With q!Cellbit and q!Bagi, I always love it when people design them as opposites to each other. I mean they already got the inverse hair color streaks going on in canon, why not incorporate that everywhere else? Cellbit wears black nail polish? Well Bagi only wears white. Bagi runs cold and wears her long coat in the summer? Cellbit runs hot and is seen without his jacket in the winter. One of them has sharper upper canines? Well would you look at that, the other’s teeth are deadlier on the bottom row. Y’know, stuff that shows that they have a deep connection but also inherently opposed each other as well.

Makes it seem like the people that AFO just killed had maybe beat him up. Of course, AFO is taking their metapowers away too, but it’s an interesting catch. And, yes, Yoichi is wearing fitted clothes while AFO walks around with something just wrapped around him.

You know how Yoichi still believed there was good in his brother because of the kindness of his “hand”?

Well, in case you missed it…

They were born apart with their hands already reaching out to each other. They are on their backs right now, so those are the same hands that are holding/being held.

This means…

AFO grabbed Yoichi and dragged him with him. What you’re seeing in that top panel is the water starting to overflow the river and rush past. AFO pulled Yoichi out of the water and on to their mother. He is also using the spike quirk for teeth and on his hand to grab onto their mother and pull them up. The bottom left panel is him biting into her dress as he pulls them out of the danger of the water. Yes, AFO saved Yoichi when they were fucking newborns. THIS is what Yoichi has a faint memory of. That was the kindness.

I know some people have been wondering if they’re fraternal or identical. This seems to suggest that they are in fact sharing the same umbilical cord. It’s rare for fraternal twins to have this. It’s crazy to think that Yoichi may have looked just like AFO if he had the same amount of nutrients. But I digress…

A very notable thing about AFO’s eyes: they are huge and creepy in feral/survivor mode. We’ve seen his eyes get like this as AFOTomura and when he goes into rage mode against All Might and now Bakugo.

Here, he is quite literally just walking down the street past the anti-meta people and presumably just heard them talk about killing metas. Once they take notice of him, he turns his head towards them and his eyes are huge like a startled animal.

He then proceeds to kill them and still has that feral look.

But now let me get to something pretty important…

Once he has a dream of everyone living for his sake, like Yoichi, he is finally smiling. And continues to do so after this point.

Something really bothering me is that they must have named themselves including their surname. Shigaraki means “death tree” which fits in nicely as they were born “from death”. However, where did Yoichi get his name? AFO must have named him and Yoichi can mean “first gift”. So he named him that because Yoichi was QUITE LITERALLY the first thing AFO ever had. As for AFO…I don’t know if he would take the time to name himself. Yoichi only calls him big brother so he may have told Yoichi to just keep calling him that then decided to name himself after the Quirk he also named himself: All for One. Dude is really committed to the bit.

There’s one more thing I haven’t seen anyone touch on yet…

The hatred.

As you probably recall, Hawks has a talk with Best Jeanist over AFO’s lack of emotions and lack of hate. Why he has to use Tomura to get OFA.

406 explained why that is perfectly.

When he feels hatred, he is forced to remember WHEN HE WAS TOLD HE KILLED HIS BROTHER HOLY SHIT. It would also be possibly the first and only time he ever cried. Felt real grief. So, he never “feels” REAL hatred because that would mean having to confront this memory.

Tsumiki went into her year and 7 month long coma when megumi was 13-14 years old meaning tsumiki missed her sweet 16 :( (she’s a year older than him)

Toji was a good dad in the end (both times) bc he was already dead and told Gojo to take Megumi as a F u/later fix the alliance’s of the clans and to make sure that Megumi would be protected, fed, housed, and taught sorcery bc toji damn well couldn’t much less protect his kids from curses anyhow.

Noaya (and the men of the Zenin clan) abused Mai and maki bc they’re women (implied SA) noaya hinted at asking to beats em up like he used to (could be implied bc he called them hot & Mai has the same face) but he was also possibly teasing since Mai just 💀 but there’s no way he could have known that

It’s worse to be a male Zenin with no cursed energy bc then you’d be absolutely powerless, useless, worthless, etc. no other clan woman would want you and your fam would never coughed for you much less protect you bc why do they have to you were born a Zenin and yet…

So we know Kokichi Toji Mai n maki all were hit with HR but it was just a double whammy to also be twins? Yes. HR hit Toji so hard bc he was the first to be without cursed energy but then Nanako and Mimiko, bc they’re fraternal twins that that’s possible they’re able to both have CE?

aelor and aelora headcanons?

Sure thing! I’ll see what I have but be warned- I don’t really have that much on them 💀

-I think in canon they’re supposed to be identical twins, but tbh.. I think it’d be more funny if they’re actually fraternal twins cause that would make their weird attachment to one another even weirder. Like. Y’all aren’t the same person….. They do look really similar to one another, but they’re just different enough that they wouldn’t be able to get away with disguising themselves as one another Jamie-Cersei style

- The main difference is hair texture, Aelor’s is straight and wispy like Rhaegel’s while Aelora has Alys’ curls, but they also have different eye shapes/minutely different colours, and their nose shapes are slightly different

- Back on them getting that unhealthy attachment to one another thing tho, I think it absolutely started early on because they so desperately wanted to be like one another that they’d start acting like each other despite their differences in personality. In my mind, Aelor was more shy and liked learning about plants and animals, while Aelora was really social and had a genuine interest in politics and court life

(And sure I could make Aelora the shy one out of the two but idk, I like to think she was really extroverted before because it makes the change in personality after Aelor dies all the more jarring. He gets fridged for her character development aka her spiral into madness <3)

- Given that they were sort of raised without a lot of normalized incest around them though, I think they really didn’t know what to do about their weird need to be so much like the other until they actually started to learn history, they kinda took one read of the start of Jaehaerys and Alysanne’s story, went “omg they’re just like us for real” and refused to read beyond them getting married and (supposedly) living happily ever after

- Rhaegel was probably the one to give their relationship the official stamp of approval, no thoughts about negative repercussions in that man’s head just vibes <3

- Alys absolutely didn’t fuck with her kids wanting to get married but pretended like she was okay with it because she didn’t get much of a say at all

- Still don’t know what the accident that killed Aelor was…. Think it did say it was something grotesque, so….. idk, maybe they were trying to sneak out of the red keep and the rope they made snapped while Aelor was climbing down and he.. broke his neck, ig? He could’ve also been impaled on spikes. Idk, trying to make it as grotesque and accidental as possible here

“Oh my days, that's wonderful!!”

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”

Dr. Slater had been your OB/GYN for nearly ten years, and delivered Nyla, but this disparity between your and Steven’s reactions was the first time you’d ever rendered him speechless. “I, um…I’ll give you two a moment.”

You stared at the ultrasound machine’s screen in shock, while Steven gazed upon it in awe. The word kept ringing in your ears. Twins.

“Blimey, do you reckon they’re fraternal or identical? It’s a good thing we sprung for the larger place after all, innit…oh my goodness, just wait until we tell Nyla there are two babies in your tummy! Her little mind will be blown, right darling? Darling…”

You couldn’t imagine Nyla’s reaction to the news, because currently, it was your little mind that was blown. Twins. Two more mouths to feed, two more school tuitions, two more little bodies to push out of you. Simultaneously.

“You alright, darling?”

“We’re going to be outnumbered.”

“Nothing we can’t handle…hey,” Steven sat himself on the ledge of the examination bed and put his hand on your arm. “What’s wrong?”

