let go of you and Mina. Like, ever.” Jangjun told you, making you laugh.
He picked up Mina, who instantly cuddled into him as he pecked your forehead.
“My greatest blessings, that’s what you two are.” Jangjun whispered as he led the two of you back to your home, where he cuddled and held you close the entire night.

Baby Now and Forever
Tumblr media
Summary: R gets turned into a baby. Alex gets black mail opportunities,  and Lena can’t get away.
A/n: Baby Danvers is now a baby
Warning: Cuteness overload, I think
Lena Luthor x Reader, Kara Danvers x Reader, Alex Danvers x Reader
Word Count: 2261
Kara didn’t see it coming. It’s in the Danvers Sister’s blood to protect. No one had any idea what the weapon was going to do.
“(Y/n)!” Kara ran to the pile of clothes.
Alex punched the guy, for a brief moment she looked towards her two sisters. She was in shock seeing just a pile of clothes before she grabbed his collar.
“What did you do!” Alex kept punching.
He only laughed even when Alex punched. Kara moved your clothes out of the way, her mouth hung open as her hands trembled.
A piercing scream, Alex knew all too well, made the other laugh harder as Alex stood frozen. Having the perfect window for opportunity, the man dressed in all black ran towards his ‘baby gun’, or that’s what Nia had gone to call it later on.
“She shouldn’t have ran, it would’ve done nothing on Supergirl.” He wiped an imaginary tear. “Now she’ll have to live with it!” He held the gun above his head.
“No!” Alex couldn’t get there fast enough as Kara had you in her arms. The gun crashed to pieces before he was stunned and fell onto his back.
The Danvers trio entered through the D.E.O balcony. Alex on one side of Kara’s arms while you were on the other, wrapped in her cape.
“Agent Dox, do we have anything on this gun?” Alex huffed, she had countless nights in which you had kept her up. She was not about to do it again.
“I would have to look through the pieces to find a solution.” Brainy grabbed the bin with broken pieces.
“There’s a solution to this right?” Alex yelled towards Brainy in a panic.
“Fear not! This is not permanent!”
“We better call mom, she always knew what to do.” Alex looked at you.
“I think it’ll be okay. She’s so cute Alex,” Kara cooed.
“Yeah wait until she starts crying,” Alex rolled her eyes.
“If you don’t need me anymore, I’m gonna head home. D.E.O is not a place for a baby. You’re still coming tonight for game night right?”
Kara flew off before she could get an answer.
“Kara has no idea what she’s up against.” Alex mumbled.
~~~~~
“I don’t know what you want!” Kara cried with a pillow over her head.
The moment she got home you had started crying. She did not remember taking care of Kal-El to be this hard. You were on the couch, pillows surrounding you with your snot covered, tear covered form.
The door opened on its own, and Kara has never been happier to see Eliza.
“Eliza, please make her stop crying!” Kara cried.
Eliza carried you which caused you to cry harder. “Truthfully Kara, Jeremiah was always the one to calm her down.”
Kara began to cry harder.
“Kara?” A soft voice asked from the door. The brunette stuck her head in.
“Lena!”
“Oh good. I heard a baby crying and for a second I thought I was on the wrong floor.” Lena smiled.
Your cries softened as Lena entered Kara’s apartment. Lena had to take a step back, who had a child and didn’t tell her? And why was this baby reaching out towards her?
“Kara, please tell me this baby is not any one of Superfriends. Cause I was definitely not gone for that long on my business trip.”
Kara frowned and bit her lower lip. “Well I can say it isn’t any one of Superfriend’s, but it is a Superfriend.”
Lena’s eyes widened and turned towards the figure in Eliza’s arms. She looked around the apartment and realized you were nowhere to be seen.
“(Y/n)?”
“She got turned into a baby during our mission. Brainy is working on a way to fix this now.” Kara plopped onto the couch.
You whined, almost falling out of your mother’s arms. Eliza knew that look all too well. That was the actions you would make to be held by Alex or Jeremiah. Lena paled when Eliza held you out towards her.
“She wants to be held by you.”
“I-I never held a baby before.”
“You can hold her while sitting on the couch, if you’re afraid of dropping her.”
Lena was led to the couch by Eliza’s free hand and before she knew it she was holding you in her arms. You immediately calmed down as Kara cheered.
Lena was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that a tiny human, you, was in her arms holding on to her pointer finger. She was stuck in a trance staring into your eyes.
Nia and Alex had run into each other at  the base of Kara’s apartment building. Nia was beaming with excitement as Kara had mentioned a surprise.
“What is the surprise!” Nia screamed as she pushed open the door.
Lena panicked which caused you the cry. You reached and grabbed for Lena obviously there was nothing wrong about that. But your reaching and grabbing was at Lena’s breasts.
Lena’s face flushed red while Alex laughed and pulled out her phone. Lena really didn’t want her photo taken, as people would see her incapable of childcare. She had immediately moved you into Eliza’s arms.
That wasn’t such a great idea on her part when you started bawling.
“Oh no! Mom I’m getting PTSD.” Alex covered her ears.
“Alexandra you’re being dramatic, you were six when (Y/n) was born.” Eliza bounced you open and down.
“She cried for an average of three hours every night!”
“You’re not planning to make me do all the work right? Cause when you said you wanted kids, the baby crying part is part of the whole package. We might not even get a baby, we might get a little boy or girl who has terrible tantrums.” Kelly smirked from Kara’s open door.
“Can someone please calm (Y/n) down before we talk about other babies? Superhearing here.” Kara groaned
“Well she did the best with Lena.”
“No,no as much as I love (Y/n) I can’t.” Lena shook and waved her hands.
“Okay you’re gonna have to because if not she,” Alex pointed to you. “will cry forever.”
“Who got her to stop crying when she was a baby?” Lena asked
“Jeremiah...”
“W-who is (Y/n)’s most favorite person now?” Lena asked, desperately hoping that it would not be her.
“Kara/Alex.” Nia and Kelly said at the same time.
“I am obviously not her favorite, she pulled my hair and blew out my ear drums.”
“That leaves me! I’m gonna use this as a blackmail opportunity,” Alex chuckled evilly. “Okay (Y/n), come to big sissy.”
“Sissy?” Nia smiled before Alex turned towards her with a glare.
“Not a word or I’m going to make sure Dreamer doesn’t ever wake up.”
“Alex,” Both Kelly and Eliza scolded.
You snuggled into Alex’s neck with small whimpers and whines. When it came down to it, the bond between a big sister and a little sister was one of the most loving things. You were doing okay until Lena walked towards the kitchen for a glass of wine.
You kicked and flailed, hitting Alex in her chin. She bounced and shushed you, but you were still restless. Whining and crying while looking at Lena in the kitchen over Alex’s shoulder.
Something clicked in Eliza’s mind, she carried you out of Alex’s arms.
“I think I know who is (Y/n)’s favorite person.”
“Who?” Alex asked, a bit offended.
“The lovely Lena of course.”
Lena’s head snapped up while she poured her wine to look at Eliza with wide eyes. She tried to blink the truth away before she shook her head.
“I-I can’t be her favorite person. I’m a Luthor. I’m a spawn of a devil. (Y/n)’s going to get hurt by me.”
The room looked around at each other. Kelly approached the Luthor.
“Lena hun, I don’t think that you know that we don’t see you like that. You’re a brilliant and beautiful person who has been through trauma. I understand why you might be scared, this is very new to all of us. It’s hard I’ll give you that, trying and trying to prove to everyone you’re not like the rest of the Luthors. The only person you have to prove yourself to is yourself. And I know it’s different and it’s easier said than done but if there is anyone who would support you it would be (Y/n).” Kelly comforted Lena.
Lena looked at Kelly’s smile before she turned towards you in Eliza’s arms. She took a big sip out of her wine, sighed and reached her arms out to hold you. It was the least she could do, with all the love you have given her.
She held you closely as you cooed. Lena always loved a Danvers hug, and this was no different. You had turned into a baby but there was no difference to how much love she felt.
This has all overwhelmed her as she began to ugly cry. You moved your hands up to Lena’s eyes and patted her tears away. There was just something about a baby’s innocence that was so precious. They don’t know anything in the world yet cried when their mother was distressed. To not know anything but know that pain is bad.
To have a family, despite all that you have gone through to be in your corner. Loving and cherishing you for who you are, despite the circumstances. Lena was constantly reminded by you that she was enough, if it wasn’t you it was Kara, Kelly, Nia, Alex, Brainy, J’onn and even Eliza. She also hated the fact that it took a baby to make her figure that out.
“Fear not Superfriends! Brainy has solved the equation!” Brainy held the baby gun in his arms. “Oh it seems little (Y/n) is taking a liking to being little. I will go put this away at the DEO and come back.”
“NO!” Everyone screamed.”
“You didn’t have to scream.” Brainy moved towards Alex and gave her the gun.
“Why are you giving this to me?”
“When the ray is used, (Y/n) will grow back to her adult size. Her clothes would not. Leaving her in her birthday suit. Ooh scones!”
Alex took you from Lena’s arms before motioning Kara to follow her into your room. Alex placed you on your bed and shot you with the baby gun, when you were full grown Kara sped to dress you in black sweats and a black T-shirt.
“How are we at home?” You looked around the room.
“You were turned into a baby.”
“Oh so that’s what the gun did.” You pushed yourself off the bed and onto your feet.
“It’s good to have you back, you were a hassle.” Kara hugged you.
“Oh so the Girl of Steel couldn’t handle me,” you teased. “Game night is still happening right?” You and Kara headed towards your door.
“Not so fast baby Danvers. I have a few questions to ask you.” Alex had her arms crossed.
“I jumped in front of Kara to save her because the world needed her more than me, The last thing I remember was getting hit by the gun and I didn’t steal your poptarts in your office.”
“I was gonna ask you why you wanted to be with Lena in your baby form and why,” she pulled her phone out of pocket showing you a photo of you and Lena looking at each other with nothing but love in your eyes and why you were reaching towards her boobs.
“Oh,” you blushed. “That has a very good explanation, that is because I’m in love with Lena,” you smiled.
Alex and Kara smirked at each other. “Lena!” Kara sped out while Alex wrapped her arms around you. The next thing you knew you were in your room with Lena, the door shut close. You tried to open the door but gave up trying knowing Kara and Alex were probably holding the door.
“Hi,” you smiled at Lena.
“Hi.”
~~~~~
“Babe,” Lena groaned. The baby’s cry echoing in your house.
Lena reached over towards your side of the bed and opened her eyes. Your blankets was pushed towards the middle with your side of the bed empty. Lena heard soft shushing from the baby monitor and headed towards your daughter’s room. You were bouncing her up and down but couldn’t get her to stop crying.
“Mommy has a meeting tomorrow, let’s let her sleep huh.”
Your daughter, Lauren, was still fussing. A soft knock and a chuckle came from behind you. Lauren cooed and immediately calmed down in Lena’s arms.
“She just wanted you,” you pouted.
“Don’t take it the hard way, my two girls just love me. She’s just like you, not wanting to be away from me for too long. But at least she didn’t reach for my boobs.” Lena smirked.
“You are not going to let me live that down are you.”
“Never. Like I always say...”
“Baby now and forever.” You both said together.
“I’m really regretting jumping in front of Kara now.”
“I’m not, I know you’d do the same for me and our little girl.”
“Please I would use you as a shield to protect our little girl.”
“Only if I don’t use you first,” Lena smirked.
You kissed her forehead before leading her to the rocking chair.
“You can go back to sleep.”
“No I’m gonna be with you and our baby now and forever.”

“Mom!” You woke up to the sound of your daughter screaming. “Mommy!” Makayla was kicking at the blankets, her little fists swinging at some invisible monster. Another nightmare. You grabbed her and pulled her into your arms.
“It’s okay, baby. Wake up. I’ve got you.” You rocked her back and forth until her eyes opened, fat tears spilling onto her cheeks. “You’re alright, Kayla.”
