Carina and Mayas girlfriend (love triangle) works at the vet clinic. Today she has a significant bad day because one of her patients died and she couldn't save them and it shows in her messages to Maya and Carina so the firefighter and/or Carina show up at work and tries to cheer her up with lots of kisses and affection?
Tumblr media
Authors note: This story is a bit shorter than others because I didn't have much time to write over the weekend. Have pity on me ❤
Summary:After a devastating loss for you, both Carina and Maya help you with some cuddles and affection.
---
Excited, the two woman walked up the ramp to the veterinary office where you worked to pay you a little visit with your favorite food in the luggage. They knew you did not like unannounced visits; you usually had a lot of patients of all sizes coming in either for regular treatment or emergencies that left you with no time in between to chat with your girlfriends.
However, according to your brief and unemotional messages to them, they had every reason to worry and so they teamed up during their lunch breaks to make their way over to check on you; to see how you were. "Excuse us, where can we find Doctor L/n?"
The lady at the reception had the landline phone stretched to her ear while she was typing on her computer; totally stressed out. Her gaze shifted to the two ladies in front of her for just a brief second, smiling when she saw the faces of her boss wives and she whispered a quick -One moment please- before turning back to the screen and reading aloud to the person on the phone.
Carina nodded and stepped back to protect the patients privacy. With a quick pull on one of Maya´s arm, she brought her behind the line of discretion. While they waited, the blonde nervously wiggled her leg and bit her lip; she just wanted to rush into your office and take you into her embrace- something bad must have happened to make you behave so cold towards them.
"Doctor DeLuca?" requested the receptionist after a short wait and the addressed turned around. She crossed the last few meters between her and the counter, leaning her elbows on the glass to listen to the other woman talking. "She is in her office but does not want to be disturbed right now. I am sorry."
Now Maya had also approached and put her hands on her hips. Her gaze was questioning and urgent; her eyebrows raised sharply, so that small wrinkles formed on her forehead. "With all respect, we know that you have your orders but she is our wife and we are worried so we are going in now and you will not stop us!"
She pushed past Carina, who previously bit her lip and then started moving backwards as she followed the blonde into your office. When they got there, both of the knocked wildly on your door with their open hand, but when you did not answer, the firefighter opened the door and was startled at the sight of you.
You sat on the sofa with your green scrubs on, your legs bent against your chest and your head tucked into your arms. A soft sob escaped your throat and your body trembled with every breath you took- you were so lost in your own grief that you did not even noticed the knocks and the footsteps approaching your form.
As the couch deepened next to you, strong arms wrapped around your midsection and a chin rested on your upper arm while someone knelt in front of you with a loud crack of their kneecap, trying to clear a path to your face. Two cold fingers gently and deliberately pulled your chin up and revealed your tearful face. "Baby, what happened?"
"Duke died," you choked out dejected and both woman immediately knew, who you were talking about. A German shepherd that you have had in your care since he was 12 weeks old.
After 10 years of living his best life, you diagnosed him with osteosarcoma a year ago, which was treated with multi-modal therapy consisting of surgery, chemo- and pain therapies which extended survival time and improved quality of life, but was not curable.
You tried to make the last few months as comfortable as possible for him, giving him the best therapy you could possibly offer but he lost the fight much faster than you thought and you had to relieve him from his agony this morning.
Through the years of bonding with each other, his death took you extremely hard and you suffered. "Bella, mi dispiace tanto. (Beautiful, I am so sorry)" Carina spoke in a hushed tone and snuggled closer to your lower legs as her head rested on your lap. Gentle kisses were placed on your bare skin. Her fingertips gently stroking your thighs. "It´s not your fault. Sometimes things like this happen in life and there´s nothing you can do about it."
Tears were still streaming freely down your face and you looked at the brunette in front of you. You knew she was right, there was nothing more you could have done. But you expected more time. A reasonable goodbye. By the time the family arrived with him, he was already too far gone to give you one last look or run his tongue over your face one last time.
Maya had meanwhile also pulled her legs up and sat cross-legged next to you to place you on her lap with a strong but loving jerk before starting to rock you in her tight hug. Your head disappeared into her shoulder and your arms wrapped around her, holding her as if she were about to slip out of your grasp should you stop digging your fingernails into her blouse.
"You know, angel.." Maya started to speak and started to place little kisses on the skin of your neck while taking a break from her sentence. "Even if it hurts you incredibly now, you have to see the positive side; you took Duke out of his pain and gave him a better after-life. Up there.." she stretched her hand up and pointed her finger to the sky, waiting for your gaze to follow up with her, "..he can play with other dogs and finally romp around without pain."
The doctor meanwhile got up from her uncomfortable seat on the floor and placed herself on the free side next to Maya. She brushed a strand of hair out of your face and let it disappear behind your ear before wrapping her arms around you and placing soft kisses on the side of the face, that was still visible. "Don´t cry, bella. Where he is now is the most beautiful place for him."

Forbidden flower - Part 4
Draco sighed softly, kept watching the time, and hoped for the soon arrival of his girlfriend. In his hand he held a red rose and he could hardly wait to give it to her. He would have liked to give her a whole bouquet, but she would be unable to keep it in her home.
Draco felt more and more worried about Y/N. In the last few weeks, Draco had also become familiar with the unpleasant side of her husband. Jericho had more and more often been noticed negatively at work, seeming hardly to be able to control himself when he was annoyed about something. Y/N hadn't mentioned  a single word that Jericho had ever gotten handsy with her, and Draco hoped that her husband would never dare. His thoughts faded as he saw Y/N leaving the store.
Y/N saw Draco and she instantly smiled, which he returned immediately - but her smile faded as Jericho appeared in the next moment. He just came out from behind Olivanders and headed straight for Y/N. Jericho didn't see Draco at all, for Draco was standing a few meters behind him.
Panic instantly spread through Y/N's mind, because this was a risky moment. Draco didn't seem to have noticed her husband either, for he walked towards Y/N without any hesitation. Her eyes grew wide as she glanced briefly at Draco and he frowned in question, smiling nonetheless. He wondered why she suddenly looked so serious but Draco was not expecting that her husband would suddenly appear. Draco believed that Jericho was still sitting at his desk, working. To make things worse, Y/N saw the red rose in Draco's hand and if Jericho would see it too and then instantly he would understand what was going on between them. Y/N tried to keep a clear mind, but Draco sped up, almost catching up with Jericho. Now Y/N had to act quickly. Her heart was beating up to her throat and she turned pale. Her stomach contracted painfully and it felt like she was about to throw up. But she walked purposefully towards Jericho and greeted him;loud enough so that Draco would hear it too and understand what was happening.
"Hi Jericho!"
Abruptly, Draco stopped, feeling as if he had been struck by lightning and turned away from her, his heart pounding. The blond man stayed in place for the moment, overhearing the two of them and watching Y/N forcing herself to ignore him, as hard as it was for her.
"Surprise, sweetheart!"
When Draco heard him speak, he felt sick. Sweetheart? No, she certainly wasn't his sweetie! Jealousy crept up involuntarily in Draco and he clenched his jaw tightly so that his bones were clearly pressing through under his skin.
"I thought you were going to be working late again tonight?"
"Aren't you glad to see me, Y/N? Though I was going to give you a treat and take you out for dinner!"
Draco held back hard, hating the thought of her having to spend the evening with Jericho. The young Malfoy made his way down one of the narrow alleys, close enough to keep an eye on the two of them. It drove him crazy to see Jericho kissing and touching her. Stroking through her soft hair and seeing how uncomfortable it made her. Instantly, Draco couldn't help but think of that awful dinner where Jericho had treated his wife with no respect at all.
"Come on, sweetie. Let's enjoy tonight. We haven't spent time together for a long while!"
Draco would have loved to throw several curses at him, but he didn't. Not when Y/N was around and obviously Y/N was afraid of being caught having an affair with him. Draco looked down at the rose in his hand and sighed heavily before leaning the back of his head against the wall.
"Fuck..."
From that day on, Jericho waited for Y/N every single day and Draco didn't even have a chance to talk to her. This had been going on for four days and the young Malfoy thought he was going crazy. Jericho didn't seem to let his wife out of his sight anymore and he left his workplace much earlier than usual. Draco couldn't visit her at work either, for she was never alone there. It was a crappy situation, that much was certain. He had to figure something out if Draco wanted to see his lover. And Y/N liked the current situation even less; Jericho didn't leave her side, seeming to be his old self. He brought her flowers, gave her gifts and was charming. But Y/N was not stupid, knowing that this was not his true nature. Whatever got into him, she didn't trust him. Too much evil had happened between them and Y/N would never forgive him. No matter how hard Jericho would try, he had already lost her. Draco was the only man she wanted and she had to see him. The young woman reached for other ways to make that happen...
♦♦♦♦
"Sit down, Jericho. Dinner will be ready in a minute."
He hugged his wife from behind, burying his face in the crook of her neck and breathing in her scent. Y/N shivered and closed her eyes for a moment, simply disgusted when Jericho got too close.
"Can't we just skip dinner? And go upstairs?", Jericho whispered hoarsely in her ear, making her shiver even more.
"No, Jericho..."
"Come on, sweetie. It's been so long since we last had sex. Why don't you feel like it?"
What was she supposed to say in response? That she found him disgusting? That she loved and desired another man? Oh, Jericho would freak out! And Draco probably would too, if she gave Jericho what he demanded.
"I just don't feel like it lately."
She heard Jericho sigh and when he let go of her, she instantly reached for the plates she had already filled with food. Wordlessly, she walked to the table where she placed everything.
"You never feel like it. I just wonder why? Am I not good enough in bed for you?"
There he was again. The selfish, neurotic Jericho.
"Not today, Jericho. Please. Sit down and have dinner with me."
She tried the quiet way, and sometimes it worked but once she got into an argument, she was lost. By now she knew how to deal with her husband. Nevertheless, it was not easy to restrain him, as it was now. He did sit down at the table, but Y/N flinched now and then at his abrupt movements. She averted her eyes from him while he stared at her, and of course it didn't escape her. It was more than uncomfortable, but she tried to focus on her food with her appetite gone. Jericho, on the other hand, ate everything Y/N had cooked him. Y/N just poked around in her plate, taking a bite or two. Again and again she looked furtively at him and wondered when the effect of the potion she had secretly bought would finally take effect. This potion was supposed to make him completely sleepy within a few minutes and put him out of action for the next eight hours. And when Jericho finally began to yawn, Y/N smirked unremarkably. Jericho himself didn't even think that Y/N might have added something into his food. Still, he found it strange that he suddenly became so tired.
"Fuck... I'm going to lie down. I can barely keep my eyes open..."
Jericho already rose and left the kitchen without further ado. Y/N glared after him until he disappeared from her sight. Impatiently she tapped her fingers on the wooden table, waiting for him to finally get upstairs to the bedroom. When she heard him going up the stairs, she slowly rose from her seat. Not much longer and she would finally see Draco...
♦♦♦♦
"Let me take care of your coat," the soft voice behind her said, and Y/N undid the last button, slowly pulling the fabric over her shoulders, tilting her head a little to the side, and she could clearly feel Draco's breath on her neck. He was more than surprised to see Y/N at this late hour, but all the more pleased. Draco slowly took off her coat and didn't take his eyes off her for a second. It took a lot of strength for him not to kiss her senseless. His focus was on her delicate neck and without really thinking about it, he gently caressed her skin with his fingers. Instantly the young woman closed her eyes and enjoyed this wonderful feeling that he caused inside her.
With one hand, Draco brushed her hair aside and he smoothed a gentle kiss on her neck, whereupon she panted softly. She lifted her hand and placed it on the back of his head as Draco's hands slowly stroked her sides and he eventually wrapped his arms around her stomach.
"God, I've missed you, Y/N..."
He couldn't have endured another day without her, and he was happy to have her with him in his house.
"I almost went crazy without you," he whispered hoarsely.
His words brought a smile to her lips and she felt so wanted. She turned to him, their eyes met, and Y/N lost herself in his blue eyes. As Draco leaned in towards her, their faces were now very close and her heartbeat quickened. Naturally, their lips found each other and the moment Draco kissed her, her eyes closed. Her arms wrapped around his neck as they exchanged a tender kiss and Y/N instantly felt her pussy begin to tingle. There was so much desire, so much lust in that kiss. Sensually, Y/N whispered his name as he began to caress her neck again. She desperately clawed into his blond hair and tried to control her trembling voice, yet again and again a pleasurable groan escaped her. For Draco, this was pure music. His body was on fire, for he desired this woman like no other. He was nervous and also excited, but he managed to hide this well.
His hands enclosed her petite shoulders as he opened his mouth a crack wide to glide his tongue over her soft lips. This was more than appreciated by Y/N and a passionate dance began between their tongues, making them both moan with pleasure. As if guided by an invisible force, they both went to Dracos bedroom.
And once there, the two began removing each other's clothes, slowly dropping them to the floor one by one.
"Draco..."
His name fell softly over her lips as her fingers stroked his bare chest. Draco kissed her, looking into her face with half-opened eyes as he gently cupped her neck before covering it with fiery kisses. Full of pleasure, Y/N closed his eyes, moaning softly. Draco could hardly believe his luck. This wonderful and tender creature in his arms was the best thing that could happen to him. After all the years of loneliness and regret, Draco finally found peace in Y/N's lap.
"Y/N..."
He whispered her name as he looked at her, gently stroking through her hair.
"Do you want to do this?"
Y/N felt so valued and it warmed her heart. Jericho had never treated her so lovingly before and it moved her to tears.
Draco saw the tears in her eyes, but he also saw her smile and she assured him that she wanted that. With a contented sigh, Draco kissed her and Y/N instantly wrapped her hands around his neck.
"Draco, I want you," she whispered and her beautiful eyes looked at him full of love. "I'm very attracted to you and I can't imagine anything more beautiful right now. I want to make love to you."
Draco took great joy in her words. He leaned his forehead against hers and smiled, closing his eyes for a moment.
"You mean a lot to me, Y/N, and I want to see you happy."
Y/N kissed him with affection before nuzzling her cheek against his and sliding her hands into his blond hair. For a while they remained tightly in an embrace, whispering loving words to each other, until finally Draco lifted her in his arms and carried her to bed. There he laid her down, looking down at her from above, admiring her body. Naked and beautiful as she was created, she lay before him.
"Beautiful," he whispered as he did not take his eyes from her body.
The young woman looked at him, admiring the slender but quite powerful and well-trained body. His cock was already aroused and she almost feared that he might be too big for her.
"Come to me, Draco," she whispered, reaching out to him, an invitation which he gently took. He half lay on top of her, careful not to burden her with his weight. Her warm body felt so wonderful that he sighed in pleasure. He could clearly feel her breasts nestling against his skin.
Y/N's hands slid over his shoulders as he moved his arms under her back, and put one hand on the back of her neck, to support her a bit while he kissed her tenderly. The young woman literally melted in his arms.
"Y/N"
He whispered her name.
"I want to touch you. I want to kiss every part of your body..."
At his words, the young woman sighed with anticipation.
"Then touch me, Draco," she replied as she took his hand and placed it on her breast. Draco grabbed hold of her firm and delicious flesh, moaning deep in arousal.
The young man bent down to her breasts and instantly closed his lips around the rosy bud. A soft, lustful gasp was heard from his lover as he began sucking on her nipple. Her fingers buried themselves in his blond hair, pressing him closer to feel more of that intense sensation. When Draco heard how much she liked what he was doing, he became even more passionate. His hand moved down her body. First over her hip, then further and further down until he reached the sensitive spot between her thighs. An audible sigh escaped her pretty lips as Draco caressed her and she opened her legs for him, allowing him more room to play. Draco looked up at her with a confident smile, and the lust that was visible on her face was one of the most beautiful things he had ever seen. He grinned, sliding his tongue around the hard bud as he did so, and he could already feel on his fingers how wet she was getting from his touch. With a soft smack, he let go of her nipple, kissing his way down her body with hunger and desire. Y/N blushed as she realized how close he was getting to her pussy and before she could think about it any further, she saw him already lying between her legs. Full of pleasure, she bit her lips and couldn't wait to be licked by him.
Draco's hands gently ran over her thighs and he looked at her beautiful womanhood; this sight aroused him very much and her scent overwhelmed him. The young man looked up at her, wanting to make sure that what he was doing was okay. Her beautiful eyes looked at him with curiosity and she reached out to him, stroking through his hair.
"May I?" he asked softly, with the thought of tasting her driving him mad with lust. He moistened his lower lip with the tip of his tongue as he waited for an answer from her. He would have loved to throw himself over her, making love at her like mad. However, Draco was not to wait long for a response as she nodded at him, and she saw Draco lower his face between her thighs. The moment Draco's tongue caressed her clitoris, her head fell back into the soft pillows.
His tongue circled her pearl, then drove between the wet, soft cleft of her inner labia. Letting her delicious nectar melt on his tongue, Y/N reached into his hair and clawed at it, making Draco hum softly. It was a contented hum that testified to how much he was enjoying this. The young woman kept panting lustfully as he licked her and sucked on her swollen labia. She thought she was going to lose her mind.
"Draco!"
This time she moaned a little louder, her body arching up and her legs began to tremble. Her climax would not be long in coming, that much was certain. As his tongue slid into her wet opening, she felt endless pleasure. She had never experienced anything so wonderful before. Draco took his time with her and gave her what was good for her.
"D-Draco..."
Suddenly she was overcome with such a violent orgasm that she cried out loud. Draco looked up at her, his gaze full of desire for her. His hands held her by the hips so there was no escape from his tongue. She felt hot, very hot, and her heart was hammering madly against her chest. Her climax ebbed only slowly and she enjoyed every single moment.
Draco spread soft kisses over her inner thighs, possessing himself one last time over her sweet, wet center that shimmered brilliantly before kissing his way up her body.
Y/N could taste herself as Draco kissed her on the mouth; it was an unfamiliar sensation, but an arousing one at the same time.
Her throbbing center yearned for Draco and she felt his thick shaft pressing against her thigh, eagerly waiting to finally plunge into her.
"Y/N"
Draco watched her from under half lowered lids as Y/N nestled her abdomen against his, feeling the velvety tip of his cock pressing against her clit.
"Draco, I need you," she whispered with lust. The blond man reached between their two bodies for his erected penis, rubbing it first against her wet labia before gently pushing himself inside her.
Y/N's gaze moved down, wanting to watch him slide into her, finally making her his.
Her fingers clawed into his forearms and she looked up into his handsome face, which contorted with lust as he penetrated her inch by inch. Y/N let her head sink back into the pillow as she joined him in letting out a moan of pleasure.
He didn't move at first, wanting to let this wonderful feeling of being inside her take effect on him. When he bent down to her, his lips touched her face. He kissed her temple and let his lips brush over her eyebrow. When she lowered her lashes, he kissed her eyelid very gently. His tongue slid over her cheek, and finally his lips took her mouth in possession. He kissed her with such tenderness that she melted. She noticed the scent of the man she was hugging - fresh mint, and his kisses tasted the same. She opened her mouth to his searching tongue and gave in to his desire. Draco gripped her bare tit with the palm of his hand, stroking the tip of her nipple with his thumb. She moaned out as a shiver of purest pleasure took possession of her body. His hands moved down her body, the hot touch of his fingers on her naked flesh arousing her deeply. Clinging to him, she enjoyed his taste and scent, as well as the feeling of him deep inside her. Her soft curves pressed against the hard length of his body. When he began thrusting into her, they moaned together and Draco reached for her hand, letting his fingers slide between hers as he made love to her. She was tight and warm. When he felt her thigh brush against his, fire shot through his loins. Gasping and moaning, he thrust himself into her, sliding out of her silky cunt, and back in again and again.
Lust filled voices and the scent of her arousal was in the air.Y/N couldn't remember the last time she had been this happy. Draco was gentle, whispering sweet words to her over and over, which made her smile, but blush at the same time.
"Draco... this is so good..."
"Mmmm..."
Draco looked down at this beautiful woman and by God, what a glorious feeling that was!
"You're mine, Y/N..."
Draco was possessive, yes. But he wanted to make it clear once and for all that she didn't belong to her husband Jericho. That man didn't deserve her and he would never keep her with him.
"Say it, Y/N... I want to hear it."
"I'm yours, Draco..."
And to him alone. Her thoughts only circled around the young Malfoy and Jericho was completely forgotten at the moment. She would come again tonight, she felt it clearly and Draco was already starting to come. His thrusts became a little rougher, a little less precise and his abdomen began to tremble. Y/N pressed her lover against her, her fingers dipped in his blond hair, she moaned his name in his ear, and finally her climax burst upon her and took her into the sky. He thrust himself hard into her, clawing hard into her hips, and then when the wave of lust overtook him, he pulled out of her and squirted his seed onto her belly. This sight was pure sin and Draco more than enjoyed seeing her satisfied and happy. The cum was sticking to her skin, which was more than tempting. A soft purr left his lips as he finally leaned down to her and tenderly kissed her sweet mouth. His eyes showed pure love as he looked at her. Gently, he stroked through her full hair, then slid his thumb gently across her cheek. Her beautiful eyes shimmered like two stars and he saw the tears that had built up in them. But Y/N smiled, for she was so happy and this feeling literally overwhelmed her, finally began to cry. Draco kissed each tear from her cheeks, whispering loving words to her and Y/N, could not believe her luck.
Draco lied down next to her. Somewhat exhausted, but completely filled with happiness, he closed his eyes before pulling Y/N to his chest. A blissful sigh left her lips as she snuggled against his warm body. But as soon as Y/N would get out of bed and touch the floor, this beautiful moment would burst. Like a bubble…
♦♦♦♦
Tenderly, Draco stroked through her hair as her face rested against his chest and she stroked his skin. She had seen the large scars on his forearm, but hadn't spoke to  him about it. Each injury had its own story.
"I have to go soon, Draco..."
But Draco didn't want to hear that at all. However, he could not stop her. He still didn't understand why she wanted to go back to Jericho. She had no business there anymore! Her place was here, by his side.
"I don't want to let you go to him, Y/N," he whispered, and she looked up at him. "I can't stand the thought of him touching you... Stay here. You don't have to go back to him."
"I have to, Draco. The potion will lose its effect in a few hours."
"The potion?"
He raised his brows in surprise when she spoke of a potion. Now Draco understood why it had been possible for her to sneak out of the house at such a late hour.
"Yes. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible for me to be with you at all."
And she would continue to give this potion to him. It was an elaborate potion, but it was damn effective; if prepared properly. However, the young woman did not mention that she had bought the potion in a store in Knockturn Alley...
"Well, well. The Gryiffindor is using the tricks of a Slytherin. I guess there is a little Slytherin behind that cute shell of yours though?"
The young woman laughed softly.
"I'm still a Gryiffindor. But I'm in love with a Slytherin."
When Draco heard this, his expression became quite serious and yet his eyes radiated so much love.
"I love you, Y/N."
And with a deep kiss he testified his words...

Hot Lifeguard (Emily Sonnett x reader)
My first story. Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language. Opened for  suggestions.
Tumblr media
It was just another day at work. Days like this were one of my favorites. Just a few people at the beach and less people in the water, that is almost the perfect scenario for a lifeguard. Because normally that means no incidents. My shift was almost over, just one more hour and I could go home to prepare for dinner tonight with my girlfriend.
Right now I am sitting at the cabbing along with Josh, my partner for the day.
“No fucking way” I heard Josh yell while loking at something through the glass.
“What? What did you see?” I asked “You’re not going to believe who just arrived at the beach” “Well, if you give me the binoculars I could see by myself.” “There is no need to. Look at the group over there.” He said pointing to a place in the sand “Okay, I’m looking but I’m not getting it.”
