The Sisters Of Mercy – Amphetamine Logic

57 with alice and diavolo :3 --@cremisino (why tf am i using anon when i could send this from my main and youd know exactly wh-)
57. sender  winks  at  receiver .
Diavolo takes a moment to react, not used to people being so.. Well, flirtatious with him, apart from Doppio whom he did not entirely realize to be that way, instead pinning him down as friendly.. Yes, friendly. This was probably a friendly wink. Besides, he was still getting used to knowing someone so intimately that he would show himself before them.
But Alice was different from the rest, and even though he knew them little, he knew that to be true. The hostess at the cafe had probably noticed him visiting more and more often, as much as could be permitted while he was staying nearby. He knew that soon he would have to leave, and not return - after all, he couldn’t be in one place for too long.
Still.. Part of him, and he’s unsure whether it is exactly him or not, sees the wink as an invitation. Come and get to know me. Get to know someone.. Be my friend. Even if Diavolo is not reading it romantically, which he should be, but god is he oblivious sometimes - he still feels dirty about it. Impure..
Yet..
“Wait.” Diavolo reaches out to their hand as they place the coffee down. It is so very wrong of him. Yet it feels so right to do. “Come sit with me?”
He felt so embarrassed, he hoped his cheeks were not red.

For Father’s Day, I want to share one of my favorite memories of my dad:
My dad is a prolific snuggler. He LOVES snuggling. And because I was a tiny energetic ADHD child I was extremely difficult to snuggle. It was also a challenge to get me to go to sleep at all, and because I was like 4 I needed to nap at least once every day to not turn into a manic distructo-goblin tornado.
My mom had learned how to outsmart me - she knew if she could trick me into sitting still for like 5 minutes I’d just fall asleep, like a shark asphyxiating without movement. It worked sometimes but sometimes it was still a struggle. My dad’s technique was then used if mom’s strategic outmaneuvering of a 4-year-old failed to keep me sitting still for the requisite 300 seconds needed for my tiny body (acting as-if propelled by a motor) to shut down.
My dad’s technique was great because I was a TOTAL daddy’s girl so I would basically agree to do anything he asked. And his strategy was to come up to me around nap time and tell me that he was SO tired and that he just couldn’t sleep without snuggles and that all he needed was a few minutes of snuggles and he’d be able to fall asleep and I could go back to playing and kicking stuff and scrabbling all over the walls like a bug on amphetamines.
Of course, my dad, who liked sleeping about as much as he likes being dunked in acid, was actually tricking me. He would lie down next to me, put an arm around me, slow his breathing down, and eventually I would just kinda doze off and he would sneakily get up and go do something around the house.
Because I was such a sucker for my dad’s pleas for help I was fully incapable of using logic or recognizing patterns and always agreed to help him sleep and never realized this trick. I, in fact, only learned about this a few years ago when I was working with my mom on a Christmas puzzle and started getting sleepy and she laughed and said this is how she got me to nap when I was a kid. I was hit with a tidal wave of memories of falling asleep mid-puzzle and waking up in bed while she and my dad talked about their different strategies and I realized that my dad’s technique for getting me to nap STILL worked and my parents STILL sometimes did that when I was visiting on the weekends and seemed tired. I was like 25. To be honest even now that I know how it works it still works, and now that my beautiful wife @cintailed knows about this trick she has also successfully gotten me to nap on days where I’m exhausted from work but trying to “push through” for some reason.
@optimisticdad-blog you’re an awesome dad and your dad snuggles (or duggles) will always be a source of joy and comfort for me. I love you SO so much and hope you have a great Father’s Day!

