i think its interesting that throughout all of ep 6 we can see stede and ed like sharing a connection but they are taking it slow. they are just having small moments together where they are together and enjoying each others company.

then of course Ned Low shows up and ruins everything by capturing and torturing the crew and he says many things to rile up both stede and ed who still havent like fully reformed their relationship and trust for eachother and it probably alights all their insecurities about their relationship plus they had to watch each other get tortured and almost die and after he chooses to kill ned stede is obviously shaken up both from killing a man and all of the shit he just went through and hes vulnerable and scared and lightly traumatized probably and ed goes to check on him and stede is just is a horrible headspace and he falls back on his old ways and acts on a whim by grabbing ed and pushing him up against the wall

and ed didnt have any better of a night than stede did, getting tortured and watching your lover get tortured fucking sucks and hes just as in a horrible headspace as stede and so he also acts on a whim and lets stede escalate and they kiss and then they have sex

and everything seems great between them the next morning but suddenly ed is throwing away his leathers—okay pretty sudden but maybe he was already planning to—and then ed is sharing how stede was kinda the one who saved his life when he almost died—okay kinda intense conversation over breakfast but maybe he was already planning on telling him and decided it was a good opportunity—and then later stede shares how he wrote ed letters expressing his love and threw them into the sea—and okay maybe they just felt like really sharing this morning—and then later at jackies ed is telling jackie about how it might not be a phase that he just wants to be a regular guy—and wow okay thats cool maybe hes just been thinking about it for a while—and then stede lights a man on fire who wants to kill him—and woah stede um kinda harsh you didnt even hear the man out—and then stede and ed meet up and stede got his ear pierced—thats cool unplanned but cool—and then ed tells stede that he took a job as a fisherman and is leaving—

and then suddenly you realize theyve fallen back into their old patterns of acting on whims again

suddenly they aren't taking things slow, suddenly they are sharing intimate things with each other with 0 apprehension

they are right back where they were in season 1 right down to ed wanting to get away from pirating like his life depends on it and stede wanting nothing more but to be a pirate and live out his fantasy

and this time they fight and ed outright says that things are going too fast and part of it is that he just wants to leave and he is scared but he feels like this because yeah

they are taking it too fast

they suddenly—on a whim—decided to deepen their relationship way faster than they should have entirely on accident just by—on a whim—deciding to have sex when they were both in a vulnerable state and needed comfort

i really dont think it was an accident that episode 4 decided to spell out for us that Ed and Stede are whim prone people. it wasnt just an explanation for why last season ended the way it did with them splitting up. it was an omen for what was eventually going to happen with them in these episodes. the inevitability that they were eventually going to succumb to their true natures if not given the proper space and time to work out the shit between them, if insecurities and expectations got piled onto them again.

TBHX episode 7 rant

And 7 episodes in, I am finally going to start criticisms because...there's things to be criticized now (and I am also a wreck for a multitude of reasons). My brain resembles the three seats of the title rn: empty.

But we unpack.

Before we get into the heavier stuff, a brief but fervent moment of appreciation for both the OST and the animation in this ep because hot dang that fight soundtrack was off the charts and I liked this animation switch even better than when Wreck did it. Also, was that the X snap again?

Like I'm sorry but this transition? Gorgeous.

For ONCE (twice) this series, I once again must applaud the ditching of the shock value cliffhanger, but I'm still so very dissatisfied with the climax this episode and this arc. Is it just me or does the Uncle Rock angle not make much sense?

There are certain things that do. The voice over the phone ordering the fake kidnapping matches. Obviously he knew who to use as lackeys, and there's a good commentary here on how people are used as pawns as means to an end in bigger plots.

But when was that damn shop open? I was under the impression it's been a while because Yang Cheng has been performing in the theater at least 3 years, Uncle Rock seemed familiar (he even knew about YC's crushes) and you're seriously telling me a CEO had nothing else to do but sit around making tea for at least 3 years??? (I mean, valid, for me, but not this guy). And we only see him being even remotely suspicious this ep, when he's suddenly displaying advertising prowess (routing it through FOMO, we see you), finances beyond his means, and an obsessive interest for YC to win. All this ep.

AND WHY IS YANG CHENG NOT REACTING?? You just...accepted the fact that your local tea shop owner is a CEO who just set you up to be a MURDERER?? Where is the surprise, the questions, the sheer disbelief, the how-did-this-happen and why-did-you-do-this?

On that note, this society is fucked up. You just watched someone idolize a hero, become that hero, challenge that hero, and kill that hero, and your trust value stands? Excuse you???

Shang Chao did end up being CEO Shang's son. Great for Uncle Rock, I suppose, since he eliminated a rival CEO's son with aspirations to start his own agency. But since he told his lackey to "get rid of the fake," I wonder what he was trying to accomplish there initially.

Shang being martyred was lowkey unexpected but made sense. Yang Cheng losing all his morals and righteousness out of guilt also makes sense when you take in his hesitancy last ep. I was finding it weird that he couldn't cross that short distance but it makes sense now. But really bro? You were thinking about him asking your crush out while he had a gun levelled at his head? Neat.

His unarguably stupid decisions henceforth could also be attributed to that I suppose because I spent a large amount of the episode thinking why is OG E-Soul the enemy? What did he do? And this brings me to one of my other biggest gripes of the series so far.

We've finished two arcs, and we know next to nothing about two of the heroes. We know plenty about their newer counterparts/replacements, but OG E-Soul and OG Nice? Next to nothing. And I really really want to know something. They were both so tired, they were both so done. It was felt far more with OG E-Soul because well, we had more than 7 seconds where he was alive, but the point stands. 34 years of a hero, and we know nothing about him. And now he's dead(?; still pinning my delusional narrative hopes on X).

I really hope this will be rectified because maybe the series is about the younger crop of heroes, but at the very least I'd like to know what these OG heroes went through to make them so sick of this.

Some stupid corner of my brain is also now wondering if Zero (rumoured to be one of the most dangerous villains) is X. Heroes' nemeses are consistently shown to be the only people to really know the hero, and maybe Zero saw the injustice done to their nemesis of three decades and decided to change the system from the top by masquerading as a hero, becoming X, and changing things.

Speaking of ending arcs, I also expected Lucky Cyan to tie in a bit more than just oh-my-concert-is-happening-at-the-same-time-as-the-fight, which also seems like a crucial detail they could've mentioned before? Wouldn't it be siginificant for YC to mention that he plans to go with Xia Qing to the concert while missing the anniversary event? Idk.

But I did find the show-vs-tell of this particular panel intriguing.

The biggest highlight for me this episode was the fight between the E-Souls. The juxtaposition between youth and experience really shone here, OG E-Soul didn't even have to move most of the time, he didn't really even want to fight but trust value is everything and his hand was forced (why was it everything to him? What kept him going? Man seriously looked like he wanted to retire and yet...) and there was so much to unpack in the sequences. With the soundtrack and the animation, it was very reminiscent of Zuko and Azula's last Agni Kai for me.

Like come on, I can't be the only one who sees this. Man was using lightning ffs.

The implication that trust value can only exist in one concept and if multiple exists, they're split is also something to ponder. So YC's initial trust value wasn't new per se, it was just redirected from OG E-Soul to the new E-Soul. This also means YC as a person still likely has 0 trust value; right now he's living off the trust value of the person he just murdered (have I mentioned this is fucked up????)