Just as I said that I saw a blond girl running a few meters at the sand and trying to do a cartwheel on the sand and failing miserably, ending with her butt at the sand. Yep, now I know of who Josh is talking about.
“Girl, that is the US women’s soccer team, seems like the whole team is in here.” He was really excited “Josh, clean it right here…” (I rubbed my hand on my chin and he copied me) “Why?” He asked, after seeing nothing on her hand “You’re drooling.” “Oh, fuck up.” She pushes me and keeps looking at the team, it wasn’t the whole team but is probably half of the girls.
“Okay, I’m gonna say hi. Do you wanna come?” Josh asked me “You can go, someone has to stay here and actually do the work.” Josh rolled his eyes but got the walktalk. “Fine, I would tell them you say hi, I’m bringing the walktalk” “Go there looser.”
I was just watching a few surfers at the beach, when I looked to my left and saw Josh coming back with the group of girls following him. He gave me a sign for me to come down.
“So Y/n these are the players from USWNT and girls this is Y/n.” “Hi girls, I actually know you all, I’m a big fan, you’re all badasses.” “Thank you. We heard that so was you.” Ashlyn said and Alex followed. “Josh here went to say hi and told us that his coworker was a woman and a badass so we needed to come check out.” “Well, it’s my pleasure to meet you.”
“For how long have you been working here?” Ali asked. “In this part of the beach not much, but as a lifeguard, 10 years.” The girls were shocked “Oh, 10 years? Sorry to ask but how old are you?” “25” “You can be a lifeguard while you’re 15?” “Yes. I was a good swimmer and at a young age I started to learn surfing, I always loved the water. So one day I got the opportunity to be a lifeguard at a waterpark near home, since then I never stopped. And soon as I had enough experience to be a lifeguard at the beach I moved and here I am.” Tobin spoke this time. “So do you also surf?” Before I could answer, Josh interrupted us “Oh yeah, this is almost like an unofficial rule to be a lifeguard, and Y/n is like the best here. Sorry girls, but I’ll go upstairs and check the beach” “Bye Josh, it was a pleasure to meet you.” The girls said and then looked back at me.
“I’m probably not that good, but yes I can surf.” “We would love to see that, it’s a shame you’re at work.” Tobin answered. “Isn’t your shift ending?” Emily spoke this time, I looked at her and the sun was hitting her face, making her blue eyes shine, she is so beautiful. “Yeah, actually. I have probably just one more hour left.”
“So what about you meeting us after it and we can see how good you actually are?” Ashlyn asked me with a smirk. “That is a challenge Ashlyn?” “You can bet on it.” Ali smacks Ashlyn in the back of her head. “Ashlyn, you can’t go out challenging people.” “Just a moment girls.”
I interrupted whoever was saying, as soon as I spotted something on the ocean. I climbed the ladder from the cabin and called for Josh. “Josh!” “Yeah boss!” “Look at the water, 10 o’clock. What do you see?” “There is noth… shit looks like two people. Maybe kids. Go!” I jump in the sand and get the surfboard. “Sorry girls, and it’s a bet Ash.” I ran as fast as I could toward the people, wishing this day could end as good as it started.
As I was getting closer to them I noticed that one of them was a little girl, around 5 years old and the other was a boy around 12 years old. I was going as fast as I could but it looked like it wasn't enough. As I was about to get to them, the boy pushed the girl up, and sank. Fuck!
“Help! Lucas!” I got the girl, put her over the board and tried to find the boy but he didn’t get back up. What should I do? I looked up and saw the girl was using diving glasses. “Can you lend me this? Okay, look, you see these ropes? Hold them as strong as you can and don’t let them go. I’ll get Lucas.”
I know it look like a stupid ideia, let the girl up there by herself, but if I wait for Josh to get here the boy could be dead. So I got in the water and dived trying to find the boy. I surf back up, check with the little girl, get some breath and dive back. I was almost giving up when I felt something on my left leg and when I looked at it was him. So I get his hand and rise back. “Lucas!!” I got back on the board, laid him down and asked for the girl to sit in front of me holding the ropes. He’s unconscious, I need to get to the beach as fast as possible.
I got to the beach and Josh was already there with the equipment and said he had already called an ambulance. I barely got that, the boy was my first priority, I looked up and saw the national team girls were close. “Hey little girl, you see these women over there?” She nodded. “Stay with them, for me to take care of Lucas okay?” She didn’t want to let go of him, must be her brother. Probably noticing my expression, Emily came over and got the girl, she started to scream. But my focus was somewhere else now. The boy wasn’t breathing, so I started the compression. “Come on, come on. Spit the water. Come on Lucas, you can do it.” I must be doing it for like 1 minute, but it felt like an hour, when the boy spit the water. “Good boy. Calm down, you’re safe now.” I put him on oxigen, and the ambulance arrived just in time as he regained consciousness. “Hey boy, what’s your name?” The paramedic asked. “Lucas.” “Hi, Lucas. My name is Daniel and I’m a paramedic and I’m going to help you okay? How old are you?” “12. Where is my sister?” “Hey Lucas, it’s okay, she is over there, stay calm okay.”
I looked back at the girl and went to calm her down. “Hey little girl, how are you?” She came running for my arms. “Lucas?” She asked while crying in my arms. “He is better now, you see? He is talking with the doctors now. Where are your parents sweety?” “Don’t know.” And as it was agreed the mother shows up. “Lucas? Lucy?” “Mom!” The little girl ran to the women's arms. “Where is Lucas?” “Hi Mrs, my name is Y/N. Lucas is over there being taken care of. Do you know what happened?” “No, I told them that I was going to get some water and when I came back they weren’t there so I started to freak out and I saw the comotion here.” They start to take the boy to the ambulance. “Okay, Mrs…” “Grey” “Mrs. Grey, they are taking Lucas to the ambulance right now, they will check on him, he drowned trying to save his sister, I’m going to explain everything to you until we get to the ambulance, can you just pack your stuff? Are you alone here?” “Yes, my husband is at work. And I already packed everything, it is in here.” “Good, come on. And I would like Lucy to have a check up as well, she hasn’t drowned but she could have drunk some water. We don’t want to take risks right?” With that I went up to the ambulance with the mom and then let the paramedics do their job. I hope the kid stays good.
I went back to the post and Josh was there. “What a way to end the shift right?” “Thank god, I found the boy under water. Otherwise it would ruin the day.” “Yeah, and the super boss shows up again to save the day.” “Stop.” “Fine, now get out of here. There are some people waiting for you. Go have some fun.” I had completely forgotten about them, time to go say hi, again.
Emily pov
We were still excited about what just happened at the beach.
“She is totally a badass, she was just talking with us and still caught the kids drowning in the water.” Tobin said. “When she left the girl alone at the board I was like ‘what is she doing?’ and then she just got the boy under water, that was amazing.” Christen said “That’s why she is the boss.” Ali complement.
“Okay, but let’s not forget how hot she is. When she ran toward the water, it was just like we were in Baywatch, and her body. God!” “Kelley!!” “What Linds, is not like you don’t agree with me you were drooling watching her doing her job.” Kelley fought back. “I was not…” Lindsey said pouting, Megan put a hand on her shoulder and said. “Sorry Linds but you totally were. But that’s fine, she is hot as fuck and I think that half of the girls here were drooling, even the “straight” ones”.  She intensifies the quotation marks.
Then Christen intervened. “She also looks like a good person, she looks smart, determined and kind. You saw her with the little girl?” “Hey, I don’t have a competition do I?” Tobin protested. “Of course not babe, but she may be good for some other girls here. And watch out cause she is coming here.”
I looked behind me and Y/N was coming over, she had changed off her uniform and was now just in her swimming suit, a backpack and a surfboard. She was more beautiful, if that was even possible and hotter.
“Hey girls, my shift is just over. So I remembered that one of you challenged me on surfing. So I want to know if she is still up to it?” Ash stood up “Oh yeah, game on bitch. Tobs, Kell are you coming?” “Of course, let’s go.” Both of them replied.
Some girls went along with them for the water, others decided to take a walk on the sand and others were just going to lay and get a tan. Before Y/N followed the girls to the water she came near me. “So, beautiful, can I put my stuff here near you?” “I think so.” “Good, you’re not coming?” “Not today.” “Okay, be right back.” She winked at me and left toward the ocean.
I sat back in the sand and just watched her get some waves with the girls, she was stunning. Of course she was winning the challenge, but who cares, everyone was just amazed by her.
I was contemplating her beauty when Moe sat beside me and asked. “So, are you gonna spill the beans?” “There is nothing to spill. Don’t know what you are talking about?” “You sure do. If you do nothing the others will keep flirting with her and who knows what could happen.” I look at her shocked. “It’s in your eyes Sonny.”
An hour later everyone came back from the water and we went to play some footvolley. We paired everyone up and Y/N ended up being my partner. She was amazing at that and we had a lot of fun. She was flirting with me the whole time and I was hoping the girls weren't noticing it.
We stopped playing and were getting ready to leave, when Kelley whispered in my ear. “You better do something girl, she is flirting with you the whole day, everyone noticed. If you don’t do something we will.” “I don’t know what you are talking about.” She just shaked her head and went toward Ash and Tobin, whispered something to them and they went to Y/N.
“So Y/n, we had a lot of fun today and we really wanted to get to know you better. Tell us a little bit more about you.” Tobin asked. “Well, you already know I’m 25 and am a lifeguard. I graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in exercise and sports science. I give surf classes for kids and I’m also a coach for some amatour surfer athletes. And I’m a sports lover.”
“Wait, too much information. You’re a surf coach?” Ashlyn asked incredibly. “Yeah? Sorry but you were the one who made the bet.” “That explains a lot.”
Becky was the one to speak now. “You went to Virginia? That’s awesome me too, so does Moe and Sonnett, but it doesn’t have a beach there.” “Yeah, I know. I took a pause from the beach while I was studying and worked at a waterpark over there.”
“I got a question…” Oh no, Kelley shut up. “Are you single?” With that Y/N wined her eyes and blush a little, she looked at me and then back to Kelley.
“No?” “You don’t seem too sure about that.” Tobin interjected. “I mean, no, I’m not single. But we haven’t told anyone besides family yet, so…” “Wait a second, so you’re not single? Are you sure? I’m way confused right now.” “Yeah, I’m sure. She actually loves soccer, she loves you guys.”
While the rest of the girls started asking other questions for Y/n. Kelley looked at me with a ‘sorry dude’ look. I understand why she was like that, I mean Y/n was indeed flirting with me, everyone was probably confused as to why she was flirting with me if she has a girlfriend. But they were clueless and I was having a lot of fun with it, so I decided to enjoy it a little bit more and so I spoke up.
“Hey Y/N we actually have the whole day off, so we were thinking of hanging out together and going out for dinner. What do you say? Wanna come?” Y/N looked at me with a intrigued look, but agreed either way. “Yeah, I would love to.”
“Your girlfriend would be okay with that?” Ashlyn asked. “Yeah she wouldn’t mind.”
“Maybe you can call her right now and talk to her just to make sure?” I said, Y/n was really confused right now, she was trying to understand what I mean with that. I just nodded and saw a smirk appear on her face. “Yeah, that will be great.” Some girls looked at me, don’t getting what I was doing. Christen added. “And if you want to invite her, you said she was a fan, we can surprise her if you want to” “Of course, it will be fun”.
Y/n got her phone and made the call. “So who is gonna talk?” Y/N look at me and I nod toward Kelley. “O’hara you think you can do it? She would love that?” Y/n asked “Of course. What's her name again?” “Oh, you don’t need that” She looked at her phone and back at me, I gave her a reassuring look as she started to talk.
“Hi babe. So I’m at the beach now, and there are some girls here that want to say hi to you.” She put on speaker for everyone to hear. “Hi. It’s Kelley O’hara here, and you are talking with half of the national team.” Silent went over the line, the girls started looking at each other and Y/n spoke.
“She is probably in shock, can you tell her about the dinner?” “Yeah, so we just asked Y/n if she wants to come to dinner with us and we also would like to invite you, so what do you say?” I waited a moment and answered on my phone. “I would love to, but I thought that as I was the one who made the invitation I was already invited.”
Everyone looked at me and then back to Y/n, they were in shock. Y/n has that stupid smile on her face that I love so much and answered. “That’s good babe, can’t wait.” We just kept looking at each other's eyes. Oh god, I love this girl so much. When Kelley yelled.
“Wait a minute. Why did you call Sonnett?” “Well you asked for me to call my girlfriend. So I did.” Y/n spoke with a smirk on her face “The Emily Sonnett, this girl here is your girlfriend?” “Hey, what do you mean by that? I can’t date a hot girl?”
With that I went to Y/n side, hugged her and she gave me a peck “And you let me, no, you let us, drool over you girlfriend and didn’t say a thing?” I couldn’t get the smile out of my face. “It was funny and I didn’t know yet if she was going to be okay with that.” “That is no excuse, you should have told me, it is not like I was going to tell the world.” Kelley complained and crossed her arms on her chest. “Okay Kelley, less drama. We are happy for you Sonny.” “Thanks Chris, someone here is mature.”
“Wait, does it mean that now we have to give Y/n the shovel talk?” Tobin asked with a serious face. “No!” I protest. “Sorry Sonnett, we have to, it's the team's rules.” Ash responded. “That’s okay babe, I can take it.”
“Fine, but only if Moe gets to be there.” “What? Why? Moe can’t hurt a fly” Becky said. “Because she will make sure you don’t scare Y/n away, she will be on her side.” “Why would she do that?” “Babe you can’t ask Moe that, just because she is my friend.” “Wait, Moe knew?” Kelley said, trying to look hurt. “Way to throw me under the bus Sonny.” Moe complained.
“Of course, she helped me with the plan of asking Y/n out. We studied together, you forgot?” “Of course you were all Cavaliers. That’s it Y/n you are coming with us for dinner, there is no space for debate. We need to see if you are good for Sonnett. Let’s go everyone” With Megan orders everyone start to go back to where the vans were. I got my stuff and I was about to follow the girls, when Y/n pulled my arm.
“Hey hot stuff, I missed you.” She passed her arms over my shoulders and I hugged her waist. “Hi babe, I missed you too. Sorry about doing it without asking you first. But when the girls pulled over and I saw which beach we were at and that you were here, I started thinking about it, and then you were so hot saving the boy, and the girls liked you so much, and they saw you flirting with me, so…” I was interrupted by a kiss. Y/n ’s lips were so soft and rough at the same time. The way she pulls me closer to her and deepens the kiss, I miss her so much.
“That’s okay honey. I loved meeting your teammates.” “What do you say about us skipping dinner? I really missed your lips...” I kissed her lips. “Your neck...” I kissed her neck, and started to touch her body. “I missed all of this, your body is perfect.” She gave a large sigh and pushed me away “Even though I would love to go to our house and make out with you for the rest of the night. I'm sure the girls wouldn’t approve of it. Let’s go, as soon as we get to dinner, sooner you can get this body.” “Nooo, I’m really regretting telling the girls today.” “The good point is that now you don’t have to sneak out anymore, you can always say you are going out with your girlfriend.” “Okay, but one last thing.” I gave her a passionate kiss, until we heard the girls yelling at us from afar. “I love you Y/n.” “I love you too Em. Now let’s go.” We intercalated our hands and walked to where the girls were waiting for us. This night was amazing and now I can say to the world that the Hot Lifeguard is mine.

Keep calm and carnival on
A/N: @deangirldream requested a fluffy fluff. Thank you for it! ^^ It was a joy to write it. I was trying to put jokes and a lot of fluff to it. I hope you like it. 🙂
Summary: You went to see your clown at work and you ended behind a tent with your face painted up by Carnival. Cause you as his clown girlfriend have to look like one!
Words count:2016
Tumblr media
It was a long weekend as most people had three days off of work and almost everyone had some plans of how to spend these days. Most wanted to spend it with their loved ones and you were one of them.
Unfortunately, most people didn't mean everyone, someone always had to work and this time it was Artie. He had a really busy days ahead of him. A small festival was happening in a park and Arthur as Carnival was one of the clowns that were performing there. You promised him that you'd go to see him as soon as you finished your chores, and you kept your promise as you were already heading to the park to greet him and spend some time watching him in his natural environment. There was something delightful and uplifting in how a person could thrive when they did something they loved. And watching Carnival was really joyful and entertaining.
You couldn't wait to see your boyfriend, but as soon as you got there, you realized you didn't know where to find him. It was more crowded than you expected and every few meters there was another small tent with something fun to do or to buy. Arthur had to be in one of them.
You spent some time walking aimlessly from one tent to another, enjoying the weather and a cheering atmosphere. You saw one clown but not with green curls and you waved to Gary as you noticed him in a crowd. He waved you back and pointed to the right, showing you where you could find Arthur. Sweet Gary, he was as helpful as always.
Your feet took you to the green tent as you almost ran the rest of your way there. There was a small group of people standing in front of it, mostly children so you didn't have a problem to see your favorite clown dancing and singing a song to kids. They were all amused and laughing, and you could see it was giving Carnival a motivation to put even more effort into his performance. You stood there for a moment, enjoying him dancing, and looking at kids happy faces. There was only you and Carnival and the happy crowd, nothing else. No problems, no work, no shitty people, no difficult situations. One of those rare happy moments that you wanted to frame in your mind so you could come back to it any time.
Carnival made a cute spin with his hands threw aside in a comical and ending manner as he finished his dance with a bow. He spotted you and sent you a big smile before he waved his hand to you, showing to come to him now. His gesture was a bit theatrical and funny, but Arthur liked to stay in his character for as long as he could.
- Hi there, Carnival - you said with a smile before you came closer to give him a kiss to his cheek. But as you leaned towards him, your foot tripped on his big clowny shoe and you fell on him. He caught your arms and chuckled.
- You can't help it but fall for me, ha? - he joked.
- What can I say? - you shrugged - Your charm is irresistible.
You leaned again, this time without stumbling, and gave him a peck on his cheek. He smiled and you were sure he blushed, but the white paint covered the redness.
- Mr Caaarnivaaal - a soft squealing voice came from behind you - Is that your wiiife?
You looked behind you at a small girl with a lollipop and you gave her a smile.
- Soon to be, yeah. She's my girlfriend - Carnival responded, his voice full of proud, and you turned your head to him so fast you could hear something in your neck cracked.
What? Did he mean it?
He didn't look at you but he noticed the surprised look on your face. His hand found yours and gave it a squeeze.
- But she's not a clown? - the little girl questioned with a suspicious stare. For her the only proper girlfriend for a clown was of course another clown. Simple as that.
- How can you tell she's not? - Carnival leaned down to her height level and raised an eyebrow.
- Because she's not looking like one.
- Oh! You're right - a faked shock appeared on his face - we should change that than, shouldn't we?
The little girl nodded approvingly and Carnival chuckled before he pulled you with him.
- One moment, smart one - he said to her while pointing his index finger up in the air as you both disappeared behind the green tent.
- What are you doing? - you asked with curiosity - You want to changed me into one of your kind?
Mhmh - he nodded smirking - Wait a moment, ok?
He went into the tent and after a moment you saw him back with two stools and a set of grease paints and brushes.
- Are you serious? - you chuckled as he asked you to sit - Can you even disappear behind the tent like that? Won't Hoyt be angry?
- I'm on a break - he shrugged - Besides... - he reached into his pocket for a pack of cigarettes and a lighter - I haven't smoked for four freaking hours.
He lightened the cigarette and took a deep breath.
- Better? - you asked as you watched a ball of smoke leaving his mouth.
He nodded with a smirk as he took another puff and sat down on the other stool.
You sat down too and watched as he was setting up his supplies, putting them on a grass, choosing the right brushes and colors for you.
- Alright - he said with a smile as he picked up a large brush - Let's get it started.
You giggled like a child when he leaned towards you with a white paint on the top of the brush. The smell of it was familiar to you, since you smell it often from Arthur. You tasted it a bit even when you were kissing him with the greasepaint still on his face. But you'd never known the feeling of it on your own skin. When he was slowly painting your face, starting from your cheek, you closed your eyes and focused on how that felt. The paint wasn't cold as you thought it would be, the smell was stronger, yet bearable. It tickled sometimes, especially around your mouth.
- How does it feel? - his voice came closer to you.
- Nice.
When he finished painting your face white - the blank canvas he needed to create his work - he picked up the smaller brush, more pointed, and chose the first color to frame your eyes with. He told you to keep your eyes closed, and your chin had been lifted as he carefully started coloring your eyes. The smell of greasepaint mixed with the smell of a cigarette and you wrinkled your nose.
- That was cute - he said as he picked up another brush to put a different color on you. This time red. This was going to be your new smile. Oh, that was going to be great. He had a chance to put a smile on your face, but in a different way than usual. This time it was going to be almost permanent. He was sure you'd look beautiful when he finished.
- That's tickling - you chuckled as he brushed the paint across your lips.
- I know. It's like that until you get used to it.
- Am I going to look like you? - you opened your eyes. You wished there was a mirror so you could look at yourself.
- No, a little different. I'm using colors that you like the most.
- Oh, that's going to be awesome.
He nodded and took the cigarette between his lips. It was hanging from his mouth as he leaned a bit closer to you, putting his free hand on your tight. He wanted to touch you, he hadn't touched you much today and the last time was 10 minutes ago when you fell into his arms. You were more addicting than cigarettes.
- Now hush, sweety, we don't want you to have red teeth. It would scare the kids away.
You smirked as you watched his eyebrows knitting together in concentration. His eyes got those more intense look as he very precisely was drawing lines on your face. It was exciting and fascinating to watch him doing something artistic, something he liked to do. You could see it in his eyes, that he was excited too and he was very focused on you. This extra attention was making you feel like a princess. Clown princess. You would even like that title.
He inhaled the last time before taking the cigarette from his mouth to throw it onto the ground.
- Done! - he tilted his head as he admired his work, checking if everything was done correctly - You look beautiful.
- I wish I could see myself now. I don't have any mirror.
- There's a mirror inside the tent. You can look at yourself while dressing up.
- Dressing up?
- Yeah, there's a trunk there too. I think there should be a costume you could try on.
- Wait, you want me to perform?- you laughed as you got up - I don't know how.
- You know how, you watched me so many times. We will dance together and sing songs. It's easy you'll see - he said hyped as he took your hand in his - and you can make animals from balloons with me.
- Artie... - you chuckled but agreed to his idea - you know the only animal I can make from a balloon is a snake.
- That will do - he chuckled.
You helped him with supplies and he left you inside the tent, giving you time to dress up. You couldn't wait and you looked in a mirror to see what he'd created on your face. You were amazed. The colors he picked, your favorite ones, were very vibrant and he did an amazing job bringing them together into something colorful and matching.
You wanted to admire his work longer, but at the same time you didn't want him to wait for you.
You looked around and found the trunk. You opened it and picked up the first costume that was there. It was a little too big for you, but was comfortable enough to dance with it. And it even matched Carnival's outfit. After a while you decided to stay in your shoes however, there was no way you could dance or even walk in those big clown ones. You wondered how Arthur could do it.
When you were ready you went outside and when Arthur saw you he did that funny little jumps clapping his hands with excitement. You laughed as you walked over to him to stand beside him. He took your hand and swirled you around before he looked at the small girl that was still there, sucking on her lollipop. Her eyes opened wide in shock. Your transformation was spectacular to her.
You swayed shyly to the rhythm of a song playing somewhere in the background. Arthur was already doing a little dance facing you as he swirled you around one more time. You tried to mimic his movement and have fun, and soon you both were facing the crowd, doing some funny silly dance together. The kids were curious and seemed to like you.
The small girl came to you pulling her lollipop out of her mouth.
- You are Ms Carnival! - she said as she smiled at you.
