A/N: Surprise you guys! I decided to post this first instead of the Jihyo fic ;) Man this was so much fun to write! I thought it would be cool to write something like this since I haven't seen anyone write about the main love interest set in the Samurai era. It was a little tricky at first since I had to do a little research, but it's nothing I can't handle. Let me know if i did okay! This is my first time writing anything smut related so I’m very nervous about it 😅 It also kind of turned into a yapping session... Hirai Momo is a well-respected and feared samurai in the Paand Xico Nation

Known for defeating many powerful armies and killing the best swordsmen

She is fierce on the battlefield and cocky as hell too

She doesn’t show any mercy

Merciful only towards townspeople who are in danger 

She is a samurai alongside her other 8 comrades called the “Osoroshī Defenders”

They rose to power after defeating an almighty empire, and saving their hometown, the Paand Xico Nation

They are known for being a fierce samurai squad with kind-hearted personalities

Momo has been best friends with her 8 samurai comrades ever since childhood when she first started samurai training

She grew very close with them over the years, and eventually told them that she was gay

The funny thing is, they knew already

When she told them Jihyo was like “Yeah we know. It's pretty obvious by the way you look at Y/N. You are definitely in love with her, and you get like a gay panic attack every time you see her.”

Momo was so glad that they were supportive of her

But she was also a little shocked since there was still the possibility of them being weirded out by her after her confession

She even cried that night while going to bed because she was so happy

The members like to tease her every now and then when she talks to you, or when she gushes to them over how cute you are 🥹

How you guys met

You and Momo were childhood friends

Met each other at a very young age

Both of your guys’ parents were close friends of each other’s so you crossed paths pretty often

The both of you spent time with each other a lot

You and Momo would go explore the woods, and play around in the creeks

Racing to the creek was essential for the both of you

Sometimes you would dare her to do weird stuff, and she would always do it just to see your reaction

When you guys would be walking down the creek, sometimes she would splash water at you and you would get mud on your shoes/clothes

"Y/N you should've seen the look on your face whenever you got splashed! Oh my gosh, it was so funny."

You two became inseparable over time

Momo’s mom would have to drag her home some days because she would be at your house for to long

As Momo got a little older, she became interested in wanting to be a samurai

She mostly wanted to be one so she could protect you one day, and to show off her cool skills

She loved how cool they looked, and the way they would fight with their swords

So she enthrall y begged her mom to take her to lessons

When she told you she was taking lessons to become a samurai, you were shook

“Y/n, did you hear? I’m gonna become a samurai!”

“Wait what?! When did you decide that?”

“I had my mom start taking me to lessons the other day! Someone’s gotta be able to protect you from the bad guys someday ;)”

You were very happy for her, but also very worried since she can be aloof at times

Momo loves to show off her cutting skills with her katana

After cutting down a small tree she would smirk at you and say, “Wanna give it a try, Y/N?”

How you became her crush

She developed a huuuge crush on you around the time when she started samurai training (10 yrs old)

(A/N: yeah I did some research, they really did have the kids start samurai training when they were 10 yrs old…)

Momo noticed how beautiful you were one summer night, when you both were stargazing while laying in a field of grass

She was mesmerized by your beauty, and how cute you sounded when you would giggle at her ranting about the stars

From then on, she had a habit of always admiring your looks 💕

“Momo what are you looking at?”

“Oh nothing. I just now noticed you have this little freckle on your nose that looks like a heart. It’s cute.”

You developed a crush on her some years later, after realizing how sweet she was with you

(both 16yrs old)

And you thought she was pretty cute too, with her long black hair, and her beautiful features

It was almost impossible not to fall in love with her

Momo would love to hand feed you snacks, and fix your hair when it would get messy

She also loved giving you makeovers during slumber parties

She’s really clingy and affectionate in general

When you would catch her training, she always wanted to teach you a technique she learned that day

Would end up failing to do so because it was always some advanced shit

She would purposely be hands-on while teaching you, and you would be a blushing mess while she helped you adjust your grip on the katana

Momo got protective of you as she got older, stronger, and more experience with training

(now both 18 yrs old)

And damn did she have some killer muscles

Especially her abs good lord-

When she would get a scratch on her, or a cut, you would always be there to bandage her up

And of course, Momo would be a blushing mess as you would put a patch on her cheek

Afterwards, you would always get onto her about how she needs to be more careful and whatnot

She would just laugh a little bit while looking at you with admiration

Momo found it so cute how protective you were of her, even though she was becoming a tough samurai

At school, she would always glare at the boys that would try to hit on you

And she would protect you from bullies too

“Y/N what happened to your arm? Why is it all bruised?”