No doubt Rock will hold this over Yang Cheng's head, huzzah.

OG E-Soul seemed to know he was being set up, and this just made me even more sad. He knew what was happening, he knew the discussions were being directed. But what can he do about it? Heroes really have no autonomy in this world.

Lastly, the next highlight: I mentioned in ep 4 that I hope to see more of Enlighter moving forward and I'm so happy to see he wasn't just a one-time villain shtick. I'm hoping his story carries on through the other hero arcs and we find out more about why he went the way he did.

Overall, Rock came out of pocket and I'm superbly dissatisfied how this was met with zero reaction from Yang Cheng. Dampened the entire arc for me.

Absolutely no idea what to expect in Lucky Cyan's arc now, but if you have another hero replacement I am going to lose it.

So the symbolism with clothes is INSANE in OFMD.

By Season 2 Episode 6, they're both becoming what the other was. Ed no longer wants to be a pirate because it brought out the brutal, cold blooded part in him that he's been bored of long before he met Stede. But which was a necessity for him to survive, to protect his mother from his father.

Then he met Stede, who was a gentleman, doing and being something Ed has always wanted to be, which is softness. Like the soft, fine fabrics Ed likes, but never really allowed himself to have, only carried the piece of red silk his mother has given him when he was a boy.

Ed only let go of that red silk when him and Stede were apart, because Ed gave up on his newly discovered soft side. He became the Kraken, all hard edges and black leather.

Also, before he let go of the softness with the red silk, he wore Stede's fuchsia robe, which represented the colour entering Stede's life, and by Ed wearing it, he wore Stede's essence, what comforted him as he missed Stede very much. He missed the colour from his life.

Fast forward, in Season 2 after Stede had his first kill, after Ned literally said that if he does it, Stede will become a Real Pirate, Stede looks for comfort with Ed by making love to him. Stede as a pirate who was always scared of the brutality and coldness of masculinity that his father represented to him, I believe.

Yet being a pirate, an infamous one at that, as Stede finds himself suddenly to be, is what he had dreamed about. Which must be conflicting as heck, too. Being something you yearned for, and being accepted for it, which you're not used to, but then that very thing you wanted is also uncomfortable because of the inherent brutality it carries with itself. Anyway, when Episode 7 starts, Ed throws his leathers into the sea. His things that represent Blackbeard. He gets rid of it after he became intimate with Stede, having taken off Blackbeard, (=his leathers) LITERALLY. This time he's wearing Stede's robe but it's the same dark blue colour as Stede's new "pirate shirt".

Blue is obviously one of Stede's favourite colours, which would symbolise his love for the sea— and Ed wears that. He wears Stede on himself on that Morning After. Ed is trying to find what he can become after he gives up his Blackbeard identity, and what he knows is that he likes fishing and most importantly, loves Stede. He finds comfort in Stede, like Stede does in Ed.

One more interesting thing, since I'm diving into the topic of symbolism with clothes is the fact that there was a huge emphasis on the scene in which Buttons turned into a seagull.

Buttons said: "The sea is my love. To love the sea as she must be loved, requires change."

And Ed: "Buttons, people don't change, not into birds or otherwise." (Just when Ed and Stede's theme starts to play very softly)

But Buttons changes, and Ed is AMAZED by it, and then goes on his own journey to change his ways. So that he can love Stede in a healthy way.

Buttons leaves his clothes behind, and in Episode 7, Ed wears them as he's trying to figure out who he wants to be instead of Blackbeard and instead of a pirate. For me, him wearing Buttons' clothes then means that Edward is finally truly (docked too) ready for change.

But it also means that Buttons is a character who's LITERALLY IN LOVE WITH THE SEA. And in the beginning of Season 2, Stede wore Buttons' cravat. And then Ed wears the rest of Buttons' clothes. Showing that Ed and Stede love the sea.

As of right now, by Episode 7, what they need now, Ed and Stede, is to find a middle ground where both can be who they truly are and continue to balance each other out that way. For Ed to find peace, softness and comfort, (and a fucking INN, give that man what he wants, for whoever's sake—) and for Stede to be who he aspired to be, a pirate, but to also regain his gentleness, because that's a core part of him. That's why Ed loves him.

So I’ve rewatched episode 5 of Hazbin Hotel like 10 times now, and I REALLY want to talk about Alastor in this episode since it seemed like it was an Alastor-focused episode disguised as a Charlie one.

First thing, the most popular theory is that Alastor is under contract with Lilith. Which I fully agree with. I also saw this one post about how Alastor might be under contract with someone else, but struck a deal with Lilith that she’d be able to set him free if he did some things for Lilith. Which I kinda hope is true instead because I like the complexity of that a lot more (especially since the only two people who could possibly put Alastor under contract is Lilith and Eve, and I’d love to see them both in this story). But either way, Alastor is 100% at the Hazbin Hotel under Lilith's orders.

And it was REALLY weird to see Alastor suddenly care about the hotel and about Charlie. Because he’s NEVER acted like that before, and it seemed like he was just doing it to piss Lucifer off. But why? Lucifer had no idea who Alastor was. Any beef that they had before that musical number was so one-sided it’s laughable. So here’s my theory: Alastor needs to be deemed as useful to Charlie in order to get whatever he wants from him and Lilith’s deal. And Lucifer, as the only one there that is stronger than him, was an active threat to his usefulness.

Alastor’s job in the hotel is to take care of it. He makes sure the place doesn’t fall into disrepair, and he does anything that Charlie asks him to in order to maintain it. And he ONLY does this because Charlie asks him to. You get a few hints that Alastor is only pretending to care in his conversation with Mimzy:

��You deliberately brought danger to this place. I can’t have that here.”

Look at his face when he says he “can’t have that here”. He’s kicking Mimzy out because he HAS to, not because he wants to. He’s clearly upset he has to say it in the first place, and Mimzy says later that Alastor loves taking care of her. Considering the way they interact and the way Alastor brushes off Husker’s concerns about Mimzy causing trouble, it seems like he actually does. Him and Mimzy are close, and he’s powerful, so cleaning up her messes is just a minor inconvenience for him that’s typically worth it. But here? Alastor can’t afford danger to come here. Because he has a job at the hotel, and he needs to stay on Charlie’s good side. He HAS to be useful to her, not a menace. And that means pushing away the friends he cares about.

Husk is also very well aware of this. That’s why he warned Alastor in the first place. Considering the things Husk said in this scene, wherever Alastor has been for the last 7 years, he took Husk with him. First because Husk knows that Alastor is also “on a leash”, but also just because of the way he said another thing in this scene:

“I mean, you’ve been gone a while. And it’s not like anybody knows why.”

To me, this sounds like Husk does know. Especially since it seems like Alastor uses Husk the most out of all the souls he controls, since Husk is so useful as an ex-overlord. Which is why he tries to warn Alastor about Mimzy. He knows the detail of whatever deal Alastor has, and he knows Mimzy could mess everything up. If she was just an annoyance, I doubt Husk would go out of his way to tell the boss he clearly hates to get rid of her. But if Alastor fails, then Husk is probably at risk too, as a soul under his control. So it’s in Husk’s best interest to keep Alastor afloat as much as he can (especially since Alastor is clearly not as nice to his souls as people may hope, since he left Husk shaking with just a threat. So if Alastor gets into trouble, I wouldn’t be surprised if Husk might face a consequence for “not warning him”).