You nodded and smiled back as you glanced at your boyfriend. You started to enjoy it more and more, gaining some confidence along the way. It indeed was easy like Arthur said. Actually, with Arthur, everything seemed to be easy. If you already didn't have a job, you could maybe work at Haha's with Arthur. You could just dance and sing and play around and entertain kids. You wouldn't have to do anything else and kids still would be impressed.
The girl pulled you by your sleeve bringing you down to Earth.
- Can you do any tricks?
Oh no.

Hot Days and Fistfights
Pairing: Reader x Miya Atsumu
Genre: Kinda Angsty + Fluff
He doesn’t know whether to be proud or scared that his girlfriend can beat someone twice the size of her up. All he knows is that he’s glad she’s okay.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
“It’s too hot for this, ‘Tsumu.” Y/N whines, swinging their clasped hands back and forth as they walk down the street. They were heading over to his house after having spent time together at one of the local parks.
“Must be my presence.” He sends a grin her way when she rolls her eyes and elbows him in the side.
“You know what? You’re right, but if Osamu were here it would be scorching.”
“I-...you’re supposed to be on my side, babe!” he whines, tugging at her arm. He starts going off on a tangent about why he’s the better twin, and Y/N ignores him for the most part. She hums under her breath as they walk, but stops suddenly when she spots a convenience store.
“-and honestly, who the hell wants grey hair? Mine is clearly-”
“Let’s get ice-cream.” she cuts him off, pulling him along to the store. He sighs but agrees, the cold treat sounding like a good idea to cool off. The store is a little crowded so Atsumu asks her to stay outside and wait for him. She complies easily, having no desire to be stuck in a confined place full of sweaty people.
She leans against one of the walls next to the store, and looks around her. It was just about time for sunset, the sky blossoming with graceful colours of orange and yellow. Maybe she would ask Atsumu if she could stay over for the night. She contemplates the idea, but her attention I caught by a young woman, around her age she thinks, nearly brushes past her. She looks nervous and keeps glancing behind her.
Y/N’s about to call after her to ask if she’s alright, but someone beat her to it. Unfortunately the other person's intentions aren’t as pure as hers.
“Oi! Come back here. Stop ignoring me.” The woman stops abruptly and turns around.
“I told you to leave me alone, sir.” her voice shakes a little. Y/N can tell what’s happening and she doesn’t like it. Not one bit.
“Aw, don’t be like that.” The man in question moves closer to her. He’s dressed shabbily and Y/N nearly gags from the putrid smell of tobacco, even though she’s a good few meters away from him. “I can show you a good time. Gimme a chance, sweetheart.” he smirks, moving loser to her. The woman backs away fearfully, and squeaks when he grabs her arm and pulls her towards him. Y/N has seen enough.
“Hey! She told you to leave her alone.” She moves over to them, scowling. “Piss off.”
“Oh? Feisty, aren’t we?” he grins, but doesn’t let go of the woman, who’s looking at Y/N with scared eyes. It infuriates her.  “And what are you going to if I don’t, hmm?”
“Last chance. Let her go and fuck off.”
“How about no. Someone needs to teach you-” Y/N cuts him off by clocking him straight in the jaw. The man stumbles backwards in surprise and groans in pain. He winces before looking back at Y/N angrily. Stepping in front of the woman, who just stands there frozen, he says.
“She clearly wants nothing to do with you. People might get the wrong idea, seeing filth like you touch others like that.” She shakes out her hand, turning back to the stunned woman, making sure she’s okay.
Y/N has no time to react, before she’s knocked to the ground. Clenching her jaw as she feels a stinging pain on her forehead, she turns onto her back and attempts to stand. Spotting the man scowling down at her, she glares at him before kicking at his knee abruptly, sending him to the ground.
“You little-” he’s cut off again by a swift blow to his face. Y/N’s yelling profanities at him and showing no mercy as she strikes him again and again. She can vaguely hear the woman screaming behind her, yelling for someone to help break the scuffle.
She suddenly feels someone grab her waist and easily lift her off the man. Struggling against the tight grip, she whips to see her boyfriend.
“Oi. Calm down.” he pushes her behind him and hands her the plastic bag he’s holding. Turning back to the man with a glare, he says.
“What the fuck do ya think you’re doin, touching my girl?” The man responds with a groan and looks up, glaring. He falters however, when he sees Atsumu towering over him instead of Y/N. His eyes widen as he realises he’s no match for the boy, Atsumu being taller and looking visibly stronger than himself. Scoffing, he scrambles to his feet and shoots the two women a nasty look, before turning away and briskly walking away.
Sighing, Atsumu turns back to Y/N, who’s being thanked profusely by the other lady. She waves her offers to repay her off, and assures her she’ll be alright. The wince Y/N lets out when she shakes the woman's hand doesn’t get past Atsumu’s observant gaze. When she leaves, Y/N turns to her boyfriend.
“She was getting harassed, Tsumu. I had to help her.” She mumbles, gaze dropping to the floor. She was a little embarrassed she had lost it like that back there. She hears him step closer to her and feels him hook a finger under her chin. When he tilts her head up to meet her gaze, she’s startled to see him grinning proudly.
“That’s my girl! Holy shit, babe, when I saw you beating the living shit out of that guy, I thought I was dreaming!”
“Yeah, well...he deserved it.”
“You bet he did. Did he hurt you?” his voice changes to one form pride and awe to concern. He grabs her hand in his own larger, warmer ones, and brings them close to his face to inspect them. He furrows his eyebrows when he sees a couple of her knuckles had split and were bleeding sluggishly. He looks up at her, and his eyes widen in surprise as he sees her bleeding from a cut near the top of her forehead. He wipes at the blood with his palm gently, to which Y/N winces and bats his hand away.
“If I ever see him again, I swear I’ll-”
“He’s gone. I’m alright.”
He takes a steadying breath and nods. “It’s not far now. Ya think you can walk?” he gives her a small, teasing smile.
“‘Tsumu, stop being dramatic.” She huffs and starts walking. He catches up to her and they walk about 10 minutes before they reach his house. Atsumu tells Y/N to wait on the couch while he brings out a first aid kit.
He sits next to her and pulls out a bottle of disinfectant. He’s unusually gentle when he sipes the cotton over her hand.
“‘Tsumu, that stings.” she whines and tries to pull away. His grip tightens, keeping her hand in place as he continues.
“Should’ve thought about that before ya beat someone up, sweetheart.” Y/N grumbles, but gives up trying to free her hand.
He wraps her knuckles in bandages, almostly expertly, and Y/n flexes her fingers, impressed. The scratch on her head wasn’t too deep and had already stopped bleeding.
“Wow. You know what you’re doing for once.”
“Love ya too.” he smirks. “But I’m not done yet.”
“Not done yet?”
“Nope.” He shuffles closer to her, till their sides are touching. “You’re missing the most important part.”
“Is that so?” She decides to humor him. Nodding, he reaches towards her face and brushes back her hair. Bringing his mouth to her forehead, he kisses her on the scratch. “Gotta kiss it better. Obviously.” He grins, pulling her knuckles to himself and doing the same over the bandages.
“Obviously.” repeats, amused. When he tries to go for her forehead again, she leans away. “So, what about that ice-cream?”
“It melted.” He mutters, leaning forward, trapping her between the couch’s arm and himself. “There’s probably more in the freezer.” Y/N leans back farther, purposefully avoiding him and she laughs under her breath when he pouts.
“C’mon, babe, work with me here.”
“I’m fine, ‘Tsumu. I just want the ice cream now.”
“You’d choose ice-cream over my kisses?” he raises an eyebrow.
“One of them is much sweeter.” she leans forward next to his ear, as if to tell him a secret. “It’s not you, by the way.” He pulls away and sits back up, crossing his arms.
“Wow, alright. Get your own ice-cream then. Ignore your boyfriend who just patched you up.”
“You're gonna make your injured girlfriend get up and get it?”
“Last time I checked, you could walk.” he points outs. She sighs and scoots closer to him. He lets him peck her on the forehead, and his face breaks into a smile.
“Was that so hard? You’re welcome.” He stands when Y/N shoves him playfully. Grabbing a carton of chocolate ice cream from the freezer, and two bowls and spoon, he takes it back to the couch. Y/N looks at the carton and raises an eyebrow. She points to the sticky note that reads:
‘Touch this and you’re dead, ‘Tsumu.’
Atsumu leans over and plucks the note off the carton, crumpling it up and throwing it over his shoulder.
“What are you talking about?” he tilts his head innocently.
Y/N shakes her head, smiling, and grabs a bowl. He was an idiot. Looking over she sees him struggling to scoop the treat out and her smile widens.
He was her idiot though, and she was thankful to have him.
Requests are Open and Welcome

Meant to Be (Charlie Weasley x OC)
What happens when Bill brings home a girl and Charlie is completely awestruck by her?
WARNINGS: Mentions of sex and alcohol.
CHAPTER 2
Charlie
“How come you are always the last one to leave?” I chuckled at Peter’s remark.
“I’m in no hurry, I still have to feed the Chinese Fireball and you know she’s stubborn.” I turned to him, brushing the hair off my face.
“I can do it, you know I’m staying here for the holidays and you’re…” He stepped closer and snatched the bag with food in front of me. “…going to miss your portkey.”
“Are you sure?” I narrowed my eyes at him, taking off my gloves.
“Charlie, when was the last time you saw your family?” He sighed.
“About six months ago.” I actually had to think about it.
“See!” He stretched out his hand, making me give my gloves to him. “The dragons will survive without you for a few days.” He winked at me.
Perhaps he was right. I don’t know how to take a day off. If it wasn’t for Peter and my team, I would be working all the time. They are the ones who stop me here and there and get me drunk.
“I still have to pack!” I remembered.
I woke up at 5 this morning and went to feed the dragons straight away, completely forgetting I am leaving for the Burrow afterward.
“Damn it, Charlie! You always do this to me.” Peter shook his head. “I’ll fire you.”
“What for?” I chortled. “For working too hard?”
“Yes!” He laughed. “You have 30 minutes before the portkey closes. You better go now!”
“Alright, alright. I’m going.” I rolled my eyes.
“Don’t you miss your family?” He asked, concern on his face.
“Of course, I do!” I really did but I am not going to tell my boss how much. “Don’t you miss yours?”
“I do but I see them once per month, sometimes even twice. You don’t know how to take that much time off, remember?” He smirked at me.
“That’s right, keep rubbing it in my face.” I bumped his shoulder with my fist and waved at him, starting down the path towards my hut.
Did he say 30 minutes to pack and catch the portkey? He’s mental, that’s not enough time! I picked up the pace, my keys ready. I ran straight to my dresser when I entered my home and started throwing clothes on my bed.
A pair of jeans, a hat, scarf, two t-shirts. I think that’s enough for a 4-day stay! Oh, shit! I can’t go without one of mum’s jumpers. I stuck my head back in the dresser, my eyes tracking the burgundy jumper with a green dragon in it.
Where are you?
I would say that I have to reorganize my closet but I know I would never end up doing it anyway. I wear mostly the same clothes to work every day and the only time I try a bit harder to look presentable is when I go home. It’s a waste of time otherwise. Why spend the time picking an outfit when you can spend it with dragons?
There it is!
I knew I was probably going to get a new one as a Christmas present but I loved this one the most. Mum’s jumpers were the only thing I didn’t like about my job. I couldn’t wear them without completely ruining them, I loved them too much to do that so they were being untouched in my closet.
Now to get my toothbrush and that should be all. How much time I have left until my portkey closes and Peter kills me?
I leaned my head to check the clock on the kitchen wall. 10 minutes. I can make that if I run!
I was walking towards the front gate, still zipping my bag.
“Going home for the holidays, Charlie?”
Oh, no. Not now!
“Yes.” I turned around and forced a smile. “How about you, April?”
“Oh, I’m staying. Don’t really have anywhere to be.” If she is indicating that I should take her with me, she has got to be joking.
John was right, should’ve never slept with her.
“Well, a lot of our mates are staying, I’m sure you’ll be fine.” I didn’t want to be rude, but I am not bringing her home.
My mum would faint, me having a girlfriend after all these years and she really wasn’t a girl I imagined myself in a relationship with. She was too needy and wanted to be with me all the time.
First of all, I don’t have time for that and second of all, sex wasn’t that great either and we have nothing in common and…
“I just wanted to say goodbye.” She took a step toward me and I took one backward.
Please, don’t hug me!
“Bye!” I waved my hand, turned around, and ran for it.
The second I touch the portkey, I’m free!
I have to start being better at picking women. This one stalks my every move, the one before that still sends me letters and my friends are doing nothing but laughing in my face for it. Perhaps I should get better at picking friends too!
I finally reached the portkey and without turning around to see if April followed me, I touched the bottle and landed flat on my face in the forest near my family home. I dusted myself off and started towards the house.
I stopped walking about 20 meters from it. I just had to take it all in. I missed it. I missed my home, my parents, and all my siblings. I really hope Bill will be able to get time off and come too, I miss him the most even though I saw him 2 months ago when he came to visit me.
I knocked on the door and slowly opened it.
“Charlie!” Before I could put my bag down, Ginny’s hands were already around my waist. I hugged her back.
She grew so much and got stronger too.
“I missed you too, Gin.” I chuckled.
“You’re going to help me later.” She grinned and ran away before I could ask her what she needs help with.
“Charlie, dear. Welcome home!” My mum crushed me with her hug but I didn’t mind.
I might be 21 but I still loved to hug my mum as I did when I was a kid. Mum pulled away and started looking around behind me.
“I didn’t bring anyone with me, mum.” I rolled my eyes.
“Oh, Charles. Don’t tell me there aren’t any pretty girls in that Sanctuary of yours.” She scolded me.
“Mum, beauty isn’t everything. I want someone I can connect with.” She was the only one who got me to admit things like this out loud.
I know she only wants me to be happy but I’m still too young to think about settling down.
“What about that April girl. I was really hoping to meet her.” She sighed.
April? How did she know about April?
“How do you know about her?” I asked rather frightened.
I was afraid of her answer.
“She wrote to me a few months ago, telling me what a wonderful son I’ve raised. She seemed nice, did you break up with her already?” She narrowed her eyes, her hands on her hips.
She wrote to my mum?! She’s mental!
“We were never together we only slep…” I bit my tongue. My mum really didn’t have to know about my sex life. “You know what, it’s complicated.” I raised my hands in defeat.
That’s the sentence that usually keeps people from asking further questions, right?
Mum didn’t get a chance to say anything else as Fred and George came down the stairs.
“Hi, Charlie!” Fred said and ran past me and straight through the front door.
“Might want to duck!” George stopped next to me for a second before following his twin.
I quickly turned my head towards the stairs where a whistling sound was coming from. I ducked as fireworks started to go off all around the living room, kitchen, and hallway. If mum wasn’t shouting, storming past me to find the twins, I would be laughing right now.
“I see they still haven’t changed.” I said and sat next to Ron on the sofa.
“You’re lucky you were at Hogwarts with them in their early years.” Ron rolled his eyes. “They are driving mum mad. She sends them a Howler per week if not more.”
“Should I talk to them?” I chuckled.
I know I shouldn’t find this amusing but I couldn’t help it. They were the only ones of us kids that didn’t fear mum and I know a Howler is not going to stop them from wreaking havoc.
“I don’t think it’s going to help, mate. Nothing can help those two.” Ron gulped. “Nice to have you home, though.” He patted my shoulder.
Ron was always a bit awkward when it came to social interactions.
“How is school? You doing good?” I cleared my voice, pretending to be strict.
I never gave hard time to my younger siblings. It was always Bill’s job and I just helped the house from setting on fire. He was the one who kept track of the homework and even did some homeschooling when mum was too busy. I was the one who chased them around and made sure they didn’t hurt themselves.
“School’s fine, I guess.” Ron shrugged. “How’s Norbert?” He swallowed hard.
I know he thinks he can’t ask about the dragon we helped rescue in his first year. I miss Hagrid, I really do.
“Fine. Healthy and big.” I laughed. I rolled up the sleeve of my right arm and showed him a deep scar all across my forearm. “He did this.”
“Charles Weasley, what is that!” Mum seeing a new scar while being mad at the twins was a bad combination.
“Mum, it’s already healed. Don’t make a big deal out of it!” I quickly rolled my sleeve back down.
“You better tell me that this is the only new one you have!” She barked at me.
Where were Fred and George now so she could shout at them?
“Yes.” I lied.
Thank Merlin I don’t have to take off my shirt because I have a much bigger scar stretching all across my back and I know she would lose her head if she saw that one.
She eyed me suspiciously, not really believing my lie but she knew she wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. The second I got the job in the Sanctuary she flipped out. She was hoping until the last minute that I would somehow change my mind even though all I could talk about were dragons since I can remember.
I’m pretty sure dragon was the first word that came out of my mouth. At first, I cared that she was so against it but after a while I let it go. I knew she would never understand.
Nobody ever did. Not even Bill and he is my best friend. He loves his job but he wasn’t obsessing over Curse Breaking until his fourth year at Hogwarts and even then he wasn’t so into it as I was about becoming a Dragonologist.
“So Charlie are you going to help me?” Ginny squeezed between me and Ron, making him almost fall off the sofa.
“What do you need help with, Gin?” I smiled at her.
I forgot how my siblings always occupied me. I am not going to deny it, it felt great.
“I need you to help me with my Transfiguration essay.” She said, staring at the notes in her hands.
“Transfiguration?” I blinked at her. “How am I supposed to help you with that?”
I sucked at Transfiguration. Charms, okay. Astronomy, maybe. Even Defence Against the Dark Arts. But Care of Magical Creatures was the only subject I was confident I could help with.
“Have you forgotten what I do for a living?” I poked her shoulder.
“I’m joking!” She laughed. She loved messing with me. “I need to write an essay about newly hatched dragons for Care of Magical Creatures and who better to ask.” She scrambled her notes across the coffee table and gave one of the papers to me.
“What do they eat, how they behave, when can they leave their mother, how dangerous they are and how to defend yourself if you encounter one.” I read out loud.
“Easy!” I exclaimed. “Do you have your quill and paper ready?”
I clapped my hands and she stood up, grinning. She came back only seconds later with her writing equipment and sat back down.
If Peter ever fires me for working too hard perhaps I can help Hagrid with Care of Magical Creatures.
I couldn’t believe how much fun I was having helping Ginny with her essay. Answering all those questions was a piece of cake for me and I could tell that Ginny was enjoying my company.
“Mum, need any help in the kitchen?” I asked when something started to smell good.
I missed her cooking. We had good food in the Sanctuary but nothing compares to home cooking.
“Don’t you worry about it, Charlie. You help Ginny with her homework, I will ask Ron and Percy to help.” She grinned at me, thankful for the offer.
I turned back to Ginny as she was just finishing the answer to the second question when I heard a pop outside. I looked at the family clock and watched the hand with Bill’s name move to Home. Before either Ginny or I could announce it to mum, the door opened and Bill stepped inside.
“Hi, everyone. I’m home!” He sang. He wasn’t alone though. I heard someone chuckling behind him. “I brought a guest, I hope that’s alright.” He said, turned more to mum than to us.
I could see he was nervous and a second later, I found out why.
He brought home a girl. Damn, she was beautiful. Perhaps I should reconsider my career choice. None of the girls in the Sanctuary looked like that. No offense to them.
I blinked twice to be sure I wasn’t overreacting. I have never seen someone as lovely as she was. She wasn’t the most beautiful girl in the world but there was something about her, something shining through that made her absolutely stunning.
I shook my head, what was I doing! She’s Bill’s girlfriend.
“Oh, my.” Mum whispered into her hand.
I could see her eyes sparkle as she slowly made her way towards Bill and his guest.
“Everybody this is Rhylee. Rhylee, this is my mum, my brother Charlie and my sister Ginny.” Bill pointed his finger at us on the sofa. “And that’s Ron and Percy.” He pointed at them at the kitchen table and they both waved with a knife, as they were cutting vegetables. “And I guess you’ll meet the twins later.” Bill’s eyes were searching for them.
“Where’s dad?” Bill asked, taking off his coat.
“He’s stuck at work but will be joining us soon.” Mum beamed, her eyes still on Rhylee.
She grabbed her hand and practically dragged her into the kitchen. Bill rolled his eyes and quickly followed them. I think he was afraid mum would bombard Rhylee with questions.
“She’s really pretty.” Ginny said, her eyes on Bill’s girlfriend. I couldn’t take my eyes off her either.
“Yeah.” I blurted out. I shook my head. “Ginny, come on. Focus on your homework.” I tapped my finger on Ginny’s parchment.
She snapped back and took her quill out of the ink bottle.
“On it.” She started scribbling again.
“The sooner you finish, the sooner we can play Quidditch.” I whispered to her.
She started writing faster and I giggled. That always got her. If you could bribe my sister with anything it was Quidditch.
My eyes quickly wandered back to the kitchen. To Rhylee. She was so interesting and I have never wanted to know more about anyone as I did about her right now. She seemed mysterious as if you would need a lot of time to figure her out.
“What was the spell again, Charlie?” Ginny’s voice made me look away for the third time.
I really need to stop staring at her or she will think Bill’s brother is a creep.
“Immobulus, Ginny.” I said, my voice distant. I was not having as much fun helping her anymore. I was more interested in Bill’s girl.
“What are you two up to?” Bill sat next to me on the sofa and peeked at what Ginny was writing. “Homework! Merlin, I’m glad I’m late.” He laughed and tapped my back.
“Congratulations, Bill.” I winked at him. “Mum seems to like her.” I nodded to the kitchen where Rhylee was talking to our mum.
She didn’t look uncomfortable at all even though I knew mum was asking her all sorts of questions that violated personal space.
“We’re not together.” Bill said quietly.
They’re not? What was he waiting for!
“And that’s my cue to leave.” Ginny closed her ink bottle.
Bill and I laughed.
Every time we talked about girls, Ginny got up and left. I know she was too young for these things and she was always uncomfortable talking about it even though Ron told me once in a letter that he finds it annoying how obsessed she is with Harry Potter.
“What about your essay?” I mocked her.
“I remember what you told me and I can finish it later.” She stuck her tongue at me. “Besides, mum needs me in the kitchen.”
That was a bold lie Ginerva and you know it!
She just wanted to properly meet Rhylee and ask her questions as mum did.
“What are you waiting for, Bill?” I turned to my brother now.
I couldn’t believe the girl he brought home wasn’t his girlfriend. What was he thinking?
“I don’t know, Charlie!” He sighed and melted into the sofa. “I feel so intimidated by her and we have been friends for 3 years and…”
“How many more excuses are you going to give me?” I raised my eyebrows at him.
He never had problems asking a girl out before. He wasn’t as big on one-night stands as I was but he wasn’t awkward with girls either. But even I have to admit that Rhylee did look a bit intimidating. However, I know that wouldn’t stop me. She was a mystery box waiting to be opened and I knew that if it was me I wouldn’t waste a minute.
“I know. I suck.” Bill pursed his lips and looked towards Rhylee. “I promise I’ll do it once we get back. No more excuses.”
“You swear?” I mocked him.
“Yes!” Bill rolled his eyes.
“What’s that thing Ginny does?” I scratched my head. “Something with fingers?”
“Pinky promise?” Bill laughed.
“Yes! Let’s do that!” I smirked.
“No way. I am not making a pinky promise with you!” Bill wanted to get up but I grabbed his hand and pushed him back down.
“Oh, yes you are!” I was having too much fun messing with him.
He might be two years older than me and might have a fang for an earring and might be dressed in leather and look all cool but I knew he was still a big loving teddy bear he has been before he decided to put dragonhide boots on his feet. I brought my pinky closer to his face and just as we were about to finalize the deal, Rhylee disturbed us.
“I think we haven’t been properly introduced yet.” She said, looking at me.