“It was the monsters again. The shadow man.”
“He isn’t here, baby.” You ran your fingers through her hair. “He can’t hurt you.” Your door flew open and Dean and Sam rushed in, Mary peaked out behind them.
“What is it? Did it hurt you?” Sam rushed to the bed while Dean checked every corner, both holding their pistols. Mary even had a machete at the ready.
“It’s okay, guys. She just had a bad dream.” You explained, groggily getting out of bed with Kayla still trembling in your arms. “Do you guys have any milk? That usually helps her calm down.” Sam thought for a moment, but Dean responded quickly.
“Chocolate or white?” Sam turned and gave him a strange look. “What? That stuff is the nectar of the gods, Sammy.” Sam shook his head.
“I can’t believe you're older than me.”
“C-can I have chocolate milk, daddy?” Kayla sniffed.
“See, the kid gets it.” Dean scoffed. Mary smacked his arm. Sam was still processing being called dad.
“Come on, I’ll take you to the kitchen.” Sam held out his arms to take her and you hesitated. Then you remembered that you had been doing this for four years and he had missed all of it. You tried to give him a peace making smile, but he ignored you. Makayla buried her face in his shoulder, trying to hide her tears like a tough girl. Sam sat her down and went over to the fridge, finding the chocolate milk hidden behind a case of beers.
“I woke everybody up.” Makayla cried, covering her face with her small hands. Sam poured the milk and hurried back over to her.
“Hey, no, it’s okay.” He soothed, gently pulling her hands away. “Here, have some of this.” He held up the glass of milk to her lips and she drank slowly, her tears eventually stopping. “Better?” She nodded slightly. Sam pulled up a chair beside her, setting the now half empty cup on the table.
“I bet you never get scared.” Makayla looked at him, her big blue-green eyes filled with awe. Her eyes looked like his. Sam smiled.
“I get scared all the time.”
“Really?” She gasped.
“Oh yeah. In fact, I have nightmares too.” Her mouth fell open and Sam continued, his tone sweet and caring. “I used to be really scared of my nightmares, but you know what I did?” She leaned forward excitedly. “I told myself that I can face anything as long as I remember that I’m not alone. So the next time that you get scared by the…”
“The shadow man.” She shivered.
“Okay, the next time you get shared by the shadow man, you just remember that you’ve got me and your mom and your Uncle Dean and Grandma Mary. You’ve even got an angel on your side.” Her eyes widened.
“An angel?” Sam couldn’t help but laugh at her excitement.
“That’s right, sweetie, Uncle Cas is like your guardian uncle.” Cas could barely guard himself most of the time, but she didn’t need to know that. “You can always fight your fears when you remember that you are never alone.” She hugged his arm, her cheek pressed against his shoulder.
“My mom is right.” She beamed. “You are a hero.” And just like that, Sam Winchester’s heart melted and not just for the little girl clinging to him. Yup… he was in trouble.
-
Sam stayed up most of the night getting Makayla back to sleep so he slept in a little longer than the rest of the bunker. Mary got up first and made the coffee, followed by you and then a very disgruntled looking Dean. You were curled up in one of the chairs, looking over your journal. There had to be some way to connect all of your research to find the vampires’ nest.
“It looks like that girl has got Sam wrapped around her finger already.” Mary smirked, looking at you as she sipped her coffee. She wasn’t your biggest fan, of course, but heart breaker or not, you still gave Sam what she had always hoped for him- a family of his own. Dean made a sound, but he was still only half awake.
“So I’ve pinpointed the area of the nest, but not the specific location.” You slid your journal across the table to him. “During slower hunting seasons, they’ve stayed near home in Springfield, Colorado. As far as I know, there’s fifteen, maybe seventeen.”
“Perfect,” Dean grumbled. You were about to add something when your eyes went wide.
“Dean!” You shrieked, pointing to the doorway. He turned around in confusion.
“Oh god,” He jumped out of his chair and rushed to Makayla, who had somehow found his pistol and was now pointing it at his mother. “Hey kiddo, I’m going to need you to give that back to me.” He laughed nervously, holding out his hand.
“How did she get that?” Mary exclaimed.
“Hell if I know.” Dean kept smiling, hoping that Makayla would calmly hand over his very lethal weapon.
“That’s a bad word, Uncle Dean.” Kayla scolded, shaking the pistol at him. Dean’s eyes widened frantically.
“Makayla Mary Y/L/N, give him that gun. You know that it’s not a toy.” Your mom voice instinctively kicked in and Makayla pouted her lip, giving you her classic puppy dog gaze. You could tell that Dean’s resolve was failing to her cuteness, but you were holding strong. You put your hands on your hips. “Now.” She handed Dean his pistol and he quickly tucked it into his waistband. Mary was looking at you, blush spreading on her cheeks.
“What did you say her name was?” She gasped. You hadn’t even realized that you said her full name.
“It’s um, Makayla, after my best friend. And Mary… after you.” Even if Sam didn’t know when she was born, you still wanted his family to be a part of her. For the first time since you’d met, Mary looked at you without glaring. She looked really touched.
“Piggyback ride!” Makayla squealed before suddenly jumping onto Dean’s back.
“Son of a-” He started until you gave him a stern look. He glared back at you, but underneath his annoyance, he had a tone of affection in his voice when he spoke to his niece. “Alright kid, but only for a few laps.” You looked on with an amused smile. Dean even made a few horse noises, making Makayla giggle. You felt your phone buzz in your pocket. It was Naomi, probably just calling to check in and make sure you were alright.
“Miss me already? How sweet.” You snarked. Your smirk dropped when it wasn’t her voice on the other line.
“We’ve been looking for you for a long time.” The man drawled. Your heart dropped. You knew that voice. That night flashed through your head. That fake southern sweetness singing your name as they hunted you, your best friend’s blood still dripping from their lips. Montgomery.
“Where’s Naomi?” You snapped, your changed tone catching Mary’s attention.
“She was delicious.” He laughed. You tried to focus on your anger to cover up the pain that shot through your chest.
“I’m going to end you, you bastard.” You said through gritted teeth. He just laughed.
“We know all about the little team you’ve assembled. It’s touching really. To think I’ve inspired a family reunion.” The vamp mocked you and you could feel the hot tears blurring your vision. “Make no mistake, Y/N. They’ll all die. Starting with that handsome tall one, the one that knocked you up all those years ago. But don’t worry, I have bigger plans for you.” His voice changed to a terrifying growl. “I’m going to turn you, Y/N. Turn you into the thing you’ve hated for so long. And that brat will be your first kill.”
Montgomery hung up and you looked at the phone with a shaking hand. Don’t let him get to you. Don’t let him get to you. You threw the phone against the wall, watching it shatter on the floor. You didn’t even see Sam standing there. You were lucky you missed his head. Dean put a frightened Makayla down.
“Hey Kayla, why don’t you go with Grandma Mary for a little while?” Dean gave her a little push towards his mother and Mary took her to the other room. His flashed back to you. “The hell was that?”
“They killed Naomi.” You said, resisting the urge to wreck anything you could get your hands on, especially since Dean was the closest. “They killed her because she helped me.” Naomi was a good friend. Whenever you needed someone to watch over Makayla, it was Naomi’s place that you took her to. No questions as long as you came back in one piece.
“I’m sorry.” Sam sighed. His kind tone nearly made you break. You needed someone to yell, to blame you for letting this happen.
“We’ve got to take this sons of bitches out.” Dean was itching to kill and he knew you were too.
“We need a plan first, Dean. We can’t just go in swinging machetes.” Sam scoffed. “We don’t even know where they are.”
“We can always draw them out.” You suggested. “They want me, they can come and get me.”
“What? No.” Sam exclaimed. “That’s not even remotely an option.”
“Sam, it might be the only way to get to them.” You refuted. “They’ve been hunting me for too long. If Montgomery wants to dance, then I say ‘let’s dance’.”
“Did you suddenly forget that this isn’t just about you?” His jaw clenched and he crossed the kitchen to you.
“I’m doing this for Makayla.”
“No, you’re doing this for you!” Your faces were too close together and the look in his eyes made you take a step back. “You’ve gotten that sweet girl messed up in your fight for revenge when she should have grown up playing with teddy bears and Barbies.” That was the last straw. This wasn’t just about you.
“I am not John, Sam.” You spat. How dare he stand there and call you a bad mother? Sam just glared.
“Really, cause it seems to me you’re just like him. Makayla is growing up just like I did. A parent obsessed with vengeance, no regard for how screwed up they’re making their kid!” He barely finished his sentence before you slapped him.
Nobody said a word. Sam jerked his head back towards you and Dean was ready to step in before this got ugly. The moment was interrupted, however, by the quiet sound of crying. Your heart dropped and a wave of guilt washed over both you and Sam. Makayla looked up at her parents.
“We’re supposed to be a family.” She bawled. “Why do you have to fight?” Before either of you could say anything, she took off down the hall.
“Makayla!” Sam yelled, feeling absolutely awful.
“Kayla, honey come back!” The three of you went after her, but it was a big bunker and she was a pretty small child. “Makayla!”
“Damn that kid is fast.” Dean muttered. You stopped.
“Okay, Dean, you go check the dungeon, I’ll go check the bedrooms, and Sam you can look in the garage.” You suggested. Sam nodded, your fight put aside, but not forgotten. His cheek still stung a little.
“Makayla!” He called out, hearing you and Dean depart for your designated areas. He opened the door to the garage and was surprised to find the door open. “Makayla, come on out.” A cold breeze blew in and he noticed a little huddled form just outside the garage door. He took off his flannel and slowly peeked outside. “Sweetheart, what are you doing out here?” He draped his shirt around her. It might as well have been a blanket.
“I-I don’t like yelling. The shadow man always yells.” She cried. Sam sighed. He had made his daughter cry because he couldn’t just face his real feelings for you.
“I’m so sorry sweetie, you’re mom and I were having a disagreement. We won’t yell anymore.”
“Why did Mommy hit you?”
“She didn’t mean to.” He gave her a convincing smile. Makayla peeked over his shoulder.
“Who’s that?” Sam’s brows furrowed together.
“Wh-” His head was slammed into the ground before he could even turn around.
“Leave my daddy alone!” Makayla cried and a person in all black picked her up.
“No…” Sam said hazily, his consciousness slowly fading. “Makayla…”

You Meet Steve Rogers (Natasha x daughter!reader)
Summary: On a mission to rescue hostages, you end up meeting Captain America along the way. The daughter reader is 15. Since reader is in her teenage years she's pretty sassy and her and Nat have a kinda bitchy relationship but it's still sweet though.
Tumblr media
"I have a mission with Steve to go on. I should be back in the morning so stay home, and don't do anything reckless while I'm gone." Natasha says while loading up guns on her cat suit as you sit on the couch of your apartment and binge the 100 on the T.V.
"Yeah, yeah. I'll stay here." You say while shoving a load full of popcorn in your mouth. You want her to leave badly so you can go onto the next season before the next day.
"Stay here and don't stay up late." She says firmly as you turn your back to face her to say one last remark.
"No mom, I'll go to the popular girl's party, get drunk, and hook up with the hottest dude I see." She rolls her eyes as she leaves the apartment, while you snicker to herself.
Just as your about to get up to make some more popcorn your phone rings from your hoodie. You pull it out, hoping one of your friends wants to chat with you so you won't be bored all night. Instead you see Director Fury's name on the screen.
You groan, as you swipe to answer it, knowing never to not answer Fury's calls.
"Was-sup Fury." You say while shutting off the T.V.
"Agent Romanoff, it's great to here from you again. Since you haven't showed up to Shield the past two weeks." Fury says not even trying to hid the annoyance in his voice.
"Two weeks already? Well I've been very busy with school work and all." You lie, as for the real reason you haven't shown up is because you were to busy binging The 100."Romanoff I think you must have forgotten you're on Spring break." You wince as you have totally forgotten.