So, Alastor has to be useful to Charlie. Whatever he does, he has to do his best to stay on her good side. His whole soul is probably dependent on Charlie eventually giving a report to Lilith about how helpful Alastor was. But also, Lilith probably hates Lucifer. I’ve never heard of a divorced couple that doesn’t completely hate each other, and considering Lilith literally took Charlie away from her dad, Lilith probably doesn’t want Lucifer in the picture for whatever reason. So, if Alastor NEEDS to be on Charlie’s good side with this hotel, but then it gets back to Lilith that LUCIFER of all people came back and helped more than Alastor did? He’d be fucked. Say goodbye to whatever hope Alastor had for this deal, because his soul’s getting destroyed and permanently erased with those odds.

And we know Alastor doesn’t do well with people hurting his pride. Considering his face when Carmilla insulted him, Alastor wants to be all powerful and feared by everyone. So if Lucifer came into the hotel and started doing BETTER than him in his one-day stay than Alastor had in five months? Alastor CAN’T have that.

He knows this the second he sees Lucifer. Maybe Lilith warned Alastor about him, or he knows immediately that Lucifer is a threat to his image. Either way, Alastor is immediately in defense mode. And he starts IMMEDIATELY trying to get onto Charlie’s side. Because he NEEDS Charlie to think he’s better than Lucifer, and he needs Lucifer out of there ASAP.

And thus, hence the most confusing moments in this whole episode:

He immediately starts complimenting Charlie, reminding her of how much he’s done for her. Saying he’s proud to fulfill her “bizarre requests” (while also sneakily insulting her in a way that she won’t notice).

And Charlie is desperate for someone’s approval on this project she cares so much about, so she takes the bait. She also probably has developed a soft spot for Alastor after all this time, so she’s happy she’s finally getting her love returned.

The only upper hand that Lucifer has over Charlie’s good word is the fact that he’s her dad, and Charlie is ALSO desperate to have her father back. So what’s the quickest way to not only piss Lucifer off, but remind Charlie of how much he’s done for her and keep himself on her good side?

Well first, reminding her of his constant loyalty:

“Who has been here since day one? Who’s been faithful as a nun?”

Second, saying they’re “like family” and has been more of a dad to her in these five months than Lucifer has ever been:

“You’re like the child that I wish that I had. I care for you just like a daughter I spawned.”

And third, implying that he’s more useful to her than Lucifer could ever be because he’s “the easier help”:

“It’s smart to choose the path of least resistance.”

There’s multiple other moments in this song alone where Alastor tries to up himself over Lucifer, typically by using the “found family” argument to say him and Charlie are closer and that Lucifer “is a dud”. Alastor’s been around long enough to know how to manipulate Charlie’s feelings, and he’s using that to his full advantage to make sure Lucifer doesn’t get in his way with an ally he desperately needs.

It’s all pure manipulation. Alastor may have a soft side that we see with Mimzy, but the Hazbin Hotel is just a means to an end for him. And once Lucifer and Charlie make up, we don’t really see Alastor again. Which makes me wonder how he was feeling after Lucifer was able to get Charlie a meeting with Heaven, something Alastor would never be able to do.

I honestly can’t wait to see how Alastor acts in later episodes. With the extermination coming up, and the reveal of him being under another contract, I feel like we’re going to get more snippets of Alastor’s true motivations, mixed with how Alastor acts towards the souls that HE’S in charge of. Reminding us once again that Alastor may have been human, but he’s still one fucked up dude who has well earned his place in Hell.

This is gonna be a wild next two episodes.

New Life In The City - Struck By Love Legacy Challenge - Episode 7

Maeve took the kids to Central Park in San Myshuno, near their new apartment. Maeve explained why they were moving to the best of her ability.

Maeve: I heard your new school has an ice cream bar that your classes get to go to once a week! That's exciting!

Naomi: Yeah, that's cool mom.

Kaito: What if I don't make any friends in my class? I won't know anyone at this new school.

Maeve: Oh, sweet pea, you'll make lots of friends. Who wouldn't want to be friends with a sweet boy like you?

Naomi: Yeah, so sweet you have cooties!

Kaito lightly pushes Naomi: Hey! I don't have cooties!

Naomi: Sure, sure!! That's what people who have cooties say!

Maeve chuckles quietly: I heard that cooties are super easy to get rid of! All you have to do is brush your teeth twice a day!

Naomi: Oh silly mom, that's not how you get cooties! The kids at my last school said you have to swing the highest you can go and jump off and land on your feet! If you don't land on your feet, you still have cooties!

Maeve: If you say so, hun.

The kids run off and play while Maeve cleans up their lunch.

A little while later, Maeve and Kaito playing Chess while Naomi plays in the fountain!

Kaito: Are you happy mama?

Maeve holding a fake smile: Of course, little duck, I'm happy to be you and Naomi's mama.

Kaito: Don't forget about Salem and Lily Pad!

Maeve: Yes, yes how could I forget our little kitties!

Kaito: When is daddy moving here with us?

Maeve: Remember how I said that we got a divorce? That means that daddy will stay at his house in Copperdale and mama stays at the apartment in the city.

Kaito: So, you stay here and daddy stays there? When do we see daddy again? I miss him.

Maeve: I'll ask daddy when he's available, okay? And maybe we can call him later if he isn't busy.

Kaito: Okay mama!

A couple weeks go by, Maeve and the kids haven't heard from Akira at all. Maeve texted Akira multiple times with no response about their children. After walking the kids to school, Maeve checked the mail before she went inside.

Samson: Oh, hey! You're the new move in! You live in 4, right?

Maeve not looking up from the mailbox: Yeah, we just moved in a couple weeks ago!

Samson: I live in 2, Are you new to the city?

Maeve: The kids are new to the city life, but I grew up in Uptown.

Maeve finally looks up and their eyes meet. It felt like time stood still, or the whole world was quiet just for them. Samson's lips were moving but Maeve only noticed how attractive he was, how easy going it was to have a conversation with him.

Samson stares at Maeve: Did you hear me?

Maeve: Oh, I'm sorry, I, uh, lost focus for a second. What did you say?

Samson: I asked if you liked Spice Area?

Maeve: Oh, It's lovely! We've enjoyed the farmer's market and the kids have been begging me to take them to the karaoke place, but I don't have the heart to tell them that it's a bar and they might not be allowed.

Samson: I think they let kids in? I'm not exactly sure.

Maeve: I don't wanna get their hopes up! We've traveled across town to Central Park. They seemed to enjoy that!

Samson: It was lovely meeting you, oh I didn't catch your name?

Maeve: It's Maeve, I didn't catch yours either.

Samson: Samson!

The next couple of weeks, Maeve and Samson were flirting and getting to know each other. Things were heating up between the two. Over coffee, they started talking about going on a date.... but Maeve decided she wasn't quite ready for that step. It had only been a couple months since she had gotten divorced.

Halloween - Maeve threw a Halloween party and invited her neighbors including Samson.

The party was going off without a hitch! Everyone having a good time, even the kids invited some kids from their new school to come to the party!