You shook your head back and forth, and when you spoke, your voice was thick with tears. “I don't think I can do this.”

Sobs promptly followed after your admission, and Steven gathered you into his arms right away.  “Hey, hey no…it’s going to be grand, okay? Awww sweetheart, seeing you like this is breaking my heart.”

“It’s just…it’s a lot to take in, and it’s not what we planned!! We have to double everything and it’s all going to be happening at once and what if–” you paused to heave and hyperventilate, pulling much-needed oxygen into your lungs, “ –what if I can’t handle it?”

“Shhhhhh, you’re going to be brilliant,” he assured you, then pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “Besides this isn’t your first curveball now, is it? What with Nyla being a surprise, not to mention your ex-avatar husband having D.I.D and the like.”

“I’m juh…I’m just scared!” you wailed.

“It’s alright to be scared,” Steven didn’t hesitate in validating you. “But darling, you’re not going to be doing this alone.”

“I know, but I have to do the hard bit,” you pointed out plaintively, using Steven’s self-coined jaunty term for the burden of motherhood.

“That’s true, but even so, we’re all going to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. You have us, and your parents – we wanted to ask them to come out earlier anyway pre-due date– then there’s Charlotte and Harry, Doctor Slater, we can even book Pippa again too so she'll start right away if you’re worried about latching. Everyone wants to help you, my love. ”

It was moments like this you remembered exactly why you married your husband. The sobs wracking your body prevented you from articulating your gratitude, so instead you burrowed into his chest, likely rubbing some of your makeup onto his shirt and definitely smearing ultrasound gel across his trousers.

“Esto es una bendición,” you heard Jake murmur, “We’ve both been through so much more, so much worse than this, nena. Today is a good day, and I won’t let you think any differently.”

“I’m processing, Jake.”

“Yo sé,” he acknowledged, “but I’m also not going to let you spiral, bien?”

“I don’t spiral.”

Jake snorted in disbelief. You pulled back to look him in the eye, a challenge. He met your questioning gaze with a single arched brow that told you he wasn't buying it.

“Well this is something that I’m allowed to spiral about,” you defended yourself, only to realize mid-argument, “oh God. I’m going to be huge.”

“You won’t have to lift a finger. I’ll carry you everywhere,” he offered. The impracticality of his solution made you giggle. Jake rejoiced at his ability to get a rise out of you, “Ay, ahí está ella.”

“Gracias Papi,” you could feel yourself drifting back down into the land of rational thought, until you remembered who was missing, and your stomach became a lead balloon.

“Que ocurre?”

“Is Marc…what’s he doing? God, if I’m freaking out then he must be completely–”

“We’ll figure it out,” your husband interrupted you in his midwest-tinged American accent. “We always do.”

“Do you regret trying for another?” you asked him.

“No baby,” Marc denied instantly, pulling you close to him again. “Do you?”

“No…but this is a lot. It’s a lot,” you confessed.

“I know, and thankfully, they’re not coming tomorrow. So we have time, okay? Honey, you’ve been my rock through so much, it’s time for you to let us be yours now, deal?”

You sniffled, then agreed, “Okay.”

Marc’s sure fingers began to stroke through your hair. You luxuriated in his touch, your heart rate finally descending to a somewhat normal pace.  

A knock on the door fractured the quiet moment you and your husband had found. You two sprang apart, Marc lunged for the counter to grab you a tissue, while you wiped your eyes and nose in a totally futile effort to hide the fact you’d been crying.

“Come in!” you called. Doctor Slater had seen worse, after all.

The doctor did just that, closed the door behind him, and only after he resumed his seat did he begin with “I owe you two an apology.”

Fuck, you thought. There was something wrong. You gripped Marc’s hand for dear life waiting for the ax to drop.

“I hope this isn’t too much of an inconvenience, but we need to do the ultrasound again. I just found out that this is broken,” he revealed, gesturing to the machine next to him, still broadcasting the image of your two unborn children. “There’s a lag on the image, which means I’m not so sure you’re having twins after all.”

Thank goddess you were already sitting down, because otherwise you would’ve fainted, straight up. You did swoon however, and both Marc and Doctor Slater reached for you.

“I am so unbelievably sorry for the bait-and-switch,” he apologized further, “your body is undergoing enough. I’m ninety-five percent sure there’s only one baby in there, so if you can swing it diary-wise, we’ll move next door and confirm it.”

You wanted to say “Sounds good, doc”, but what came out was “I’m going to throw up.”

Your declaration sent your husband scurrying to grab the little room waste bin for you.

“I can’t tell you how sorry I am. There’s going to be a firm talking-to between me and my staff once I’ve sent you home.”

“It’s okay,” you exhaled, unsure of who you were trying to comfort more, Doctor Slater or yourself. “It’s all good. When will the new room be ready?”

“It should be ready now,” he told you.

“Does she have to move?” your husband asked, his voice revealing that Steven was fronting again. “You’ve had quite the shock just now.”

“I’m okay honey, just help me up,” you assuaged him. You were barely ten weeks along which meant there was no bump to contend with yet, but given the emotional rollercoaster of the past twenty minutes, you wanted your husband to steady you.  

“You sure you’re alright?” Doctor Slater asked. “We can get you a wheelchair.”

You shook your head to dismiss the notion and arranged yourself to dismount from the examination table. “No need, but it’s times like these I’d give anything for a drink, you know?”

Both men burst out laughing at your admission and you proceeded next door to the functional ultrasound machine.  

*** On the ride home you asked Steven, “Are you disappointed there’s only one baby in there after all?”

“Not at all darling,” he instantly averred.

“I won’t be cross if you are. Even just a little.”

Your husband studied you to determine whether your question was a trap. After a long, careful pause, he at last spoke, “Maybe a little disappointed. But I’m over the moon either way.”

“I think it’s sweet how excited you were. You didn't miss a beat, while I went and had a proper meltdown,” you chuckled. “We’re going to have to start thinking of boy names.”

“Ooh yes,” Steven concurred, “I actually had an idea earlier, how do you like–”

“No names of famous anthropologists Steven,” you knew exactly where he was going with this.

He deflated a little, then tried again, “Alright what about–”

“Or archeologists, or anyone in the social sciences, okay?” If Steven had gotten his way with Nyla, your daughter would have been named Hortense or some other incredibly outdated name to honor a dead scholar. “The names have to be personal to both of us.”

Steven harrumphed and even though he didn’t say anything else, you knew this wasn't the end of the conversation.  

“I want to…I’d like to include Ro–um, Randall’s name somehow.”

You took Marc’s hand at once. “Baby yes, that’d be great. Definitely adding Randall to the list.”

“I am happy, you know, that we’re having another,” he told you softly.