“Yeah, I guess so.” I cleared my throat and lowered my hand. I shook hers and Bill offered her to sit down next to him.
“You know, you two have a lot in common.” Bill said after a few seconds of awkward silence.
“How come?” I finally tore my eyes off hers and looked at my brother.
“Rhylee here is a Dragonologist like you.” He grinned.
I think my heart just skipped a beat. This was not happening. She wasn’t. She couldn’t be. This was so unfair! Bill gets this amazing girl and doesn’t even ask her out and I’m stuck with April who sends my mum letters without me knowing about it.
“I work at Gringotts.” She explained.
I gasped. Finally, someone who can tell me about the dragons that are guarding the vaults in the Bank!
“What breeds do you have down there?” I bit my tongue.
I suddenly remembered that I was not supposed to know that Gringotts had dragons.
It’s supposed to be a secret and Bill could lose his job by telling me that. Ministry wasn’t big on dragons and goblins would never admit that they have one of the most dangerous creatures so close to where people go. Bill let it slip one time I visited him in Egypt. He thought I would find it interesting, being obsessed with dragons and all.
“Oh, Charlie.” Bill laughed and Rhylee followed his lead.
If somebody asked me right now if she fancied my brother I don’t think I would be able to answer them.
“It’s okay. I won’t tell anyone that you know.” She turned to me with the biggest grin on her face.
Was she excited to talk about dragons?
“How many dragons do you keep down there?” I tried to sound as casual as possible even though I wanted to burst from excitement.
“Two and we are getting a third one after the holidays. We have an Ukranian Ironbelly and an albino Swedish Short-Snout and we’re getting…”
“You have an albino dragon down there?!” My voice was a tad too loud.
I had to sit up straight to steady my breathing. I have never seen one and thought they were a myth. I only read about them and made it my life’s goal to see it one day and here she was, saying they have an albino Swedish Short-Snout as if she was talking about rabbits.
“Yeah.” Rhylee chuckled. “You should see him. He’s so beautiful. He was already grown up when I got the job but one of my co-workers has worked with him since he was 6 months old and I’m still jealous of that. Imagine a small albino Snouty!” Her voice got just as high as mine was before.
This was unreal. I couldn’t believe she loved dragons so much. I work with more than 20 Dragonologists but I always felt like I am more obsessed with the creatures than anyone else and here she was. She looked about my age so she couldn’t attend Hogwarts otherwise I would remember her. Heck, I would probably want to be her best friend!
“I wish! You have to smuggle me in one day. I would love to see him!” I leaned on my arms.
“Perhaps that can be arranged.” She laughed.
“What do his scales look like? Are his eyes red, because I read once that it’s a fifty-fifty chance that they have normal eyes and…” I looked at Bill, sitting between us.
I sat back up straight and cleared my throat. This wasn’t right.
I know the expression on Bill’s face and I don’t like it. Out of all my siblings, I was always closest to Bill. We were the first to go to school and he always looked after me there. He was my big brother and I owed so much to him.
He was my best friend and he knows everything about me. He was there for me when I broke up with my girlfriend the Summer after I graduated from Hogwarts and we stuck together when mum was going on and on what dangerous career paths we both chose.
I knew him better than anyone and the look on his face was saying that he felt left out and I couldn’t blame him. It was enough that he had to listen to me talk about dragons non-stop until he became a Curse Breaker and moved to Egypt and even after that I didn’t stop with my obsession. And now he was sitting between me and the girl he really liked and he had nothing to add to the conversation.
It was wrong and it wasn’t fair to him. He brought this girl here to introduce her to his family and then ask her out and I was ruining it for him. It didn’t matter that I was completely awestruck by her or that she was beautiful or that I would love to get to know her better.
Nobody was worth losing my brother over. I never want to see that expression on his face again. He shouldn’t feel like this. He already stalled asking this girl out and I wasn’t helping.
“You know what…” I sucked in a breath. “Doesn’t matter. Let’s talk about something else.” I forced a smile.
As much as I would love to talk about dragons with Rhylee, Bill was more important to me even though I could see she felt the same and was loving all the questions I was asking her.
“How did you two meet?” I turned to Bill.
I wanted nothing more than for him to start speaking, to feel included.
“We can talk about that later.” Bill smiled. I know he appreciated that I tried changing the topic. “You two clearly have a lot of questions for each other and I haven’t seen the twins yet so I will go upstairs and see what they are up to and you two talk.” He stood up.
“You sure?” I tried stopping him.
I know he wasn’t okay with this and neither was I.
“Pinky promise.” He laughed and walked away.
“Pinky promise? Really?” I turned to Rhylee, her eyebrows raised.
“Long story.” I shook my head and chuckled.
“So…” She pressed her lips together and poked my knee. She was so playful. “Do you want to know more about the dragons I work with or do you want to know how Bill and I met?”
“What do you think?” I smirked at her and made her laugh.
This was not good. I was completely mesmerized by her.
“To answer your previous two questions…” She sat closer to me. “His scales are completely white except the ones on his tail. Those are washed-up red. It’s really interesting and I tried searching for the reason behind the reddish color in several books but I couldn’t find anything.” She sighed.
“And about your questions about the eyes. I asked Simon, the one I said before that worked with the albino before I got there, he said that his eyes changed when he was about 1 year old. They are black now but apparently, they were red before and I so wish I could see that. He had to look even more beautiful!” She squeaked.
“So according to him, that would mean that they do have red eyes but lose the color with age?” I thought out loud.
“Seems like it. He’s the only albino I encountered. I’m sorry I can’t tell you more about it.” She sighed.
“Anyways, as I said before. We have the two and we’re getting a Norwegian Ridgeback after the holidays. I can’t even begin to explain to you how excited I am for that!” She clapped her hands together.
She was basically me in a female form.
“Do you name them? We do in the Sanctuary. One of my co-workers has a 5-year-old daughter and a few months ago our rescue team brought a new Common Welsh Green and we let her name him and she called him Bunny.” I laughed.
“Oh, that is so sweet!” Rhylee laughed too. “The albino is Dash and our Ukrainian Ironbelly is Kyan. They were named before I got there so I didn’t have a chance to pick.” She said sadly. “But my team did say that I can name the one we’re getting now.” Her face brightened up immediately.
She has her own team? I had so many questions for her that I would need to prolong my stay to get the answers to all of them.
“Did you pick out the name yet?” I asked.
Even though I wanted to know more about her team and how is she handling being in charge. I was recently appointed to lead a team and I wasn’t good at bossing people around. One question at the time, Charlie.
“I was thinking of Nyx. It’s similar to Nox since the dragon is black. I don’t know yet.” She shrugged her shoulders, but I knew she had it all figured out.
She reminded me of myself when I had more to say but stopped because I thought the other party wouldn’t be interested in what I have to say.
“I like it.” I encouraged her. “We have a Norwegian Ridgeback. His name is Norbert.”
“Oh, that’s cute.” She cupped her face. I could see she was debating whether she picked the right name or not. “Maybe you can help me pick a name.” She bumped into my shoulder. “You know, in case I change my mind.”
“Sure.” I replied and sat a bit away from her. I don’t want her to be too friendly with me. I was already having too much fun with her.
“I’m sorry. Am I talking too much about dragons?” She sighed.
She must’ve noticed me moving away.
“Oh, no. Not at all!” I reassured her.
“It’s just…” She sucked in a breath. I knew she wasn’t sure if she should say what she’s about to say and at this point, neither was I. “Nobody ever shows such enthusiasm about dragons as you just did. All those questions you asked me. It’s nice to talk to someone who shares your passion.” She explained.
“Tell me about it.” I took a deep breath.
We should not talk about how much we are enjoying this or how much fun we are having. Just talking to her felt like I was doing something illegal. She came here with Bill, remember?
“I have a team of six including me and it’s hard to see that it’s just a job to most of them, you know. They don’t care as much as I do. If it was on me, I would be there all the time and I would do so much more for them but they always laugh at me and tell me I’m too obsessed or that I’m a workaholic. They do what they need to do and then go home and it’s hard working with people like that. It’s hard to trust them. There is this girl,” she licked her lips, “Lizzie, she’s the only one I can trust. She cares about the dragons. The rest of them, I don’t know. Perhaps I’m overreacting.” Her eyes moved from the coffee table to mine.
They were so full of emotion, so full of passion for her job.
Why did Bill bring her here!
“You’re not.” I placed my hand on her shoulder but quickly pulled away.
What was I doing?
“I’m the same. There are more than 20 people in the Sanctuary and I can’t relate to any of them.” I frowned. “They love dragons and they do care about them but after a long working day, they don’t want to talk about work which is understandable but it can get quite lonely when I want to discuss several occurrences that happened during the day and they all tell me that I should shut up and drink my beer and that we can talk about it in the morning. They just don’t understand that there is so much more to the creatures than just breathing fire and feeding them.” I couldn’t believe I was telling her this.
I never talked about this to anyone. I loved my job and I loved Romania and I love all the friends I’ve made there but nobody understood me as Rhylee did and I met her an hour ago. It was crazy.
This was crazy! I can’t believe I was talking to this incredible girl that was as obsessed with dragons as I was and wanted to talk about nothing else and I had to hold myself back because I felt guilty because of Bill.
“I can’t believe someone actually understands me.” She said more to herself than to me.
I looked at her and we stared at each other for solid five seconds before she looked away, clearing her throat.
“So…” She swallowed. “Your mates tell you to shut up and drink your beer?” She chuckled.
“Yeah.” I joined her. “We usually grab a beer or two on Fridays or during the weekend. There isn’t much to do for fun so we get drunk.” I said, a little embarrassed.
I didn’t know her well enough to know if she was okay with that. Not that it matters what her opinion of me is. Soon, I’ll be her brother-in-law.
“At least you can get drunk.” She laughed. “I have nobody to do that with. All my co-workers are so serious and go straight home after work so the only one I can really talk or have any fun with is my roommate Lyla.”
“That’s just sad.” I teased her.
“Tell me about it.” She guffawed. “Why don’t you tell me about one of your adventures, mister I-have-friends-who-want-to-drink-with-me.” She winked at me.
I know it was harmless and I was reading too much into this but it only made me feel worse.
I didn’t know how she was around Bill but she was great with me. I felt so relaxed around her and felt as if I could tell her anything and she wouldn’t judge. She emitted this calming energy that was just pulling me toward her and I was losing it.
“Well, this one time me and my two co-workers Andrew and Theo got drunk. We were walking to our huts when Theo got an idea that we should fly on a dragon.” Rhylee put her hand on her lips, trying hard not to laugh. “We didn’t go to the ones that are still young and therefore less dangerous, we went to the most vicious one we have in the reserve!” I exclaimed. “The Chinese Fireball that was also guarding her newly hatched babies.”
“You’re insane!” Rhylee gasped, her eyes widened.
“We were giggling like a bunch of schoolgirls, Andrew still with a beer bottle in his hand. We thought we were being quiet.” I continued.
“And you were not.” Rhylee chuckled.
“Of course, not! We were probably louder than her roar.” I laughed. “We were walking towards her and laughing so much that we didn’t notice she woke up. She stood up and when Theo saw it instead of running he started laughing his arse off! The Fireball roared her lungs out and woke up the entire village, while we ran back to the huts and tried to hide the fact that it was us.”
“Did you get away with it?” Rhylee was completely invested in the story.
“Nah! Almost got fired. If Peter wasn’t such an understanding boss we would probably all be out of jobs right now.” I finished my story.
Rhylee couldn’t stop laughing. She had one of those rare laughs. You could tell she only laughs when something is really funny and would never fake it just for the sake of it.
I really didn’t like how much she was starting to grow on me. Thank Merlin I was rarely home and was in Romania almost the whole year-round. I will have to find a way to avoid her when she comes to visit with Bill for the holidays.
Rhylee bit her lip after she stopped laughing and we stared at each other again. Why was she doing this to me! It looked as if she was reading my expression. Trying to figure out what I was thinking. I hope she wasn’t a Legimens, that would be really bad for me and for Bill. As long as I keep it inside my head I am not doing anyone any harm.
“Can you tell me where the bathroom is?” She said after the awkward silence.
“Upstairs, first door to the right.” I was glad she was going away.
Not that I wanted her to leave. I could see why Bill liked her so much. I am completely screwed. I have never felt such a connection to any girl before. Not even with the girl I had the only serious relationship with. This is not how I imagined my holidays to go.
I wanted to spend some quality time with my siblings and my parents and then bury myself in my work again. I did not plan to hate myself for feeling what I feel.
Which, by the way, I have no idea what it is. I have never felt something like this before. It wasn’t butterflies. No, it was stronger than that. She filled my chest with excitement and my head with questions and not just about dragons.
I wanted to get to know her better. I wanted to talk to her about her life and what she likes and about her family. I wanted to take her out on a date and I haven’t felt that way with anyone since I left Hogwarts.
I don’t have time for a relationship. Perhaps that’s an excuse because I didn’t find the right person yet. I am pretty good at reading people and if I see that it wouldn’t lead to anything or would fall apart sooner or later I just leave.
Or take them to bed.
I know it’s not exactly nice if the other party expects more but a meaningless fling or a one-night stand here and there is what I have been about for 3 years now. Well, to be honest, the last one was with April, 7 months ago, and staring at my older brother’s future girlfriend’s ass while she goes to the bathroom really wasn’t helping.
“Did you scare her away already?” Bill’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I have to stop doing this. I have to stop thinking about her, staring at her and I definitely have to stop talking to her.
I don’t know how I will be able to do it for the next 4 days but I have to try. I love Bill. He’s my brother. I have to put myself aside and I have to think about him. I would never do anything to hurt him and the thoughts I was having would do just that if he knew about them.
I asked her about dragons, she asked me the same. We had a few laughs and now she should spend the rest of the holidays with Bill. I have 5 other siblings, somebody ought to keep me occupied and then hopefully I won’t have to see her until their wedding and to be honest I could probably avoid her there too.
It doesn’t matter how she made me feel. It doesn’t matter that I felt understood and that we have so much in common. It doesn’t matter that she laughed at my dumb story or that she made me feel as if I could tell her anything in this world.
It doesn’t matter that I find her beyond beautiful and charming and it definitely doesn’t matter that I felt something between us that I have never felt before in my entire life.
Bill.
Bill is what matters.

Blue Exorcist 10th anniversary book Q&A session
The 10th anniversary book has a section where Katoh answers 100 questions submitted by fans on Twitter, so here they are translated/paraphrased! May contain manga spoilers up to the recent flashback arc, so be warned.
(Note that I’m playing it very fast and loose here because there are A HUNDRED OF THEM, so not exact wordings, but it should capture the gist. Lemme know if there are any you want elaborated on)
1. Katoh likes the feel of traditional drawing more than digital but is impressed with how far digital has come
2. Meph THOROUGHLY ABUSES spacetime to watch all his shows and ensure that he gets all the merch he wants
3. Did the girls take all of Yukio’s school uniform buttons in middle school? Yes, they did (apparently it’s like A Thing for girls to ask for a button from their crush at middle school graduation, based on some sad movie from the 60s where a guy who got drafted as a kamikaze pilot gave a girl one of his uniform buttons to remember him by)
4. Rin's tail is about a meter long
5. There are tons of servants working at Mephisto's mansion. Belial is in charge of them
6. Katoh borrows from all sorts of neat real locations when making settings
7. Katoh identifies with pretty much all the characters the most! Except Lucifer.
8. Demon designs she's proud of include the impure king and hachirou, pretty much anything that was the main one in an arc
9. Katoh lists a bunch of her favorite musical artists/music she’s listening to recently: King Gnu, Official Hige Dandism, Kenshi Yonezu, BAD HOP, Sakanaction, Keyakizaka 46, Hypnosis Mic, Aimer, B’Z, Queen Bee.
10. Awww the rabbit manga that characters are often reading isn't just Robo to Usakichi, it's an even older one that she drew as a little kid
11. She likes industrial style interior designs
12. Rin and Yukio alternated who got the top bunk growing up, because they couldn't agree on it lol
13. Katoh cares a whole lot about panel layouts and speech bubble positions, might even be her favorite part of the process (it shows!)
4. Katoh does NOT have a mashou, lol
15. Rin has probably been practicing in secret so he can learn to carry stuff with his tail
16. Izumo probably got into shojo manga around 1st grade, her mom had some around the house
17. Specialty dishes: Rin - lots of stuff but especially nabe Yuri - stuff you can throw together quickly Shiro - stuff he learned from Yuri and/or cookbooks, alongside teaching Rin Yukio - Does. Not. Cook.
18. Can't pick a favorite place she's been on research, but there's no place like Japan
19. Kinzou's band isn't currently meeting because demons, but he's probably still thinking of new songs
20. Hardest characters to draw: anyone with detailed flowing hair. Hardest to write for: Lightning and Gedouin. She had to go read books about serial killers specifically for material for Gedouin, lol
21. Suguro actually gets a dorm room to himself, though allegedly Yukio is technically assigned as his roommate, lol. Didn't end up that way what with Yukio being a teacher and also Rin’s whole...situation
22. Shiemi makes some of her own hair accessories! Cute
23. Katoh doesn't mind if you include stuff with fan letters but check with the editor first
24. Time for making each chapter: Planning/storyboarding: 1-5 days. Sketching: 3-5 days. Drawing/inking: the rest. Just...the rest of the time
25. Neither Suguro nor Izumo have dated before and neither is currently dating. But that's probably just because things were hectic for them! It could happen
26. Yukio breaks 5 or 6 pairs of glasses a year, someone get this kid a strap or something
27. How many spare glasses does Yukio have? Check the fanbook lol it's in there (dang it Katoh)
28. The demon she wants us to pay the most attention to is Lucifer. Because plot.
29. What's under the Order's big meeting table? It's a BOTTOMLESS PIT and if you fall in it you DIE that's what makes it COOL (laughs)
30. What are the job requirements for the angelic legion? Literally just Arthur liking you and inviting you to join
31. She WANTS to do more character profiles but just hasn't gotten to it
32. Rin's tail feels like a cat tail, texture wise
33. The "red Assiah fire" is literally just actual fire nothing special
34. Rin's current hair color is light blue fading to white at the ends
35. Thoughts on Rin's growth: she likes that he stays positive in awful situations and she also thinks it's very main character of him to face the past instead of avoiding it
36. Mephisto didn't purposely surround Rin with stuffed animals when he woke up after going crispy. Mephisto's bed is just Like That
37. Kurikara was based on a cool sword she found in a sword book, but that one was technically just a ceremonial sword. The symbol on it us a Sanskrit letter kaan (sp?) associated with Fudou Myouou
38. Kuro can communicate with normal cats and hangs out with them often
39. Sometimes Shiemi's skirt is extra fancy around the hem what's up with that? Apparently it's an optional accessory that comes with the skirts help I haven't noticed this and don't know any fashion terms in any language
40. When coloring, Katoh always tries to have an overall theme in mind ("emphasis on blue" etc) so it comes together in the end
41. Yes the twins are genetically related to Shiro because of Goro (she says they're like his nephews but I say GENETICALLY at least they'd be indistinguishable from his children)
42. Strongest mom of all the strong moms around here? Yuri! Did you SEE her give birth??
43. Are you careful about your own health Katoh-sensei? Not particularly! Her mom has had to bring her food at work sometimes! Don't do this at home kids
44. At the dating events Shura goes to, does she drink cocktails in moderation? Yeah, she probably downplays her normal drinking habits at these things. But normally she's down for just about any kind of drink
45. Lucifer just really likes oysters okay
46. How many pages of manga does Katoh draw in a day? If she's being good about self-care: three. Maximum number ever: TEN
47. Mephisto is one of those folks who can eat like a garbage compactor and never gain weight. Possibly because his body resists that sort of change the same way it resists aging etc
48. First food Rin cooked: fish burger type patty. Yukio's favorite things Rin cooks: fish simmered in soy sauce, yellowtail with daikon radish. It's fish all the way down
49: Did Rin ever get more monthly allowance from Mephisto? It doubled! He gets TWO 2000 yen bills now (rip) [T/N: That's uh, that's USD $37.26 a month or 33.10 euro]
50. Why isn't Rin more popular with the girls? He gets nervous talking to them, plus he's too oblivious to notice even if he DID have some fans
51. Why change Suguro's hair? She gets bored with keeping everything the same, and she wanted a visual representation that he was getting serious and going into kind of a training arc
52. Things Katoh pays extra attention to when drawing: trying to capture the feel of whatever she's drawing (like "that looks warm and soft" or "I bet that guy stinks" cough Lightning cough)
53: Does Rin take after Yuri more? (He's got her eyes!) Katoh tried to draw Yuri so she looks like both twins. Personality, too - Yukio has her smarts and Rin has her optimism
54: Do you ever wanna be like Mephisto? Well she'd like to be able to get away with just ANYTHING EVER, but no, let's not be like Mephisto
55. Konekomaru not only carries around a cat toy in case he meets any cats, he MAKES cat toys to carry around based on what he thinks the cats would like
56. How'd you come up with Shima? Go read the fan book!
57. Do the kids have Twitter/Instagram accounts? Rin - probably not. Konekomaru might be on some social media. Paku and Izumo are totally on instagram
58. Is there something Rin makes that you wish you could try? All of it! That's the whole idea! He's good at cooking!
59. Will we ever have a (G-rated) reveal of what ALL of Mamushi and her family's tattoos look like? Maybe! She'll think about it
60. Does Arthur have a repertoire of different hairstyles? Not really, he just puts some of it up on the top. Heck he might even have people to do that for him
61. If you wrote a shojo manga what would it be about? She'd have to do a lot of research before even coming up with a story, since there are so many style differences between the genres aside from just the subject
62. The other two of Mephisto's top 3 favorite foods: Cup ramen and....f-fried bubblegum?? Is that a THING???
63. Where do you start when drawing a character? Usually the outline of their face but if it's a complex pose/composition she'll start with whatever's in the foreground (like hands)
64. If Katoh could have a familiar, what demon would she choose? Mephisto. As the all-powerful author, she might actually be able to command him as a familiar!
66. If you swapped Yukio and Rin's relationship around what would change? not much, you'd pretty much have Rin going to the Illuminati and Yukio going to the past
67. Top 3 foods/souvenirs to try in Kyushu? Well she doesn't know what’s good CURRENTLY but when she was there she always used to like burdock tempura udon, hakata torimon (a kind of manju with white bean paste inside), and Chikae style cod roe. today I learned Katoh went to high school in Kyushu
68. Katoh listens to music a lot while she's storyboarding, then when she and the assistants are all drawing and inking they put various videos/movies and stuff on in the background
69. For all his hitting on girls, is Shima actually popular with the ladies at all? He's got enough girls in his life that he probably COULD find a girlfriend if he really wanted, but the double agent thing tends to get in the way. He still wouldn't be as popular as Yukio though (side thought/translator’s note: Shima would be proud of being number 69.)