I saw this comedy set on TikTok and thought this was perfect for Tim
Tim hasn’t slept in days working on a drug case rambling about stupid bags.
Bruce walking by: what’s going on?
Dick eating popcorn with Dami: this case is about to make Timmy crack.
Tim slamming his coffee mug down: humans don’t know anything about irony!
Bruce: oh. I’m sorry chum anything I can to help?
Tim: February 2020 two men were pulled over by GCPD for speeding on the interstate. Upon inspection of the car officers found a quote “tan bag” with the words quote “bag full of drugs” printed on the outside.
Bruce: right
Tim: now having been trained in the art of law enforcement the officer made an educated assessment that perhaps. This tan bag may not be trying to be ironic and instead actually had drugs in it.
Dick: I can see the logic.
Tim: upon inspection of the bag the officer found that his theory was correct because inside the bag was 70 grams of meth, 1.36 kilograms of GHB, a gram of cocaine, 15 MDMA tablets, 3.6 grams of fentanyl. Thereby rendering the outside of the bag n understatement because that bag was full of EVERY drug!
Dami: wow.. talk about the understatement of the year.
Tim: when asked if it was common to come across a bag labeled “bag full of drugs” he was quoted as saying “yeah I’d say that’s rare.”
Dick: so clearly not a public speaker..
Tim: Tuesday July 20th 2024. GCPD pullover a woman just inside of Gotham. And upon inspection of her vehicle found a quote “tan bag” with the words quote “bag of drugs” printed on the outside in her purse. Upon removal of said “bag of drugs” the officer found that it was as advertised unironically containing 3.25 grams of cocaine, 1.75 grams of crack, 1 gram of meth, 1.5 pills of hydromorphone, 2 amphetamines, and 4.5 alprazolams! Again the lettering on the bag a distortion regardless of how technically accurate it is because this bag HAD ALL THE FUCKING DRUGS IN IT!
Bruce: language chum.
Tim: Tuesday October 8th 2024! Blüdhaven police located a stolen car. Inside the found a fully loaded firearm, cash, and a quote “tan bag” labeled quote “definitely not a bag full of drugs” law enforcement no doubt taking pointers from GCPD checked the contents of the bag quote “definitely not a bag full of drugs” and found that it was in fact full of drugs! 79 tabs of fentanyl! 230 grams of meth and 3 fake pills of oxycodone! Which if it was just that would have rendered the front an accurate description and thus a level of situational irony that would have been achieved that would have made Oscar Wilde blast his pants!
Jason being summoned at the mention of Oscar Wilde: what would make Oscar Wilde blast his pants?
Dick: shh he’s not done.
Tim: back in Gotham. January 19th 2025!
Dami: oh. Recent.
Tim: a woman was arrested at a traffic stop. The K-9 unit took an interest in a bunch of bags in the back of the car. When asked if they could search the car the woman said “yeah. There shouldn’t be anything illegal in there.”
Jason: oh. Not smart..
Tim: when the GCPD searched the car they found a quote “tan tote bag” with the words quote “definitely not a bag full of drugs” printed on the front. And upon inspection of the bag, despite her earlier assurance and the bags, law enforcement discovered that there was in fact FUCKING DRUGS IN THE BAG!
Bruce: language!
Tim: meth and Narcan if you’re keeping score! Enough to get the women re-arrested for felony possession with an intent to manufacture and deliver! And I say re-arrested because she had been arrested for the same charges 10! DAYS! EARLIER!
Dami: oh.
Tim pinching the bridge of his nose: which means a woman charged with having drugs was out on bond got caught with drugs again. In a bag that was labeled “definitely not a bag of drugs” which by the way is available online for purchase at lookhuman.com for $18.99 which is a deal considering how much money it’s gonna cost if ya get arrested with a bag full of drugs!
Jason: oh it’s a lot.
Tim: now! Humans. Here’s the news. Irony is not dead it’s everywhere the problem is it seems that no one knows exactly what it is. Is it ironic to have a bag full of drugs labeled “full of drugs”? Is it ironic to have a bag with “definitely not full of drugs” printed on the front and then fill it comically chuffed with a Costco amount of fucking drugs?
Bruce giving up: language…
Tim with eyes twitching: humans I ask you! Is it ironic do you think to have 3 of those stories start with in Gotham and end with “bag full of drugs”?! Because you saw it coming from the beginning?! Or is it the Blüdhaven story that’s ironic because you heard a bag in Blüdhaven labeled “definitely not full of drugs” and figured it wouldn’t be?! It’d be some bottled microbrews and high end cheeses and to find out that bag you thought was full of Blüdhaven artisanal turned out to be fucking jackpot crack and fools-oxy?!
Bruce: okay. I think it’s time for bed.
Tim literally losing his mind: is it ironic that I’m coming in hot when I said I wouldn’t because every day has been a fire hose of historical events coming out of all ends of the media and I didn’t want to give you a panic attack and now I’m having a panic attack because I’m so goddamned on edge all the time because January 2025 came in tweaking in a flaming geo metro wearing a bag labeled “definitely not full of drugs” printed on the front!
Everyone trying to get Tim to calm down while he continues ranting loudly.
Dick: we should really watch him closer..
Tim: and is that news?! Is that irony?! And what should I be panicking about?!
Dami: agreed. Drake needs more sleep.
Bruce pinching the bridge of his nose: who keeps giving him coffee?
More loud ranting can be heard in the background.