Your cheeks burned with shame, “I know, I’m sorry I panicked -- I wasn’t thinking.”

on the backend of things i’ve used mela for a mareach kid for a few years but it’s only this year when i was actually like. designing her that i was like ‘they should have twins. something something runs in the family (on my dad’s side of the family his mom had twins and the twins also had twins) something something legendary star twin having twins’ so i trialed a few names (mainly arancia) before i settled on pera! :^)

i’ve been having the time of my life this semester (/s) so i really haven’t developed them very much unfortunately :( but that’s what asks are for! (so please send more if you’re curious!)

this is getting long so here’s a post cut

mela is the more excitable twin and comes up with a lot of ideas, but as they grew up she defaults more to pera to lead because she tends to execute them better and think of details mela would miss

though as kids pera would go along with whatever mela suggested bc she thought it was fun ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (mela was the one who proposed playing with fire, pera would probably just say ‘lets do it outside’)

i think they fully developed their own ‘firebrand’ around 3-4! but there were signs beforehand, like mela sneezing smoke as a baby and having a higher normal body temperature than pera

(but peach’s magic is so strong there was little doubt that her children would inherit her abilities, and they do end up doing so to some degree! fire just manifested early)

in terms of them as babies, they were definitely a handful but overall ‘good’ babies

once pera knew how to walk tho it was a wrap

very adventurous and loves pursuing knowledge no matter what it takes (nosy and persistent) meanwhile mela has that same curiosity but doesn’t really know what she wants. the happy hobby pursuer

we know mario has experience with younger children and babies (mallow, goombario if you squint a little, watt, yoshi kid, himself (PiT moment), olivia) and peach likely doesn’t have nearly as much but it’s still a different ball game when it’s your kid and two of them and being prince consort(? king? in my head he stayed prince consort but i like @istadris ‘s thing) but he does have a huge community so they do end up well traveled/being cared for and spoiled by many of mario’s companions, and especially so by luigi, peasley, and daisy

back to them being more grown up

mela is the oldest (and as such wears warm-reddish colors in accordance with my headcanon of mushroom world sibling pairs) so technically she’s first in line for the throne, but she doesn’t have as much of an interest in it and believes pera would be a better choice. pera (wears green tones) to her credit does show more interest so they may forgo tradition once more when the time comes but joint ruling was never out of the question

but they don’t have to worry about that for quite a while (but i think peach would do well to make sure both are prepared regardless because of her own experience)

as a pair they aren’t as joined together at the hip as mario and luigi were/are mostly because they didn’t grow up in an environment where mela or pera absolutely needed to protect the other (nor were they ever forcibly separated like the bros were in yoshis island) but they absolutely love each other and would be friends if they weren’t sisters

when they were little tho they were obviously fraternal and always wanted to look identical so they mostly dressed the same until they got to be maybe around 6-8? wide range ik but yeah

but i’m not entirely sure what the situation with bowser is like when they’re growing up but it isn’t as volatile as it currently is. the @justcallmerosey post with clementine giving me ideas tho👀

Tips for writing trans characters from someone who was afraid of writing them wrong:

Write their narrative in a way that makes sense for the characters.

For example, my character Dex Dieunarrah discovered he was trans very early in life (after entering kindergarten). This makes sense for his character because he is someone who knows what he wants and doesn’t stop in pursuit of it. He knows who he is and is extremely self-confident. So it makes sense that he knows he’s trans early on in life.

My character Currant Numerfein’s story revolves around how much her life changed after a traumatic family accident when she was young, and revolves around self-discovery and free will. She discovers more about herself and family history through others. So Dex was the one who explained what his experience with gender dysphoria was like and why he socially transitioned when he was younger. Currant decides to give it a try, and finds she much prefers living as a girl instead of a boy. So she sticks with it. It also affects her brother Leno, who is having difficulty moving on with the trauma but loves his sister anyway, despite how much he wishes to return to the past. Furthermore, after noticing how much happier his sister is now that she’s socially transitioned, it helps him realize that the past was actually worse for the people he cares for. I would also like to add that Currant does face a lot of transphobia throughout the story, and biphobia as well since she is also bisexual, which is a major part of her story as she fights to have the freedom to choose for herself in her life instead of allowing others to choose for her.

Another tip is to not bring too much attention to the trans-ness of a character unless it fits in with the narrative.

Such is the case with Ghost Long. He discovered he was trans relatively early on in life too, but he’s a character from a completely different culture as well (one completely fictional btw). He’s been around trans people his entire life, because he lives in a culture that is extremely accepting of a lot of things, and where gender identity is explored very early on for children and it is encouraged that you try out different things at a young age. So of course it makes sense he knew he was trans since he was little. When he decided to socially transition, his parents didn’t even bat an eye. They just said they would accept him and moved on with their lives. A major part of his character is the massive culture shock when he arrives on Earth, because it’s so different from where he’s from.

Then there’s D’Ghala Kanabo, a genderfluid alien who knows who they are, but hides it constantly until they finally feel comfortable around the main cast and embrace their full identity, including their quirks and bad parts of their history. It’s a major part of their character, since they try to hide their kind’s history and pretend it never existed and a huge part of their character is learning to accept that part of their heritage.

The final trans character I want to mention is Squid Fisk. They’re nonbinary, and absolutely refuse to elaborate on what they were identified as at birth. It’s no one’s concern. They already know they’re nonbinary when the reader meets them, and the reader never finds out their sex. Because it doesn’t matter. Their character struggles with trauma and depression, but their past remains mostly a mystery to everyone but their fraternal twin brother Pallet. No one else learns of this, because they deem it unimportant as they attempt to move on from the past at every turn and accept that what was will never be again.

With those three characters, they’re mentioned to be trans and the narrative brings that to a focal point only when necessary, such as when D’Ghala breaks away from their toxic ex-friend group and proudly expresses that they’re genderfluid because now they’re no longer tied down to the expectations had on them by others.

Sometimes you don’t need to write in how a character figured out their gender identity. You can just have them start off that way and never explain it, but give hints here and there. Sometimes you can write about a character discovering that they’re trans. Just remember that the story should fit the character. Don’t force the representation. Make it make sense to the character that you are writing.

Statute of Limitations (Immortals AU)

Wrote 800 words for an AU that’s been rotating in my brain for over a year that I still haven’t written, but I’m posting this anyway because I do what I want.

AU context, sparknotes edition: Ingo couldn’t get sent back directly to the future for timey-wimey reasons and spent 140 years immortal, chilling in the Coronet Highlands. Accidentally befriended/tamed/domesticated the feral cat of a man we know as Volo (also immortal) while he was waiting to catch up to the future and his twin. Now the Nimbasa trio has been reunited for over a year and Volo is the twins’ weird roommate and Elesa’s bitchiest bestie.

“Hang on,” Elesa says one night, as they’re sitting around the twins’ living room eating Sinnoh takeout, two and a half hours and two-thirds of the way into an hour-long documentary on Hisui. They keep pausing to give Ingo and Volo the chance to expound on whatever topic the documentary didn’t have the time or information to elaborate on themselves; Ingo’s infodumping is familiar and comforting, while Volo’s is a bit of a surprise but hilariously bitchy. Even when the documentary gets things right. “Volo—you consulted on this? Historically?”

“That makes it sound like I did so fifty years ago,” Volo sniffs. “I was a historical consultant on the topic. Mostly by mail; by the time they were making this, Cynthia was a little too popular for me to go wandering around Sinnoh without a good excuse for looking like her fraternal twin.”

So, yes, but in fifty words instead of one. Cool. “You like… you got paid money for this? Is this your job?”

Volo makes an dismissive sound. “Yes, I got paid for it, but it’s not exactly reliable work, nor does it pay greatly. As a historian, the best money is in research grants, but those are a little hard to get a hold of without extensive history at a university, and my need to shuffle identities every decade or so did clash with the need to accumulate that sort of history.”

“…So, yes but no?”

Volo rolls his eyes at her. “Yes, but no.”

Elesa mulls over that. She doesn’t unpause the documentary just yet, because there’s a niggling question in her brain now—

“Do you have a job?” Emmet asks before she can. “You’re here a lot.”