70. Katoh has the ending planned out in a big-picture way, but there are still a few details here and there that she's fretting over
71. It's cute when the boys put their ties over their shoulders when they're working on something! Where'd that come from? She just figured a tie might get in the way and that seemed like a realistic way to get it out of the way
72. Looks like Yukio is getting some facial hair! What about Rin? They're both about the age for it, but maybe Rin can't grow a beard yet. Maybe a little peach fuzz here and there
73. Katoh's favorite blue exorcist merch? There were some exorcist licenses a while back, and the exorcist pins. Basically it's really cool that these little accessories she drew ACTUALLY EXIST NOW, LIKE YOU CAN HOLD THEM IN YOUR HANDS
74. Okay realtalk how long do we have left, I don't want the series to end yet? We're solidly in the second half by now but it's not, like, ABOUT to end yet
75. Katoh would be a Knight meister, based on what characters she likes to play in games and such
76. How many people in the whole exorcism cram school? More than you think! She doesn't give a number but apparently licensed exorcists also attend classes for new meisters, etc, so there's a wide age range attending
77. How's Arthur feel about, like, studying Taming on the way to becoming Paladin? He's at least mostly accepted that you have to use demons to fight demons effectively
78. Konekomaru started wearing glasses in his first year of middle school, so like 7th grade (more recent than I thought!) He has one spare pair, in contrast to Yukio lol
79. Katoh's current obsessions? Ghost/scary stories! She's even been going to live readings of them recently
80. Media Katoh consumes for inspiration? A wide range of foreign teen drama, horror/suspense, shojo manga, light novels, anime, etc. Special focus on things where two boys are in conflict or there are brothers involved
81. If they weren't exorcists what jobs would they have? Rin - chef. Yukio - doctor. Shiemi - uh, florist?
82. Inspiration for the design of True Cross Town? Katoh and her assistants gathered up a bunch of references, picked out stuff they felt matched the tone, and mashed them all up together
83. Did you use any references etc for the school/exorcist uniforms? She says she probably should have but she just kind of made them up before publication
84. Favorite part of drawing? For color pages, picking out a color scheme. For black and white, drawing in all the little details (though she doesn't always get time to lately)
85. Once again confirms the demon kings' weird hair is a representation of their horns. ADDS THAT PEOPLE WHO CAN'T SEE DEMONS CAN'T SEE THE WEIRD HAIR
86. Now that Yukio's at the Illuminati, where's he gonna get his Jump SQ and spare glasses? Well he probably never planned to stay for long, but hey it's a big ship and they might have an optometrist and/or newsstand there
87. Do you base the demon characters on any references etc? Not really, she just gets a general idea of popular demon designs and then makes up her own in her own style
88. Merchandise Katoh personally wants to have made: stuff that an adult could just use in their day to day life. Also, it's not gonna happen, but if her favorite figure brand made AoEx figures she could die happy
89. If Beelzebub's host body was a beautiful woman, how would Shima react? Would the womanizing win out over the bug phobia? Katoh replies that Shima would probably just faint from being near a girl that pretty, before the bugs even got involved
90. Will the twins ever get to smile and eat dinner together again?? We'll just have to wait and see!
91. What do you check at a "scenario check"? what's a scenario check man I dunno They check for people being out of character or the setting feeling off. They had a lot of these checks for the anime, but they also do them for the drama CD, games, and all that other stuff where multiple authors are involved
92. Why does Shura use baldy as an insult for people who are clearly not bald? She feels like they have some kind of metaphorical, mental kind of "baldness" and she's calling them out on it. Whatever that means
93. After Blue Exorcist ends, what do you want to draw next? She has SO MANY IDEAS, SO MANY
94. Did Katoh make up the Shinto chants that, for example, Izumo used against Gedouin? They're assembled from bits of actual Shinto prayers according to what feels right in the scene
95. Yukio reads the Jump SQ, right, and, just hear me out here, he likes gag manga, right? Does this mean he reads Salaryman Yukio? It's something he would read, but let's say that in the AoEx universe there's just a very similar manga that he finds oddly relatable
96. What do Yukio and Shima do in their free time on the Dominus Liminus? oh my god you guys this ship has so many amenities.  Yukio probably spends time reading in the library, which they totally have. There's also, like, a gym, and a movie theater, and a THEATER theater, all of which are free. Shima probably hangs out at the pool (!) and goes to the movies, and hits on illuminati girls, lol
97. Easiest character to draw? The ones with boring simple hair, lol. Lightning gets an honorable mention for ALSO not having eyes in most shots, but Rin wins--he was specifically designed to be easy for Katoh to draw because that's what you want in your main character
98. How do demons understand gender? They just possess whatever feels like the best match to how they feel in Gehenna, whether that's a man, or a woman, or a rat, or whatever
99. Where do you start when you're coming up with a story? She starts with character design and how the characters relate to each other. Currently she's just continuing an existing story, so she works on splitting up the overall plot into episodes and fleshing it out with scenes and information about characters
100. When do you feel most happy? She honestly feels like she lives a very happy life overall. Mentions noticing a lot of little things, like how nice her cats' heads smell when she cuddles them or taking a nice cold refreshing drink of water. There's happiness in everything. aww.

Unhealed Wounds
Tumblr media
Summary: Hallucinations are sensory experiences that appear real but are created by your mind. They can affect all five of your senses. For example, you might hear a voice that no one else in the room can hear or see an image that isn't real.
TRIGGER WARNING: MENTIONS OF PTSD!
Wattpad Version! | AO3 Version!
"Hanji, that's not going to work. You've already tried mixing those two chemicals together." You say, hoping the mad scientist will listen to your advice this time.
"Yes, it will. Can you trust me for once?" she rolls her eyes as you put your hands up, a sign of defeat. You take a few steps back, allowing Moblit to stand behind her.
"Section Commander, who... are you talking to?"
She turns around to face him, a confused expression taking over her features, "What do you mean?" She proceeds to change her focus to you. Your face matching hers, you both turn back to stare at the worried, brown-haired man.
"Hanji, there's no one there."
.
"Commander Erwin, it's happening again." You hear Moblit's voice coming from the office, the concern in his words is undeniable. You take a few steps forward and sit next to Hanji she doesn't take her eyes off her book, but she slides you her right hand while gently blushing, you flash her a smile and lace your fingers together.
"Do you have any idea why we are here?" You face the massive brown doors, a hint of uneasiness hiding in your voice. She shrugs her shoulders before letting out a clearly annoyed sight.
"Beats me, Moblit is always dragging me here, once he asked for a meeting with the Commander because Bean almost ate my leg and he thought it was a little too dangerous, but I know my poor Beannie was just trying to play."
You roll your eyes at her while letting out a quiet laugh, "Doesn't surprise me."
Staring at the clock, you can no longer hear the voices coming inside the room, Are they making a point to be quiet? you think to yourself but before you could share your thoughts with Hanji, Erwin's figure walks out of the room, followed by a very concerned Moblit.
"Hanji, come on in." His gentle but firm voice filling the air around you as he gestures towards the room. She closes her book before handing it to her assistant, as she walks past the two men you can see her eyes rolling.
"You too, Y/N."
"Oh shit." .
You can't read quite read his expression. An uneasiness settling in your stomach as you stand before the Commander, waiting for him to find the rights words.
"Do you know why you're here?" His voice echoes through the silent room, he doesn't sound mad, in reality, the tone of his voice gives away a fair amount of concern. Hanji looks down at her hands the entire time.
"Moblit seems to be concerned about something, but all I was trying to do is figure out how to..." The Commander raises his hand as a signal for her to stop talking. Hanji quickly closes her mouth and crosses her arms, her annoyance visible to anyone who looks at her. You take a deep breath.
"Sir, with all due respect, Hanji hasn't done anything dangerous." Your words seem to get lost in the air, almost as if he couldn't hear you. As you're about to resume your point, his voice echoes through the room one more time, cutting you off.
"You don't remember, do you?" You can make out the pity in his voice. You share a confused look with your girlfriend, neither of you has any idea what he's talking about. The sadness in his expression is as clear as his blue eyes.
"What are you... talking about, Sir?" He ignores you. Not out of malice, but he simply can not hear you. A red light flashes in your brain, clouding your vision slightly. You shake the sight off and look at Hanji, waiting for her reaction.
"Erwin, did you not hear Y/N?" She asks while making her way towards you, your cold fingers touching her warm skin. The man standing in front of you takes a deep breath, it's almost unnoticeable but one small, gentle tear runs down his face.
"Please, come with me."
.
As you follow the Commander, a million thoughts go through your head, your main questions are where are you going and why is he acting like he can't hear you? You turn over to face Hanji, who has an angry expression taking over her features, clearly angry Erwin didn't address your question earlier that evening.
You can hear your footsteps against the grass as you follow him up a hill. Underneath a big tree, you see a small stone. As you take a closer look at it, you feel a pit opening in your stomach before nausea hits you. You look over at Hanji but her focus lays on the words ahead of you:
"Captain Y/N. Birth: 820.
Death: 850."
It was a simple gravestone. The dark grey contrasts with the bright green grass. The words now floating in front of you as your body suddenly becomes heavier than iron. You fall flat on the ground, tears burning in your eyes.
"But.. Y/N is right here, how can that be?" Hanji's voice is barely audible, her body shaking as she tries to fight back tears of her own. As you look at her, the memories you tried so hard to bury hit you all at once.
.
The rain makes it hard for you to see anything, you can't use flares and the mud beneath your feet comes dangerously close to being quicksand. In the distance, you can see three titans. Two of them sprint in your direction as the last one walks relatively slowly.
"SQUADS 2 AND 3, TAKE DOWN BOTH 5 METER TITANS. ME AND SECTION COMMANDER HANJI WILL HANDLE THE 10 METER ONE!"
You pray they were able to hear you over the deafening sound of the thunder. As their horses shift to the right, you share a look with the brunette beside you, the excitement in her eyes is undeniable as you approach the massive creature.
Once you're closer to the trees, you switch to your 3D Gear, the wind hits your body, undoing the suttle styling you did to your hair before leaving the walls. The titan closes the distance between you as you prepare to strike it. Hanji looks at you before nodding, "It's time!"
In a split of a second, your hook is caught on its arm and as you draw out your blades, ready to carve out its eyes, the titan pulls you down. You can feel the raindrops hit your face while your body falls. You can almost hear Hanji screaming your name through the thunder. A gentle but sad smile taking over your features as the titan grabs you before your body hits the ground.
You look at Hanji and realize she's running towards you without her gear. As you get closer and closer to the titan's mouth, your body goes numb. The foul smell from its mouth creating enormous nausea in your stomach. Your eyes wander down to the shine of her glasses as she's now being carried away by the Commander himself.
"It's ok, Hanji. I'll be ok."
Before you could even finish your track of thought, the excruciating pain of the titan's teeth ripping your flesh hits you. You're conscious long enough to let out one final scream as you feel the lower half of your body being torn apart.
After a few seconds of such horrible pain, everything goes dark.
As you open your eyes, you find yourself sitting underneath an enormous tree. Not remembering where you are, what happened to you, or why you are here, you stand up and start walking forward, looking for a familiar face.
You walk for what it feels like hours but eventually make it back to the Scouts. A bright smile on your face as you run past the gates. All of your friends are crying but before you could ask what's wrong, you see Hanji's hair through a small window.
You find her crying on the floor, ripped papers all over her, and her glasses behind the door. You sit by her side before wrapping your left arm around her waist. She looks up at you and allows herself to melt away in your arms.
"What happened, my love?" The gentle tone of your voice makes her forget what even happened in the first place. Her tears dry on their own as you start to play with her hair. Neither of you has talked about it ever since.
.
"So this is what happened. Why you were crying so hard that day." Your hands shift onto fists before punching the tree by your side. The unbearable sadness that takes over your body is indescribable.
"Hanji, hallucinations are fairly common symptoms of PTSD." Erwin says, touching her shoulder gently, "Let us help you get better."
"I don't want to let Y/N go." She says before covering her face with her hands, hiccups coming out of her body like you've never seen before. Your heart sinks as you watch her like that, but you realize one thing: for her to heal, you need to go.
And so you do. One final time, you lean towards her, gently moving her hair away from her cheeks as you place a simple kiss on it. Erwin shakes his head lightly for he could've sworn he saw her ponytail move, even without any wind. Reluctantly, you take a few steps forward and sit on the exact same spot you woke up a few months ago.
A single tear escapes your eye, "Take care of yourself, Hanji. You're living for the two of us now."
Your body becomes so heavy you can't support it anymore, so you quietly lay down under the shadows of the leaves, watching as the two figures walk away. Before you allow yourself to go back to sleep, you say it one more time, just for her to hear.
"I love you."
And soon enough, everything turns dark one more time, but this is different. Now you can finally allow yourself to relax and sleep because you know she'll be ok and so will you.

3RD PERSON POV
Like every morning, the big line of glasses is waiting for his girlfriend, but the two youngsters have no plans to go to school because it's the weekend, no, they enjoy their togetherness for all times.
Even if the two have known each other for a long time, that doesn't mean they've been together that long.
For the two of them, it was unimaginable to be in a relationship with the other, but things always happen and change.
Anyone who has asked the respective person about this relationship has long since forgotten because they apparently did not / do not care.
Back to the present.
Tsukishima looked annoyed at the clock on his cell phone and sighed in annoyance, he can't be delayed, even if it's 3 minutes.
It is not rare or common for his girlfriend to be late.
He actually prefers to pick her up instead of waiting for her, not only so that she can hurry up, but also so that she can meet her boyfriend carefree without any bad ulterior motives or any nuisance.
Well that's one of the reasons he hates being late, but he didn't tell his girlfriend about that fact himself.
Because of this particular incident with his brother, he has a strong weakness to trust someone or to trust someone, there are moments when he trusts his girlfriend, sometimes not, it mainly just depends.
But as a good friend, she shows understanding for him, she is too fond of him.
She knows his problems, his fears and the insecurities that almost eat him up, but she still knows the good side that she doesn't see every day, but better than never.
Like, for example, his love for her, his interests in the dinosaurs or his good tutoring when the two do their homework together.
Trapped in thought, someone took him out of it, or rather, something.
The boy's cell phone rang loudly, his heart pounding and he answered the call "Tsuki, where are you?" his girlfriend asked in amazement and tried to ignore the anger.
"In front of our favorite bakery, the question is more where are you, (Y / N) I've been waiting for more than 10 minutes and the weather is not very pleasant at the moment."
"Tsuki, we had agreed that we would meet in front of the museum, that you were present for our last conversation, I knew, but if you went straight into your own world, you have been really so bad in the last few days."
"(Y / N)?" Tsukishima said in a normal tone, "Yes?" she said, however, surprised that he speaks so calmly.
"Didn't we agree that if we'd only go to the museum right after we ate a piece of cake and went for a walk, because it only opens at 2 p.m. and now it's only 10:27 a.m."
"I'll be there in 5 minutes." was the only thing his girlfriend could say hung up as quickly as possible.
Yes, this behavior of his girlfriend wasn't seen every day, but he gets along reasonably well with it.
Of course there are moments or even days when he can lose his last nerve and there have been moments when he insults his girlfriend even though it is not his intention.
Fortunately, however, she knows him too well that she sometimes understands him, but only sometimes.
The one time she showed no understanding was when he was training again with his team and since Hinata was again better than usual, it annoyed him so much that he took all his anger and frustration out on his girlfriend, which caused her ignored him for almost a week.
Back to the present, holding hands, the couple are on their way to coffee.
The fingers are folded together, the wind blows stronger and stronger every second, but if you think that such weather could ruin their mood, you are one-sidedly wrong.
Once there, the two ordered a hot cocoa and a small cake, (Y / N) should already choose a place while Tsukishima delivers the delicacies with a tray.
They talked about their interests and what movie to watch tonight.
While walking around town, Tsukishima looked at his wristwatch that his girlfriend gave him and said, "The museum will open in about 20 minutes."
The friends who make (Y / N) s face shine cannot be overlooked.
Of course, she doesn't really like the museum because she's not really interested, but she knows too well that he likes the dinosaurs that she talked him into going on a date at the museum without any problems.
But he wanted the two to spend more time together, that is to say;
The coffee, the walk and the night at his house had been all his idea.
In the museum, the friend looked at a dinosaur, or rather a Gallimimus.
"What is it, Tsuki?" she asked him and shows it on the Gallimimus. "
From A to Z, her friend explained every information he knows about the Gallimimus.
"They were also a kind of group like wolves, but from the dinosaur genus of the Ornithomimosauria during the Theropoda. They lived for the most part in East Asia. Furthermore, as you can see, they were not small, they were 4 and 6 meters high and weighed up to to an example of 200 kg. "
"You seem to know your way around this, don't you?"
"Because I can." he said roughly, but grabbed his girlfriend's hand and said like a little boy, "Come on, you have to see the others first." and pulled her right after you with you.
TIME SKIP / 3RD PERSON POV
Back at home, the couple meets Tsukishima's brother.
He sighed annoyed and skilfully ignored him, but greeted him out of sheer politeness.
They have known each other for a long time, which is why they have an appropriate relationship.
In other words, a friendship.
You talk now and then.
However, their friendship does not belong in the level where you occasionally write to each other, make phone calls or go to town together.
But that's probably a good thing before Tsukishima gets the last nerve.
Tsukishima is not the kind of friend you ask if you can go out with this person or if he is having trouble going out with this person, knowing other people's passwords or reading through chats.
They know each other too well and also trust what is important in a relationship and therefore find this behavior strange from other couples, because, as I said, trust is part of a relationship.
When he got to his room, Tsukishima took his pajamas and said to his girlfriend "I'm going to get changed in the bathroom, okay?"
She nodded and answered him and also took her pajamas out of her pocket and changed a little faster than usual.
Finished dressed, she stuffed the clothes she was still wearing into her pocket and then put it down.
"Are you ready?" it came out the door.
"Yes I am, can come in."
The door opened and you not only saw Tsukishima in his pajamas, but he also held a small tray with (Y / N) 's favorite sweets.
But not only that, but also a small box.
The friend quickly got up to help her friend "Let me help you." and wanted to grab the tray right away, but Tsukishima pointed to his clothes, which is between his forearm and waist.
"Do you already know which film to watch and how." Tsukishima asked his girlfriend.
"No, I thought you would decide because I was 'allowed' to do it last time." she said and put his clothes where they belong.
"I would prefer if my dwarf would choose a movie." replied Tsukishima and set the tray down on his bed.
"Aww, since when was such a tsuki?" provoked (Y / N) Tsukishima and came a few steps towards him, while at the same time she looked at him gourmet.
Annoyed, he sobbed with his tongue - held a hand on her face and gently pushed her away from him.
He then gave his remote control to his girlfriend and finally said, "Come sit down and choose a movie."
And thus also knocked on the bed.
About half an hour has passed.
While (Y / N) stares obsessively at the screen and slowly eats the candy, Tsukishima secretly observed his girlfriend and the small box.
Breathing deeply, he said her name, while she turned and looked at him, "Is something?" she asked worriedly.
"No, it works. You remember when we were in town about a week ago, there was this shop. It had this chain that impressed you, so I made up my mind yesterday ..." without finishing his sentence he made it to his girlfriend.
She opened the box nervously.
The necklace that (Y / N) wanted, she got from her boyfriend as a present.
She just stared at it with no comments like, 'I want this.' 'Can you get it for me?' or something else, maybe he knows (Y / N) just too well.
He took the chain and asked "May I?"
"(Y / N) turned so he could tie the necklace together," What for, Tsuki? Have you ever seen the price? "She asked him and from now on ignored the film being played.
"When I saw the price, I wasn't too thrilled, but I just had to remember you being pretty amazed as a dwarf, so it wasn't too bad to spend my money."
The tray put away, the television switched off and the blanket over the couple's bodies, they slept cuddled up.
The two of them will not get rid of this event so quickly.

The lake Bodom murders
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On 4th of June 1960 vocational school students Maila Irmeli Björklund (15) and her friend Anja Tuulikki Mäki (15) accompanied their mutual friends Nils Wilhelm Gustafsson (18) and Seppo Antero Boisman (18) and went camping to the shore of the lake Bodom, located in Högnäs Espoo. It wasn't a long time after the murders that happened in the Tulilahti camping site (only one year) so the parents of the girls weren't exactly happy to let their daughters going to the trip, but they let them go on the last minute. They went with the boys’ motorcyckles and set their camp and tent near a local beach. They hung out and went to sleep around 12 am. After only couple hours of sleep however they woke up and at that time the two guys went fishing. After that they all went back to sleep.
Little is known what happened next, but on 5th of June early in the morning someone attacked the youngsters hitting them in the head with something heavy and blunt. Boisman and Björklund were also stabbed, Björklund over 10 times. The murderer stabbed them through the tent fabric. The primary cause of death for Boisman, Björklund and Mäki was skull fracture. Nils Gustafsson was able to flee from inside the tent, but the killer hit him on the head possibly with a rock. He was the only one to survive the attack but he had multiple fractures on his skull as well. Gustafsson was found laying on top of the collapsed tent and he spent weeks in a hospital and made full recovery.
Tumblr media
The victims were found on the next morning after people started to arrive at the beach. Gustafsson was alive like previously stated, but he was barely conscious. The police was quickly on the scene and during the same day they were able to conduct multiple stop checks and the biggest ever terrain exploration around the area. During this exploration the police were able to find 88 wanted people but were unable to find the killer.
The victims were missing their belongings, including their wallets and some of their clothing. Some of the clothing and shoes belonging to Gustafsson were found about a half a kilometers away from the scene, hidden away behind a rock. Other belongings and a jacket belonging to Boisman were never found during the investigation.
The murder weapon was never found. Gustafsson told the investigators that after they went to sleep he doesn't remember anything. There were eye witnesses, but what they were able to see were just some movement on the shore. 14 year old Olavi Kivilahti saw a blond man wearing a light colored shirt walking past the camp about 50 meters away, but Olavi was nearsighted and he wasn't wearing any glasses so his sighting is questionable. The police received over 50 notices of the blond man to the end of July but none of those resulted in an arrest.
After some time had passed and the police still had no idea who had murdered the youngsters, they decided to hypnotize Gustafsson. It was conducted on 2nd to 5th of July 1960. The 14 year old boy Olavi was also hypnotized couple times. During the hypnosis both of them described the suspect and drawings were done based on the descriptions, but it didn't lead to anything. Gustafsson described a man who cut a hole on the tent and hit them with a knife and with a metal pipe.
Tumblr media
The description for the killer was: aged around 20 to 30 years old, not young nor old, height about 173-174 cm (5'8), normal body type (heavier than Gustafsson though), round face, red cheeks, long blond hair combed back, normal ears with round earlobes, high wrinkled forehead, big eyes (color unknown), straight nose (not long nor short), normal light eyebrows, bold lips, strong jaw, short neck, white teeth (unknown if some are missing), big and thick fingers; special characteristics: pimples on forehead and cheeks. Clothing: plaid shirt with black buttons (buttoned up all the way), shirt contains many colors, at least black and green.
Suspects
Pauli Luoma
At first the police were searching a man that had been spotted in the area carrying a bag belonging to the victims. He had black beard and he was walking with a bicycle. He had also been spotted coming out from the forest wearing a bloody shirt. He was Pauli Kustaa Luoma, a runaway from a labor camp who had an alibi for the night. He had been in Otaniemi, Espoo during the murders. Otaniemi is 19 kilometers (11 miles) away from the lake Bodom which is about 23 minute trip.
Pentti Soininen (b. around 1945, d. 1969)
At the end of 1960, 24 year old Pentti Soininen confessed while in Kuopio prison that he murdered the youngsters. During the murders he was 15 years old and it was true that he had been near the lake during the murders, because he had run away from approved school. The police interrogated him but they did not give much weight to his confession. Soininen was described as a psychopath who could act in a very peculiar ways especially under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Soininen had a long list of crimes under his name: thefts, assaults and robberies. Soininen committed suicide by hanging in Toijala train station while he was being transferred to a prison in 1969.
Valdemar Gyllström (b. 1909, d. 1969)
Karl Valdemar Gyllström was a suspect for a long time. He was known to hate campers and he often acted aggressively. His nickname was "Kiosk-man" because he apparently had a kiosk. He drowned himself to the lake Bodom in 1969 and people said he confessed murdering the youngsters before this. His neighbor told that he had said: "It was me who killed them". Gyllström had apparently filled and closed his well on his yard couple days after the murders and that led to his house and yard being carefully searched. However nothing was found, though it is possible all the stolen belongings had been discarded. Gyllström's son-in-law has been told to be certain that the murder weapon lies at the bottom of the closed and filled well. According to the police, Gyllström had an alibi for the night, an alibi that had been confirmed by Gyllström's wife. His wife had told that she had been up all night and according to her, Gyllström hadn't left the house. However, shortly before the wife died she told that Gyllström had threatened to kill her if she told the truth. What truth? Who knows.