During the party, Maeve and Samson got to talking and Samson began flirting with her. Maeve suddenly wasn't feeling it anymore.

Samson: Your the cutest witch at this party.

Maeve: And what are you supposed to be?

Samson: I'm a sexy zombie!

Maeve: How is a zombie supposed to be sexy?

Samson: Because I'm sexy.

Samson wiggles his eyesbrows. Maeve laughs as she takes another bite of her pizza.

Samson: I know you've been putting off our date, but what about tomorrow night? Does that work for you?

Maeve set her plate down to give Samson her full attention: Samson, I really like you -

Samson: But?

Maeve: But I just don't think I'm ready for a relationship, not saying that's what you would want but I'm just ready for all of that. I have to think of my kids, my career, the age difference alone.

Samson: I don't care about the age difference. Everything else we can work through. I don't mind waiting as long as you need.

Maeve: You are young and you have a lot of life left, you should be able to do that without worrying about a woman with kids.

Samson: I won't push anymore, I understand. But know this Maeve, You'd be worth it.

Maeve: Thanks Sam.

Uzi finds herself missing V. Wishing she would come back. But be careful of what you wish for! (Post episode 7, Uzi isn't in space anymore, sorry about that.)

Step. Step. Step.

"V! Are you in here?" The light illuminated the pod. Hot pink, digital eyes darted from side to side, taking only a quick glance at the darkness which enveloped the area. "Lizzy who's the friend you're looking for again?" Thad asked curiously. He had heard about this 'friend' for a few hours, the one letter name made her sound like a Disassembly Drone like Uzi's friend.

"V. I brought her to prom a few months ago you dumbass," Lizzy reminded him, "short silver hair, addicted to murder, that sort of girl"

"I really don't think she's here. Don't you think it's time to..."

"Wait shut up, shut up, I hear something outside!" Lizzy bolted outside to see another worker drone she didn't recognise. A question mark was displayed on her screen."Oh, hey Zi!" Thad smiled and waved, sprinting to the purple-haired drone and raising his hand for a high-five. Uzi did nothing, a stoic expression on her screen before she seemed to snap out of it, awkwardly smiling.

"Hi, Thad... Lizzy" she greeted hoarsely.

"Where's V?" The tallest of the drones questioned Uzi before adding on "We've been looking all over the place for her and she isn't responding to my texts!" Her tone was worried, something the both had never seen from her frequently.

"She..." Uzi began, but her voice box stopped. She began whimpering and shaking, barely being able to stand on her two feet.

"Uzi...?" Thad slowly put his hand on his friend's shoulder, but she stepped back and whimpered, as if it were revoking a memory

Trudging through the thick snow that blanketed the ground with his arm carefully around her shoulders to help stabilise her, Thad was walking with Uzi, hearing taps and clicks from Lizzy, who was frantically texting as fast as her metal fingers could go.

"Uzi... do you wanna tell us what's wrong?" Thad inquired for what felt like the hundredth time. He usually wasn't one to pry into people's businesses, but this was his friend.

"No! Bite me!" She hissed, looking the other direction but not moving away.

Truth be told; the drone she was refusing to talk about always wrapped her arm around Uzi that way when she felt the need to protect her. It was nice to feel that again. Even in a platonic sense like it was when Thad did it.

Khan's mind was racing. His white eyes softening as he processed each and every word his daughter had spoken, not daring to look up.

"Yes. Yes I would have an idea of what you're going through. With your mother."

Khan was shivering, not from the non-existent cold air surrounding them, rather the memory haunting him of when Nori had repeatedly told him the same thing.

"She'd always say that once she could control her Solver abilities completely... we could be a normal family.

"Khan chuckled a little bit, reminiscing of some days, he'd wake up and get terrified of that one day he'd need to face reality that it couldn't work out. And how Nori would stay up with him, stay optimistic. She whole-heartedly believed she would fix her Solver before it got to that point. Or atleast, that's what she told him.

His hands were on his forehead, elbows on his knees and his head faced down, not wanting to remember those times knowing the outcome that they both hoped for never came to be."Dad..." Uzi began, but didn't finish.

"I-If you just want to have space or alone time or anything then, well, I'm happy to give it." Khan smiled, wanting to make thing right for his previous wrongdoings by giving Uzi the peace and quiet he wished people gave him when he had to put Nori down.It wasn't nearly enough to fix his neglect for her well-being all these years, but it was a start. He would start to fix things.

As he was about to stand up, a force shoved him back slightly.It was a hug. Given by Uzi. He had forgotten how this felt. "If it's okay with you, we can grieve together...?" She suggested, virtual tears on her violet eyes.A silence so loud rang. But it was an awkward silence.

priya - the fact that this paragraph wasn't 8 paragraphs ago pretty much sums up how i feel about her. she's fine. i like her a lot. bowie still should've won season 1, but if anyone im glad it was her. still, this was the perfect opportunity to priya to realize how her parents have been policing her life since birth but instead, they turn her into an indecisive lovestruck moron that basically took up the entire season. i was bored of the priyaleb storyline after maybe 3 or 4 episodes. but lucky me, i got to see 13 episodes of it instead 😃😃😃

julia - honestly not much to say here either. she is arguably the best player the show's ever had, but idk, my only gripe about her is that her entire thing is that she's a bitch to everyone except mk. maybe it's just me but i got bored after a while. maybe its bc the only storyline we had left by the end was priyaleb but the whole time i was like "congrats, you're a terrible person, can you do something else now?" 😭 idk maybe my expectations were too high. im just not feeling her as much as i did during season 1. the mullet will eat tho. she will make it work.

I don’t mind when the character is leaving the show - it’s like what Boden told Casey back in season 8, it is unusual that they had solid shift for so long so some changes are normal and more than welcome. New blood shifts the dynamic.

That being said - we should have more time with Gibson. He was way more interesting in those few episodes than carver and he stayed and we got rid off Gibson. Now we got Damon - and I don’t want to sound rude but when it comes to acting… there is a huge difference between them (and I still don’t like the fact that instead of deepening Sev’s relationship with Katie they put another sibling into the mix)

Maybe when Mouch takes the test and could probably switch companies we could get Gibson back? I know it’ll be probably Kylie but there was a time when there was more than 4 people on truck….

okay actually i need to ramble for a second about Stede and Ed.

In episode 7, Stede becomes a famous pirate, gets his ego all inflated and doesn't realize he's pushing Ed away because of it. Meanwhile, Ed has found he wants to drop being a pirate to instead become a fisherman and live the most quietest life possible despite him only ever catching one fish.

What you could have expected as character development for those two is that Stede either gets tired of "celebrity" or starts getting scared of it or anything that would have pushed him to realise his ego doesn't matter because it drove Ed away and he understands he doesn't want to be famous, he wants Ed. And meanwhile, Ed could've. I don't know. He could've done anything, maybe think fishing bores him actually because he isn't good at it, or he's lonely and misses the feeling of community he had with the Revenge crew. What I'm trying to say is they should have gotten some kind of shenanigan to make them go wait, i want to be with the other again. Something that could've gotten them both to make compromises and find balance together.