BREAKING NEWS: Blonde bird boy and shirtless robot with a bee on a lead have me in a choke-hold!
Scar: What are amphetamines? Grian: Drugs that can go on land and water. Scar: Ohhhh.
Scar: What’s your favorite color? Grian: Stop asking stupid questions. Ask me something logical and mature. Scar: How many moles of sodium bicarbonate are needed to neutralize 0.8ml of sulfuric acid at STP? Grian: My favorite color is pink.
Scar: How do you want your coffee? Grian: Black, like my soul. Scar: Scar: Grian, your soul is a latte.
Grian: There's nothing to do…. Scar: You can wash the dishes you promised to wash about a week ago. Grian: pulls out their phone Nevermind.
Grian: Do you even have a plan? Scar: This is the plan! I break you out, chaos, destruction, something something something, we win! Grian: Oh, of course, the old “something something something we win”. That’s a terrible plan!
Scar: I am 39 cheetos tall. Grian: Why… are you measuring your height in cheetos? Scar: Because we're out of doritos.
Scar: Life is like Grian. It's short.
Scar: I’d kill someone if you asked me to. Grian: I’m pretty sure you’d kill someone even if I didn’t ask you to.
Grian: If I die first, promise to wait up for me, okay, Scar? Scar: Oh, Grian. When I die, I’m taking you with me. Grian: I can’t tell if that’s a threat or a compliment. Scar: I’d think of it more as a grim inevitability.
Grian: Did you win? Or just not die? Grian: Either way, hooray. Scar: …Is "no" a valid answer? Grian: The hooray is redacted and you frighten me.
Scar: Help, someone at prom has been killed! Grian: Calm down, we don't need you to Panic! At the Disco.
Scar: How are you gonna carve a gigantic pumpkin? Grian: The same way I make onion rings! Grian: grabs a chainsaw
Grian: Scar, you're an asshole, man. Scar: You are what you eat Grian.
Scar: So, you lied to me? Grian: That depends on how you define lying. Scar: Well, I define it as not telling the truth. How do you define it? Grian: Um, reclining your body in a horizontal position?
Grian: "Go hang a salami" backwards is "I'm a lasagna hog". Scar: How did either of those sentences occur naturally for you to discover this?
Scar: Seriously, Grian, how many people would you have killed if we’d asked you to? Grian: That’s not important Scar: I DISAGREE.
Scar: Come on, Grian! How any times do I have to apologize? Grian: Once! Scar: …No.
Grian: I called you like ten times! Why didn’t you pick up? Scar: remembers dancing to the ringtone Scar: I didn’t hear it.
Grian: Scar, if you don't shut up I'm going to throw myself out of the car. click Grian: DID YOU JUST TURN THE FUCKING CHILDRENS' LOCK ON?!
Scar: Who's in charge here? Grian, shrugging: Usually whoever yells the loudest.
Grian: If this plan goes down the drain, where should we regroup? Scar: The afterlife, I guess.
Scar: Would anyone know any good vendors for professional-quality brass knuckles? Grian: I know you’re serious, but you say the scariest shit sometimes.
Grian: Do we have any orange juice left? Scar: pours the remaining juice into their cup Scar: Sorry, we’re all out.
Grian: What must it be like to live in your head? Are there happy ponies in there? It’s really something how utterly delusional your optimism is. If I didn’t hate you so much, I might even be impressed. Scar: Huzzah! I got a heavily qualified and slightly sarcastic compliment from Grian!