Hans Assman (b. 1923, d. 1998)
Tumblr media
One of the most known suspect was German-born Hans Assman, who has also been suspected to being a KGB spy. On 6th of June 1960 Assman was brought to Helsinki surgical hospital where he acted in a very weird way. People in the hospital also noticed how unkempt Assman was: his fingernails were very dirty and his clothes were full of red stains. Assman lied to the hospital staff the reason for his condition but he told the truth about his way of living (he lived about 5 km (3 miles) away from the lake). He also pretended to being unconscious and he was aggressive and nervous. Assman's description reminded a lot of the description of the suspect. When the news informed the characteristics of the suspect, Assman cut his hair short.
Jorma Palo who at the time worked in the hospital as an amanuensis was very certain Assman was the killer. Many people from the hospital's staff also agreed with Palo. The police met with Assman very briefly and they did not want to discuss with the hospital staff. They also did not take Assman's stained clothes for inspection. Palo later wrote three books about the murders and about Assman. Former detective inspector Matti Paloaro connected Assman to five other murders as well, among them the murder of Kyllikki Saari and even the death of minister Penna Tervo. Assman was a perfect match for the description given by Gustafsson and Olavi. However according to the police Assman had a perfect alibi. It wasn't revealed for the public that time though, because it had a sensitive nature.
The documents about Assman became public in 2005. According to them Assman had been with his girlfriend during the night. She lived as a subtenant and her landlord and -lady saw Assman sitting eating breakfast in the morning. The documents verify that then 36 year old Assman did spent the night in the apartment (located in Helsinki) during the murders. Assman had had this affair going on for years (he had a wife). Assman slept in the same bed with his 33 year old girlfriend. The bedroom door had been open for the entire night and no one noticed Assman leaving at any point during the night (apparently if he would’ve left, it would have been noticed). Assman woke up at 9 am and at that time the murders had already been committed and the first passerby's had noticed the collapsed tent. According to the police the red stains on Assman's clothing were paint that he had used while at work. Jorma Palo was the one who suspected Assman being a KGB agent and that he was being protected. The police has been saying that Palo's books were pure fiction.
Two people fishing
The two young men who were fishing on the lake during the murders were never identified. They never came forward to the police even though it was asked multiple times. What was weird is that the two men left the fish they caught behind. Nothing is known of them.
Nils Gustafsson
Tumblr media Tumblr media
44 years after the murders in 2004 the lone survivor Nils Gustafsson was suddenly arrested as a suspect. The blood samples gathered from the tent supported Gustafsson being the perpetrator. The police also informed that DNA technology revealed things that couldn't be found back in the 60s. However during the trial nothing significant was uncovered from the samples.
Gustafsson has been saying he doesn't remember anything about the murders since the day one and that hasn't changed. He thinks he got brain damage from the attack and that resulted to amnesia. During the trial an important point was to find out whether the blows to his head were strong enough to result to amnesia. The prosecutors tried strongly to belittle the injuries Gustafsson suffered and they claimed he exaggerated them.
According to the prosecutors Gustafsson and Seppo Boisman had been drinking on the night of the murders and then started to have an argument. The prosecutors also claimed that Maila Björklund had turned down Gustafsson's sexual advances and this would've led to Gustafsson losing his temper. The claim is supported by the stabbing wounds on Björklund's body: according to the coroner she was stabbed 15 times.
The district court excluded all the charges on 7th of October 2005. According to it nothing proved that Gustafsson murdered his friends. They disqualified the jealousy claims also. They excluded everything because the eye witness sightings were pointing to an outsider perpetrator.
The investigation and trial got a lot of attention but Gustafsson was freed in 2005. The prosecutors did not complain about the verdict to the court of appeals.
Gustafsson gave one very rare press conference. During it journalists were very aggressive with their approach and pointed out the illogical things in the things he had said: it was weird he claimed he didn't remember anything but at the same time he remembered that he for sure wasn't the one who murdered his friends. Gustafsson didn't explain himself further though, he stated: "I am innocent and that's that."
The National Bureau of Investigation had an investigator who testified something very interesting. He claimed that after Gustafsson had been arrested he had said: "What is done is done, I got fifteen years", which was seen to be a confession. This testify wasn’t told immediately though, it was only told during the trial. Gustafsson himself said he doesn't remember saying anything like that and if he did, it was simply a joke. The district court stated that it wasn't investigated properly. They also said: "The fact that the saying did not lead to any action points to the fact that even if Gustafsson would've said it, it wasn't a confession and even the investigator who heard it in the first place did not think that way either during the time."
To this day the murders are still unsolved and it is believed by many Finns that they will never be solved.

Lex Luthor with 33?
before writing- oof vibes are only angst but i do have an idea (also yes im using Kit if u remember him then u deserve a veterans award for remembering my useless bitches i create while writing)
after writing- using my dads quotes that he told me at a young age is really making me cry but its for the plot. also poor kit. f in the chat everybody also got too invested in this so yes theres a bonus
ilomilo - billie eilish
the gala was the longest one you had been to yet. you were almost glad, however. it gave you more time to talk to kit.
kit was the nicest boy you’ve ever met. he was the one to give you a view on the outside world. he was the one to help you make new friends in your situations. he was the one to treat you like an actual human being.
and here he was, sitting with you and laughing on your phones about some meme you’ve seen. he was the one who you liked: like, really liked. had a crush on kind of liked.
it felt stupid. it even felt childish. you didn’t want to have these feelings. it made you feel like a child. you didn’t want to have these feelings so you wouldn’t be hurt. even if you knew most of his words weren’t true, lex had always warned you about boys at a young age. how did he put it?
“the only thing they will think about when they look at you is how they can improve their status or how they can manipulate you. do you understand me?”
he always made you promise that no, you weren’t going to get a boyfriend, or a girlfriend, for that matter. he said that the only thing that you would end up with is a broken heart and a messed up sense of trust. he said you would just be running from one person to another trying to gain love only to be dropped after they got what was needed out of you.
and even if you knew that his words were just to keep you with him, that doesn’t mean they just went out of your head. after you hear things for a while, they start to become real. you didn’t want to have lex tell you something along the lines of “i told you so”
however, whenever you were with kit, it felt like those worries weren’t even there. even if there was a nagging feeling about trusting him, you ignored it because of what kit gave you: freedom.
he wouldn’t only talk to you because you were _____ luthor, he wouldn’t only talk to you just because he wanted your money, or power, he wanted to talk to you because of you. he liked who you were as a person, not who you were as a child of a celebrity.
maybe that’s why you gained a crush on him. because he reminded you of before you met lex. maybe you just liked him as a person, like he did you.
“_____, did you see what happened last night?” kit had asked, still snickering from the news article he showed you. you laughed.
“oh, wow, what party did you attend to this time?”
“none, at all actually: the entire city was on lockdown.”
“really?” you asked, turning to him. “which villain caused a mass murder this time, then?”
kit shrugged. “not really a mass murder, more of a... robbery.”
you rolled your eyes. “really? a city lockdown because of a small robbery?”
“a small robbery from one of lexcorp’s own warehouses.”
that got your attention. “how much?”
“a small multi-million dollar heist-”
“oh, stop making fun of me, I didn’t know!”
“it was a small price to pay, apparently-”
“stop!” you playfully shoved him out of his seat, and he fell right on his ass. you gasped and when you saw that he wasn’t moving, you quickly got up and bent down to where he was sitting. “kit? goddamnit, kit-”
when he jumped up from the ground, his hands acting like they were going to grab you, you jumped back. stumbling, the back of you knee caught the seat you were sitting on, so instead of falling on your own ass, you fell into the seat.
as he laughed, you whispered, “kit, you ass!” he sat back into his chair, before saying (between laughs), “sorry, sorry. it was too much of a good opportunity to miss.” you huffed and went on the phone he had given you. you looked at the news, and sure enough, there was a robbery on one of the lexcorp warehouses, and yes, the things that were stolen were at least millions of dollars in profit.
“now that i’m looking at it, maybe that’s why my dad was all talking last night.”
“of course he would be, ______, there was millions of dollar worth of tech stolen-”
“oh, i know, kit, don’t be a bitch!”
it was silent for a little while, besides showing each other memes and laughing. it felt nice. it wasn’t awkward, in fact it was nice. just showing your friend funny photos that made you laugh was enough for you.
1:10. this was the latest you’ve ever been at a gala. it was supposed to last until 4, so you could understand why, but it still felt weird. it was like... going to school at night. you recognize the place, but it felt so weird.
“hey, _____.” you turned towards kit, who was now looking at a blank screen.
“yeah, what’s up?”
“you said that... you said that you’re never allowed to go anywhere, right? that you don’t even know where your real family is?”
you shifted uncomfortably. “well, yes, but why are you asking me this?”
his fingers turned white from the pressure on his phone. “well... you don’t seem happy whenever you’re with him, I guess. it feels like you don’t want to be there.
you could say that again.
“and... and you’ve been my friend for months, now... I don’t want to see you hurt because of someone else’s actions... so... I was wondering if... you wanted to live with me?”
the last bit came out rushed, and yet, it still made you wonder. what if you could leave? what if you could live with your friend, your only friend, instead of your over protective father?
“I know its stupid, I shouldn’t have asked that. it’s fine.” he continued.
“no, it’s... comforting.” you looked at him straight in the eyes. “I’m glad that you like me so much you would risk me being in your house. of course, I’m going to have to say no, but I still... I still appreciate that you would ask that.”
he gave you a small smile, and asked, “are you sure you’re going to be ok?”
you smiled at him. “maybe. I don’t know. if I don’t, then I could always take up your offer.”
you both sat in silence for a while, before his phone buzzed. looking at your phone, you saw it was at least 1:40. almost time to go. and you didn’t want mercy, or pray to god, lex to find you with him.
looking at kit, you asked, “you wanna head back?”
he smiled. “yeah. lets go back before we both fall on our asses.”
~~~~~
walking down the large corridor felt strange. it was like something was going to happen soon. you didn’t know what, but something.
“so then, I asked him why he was being such an asshole, and he told me-”
“______.”
turning around, you saw mercy standing just a few meters away from you both. you quickly set some distance in between the two of you, to make sure that you were following the rules, but she didn’t seemed focused on you. instead, she was focused on kit.
she gave a small nod of acknowledgement to him. “kit is your name, right?”
he gave a shaky nod. “where were you last night?”
“excuse me-”
“where were you. last night.” every word seemed to be gritted out of her teeth.
“well, I was in my home. with my father. why?”
“really? at home with your father? and not at my warehouse, stealing my technology?”
you almost didn’t want lex to be here, but you also wanted to know why mercy hadn’t shot out kit’s brains yet.
“wh- excuse me?”
lex rolled his eyes. “I don’t need to hear excuses from you, boy, what I want to know is why you were stealing my tech, and why you used my daughter as your way to get this tech.”
wait, what?
“you’ve been using me for what?”
kit seemed to be panicking. did he- was he really using you for that?
“oh, you think I wouldn’t have found out? giving my daughter a phone so you could get into my systems and find out the codes for the doors? that you’ve been using my money for months without my knowledge? that you’ve been using my daughter for you own gain? for your own families gain?”
turning to him, you saw him try to make up some excuse about whatever he had done, but it was too late.
“freeze! put your hands in the air!”
you didn’t even see the police in the hallway, only mercy dragging you out towards the exit of the gala.
when you turned back to kit, you felt like a child. did you really trust him? did you trust him this much for it to be that he was only using you? you didn’t want to think about it. the only thing you wanted was to go home.
________________
BONUS:
“did you really think you could take my daughter away from me?”
looking up from his seat, kit saw lex sitting across from him. currently, they were in a courthouse. waiting for his trial.
“... it’s not right to keep her inside like a pet.”
he knew he pissed off lex now, but he didn’t care. his life was ruined now. it shouldn’t matter.
lex got out of his chair and said, “you know, I was thinking of letting you off on a plea deal, but honestly, now, I’m thinking of giving you a worse fate than your father.”
a plea deal? kit froze. did he just throw out any chance to see you again?
“if you’re thinking you just threw out a chance to see my daughter again, you’re right, but lets be real here:”
lex put his hands on the table and got close to kits face, barely inches away.
“she will never look at you the same way after you go to prison for 58 years.”
and with that, lex left kit to rot in his own depression, happy to give the boy more pain than ever.
The Awakening - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
“You like this?” Elon asked squinting his eyes and pointing at the colossal piece of metal standing just a few feet away from them. The 120-meter-tall rocket was definitely a sight to behold. Elon lowered his hand to look at Sabrina, her face in complete awe looking at his creation.
“It’s alright.” She said sarcastically grinning. “Can I get one?”
“You want a rocket? What would you do with it?” Elon smiled, the long black coat he was wearing moving along with the wind.
“Go around.” Sabrina said.
“This one is yours then.” He said jokingly pushing her.
“Here, I’ll show you the rest of the facility.” He said taking her hand and guiding her.
They went around for the next hour or so, Elon had to be in his office doing some work and took the opportunity to finally show Sabrina the new things he was working on, not wanting to have her stay at home away from him. He was so proud of his position at SpaceX, it was his little love-project, and there was no better feeling for him than to be close to his two adorations.
Finally, they went back to his office. Elon sat behind his desk while Sabrina sat in front of him going through something on her phone.
Alec: Are you at home?
Sabrina: No, I’m with E at his office.
A near instant response buzzed on her palm.
Alec: I’ll pick you up in 10.
Sabrina gave her phone a dirty look, she didn’t exactly want to explain the last couple of days to her friend. She knew what he’d say.
“Everything okay, Sab?” Elon asked, taking his eyes off his computer for a moment.
“Yeah.” She smiled. “I have this thing with Alec… I also have to go to my office later.”
“You’re always slipping away.” Elon’s lips now forming a subtle smile.
“Well, I like to keep it mysterious.” Sabrina said. “You want to join us for lunch?”
“I can’t, sweetheart. I’m way behind on some stuff here.” He ran a hand through his hair, visibly annoyed.
“I know, I know. I’ll see you later then” she pressed her palms on the desk to lean forward and kiss him.
He cupped her face with his hands, taking her sweet taste in.
“I’ll miss you.” He whispered, still close to her.
“I’ll make it up to you.” She smiled, thinking of a good couple of ways to make it up to him, possibly in his bedroom.
Sabrina walked out of the building, her sneakers making little noises as she stepped through the polished floors, jeans and a leather black jacket covering her from the cold breeze. She smiled as soon as she saw Alec’s sport car waiting for her in the parking lot.
“Hey.” Sabrina said hopping in the car.
“Why are you acting all jolly?” He asked half smiling. A white button-up shirt scrunched up showing the tattoos that decorated his arms, a small heart with an S on his forearm.
“I’m always jolly, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Sabrina said, buckling her seatbelt and then looking at his friend.
Alec and Sabrina were both standing in front of the elevator waiting for the doors to open. The entrance of the building Alec lived positioned behind them, marble white floor decorating the lounge and desk area, expensive chandeliers falling from the high ceilings.
When the doors opened, they stepped aside to let a couple of people walk off and then Sabrina walked in followed by her blonde-haired friend.
She quickly pressed the PH button urging Alec to slide his key-card through the sensor.
“Where’s your key?” He asked putting away his.
“I left it at home.” She responded continuously pressing the button to close the door.
“Stop.” Alec laughed. “It’s already pressed.” He placed his hands on her waist pushing her aside.
Sabrina smiled trying to regain her balance as the elevator doors closed.  They opened again to expose Alec’s multi-million-dollar penthouse. A place Sabrina was too familiar with, she felt at home here. Everything was neatly ordered, from the fuzzy blankets on the living room to the white flowers placed on the kitchen counter. The smell of Italian food quickly flooding Sabrina’s senses. She hopped on the kitchen counter and grabbed a slice of pizza. Alec leaned on the counter in front of her, crossing his arms and looking at her.
“You’re annoying.” He finally said.
“Why?” She asked, still eating. “Are you still angry?”
“You totally ditched me for your stupid boyfriend.” Alec said.
“I thought you wanted us together in the first place.” She smiled. “And I didn’t ditch you, Alec.”
“You hurt my feelings, I’m such a good friend you know, you don’t appreciate me.” A sharp tone coming from him, now leaning to grab some Pizza.
“I totally do.” She said lightly kicking him. She frowned remembering the night of the assault.
“Hey.” Alec said, reaching out to Sabrina. “I just worry so much about you, are you doing alright?”
“I don’t know.” She unknowingly said. “I don’t wanna talk about it.”
Alec shoot one last worried look to his friend before giving up the subject. The remaining of the meal they spent catching up and talking nonsense with each other, both comforted by the security they gave one another.  A high voice coming from the hallway interrupted their conversation.
“Sabrina!” A short blonde-haired woman approached them almost running, wearing only a long T-Shirt -that Sabrina assumed Alec’s- and some underwear.
Sabrina raised an eyebrow at Alec. He shrugged.
“Hey, Natalie.” Sabrina said making her words last longer, smiling at the girl. “I didn’t know you were here.”
“Oh, I’m so happy to see you.” Natalie jumped to put her arms around Sabrina’s neck wrapping her in an uncomfortable hug. “Honey, I’m so sorry about what happened.” Natalie said. “The world is really crazy.” She continued, pouting.
“Yeah.” Sabrina forcingly said. Alec’s girlfriend often got on her nerves. She was as obnoxious as she looked, Sabrina often wondered what Alec had seen in her, other than the fact that she was beautiful- there was nothing too interesting about her.
Alec scoffed.
“Baby I didn’t know you were going to be home for lunch, I would’ve cooked something.” She said placing her arms now around Alec’s neck. The tall guy not moving an inch.
“I didn’t know you were still here.” He sincerely said.
“Well, of course, silly.” Natalie said, now kissing him. Sabrina rolled her eyes.
Alec smiled enjoying the feeling of annoying his best friend.
“I also heard that you’re back with Elon.” Natalie finally separated from Alec. “We should go out to dinner, the four of us.” She smiled. Her green eyes shining.
“Don’t encourage her.” Alec said. “I don’t want them together.”
“Yes!” Sabrina bolted, suddenly interested in the conversation. “What a great idea, would love that.”
“Honey, be happy for your friend.” Natalie said, scolding her boyfriend.
“Yes, Alec. Be happy for me.” Sabrina smiled teasing him. He shook his head.
Natalie finally let go of Alec to go grab a plate to eat. He took advantage of her being away to talk to his friend.
“So, are you moving in with him?” Alec asked.
“No.” Sabrina said. “I just don’t wanna be home right now.” Understandably.
“I don’t know what we’re doing or where we stand.” She continued.
“You never know with him! That’s what I’m telling you.” Alec said gesturing with his hands.
“I know. But we’re trying. He’s done with his ex-wife.” Sabrina said.
“I sure hope so.” he said. “Listen, why don’t you stay here instead, you don’t have to be at his house.”
“I will be back at my place, or here. If that makes you feel better” she smiled.
“It does.” he grinned.
After the encounter with Alec, Sabrina made her way to her office where she spent more than half of the day catching up with the work that she hadn’t done the days before. Somehow, keeping her mind focused on work made her feel a little bit more like herself, being at work and being with Elon took her back to months ago where the two of them had been together for the first time, before it all got ruined. She shrugged those thoughts out of her head.
When the clock struck 6, she texted Elon to remind him about dinner at her parent’s place. She bit her lip in anticipation unsure of how the evening would go.
At exactly 7pm Sabrina arrived at her parent’s house, stepping out of the cab she took a deep breath before entering.
She found her mother in the kitchen, preparing dinner. Her brown hair perfectly blew out giving it lots of volume matching the dramatic vibes from her makeup. The tall-ish woman catching a glimpse of her daughter before hugging her.
“My love.” She said.
“Hi, mom.” Sabrina hugged her back.
“Look at you, all pretty.” Her mom muttered, her brown eyes brightly placed on Sabrina.
“You too.” Sabrina said.
“Dad is in the living room.”
45 minutes later, Sabrina’s three-person family was sitting in the living room together, making small talk while they waited for her estranged boyfriend to arrive.
“Well, is he gonna grace us with his presence?” Her dad finally asked, watching as Sabrina texted him again.
“Of course, dad.” Sabrina annoyingly said. “We can eat, I’m sure he’ll be here soon.”
Sabrina felt a vortex of emotions forming inside of her as they all ate dinner. All except Elon. She tried to appease her father as long as she could while her mother tried to ease the tension between them, as she always would do. Her mind couldn’t come up with a single reason of why Elon wouldn’t be there or wouldn’t be texting her or calling her. She really hoped there was a reason.
20 minutes later the sound of a car’s door closing followed by a loud sound of something breaking startled Sabrina. Then, the door bell rang.
“I’ll get it.” Sabrina stood up hurrying through the foyer to reach the door. She opened it to find a -highly- intoxicated Elon barely standing in front of it.
“Baby.” He said smiling. “I’m here.” He motioned with his hands. He sloppily slammed his lips on Sabrina’s where she could taste the strong taste of whiskey. She moved away.
“Are you serious right now?” She asked. “What the hell?”
“Shh” he shushed her, ignoring her and walking into the house. “What a beautiful house, do I get a tour?”
“Stop, for real.” Sabrina hurried behind him trying to stop him from falling.
“No, baby. I’m here to meet your parents.” He walked through the entrance to the dinning room where Sabrina’s parents where sitting.
As he entered, Sabrina’s dad shoot an angry look at his daughter, her mom still smiling squeezing her husband’s arm.
“Oh, how nice to finally meet you.” Sabrina’s mom stood up. “I’m Rachel, you’ve met Richard.” She smiled.
Elon gave her a wide smile promptly hugging her.
“Likewise, I see where Sabrina got her beauty.” He spoke. Sabrina waiting behind him, not sure of what was going on.
“Elon.” Richard said. Sabrina frowned trying to decipher the tone of her dad’s voice.
“Sir, good to see you in this environment.” Elon jokingly spoke. “I brought you a bottle of whiskey but I’m afraid I lost it on the way.”
“Oh god.” Sabrina whispered.
“Sit, please.” Rachel laughed sitting down again, followed by her husband. “Sabrina, come sit.” She urged her daughter, trying to lighten the situation.
“I think we’ll just go, mom.” Sabrina started to say.
“Sit.” Richard spoke, clearly displeased.
“Yes, baby, I just got here.” Elon said, sitting down.
Sabrina sat down next to Elon, the dim light coming from the spots above them shone through her face, not letting any emotion go unnoticed.
“We just finished eating but I can heat you up a plate.” Rachel said.
“No, mom it’s okay.” Sabrina answered for him. Elon looked at her confused.
“I’ll bring you a piece of pie. You like pie, don’t you? Of course you must like pie.” Rachel hurried to the kitchen while Sabrina buried her face into her hands.
“Honey, cheer up.” Elon drunkenly said, rubbing Sabrina’s back. She scoffed, looking up.
“How’s work going? I-I saw you won an award on TV.” Elon continued, now talking to Richard, his hand still on Sabrina’s back.
“I did, work’s going well. I saw you got sued on TV.” Richard said.
“Richard, don’t be rude.” Rachel said placing a perfect plate in front of Elon, then, sitting down.
“Well, it’s true. Isn’t it?”
“Yeah, uh- It’s complicated” Elon began.
“You’re also married.” Richard continued.
“Divorcing.” Elon said, visibly uncomfortable.
“Dad stop.” Sabrina said.