"Shit." You mutter under your breathe. "Shit, indeed." Fury says back after a little bit of silence.
"So why'd you call me exactly?" You ask. "I need you as back up on your mother's and Steve's mission." He then explains their mission to you.
"So what do I have to do?" You ask annoyed that your all nighter is ruined, due to saving lives. "You, my least favorite Romanoff, have to collect Shield's intel on the ship. You can also kick some ass if needed." You sigh while putting on your cat suit and loading your weapons.
"Will do pirate dude." You say while leaving the apartment. "Also I'm so flattered to be your least favorite Romanoff."
"A car should be in the front of your house to escort you to the quinjet. You can jump off shortly after Natasha and Steve are already inside the ship."
"Sounds easy enough."
"Don't disappoint me y/n." You just sigh and end the call. You let your red hair down from the messy bun it was already in. Well time to do the dirty work.
*****
As you hide in the back of the ship you do what Fury instructed and waited for everyone to get off before you leave. Once you jump off you immediately start making your way to the to the control room to grab the data and go, hoping maybe just maybe you can finish one last episode before your mom comes home. Men immediately start running at you but you take out your dagger and slide towards them on your knees, slicing their thighs.
As they knell to the floor you stab them in the chest and make a break for the room. You think about using your guns tonight off the men in front of you but you know that's more of Natasha's thing than yours. Plus the guns would be to loud and you don't want to bump into anyone you know on the mission.
So instead you just do the simple hand to hand combat and leave without a single bruising or scratch as usual while the guys are wailing in pain on the ground.
"Sorry about that, but to be fair you did ruin my movie night." You say with a sinister smile.
*****
Steve moves around the ship looking for the rest of the hostages when he sees pirates injured on the ground. He immediately thinks it's Natasha since there is no there person that can fight without some sort of weapon as good as her. Let alone lave five men unconscious on the ground. As he walks closer he sees two more injured guys on the ground with what appear to be stab wounds.
"Nat, I didn't know you had an interest in knives." Steve says into his ear piece. Natasha is confused by his statement wondering what he is talking about. It then hits her. You were here.
"I'm not." She simply says as Steve is now also more confused.
*****
As you enter the control room you immediately put the hard drive in and start collecting whatever you can. Just then something comes crashing through the door with some unconscious guy underneath him.
"Hey Rogers." You say with a small smirk on your face, recognizing the man as Captain America.
"Who are you and what are you doing?" He says sternly as he pushes you back into the wall, harshly, putting his shield up to your collar bone so you couldn't escape. However you showed no fear in your eyes as you weren't even scared, just irritated that you're still in this room.
"Damn, is this how people introduced themselves in the forties? I'm here on Director Fury's orders."
"To collect Shield intel?"
"Why are you asking if you obviously already know." You say.
"Who are you?" He says firmly looking for an answer.
"Name's y/n. I would ask for your name but I already know because of the whole being a popsicle in a freezer for 97 years."
"You knocked all those guards out there?" He says looking down at the bloody knife in your holster. You just nod quickly hoping to get out of here before your mother finds you and grounds you for life.
"Why would Fury send a 14 year old girl out here?" Ok, now your annoyed with the interrogation.
"I'm 15 Cap. Get your facts strait before spitting them out." He most likely annoyed to as he's pushing you a little more further against the wall. Just as your about to grab the knife and stab him the thigh a familiar voice fills the room.
"Let her go Steve." Natasha says as he releases the pressure on your collar bone. As he moves out of the way you see the one person you've been planning on avoiding this entire mission. Natasha gives you the deadliest glare you've ever seen her give you. You tense for a second but let your muscles relax knowing this isn't the time to be a wimp.
"Hey-" She immediately cuts you off."Я сказал тебе оставаться дома." She's yelling to you in Russian, that's not good. (I told you to stay home.)
"Я знаю, но Фьюри сказал, что тебе нужна помощь.There for here I am." You say trying to reason with her as Steve just watches you guys very confused. (I know, but Fury said you needed back up.) She takes the hard drive out and throws it to you. You catch it and immediately put it in your pocket."Фьюри твоя мать? Нет, я." (Is Fury your mother? No, I am.) You sigh in defeat.
"Can I say something?" Steve says loudly.
"Shut it star spangled capris." You say as he is clearly taken aback.  All of a sudden a grenade is thrown at you by the unconscious guy but Steve uses his shield to knock it away. He grabs the you and your mother and crash into a window. Smoke fills the air as you chuckle slightly at the look on Steve's face when you mocked him. However Steve and Natasha just look at you weirdly and your face goes back to its stern expression.
  ******
You, Natasha, and Steve stand in front Fury's desk in Shield's headquarters. As he stares at you three without saying anything you try to avoid eye contact and just tap the floor with your boot.
"Why would you send a child out on our mission without telling me?" Steve says interrupting the silence.
"Cap did you see the results of putting her on the field? Her mission was to collect Shield intel, and she did it with even getting a few of our foes hurt." Fury responds with and you look at your mother and see a smirk on her face, which makes you feel even more accomplished.
"People could have gotten killed and hurt." Steve says.
"I believe Fury sent the best assassins and super soldier to make sure that didn't happen." Natasha says as you nod your head agreeing.
"The kid could have gotten hurt!"
"Agent y/n Romanoff, is one of the best junior agents, Shield has ever seen. She doesn't get hurt easily." You see the shocked look on Steve's face, mixed with confusion. You, Fury, and Natasha try your best not to laugh as Steve's mouth is practically wide open.
"You better close your mouth before a fly goes in." You say as Steve moves his head looking at you, then Natasha, then back at you. He slowly starts to notice how similar you two are.
"Oh, yeah. I have a daughter." Natasha says as if she just accidentally forgot to mention it before.
"Oh hell no. I'm dreaming." Steve says raising his arms up and starts to leave the room.
"I can assure you that I'm very much real." You say laughing.
I enjoyed making this one a lot. I also just love writing sassy y/n. Sorry if Russian is wrong I'm so sorry I just used google translate. Also I might move to tumblr idk. Next story will be You're okay!

Back to You
Tumblr media
Mark Tuan X Reader
Genre: Angst, Fluff, Exes to lovers
Warnings: insecurities, self doubt
Summary: You had broken up with Mark over four months ago for reasons still unknown to him and as much as he tries to move on, he knows there’s just no getting over you.
Word Count: 4.2k
“You have halo? Cool! I love halo.” Mark hummed softly in response as he motioned for the younger girl to sit down.
“Would you like to play for a little bit? I actually haven’t touched that game in months. I’ll go find us something to snack on while you get it set up.” She beamed up at him while he made his way towards the kitchen.
He began to search through his cupboard for some ramen when he heard his name being called. “Everything okay?” When Mark saw the look of curiosity on her face, he grew confused until he looked at the tv.
“Whose princess? Is it okay if I use her profile? Or should I use yours?” Mark felt his stomach drop. There was a reason why he hadn’t played that game in a while and there it was, like a slap in the face by reality that you were no longer in his life. The two of you broke up over four months ago and as much as he wanted to say the break up was mutual, it was you who decided that you both should go your separate ways. Although it’s been a while and he knew he should’ve been moved on by now, he was still so madly in love with you and holding on to a tiny bit of hope that you would find your way back to him one day.
“Oh, um—you can play on mine.” Alyssa was a very sweet girl. Mark’s friends were tired of him moping around and staying home all the time because he didn’t have the energy nor motivation to go out since you left; so Jinyoung forced him to go on a date and set him up with one of his coworkers. As much as Mark didn’t feel like getting in to a relationship just yet, he felt as if this was the only way he could get over you completely; even if God knows he never wanted to. Ever.
This was the third date they have been on since they were introduced to each other almost a month ago and honestly Mark wasn’t feeling it. She was smart; graduated from college with her bachelor’s degree in political science. She was also very soft spoken and kind, always asked Mark how his day was and gave him her full attention whenever he spoke—if he ever spoke. No matter how nice she was and how obvious she made it that she was developing feelings for him, she wasn’t you.
Nobody could ever take your place in Mark’s life. He was sure of it. Nobody could fill the hole in his chest or patch up his broken heart that you caused when you left him. His mind was now clouded with thoughts of you as he started to cook the ramen and he could feel himself tearing up.
When Mark felt that the bed was now more vacant, and your side of the bed was cold, he stifled back a yawn and took a few moments to wake his body up before making the journey to find you. It was currently 3:15 in the morning and he couldn’t help but feel as if something was wrong. You would never wake up in the wee hours of the morning unless it was to pee or if you got hungry, but you would always bring the food back to bed, so where could you have gone?
Right as he walked out of your shared bedroom, it was then as he heard the sound of guns being shot and cries of aliens that he knew you were playing halo. The newest installment of your favorite video game had just been released and you have been hinting to Mark for weeks that you wanted it for your birthday to which he would laugh at your subtleness.
When he surprised you with the game on top of your own controller and a headset that he knew you’d only use because you wanted to “look like a gamer” and not actually talk to others through it like he did, you were over the moon and you showed him how grateful you were on your knees the rest of that night.
Since you were busy with both work and school, you never had much time to play the game until you got home and even then, you were exhausted to say the least and never had enough energy to even eat; so the game went untouched for a few days. You woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to go back to sleep, even if the tight grip on your waist was quite comforting; so you made your way in to the living room and wrapped yourself in to a blanket burrito while quietly turning on the game. Mark giggled softly to himself when he saw how focused you were on the game and how adorable you looked squished between all the pillows.
“Babe.”
You didn’t notice your boyfriend at the edge of the couch until he tapped on your knee to get your attention. “Hey love, sorry did I wake you?” He shook his head and motioned for you to sit up so that he could sit down and immediately pulled you on to his lap, wrapping his arms around your waist protectively.
“Your absence is what got me up. I can’t sleep without you. You seem to be having fun though, how long have you been up for?” He propped his chin on your shoulder and you found yourself leaning back in to his embrace. You turned to steal a chaste kiss from the corner of his lips before returning to your game.
“Almost three hours. Once I finish a level I end up starting the next one and I can’t stop. This current level is so frustrating though, if you run out of ammo, you have to run out on the field and find more on your own. How am I supposed to protect myself and look for another weapon without getting killed—“ you were quick to smile in the kiss when Mark turned you around to face him and crashed his lips against yours.
“Couldn’t help myself. You’re so adorable you know that? Tell me more.” You continued to explain everything you’ve done so far, from killing hundreds of aliens to completing missions whilst aboard stolen planes. You were so into describing the game that you failed to notice how Mark was looking at you with so much love and adoration in his eyes. He looked at you as if you were the creator of the universe. As if you were the one who set all the stars, the sun and the moon in to the sky. Your boyfriend didn’t think it was possible for someone to make slaughtering aliens sound so cute.
You asked Mark if he wanted to head back to sleep but he was quick to disagree and held you tighter against his body. As you continued to play the game, you started to absentmindedly grind against Mark’s lap causing him to quickly grow aroused at the sensation. When you felt his hard on graze against your ass, your cheeks warmed up. “Y/n, maybe it’s time for us to go back to bed.” The raspiness in his voice sent chills down your spine and you knew exactly what he had in mind. You decided to mess with him even if you knew what his plans were once you were to head back to the room.
“Tired?”
“No. The complete opposite actually. I’m wide awake, and so is little Mark. Since you’re the one to cause the problem in my pants, I believe you should be the one to fix it. Now let’s go.”
The memory was all too much for him to take in. He made love to you for the rest of that morning until he had to get ready for work. If he knew that was going to be one of the last times he got to love on your body, he would’ve called in sick and taken his time with you. He would’ve kissed you longer, map your body with all of his love bites and held you just a little tighter so that you wouldn’t have been able to leave him.
The timer sounding off stopped him from drowning himself in self pity and he finished putting the ramen in to bowls before making his way back in to the living room. Alyssa had all her attention on the tv screen in front of her but paused the game when she saw Mark placing the bowls down on the coffee table. She quietly thanked him and began to eat her food.