Volo huffs, deciding to take offense in that catty way of his, so Elesa jumps in before letting him answer: “Dude, you’re clearly loaded, I have never once heard you say a thing about hopping back and forth between here and Sinnoh and plane tickets aren’t cheap. Frankly, neither is this apartment, and I’d be surprised if you’re just letting the twins pay for it all.”

Volo regards her shrewdly for a moment, then hums as his eyes slide away. “Don’t worry about it.”

That is the least satisfying answer on the planet. She and Emmet immediately turn to Ingo for answers.

“I do not worry about it,” Ingo says immediately.

Elesa and Emmet’s eyes meet. Weird, suspicious emphasis with no real answer. Hmmm.

“I am Emmet. Are we harboring a fucking criminal?” Emmet demands.

Volo sputters. “I beg your pardon? That’s your first assumption?”

“That’s not an answer,” Elesa points out, entertained. “He’s only going to get more suspicious the more you avoid giving one.”

“And you, of course, are virtuously on my side,” Volo mutters bitchily. “The disrespect! And here I thought we had something. A camaraderie, if you will—”

“It’s not like you’re a poacher, Ingo would worry about it a whole lot if that were the case,” Elesa interrupts him. “I can’t really imagine you beating someone up—”

“I can,” Emmet says.

“—without going full-on crazy eyes,” Elesa corrects herself. “So this hypothetical crime you may have committed and have definitely not denied committing is probably, y’know. Petty. Which fits, because you are a petty, petty bitch!”

“I,” Volo says with dignity, “am the classiest bitch any of you will ever meet.”

“I am the classiest bitch in this room, but nice try.”

“You’re all cutting-edge fashion and avant-garde, that’s not the same thing as class.”

Elesa gasps loudly in overblown offense. “You take that back!”

“Ladies, you are both pretty,” Emmet intones. “Ingo. Has Volo committed crimes? Yes or no.”

Ingo pinches the bridge of his nose. “He doesn’t have a valid birth certificate and yet has had a functional passport for decades despite being stuck at twenty-seven. Of course he’s committed crimes, we knew that already.”

“I am Emmet. I meant for money.”

Ingo shrugs and reaches for a new can of soda. “Well, that’s none of my business.”

“Ingo.”

“Look,” Volo sighs, “can any of you truthfully tell me that you’ve never talked to a particularly out-of-touch gentleman whose lone battling Pokémon is holding a useless nugget of gold worth more than everything you have on your person and thought, you know, I bet I have an island somewhere that I could sell this moron?”

There’s a beat of silence. Emmet snorts. Ingo puts a hand over his face that doesn’t hide the amused curl to the corner of his mouth.

Elesa cackles. “Oh dragons, you scam rich people for a living? I need to hear about this right now immediately. Story time! Funniest scam you’ve done, let’s go.”

“Accusing me of being a scam artist now?” Volo snips facetiously, but he’s smirking. “I will confess to nothing. …At least, not until I have the chance to check the statute of limitations for a few things.”

Headcanon Review: Trans Vergil

Hello everybody. Welcome to the Hoard.

Today marks a new segment to my blog, Headcanon Review, which is sort of like Headcanon Theatre, but instead of me going over my own headcanons I’m giving my thoughts on popular headcanons in my various fandoms. And we’re starting off with a bang.

So, Vergil being transmasc. What do I think of it? Beautiful! Five Stars! Peak! But. I don’t think very many people think about the full implications of Vergil being transmasc. Ahem.

Implication #1: Dante is also transmasc. (Or else fem or afab nonbinary, but for the sake of the poor hamster running the brain hamster wheel I will only refer to Transmasc Dante for the rest of the post. You my put your own thoughts on Fem and NB Dante in the tags.) Well, I guess you could change it so they’re fraternal rather than identical, but where’s the fun in that? We can have more than one Transmasc boy in the Sparda Clan! (Sneakily slides in Transmasc Nero for peak Family Bonding.)

Implication #2 (tied into Implication #1): Depending on how old they were when they had their Trans realization, These two dorks named themselves as a literary reference! Come on, that is twin wholesomeness and comedy gold right there.

Implication #3 (again tied into #1): These two idiots most likely did their own top surgeries. Double most likely with their own swords. Bonus points for Vergil judging Dante for it only to have Dante immediately turn it back around on him and tease him relentlessly for the hypocrisy.

Implication #4 (and likely the biggest one here from a fic writing standpoint): Vergil would have been the one pregnant with Nero (a popular headcanon on it’s own and thus will also be getting my thoughts on it here). Guys, from what I’ve observed of Vergil’s reaction to finding out Nero is his son, I don’t think most of what went down in the series would have gone down the same way if Vergil knew about Nero from the start, and he definitely would if he was the one carrying Nero. Temen-ni-gru might have happened, but I don’t think Vergil would have fallen into hell, at least not without telling Dante where Nero was. And Vergil sure as hell wouldn’t have willingly left Nero in Fortuna. So yeah, more Momgil staying in the human world to raise Nero with Uncle Dante please.

Soooooo, you said you wanted people to message you about blorbos and AUs! But I also saw that you were saying that you didn't have any AUs yet!

IF you could make one appear out of thin air, what kind of things would you like in an AU? Are you more interested in completely changing the universe the blorbos are in? Or do you like switching up the dynamic? Keep them actual born-together twins or make them bonded some other way? Change their history (not that we know that much anyway), or alter their future?

Okay well that’s actually complicated tbh! It’s not that I… don’t have aus, I guess. I just think there’s not enough happening in them, or too much indulgence happening in them, or they are for the wrong audience if I’m posting here (there are other ships I like, too, but this blog is for a specific purpose).

I like all kinds of aus, but I do usually like emmet and ingo as being blood related, because with how much they look alike I find it difficult to believe they’re not. Like what are the odds you find someone with your exact facial structure, eyes, hair color, etc. and they’re completely genetically separate from you?

That being said I do kind of like aus where they’re maybe not identical twins. Such as fraternal twins aus (I like when one or both of them is trans because I’m trans and it makes me feel good). The fem ingo doodles I made actually stemmed from that brain bug. He’s pre-transition. And I like transfem emmet a lot too…. She,,,

I like aus where one or the other is like actually older/younger, too. Genetics in Pokémon are wild if PLA is anything to go by lmao so it still makes sense to me that they look similar even if they aren’t twins.

I like separated at birth aus as well I just think it’s really funny if they meet and somehow are the only people that cant tell immediately that they’re related and start dating only for people to be like hey? guys. Look in a mirror.

Oh I also like aus that aren’t necessarily in the Pokémon universe. I love their Pokémon teams and all but it’s not center stage for me, I like just focusing on the Them, yknow?

More Liliana Facts:

She is the third eldest of eight siblings, all sisters.  She and the eldest sibling are both trans.  There are also two sets of twins, one fraternal and one identical.  The identical twins are the youngest and have a weirdly codependent relationship the family doesn’t really talk about.

They are very old money, and old titled nobility, having ties to the previous count and to other aristocracy throughout the world.  They’re a little bit inbred for it, but since dad was relatively new blood in the line, the siblings all came out mostly alright apart from some “eccentricities.”

The family is much less self-enlightened in their interests than Evander, and are still caught up in titles, manners, and appearance, but they don’t tend to be overtly horrid about it, and are relatively more easygoing than some of Vesuvia’s elite.  (They think poorly of Lucio, a tacky upstart, and very well of Nadia, a well-raised princess.  They have no qualms with her Pakran roots.)

The eldest sibling is currently the head of household and is like all of them tends to baby Liliana a bit.  Liliana generally puts up with it and finds her own fun outside the house.