“A boy wouldn’t leave me alone after I told him I didn’t want to date him, so he fought me because he was so mad.”

“Momo did you hear? Someone beat up the same boy that punched me the other day… I wonder who it was.”

(clearly has bruises on her knuckles) “I don’t know, maybe it was a tougher girl or something. Who knows, he had it comin to him anyways.”

You thought it was cute how protective she was over you

Whenever you would cry, she would always be there to hold you and tell you sweet nothings

She hated seeing you cry :(

Your happiness is her happiness

Momo made a vow to herself that in the future, she would still be the one holding you like this but in a different setting

The confession

When Momo was finally finished with samurai training (20-21 yrs old), she was super excited

But her excitement didn’t last for long

She got the news that she would have to be sent out to war for a couple months, or even a year, along with the other troops and her 8 best friends

You were both devastated

What if I never see her again? What if I never get to tell her I love her?

On the day of Momo’s departure, your face was stained with a waterfall of tears

She was standing outside nearby the army of soldiers with you in her arms , waiting until they were ready to depart

You and Momo had been hugging for a really long time, making sure you both took each other in before it was time for her to leave

After some time, the main advisor of the squadron spoke up…

“Alright everyone, say your last goodbye’s to your loved ones. We will be heading out in no less than 5 minutes!”

Momo tried to let go of your grip, but you held onto her and moved your position so you could look her in the eyes

“Do you really have to go? Maybe you could fake an injury, and say you’re too crippled to fight or something.”

“I can’t do that Y/N, you know that. It’s my duty as a samurai to defend this nation with my life, and to make sure I can be the strongest warrior.”

“Yeah your right, I know you can’t just bail out. But, I’m just scared you won’t come back. How long do you think you’ll be gone? And what if you get really hurt?”

“Our advisor said we’d be gone for months, or even a year. It depends on how long the war goes. Me and the girls are scared too, but we’re also confident in our abilities. Don’t worry Y/N, you know I’m a tough cookie and I’ll be able to handle myself out there.”

She tried smiling at you after she said that, so it would somehow to calm you down a little

But she knew deep down, that you could read her like a book

You already knew how nervous she was just by looking in her eyes

“Alright everyone, get ready. We are leaving as of now! Momo, go get your horse and be ready to leave, or else you’ll get left behind!”

“Okay okay I’m coming! I have to go now Y/N, make sure you take care of yourself okay? I’ll be back before you know it. You won’t even realize I’m gone.”

“Okay Momo stay safe. I lo-.” You quickly stopped yourself. At that moment, you weren’t really sure if you wanted to confess your love to her yet

“What was that last part Y/N?”

“Oh nothing, just go Momorin. Your advisor looks pretty pissed.”

“Haha okay then. Goodbye Y/N. Stay safe for me okay?.”

“I will, I promise.”

Momo walked away with a smile on her face, but on the inside, she was heartbroken

She knew it would be a while before she could ever see you again

Momo jumped onto the horses saddle, and exhaled a long breath making sure it would prevent her from crying

But when she turned around and saw you waving, she made sure to engrave that image in her head until she saw you again in the months to come

You both waved back at each other until Momo seemed to be getting further away from the eye, as her horse trotted away. Soon becoming unrecognizable in the thick fog enveloping the forest

Memories came flooding back, as Momo’s horse trotted through the very same winding creeks and little caves you guys used to play in

Oh god how she missed you already, and it hadn’t even been 5 minutes yet

As Momo started thinking about you, she started getting worried about whether if she was making the right choice or not. So, she decided to asked her best friends for help

“Guys, do you think I’m doing the right thing by leaving Y/N? I mean I feel like I should’ve told her something else before we parted ways, but I can’t figure out what I should’ve said.”

Jeongyeon whispered under her breathe, “you damn idiot…”

“What did you say Jeongyeon? Why don’t you come over here and tell me what you just said, instead of just whispering it under your breath huh?!”

Jeongyeon exhaled a deep breath she had been holding in, and finally let out what she’s been wanting to say for a while

“I said, you’re a damn idiot! Haven’t you loved Y/N for what, I don’t know, 10 years? And you still haven’t told her that you love her? What if you don’t come back from this damn war, and she has to wonder all her life if you ever loved her or not? Don’t you want to marry her someday, and be able to call her your wife?"