“I’m just getting to know him, what’s the big deal?” He said brushing it off. “You’ve got quite a reputation. Not a good one.”
“I understand.” Elon nodded.
Sabrina moved in her seat while Elon began eating. Rachel still smiling, not breaking her perfect trophy-wife appearance even for a second.
“This pie is so good.” Elon said.
“Thank you, I made it myself.” Rachel said. “Sabrina makes a good pie too, you know. She’s a great cook.”
Elon took a moment to smile at Sabrina. He thought she looked so beautiful with that concerned look on her face.
“Of course. She is good at absolutely everything.” He said.
Sabrina laughed looking at his drunken boyfriend. Her father cleared his throat, uncomfortable.
“I would like to know what your intentions with my daughter are. Other than disturbing her life, seemingly.” Richard said.
“Not disturbing her life.” Elon said. “I’m in love with your daughter.” He grabbed Sabrina’s hand.
Sabrina smiled and gave her father a cautious look.
“Right.” Richard said.
Rachel leaned into her husband’s arm. “We appreciate that you take care of her.” She looked at Richard, he rolled his eyes and raised his hands not wanting to elaborate on the subject.
“He does take care of me. And he brings so much value into my life, dad. Believe it or not.” Sabrina said.
Elon nodded.
“You need to relax. Let your daughter live a little.” Elon let out, his tone not firm at all- influenced by the substances going through him-. Sabrina’s eyes widened.
Richard shoot a look at his daughter, not having to say a word.
“Okay, I think we’ll better leave this for another time.” Sabrina said standing up. Elon looked up at her, muddled.
“It was very nice meeting you, Elon.” Rachel hurried. “Hopefully, we can repeat this at a better time.”
“My pleasure, anytime, I’ll be here.” Elon said.
They awkwardly said their goodbyes and Sabrina helped Elon balance himself while they walked towards the outside of the house, there, she found his car parked in a completely chaotic way. She secured his seatbelt while he complained about it and then slammed the passenger door.
“Don’t slam the door.” Elon complained as she hopped on the driver’s seat.
“You are fucking unbelievable.” She muttered.
He frowned.
“What’s with the attitude? I thought it went well.” Elon said.
“You knew how important this was for me. And you got here almost 2 hours late, drunk and now my dad probably hates you.” Sabrina said starting the car and driving off to Elon’s house. “And you drove here drunk.”
“It was on autopilot.” He defended himself. “Kinda.”
Sabrina shook her head, disappointed. Her palms pressing the car wheel.
“Baby, I’m sorry.” Elon pleaded, suddenly feeling miserable. He grabbed Sabrina’s forearm queuing her to look at him. But she wouldn’t. He sat back and closed his eyes while he felt the world around him spin away. The soft movement of the car revolving his stomach. He sighed.
Elon opened his eyes again as Sabrina was opening the door to help him get down of the car. He leaned on her to walk to his bedroom, her small figure steadily holding him. When they finally reached the bed, he let himself fall into it, his legs hanging from the edge. Sabrina cautiously took his shoes off and hopped on top of him to unbutton his shirt.
“Am I getting lucky tonight? I thought you were angry?” Elon grinned, his vision blurry.
Sabrina shook her head. He moved causing her to fall on top of him completely and then he surrounded her with his arms.
“My girl. So pretty.” He sloppily kissed her.
“Stop.” Sabrina laughed pushing him away. “You’re incorrigible.” She finished taking his clothes off and walked into the bathroom to change herself, when she went back, she found a peaceful Elon -now- sleeping. Sabrina limited herself to climb next to him and sleep it off.
And during this time, Anna begins to notice there are peculiar things about Elsa’s life she wished she could understand. Everything starts to make sense after a family reunion. Modern AU. Kristanna - Frohana - Kristoff & Elsa BrOTP. Chapters 1 to 10 - Here   Chapters 11 to 20 - Here Chapter 21 - What to do Chapter 22 - What’s there to lose? Chapter 23 - Seek the truth Chapter 24 - An abrupt end
- A fresh start
Anna took a deep breath when the old SUV came to a stop in front of a familiar house on Southern Street. Marshall had commented he wasn't planning to hit Hans when he requested his address for the last time; he even assured Anna he only wanted to talk and make sure the young Westergaard told his father the truth. Yet, Anna knew Hans, she knew how irritating he could be whenever he wanted, and something told her he was going to drive Marshall mad, making all her progress useless.
She watched Marshmallow step out of the vehicle and the little confidence she had in him vanished. No matter how much she wanted to believe Marshall's words, she feared he'd lose his head anyway.
Stepping out of the car herself, Anna began following him, but he stopped and demanded she returned to the car. "I just want to make sure you don’t do anything stupid," she admitted.
"There's no need for you to get involved," he insisted. "I know he's your ex boyfriend and I don't want you to get in unnecessary trouble." Marshall turned around and walked to the front door, not giving Anna the chance to contradict him.
Not knowing what was best for her to do, Anna complied and leaned on the side of the car to wait for him. She watched him knock and while he waited, she prayed for the door to remain closed. To her dismay, the door did open and Hans, of all people, came out.
At first, things seemed to go well — or at least that's what she believed. She couldn’t hear what they were talking about due to the distance between the front door and the sidewalk, but Marshall seemed to stay calm and collected. Making Anna hopeful things could indeed turn out okay.
She was trying to understand their words, when the presence of her boyfriend standing by her side startled her. "Kristoff! Elsa?” she asked when she saw the girl close by too. “What are you doing here?"
Kristoff put a hand on her shoulder. “You ran after Marshall and didn't give us enough time to catch up. We agreed it was best to come. Just in case.”
“Marshall didn’t change his mind, did he?” asked Elsa as she watched the mountaineer having an argument with Hans in the distance.
At Elsa’s question, Anna returned her attention to what was going on around them. The conversation between Marshall and Hans had transformed into a heated argument so fast she hadn't even noticed. “He said he had changed his mind about beating Hans to a pulp… But he still insisted on talking to him.”
Elsa nodded, understanding there was little Anna could do to change Marshmallow's pigheadedness. She turned around, to see what was going on when she saw Marshall holding Hans by his shirt’s collar against the wall. “Oh, no, no. Marshall, what are you doing?!” she yelled trying to get his attention but it was useless.
“I better stop him,” said Kristoff before running to the house. Acting on instinct, he grabbed Marshmallow’s free arm and held it tight, hoping it was enough to stop him.
“What the heck are you doing here, Kristoff?” Marshall asked, turning around to glare at him.
“Marshall, let go of him. Come on.” His calm tone of voice did nothing to placate the angry mountaineer.
“Listen to your friend there,” said Hans in a hoarse voice. “Let go of me, you beast. Get lost.”
“Do you think you can lie to your father, get me fired and get away with it?”
“I've got no idea what you're talking about." Hans grabbed Marshall’s hand in a desperate attempt to free himself. But before he could achieve anything, he felt the air leave his lungs as Marshall slammed him against the brick wall.
“Cut the crap! I won't have my reputation tarnished by your false accusations.”
Kristoff pulled from Marshmallow's arm with more force after this and  made an effort not to let go. He was determined to stop the mountaineer, even if his strength scared him a little. He tried to talk Marshall out of his idea, when Hans surprised them both by insulting the mountaineer. Anyone in Hans’ situation would've stopped attacking his agresor verbally, but he continued as if he wanted Marshall to react.
“Reputation?” laughed Hans. “What reputation are you talking about? No one knows who you are. No-one cares. Well, no-one except that dense uneducated girl you fancy, but that’s worse than nothing, isn’t it?”
“I'll rip your head off!” Marshall tried to move his right arm to punch the man against the wall but it was stopped by Kristoff’s hold, who offered a sheepish smile and a mumbled apology in return.
Hans took advantage of his attacker’s distraction and, grabbing Marshall’s left arm to pull himself upward, he kicked him in the stomach. The moment Marshall leaned forward in pain, he hit him right square in the face, the second blow allowing him to free himself and run a few meters away to where they were standing.
Kristoff watched his friend receive a kick and a punch in the face in the lapse of a few seconds, and felt terribly guilty for having allowed it. But if he was honest, not once had he imagined Hans would take a chance so risky against a guy so strong; and it was only after Marshall fell to his knees, trying to catch his breath, that Kristoff noticed how hard Hans had hit him by the blood gushing from a cut under his left eye.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” yelled Kristoff to Hans, not believing he had actually done something so stupid. “Have you got no self-preservation?!”
Hans only laughed as he shook his right hand to get rid of the pain. “You're pathetic, Marshmallow."
Kristoff opened his eyes astounded and looked at the man kneeling by his side. No-one in their right mind would try to make a guy like Marshall even angrier. The next thing he did was tighten his hold on Marshall’s arm, knowing he’d try to go after Hans as soon as the pain and stun feeling subsided. For a moment, Kristoff wondered if it was smart of him to try stopping Marshall a second time; after all, he didn’t want to be on his bad side too.
However, before Kristoff could make up his mind, a voice he didn’t recognise came from the front door of the house, distracting him.
“What the hell is going on here?” a tall man, who looked a few years older than Hans, asked.
Before Kristoff could explain the strange situation they were all in, Anna and Elsa appeared by his side. Elsa stopped and kneeled beside Marshall making sure he was okay. Anna, on the other hand, continued running until she was standing in front of the unknown man.
“Jonas,” she said. “Help us calm Marshall down and we'll be on our way.” If there was someone in the Westergaard family who could help them, Anna knew it was him.
“Anna?” It’d been years since he’d last seen his brother’s ex-girlfriend and he couldn't hide his surprise. “What are you doing here? And what is going on?”
“You should ask your brother.” She looked at Hans with disdain. “He's the one who started all this.”
Jonas looked at his brother and then at the man kneeling on the floor. He knew it was useless to try to talk to Hans if it wasn’t in private, so he walked straight to his father’s employee. Jonas knew Marshall from the resort and he was certain he wouldn’t be angry at his younger brother without a good reason. “Hålkesen,” he called Marshall’s attention. “What happened?”
Marshall looked at Jonas for a moment and then at Kristoff who was still tightly holding his right arm. Knowing he couldn’t get past both men, he pointed to where Hans was standing before explaining his situation. “That piece of shit is stealing from your father, and he framed me.”
“Bullshit!” yelled Hans in his defense.
Getting tired of the situation, Anna decided to step in. “Admit you lied, Hans. Admit you took the money.” She had tried to remain on the sidelines, but Hans had gone too far to let him get away this time. “All Marshall did was save your neck and yet this is how you pay him.”
Jonas looked at Anna and then at Hans again. “Is it true Hans?”
Hans didn’t answer. Instead, he looked at Marshmallow and smirked. “Calling Anna to stand up for you… Have you got no self-respect?”
All the self-restraint Marshall had been able to maintain disappeared at this. He stood up and began walking towards Hans, even if it meant dragging Kristoff with him.
Elsa on her part did her best to remain in control of her powers, as she held Marshall's other arm. She hoped they could stop him and help him go back to his senses before he did something he could regret. "He's trying to get on your nerves. He knows you've got everything to lose," said Elsa, not knowing if he was even listening.
"Hans, could you shut up?" yelled Jonas, noticing Marshall was set to kick his younger brother’s arse. He then walked to where Marshall was and stood in front of him, blocking his view. "Hålkesen, stop struggling or I'll call the police."
"I've had enough of your brother's treatment, Jonas. If I can't teach him the lesson he deserves to learn, then at least promise me you will do something about this!" Marshall said, finally understanding he had no way to get to Hans without being stopped, his anger was slowly transforming into frustration.
Even though Hans had no reason to be stealing from their father, there was a small part of Jonas that believed in Marshall’s word. After all, not once had he done anything to raise suspicions. His brother on the other side… Well, he didn’t have a clean record. "I'll talk to Hans. I'll even talk to my father if that's what you want. But I won't unless you leave our property. Now," he stressed, hoping his promise would be enough for Marshall to change his mind.
"Let's go, Marshall. Please," begged Elsa one last time. She was getting tired of suppressing her powers and she needed him to stop struggling so she could let go of his arm. She thanked the heavens how distracted Marshmallow was not to notice how extremely cold her hands were. To her good luck, after a few more seconds, she felt him relax under and he bowed his head in defeat. Soon after, Kristoff murmured it was best to take him back to the car before he changed his mind, and so they did.
"Same goes to you and your friends, Anna," clarified Jonas, even though he was watching Elsa and Kristoff pulling Marshmallow towards the SUV.
"We'll go," Anna assured him. "Thank you Jonas."
Anna could only take a few steps to the car when the voice of Hans stopped her.
"Everytime I see you you've found a new way to embarrass yourself, Anna." He got closer to her to make sure she listened. "Are you so desperate to be loved you'd stand up for that brute man and your slow-witted friend? You're better than them."
"What did you just say?" Anna had heard him correctly, but she still couldn't believe he'd try to pick up a fight after everything that had happened. She tried to remain calm so not to call the others' attention, especially Marshall's.
"Hans. Cut it out…" warned his older brother, but he still pushed forward.
"To think there was a time I thought you were someone worthy of respect."
"You’re disgusting." Anna didn't care what he thought of her, but she despised the fact he was only insulting her for her friend, and most importantly her family.
"Go teach that barbarian some manners. And while you're at it, teach his girlfriend how to read, will you?" he snickered. "I'm still surprised he's managed to find someone more pathetic than him."
Anna spinned on her heel and faced Hans, she had had enough of his abuse and fake superiority. "Take that back."
"What if I don't?"
Anna didn't know what took over her body. She wasn't sure if it was the stressful situation or the fact her sister had endured enough abuse in her childhood to tolerate Hans' comments. But before she could stop herself, she punched Hans in the nose so hard he collapsed.
--
"I can't believe you knocked him out!" exclaimed Kristoff in disbelief and a strange mixture of anger and pride. He was clearly amazed at his girlfriend's strength. But still, he couldn't believe she had done exactly what they had been trying to avoid all evening.
After the incident, Kristoff had urged Anna inside Marshall's SUV as well, he had apologised to Hans' older brother and took off in the car even though it wasn’t his own. It was only after a few minutes, when they were on their way to Anna's House that the four of them had begun discussing what happened.
"We travelled all the way here just to stop Marshall from doing something stupid," continued Kristoff. "Once we had everything under control and Jonas' promise to find out what had really happened, you decided to punch Hans? I can't understand your reasoning sometimes."
"Hans had it coming. That's all I'm going to say about it." She was still annoyed by Hans' comments about her sister, but she knew it was best not to let the rest know what had triggered her reaction. Elsa didn't need to hear his nasty comments, and Hans didn't need Marshall and Kristoff's warmth combined. Besides, she knew she had hurt more than his nose with the blow she gave him. She had hurt his pride, and she was more than pleased with that.
"Thanks, Anna." Marshmallow's hoarse voice said from the back. He was sitting right behind Kristoff, tilting his head back as he tried to stop the blood that was still running down his face. To his good luck, Elsa was helping stop the bleeding by keeping a cold piece of cloth over it.
"And you, big guy," said Kristoff, changing his target as he looked at Marshall over the rearview mirror. "I thought you had changed your mind about hitting Hans."
Marshall looked straight back at him with an annoyed expression. "Was I supposed to remain calm while he lied to me, insulted me and insulted Elsa?"
"Not exactly, but you could have managed the situation differently."
"Wait,” said Elsa speaking for the first time since they had gotten into the car. “Why was he insulting me?"
"Because he's an idiot. That's all," said Marshall in a hurry before she tried to find a logical answer.
Kristoff and Anna rolled their eyes at Elsa's blindness, she was the only one inside the car who failed to see what was crystal clear even to someone as obtuse as Hans. But they didn't say anything, not even Anna who thought it was best to let Elsa understand how important she was to the mountaineer at her own time.
After that an uncomfortable silence set inside the car, no-one knowing what to say or do.
Surprisingly, Marshall was the first to talk, "I don't understand why you wouldn't let me drive."
Elsa looked at him tiredly before explaining the obvious. "You're bleeding and you've got a black eye. You're coming home with us."
He wanted to say it wasn't necessary for them to take the trouble, but the car coming to a stop distracted him. He looked out the window and he noticed they were in front of a beautiful house in the wealthy part of town.
"Here we are," exclaimed Kristoff, somewhat relieved the evening was coming to an end.
"Gosh, look at the time," said Anna when she realised she was over an hour late to dinner. "My father's going to kill me. All his business partners are probably in there by now."
Feeling guilty, Marshall tried to show his gratitude, "Thank you for breaking Hans nose, Anna." Even though things hadn't gone the way he had planned in his outraged state. He now realised everything Anna, Elsa and Kristoff had gone through to help him. "I owe you one."
"I'd hide my right knuckle if I were you," warned Kristoff. "It'll start bruising soon."
"I should have kicked him," said Anna with a sigh. She then stepped out of the car and disappeared inside her house.
"Okay, let’s go home," said Kristoff looking at his sister and their trouble-maker.
--
Not wanting to drive all the way back to the mountain late at night in a car that wasn't his own, Kristoff drove them to his own flat, where they made arrangements to have dinner and spend the night. Feeling guilty for the problems he had caused, Marshall insisted on leaving several times, but all his suggestions were turned down.
It was after eating dinner that Elsa suggested Marshall did something about his wounds. Even though he had stopped bleeding and he had washed his face, he hadn't really treated the cut or his black eye. For that reason, she excused herself and disappeared into the bathroom to see what she could find for Marshall to heal himself.
At the mention of his black eye, Marshmallow touched the swollen tissue around it and hissed, noticing it was indeed getting worse than he imagined. "I wish you hadn't held my arms," he said to Kristoff, once the pain subsided. He laughed, however, showing there were no hard feelings. "I could at least have protected myself."
Kristoff chucked and patted him on the back. "I didn't think Hans was going to hit you."
"Maybe it was for the best," Marshall admitted. "I was so mad I don't think I could have stopped myself if I had the chance to hit him."
"That's not concerning at all," laughed Kristoff, hoping it was a joke and nothing else. His arms still felt sore by holding him back earlier that night, and the mere idea of being in the receiving end of Marshall's fists sent shivers down his spine.
The sarcasm didn't escape Marshall who laughed out loud. "What would you have done in my situation?"
"To be honest, I don't know, buddy." It was true he didn't. He couldn't even imagine himself in his situation, but he guessed he'd be livid too. “It sucks you lost your job, but who knows, maybe it's for the best.”
Marshall raised one eyebrow, silently asking him to explain himself better.
Kristoff remembered his conversation with Elsa earlier that evening. And, even though he wasn’t sure Elsa was ready to keep her powers concealed so much, the idea of his sister finding a good colleague to start a business with was exciting. “Maybe something better is coming along. You never know.”
“Right,” said Marshall, not at all excited. “Going back to the city. I can't wait.”
His ironic tone was hard to ignore. “You don't like the city, I guess.”
“I can't stand it here.”
“I'm sure there are other options in the mountain,” Kristoff tried again.
“What else could I possibly do in the North mountain? As far as I know the resorts aren't hiring.” A frustrated sigh escaped his lips. “The most logical thing for me to do is return to the city and work as a paramedic once again.”
Kristoff was about to say he needed to keep looking, to give it a few weeks, when his sister showed up again. She was holding a bag of ice and some things from his first-aid kit.
“Here,” Elsa said, holding the bag for Marshall.
Thinking it was the best moment to leave the friends, and possibly future partners, to talk; Kristoff stood up from his place on the sofa and excused himself. “I'll head to bed if that's okay. You guys stay up as long as you want.” knowing full well Marshall would insist on leaving again, he said, “Elsa knows how to make the sofa into a bed. Don’t go anywhere. I need you to drive me so I can pick up my truck early in the morning.”
"Thanks, Kristoff." Elsa smiled at him and bid him good night. Once he left the room, Elsa sat down on the sofa next to Marshall.
"Where will you sleep if I stay?"
"There's an extra mattress under Kristoff's bed." She said matter-of-factly.
Nodding his head in understanding, he then relaxed on the sofa. It was best to agree with the sleeping arrangements. After all, he wasn't sure his mother would appreciate a sudden visit in the middle of the night. Especially when he had a black eye. Thinking back to his swollen eye made him aware he was still holding the bag of ice Elsa had gotten for him. "Thanks for the ice."
"What?" asked Elsa, suddenly startled.
"Thanks for getting me some ice…" He repeated, confused by Elsa's reaction, as he placed the bag over his eye.
"Oh, that. Yes." She chuckled, nervously. "Does it hurt?" she pointed to his eye, hoping to change the subject.
"Not so much."
"I found some gauze and ointment in the bathroom. I guess you can use it to patch yourself up." She handed him everything she had found and walked to the kitchen to get something to drink. When she returned, she was glad to see he had quickly bandaged the wound, making him look more presentable. She sat back down and offered him some water with a small smile.
Marshall looked at her for a while before accepting the glass she was kindly offering. The guilt he had felt earlier that evening returned full force at Elsa's sweet gesture. He had acted like a brute, a savage, in front of her. He had even yelled at her; and yet, there she was, trying to make sure he was okay. He wasn't sure what he had done to deserve a friend like Elsa, but he was determined to fix whatever he had possibly broken between them.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you today," he said when he found the courage to speak about it. "You were only trying to help me, to make me feel better…"
"I don't know what it's like to lose a job," she said, honestly. "I don't know what being accused of a crime feels like, either. I won't hold a grudge because you raised your voice while you were mad."
Shaking his head, he tried to make her see his mistake. "It doesn't matter. You were not to blame for my problems. I'm sorry."
Elsa looked at him and smiled again, but this time her smile soon disappeared and was replaced by some guilt. "I don't think you're a brute, by the way. I was only frustrated by your stubbornness."
He chuckled, knowing well how frustrating and irritating Elsa thought his stubbornness was. "I guess brute was a fitting description."
Elsa opened her mouth to complain, but he stopped her. There was no use for her to apologise for something he believed to be true. "Thanks for not turning your back on me. I'm not proud of who I become when I get mad, and the last thing I want is for you to be afraid of me… I don’t want you to think I'm a dangerous lout.”
Elsa smiled at him, wanting to show him that was not the case. “There are things we can't control — no matter how hard we try. I can't let it change the way I see you or-” She stopped herself mid sentence, opening her eyes in shock.
“Are you okay?” asked Marshmallow, concerned something bad had happened.
“I am…” For a fraction of a second she saw herself in Marshall’s shoes as she heard herself speaking. Her words made her think of all the times Gerda and Kristoff had said the same things to her, and it made her wonder, if she could understand and forgive Marshmallow for the things he couldn’t control, why couldn’t she do the same with her own faults? “I've just- I realised something, that's all.” She smiled and tried to pretend the realisation hadn’t shaken her to her core. Of course she understood there was a noteworthy difference between Marshall’s anger management and her own powers; but still, they both shared the same fear and self-doubt. It was strange to imagine there were other people suffering from those same insecurities, even if their past hadn’t been as scarring as hers.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” he insisted.
“Yes, I’m sorry. I just remembered something Kristoff told me long ago.”
“So, are we good?”
"We are good." Before Elsa could say anything else, Marshall wrapped his arms around her, startling her. And even if he had always liked displaying his affection with a hug here or there, she still couldn't get used to the feeling whenever he caught her by surprise. Her powers always tried to manifest abruptly, and she always had to concentrate for a few seconds to make sure there was no risk.
This time was no different, and it took Elsa a moment to pull herself together. "Marshall, you're crushing me," she said, patting his arm and begging to be released once she was sure her powers were under control.
He let go and scratched his beard as he mumbled an apology.
Elsa laughed and wrapped her arm in his. Happy to have soft Marshmallow back.
He, in return, rested the side of his head on top of hers, enjoying the closeness she so rarely displayed. "You keep me grounded," he confessed.