Liliana generally lives on the family estate, although she also has an apartment in the Center City where she frequently can be found.

Said eldest sibling is also a bit butch and is very financially shrewd - she has everything set up such that her sisters should never want and can pursue whatever they want within reason.

The family lost a few siblings and their mother to the plague.  Liliana and the elder set of twins avoided it entirely as they were studying abroad together at the time.  They received a desperate missive from their eldest sister not to return to Vesuvius until she was able to give them an all clear - it was a very emotionally tense time for everyone.

The eye injury wasn’t her fault and was a random freak accident, but it still does look pretty grim even all healed up.  She no longer has an eye on that side and what remains is a little too messed up for a prosthetic.  A rotten fence post fell on her when she was about six, and had a protrusion that hit her exactly in the wrong place.  She’s lucky to have not gotten brain damage from it penetrating any further into her skull.  She has no depth perception but is otherwise fine (apart from the event having made her a very overly cautious and slightly nervous child - which she outgrew.  It does mean her family still sees her that way sometimes.)

Her family means well but is rather insensitive about the whole thing in a roundabout way (treating it as if it is some great calamity that makes her unable to wed as a suitable match in Vesuvia’s nobility.)  Knowing Evander has helped her to be more confident in ignoring them or brushing it off. 

It’s just as well - she really doesn’t have any interest in marrying (being aromantic) so it’s as good an excuse as any to keep things that way.  (Also at this point enough of the girls in the family are well married off in ‘good’ matches with various children so that those that aren’t hitched have little pressure left to do so.)

Liliana has always been rather demure and very femme, as early as she could understand things she’s been a girl (and this being Vesuvia, this has not been a problem in the slightest, anything transition related has been smooth for her.)

She and Antony have been friends for many years and enjoy working scenes together and occasionally meeting for coffee and conversation, although their relationship goes no deeper than that.  (The class gap overcome with “oh, poor Liliana has to find friends where she can, you know.”  Also his family is one of the major ones feeding Vesuvia so there is that.)

Her entry into Vesuvia’s kink scene was deliberate and well thought out, and she pretty well knew what she was looking for early in, heading to some of the most beautiful and exclusive of Vesuvia’s whore houses to test the waters.

She is very well read and educated, speaks about a dozen languages and has about six degrees.  Her own interests are continual personal pursuit of education, and since she’ll never have to work - she spends a lot of time studying various things, basically whatever catches her interest at the moment, from science to art to history to math.

As of the events of ‘The Arcana’ she is in her late 30s.

My brain has been going Slugcat, so why not mash my current fixation and my revived fixation? Rain World × Talebr crossover!

I've currently only got the Achechalla Family down (butchered the name) so I might send another one for PIE and Misc. Characters

Papa (Gourmand) - chonk! Since his children have black hair, I'm assuming that his hair was black (before he went bald), so he's a black Gourmand.

Gertrude (Rivulet) - how a blue cat became orange and non of her children got her ginger, no-one knows.

Sally and Billy (Rivulet) - Fraternal Twins baby! Since they look near identical, it's easy to mix the two at a distance. Other than personality, the difference between them is the frills and eyes (Billy: Green eyes, lighter frills, Sally: Blue eyes, magenta frills)

Spencer (Artificer) - noone knows how he got here, but he keeps the scavengers and lizards out so he stays.

Freddie (Red lizard) - when Sally was just a slugpup, she had somehow managed to tame the most dangerous lizard without dieing and kept it a secret for cycles. They found him out when he followed her home, and got attacked by Spencer. He's now the family pet, and a great intimidation tool.

Maxwell (Echo) - he doesn't like how ascension screwed him over (read: someone screwed him over), so he looms over his descendants, waiting for one of them to get enough karma to hear him so he can... influence them to get them on the right path.

My YouTube recommended has been 110% Rainworld for all of May, but I’ve been trying to dodge spoilers so idk much about the actual cats and story (this is fine tho, i just won’t be able to add much ^^)

It’s interesting to see the family to be somewhat related here, minus Spencer and Sue ofc, and I do think it’s a little funny that they’re all axolotl cats but Papa. (For people who don’t know what Rivulets look like, they look like absolute baybes and I do see the Spencer in the artificer:)

Echoes are enemies with a vague connection to the slugpups that i don’t fully understand yet, so Maxwell being an Echo makes sense, it would also make sense if PIE’s job here was to put them out of their misery. I do however feel like this is incomplete without Sue, Freddio, and Hurricane, so I’m gonna try my hand at them!

Sue ( Saint ) - There are many things about Sue that make me lean to this one, with or without considering colors. For start, their world is one of the most dangerous to wake up in and instead of rain, it’s full of snow. That gets me because of her backstory: Sue’s original world was consumed by a nuclear winter. Saint is also the most frail character, and even with the tongue it doesn’t really… change that. Idk the whole thing but STILL.

Freddio ( Strawberry Lizard ) - Being the younger brother of Freddy, making them a different type of red-ish lizard would be cute to me. I know that Strawberry lizards only REALLY spawn in Saint’s campaign, but the legacy system thing MAY allow for it? Maybe? Idk. In canon Freddio is smaller than Freddy and somewhat more aggressive, so maybe it would make more sense if they swapped, but idk things.

Hurricane ( Giant Jellyfish ) - Giant Turtle? GIANT JELLYFISH! Slow-moving, not really a threat to Papa but otherwise deadly and especially prevalent to Sue… Just like canon!

Trans Weasley twins

One of them is AFAB, one is AMAB. (Unsure if it’s Frederick and Georgiana or Frederica and George, but they’re both shortened to nicknames real quick) They were born fraternal, but they start noticing the dysphoria when they’re kids. They’re both SO SURE that they should be identical, they practically live in each others head, for a while they aren’t sure if they feel that’s they’re boys or girls. They realize it’s neither, but the biggest issue is that they’re not identical. Sometimes magical twins have heightened magic that makes them share sensations, memories, dreams, etc etc etc. they keep getting mixed up bc they’re different when they should be the same. It results in speech delays and stutters, their accidental magic breaks mirrors and changes their hair length but it’s not enough.

Eventually, Molly and Arthur talk to a mind healer who suggests prolonged treatment with Polyjuice. Molly is already an adept potion maker (usually for household remedies) so she brews Polyjuice CONSTANTLY (there’s always a cauldron in the shed), it’s subsidized through their ministry health plan so they can afford it. The twins don’t care which of them has to change, they just need to be identical; they both carry around little canteens on their hips and switch which twin they change into depending on the day, sometimes there will be two little “girls” or two little “boys”, but they generally dress androgynous and they use they/them pronouns bc they’re more of a unit than they are separate. They sort of consider themselves a hive mind, some days they’re Fred and George and some days they’re more Gred and Forge, speaking in unison and unable to stray too far from each other.

When they reach Hogwarts age, there’s long talks with where they’re going to be housed. Bc there was never a question of whether they’d be sorted into the same house, but which dorm they’d be put in was a question. Somehow they agree on a plan where they’d place one bed in each dorm, enlarge it a bit, and they’d just bunk together whichever way they were feeling that night. It’s a bizarre system, but there’s not enough students to warrant a third gender dorm and they don’t want to be excluded from having other roommates so they’re up for it. People get used to asking the name of the twin they’re talking to before starting a conversation, but even if they didn’t it would be okay bc they almost always have each others memories so it wouldn’t matter too much. They do act /slightly/ different when they’re feeling more apart, and on those days they usually wear their ties differently so that people can tell who they’re talking to.