something that I have thought in regards to drugs recently is that afaik amphetamines are a pretty good antidepressant, one that seems to have less medically significant withdrawls than things like SSRIs and also while I'm not exactly an expert on the subject, seems to work better in general than those drugs as well (obviously there's individual differences people may have to drugs that might change this) but they aren't listed as antidepressants for anyone except people who are dying, and I dunno I guess it's just one of the things where preference for prescribing drugs that can have torturous side effects and incredibly unpleasant withdrawls that work less well over drugs that have stigma surrounding them for their ability to be used recreationally is very obvious to me (not that amphetamines don't have risk or don't work for some people)
haha amphetamine & methylphenidate were prescribed for a much broader range of conditions, including tx-resistant depression, prior to the 1950s. the shift off them is basically a combination of fears about addiction (overblown but tbc amphetamine withdrawal is like. not very fun lol) & an effort to make drug prescribing more specialised & thus both legitimate and justify psychiatry as a profession. there are still some psychs who will try stimulants as an off-label last resort and i believe in the 90s it was pretty standard in switzerland (zurich anyway) to rx dextroamph and methylphen for severe tx-resistant depression; i don't know if that's still the case. but yeah this is a topic with a lot of literature actually lol it's just that it crops up every so often as a proposal and then the studies pretty consistently find that stimulants don't really alleviate depression & also aren't supposed to be rxed concurrently with most antidepressants because there are seizure risks <-psychs dgaf and will double rx these anyway but yea you're not going to find it written down as recommended in most places. also a lot of psychs who still think uppers cure depression will rx bupropion/wellbutrin because they think of it like a minor stimulant, which is like semi true at best but it is a reservoir of this type of prescribing logic

Zack: What are amphetamines?
Genesis: Drugs that can go on land and water.
Zack: Ohhhh!
*Later, on a mission*
Angeal: How are we going to get across the river without swimming?
Sephiroth: I'm not sure. We need a vehicle or something that could get us across both land and water.
Zack, excitedly: We need amphetamines!!
*Much later*
Angeal: I KNEW IT! I KNEW HE DID DRUGS!
Sephiroth, holding him back: Calm down. Surely there's a logical explanation for this. Zack, who first taught you about amphetamines?
Zack: Genesis.
*Even later*
Sephiroth: YOU IRRESPONSIBLE CRETIN. YOU'VE OFFERED HIM DRUGS?
*Genesis is getting the shit slapped out of him*

sorry if this is overstepping boundaries or anything but...I've seen you ask if you deserve sleep/rest quite a few times recently and it makes me worry, because the answer is always yes. Yes, you deserve to rest, you deserve sleep. Its something as vital to your health as breathing or eating and there is no "deserving" it. Sleep is not a privilege. Rest is not something you need to earn. Your body is quite literally going to break down at some point if you deprive yoursef of it. There is no morality to sleeping. There is nothing wrong with resting. There is nothing you could do or be to justify depriving yourself of the right to rest and recover.
I appreciate you saying this. Really. I need the reminder a lot. I mean, on some logical level I know all of this stuff. But as I get more and more tired I also get more and more anxious and start listening to my paranoia and guilt lol….
……I think I still have some shit I need to work through about all of the years that I abused meth to avoid sleeping so that I could be awake literally 24/7 working on a million projects and also graduating college and also working a full time job.
I was obsessed with how that felt. I could do anything and everything. I never needed to stop. I could be awake for days or weeks on end and then rest MAYBE a few hours and do it all over again. I mean, I started rapidly losing my mind and experiencing psychotic breakdowns, but I didn’t need to sleep!!!
I was a machine. Clean, efficient, productive machine …..
….sighs. It’s not sustainable. I know it’s not. I really know it’s not cuz I almost died numerous times trying to sustain it.
I get tastes of how that used to feel when im manic. Even without dangerous amounts of amphetamines, im bipolar and I have manic episodes. I can still find myself awake for days trying to work on things and I get frustrated and upset because I can’t artificially force myself to stay awake with drugs anymore…..
I think maybe I feel weak sometimes, in those moments. For my body breaking down on me after I’ve pushed it so hard. When I WANT to keep going, but I literally can’t.
…..euh. I’ve run out of things to say.
Thank you for caring.
Thanks for letting me vent a bit.