Because to me, that's what this story was about in previous episodes, and even in season 1. It was all about them going from one extreme to another (Stede being a softie in season 1 to being a pirate who kills in s2e7, and Ed being a ruthless pirate in season 1 to being a softie who fishes in s2e7) and about them finding balance when they're together, with each other.

But in the finale, instead, Ed is told that being a ruthless pirate is all he's good at, he BELIEVES that, and so goes back to being a pirate who kills a bunch of british people in cold blood. just. in the flip of a switch despite it not being what he WANTED. Meanwhile, Stede never once questions his actions from the last couple episodes, or his last conversation with Ed, he never gets taught a lesson about how his ego played a part in their breakup. Nope, instead they kiss and suddenly everything is alright. Ed forced himself back into an old role that he desperately wanted to get rid of for two seasons, Stede has grown into a douchebag, and while their last conversation was about "taking it slow" and about how Ed didn't feel appreciated, none of it is mentionned and they're just in love.

like im the first one to defend this show with "it's looney tunes logic" or "its a pirate romcom its not that serious" but it felt like they were going somewhere with this season, addressing interesting stuff, and then just. dropped it all of a sudden.

TH talks to HH accusing him of cheating and that he now wants to get rid of her and LL quickly. HH says brazenly that quickly or not, it depends on who is better. This text annoys LL who takes a hidden sword and attacks HH, TH also joins the attack. CWN stays with GXL sitting on the cart and tells her to run away with him. While HH, TH and LL are busy fighting, CWN and GXL escape into the forest. The older couple fights HH, and the young people run away. CWN asks GXL to run faster, at some point LL and TH appear on the road in front of them. CWN is surprised by their quick reaction and draws his sword. TH asks where they are going, adds that HH died at their hands and demands that the girl go with them. CWN tells GXL to run because he will stop them, GXL says that they should go together. CWN insists that she run away. CWN attacks the elderly couple and GXL escapes into the forest. A two-on-one fight is never an equal fight, and at some point LL knocks CWN to the ground and the young man loses consciousness. GXL looks back while running and sees what happened and shouts CWN's name. TH and LL approach her calmly, the helpless girl takes steps back. Suddenly a voice is heard accusing TH and LL how dare they do this. Suddenly SS appears between GXL and the elderly couple with a drawn sword in his hand. GXL is surprised to see SS, who tells LL and TH that he is warning them and demands that they leave his nieces alone and get out of his sight. GC runs up to SS and GXL. GXL is happy to see GX, who notices the unconscious CWN lying on the ground. The girl runs up to him and asks if he's okay. GX lifts him up by the shoulders, sits him on the ground and asks if everything's okay. LL tells SS to stop talking and explains that he and his wife are taking GXL with them. Immediately afterwards, the couple starts attacking SS. GX, supporting the unconscious CWN, watches the fight that SS is having with his opponents. The fight is even, GX helps CWN sit up and leans him against a tree trunk. GX looks at the young man with tenderness. Meanwhile, during the fight, LL begins to weaken, and TH holds him, concerned about his condition. GXL runs up to SS who is standing with a drawn sword. LL, swaying on his feet, asks his wife to leave. LL says that a husband and wife are like birds from the same forest that fly separately when a disaster comes and tells TH to run away. TH tells him to be quiet. The older woman asks SS to do it quickly, while LL asks SS to let his wife go. TH tells LL not to ask SS for anything. Then he adds, saying to her husband, "Darling," that they always wanted to die together. GXL listens to their words in silence. TH explains that in the next life, she will be his husband and he will be able to tease her. SS firmly states that I will give them what they want. But when he wants to use the sword, GXL asks him to wait. SS turns around and looks at the girl. The older couple is furious with HH for cheating them and decides to fight him. CWN and GXL use this to escape, but their plan does not quite work out. In the end, CWN starts fighting LL and TH, but is defeated. GXL is confused and terrified, but the arrival of SS saves the day. This time, LL and TH, weakened by the previous fight, are unable to face SS. Seeing her husband's condition, TH wants SS to kill them, while LL asks SS to let TH live. GX, on the other hand, is terrified to see CWN unconscious. There are a lot of different emotions in this scene and through it we can get to know our heroes of the series better, who have changed throughout this time.

Summary - Eddie and the Reader comfort each other after their time in The Upside Down

A/n - Gender Neutral Reader. Not Requested. Just some hurt/comfort and fluff. This can take place after the events of episode 7 or episode 9. I’m just hoping that Eddie doesn’t die in season 4 part 2

The remains of the soap slipped down your back. You had been in the shower for a while now, trying desperately to scrub off any evidence of The Upside Down from your body. You probably rubbed parts of your skin raw, but you didn’t want to remember that place. You knew that in the back of your head that doing this wouldn’t get rid of your memories from there, but you could try.

You stayed in the shower for a bit longer, allowing the warm water to crash onto your head and run down your face. It was almost meditative. Something about feeling the water drops run down your body finally allowed you to feel a feeling close to relaxation. But no matter how much you tried to reach a peaceful mindset, an image of The Upside Down would always flash across your mind. 

You hung your head lower and closed your eyes, fully letting the water crash down upon your head. You hoped that the water might take away the countless images that remained in your brain, no matter how foolish that hope probably was. Suddenly you felt two arms curl around your waist and another rush of fear and paranoia ran through your body.

“It’s alright. It’s just me.” Eddie whispered into your neck while keeping his arms firmly around your middle in an attempt to keep you steady on your feet. Of course, he also just needed to hold you.

“Eddie? What are you doing?”

“I missed you. It was too lonely in your room without you there with me.” 

“You’re still wearing your clothes.”

“It’s fine. They need a wash. They reek of … that place.” You winced upon recalling The Upside Down, once again. You were pretty sure Eddie noticed, too. He rubbed his hands up and down your sides as he kissed the space between your shoulder blades.

“Want to stay here with me?” You turned slightly in order to catch a glimpse of the metalhead, who was currently nuzzling into your shoulder. He needed you and you needed him right now.

“Yes, please.” You turned in Eddie’s arms and smiled at him bittersweetly. Eddie returned the same bittersweet smile. You pulled on the bottom hem of his shirt to silently ask if you could help him remove his clothes. Eddie nodded to your request, a tiny smirk sneaking past the sadness heavily written on his face. You removed Eddie’s leather jacket, then peeled his semi wet hellfire club shirt over his head. You bent down to untie Eddie’s shoes and removed them from his feet, along with his socks. Finally, you removed Eddie’s pants and underwear, holding his hand while helping him step out of the clothing. Both of you threw all of Eddie’s Upside Down covered clothes to one side of the tub before you and Eddie shuffled to huddle together under the showerhead.

You brushed away some of Eddie’s now wet hair from his face. You could see in his eyes that he was finally breaking down. First Chrissy died before his eyes. Then he had to run from everyone and to endure being blamed for everything happening with the deaths in the town. Then all of you got trapped in The Upside Down. Eddie didn’t have any time to process these events before, but now he did. 

Eddie’s eyes welled up with tears and his face contorted in pain and fear and sadness before he finally collapsed onto you. You immediately wrapped your arms tightly around him. You tried your best to comfort the person you cared about the most, but you were hurting too. You broke down crying into Eddie’s shoulder and his arms tighten their grip around your torso. 