When they’re older they enter a poly relationship with Lee and Angelina. Some people think it’s a bit weird bc it’s maybe incestuous, but it’s hard for /them/ to feel that way bc Gred and Forge are more like one person than two so it’s more like there’s just extra bodies and they’re dating the same entity.

(No Fred death in this AU, but George does lose his ear) When George loses his ear there’s stress bc of the difference. There’s a compulsion for them to also slice off Fred’s ear. They want to get George’s ear remade, but bc it was cursed off it can’t be healed by spell work. Hermione suggests going to a muggle plastic surgeon to get the ear reconstructed. Molly is initially against it but considering it’s either that or Fred won’t be able to stop themselves from cutting off their own ear, they go do it (Arthur is fascinated). When they eventually get settled down in their Polycule after the war, with Lee and Angelina and the two of them all in one magically expanded apartment above the Wheezes, they have kids. Angelina carries them bc there’s extreme dysphoria (not to mention the consequences of Polyjuice use) about one of the twins doing it.

Establishing the Sakamaki 🧬

Where I try to make some assumptions about the vampire boys and why they all look so different( ignoring the big fact that its an anime and anime brothers have genetics pools made of skittles):

Ever since consuming this anime/franchise, i got annoyed with the brothers looking nothing like each other.Hell even Yui asks Shu why they’re all coordinated worse than a clowns colour palette.

Using the small memory etched in me brain abt the boys I will try to draw a line on who In the Sakamaki household looks more like their mum and more like their dad - and hopefully understand whether Karlheinz has the ability to shapeshift or if there’s something else.Little disclaimer, im probably reading too much into it lmao.(diagrams drawn by me hastily)

Subaru:

Appearance wise hes got white hair with pink tips and red eyes.Easily we can say he matches both his parents since his baby pics in the game show Karl, and Christa sporting the same colours and therefore the same colour genes (have I mentioned they’re related, yikes) would be passed onto Subaru .

I believe Subaru got his hair and eye colour from his mother, not his dad.My mans got a very strong level of self hatred and views himself as a dirty individual due to his parents.There are segments in his route where Christa during her psychotic episodes confuses Subaru for Karl and does some traumatising shit to him.

I therefore headcanon that Subaru has his mothers hair and eyes but his fathers face and perhaps body built.Karlheinz may be depicted with golden eyes and white pinkish hair but I don’t think its a genetic match timeline wise, he may simply have aged.BUT, there is also clear evidence in the Sakamaki family tree of white hair and red eyes genes - this could be a form of albinism and/or an indicator of a vampires age.

Shu and Reiji:

Ill start off Shu.Hes probably the easiest one to pin point because hes a spitting image of Beatrix, blonde/orangey hair with blue eyes.Only difference is his height and gender, those he got from his dad.

Reiji is more interesting to decipher. Cordelia was kind enough to tell us bluntly that he resembles Karl when he was younger, which means, Karl is sporting red eyes and purple hair right???

Well not quite, whilst the hair MIGHT be a match in some ways (one of the cgs in his route shows Reiji with long locks similar to his dad, the only difference being his hair is straight) his eyes are a different story; unlike Subaru, Reiji’s peepers are more raspberry purple and pink in hue.What does that mean?? There must be purple genes in the family tree guaranteed, at least eye wise.

So overall, Reiji could be the closest match to his dad, except the triplets may tell a different story.

Ayato, Laito and Kanato:

Lets adress the elephant in the room, the triplets aren’t identical, laito and ayato could fit the “identical twins” because of their eyes and hair whilst Kanato fits more fraternally in the picture.Kanato has big round eyes and a softer face shape, Laito has a more refined jawline and sharp eyes, and ayato fits dabsmack in the middle of the two, with big but sharp eyes and a half soft half refined face shape.

Looking at Cordelia, her face is as feminine as can be, yet not as youthful as Yui.Kanato probably takes after her in that regard and so does Ayato.

Time to look at the boys separately.Kanato has purple eyes and hair, and it is stated that hes rather narcissistic because his hair matches Cordelia.Im assuming Kanato got Cordelia’s hair and face but his Father’s eyes.His eyes are very misleading tho because they are more lavender than raspberry purple like Reiji.Heres the kicker- Kanato and Reiji have the same eye design, only Kanato’s are enlarged and lavender.Does this mean his dad has raspberry purple, or lavender eyes??

Hear me out- theres three factors to do with eye colour according to google:

Age: As you get older, your eyes darken so this factor can head-canon that the reason Reiji has a different colour shade is because hes older than Kanato, by how much we dont know.But this means his eyes should be dark lavender not raspberry purple.

Colouring coordination: simply put colours can enhance their tones when matched right.Kanato’s design is drenched in lavenders, lilacs and pinks which would fit his hair and make his eyes appear more lavender too right? Reiji also does colour match his casual wear, mostly similar purple coloured vests to his hair,complimenting his eyes and making them stand out.However, colour matching doesn’t fully change the colour that much, rather its used to compliment it, and make it stand out.Kanato stands out because he’s all lavender not because his eyes stand out from the rest of his outfit.Its made even more evident how purple he really is whenever he sports a ribbon that, funnily enough is closer in shade to Reiji’s eye colour.

Light exposure :fun fact within the first three days after your birth, the colour of your eye sets in.What does this mean for Kanato?? Well if you’ve ever left something colorfull outside in the sun for a couple of days, you’ll notice it become lighter, yes im referring to that one toy in your back-garden that went from red to pink.Knowing the kind of parenting skills Cordelia had, I wouldn’t be shocked if she neglected the boys as newborns.Idk how resistant baby vampires are on their own but they sure as hell are not strong enough to fend on their own.So, it IS possible that Kanato as a baby got exposed to sunlight, causing for his eyes to lighten up to lavender, or rather a light raspberry purple which when in contrast with his outfit appears more LAVENDER.This also might be why he sometimes wears glasses, sunlight exposure can fuck up your eyes.

Lets go back to the other brothers.Ayato got his mothers eye colour and shape plus Red hair combo and so did Laito, the eye shapes may be different but alas its her green. So, what is up with the red hair?? This would mean they got the hair from the dad, but so did Reiji and his hair is purple, not red.

Looking better at the two, Laito’s is orange red whilst Ayato sports strawberry red, so wtf???Well, Karlheinz doesnt have white hair fully, his ends are actually a muted pink, which when colour dropped gives us….the same range as Ayato’s hair tone.So then, where the hell is the purple coming from for Reiji???

The purple maybe comes from his grandparents not his father.Kanato has his purple hair from his mother,but Reiji is still considered a spitting image of his father by Cordelia so what gives? Now this would mean that one of Karlheinz’s parents would have the same strawberry hair and purple in the mix.I know what you’re thinking, that cant be true because Karlheinz’s younger brother has green hair, so one of the parents had green whilst the other had strawberry red, that doesn’t give purple.Unless of course, his father had several wife’s just like him,which explains the red, green and purple ensemble better ( and why he himself is not monogamous, clearly he learned it from someone yay generations worth of trauma)

Why is Laito’s hair more orange then???The anime decided so-I colour-dropped his hair from his game sprites and surprise surprise, its the same muted strawberry red like his dads hair ends.Why isnt it the same as Ayato??? Just like Kanato, light exposure!! Laito is probably more extroverted than he lets on, causing for his hair to change, even as a kid he was out and about more than his other brothers, especially Ayato who was forced indoors to study most of his childhood.This super fun fact is so tell tale about the triplets coping mechanisms too, Laito still goes out, hence his hair is still lighter than his brothers, which means that even now Ayato keeps to the indoors after all these years.Only proves to show that trauma can shape your lifestyle doesn’t it, cant even phantom how worse its for someone who lives as long as they do 😔.