Both her and Mark sat in silence, but the atmosphere was extremely awkward with neither of them knowing what to say. Mark felt bad, he knew he was the cause of the tension between the two of them, but he just didn’t feel like this was right. How could he put effort in to something he wanted no part in? Once they were both done eating, he took their bowls and set them down in the sink while releasing an exhausted sigh. He decided that he wanted to go to sleep and used that as excuse to get Alyssa out of his apartment.
When he returned back to the living room, he saw her reaching out to his dog Milo, but the cute little pup had already taken a disliking to the poor girl. Milo wasn’t one to like people all that easily, so if he showed attention to anyone other than Mark, that just proved the puppy liked you. Other than Mark, Milo loved you. You were good with giving him baths once a week, you’d pick up after him, you’d feed him treats when Mark wasn’t home and you’d always play fetch with him. Sometimes Mark would find himself getting jealous that Milo seemed to like you just a bit more, but it was also very cute.
With that being said, Milo seemed to have had a hard time accepting your absence once you moved out. He was no longer as active, wasn’t as quick to come whenever Mark called and he no longer ate all of his food that Mark put out for him. He still had a hard time understanding why you left, but he was never one to pry things out of you. If you had something on your mind, he would wait for you to tell him willingly.
“He’s so cute! What’s his name?” Mark shrugged.
“Milo.” She tried to play fetch with him but Milo payed her no mind before returning back to the room.
“Hey Alyssa, I um—I actually have to get up early tomorrow so is it okay to end things here tonight? I’m sorry about that—I’ll take you home—“ she shook her head politely while standing up and gathering her things.
“It’s alright, I can catch a taxi. Don’t worry about me. Thank you for having me over.” He gave her a sad smile before walking her over to the door.
“Oh—before I go, I um—I think you should talk to her.” Mark looked up at her in curiosity but right as he was going to ask her who she was talking about, she continued. “Jinyoung told me about your ex-girlfriend. I didn’t think much about it at first, but you seemed so distant, so out of it on our last two dates and I knew there was a reason someone as attractive and kind-hearted as you was single. It’s because your heart is still taken. Either you’re still in love with her, or you’re just not interested in me. But you should try, you never know what the outcome could be. For all you know, she’s still in love with you too. Have a nice night Mark. Take care.”
She pulled him in to a quick hug and went on her way. Her perfume was sweet and a bit too strong for his liking. You were never one to wear perfume. If anything, you preferred the scent of your laundry detergent; fresh linen always smelt good to you and Mark ended up liking the scent because it always reminded him of you. Right after your breakup, he had to change his laundry soap because it would always bring him to tears.
Mark made his way to the room and plopped down on the bed; shoving his face in to the pillow and released a frustrated grunt. The first week after you completely took out all of your things, Mark found himself sleeping on the couch. There was no way he’d be able to sleep on the bed without you in his arms. Matter a fact, he only started to sleep in his room again just two weeks ago. Milo even joined him on the bed and Mark was very grateful he had the cute little dog to be there for him or he was sure he’d go insane. He got up and went to the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth. Then he took off his shirt and changed in to a pair of sweats before making his way back in to the living room to turn off the tv.
As he reached for the game console and was about to turn off the tv, he saw a green dot in the corner of his eye, signaling that you were currently online. His heart rate started to increase and he felt a single tear fall on his cheek. He hasn’t seen you since your last night together and seeing that you were currently playing a game made him smile to himself. He decided to play for a few minutes and it took every bone in his body not to send you a game request.
Ten minutes after he started the game, he got a notification that you sent a message. He felt as if his heart was going to combust out of his chest and his finger began to circle over the button. A huge part of him wanted to see what you had to say. His heart was practically pleading with him to open it but his mind was afraid that you said something he didn’t want to hear. Going with the commands of his heart, he opened the message and released the breath he didn’t even know he was holding.
Tiger-lily: Hey. It’s been a while. Are you busy? 10:26 p.m.
Mark smiled like an idiot to himself before waiting a few minutes to respond, not wanting to seem too forward or too eager even if he was extremely excited. He could only hope this meant good things.
Morkus: Never too busy for you. What’s up? Are you okay? 10:30 p.m.
Tiger-lily: I think I made a mistake. I know that it’s late, but can I come over? 10:32 p.m.
He bit down on his bottom lip to prevent himself from screaming. Were you referring to breaking up with him? Did you regret leaving? Were you regretting these last four months of being away from him? What was the mistake that you made? He could only pray something good was about to happen.
Morkus: Yeah sure. Need me to come get you? 10:33 p.m.
Tiger-lily: No. I should be fine. I’ll see you in a few. 10:35 p.m.
Mark quickly got up from off the couch and turned off the tv while looking around to make sure the place looked spotless. He couldn’t believe you were on your way to his apartment nor could he process the idea of you regretting the breakup. He knew he shouldn’t have been getting his hopes up, but his heart felt so full. When he saw Milo slowly treading in to the living room, he picked him up and began kissing him all around his face.
“Mommy’s coming home Milo. Let’s get you cleaned up. She’s going to know I’ve been a mess without her just by the fact that you wreak.” As he began to give Milo a bath, he heard a soft knock on the door and he had to calm himself down before opening it. His mind was full of so many thoughts and questions he wanted to ask you, but he didn’t want to ruin things before they could even start. Once he laid his eyes on you, it’s like he fell in love with you all over again. Has it really been four months since he last saw you? Since he last held you and kissed you? Since he last got to hold your dainty little hand in his and professed his love for you both to the world and amongst yourselves?
“Hi.”
“Hey.” He gave you a soft smile and offered for you to come inside.
“Can I get you something to eat or drink? You look very good by the way. Well, I mean—you always look good. Even when you wear a old, raggedy shirt of mine with your hair in a bun honestly I think that’s when you look the prettiest—I should stop talking I’m sorry. Let me go get Milo from out of the sink.” He grinned when he saw the small smile rise upon your face before heading back in to the bathroom. After drying Milo off with a towel and placing him on the ground, he gave himself a few seconds to come to his senses. Even after all this time, you still had quite the effect on him and only you were able to turn him in to a stuttering and clumsy mess.
His heart warmed when he saw Milo in your hands, licking at your face in excitement. He missed this. Missed you. It was all so natural for you to be in his environment again. It’s as if you never left in the first place. He took in your appearance and frowned when he saw the bags under your eyes and how much weight you lost. Although there were so many questions on the tip of his tongue, he was going to let you take the lead in how things were going to go. The two of you sat in silence for a few minutes, attempting to get used to the other’s presence. Finally, after what felt like forever, you spoke up.
“I’m sorry.” He looked at you in confusion, not understanding where you were coming from and waited for you to continue. “Like I said earlier, I made a mistake. These last few months without you have been hell. I was going through some shit at the time and I didn’t want to bring you down with me. I needed to learn to love myself before I could allow you to continue loving me. I know it was selfish of me and I genuinely felt like you deserved better, so that’s why I left. And I lied, I didn’t leave because I was no longer happy in this relationship. I’m happiest when I’m with you.”
You took in a deep breath before continuing your rant. Seeing Mark look so small, so fragile and knowing that you were the reason made you feel terrible. He was the most amazing boyfriend and took such great care of you. He never failed to make you smile and you were sure his laugh was the most beautiful sound you have ever heard. How could you break his heart when he was the only person who has ever meant anything to you?
“I’ve been so lost without you. Learning to live without you was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Every time something went wrong in my life, I wanted so badly to run to you and cry in to your arms. But I felt so stupid, I’m the one who put us in this situation; I had no right to feel sorry for myself. Not a day went by where I didn’t think about you. I wanted to call you, text you and I even found myself outside of the apartment wanting to come in and apologize for all the pain I’ve caused you. I’m sorry it took so long. I was cleaning out my closet earlier when I stumbled upon the letter you wrote me for our third anniversary and I kept replaying the last few words in my mind over and over again the entire day. “I love you y/n and I plan to love you for the rest of my life. No matter what happens, it’s always going to be you.” I cried like a baby for hours and I finally came to the conclusion that I don’t want to be without you anymore. I overheard Youngjae and Yugyeom talking about a girl and how you’re dating again, so I understand if I’m too late, I just needed you to know that I’m still so madly in love with you and I’d do anything to be yours again.”
You took his silence as a bad sign and began to pick at your nails in nervousness, a habit Mark noticed that you would do whenever you were worried. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t upset to hear that you broke up with him because you felt you weren’t enough for him and because you were dealing with some battles on your own but he couldn’t blame you. You were always so independent, you were never one to tell anybody your problems even if Mark would tell you countless times that he was always there for you whenever you needed him. His heart hurt for you and he hated that he didn’t see the signs before.
“Baby.” Hearing him call you the term of endearment sent a warm feeling to your chest and before you knew it, his lips were smashing against yours. You deepened the kiss and wrapped your arms up around his neck. His lips were soft and tasted like kimchee and you had to stifle back a laugh. Mark was notorious for eating ramen. You were surprised he’s never gotten tired of it seeing as how that is all he ever eats. He licked your bottom lip before bringing it in to his mouth playfully. The two of you made out for quite some time, neither of you being able to pull away because it’s been so long. Back when the two of you first started dating, you and Mark were constantly kissing each other. Whether it was a quick peck goodbye as one of you left for work, or a rough, passionate make out session after a heated argument, you could never go a day without connecting your lips with his. To Mark’s dismay, you broke the kiss in order to catch your breath and placed your forehead against his.
“I’ve missed you.” You giggled softly before placing a sloppy kiss on his jaw.
“I’ve missed you too. God, you don’t understand just how much Mark.” He reached for your fingers and began to play with them while bringing them up to his lips in order to gently kiss your fingertips.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were suffering y/n? I would’ve been there for you. I should’ve been there for you. That’s what I’m here for. I’m your boyfriend. You’re supposed to lean on me whenever life gets too hard. You should’ve let me help you carry the burden, not go through that all by yourself. If I knew that was the reason why you left, I wouldn’t have let you go in the first place. Don’t you dare for one second think you’re not good enough for me. I meant it every single time I said it. You’re perfect baby. You’re all I want in this lifetime and the next. God, I don’t know what I did to deserve you here right now but I’ll do it time and time again if it means you’ll stay. I love you so much y/n. Promise me baby, if there ever comes a time where you are going through a rough patch, you will tell me. Please. I can’t lose you again. The pain is too much to handle.”
He reached for your hand and brought it up to his chest so that you could feel how quickly it was beating. “This pathetic thing I call my heart, or whatever is left of it, whatever you didn’t take with you when you broke up with me, it’s yours. You have all of me y/n. Forever. I’m yours forever.” The tears were hot as they fell down your face causing you to reconnect your lips together once more. Mark stood up and brought you with him, wrapping your legs around his hips and placed his hands on your ass, guiding you both towards the bedroom.
“Mark what are you going to do—“
“You. All night.” You gave him a knowing look and let out a soft moan when he slapped one of your ass cheeks. “I haven’t busted a nut in over four months y/n, I think we need to make up for lost time.”
He threw you all but gently on the bed before attacking your face with sloppy kisses. “Mmm—Mark!”
“Just like that baby. I love hearing my name fall from your pretty lips. I love you so much y/n. Thank you for coming back to me.”

If things were chilly before, they’re freezing now. You and Mark won’t even talk to each other.
Surprisingly, not a lot of people ask about what’s going on between you two. Maybe it’s because they can already sense that you don’t want to talk about it. Maybe it’s because you already told enough people off last year after they decided to pry into your nonexistent love life.
Anyway, even if they did ask, what would you say? Oh, Mark didn’t want to find the root cause behind the group dealing illegal fucking weapons made from alien material, and I did.
You’d get placed in a mental institution.