"Me?" asked Elsa, surprised by the idea of being someone else's anchor. It didn't make much sense in her opinion. Yet, here was Marshall, opening up and telling her she was needed. Telling her he was a little bit better when she was around, and the feeling was indescribable.
Marshmallow nodded but didn't explain himself. It was hard to explain what she meant to him without saying more than he was willing to admit. "I don't know what I'll do once I leave the mountain," he said instead, as soon the idea of living far away from Elsa came to his mind. "I've gotten used to spending time with you."
"You are leaving?"
"It’s the wisest thing to do if I want to get a job." He didn't like the idea, but there was little he could do without a job. "Working on my own at the mountain is off-limits. I won't compete with you."
The idea of Marshall leaving didn't set well with Elsa and so, ignoring her brother’s advice, she offered, "Work with me."
"What?"
"Stay and work with me."
"Elsa, are you sure?" Few things would've made him happier at that moment. But he couldn't let Elsa change her plans for him.
She still had no idea what to do about her powers and the slope, but she nodded with a smile. "I know the slope isn’t perfect and I’m aware half the equipment is in really bad shape. Also, there's no guarantee people are going to choose us over a fancy resort but-"
"Yes," Marshall said, answering before she could finish.
"-maybe we can find a way to make it work… What?"
"I said yes," he repeated with a grin. "We haven’t got anything to lose and we might make it work. What did you have in mind?"
"Fifty-fifty?" Elsa suggested. "Every penny we earn we divide it equally or we buy more equipment. You can help me with the business part and whatever you think we could improve. You’ve been working for a longer time than I have."
"Well… Now that you mention it," he said, tentatively. "There are a few things I thought could be improved while I was taking care of your slope during the winter."
"Do you remember what they were?"
"Yes. Have you got a pencil?" he asked, happy to know he could be of use.
Early the following day, Marshall and Kristoff drove back to Hans' block to pick up Kristoff's truck.
As he was stepping out of the car, Kristoff requested Marshmallow not to start a fight again now that they were so close to Hans' house. Marshall laughed and promised to behave, assuring him he had better things to do. After all, during the previous night, Elsa and him had talked and discussed everything they hoped for their shared business. And luckily, they had come to an agreement that worked excellent for them both. They knew it was going to take a lot of hard work and dedication, but they were determined to make it work.
Happy to know he had something positive to look forward to, he thought it was best to let Westergaard believe whatever he wanted. Maybe someday he could talk with his ex-boss and explain the situation. But right now, he understood it was useless.
He sat in the driver's seat of his SUV as he watched Kristoff get on his own truck and wave at him. He waved back and started his own vehicle, ready to get back to the mountain and start working and designing some kind of business plan. He turned around on his seat to make sure there weren't any cars behind him, when he noticed a brown leather bag between the seats.
What's this? He wondered. It wasn't his and he was sure it wasn't Kristoff's — the man had left the house barehanded.
It was only after looking inside, and realising it was full of books and school supplies, that he remembered Anna. She had been carrying it with her the previous night.
Not thinking twice about it, he drove straight to the fancy neighbourhood Kristoff had taken Anna the previous night. Trusting his visual memory, he drove for about fifteen minutes around the beautiful neighbourhood until he found a familiar house. He wasn't sure it was Anna's, but he guessed it wasn't a bad idea to ask.
--
"One hour late, Anna." The voice of Agdar resonated in the living room while Anna kept moving around the house.
"I know what you asked of me, and I’m sorry," she said, as she moved the sofa to look behind it. "I just had to- Where is it?!" It had been over half an hour since she began searching for her bag and she was running out of ideas where to find it. The last thing she remembered was running with her bag on her shoulder, and then everything was a blur. She remembered hitting Hans in the face and then Kristoff pushing her inside Marshmallow's SUV. After she got home, her mother requested her to take a bath immediately since all of Agdar's business partners had already arrived.
"You had to be here." Anna had already tried to explain to him the situation, omitting a few important details of course, but still Agdar kept insisting. "Those men are the people helping me keep the company afloat. I understand you may not be slightly interested in business. Regardless, one day you'll inherit the family business and they will be the ones to help you. That's why you had to be here." Noticing his daughter's distraction, he stopped himself to ask, "Are you even listening?"
"I said I’m sorry." Anna continued searching without looking at her father. "I had to help Marshall." Going back to her main concern she asked no-one in particular, "Where is my bag?! I'm sure I brought it with me last night."
"Who in God's name is Marshall?"
"He’s Elsa’s friend. He had a problem- it’s hard to explain." She wasn't sure how to explain everything that had happened the previous night without telling her father more than necessary. For that reason she didn't try to explain and returned to her task at hand. "For heaven's sake where is it?!"
"It doesn't matter where your bag is," said Agdar, who was little by little losing his patience. "I'm trying to have a conversation with you."
A knock on the door distracted father and daughter, but they didn't move. They both let Idunn take care of the door since she was in a better mood to entertain whoever was on the other side.
Idunn rolled her eyes at her family and stood up, walking straight to the front door. She took a deep breath before opening the door and hoped the person on the other side could help her distract for a few minutes until Anna and Agdar talked to one another or decided to move their conversation to a different room. Usually she enjoyed having her family around on Sunday mornings, but that morning in particular they both were running her patience thin with their useless quarrel.
To her surprise, the person standing outside the door was a tall man she didn't recognise. "Can I help you?"
Marshall, who was on the other side, stayed silent for a few seconds as he tried to understand what he was seeing. He had knocked on the door in hopes he could find Anna's house, but he didn't imagine the person opening the door would look exactly like Elsa. Or at least what he guessed Elsa would look like in her mid-forties.
When he finally connected the dots, he greeted the woman politely and, out of courtesy, asked if Anna lived there; even though he was sure she did. The woman standing in front of him was without doubt Elsa's mother. The main difference between the two was their hair colour. He guessed knowing Elsa was Anna's biological sister helped him connect the dots more easily, but he still believed the resemblance was uncanny.
"Yes… Who's looking for her?" asked Idunn with a nervous smile. She didn’t want to admit his black eye was unsettling her, but she wouldn’t call Anna unless she made sure the man was someone she could trust.
"My name is Marshall Hålkesen. I'm-"
"Marshmallow!" Anna’s call from inside the house cut him mid-sentence, and she soon showed up at the door by her mother’s side.
Before Marshall could greet Anna, or properly introduce himself to her mother; her father showed up at the door too, demanding Anna's attention.
"Anna, I need you to listen to me for a second." Looking at Marshall with an eyebrow held high, he asked, "Is this the man you tried to help last night?"
"Please tell me you've got my bag!" said Anna, ignoring her father and stepping outside the house. "I've been looking for it everywhere."
Marshall looked at Anna and then at her father for a second. The older man was clearly annoyed, and he feared it was his fault. Not knowing what was best to do, he opted for the easiest way out — handing Anna her bag and hoping the Arendelles didn't ask him any questions about his black eye or the previous night. "Here," he said, showing Anna the bag in his hand.
"You've got no idea how important this is to me!" She hugged the bag, as if she were afraid of losing it again.
"It's just a bag, isn’t it?" asked Marshall, not understanding the importance of such a simple object.
Anna turned around and, noticing her parents were still at the door listening to her conversation; she pushed the mountaineer a few metres away from them and explained, "Elsa wrote a letter to my mother. It's inside the bag."
"Oh."
"I was afraid I had left it on the street, in front of Hans' house. I wouldn't have forgiven myself if I lost it." She held the bag even closer to her chest. "Thank you so much."
"It was inside the car," his hand pointed to the old SUV parked not far away. "It's the least I could do after what you did for me last night."
Anna smiled at him. "You seem calmer today. Happier," she pointed out.
"Maybe getting fired isn't so bad. Who knows… maybe I should be thanking Hans the chance to start anew."
The small smile on his face didn't go unnoticed by Anna. "Okay. Now I'm lost," she said surprised by his sudden change. "What happened after I left?"
"Nothing," he answered quickly. "I'd better go, your father seems impatient…" He pointed with his head to the man who was still waiting by the door. Deep down he hoped Anna wouldn't keep pushing for an answer. Something told him she had noticed how fond he was of Elsa, and the last thing he needed was Anna making fun of him. Or worse, hinting things to Elsa.
"Fine. Go." She watched him walk towards his car, making him believe he was off the hook. It was only when he was about to get in that she said with a smirk, "I'll find out sooner or later."
He turned around, trying to keep a straight face; but even he had to admit Anna’s happiness was contagious. He laughed at her mischievous smile and pretended he didn’t care about her finding out the truth. “I hope the letter’s what you’ve been waiting for. I hope it’s a new start for you too.”
Anna beamed as she watched him go, and then walked back to the house where her father was still waiting for her.
“You've found your bag,” said Agdar as soon as she entered the house. “Now, can I have your attention?”
“Dad, I said ‘I'm sorry’ like a hundred times. What do you want from me?”
“I want you to start setting your priorities straight, Anna. You can't avoid your responsibilities to help whoever crosses your path.”
“Dad…”
“You can’t pause your life for everybody else. You’ve got things to do. You’ve got other priorities.”
“Shouldn’t it be the other way round?” she asked, tired of his insistence.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Shouldn’t you try to pause your life for once?” Anna loved her father, more than she usually let on, but his workaholic spirit drove her mad sometimes. “Shouldn’t you stop thinking about Grandfather’s company for just enough time to acknowledge there are people around you?”
“The company is my responsibility. The same way attending dinner last night was yours.”
“I know the company is your responsibility. It has always been.” She didn’t want to keep arguing with her father, but she needed him to understand she wasn’t like him. “Do you want to know what my top priority is?” she asked. She searched inside her bag until she found the book she was looking for.  “Here. That's my priority.” She pushed the book against her father’s chest for him to hold.
“An introduction to the physics of sports? Illustrated? ” Agdar asked, surprised to see his daughter was suddenly interested in sports — something she had never excelled at.
“Oh? No, wait. Give me that.” She grabbed the book from his hands and started flipping the pages. “Not the book. The letter inside of it. It's… Here!” She happily exclaimed as she handed him the letter. “She's my priority,” she said pointing to Elsa’s name on the envelope. “It shouldn't be since she was supposed to be yours, years ago; but I'm determined to set things right and help her anyway I can.” She gave her father some time for her words to sink in before she insisted, “I'm sorry I missed dinner. I'm sorry I embarrassed you in front of your business partners. But don't make me choose between my sister and the company, dad; because you know I'll always choose Elsa. She was second best against grandfather's business once. I won't let her be it for a second time.”
Agdar looked at the envelope in his hand for a few seconds and then at his daughter. Anna hadn’t raised her voice nor shown any sign of ill intent with her words. However, they cut deep inside of him, and so he tried to explain, “She wasn't second best. I didn't choose the company over her… You know it was more complicated than that.”
“I know,” said Anna, feeling a bit guilty for her hurtful words. “But sometimes I wonder what would have happened if you’d ignored grandfather's wishes…” She took a deep breath before she explained, “That letter is mum’s, by the way. She should be the one who reads it first.”
Idunn, who had entered the room at the mention of Elsa’s name during their argument, walked towards Anna and Agdar, and took the letter from her husband’s hand. “Is this what I think it is?” she asked, hopefully waiting for a yes.
Anna looked at her with a big grin. “She replied, mum.”
Wow, that was quite a ride, wasn't it? I'm so glad I separated this into two chapters. If not this would have been an impossibly long chapter haha.
As you can see, all this had a purpose and it was set to happen from the start. I may have included a few things here and there that weren't part of the original plan (mainly because I have fun writing an oblivious Elsa), but all in all, the story is going in the right direction. I needed a justifiable reason for Elsa and Marshall to start working together and here it is!
At the beginning of the story, I gave Elsa two main “problems” to solve. Her family and past was one of them, and her work and education another. To start wrapping this story up, I needed one of her problems to start solving, and since family drama is the main plot, I thought solving her work problem was a good idea - don’t worry, this doesn’t mean she’ll stop studying, Anna won’t let that happen. Besides, the poor girl was struggling too much on her own, she needed someone to give her a hand with work, don’t you think?
Anyway, thank you all for your amazing reviews. I can’t show through words how grateful I am for those of you who take the time to leave me your thoughts, feelings and analysis of everything I write. You guys help me continue, and more importantly, help me get back on track whenever I feel I’m drifting off the main plot. For all of you who had been patiently waiting for this story to develop, I guess I can finally say every sub-plot has more or less been tackled, that means it’s time to get into this family and finally wrap this thing up. There are still some chapters left, of course. On a bad note, I don’t have a SINGLE word written for the next chapter, so it’ll be impossible for me to upload as fast as I did this time. Bear with me, be patient, I will finish this. I usually try to update at least once a month, but I know sometimes I take a little bit longer, I’m sorry for those long hiatuses. Wish you guys the best. I hope you’re healthy and strong. And I’ll read you in the next chapter! Don’t forget to leave a small tip on the way out! Running a hand through your hair, you push open the door and step into the university library with Wonwoo’s boba in hand. You glance up from the ground and freeze when you see all the eyes on you as you stand in the entrance, the door loudly creaking behind you as it slowly closes.
this. this is humiliating.
You let out an apologetic smile towards those who are staring as you feel heat rush to your face in embarrassment, quickly walking away from the entrance as if it’ll decrease the number of eyes on you. You roam around the first floor, looking for that head of black hair at one of the tables as you gnaw on the inside of your cheek.
“Yn?”
“JES-” Wonwoo stares at you with wide eyes, book in hand while you clamp your hand over your own mouth. You’re 100% sure your heart is palpitating in your chest as you curse yourself silently for basically screaming in shock in the library.
“I’m sorry for scaring you.” Wonwoo whispers after you finally calm down, and you shake your head, giving him a reassuring smile. “It’s okay, I’m easily spooked.”
He grins at the sight of your smile, before his eyes trail down to the unopened boba in your hand. Your eyes follow his line of sight, and you immediately thrust out the boba in his direction, “This is for you.”
Wonwoo’s eyes widen slightly, before he lets out a chuckle, reaching out and taking the boba from your hand. Both of your breaths hitch when his fingers graze over yours, and you even almost drop the boba, but remain strong until it’s out of your grasp.
“Thank you for bringing it here, it means a lot to me.” Wonwoo tells you, and you shake your head, giving him a smile. “Of course! I saw that you were stressed, so I wanted to help out.”
Wonwoo bites the inside of his cheek, finding you more endearing the longer he speaks to you. He runs a hand through his hair, before motioning over in the direction where he’s been studying. You raise an eyebrow, and he grins, “Do you wanna sit with me? I was about to take a break from studying for my cs midterm.”
You bite the inside of your cheek, internally screeching at the fact that he asked you to sit with him. So you nod your head, and he lets out an almost relieved smile. The two of you walk over towards his table, and you sit down in the seat across from him, setting your bag down beside the chair.
“What are you stuck on?” You ask as you glance at the pages of the textbook, and Wonwoo lets out a tired sigh. He points towards the figure on the page, and you lean in closer to get a better look at it.
“This shit is boggling my mind. I was thinking of taking a break from trying to understand it, then look at it again tomorrow to have a fresh mindset on it.” You nod your head, squinting at the figure on the page, not knowing what it means. You glance up to tell Wonwoo that’s a good idea, only to freeze when you see that your faces are only a few inches away from each other.
His eyes search yours for a moment, and he wonders why your love alarm hasn’t rang when his heart is quite literally beating a million beats per minute as he stares into your bright eyes. You lean back into your seat, face warm at the fact that you and Wonwoo were that close to each other.
The two of you sit in silence, trying to comprehend what just occurred. With you trying to remind yourself that hundreds of people on campus have a crush on the pretty man, and Wonwoo debating on whether or not he should ask you the question that’s been on his mind for a while now.
he decides to ask you.
“Yn?” You glance up at the sound of his voice, just to find him looking a bit nervous. You tilt your head to the side, “Yeah?”
“D-do you,” Wonwoo pauses to internally curse himself for stuttering before continuing. “Do you have love alarm?”
You stare at him for a moment, trying to assess the possibilities for why he’s asking about the app. It ranges from him wanting to make fun of you and say no one would ever ring your love alarm, or he wants to ask how many times it’s rung. However, you fail to come up with an answer and instead shake your head ‘no’ at him.
Wonwoo’s mouth drops open a bit at your answer, a sense of both relief and fear flooding his senses. Relief to the fact that he actually would’ve been ringing your love alarm if you had it, and fear at the fact that he doesn’t know how to start a relationship without the app.
“I never downloaded it. I just, this is going to sound stupid.” You begin, and Wonwoo takes a sip of his boba nervously as he waits for you to continue. You let out a breath, “But I didn’t want to find love through an app.”
Wonwoo stares at you in silence, gauging your words as you look around the library. You rub the back of your neck nervously, before turning back towards the pretty man, and you give him a small smile.
“I know that it’s crazy, and a lot of people think it’s weird. I just don’t want to have to rely on an app, and I feel like I could see whether someone was being genuine if the app wasn’t involved in the making of the relationship. The app has really taken away the beauty of pining after one another, ya know?” You explain quietly, and Wonwoo bites the inside of his cheek. You rest your chin in the palm of your hand before continuing, “Like, what happened to simply asking will you go out with me? Or can we be happy together?”
Wonwoo tilts his head to the side in confusion, “I’ve never heard of that last one.”
You grin, nodding your head as you feel warmth flood your features at how embarrassed you feel about telling your crush how you’d like someone to ask you to be theirs. Looking down at your hands you say, “Oh, yeah. That one’s not common I think. I just… I’d like it if someone asked me to be their girlfriend that way, ya know?”
“So you want someone to try and pursue you like how it was before love alarm existed?” Wonwoo asks after a moment of silence, and you nod your head with a bashful smile on your face. You shrug your shoulders, “I know, it’s stupid to even think someone would do something like that for me, but I just-”
“It’s not stupid.” Wonwoo immediately interrupts, and you blink in surprise. He gives you a nervous grin, taking another sip of boba as he feels his heart thump against his chest. You shake your head after a second, glancing down at your hands. “It’s okay, I know it is. No one would try and pursue me now that love alarm is the main-”
“I would.”
The words die in your throat when Wonwoo cuts you off once again, and your eyes slowly trail up to his face to see if he’s joking. Your heart pounds violently against your chest when you see him staring at you with a serious expression on his face, and you begin to wonder if you were just mishearing things.
And so you ask, “What?”
Wonwoo bites the inside of his cheek nervously, glancing down at his hands that are fidgeting underneath the table. He lets out a small breath, before looking back up into your pretty eyes.
“I like you, yn.”
An entitled man tries to skip a 1.5h long queue and threatens me, I make sure he gets arrested.
Sorry for the post being so long (Tl;Dr at the end). Also English is not my first language, so sorry if I mix something up.
This happened to me a month ago.
A little backstory: This year I graduated high school and got accepted to a good uni in the capital. My girlfriend, my friend from middle school and I (we all study in the capital) moved into a small apartment that was property of friend's parents. One day me and Girlfriend decided to go to a shopping mall to get some kitchen stuff (a spatula, a grater, etc.) and buy ourselves city cards (basically a card that lets you use all of the city transit: buses, trams and subway). We chose a specific mall which had both a city transit office and a small IKEA.
When we arrived the queue to said office was massive (at least an hour of waiting) and so we decided that I'll wait in the line while Girlfriend does shopping. After half an hour, Girlfriend comes back and we still have to wait at least another 30 minutes. Fifteen minutes later and we are fourth in line. Then Entitled Man (an average 40-something balding male) comes onto the scene. He notices the queue, (I already knew we wasn't having it by the look on his face) and simply stands in front of Assertive Woman who is the first in the line. We had at least 1-meter long gaps between each other due to covid, and he just stands there like it's nothing.
The Assertive Woman calmly asks him to go to the end of line to which he replied, "I just have one thing I need to pick up, it won't take longer than 5 minutes." A small argument between the two continued for a while and it ended up with the lady gaining back her first spot in the line and Entitled Man occupying the second spot. Now, standing behind Entitled Man was Shy Man. He tried to get in front of Entitled Man but just couldn't do so. After Entitled Man started being aggressive, Shy Man backed out.
Seeing that Shy Man was not able to stand his ground, I decided to give him a helping hand. I came close to Entitled Man and started a conversation that went somewhere along these lines: "Excuse me Sir, there is a line here, please respect others and move to the end of the line." "No, It'll be three to five minutes and I'm gone, what do you not understand?" "Sir, do you not realise everyone in this line is waiting for a five minute service? I was standing here for forty minutes and I doubt it will take longer than five minutes for me as well." "I don't care, I've got shit to do." Then, he faces away from me, so I come right in front of his face. "So, you just come here not giving a fuck, waiting for an opportunity to skip the fucking line?" "Yes. Fuck off." He faces away from me once again. At this point I knew conversation was going nowhere so I just stood in front of him, being the 1st in the line now.
"So now you are skipping too you little shit?" I didn't reply and just waited for Assertive Woman to finish her business. When she finishes me and Entitled Man literally race to the counter. I won and said to the lady behind the counter, "Excuse me, this man is skipping the line and is generally disrespectful to others. Could you please not service him?" The worker nods and asks who is next in the line, to which I point at Shy Man. Then I came back to my spot in line where Girlfriend was standing. Entitled Man tried his luck skipping the line once more. Thankfully, the worker knew what was the right thing to do and ignored Entitled Man like he wasn't even there.
Entitled Man realised his defeat, looked at me and said, "See you outside you little shit", and gave me a middle finger. I won, it felt so good sending that guy home with nothing, but after a little while I realised he might be serious with the "see you outside". I actually felt scared for a second, as a 177cm, 75kg guy (5"10' , 165lbs for fellow Americans). I'm not much of a fighter to say the least.
Looking for a way to protect myself and my girlfriend, I went and bought a little pepper spray (legal to carry it without any permission where I live) as well as notified a guard that a man had told me he will be waiting for me outside, possibly to hurt me. I made my way to the exit with the guard following me, unlocked the pepper spray in my pocket. If Entitled Man really wanted to settle this, I was ready. I exited the building, the guard stayed inside but was watching me through the glass doors. Lo and behold, Entitled Man is standing around the corner, with his cap on, approaching me.
I was so frightened that I couldn't think straight. With my right hand already grasping the pepper spray I took it out and sprayed him. Entitled Man started screaming in pain and tried to retreat. I yelled at Girlfriend to stay away and then proceeded to spray some more for good measure, but this time I was spraying his hoodie so it didn't do much. Next thing I notice, the guard is tackling Entitled Man to the ground and calling for support over his walkie talkie. He also ordered me stay where I was.
After what felt like an eternity, three other guards come out of the mall. Two of them help strangle Entitled Man, who was refusing to forfeit, and one of them asks me to come with him. We were taken to the guards' office, police was called. By that point Entitled Man had surrendered; he was sitting restrained in cuffs. The police arrived extremely quickly - less than five minutes - and questioned the guards, examining both my and Entitled Man's ID cards. They went on to review surveillance footage, came back and told me they would no longer need my assistance. One officer also warned me that if I'm threatened again I should call the police in the first place and that I'm not exactly allowed to pepper spray people who haven't even touched me. I agreed, thanked them, and left the room. I then called my girlfriend because she was nowhere to be seen. It turns out she went to the toilet. As I was waiting for her, Entitled Man comes out of the guards room, handcuffed, with two police officers grasping each of his arms and leading him outside. Oh man, did that sight put a smile on my face.
I then went on with my day.
Tl;Dr : A guy tries to skip a 1.5h long queue in the mall, I don't let him, he threatens to hurt me when I come outside but I come outside ready for him, with pepper spray and a guard by my side. I Pepper spray his ass when he approaches me, police comes and arrests him afterwards.