Neither of you knew how long the two of you stayed holding each other while crying out your frustration and fear, but it was long enough for the water to grow ice cold. The two of you finally parted, but Eddie still needed to shower. You were going to leave the bathtub, but Eddie stopped you before you could.

“Can you stay in the bathroom, at least?” You nodded in silent agreement.

You tiptoed out of the shower and wrapped up in a couple of towels before sitting on the toilet seat. You looked up at Eddie, who left shower curtain open, completely not caring about all of the water that splashed onto the floor. He showered quickly because of the temperature of the water, but covered himself in shampoo and soap, like you had. It was clear that he was trying to scrub away the debris and the memories of The Upside Down.

Eddie shut off the shower and stepped out to the tub, not caring enough to remove his Upside Down covered clothes at this moment. Eddie also didn’t care about a towel as he just walked out of the shower and grabbed your hand to pull you back to your room. Thankfully, your parents were out of town, otherwise they would have protested the two of you walking around naked together, let alone allowing a suspected murderer into your house.

You were pretty dry already, but Eddie insisted on the two of you drying each other. Eddie took one of the towels you had wrapped around yourself and wrapped it around his shoulders. You took another towel and plopped it on his head, causing him to giggle. Eddie grabbed the ends of the towel around your body and insisted that you do the same to his towel. Eddie began to pull the towel back and forth rapidly, like in a cartoon or a movie. You assumed that Eddie was trying to distract you from everything that happened and it was working. You did the same to Eddie, causing him to laugh, too. It was good to hear his laugh again.

When the two of you dried off, Eddie gave you one of his old Corroded Coffin shirts to wear that he had brought with him to your house. Eddie got dressed in a pair of boxer shorts, but chose to stay shirtless.

You and Eddie crawled into your bed and quickly curled up under your blankets. It was warming up now by this time of year in Indiana, but it could still be quite chilly at night. Eddie pulled you tightly against his chest and nuzzled his face into your neck, he loved smelling the mix of your scent and his. It always managed to calm him down. 

You could feel the dampness of Eddie’s hair, but you didn’t care enough about the fact that he was also getting your bed wet to do anything to remove yourself from Eddie’s arms. You just wanted to hold him, and he just wanted to hold you. Eventually, the two of you fell asleep holding onto each other tightly and braving the memories of The Upside Down together.

N. A.: Somehow I feel this one is more of a chapter of transition, a calm passage between two important points of the story: the party when everything is settled and the future of Hades and reader's relationship. There are no great changes or events in it, if you don't count the curious revelation on Loki's part, but I hope you like it :)

Both gods and humans agreed that the party of that year was memorable, so much that it was the main subject of the conversations for days after.

Since the guardianship period didn’t end with it, the gods and goddesses stood in the company of their students for the subsequent weeks, while the ones who adopted pupils at the night of the presentations started their work right after it, and the ones who didn’t become instructors left a few days later.

Hades’ brothers, who basically came to meet the woman about whom he talked, didn’t stay for the same amount of time: Poseidon, despite treating you with politeness, didn’t hold great affection for humans, having no reason to stay longer than necessary and leaving Valhalla in the next day, but not before talking briefly with his elder brother and stating that he would come back in a matter of months, for his presence would be requested only then; Zeus, who had some juridical matters to discuss with the Nordic head, stood for two weeks, but you rarely saw him during this time; Adamas, on the other hand, decided to stay for an entire month enjoying the delights of the blessed lands, and during this period you had some cheerful interactions, most of them supervised by Hades, who didn’t hide his contentment with such friendship: his second brother sort of adopted you as a little sister, thus being the responsible for you to feel like you were part of the family. Finally, he had to go to Hellheim in order to replace Hades in the practical aspects since the King would stay away from his domains for a couple of months. You were a bit sad when he said his farewell, but you were content to know that he would come back soon.

Now, among the deities who stood for longer, there was one whose presence wasn’t exactly good news to you: Loki, who wouldn’t leave until Odin-sama decided it was time to return to Asgard. You still didn’t forgive him completely for the episode at the balcony, but chose not to speak about it anymore; to your surprise, Loki did the same, but he would take any chances to play little tricks on you when Hades and Adamas weren’t around. None of them were as unpleasant as the one of the goblet, being limited to attempts to scare you by appearing suddenly in your way in the form of animals, statues or objects, but you somehow learned to recognize him moments before his transformations. Still, the game continued to be funny to the god, who was determined to have you as his main target – or, in his words, “as my new favorite friend”.

At first, you tried to get rid of him, but it didn’t take long for you to understand that getting rid of someone like Loki was an impossible task, so you just endured the situation. But, after some time, you found in yourself some patience to deal with him: you noticed that, even among his Nordic partners, Loki was a bit of a solitary god, more because his nature was youthful if compared to their stern manners than because of his tricks and jokes. Besides, if your supposition that he was around the same age as Hermes was correct, he must belong to the small group of young gods there, getting easily bored around the elders. The presence of many young girls, to whom anything from the gods’ land was a novelty, might have excited him, so he would divide his free time between you and the others – a routine that didn’t please Hermes, who saw his work become twice as hard now that he had to watch the girls from even closer. Finally, being his heart a mystery even to other gods, he never talked to you about it, but you started to think that he was actually cheering with the perspective of seeing a new goddess being born, something that doesn’t happen everyday, which would explain his “obsession” with you.

One day before the Nordic pantheon finally left Valhalla, you had a brief conversation at the Gardens, in which the god of Mischief found a new way to surprise you.

You somehow were talking about Hades’ enigma, and Loki was now stating that, despite being poetic just like a good enigma should be, it wasn’t really difficult.

– Hades-sama is really good with his words – he was saying – But he kept it too easy, you know? He really wanted you to solve it.

In other times, you would find yourself offended by it, as a suggestion that Hades was insulting your intelligence, but now you were just curious.

– Perhaps – you shrugged – But I really don’t care. I enjoyed working on it – and, turning directly to him, – But how long would you take to solve it, Loki-sama?

There was a statue of a woman sitting on a stone beside you. Loki was on her lap, with his legs crossed, the moment he replied to you.

– Less time than you, of course – he grinned.

– But wouldn’t it kill the diversion?

– What?

You had a narcissus in your hands. You twirled it by holding the stem between your fingers.

– I know I took too long to figure out everything, and only did it in time because of a random accident, but I had a good time in the process. I believe this is more important – you smiled to yourself – I feel like I became another person after solving it, and I have no desire to come back to what I was before. And, in my opinion, we shouldn’t even want to come back.

Loki frowned, but agreed.

– I suppose you’re right – he sighed, his feet dangling on your peripheral sight as he spoke –You know what? When I saw you for the first time, I thought you were just a cute, simple girl, but I started to change my mind when I talked to you. You’re a really interesting creature, y/n-chan.

Now, you were the one who frowned. What did he mean with “saw you for the first time”? Did he see you before the episode of the serpent?

– I don’t understand. When did you...?

– Ah, don’t you remember? – he seemed to be enjoying each second of your surprise – I thought you were the type who recognizes a fake when you see one.

– I…

– Hm… Shortly after entering the ball room, you went to a table and started observing the names of the seats. Then, an elf woman came to offer her help, presenting you the very seat you were occupying at the table. Do you remember her? – and, more to himself than to you, – I could swear we have the same eyes...