Patrols aren’t peaceful anymore. You go earlier now since the university labs need to be fixed up, which just means more hours of strained silence as you help people with directions and beat up muggers. The two of you still patrol on the same schedule, but you watch completely different sides of Queens.
You rarely, if ever, call on him for help anymore. It’s not like there’s that much going on anyway.
One week passes like this, then two. You skulk around the university every day after school, trying to find out literally anything about the weapons dealers, but the explosion blew everything up. You come to realize just how lucky you and Mark were to have made it out alive.
Still doesn’t mean you think he’s right.
You head home from the university one evening, ready to go out and patrol for a bit. Normally, you keep your suit at school now – it’s easier to just pick it up to change right after visiting university. Today, though, you wanted a snack, so you came home first.
To your surprise, just as you’ve pulled out your suit, you hear Johnny walk through the apartment door.
“Hey, Johnny.” You walk out of your room and give him a tired smile. “Did you get out early?”
“No, right on time.” Your brother gives you a quick hug. “There wasn’t any extra work to get done today, so we all left on the clock. I was just going to go out and get some food for us – give me half an hour?”
No patrolling tonight, then. That’s fine. “Sure.” You smile.
“Are you all right?” Johnny frowns slightly, leaning in slightly. “You look a little sick.”
You force a laugh. “Not sick. Just tired.”
Johnny still looks unconvinced. “You’ve been like this for a while,” he says carefully. “I know school’s stressful, but you didn’t used to be this tired.” He looks closer, eyes narrowing. “Have you been getting into fights? You look a little beat up.”
“Johnny, what?” You heave a sigh of (faked) disbelief. “I can’t even beat anyone in an arm-wrestling match. How do you expect me to get into fights? I yell a lot, but I’m not stupid. I just get bruises from moving around when I sleep.”
Your brother acquiesces. “Well, if anything’s going on, tell me, all right?” He smiles.
“Seriously, dude.” You smile back. “It’s just a little drama at school, that’s all. If you get me my favorite Chinese, I’m pretty sure I’ll be fine again.”
“If you say so.” Johnny starts turning around, then pauses. “How come Mark hasn’t been around in some time?”
Right. That.
“He’s, um, working on a project for Tuan,” you say quickly. “It’s taking up a lot of his time. Tuan wants a paper and presentation done before next month is over.”
“Shit.” Johnny whistles. “You kids just keep getting smarter and smarter.”
“As if you aren’t smart enough,” you scoff.
“You flatter me.” Your brother laughs, ruffling your hair. “Be back soon.” With a quick kiss on your head, he leaves the apartment and you throw yourself onto the couch.
And not two minutes later, there’s a knock on the door.
“Johnny? Did you forget some –”
It’s not Johnny.
It’s Haechan.
“Oh, hi, Haechan.” You smile. “Why’re you here?”
“Hi Y/N! I just wanted to ask you some stuff.” He smiles blindingly. “Can I come in?”
“Yeah, sure. Leave your shoes here.” You close the door behind your friend. “My brother’s out for a bit, but he’ll be back soon. You can come into my room.”
Haechan follows behind as you walk across the small apartment to your bedroom. You open the door.
And you realize your mistake.
“Fuck, wait –” you panic, trying to close the door again. “Um –”
Too late. Haechan’s already seen the black hoodie and pale mask sitting on your bed.
Utter silence reigns in the apartment.
“You’re Spiderwoman?” Haechan finally shrieks, grabbing your shoulders and shaking you. “What the fuck, Y/N?”
You wince, lurching out of his grip. “Don’t call me that,” you groan, sinking to the floor. “Not Spiderwoman. I don’t like that.”
Haechan doesn’t even hear you. “How the fuck did that even happen?”
“God, okay, please just shut up and calm down before the entire neighborhood hears you.” You shove Haechan into your room and close the door. “Do not interrupt me while I explain.”
So you tell him everything – OsCorp, the spider bite, deciding to fight crime. You pause a little after talking about the alien weaponry, unsure whether to go into the details of your fight with Mark.
Haechan looks blindsided. “Jesus Christ,” he mutters. “So on top of school and lab work and AcaDec, you’re patrolling Queens until, like, two a.m.?”
You shrug. “Yeah.”
“Man, what the fuck.” He flops down on your bed. “That’s just…”
Silence comes over the room once more.
“Okay, I’m just going to file away all this information for processing later, I’m too sleep-deprived for this. Keep your phone on, I’m going to send you so many texts later. Anyway, I’m just here because I wanted to ask you what your and Mark’s deal is.” Haechan sits up again. “Because Mark’s being a little bitch and won’t say anything. You know he asked Lia to homecoming?”
Something stings in your stomach at the mention of Lia. “Yeah, I know.” You heard the news last week. “Well, I guess it’s easier to tell, now that you know.”
By the time you’ve finished talking about all of your fucked-up adventures with alien weapons and the vulture man, you think Haechan is going to have an aneurysm.
“So you’re pissed at Mark because he doesn’t want to fight alien guns, and he’s pissed at you because he thinks you have a death wish,” he eventually summarizes.
You nod.
“That’s a mess.”
You snort. “You think?”
More silence.
“So, are you going to homecoming?” Haechan asks, randomly changing the subject.
“The fuck kinda topic change –” You sigh. “I don’t know.”
You have a dress, bought on sale at a department store with Jihyo, Yeri, and Lia. The whole time, you wanted to just curl in on yourself and disappear because you’d already known Lia was going to the dance with Mark, but you somehow survived. It’s relatively cheap, but according to the other girls – even Lia, who seemed very uncomfortable every time she looked at you – it looks great.
So you have a dress. You also have shoes, a pair of low heels that Jihyo lent you. Yeri has also promised to do your hair. You could definitely go to homecoming.
Whether or not you want to is another question.
“Hey, just go.” Haechan flops onto your bed again, jostling your blankets. “You don’t have to talk to Mark. Just go with Jihyo and Yeri. It’s junior year, might as well celebrate before the year goes to shit.”
“Are you going?” you ask.
“Duh.”
You picture the dress hanging in your closet. You imagine putting on Jihyo’s heels, Yeri’s smooth hands tying back your hair. You imagine laughing in a way you haven’t in weeks as you watch people whirl around stupidly on the dance floor.
With a sigh, you nod. “I’ll go.”
. . . . .
Mark hasn’t felt this nervous in what feels like forever. It’s not the terrifying kind of nervous, the kind that he feels when he’s breaking and entering secure university labs. This is a good kind of nervous – heart pounding not in terror, but with anticipation.
Aunt Mei drives him to Lia’s house after cooing over how handsome he looks in the suit they rented. It isn’t anything special, really, but Mark thinks he looks good. With a last reminder to “have fun!”, Mei drives to her night shift at the hospital, leaving him to ring the doorbell.
Lia’s mom opens the door. She’s a beautiful woman with a wide smile, and she immediately makes Mark feel welcome. “Come in, come in,” she says, waving him into the house. “You can wait for Lia in the kitchen, she’ll be down in just a minute.”
So there he stands, fiddling around with the corsage box in his hands. The house is a lot bigger than he thought – at the party, with the rooms so full of people, it seemed much smaller. He likes this change.
“Oh, hello. You must be Marcus!”
Mark turns around so fast it feels like he got whiplash.
Standing in front of him is who he thinks is Lia’s dad.
Which is bad, because Mark knows him as the vulture dude.
Belatedly, he realizes the vulture man – Lia’s dad? Jesus Christ, now he’s shaking – is holding out a hand. Gingerly, Mark reaches around and shakes it with fingers clammy with sweat, hoping his smile doesn’t look too fake. “M-Mark, actually,” he stutters.
“Well, it’s very good to meet you, Mark. Lia’s talked about you a lot. I’m Adrian Toomes.” That’s all he gets out before Lia comes down the stairs.
Mark is sure she looks beautiful. Her dress sparkles and she’s smiling widely as she takes the corsage and he takes her hand like he’s supposed to. But on the inside, he’s freaking out.
What do I do what do I do what do I do what do I do what the fuck do I do –
“I’ll drive you two there.” Mr. Toomes’s voice breaks through Mark’s swirling thoughts, turning them into a pool of existential dread. “I’ve got a flight in two hours, but I think I can spare the time to send my daughter off.”
“W-where’s your flight, sir?” Mark asks, hoping he sounds politely interested and not deathly afraid.
“New Jersey.” Mr. Toomes smiles at him. “I’m a parts collector, see, so I’m going off to inspect a new shipment.”
Alarm bells start ringing in Mark’s head. “I see,” he says faintly.
He’s pretty sure he’s sweating as he enters the car. Lia goes on her phone, still holding his hand, and smiles at him. He tries to smile back.
“So, Mark, Lia tells me you’re pretty smart.” Mr. Toomes smiles into the rearview mirror. “Considering you go to Midtown, that must be a pretty big compliment, huh?”
“He’s seriously smart, Dad.” Lia smiles back. “He’s probably going to be valedictorian.”
Mark laughs nervously. “Well, there’s still some competition…”
“Oh, hush.” She squeezes his hand. “He’s the best at physics on the AcaDec team, and he works in Professor Tuan’s lab after school! You know, the lab at… was it NYU?”
Mark’s eyes go wide. He knows he spoke during the confrontation at the university, but until now, vulture man hasn’t connected the dots yet. Maybe he just didn’t recognize Mark’s voice.
“This is the vulture dude?”
He winces.
Please don’t make the connection, please don’t make the connection, please…
His stomach plummets as Mr. Toomes’s eyes narrow. “Really? NYU? What do you do?”
“Oh, um, I help Professor Tuan build things, test material strength, write some simulation programs…” he trails off. “Not much.”
“Oh, shut up!” Lia starts talking again, but Mark can’t even think properly. Terror blurs his vision and fills his mind.
What should he do?
He told you he was going to give all of this up. He told you he didn’t want to die because of this mess. But there’s a clear lead right in front of him, the guy definitely recognizes him, and if he doesn’t do something tonight, this new shipment of whatever it is will probably escalate things to a whole new level.
Dimly, he registers the fact that Mr. Toomes has pulled up in front of the school. “Lia, darling, you go on first. I want to have a little talk with Mark here before I let him go.”
Mark feels sick.
Lia just rolls her eyes, oblivious to the turmoil occurring in his mind. “Don’t roast my date, Dad,” she warns playfully.
“I won’t.” He laughs, letting her kiss his cheek. “Now run along.”
Lia’s dad’s eyes turn blank immediately after the car door slams closed. Slowly, he turns around to face Mark.
The coldness radiating off his expression freezes Mark in place.
“Does she know?”
Mark almost squeaks. “Know… what?”
“So she doesn’t.” Mr. Toomes nods. “That’s good. Good boy.”
That shakes him to the core.
“I thought I knew your voice.” The man smirks slightly. “It’s all right. I’ve got a few secrets of my own. And I’ll tell you one thing – everything I’ve ever done was for my family. Every. Single. Thing.”
Outwardly, Mark doesn’t change his expression. Internally, he finds his resolve hardening.
How is selling illegal weapons something to do for your family? How is making crime even more prevalent something to do for your family? How is threatening to kill two sixteen-year-old kids something to do for your family?
If Toomes wasn’t the leader of this operation, Mark might back down. But his fancy house? His clear wealth?
That doesn’t give him much in Mark’s book.
“Lia likes you a lot. Likes Spiderman and Spiderwoman too, or whatever you and your little friend call yourselves.” He smirks again. “She’s my daughter. I love her. So for that, I’ll cut you a deal.”
Mark stays silent.
“You walk through those doors. You forget all of this ever happened. You and your buddy Spiderwoman never interfere with my business ever again.” His eyes narrow. “Or I will find every single person you hold dear and kill them in front of you.”
Silence.
“That’s how far I’ll go to protect my family.” Mr. Toomes smiles again, but it’s not a pleasant one.
More silence.
“Hey. I just saved your life.” His voice takes on a sharper edge. “What do you say?”
Mark swallows. “Thank you,” he mutters.
