Some of the Justice Society had actual birthdates, which I think makes things interesting. Jay Garrick was born in 1918, Bruce Wayne was born in 1915, Rex Tyler was born in 1913, Johnny Thunder was born in 1917 and Jim Corrigan was apparently born in 1900. Now I just wish we had birthdates for other characters. I headcanon that Al Pratt was born in 1921 (and that Terry Sloane was born the same year), but I struggle with some of the others.
I wish there was more definitive birth dates for characters like Alan Scott, Charles Mcnider, Ted Knight, Ma Hunkel, etc. If you want me to believe in Infinity Inc, it'd go a long way for me to have birthdates for these characters, so I know when they became heroes, when they had kids, when their kids reached maturity, etc. It's the one form of math I understand: calculating age. From a year, I can get all the possible ages. It's a bit dark when I apply the math to people in real life, but it's a boring sort of fun when applied to characters in comics.

I don't know why others ask on Anon, but I know I've asked on Anon before because I feel shy about bothering you and/or what if my question is silly or stupid?
I wanna show you something. There's a certain exhibit in our museum, the Doctor Midnite exhibit that has a certain sidebar that always draws people's eyes. Right beside the mount of McNider's costume, the photos of his public appearances, the writing about his life and accomplishments. Is this.

(A mounted cast of a Barred Owl/American Wood Owl, Strix varia)
To be clear, this is not a taxidermy of a real owl. It's a sculpted replica of a real owl. That owl's name was Hooty and he was the longtime friend and companion of Charles McNider, the original Doctor Midnite. Hooty crashed through McNider's window during the nadir of his grappling with his sabotage induced blindness. Not only did this accident unveil for McNider that he was able to see in total darkness but it also gave him something to DO. He nursed Hooty back to health over the course of weeks and during that time was energized enough to consider going after the gangster who had blinded him thus giving birth to Doctor Midnite. This owl saw the world, always at the side of his friend and master. He soared the skies with Hawkman, sunk his claws into nazi soldiers, punched THROUGH THE CHEST of a fascist superhuman while high out of his mind on Miraclo making him possibly the only nonhuman animal to to take the drug and live. Live, in fact, he did. Hooty the First died at the age of 31, an IMPOSSIBLE age for a bird of his species. And he wasn't the last, his descendants have stuck by the men and women who call themselves Doctor Midnite. The current female and male Doctor Midnite both possessing owls who are Hooty's direct decedents named Hooty the 4th and Charlie. The original Hooty is not on display because his body was buried alongside McNider after the man himself passed away. If any animal could be said to be a companion and partner to ANYONE it was that bird to that man. Why is this relevant, well let me rephrase. I have to, everyday, walk past a reverently staged statue of an owl who has been dead for more than half a century. Explain to dozens of people on a daily basis why this owl is not only important but historically significant AND I have to keep myself from getting teary eyed while doing it. There is a man out there, respected the world over who laid down his life in the line of duty and the most important point in his will is that he wanted to be buried with an OWL. This owl shot through the chest of a floating man because it was high as BALLS and then just went on living after doing that. This owl's great grandchildren are currently continuing to fight crime in his name making this a DYNASTY OF CRIME FIGHTING OWLS. This point of study is ridiculous, and silly, and stupid. Because history, and especially PEOPLE in history are silly, and ridiculous and stupid. The original flash screwed wings onto a tin hat and then went out in regular ass blue jeans. The original Green Lantern wears a collar so high that he cannot see when he turns his head. One of the most feared men on the planet dresses up in latex bat cosplay complete with little ears on either side of his head. And that's just the stuff that's straightforward! I don't delete asks given to me in good faith for 2 main reasons: 1. Spreading knowledge is 100% of the reason my job exists and if I didn't do it I would be very bad at it. 2. The dumber a question SOUNDS the more ridiculous the answer is going to be and that is an AMAZING thing to know when I get up in the morning. So, to iterate my personal philosophy for all to hear: The only stupid question is the one you DIDN'T ask.