You held your breath. You remembered the beautiful elven maid with red hair who came to guide you through the table, and who told you that your name was settled between Hades’ and Zeus’ as a request from the first one. So, that woman was actually Loki?

– It was you, then… – you murmured the obvious.

The god created the same crown of yellow flowers the elf wore and put it on his own head, then started moving on the statue’s lap, cheering: he had no scruples in seeking for attention and compliments.

– Are you impressed, y/n-chan? – he asked, clearly waiting for a response.

You sighed. If he was going to leave Valhalla and soon stop testing you, there was really no reason for you to deny something so silly, but apparently so important to him.

You opened your best smile to reply:

– I am. It was really impressive – you shrugged – And, to be honest, that disguise was much better than the white snake.

Loki's cheeks got red when he heard that.

– Really? Do you think so?

– Yes – you replied with sincerity – I really liked it.

Loki’s eyes glowed up with the confirmation, and for a moment you thought he was going to cry. You thought his reaction was too emotional – too honest – for someone whose first instinct was to hide his true disposition, but the thing was that observations about his abilities were a sensitive matter to him, given that he didn’t always get recognition for his talents among other gods.

In the end, your case with him had a more peaceful ending that you thought to be possible, and when the Nordic group finally left the blessed lands, Loki seemed so sad for separating from you that you got worried.

Is it just me or was he really developing a crush on me?

During the next months in Valhalla, you lived what looked like a dream.

You spent a good amount of your time alone, but sometimes you appreciated the company of the girls. There was a curious change in how you were seen by them: some who were among the first to find guardians and haven’t built a close friendship with you were now willing to treat you as an acquaintance; you, on the other hand, preferred to seek the company of the others who, just like you, took longer to find their place there. These ones, you sensed it, were really happy for you, and wouldn’t hesitate in drowning you with questions about your future and how “dating a god”, as they used to say, felt like; you were willing to answer them as best as you could, but there were some things you were yet to discover, and others that you’d rather keep to yourself.

Your most recurrent contact, however, was with Hades, who would be there until the time for him to leave the world of the living would come – and the time for you to decide if you would go with him or not.

Since the King of Hellheim was now playing a role similar to that of an instructor, your routine was now organized primarily by him: you continued your studies at the Library, but now they were directed to themes related to the Underworld, the destiny of souls and many other metaphysical themes. Just like the researching sessions you’ve been doing by yourself, those lessons used to take entire afternoons, during which you would discuss every subject in each possible detail, as you would listen to his explanations with a mixture of curiosity and fascination, taking so many notes that Hermes had to get you a new notebook after a few weeks.

During those days, you and Hades became the closest friends. Communication between you were free and constant, and it didn’t take long until it became your favorite part of the day. Because of the countless ages during which he has been alive, Hades knew stories about many places and many people, some of them long gone, others still existing by the time you were born; you loved sitting by his side and listening in awe as he described the appearance, personality and principles of men and women whose names were now part of History, the difficulties and rewards of their journeys and the lands they walked on, all of this in the god’s soothing voice and wise choice of words that made you feel like part of those adventures. By the end of the stories, you would discuss what you would do exactly like the heroes and what you would avoid, and ask many questions about details that Hades forgot or didn’t have time to explain.

During those conversations, you also had opportunities to reveal many things about your life as a human to him. You told him that you lived in the same house you were born with your parents, your sisters, Luna and Helena, and a niece, Ellie, who was still a toddler; this latter was actually daughter of your elder sister, Nora, who passed away months after the girl came to the world, so now she was raised as one of your own and you were now the eldest girl of the family, with Luna being fifteen years old and Helena twelve. Despite your city being considered small, it was a port city, so that you used to meet all kinds of people in its streets while you worked alongside your mother, and in your school there were kids who would present themselves as workers of the ships and would stay as temporary students, taking lessons for a few days or a few weeks until they left the town with their ships. Your homeland was a fantastic place to live, as much as a dangerous one, where things were never the same except for the ones who stood in it like you. It was funny that, no matter how trivial, ordinary the events you told him seemed to be (at least in your eyes), Hades would pay close attention to each sentence with utter interest; at first, you thought that, for someone with his knowledge, he was exaggerating in this, but as time passed you understood that it was the first time in his life that he became so close to a human and found yourself more and more comfortable in your narratives: he was perhaps the most attentive listener you’ve ever had, and that was good thing.

You two discovered many things in common, such a deep interest in History, arts, literature, philosophy and the mysteries of the mind, and would have much fun exchanging books at the Library, inventing games and sharing opinions on the things you’ve learned, but you also had significant differences, for example, while Hades had a great understanding of politics and laws, you were just crawling on these subjects, having to be told everything from the basics. But not all divergences between you were this big: some were simple, even funny, such as his passion for crafting (well seen in the hairpin he created for you) and your complete lack of talent for it: he even tried to teach you some techniques, but after a few attempts you both decided that, for the sake of your relationship, you should stop there. After some days, however, you realized that your struggling in this sense derived from your inability of make use of already existent tools, with no possibility of alterations or spontaneous creation, so there might be some hope for you in the future.

In the meantime, you paid a visit to Valhalla’s Greenhouse and discovered a new hobby, one that you would never have the chance to develop in your homeland: botany. You fell in love with the study of flowers and plants, and the possibility of creating new ones, with unique characteristics, using the science of the gods, quickly became a passion, so that your free time were now spent mostly among the greenhouse’s experiments. Hades used to make you company during those hours, and observed your activities with a smile. One day, when you asked him why he seemed so satisfied in observing while you worked, he just replied that witnessing one’s love for a study field was always satisfying; you didn’t continue that conversation, but you had the sensation that he caught a glimpse of your future in it.

There was a morning when you were together at the Secret Garden, resting under the pomegranate tree after having your breakfast there. Hades had his back on the tree’s trunk while you were on his lap, making a crown with some flowers you managed to grow the last days, as the empty plates were left beside you upon a cloth.

You were talking about a book you just finished reading, and you stated that the antagonist reminded you of Loki.

Hades seemed surprised with this observation.

– Really? But to which aspect of Loki’s personality you’re referring to? Because, you see, he’s more than what you had the chance to observe during his short stay here.

You smiled while your fingers braided the hems of two flowers together: you already had half of the crown finished.

– The part of him that unconsciously seeks for people’s attention – you explained – Even if he has to get it through negative ways.

– It’s probably his most prominent trait – Hades commented – Most of the times, it is inoffensive, but he can cause great damage when he’s really invested.

– I see – you took another flower to braid with the crown – Just like the book’s character, that’s certainly an irritating trait, but I think it couldn’t be any different. Being the god of Mischief, this must be the only way of living known to him.

– And do you think it’s limiting him? Because he doesn’t see that way.

– No – your hands stopped working for a moment – I just think it’s sad.

You saw Hades taking one of the flowers on your lap, then felt his fingers brushing your hair before placing the flower in them, behind your ear.

– You know, I could say I don’t enjoy seeing your moods shaken by someone who’s now miles away from us, or tell you to not feel so deeply sorry for him – he gave you the same sad smile you saw at the party, when you talked at the balcony after Loki’s provocation – But I know it would be useless because, apparently, that’s how your heart works. It’s a rarity to see such thing, and it only makes it more beautiful.