“You’re welcome.” The smile comes back, wolfish this time. “Now you go in there and show my daughter a good time.” He chuckles slightly. “Just not too good of a time.”
Mark nods. He opens the door, steps outside, and closes it.
He leaves his phone in the backseat.
. . . . .
You’re in the corner with Yeri, waiting for Jihyo and Daniel, when Lia walks through the door. Your eyes narrow.
“Where’s Mark?” Yeri expresses your question for you.
A barbed insult rises on your tongue, but you swallow it. Mark, whatever he said to you and you said to him, isn’t a bad person. He wouldn’t leave his date hanging. And sure enough, a few minutes later, he walks in too.
Only he doesn’t head for Lia.
His eyes search the room, clearly looking for someone else even though Lia’s almost directly in front of him. They settle on you, and he immediately starts walking – almost running – over.
“Why’s he coming here?” Yeri mutters. Annoyance starts building up in your chest as well, until Mark gets close enough for you to see the panicked but resolute expression on his face.
“Y/N,” he breathes once he reaches you. “Y/N, please, can we talk?”
The petty part of you wants to say no, but the rational part of you pushes it back. Mark looks like he’s about to have a heart attack. You’ve only ever seen him like this before when he’s full-on panicking.
Like that first anniversary of his uncle’s death.
You nod. “Yeah, sure. Let’s go. Now.”
Yeri makes a noise of concern in her throat, but you flash her a quick smile. “It’s fine, Yeri. Have fun with Jihyo and Daniel, all right? I’ll find you.”
You have a feeling you won’t.
Mark all but drags you out of the decorated cafeteria and into an empty, dark hallway. “Mark?” You grab his wrist, forcing him to turn around. “Mark, what’s wrong?”
“Lia’s dad is vulture man.”
Your knees go weak. “Run that by me one more time.”
“Lia’s dad is vulture man,” Mark says again, looking more and more panicked by the second. “He drove us here and when Lia mentioned I work with Tuan, he made the connection. He heard me talk that night with the explosions, remember?”
You do. All too well.
“He let me go if I promised not to say anything and now he’s going to pick up a fucking shipment somewhere in New Jersey and I left my phone in his backseat so one of us could stay behind and track it –”
You cut Mark off before he starts hyperventilating. “Haechan.”
“What? What does Haechan –”
“He came over one day and accidentally saw my outfit,” you explain. “He knows, Mark.”
Mark just takes it without further explanation. That’s how you know how frazzled he is. “Okay, so –”
You’re already calling him. Haechan picks up after two rings. “Y/N?”
“Come to the hallway just behind the cafeteria.” You hang up.
Haechan appears a minute later, looking extremely ruffled. “What’s going on?”
“Go to the library. Disable the cameras. Track Mark’s phone. We’re going after vulture man.”
“Wait, what –”
“Go!” you snap.
He goes.
“You keep your suit at school, right?” You don’t wait for an answer, just start sprinting down the halls. “Go get it and meet me at the back exit.”
Five minutes later, you’ve stripped out of your dress and are pulling on your mask as you race outside. Mark’s already there. You call Haechan. “Where’s Mark’s phone?”
“On 116th, heading north.” A keyboard clacks in the background. “If you go now, you can catch him. Traffic’s a bitch.”
Mark looks at you. You look at him.
Together, you swing onto the school rooftop and start running.
. . .
After fifteen minutes of nonstop sprinting and swinging and cursing when Haechan tells you to change directions, Mark finally spots the tail of the car. “There!” he yells, pointing to the streets as it takes a sharp turn and disappears.
Something doesn’t feel right. That road doesn’t go to the airport.
In fact, now that you think of it, you’ve been going in the complete opposite direction this entire time.
“The fuck?” you yell, leaping onto a streetlight. “That’s not the way to the airport! Haechan! Where’s he headed?”
“Don’t fucking know!” Haechan hisses into the phone. “Just keep going or you’ll lose him!”
You lose the car five minutes later. Haechan gets you back on track after five more. Fifteen excruciating minutes pass before Haechan finally says the car’s stopped.
“He’s at the old industrial park! You know, the one with the building that’s abandoned and shit? The one that everyone thinks is haunted?”
“Mark!” you screech above the noise of traffic. “I thought you said he was going to New Jersey!”
“I don’t fucking know! That’s what he told me! Obviously he lied!” Mark yells, still sprinting. Cursing under your breath, you follow.
Finally, you can see the park up ahead. The last few steps you take are more like stumbling than running. You almost collapse onto the ground right then and there.
“Okay,” Mark gasps, picking up the phone you’ve dropped. “We’re good, Haechan. Thanks. Just –” he wheezes – “be ready in case we call again.”
“Got it.” Haechan coughs slightly. “Be careful.”
The line goes dead.
The abandoned building looms ahead, dark and foreboding. You swallow.
“Let’s go.”
. . . . .
There’s a very clear reason why everyone thinks this industrial park is haunted. One: it looks haunted. Two: it used to house a very dangerous, non-law-abiding factory, and multiple people died in it. Three: it fucking looks haunted.
When Mark was younger, someone once dared him to come here and stay in the building alone for ten minutes. He didn’t take it, because he was a coward, but he also wasn’t stupid.
Now he’s just as much of a coward, but he’s obtained the stupid. Which is why he’s about to walk into the building that no one willingly goes into because they’re not stupid.
“I’ll go first,” he whispers. “It’ll be better if he thinks I’m alone.”
You nod. “I’ll be on the ceiling.”
Mark steps into the abandoned factory without you by his side. He can hear you stepping quietly above, which comforts him slightly, but it’s still strange to be walking through the empty halls all on his own. Your outline is barely visible to him in the dark.
The inside actually looks clean. Clearly, Lia’s dad has been using this place for some time. Parts and pieces of machinery litter tables spread out between several rooms. Some of them glow.
Mark moves faster. Hopefully he hasn’t left yet, hopefully he’s still here…
He rounds one more corner and turns into a humongous empty room. At the other end, Toomes stands, back to Mark, tinkering with something on another table.
Web strands streak out of the shooter on Mark’s wrist, pinning Toomes’s leg to the floor. The man looks around, barely fazed, and sighs. “Hey, Mark. Didn’t hear you come in.”
“It’s over,” Mark calls, stepping forward. “I’ve got you.”
Despite his words, though, he feels he couldn’t be further from the truth.
“You know, Mark, I really do admire your grit and perseverance.” Toomes turns fully, leaning against the table. “I see why Lia likes you. Gotta admit, at first, I kind of thought, ‘really?’ But I see it now.”
“Why would you do this to her?” Mark presses.
Toomes chuckles. “To her? On the contrary, young man, I’ve done all of this for her.”
Sure.
He must sense the nonplussed look on Mark’s face, even behind the mask, because he just sighs. “Mark. Listen. You’re too young. You don’t know how the world works.”
“Yeah, but I do understand that selling high-powered weapons made of alien materials that could potentially do more harm to citizens than a crate of machine guns combined is wrong,” Mark snaps.
“How do you think people like Stark paid for their shit? Their toys?” Toomes gestures broadly with one hand. “Those people up there, they don’t care about the underdogs like you and me. We clean their messes, fight their wars, and what do they do? They’re powerful. They just do whatever they want. They don’t care about us.” He sighs again. “That’s just how it is.”
Real anger starts to boil in Mark’s stomach. “Do not lump me with you,” he snarls. “On the contrary, I do know what you’re talking about. My uncle died when someone shot him in the stomach, and no one could find the shooter to bring him to justice. Just closed the investigation and let it rot. My best friend’s parents died after some drunk rich kid crashed their car. Daddy just paid off the courts, let the kid go free on probation. You think I don’t know how the world works?” He heaves in a breath. “The difference is, we – ” he catches himself before revealing he isn’t alone – “I’m trying to make it a better place. You’re so rotten that you think making the world worse is setting things right.”
Silence.
Mark sighs. “Why are you telling me all of this, anyway?”
“Because I want you to understand.” His eyes flicker upwards, and he smirks. “Oh, and I needed a bit of time to get her airborne.”
Her?
There’s a whizzing noise, and then you yell. A loud crunch sounds before Mark can even blink, and then you’re landing on the floor amidst a cloud of concrete dust.
“Should call her Raid, huh?” Toomes pats the flying metal device affectionately. “Pretty good at flushing out the roaches.”
“The only roach here is you,” you spit, standing up. “And the difference is that Raid kills.”
Toomes just lets the thing go.
The next few seconds are a blur. The device moves faster than he ever imagined anything could. Pillars crunch as it zooms through concrete. React or die – there’s no time to even think.
“I’m sorry, Mark.” Toomes’s voice carries through the room.
“The fuck are you talking about?” Mark yells. “It hasn’t even touched us!”
“True.” Toomes shrugs. “Then again, it wasn’t really trying to.”
Several more pillars crunch. Mark’s danger sense goes off like nuts.
Concrete blocks start crashing down all around him.
“If you get out of here, tell Mr. Stark I said hello,” Toomes laughs.
The last thing Mark hears is his voice screaming your name.
. . . . .
Trapped under several chunks of concrete, the first coherent thought that runs through your mind is where is Mark.
Then: how do I get out of here.
Panic bubbles in your chest when you finally register that concrete blocks have you encased on all sides. One pins your legs down. Two more flank your sides. Another rests on top of the others, giving you just enough air to breath but not nearly enough to move. A last block pretty much locks your head in.
You’re fully trapped.
Hysteria builds in your throat. You breathe faster. “Mark?” you yell as loud as you can. “Mark?” Your words turn to dry, choked sobs as you struggle underneath the blocks. “Anyone! Someone, help – Mark? MARK!”
There’s no reply.
You lie there for an untold amount of time, trying to calm your breathing. A few seconds? A few minutes? An hour? You don’t know. All you can think of is that you need to get out of here.
Come hell or high water, you’re finding Mark.
And then you’re going to hunt a vulture down.
Another deep breath. And then another. Your legs are pinned to the ground, not hard enough to break them – another block must be in the path of the more immediate one – but not enough for any movement at all. There’s a little space between your chest and the block above it, though.
You push.
The block shifts.
You push harder.
It shifts some more.
You scream as you shove your hands upward with all of your remaining energy. There’s a loud crumbling noise, a rush of dust that makes you cough and sneeze, and then your torso is free.
Moving the block on your legs is easier, though you’re far more drained than before. Throwing off the other concrete chunks, you stand up and start screaming Mark’s name again.
Time passes far too quickly and far too slowly as you stumble through the mess of rubble, hoarsely shouting for Mark. At some point, the shouts devolve into loud sobs and pleas and prayers to whatever god is listening to please, please help me find my best friend, I can’t live without him, I’m sorry for everything I thought about him these past few weeks, I love him and I want him back, please –
“Mark!” you scream, ready to sink to your knees with exhaustion. “Mark, please!”
You can’t live without him. You can’t. He pulls you from the earth when you get too jaded, softens your rough edges, smooths you into something beautiful that you wouldn’t be without him.
He can’t die.
“Y/N?”
It’s faint, but it’s there. You whip around in that direction, stepping lightly around the rubble to not bring more blocks down on him. “Mark?” you call.
“Here!”
You zero in on a pile of slightly moving blocks. With a chest nearly bursting with relief, you race over and start shoving them away. Slowly, Mark’s face becomes visible beneath a cloud of dust.
The sound of coughing never sounded more like a blessing in your entire life.
“Mark,” you sob, pulling your friend out of the mess. “Mark, holy fuck, I’m so sorry – I shouldn’t have yelled at you about pursuing this – I’m so fucking stupid, I thought you died –”
“Y/N,” he whispers hoarsely, wrapping his trembling arms around you. “Y/N, you’re here.”
He sounds so disbelieving, like he thought you were dead or dying. Maybe he still thinks that. It breaks your heart. “I’m here, Mark.” You bury your face in his shoulder. “I’m here.”