But Karlheinz’s eyes are yellow??? Yeah, i think i might know why.I believe hes got shitty eyesight, which would explain why Kanato and Reiji wear glasses.In the beginning of the anime, it is established by Reiji that vampires are immune to sunlight unlike in stories.Maybe it doesn’t directly kill them, but then why remain nocturnal?Karlheinz’s entire persona is human, he lives like one and has for hundreds of years, who’s to say that the reason why vampires remain nocturnal is due to light sensitivity. If you can hear really well, you’re gonna have a bad time with loud noises, so if you can see really well in the dark, too much light can hurt the same way.Heres my proposition: he uses magic to see, his sight must be so bad that even with magic he still wears glasses.Carla and shin are pureblood, their eyes are golden, and they can use magic, perhaps theres a indication in the colour of their eyes?Its just a theory tho.

In conclusion:

-Shu is a carbon copy of his mother.

-Reiji has his fathers eyes, face and his grandparents hair colour

-Laito has his father’s eye shape, face and hair colour but the colour of his eyes are from his mother

-Ayato has the hair colour from his dad but his eyes are from his mother

Ayato also suffers from long term trauma causing for his prolonged lifestyle to remain stagnant

-Kanato has purple hair just like his mother,face shape and big eyes just like her too but light raspberry purple eyes like his dad

-Kanato also was exposed to sunlight as a newborn causing for his irises to change in colour and probably damaged his eyesight too

Subaru has the hair and eye colour of his mother but his fathers face.

Karlheinz’s got shitty eyesight due to being an old fart.Hes got a predisposed poor eyesight gene leading two of children who inherited his eyes to have to wear glasses.

Just barfing out my personal de Rolo quarter elf headcanons somewhere so I can keep em together and share them! Given I know mine are often a bit weird compared to everyone else’s.

90% of my thoughts have been about Vesper and Leona, due to writing fics heavily involving them, so they take up the bulk of this ahaha oops

EVERY one of these kids is queer, I don’t make the rules, it’s the law of the land.

My personal take on their ages is that Vesper’s the (accidental, oops) firstborn, the twins followed 4-5 years later, Dan a year or two after them (probably a bit of a honeymoon phase after the twins finally started sleeping through the fuckin night), and Gwen 4-6 years later. Vesper is the only one to really get a fair amount of adventuring done, so I could see her being Level 6-12 by the time she’s done while the rest of the brood end up around levels 3-5 depending on their niche and interests.

Vesper:

I am of the opinion Vesper is an Aasimar, because if my timeline knowledge is correct Vex was pregnant with her when she became Pelor's Champion (and if not, I think that's still enough to bless your bloodline enough for an Aasimar, cmon), and I highly doubt she experienced the sort of stress that made her dad go white by twenty in that Tal'dorei Reborn portrait. Plus, having an Aasimar eldest and Tiefling youngest is nice poetic symmetry <3

I decided to make her a Paladin of Erathis for a number of reasons. One, I loath seeing firstborn kids being perfect mixes of their parents' skills and specialties, and I feel the firstborn of two heros and leaders of a city would absolutely want to avoid being compared to her parents whenever possible. So instead of a DEX build like her parents, aunt and uncle, she's a front line STR heavy hitter. I settled on Paladin specifically to nod to Vax and to give her another way to separate herself from her lineage - because sure, her mom is Pelor's champion, and Pelor definitely blessed her, but that doesn't mean she has to be his paladin, too, so she turns towards Erathis instead. I also think she'd be Oath of Redemption, just because that subclass + the Lawbearer's whole thing both would help shape someone into a good leader, once she takes Cass' place at the head of the Chamber. 

Vesper’s very much an ‘everyone can be redeemed‘ person, as a logical extreme of hearing her dad’s story, and is fairly prone to black and white thinking with shades of grey frustrating her. She's also terrible with money, because please she's a noble kid of course she is, and it's incredibly funny to me that she and Vex would butt heads over this. However, they both fly together for short bursts (usually with a couple of the smaller kids with them, once Vesper’s big and confident enough to carry one with her), Vex on her broom and Vesper with her wings. She was initially very afraid of heights until Vex helped her out with that. 

She spends a few years in her early twenties adventuring, to learn how to handle herself and grow as a person. She comes out of this with a more nuanced understanding of life, and maybe she’s had to make a few hard choices of her own while out on the road she talks to her parents about. Vesper is also very close to Cass, though her efforts to distinguish herself from her parents, plus them both recovering from the trauma they’d recently endured when she was young, mean they’re not as close to her as the other kids. Vesper’s actually fairly close to Grog and Pike - Grog is a great sparring partner and helps her break down complex problems, while Pike’s ALSO fun to spar with while also being a religious mentor of sorts, alongside Yennen while he’s still alive.

A note on the twins, first: 

Leona, ‘Lonny’:

I HC that these are genuine identical twins, not fraternal twins as Vex and Vax or Whitney and Oliver likely were IF they’re cis (I’m very fond of trans Vax HCs but I digress). As a result, either Leona or Wolfe is trans. I haven’t decided which, but one is. Given they are identical and were almost indistinguishable as babies, in the chaos of the birth (kindergartener Vesper's wings poofed out the first time at this point because it was so Exciting) Vex is pretty sure they got mixed up once or twice and no one’s sure which one is the actual firstborn. Not that it matters, it’s just something she occasionally remembers that sends her into a fit of giggles.

No one is sure which of the twins is technically older, however Leona maintains that she’s the older twin so we’ll go with that. Leona’s being a little imp in the one art we have of her, and given the personality I have in mind for her I see her as being a Bard. It drives Percy completely fucking batty at times, but she spends a fair amount of time with Scanlan and Kaylie one Vox Machina dinner and that’s that. She is mostly an orator and singer, but can often be found playing a small harp (Laura Bailey, *harp music*) and looking deceptively innocent and charming before she pranks her siblings or some poor visiting noble. However, her real passion is stories and secret lore - she spends much of her time in the library looking for juicy details from history she can spin into song. I haven’t narrowed down College of Whispers or College of Eloquence for her, either could work imo! She would love Hamilton and Six the Musical, make of that what you will lmao

Leona is a complete and utter little shit. Her reaction to having important parents is to use that as an excuse to get away with all sorts of hooligan shit, because really what could they do? Her teenage years are directly responsible for Vex’s grey hairs, and she’s only interested in her dad’s tinkering so far as it can make fun toys to play with. Leona is at her least irritating when reading and looking for knowledge, though, so she and dad will spend long hour in the library chipping away at some question or another or bickering about which historical account is more accurate. Vex loves listening to her sing and absolutely eggs on half the trouble she gets into, and privately congratulates her on a well made prank once any offended parties aren’t looking and once her heartrate slows down. She’s a very weird balance of cute nerd and little shit, and smart enough to lean heavily into the former to cloak her intentions. Think how Vex would use her flirting and winks to get what she wanted, but less discrimination trauma and more Bard and Being a Lil Bastard Sometimes.