After feeling your cheeks warming up at this, your response was to take a flower and repeat Hades’ gesture, leaving it behind his ear to match your own.

– I wish I could be harder in my judgments, but I just can’t – you smiled – Still, if you think it’s beautiful to be like this, then I guess I can be satisfied.

Twisted Wonderland Thoughts and Theories #1

I’m here with some thoughts and theories about the new Diasomnia episode 7 chapters!

This update contains some of the most unsettling chapters of the game. It just made me shudder all over.

Well, I don’t want to give too many spoilers up here.

So, as always I’ll put everything under a cut!

This update is just crazy!

It’s starts of all lighthearted and then becomes DARK at the end.

I’ve been trying not to cry but it was really hard-

As you all probably know by now, Malleus is my favorite character and I feel really connected to him.

It kind of feels like he’s the fictional depiction of my personality and me as a person. So seeing him snap and lose it, hit home really strongly. It was really hard for me to not feel like I could see myself in his shoes.

The way he screamed at Lillia in chapter 37 and told him “I WON’T HAVE TO LOSE YOU!!”, made me cry.

He sees Lillia as family and a friend. He’s not afraid of him or who he is. He sees beyond the scary exterior that Malleus can’t get rid of.

Malleus is attached to that. He’s attached to anyone that can see beyond his cold, scary exterior.

He could have refused being anyone’s friend at any time and he wouldn’t have been attached to anyone.

Right now, Malleus knows that those close to him have not hurt him in any way. So to him, it’s scary if they suddenly leave and that’s why he acted so rashly.

I’ll give a bit of an INFJ personality example, as I think he is one. His choices in this update make it clearer that he is, indeed, an INFJ.

INFJs don’t usually lose people but, people lose them. Let me explain: If I (an INFJ) befriend someone or get to know someone that later hurts me, I won’t make a fuss or fight. I would leave silently and have that person regret what they did. However, we only leave if we no longer see a solution and no longer care. If we fight and cry, we see a glimpse of hope and we still care. That can change at anytime though.

INFJs don’t like losing people they care about. We over think it and make ourselves feel like we wronged the person that left, even if it wasn’t our fault. We try to do anything we can to make our loved ones stay by our side. Loss hurts and it hurts much more when there are regrets involved as well as overthinking.

This is exactly what Malleus did in this chapter, he did what he could to make his loved ones stay. It might not be morally right but, he did the thing he found was within his power.

That is what made me emotional. He did exactly what I right now would say that I wouldn’t do and that it’s fictional, I don’t have such power. But when I think about it, if I were him, I would have done the same, if it was the only thing I could do. He’s scared of loss, he’s scared of being truly lonely. If I were in his shoes, I would have done the same. No matter how much I knew that they would hate me when they got back. I would believe that what I did was for them, even if it was selfish, I would believe that I did the right thing.

I think this is how Malleus feels and I understand that not everyone agrees with what he did. I am not trying to justify it. All I know and believe is that he acted on his fears. He lost his parents and now the person he saw as a friend and a family figure is going to leave him as well? Well, I think any of us would have snapped and gone mad.

I’ve also suffered a lot of losses of dear people. This is probably why I feel so much sympathy for Malleus. It’s much worse if you can do something and don’t do it. Even if it’s not the ideal solution. Well he did what he did so there’s no way of changing that.

Or maybe there is-

This brings us to the second part of this post. The theory part. (Even if we had a bit of theory above too)

We’ll also be discussing his overblot form. So first a screenshot from the game. (I’m also looking at the full overblot image)

I’ll just say it. He looks absolutely stunning and I would like to know where he found this stylish outfit-

Really-

Mhm-

The blot tears are dripping down much further than in the other overblot designs. They’re basically telling us that he’s been holding back his pain for hundreds of years.

The thorns symbolize the shackles of his position and power and everything he’s had to suppress.

He also has a belt over the thorn corset, it’s fastened in a way that makes it feel hasty. It feels like a symbol for hastily suppressed emotions, that are on the verge of erupting.

His horns are glowing with the same color that his powers have. His tail does the same.

He has blot markings on his face and his hand that look like dragon scales.

The markings on his face and the slicked back hair reminds me of Maleficent’s image with her head piece and horns.

The ends of his outfit are torn but with a spiky thorn like look on them. Even his leggings and underskirt(?) have spikes and look like thorns. His cape has green thorns as well.

He has this thorn harness(?) over his chest and a collar metal like tight around his neck.

His whole overblot outfit gives off the impression of symbolizing restraint and suppressed emotions.

No matter how much he smiles or laughs, there is still this coldness to it. It’s like he’s numb to his emotions.

We’ll probably get to know soon enough.

His shadow looked a lot like Maleficent in this image below:

Now for another image.

This basically shows how strong Malleus is. His powers put a whole country/island to sleep. I think he would have been able to do much more damage had he wanted to. He’s too strong.

“You will be the heroes of a fairy tale.”

This makes it seem as if Malleus is telling them to fight him. Or that he’s giving them a second chance to save themselves from this fate. Or he’s not talking to the characters but to the people playing the role of the main character. To us. He’s telling us to be the hero of this story and save ourselves and the others.

There have also been these theories about the Yuu-verse and that there have been a lot of Yuus that have failed at stopping Malleus. Maybe there is a hidden chapter that unlocks after you defeat Malleus in the battle. But it’s impossible to win so I don’t know how this will go.

I think he might be alluding to The Sleeping Beauty trope and how they will be heroes, either saving each other or getting saved. He might also be alluding to the Maleficent movies and how she was portrayed as a hero instead of a villain in that story. He’s basically talking about the story of Twisted Wonderland as well, and how it’s making villains show heroic characteristics. It’s an amazing line and just makes the gears turn in my head.

If you look closely here, the logo is rippling like water.

The fact that Malleus started singing Once Upon a Dream at this moment makes it feel as if you’re being in a dream. The rippling images in movies and the sound of a harp playing always meant that the character was getting a flashback or dreaming in old movies. This might indicate that the game is going to start over until we save everyone from Malleus or that we’re all goners now.

I have a feeling that Idia or Maleficia (Malleus’s grandma) or both might help us out of this situation.

Or we’ll get a super out of the box surprise with all of the Yuus arriving at the door from different universes to help us (the current Yuu) defeat Malleus. That would be epic.

Or a more ultra super maximum universe can not comprehend out of the box surprise where the great 7 come and save us with Maleficent as the leader. That would be epic beyond belief.

Or all of the above.

I’d be happy with anything as long as it makes the wait worth it.

This part at the end of chapter 37 made me shudder because it was really unsettling.

Malleus is humming to Once Upon a Dream and it sounds hypnotic and scary. It almost sounds more like the Maleficent movie version more than The Sleeping Beauty version. The first is much darker and sounds scary while the latter is upbeat and sounds happy and sweet.

It feels like we’re getting an early ending, like a game over after meeting the final boss. It’s like we’re starting the game again. Like we woke up from an eternal sleep, to try our luck with saving the world again.

It just feels melancholy and like dejavu, like losing your memories but remembering the feelings you had associated with them. It’s strange and it’s a great thing that this game has accomplished. You don’t get this feeling easily in real life. This game should get awards and worldwide recognition for the amazing work put into it.