For several seconds, the two of you just sit there, exhausted, crying into each other’s necks. “I’m sorry,” Mark finally mumbles into your skin. “I shouldn’t have lied. I shouldn’t have pushed you away. I’m so sorry.”
You let out a choked laugh. “I’m sorry for overreacting. Sorry for yelling about you not wanting to continue – just fucking look where this got us.”
Mark pulls away. “No, don’t apologize for that.” He wipes his eyes, looking determined. “We’re alive. We’ve got Toomes.” You follow his gaze to an empty billboard just beyond the rubble. Metal wings, pressed together like a vulture’s, glimmer in the city lights. “We’re going to finish this.”
“You sure?” Not that you don’t want to. You’re itching to push that stupid scavenger off of a cliff, but you worry about Mark’s injuries. “You’re not hurt or anything?”
“No more than you.” Mark sets his jaw. “Let’s do this.”
You nod. “What was the last thing Toomes said? Something about Stark?”
Mark bites his lip. “Yeah. Something about telling Stark hello…” His eyes widen. “Isn’t Stark Industries moving a lot of stuff to the Avengers compound?”
Your heart stops. It’s all the news has been talking about for the past few weeks, how Stark is moving business to the Avengers headquarters. Stark Industries stock has been going nuts, apparently. You never remembered the exact date because you didn’t care, but…
“Today’s moving day,” you say grimly. You pat the pocket of your pants, surprised to see that your phone is still there in one piece. A quick text to Haechan tells him to track your phone, if he can.
Mark swallows, looking at the vulture glinting on the billboard. “Let’s go.”
. . . . .
The two of you stumble out of all the rubble just as the vulture is getting ready for takeoff.
A desperate shot of fluid and a leap gets Mark onto the billboard. Another string of webbing attaches him to one of the vulture wings. You stick yourself to the other.
Only pure instinct keeps Mark holding tight to the webbing, praying to the heavens that your synthetic webs will stay strong. He prays that you can hold on. He prays that Toomes won’t notice the two of you dragging along behind him as the webbing torturously swings him around. He forces himself not to look down, even as Toomes flies up higher and higher past skyscrapers and low-hanging clouds.
Mark looks over slightly, just to check on how you’re doing. Even in the dark, he can tell your eyes are squeezed completely shut, fingers gripping your string of webs as tightly as possible. Your lips are pressed together. Probably so you don’t scream.
Good idea. Mark shuts his mouth and looks ahead.
Then he sees the thing that Toomes is aiming for.
A huge jet looms ahead. To anyone down below, it would look like just like the passing clouds – there’s a sort of camouflage on it. But Mark’s close enough to see the outline of the plane, to notice the clear Stark seal on one wing.
His heart plummets even lower, if possible.
Then there’s no time to think because the vulture is landing and Mark is being bumped against the side of the plane and ow, this fucking hurts, this is such a mess –
A purple rectangle glows farther ahead on the belly of the jet. Mark registers you lashing out another string of webbing onto the plane as Toomes disappears into the glowing patch.
He’s inside the plane.
Mark starts sliding backward before he can fully process that thought. He thinks he hears you scream his name but he doesn’t have time to register it. His heart races as he scrabbles awkwardly on the underside of the plane until a lucky shot from his web shooter latches him into place.
And he doesn’t even have the time to take a fucking breath because Toomes is inside the plane and now he has to find a way to fuck around with the plane to take it down. The two of you are going to have to try to get the vulture’s attention.
Somehow, Mark finds himself splayed upside down on the bottom of plane. His palms stick to the jet – he’s never going to take being sticky for granted now – but his feet are scrambling. He finds a foothold in a tile or a bar or something and sighs in relief.
You yell something that’s garbled by the wind. “What?” Mark shouts.
“KICK!”
Without bothering to question you, he does.
His foothold disappears. Mark screams, curses, then steadies himself again. Why did you…?
Toomes climbs out of the purple patch, spitting mad.
Oh, fuck. Whatever his foothold was, it must have disappeared through the purple opening when he kicked it.
Well, it got the vulture’s attention, all right.
Wings shoot past Mark with blinding speed, nearly taking his scalp off. He ducks just in time, but when he lifts his head again, the vulture’s picked you up and is speeding off.
“NO!”
Mark raises an arm, not caring how precarious his position is, and shoots a web into the vulture’s wings.
It stops Toomes, especially after you shoot your own web onto one of the plane’s engines, causing his momentum to slam him backward into the plane right next to said engine.
And then you fly into the engine itself.
. . . . .
You can feel the engine literally trying to tear your clothes apart. One web keeps the engine far enough away that it stops trying to eat your skin, but you can still feel the pure heat and energy radiating off of it.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck –
With a loud cracking noise that you can hear above the whipping wind, the engine begins splitting off from the rest of the plane, nearly taking you with it.
Your anxious scrabbling rewards you with one hand on the edge of the plane, but the engine’s still trailing behind.
An idea springs into your mind. A plane is more likely to go down without an engine, and most of Stark’s planes don’t have human pilots.
If you can get the plane to crash…
Your legs slam down once, twice, three times, breaking the engine off completely. You haul yourself into a more stable position, ducking just in time for Toomes to come racing over your head.
Mark shouts something unintelligible. Vulture wings race over to attack him instead. You shoot webs wildly, trying to immobilize the wings, to hold you to the plane, to do something, anything.
One of the vulture wings sinks into the top of the plane.
“Those things were sharp?” you yell, unable to contain your thoughts anymore.
“The plane’s heading –” wind whistles as Mark shouts – “city!”
With wide eyes, you catch on. The plane is literally on course to crash into the buildings just off the beach.
Fuck fuck fuck how do we get it to land on the beach instead –
You lash out with another shot of web fluid, latching onto one of the plane’s wings. “PULL!” you shriek, motioning wildly for Mark to do the same.
Turn turn fucking turn PLEASE turn –
And somehow, as the jet plummets down so fast you can feel it scraping the tops of the roller coasters and buildings lining the beach’s pier, the two of you pull it off course enough to crash land on the empty beach.
You slam onto the sand. Your head throbs. Webbing is still attaching you to the plane.
Everything’s on fire. You can’t breathe. Slowly, with trembling fingers, you pull off your mask, beyond caring if Toomes sees who you are. He already knows Mark. At least he doesn’t know your name.
Air comes a bit easier then, even if the smoke finds a quicker path to your lungs too. Coughs rack your body and you turn to your side, trembling.
“God, what the fuck,” you mumble. Everything sounds muffled, like you’re underwater. Your sit up slowly. A small, dark lump swims into your vision.
Mark.
Something gets you to stand fully and start wobbling towards your best friend. By some fucking miracle, he starts to stir, sitting up just as you fall to the sand next to him.
There’s a second of silence.
Then vulture wings snap out and toss the two of you back into the air.
Toomes stands as you slam back into the sand, barely fazed, with a manic smile on his face. “Hey, Marcus and friends,” he sneers.
“Friends shouldn’t be plural,” you mumble. “I’m only one friend.”
Fast. He moves too fast. You barely lurch out of the way of his leap in time.
Toomes flies out of reach. Mark cries out, snapping out a string of webbing to bring him back to earth.
Mistake. Toomes lets the momentum bring him down.
And starts punching Mark in the face.
A guttural scream rips from your throat – literally rips, it feels like your throat has been torn apart and remade with blood and smoke and ash – and you launch into the air with some fucking hidden reservoir of strength fueled by pure rage to knock the metal-winged man over. Mark groans, rolling out of the way, only for the wings to pick him up again and take him to the sky.
And then he drops.
“MARK!”
You scramble under your best friend’s path, hands up as though you’re saying a prayer. Mark lands on you hard and maybe something snaps, but you don’t care because he’s breathing, his eyes are open, and he’s not dead.
But vulture man decides to play with you next. Before you can even blink, you’re being tossed up, landing hard between the sharp metal wings. He plucks you out of the air as you begin to fall and slams you back onto the earth.
Sharp pain claws through your chest and you just want to give up and lie down forever. But Mark is rolling away, somehow keeping out of reach of the winged man, and you pick yourself up so he doesn’t have to do it alone.
Two claw-like contraptions jet out from the engine on Toomes’s back, snagging both of you by your hoods. The neck of your hoodie digs into your throat.
Is this it?
Is he just gonna fuckin – you wheeze – fuckin watch us choke to death on fumes?
Apparently, he isn’t. He lets you go. You and Mark drop like stones.
“Pathetic.” Toomes stands over your bodies. You can’t see his face between his helmet and your blurred vision, but you know it must be twisted in that terrifying smirk. He takes off the helmet, laughs, and takes off, snatching up one of the less-battered boxes from the plane along the way.
That’s it.
You’ve failed.
You were too late.
You open your mouth to scream some fucking obscenities, but your voice dies when you hear the crackling. It’s not a good sort of crackling, like popcorn.
Electricity.
Mark raises his head and points. “He…” He coughs. “Going to explode.”
Blue sparks rise from the engine pack and shower off the metal wings, like a bizarre show of fireworks. And Mark, lovely selfless wonderful Mark, drags himself up and starts screaming.
“Wings!” he yells. “Your wing suit! Wing suit’s gonna explode!”
A jet of web fluid streaks from his shooter, pulling Toomes down. As Mark starts stumbling, Toomes pulling him along, you send out your own line of webbing. The two of you stand your ground with the last remnants of your strength.
“Time to go home, Marcus!” Toomes laughs wildly.
“I’M TRYING TO FUCKING SAVE YOU!” Mark screams. Tears streak down his face.
A sharp wingtip slices through your strings of webbing. You fall to the ground. From the sand, you can’t do anything but watch the disaster about to unfold.
It’s bizarrely beautiful. Purple-blue sparks rain down onto the beach, illuminating the sand and bits of the still ocean. Lightning arcs along the wings like a miniature, destructive storm.
Next to you, Mark tries to throw out more webbing. You can’t even find the energy to lift your arms. But his webbing misfires, lands on something else, flails in the air. It can’t reach Toomes, who’s now cackling wildly.
There’s an explosion. You’re thrown back further into the sand.
And then the vulture falls.
. . . . .
Mark knows how badly Toomes has hurt him. He knows how badly Toomes has hurt you. Cuts line his arms and face, there are bruises all over his body, and his head aches like it’s been smashed against a solid surface, which it has. You’re in at least the same condition, if not worse.
But he can’t just let the man die. He can stand trial, get life behind bars, but he can’t just die.
So from somewhere, he drags out a final burst of strength, and starts running through the fires to where the vulture fell. His feet fall unsteadily on the sand, but he keeps forcing them on.
Coughing sounds nearby. Mark looks over to see you following, head twisted to the side as you hack out cough after cough. He wants to tell you to go back and rest, but he knows you won’t.
Instead, he slows down for a second and takes your hand before forging on.
The wings have encased Toomes in a sort of shell. With your help, Mark shoves them off to get at the battered man lying beneath them. He grabs his chest. You grab his legs. Together, you carry him off to another part of the beach.
The three of you collapse, groaning and coughing and wheezing on the sand. Mark stares at the black night, stars invisible from light pollution.
Nothing feels real. The sand under his hands glitters ominously in the firelight. The ocean shimmers like a threat. Toomes hacks and coughs, each sound scarier than the last.
And then something warm, something dirty and rough and soft, lands on his hand. Your fingers curl around his palm and squeeze lightly.
Oh.
That feels real.
Your touch grounds him, keeps his thoughts from floating away and disappearing into the void of the sky. He wants more of it. He wants to pull you close, feel your body against his, real, solid, whole, keeping him planted on the earth. But he doesn’t have the strength to, so he just takes what he can from your warm touch.
Mark doesn’t know how long the three of you just lie on the sand. He does know that at some point, you and him gain enough strength to sit up and then stand. You look at Toomes, who stares back, unseeing.
“It’s over,” you mumble, almost staggering into Mark’s side. “We’re done.”
