Sometimes I think about the fact that we have absolutely no information on how long Aventurine actually spent in slavery.

He fled from the Avgin massacre as a young child, and we didn't see him again until he was a grown adult. I doubt he could have survived entirely on his own at that age and Sigonia's conditions seem too harsh for people to randomly adopt orphans, especially from a rival/outcast clan...

We do know that the master we see on screen was not his only master, because he was purchased from someone else, but we have no idea how many masters he had total before his final one, how many times he could have fled and been recaptured, how many times he was bought and sold...

We do know that Aventurine appears to have been kept on Sigonia or somewhere similarly tribal for those missing years, since his first request to the IPC is for Jade to take him to her "chief," but we don't even know how long Aventurine has been out of slavery. He doesn't look massively different in age from his "trial" with Jade to how he looks in-game now, and he did not rise through the IPC ranks over time like Topaz but won his role directly through his gamble with Jade and then later proving himself on Iymanika.

Basically, all this is leading to a big question: Is it possible that the Aventurine we know is only barely out of slavery? That there may be something like five years or fewer separating him from the wastelands of Sigonia? That he learned all these new behaviors, all this new information about how to operate as a free person in the universe, in what likely amounts to 2-3 years of Jade's guidance and his own hard work?

Man, what an incredible character. Really a standout among my very favorites.

Danny and Ellie were captured by the GIW. Held and experimented on for an extended period of time. Both having been branded by the GIW.

In case they ever escaped. In both forms it’s always visible unless covered up.

It was only recently they started doing the more invasive experiments. Let’s say they vivisect Danny and have plans to do the same to Ellie.

Before they can even touch Ellie somehow through the power of family love or something he breaks the suppression device on him.

Which leads to him being able to grab her. Managing to make a portal he didn’t know he could do.

Whether it the same universe or a separate universe. The portal dumps them right in a middle of a justice league meeting. Danny bleeding and passed out from power use. Then Ellie who is frantic an panicky on full defense.

So now the justice league had to calm down Ellie and help Danny as well as figure out what on the world is happening.

At a certain point blaming the school system for failing to teach you every fact becomes an excuse to absolve yourself from learning on your own time as an adult. Maybe you had bad teachers and curricula, maybe you never did the assigned reading, maybe you were taught propaganda, but it’s okay to start now. It’s okay to learn geography from online games. Your eyes adapt to the darkness interrupted by the flashing of the lights in a distant room as you get your stamp, the worker asking you questions about your night you give half-assed answers to.

Two: You will stick with your friends, do what they want to do, and end the night at their side.

Boys move past you as you walk through them, giving them enough time to part of their own volition – and they all do, for the price of a smile and a tempting look.

Three: You will not corrupt.

You reach your friends and they lead you to the table in the back, where drugs are scattered amongst the drinks. You take a pill, knowing whatever it is, it’s bound to be good – and you feel the buzz in your system, the colours intensifying, and the feeling of detachment from the floor pouring over you.

Already, you are looking out. The crowd is full tonight and the room reeks of sweat, spilled drinks, of the needs and the wants and people who are looking for someone to spend the night with, to bury their sorrows or sins in. You lick the rim of the drink you’d taken off the table, saltyiness sending shivers down your spine.

Lights flash, then slow down, illuminating each corner of the room. The room tenses—the beat is about to drop—and the spirit of the night reveals itself as your sight lands on a pretty boy with a recognisable face, and phones pointed in his direction.