 She eventually has a bit of a crisis, realizing that because of her family she can get away with most anything and not let her grow for her own merits, on top of always being seen as part of a set with her twin. As a result, when Percy takes her on a diplomatic/Ugh Fine We shall visit Scanlan trip to Westrunn, she kinda. maybe. Runs off to join the Cobalt Soul. I’m writing that fic rn hands off :vv But long and short of it is she finds her calling with the Soul, caring for and finding knowledge and then sharing it in ways that actually stick in peoples’ heads. Maybe a bit of spying and information gathering of her own if she’s a Whispers Bard instead of Eloquence so she can put her nosy nature to good use. She takes a particular delight in either exaggerating or correcting tales of Vox Machina and no one can ever tell which she’ll go with in a given moment.

Wolfe:

Wolfe does not insist he is the older of the twins - however, he is the more mature, level-headed and not humble at all of the pair, so he absolutely implies Leona is lying about it. I haven’t actually decided on Wolfe’s class or subclass yet. I like the idea of him not having a lick of magic to him, unlike his Bard twin. However, I am dead set on Galdric (you know -  Purvan Suul’s ever-living wolf companion who now guards Whitestone and per the Tal’Dorei update can be a Warlock patron) having taken an interest in him. SO! I could see him as an Undying Warlock (because oh, man, the ties to Vax would have Vex so emotional), or a Gloomstalker Ranger hunting side by side with his mother and this huge fuckall magic wolf in turns, or a Cavalier fighter riding either a horse or Galdric into battle. 

Wolfe is very similar to a young, pre-trauma Percy, but with something similar to Vax’s bleeding heart worn on his sleeve. He’s a bit arrogant and uppity, but it all comes from a good place of trying to make his parents proud and being proud of his family in turn. His way of forming an identity of his own is really to live up to the peoples’ expectations of what he should be, and as the son of heroes, so he puts himself under a lot of pressure to be perfect (unlike his twin who deliberately fucks around). Vex and Percy reassure him as best they can that he doesn’t have to be anything, but they do appreciate that at least one kid isn’t causing havoc of somesort at a given time. He’s very much a ‘break a few eggs to make an omelet’ kind of guy, but he will cry about it after. Hunting in the forest with mom - using a rifle, not a bow - helps him get a better handle on his emotions. He likes shedding the expectations of court out in the woods, where it’s just him, nature, maybe one of his parents too. And Galdric, whose expectations are unknown to him. He’s very much in awe of most of Vox Machina and not close to them as a result, because he’s fairly intimidated. He IS the darling of Whitestone’s populace, though, and great at getting along with the everyman once he gets over his ego and lets his heart shine through.

Wolfe and Leona are not nearly as close as Vex and Vax, because that was 90% codependency as a result of the hell they went through and these two both have other siblings to rely on and don’t need an ‘us vs the world’ mentality to survive. They’re close by virtue of being the same age, but Dan is not much younger than them and both are closer to him than eachother. Which is kinda necessary - Dan keeps their contrasting personalities from blowing up into full blown arguments. Vex has next to No idea how to handle this, however Percy remembers Whitney and Oliver and is better equipped to help the twins sort out their differences. Tho one time a guy courting Wolfe ends up only being in it for the prestige and Leona makes his life a living hell, and Wolfe helps cover for Leona when she’s skipping lessons to read in some secret corner.  

He might very well keep Galdric’s patronage or protection or Whatever It Is a secret from his parents as long as he can, because he knows how it’d worry and upset them, so there might be some drama about that idk. Cass might help him keep the secret while he figures out how to tell his parents and what to do, to give the poor kid some breathing room. Galdric doesn’t see what the problem is. He might have a few brief interactions with Vax as a result of his ties to the Raven Queen through Galdric, but given he’s not directly working with RQ herself there is a measure of distance that’s enough to keep Vex and Percy from completely freaking out.

Vax’ildan, ‘Dan’:

He also goes by Freddie given he got that middle name from his dad. Dan’s the absolute softest of the family - Vex has taken each kid out hunting regularly enough as mother-child bonding time, except the first time she and Dan went out he broke down crying at the thought of killing anything so they just take walks together. He’s a Druid - not a high level one by any means. Circle of the Shepherd or Land maybe?

I like the idea of him feeling very much like the odd one out of his family - both named for his uncle (Vesper’s namesake wasn’t a world-saving hero, she was a *teenager*) and not outwardly seeming to have the traits his parents are well known for. He can’t shoot a bow, can’t handle a gun, can’t tinker, can’t do Pelor things, he’s just the kid that really loves plants. (Am I projecting a hell of a lot of autism on this kid? Yes. I Am. You can’t stop me.) However, Percy and Vex and the rest of his siblings are eager to learn with him - Percy takes up gardening more, mostly on the technical side of the science behind it, to spend time with his son, while Vex takes him on walks in the woods and they go foraging for mushrooms and fun treasures together. She makes little stick dollies and forest toys with him, like her mother used to do for her and Vax. It might be on one of these outings they find Charlie, maybe?

He spends a lot of time with Keyleth in Zephrah, or in the Patchwood or castle garden when at home, and once he’s older he might move to Zephrah completely. Dan picks up a lot of Kiki’s verbal ticks from being around her so much. He might have even been there for Kiki’s assasination attempt, if the angst is worth it >;3c 

IDK I don’t have as many ideas for Dan as the others :c beyond him being close to Kiki but not at all like Vax ;; He’s also close to Trinket’s cub Charlie, though given how bear reproduction and aging works that portrait would have needed to be completed in the early summer and Charlie would be absolutely huge come the next year. I gotta think on this kid more.

Gwendolyne:

(oh no im getting tired now gktjrngn fuck.)

Is the sweetest de Rolo and has inherited Velora’s Owlbear stuffie, given to her one time when the family Had to go to Syngorn for some contrived reason, and some elves raised a stink about this little toddler. Which was not wise; Vex blew her gasket in a big way, Percy took the liberty of voiding some important trade agreements (Cass handled the paperwork when they got home), Syldor tried to salvage the whole thing while defending his grandchild, and while they did that Velora cradled her newest niece in a back room and calmed her down with the old beloved teddy. 

I see Gwennie as 100% being a daddy’s girl. Poor Percy - none of his kids really Got tinkering until the last one. Sure they could help in the workshop and loved to watch him make things, or try to make things of their own, but none really got the itch for it until he found Gwen trying to sneak down to make something for her stuffie at 10pm. I see her as an Artificer (Artillerist or Battle Smith)! Unlike her father’s love of clockwork and pretty creations, now, Gwen is 100% all about shit that goes boom, which is super funny given how sweet she is. Vex gets so many more exploding arrows once Gwen starts helping her dad. However, there is a minor point of conflict in that she likes the guns, the bombs, the explosions,and thinks they’re cool, and cannot for the life of her grasp why her father is so upset about having invented such cool things. She really likes Tary too.

Though I don’t think she would be an adventurer, I like the idea of Gwennie leaving home to sell some of her inventions and creations. I also really, really want to incorporate Tiefling virtue names into Gwennie’s life, and while away from home I can see her going by Darling. Because it’s something she associates with her mother, with love, and she’s so much of a daddy’s girl that it’s nice for her to have something of her mom’s. IDK if anyone in Whitestone castle knows that this mildly famous merchant of insane tinkering feats that goes by Darling is their Gwennie, and IDK if she’s actually deliberately hiding this or hasn’t bothered to explain. She gets her incredible salesman skills from mom ofc.

All her family learn Infernal, because sometimes when she’s stressed she’ll lapse into it, and it becomes the official language of gossip for the de Rolo family whenever they’re at some important event and have some tea to spill in polite company.
