I imagine both drifter and bobby are somewhat desensitized of death. Bobby more so cares less of corpses and sees them more as things to loot, while drifter is somewhat numb to the ticking timer he's in (he makes off handed jokes about himself that sounds slightly concerning). Drifter still respects the dead and what theyve left behind, thinking that borrowing their weapons as some sort of relief for the dead (Quirrel's words ;u;). "Borrowing", because he knows well it will be used by others when these things outlives him, and hes ok with it. (He also believes that a tool that still serves its functions has no reason to go unused)

Bobby is a loud and proud jerk, and drifter rattled that concept simply by just being himself, unexpectant on how it would affect bobby. While he had been familiar of death, he never properly grasped the concept of losing someone he truly loved.

And he doesnt know how to deal with it.

not tagging the post because i'm not actually trying to start drama but...i find it Interesting that fans who saw the disappointment over s2 casting choices IMMEDIATELY turned to "well don't harass the [white] actors!" a) no one was calling for that, in my case i explicitly mentioned the casting directors and the neilman, b) where was this energy when Vanesu Samunyai got harassed? it's telling that the example is a white-passing man whose fans dug up his background as a gotcha for, again, nonwhite fans expressing frustration with how white (and yes, white-passing) characters are privileged over Black characters. i don't think the fandom OR netflix gets to pat themselves on the back because they cast nonwhite actors in ANY roles. i don't think the fandom should police how nonwhite fans feel or their expressions of frustration in public spaces. i don't actually think sandman is "so diverse"! i think it could be more diverse, and telling me and other nonwhite people to just settle for whatever we get is...well.

unfortunately i did workshop this with the army gc and i think i have a proposal. it doesn't totally work because of gender dynamics and the way the universes of corporate-competitive art performance and riverdale aren't really quite aligned, but i think i got somewhere.

I think a big thing that keeps muddling the family trees is that they keep giving legacy characters new litters! Like when I think cloudtail/brightheart kits I think whitewing, not their later ones who I keep forgetting are even theirs! Not saying every pairing should only have one litter, bit it'd be a big help if they didn't have them YEARS apart, I think a lot of mess could be avoided

oh absolutely. i think it's cute to give older couples new litters (like i'd have been cool with another sandfire litter) but also... what's the point if they're only background fodder? sure, lilyheart has more to do, but why make her another brackensorrel kit at all if she's not gonna be relevant to her older sisters at all? why not utilize the new cast more and make her a po3 character's daughter?

I think that's also what makes these so frustrating- these couples have new litters, and then the other siblings just don't interact with them much? for some reason? why did lioncinder have another litter when their first litter got nothing to do in AVOS? why are we suddenly running to give them more babies rather than fleshing out hollytuft or sorrelstripe?

everyone shat on ferncloud and her three separate litters...... how i yearn for those days, where ferncloud's litters at least felt relevant and like a full family (also side tangent, hmmmmm wonder why no one got on DUSTPELT'S ass for this..... only ferncloud's.... he made those babies too like cmon now)

I've only read a few fics where this happened but they focused more on say shipping.