He nods. “Just one more thing.”
. . . . .
Pictures in newspaper articles show up the next day of Toomes, webbed up and immobilized against a still-standing box from the wreckage of Tony Stark’s plane. In most, the photographer has taken great care to keep the ragged note, stuck on Toomes’s forehead, clear in the frame.
The note is messy, written in trembling handwriting on the back of what looks like an inventory sheet. Black soot stains the page, but the writing is still visible.
FOUND: flying vulture dude trying to steal alien weapons and stuff
  - Spiderman and Silk (sorry about the plane)
You don’t care much for it. The day after homecoming is Saturday, which you spend curled up in your bed. At some point, after you’ve finally gained the strength to shower off all the grime and blood and sweat, Johnny makes a joke about how hard you must’ve gone that night. Thankfully, you don’t have many cuts on your face. They’re all hidden under layers of clothing. His eyes don’t linger too long on anything, so you feel a bit safer.
But, Jesus Christ, if only he knew.
By Monday, you feel refreshed enough to head back to school. Johnny doesn’t have an abnormally late shift that day, so you give him a hug before you leave. If it’s a little tighter than normal, he doesn’t say anything, just kisses your head and hugs you back.
You spot Lia in the hallway, pulling stuff out of her locker. Her eyes are puffy and red. Guilt rises in your stomach and threatens to swallow you whole.
Even though Toomes tried to kill you, he was still her father. And now that she knows what he’s done…
That can’t be easy.
“Lia,” you call, walking over cautiously. She turns her head and gives you a weak smile.
“Hey.”
“I…” You shuffle your feet. “I heard what happened. I’m really so sorry. I can’t imagine how you’re feeling right now.”
You are sorry. But Lia won’t take it in the way you mean. After all, she doesn’t know that you’re one of the two vigilantes who took her father down.
Lia’s smile turns bitter. “Yeah. Well, we’re moving to Oregon. Mom says it’s nice.” She rolls her eyes. “I think –” she chokes – “I think Dad doesn’t want us here during the trial.”
More guilt washes over your entire body. You can’t think of what to say.
“Look, I know we don’t know each other very well.” You swallow. “But if there’s ever anything I can do to help, please just know that you can reach out.”
Lia looks at you. Scrutinizes you through puffy, narrowed eyes. “You know, I really did think that the night of homecoming, you and Mark snuck off together.”
What?
“Oh my god, no.” You shake your head wildly. “No, no, no. That didn’t happen, I swear –”
Well, it kind of did. Just not in the way she thinks.
“Yeah, I know.” Lia smiles half-heartedly. “Mark already told me. He called, after. His aunt had an emergency, you were the only one he could reach out to in the moment…” She trails off.
It’s a lie. Obviously. You just nod, heart sinking.
“But yeah.” Lia looks at you steadily. “He’s a good guy.”
You nod, throat tight. “Yeah.”
“I thought he might’ve actually liked me, but…” She wipes her eyes. “It’s pretty clear who he really does.”
At that, your eyebrows furrow. “Lia, I promise you that he really did like you.”
“Maybe. Just not as much as he or I thought.” She gives you one last smile. “Take care of him.”
You really don’t have the mental energy to process everything behind that statement, so you just smile slightly. “I will.”
Lia reaches out for a hug. You accept. It isn’t super awkward, like you would’ve thought. She trembles slightly in your hold and you pat her back.
“Good luck,” you whisper.
She pulls away. “Thanks.”

Thanks for reading _______________________ Being a detective wasn´t always easy but you loved it, ever since Hank Voight received you on the Intelligence Unit you have been the happiest you could ever be with your career, it was a great honor.
Unfortunately, your boyfriend didn’t see it the same way, “it’s very dangerous” was Kelly’s favorite reason to constantly check up on you, at first it was nice, you even thought it was sweet but now it just made you want to roll your eyes, he was a fire fighter for god’s sake, it was as dangerous as your job but of course he wouldn’t accept it, in his eyes a fire was nothing compared to a bullet.
You loved him, you really did, but he needed to stop with all the overprotectiveness, you were trained to do your job, you could handle it and by now his constant calls were starting to be a problem, interrupting you at the worst possible moments because he had the perfect timing to call you when you were interrogating a suspect or working an undercover case.
The situation overall was making you very tense, especially because you could feel the penetrating look of your boss every time your phone ringed.
It was Tuesday morning and your week was getting already very difficult, a girl had been kidnapped and you knew time was the most important thing in this type of cases, the abduction had been reported barely 8 hours ago but you needed to hurry and so far you didn’t have any clues about her whereabouts.
While you were going over some papers regarding her parent’s statements a theory crossed your mind, his dad, a very important Chicago’s business man, had been preparing the inauguration of a new building, unfortunately he had to delay it because he realized the head of the construction team had been robbing him and just to be safe he fired everyone involved, leaving hundreds of persons without a job. It had to be one of them, angry for loosing their job and ready to take revenge.7
“I have something” you said out loud from your desk while standing up “Mr. Jackson said last night that he was with his lawyer while the abduction was taking place, that he had been receiving some anonymous threats but he never said why, right?”
“That’s right, he said that being as successful as him wasn’t something you achieved without making some people unhappy” commented Adam, now all eyes on you.
“Exactly, but if that’s so he has been receiving threats for years and nothing had ever happened, what changed now? The people he made unhappy this time” you could see the engines starting to spin in the team’s heads, how could you have not thought about this before? “In the past, all his victims were people like him, businessmen who ended up being con for trusting him too much, but at the end of the day, this people could live with their lost because they were rich anyway and they all had fancy lawyers to make something about it, but now he fired a bunch of construction employees, people who really needed the job to sustain their families, one of them probably snapped so all we need to do is find who can lose the most because of this”
After that, all happened in a blur, the time was running out and you needed to find the kidnapper before things got worse.
Couple hours later Jay had found a man whose daughter was sick and required a very expensive treatment, the money from the construction contract was going to be almost enough to cover most of it, for the size of the job, but after they all got fired, he hadn’t been able to find a job who could even come close to cover the medical expenses, the man was desperate and desperate people do desperate things.
You were on Jay’s car on the way to the suspect’s house when your phone started to ring, letting out a sigh you picked it up without even looking at the caller ID, you already knew who was.
“Hey babe, how are you?” said lovingly Kelly, even when it was seriously a bad moment his voice brought a smile to your face, Jay looked at you sideways from the driver side.
“Hi babe, everything’s fine but this is really not a good time, we’re on our way to catch our perp, call you later, okay? Bye, love you” you ended up before receiving an answer, you felt a little bad for being kinda rude but it needed to be done, it was a very important case, you couldn’t let yourself get distracted, the life of a little girl was on the line.
“Severide, huh?” mentioned Jay with a smirk on his face.
“Shut up, Halstead” you answer playfully while rolling your eyes “just drive.”
“Hey, I didn’t say anything” he said laughing a little bit, his eyes on the road ahead “I just think is kinda sweet he always worries about you”
“It is but he has this very rare talent that makes him call me when we are doing something important, it stresses me out every time it happens in front of Voight.”
“Have you talked with him?”
“With Voight? No way”
“No, not Voight, with Severide.”
“Oh, yes, multiple times and I insist that his job is as dangerous as mine but he just don’t see it, I really don’t know what else to do to prove him that I can handle myself on the job”
“Give him time, (Y/N), I guess is not easy to wrap your mind around the idea that the girl you love puts her life on the line everyday”
“I guess.. I just need him to believe in me as much as I believe in him” letting out another sigh you turn around to look out the window when you realize you’re almost at the suspect’s house.
“Are you ready?”
“Always am” finished Jay while parking in front of the house.
The possibility of the girl being there was slight but maybe you could fine the man to interrogate him or any other clue that could lead to her location.
As the team was reaching the door you heard a scream coming from the inside, everyone pulling their guns out and rushing to the entrance of the house as Voight started to yell instructions.
“Upton, Ruzek, back door, Atwater and Burgess, I want you searching the second floor the moment we got in, Halstead, (Y/L/N), with me”
“Stop!” Yelled a rough voice from the inside once you were on the porch “One step more and I’ll set the house on fire!”
“Listen to me, Jenkins, don’t do anything stupid, we just came here to talk” yelled Voight.
“Liar! I know why you’re here and let me tell you, you won’t find anything here”
“If that’s right then let us in and we can talk about it calmly”
“No, I don’t believe you! I won’t tell you where she is until you assure me that Jackson’s going to pay for my little girl’s treatment”
“I can’t do that, Jenkins, you need to give us the girl first” Voight tried to negotiate.
“No, I won’t. It’s too late now” he finished, raising tension over the whole team, that couldn’t be good.
As you were about to take down the door to get in, you heard an explosion, dropping to the ground you started to see the big flames coming from the top floors of the house and the strong smell of gasoline hit you all.
“5021 to central, send the fire department to North Hamlin 1100, now!”
5 minutes later the sirens of the fire department could be heard and Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3, Battalion 25 and Ambo 61 arrived at the scene yelling orders and getting ready to turn off the fire.
You saw Kelly the moment he got out of the truck, his eyes landing on you making sure you were okay, you were about to run to him when a sudden movement caught your eye, behind Kelly and his team, Jenkins appeared all dirty, coughing and raising a gun.
Your instinct kicked in and with a quick movement you fired your gun straight to his shoulder.
“Get down, get down!” You yelled as you saw him pushed trough the pain on his shoulder and started to shoot at the air while he tried to escape.
One look at your team and you all knew what to do, Burgess and Atwater started to check on the firefighters and putting them out of the reach of the bullets while the rest of you started chasing him, guns up and ready to taking him down.
Couple blocks down and he was forced to stop, out of breath, on the back of an ally, he was losing blood and he was in no condition to get away running.
“This is it, Jenkins, tell us where the girl is and everything will be easier for you” you said, slowly approaching him ready to fire your gun one more time in case it was needed.
“You are surrounded so drop the weapon and just come with us” complemented Jay from your left.
“Come on, let’s get you to a hospital, cooperate with us and we’ll talk to the D.A.”
He was tired, you could see it in his eyes, he just wasn’t made for this, desperation made him do it and quite honestly, you felt bad for him, he wasn’t a bad man, he just had made one bad decision.
“Okay, I’ll tell you where she is but you have to promise me that they’ll take care of my daughter’s treatment, once I see something signed by Jackson saying that he’ll be responsible for it, I’ll tell you where to find her” said dropping the gun to the ground and raising his good arm.
You grabbed the gun as evidence while Adam got him from behind, putting his arms behind him and taking him to ambulance 61, his rights being read.
When you all got back to his house, there was no more fire and everyone was putting their equipment away.
You passed the evidence to Hailey, putting your own gun away and ran a hand through your hair before going straight to Kelly, it had been a long day full of emotions and you were getting so tired.
One look into your eyes and he was already opening his arms for you, you buried your head in his chest, breathing slowly to try to calm down your quick heartbeats, adrenaline leaving you as fast as it had come.
“I’m sorry for being rude earlier, hanging up the phone to you and all that” you said, you voice sounding muffled.
“It’s okay, babe, sometimes I forget how badass you are and I’m sorry too. You are busy saving lives and all I do is interrupt you” his arms gripping you tighter, never wanting to let you go.
“No, it’s fine, really. I love you and I get it, I worry about you too” taking a step back you take your time to look at him, his gorgeous eyes hypnotizing you and bringing a smile to your face, you couldn’t believe the man in front of you was all yours, he was strong, handsome, kind and above all so brave, it made your heart skip a beat and your breathing got caught up in your throat.
“Ha! I’m sure not as much as I do but I see it now, you are fucking good at your job, what you just did was so brave and a little bit hot, if I may say” he added winking you an eye and making you laugh a little bit, even after several months of relationship he kept flirting with you.
“I told you I can handle it” you said, flashing him a cocky smirk before you reached up and wrapped your arms around his neck to brought him down to kiss him, no more words needed.