Momo sat there for a moment just stunned. As she thought about it for a while, she finally realized she was making a mistake

“God, what the fuck am I doing?” Momo said

“Go get your girl Momoring!” Nayeon retaliated

Jihyo also had a few words of wisdom for her too, “Don’t hesitate to tell her how you feel either! You may not get another chance.”

“You’re right, I need to go see her right now! I’m gonna go, but I’ll be back in 10 minutes tops. Tell the advisor I’ll be right back, or else I’ll get my ass kicked.”

Momo made a sharp turn with her horse and made it gallop at speeds faster than it had ever gone

As she got closer and closer to where you and her last saw each other, she could see your faint figure in the distance

You were finally walking away from the send off area, and accepting the fact that she was really gone

Unitl you heard a familiar voice loud shout from the forest, "Y/N, wait!"

Is that... Momo? you thought

You stopped in your tracks with your face contorted with all sorts of confusion, and then you turned around

And there she was

The horse hooves slid on the dirt, making the dirt kick up and the horse come to a smooth stop

"Y/N!" Momo yelled out

"Momo? What are you doing here why are you-"

She jumped off her horse and jogged over to you

"I can explain!" She stops in front of you panting and out of breath

Your face is still ridden with confusion, wondering why this goofball was standing n front of you, and not with her squadron

"What is it Momo I don't understand..."

Momo's breathing slows down a little bit, and her heart pumps with adrenaline

She speaks a little bit faster than usual, hinting at her obvious urgency, and nerves of confessing to you

She grabs both of your hands and hold them

"I-I have something to tell you Y/N... Something I've been wanting to get off of my chest for a long time."

Your eyes widen

Is it what you think it is?

Momo sees the shock on her face, and she does something that even she surprised herself with

"Oh screw it."

She quickly let go of your hands and brought hers up to both sides of you face, bringing you in for a sudden but loving kiss

"Wha-" You're cut off as she kisses you

It takes a couple seconds for you to process it, but once you do, you melt into it

You smile into the kiss, and wrap your arms around her, bringing her even closer your body

The kiss was oh so romantic, listening to the rainfall in the background, and feeling your clothes get from how long you two were standing there

It was all worth it

When Momo pulled away, she looked at you starstruck, still trying to process the fact that she just kissed you

Her lifelong crush!

You smiled back at her, feeling the same amount of shock as Momo

"Wow... I didn't know you had that in you."

She giggled and then hit pinched your cheeks playfully

"Well, I have many surprises Y/N."

"I can see that... How long have you been wanting to do that for?"

"Years... Most definitely." She caressed your face with her thumb, looking at you with pure love and adoration

You smiled, pulling her in to whisper in her ear, "Me too."

She chuckles, moving lips back down yours and kissing you again

Before she knew it, she heard someone whistle behind her, along with shouts from other people

"Oooo look at Momo and Y/N" Jeongyeon said, quickly receiving a slug on the shoulder from Jihyo

Momo pulled away embarrassed, hiding her blushing face into your neck

You giggled, wrapping your arms around her waist and rubbing her back

"I take it those are your friends?" You said teasingly

Momo mumbled, "Yes... Unfortunately."

You kissed the top of her head and moved her in front of her so could look at her better

"Oh I'm sure they aren't that bad..."

"Hey lovebirds, I don't want to ruin the moment, but we have a war we need to go fight in. Momo, get your ass over here!" Jihyo said loudly

Momo rolls her eyes, and groans in annoyance, yelling back "Coming!"

She turns her head back towards you and smiles, bringing you in for a bone-crushing hug

"Momo... I can't breathe."

She quickly lets go, "Oh my gosh I'm sorry...I can't help it."

"I know."

You smile, pulling her in for one last kiss, then having to pull away since she was in a hurry

"I'll write to you every day Y/N. I love you... so very much."

"I love you too Momo."

Her heart melts as she hears that, feeling her life long dream come true

She smiles, heading back on the horse and waving goodbye to you once again

She couldn't wait to come back and smother you with kisses

Domestic Life

When she leaves for months at a time, she writes you a letter every single day

So when the messenger comes by to deliver mail, he'll have multiple letters waiting for you

She is so good at writing too it kind of surprises you a little bit

Even though she's not there with you during those months, those letters make you feel like she's standing right next to you, telling you about her day and how she's feeling throughout each and every day

When she gets home from the war she will be super clingy 24/7

Which is kind of how she is anyways, so you're pretty used to it lol

Will tell you an endless amount of funny and intense stories that will just make you stare at her in awe, wondering how she's so amazing

During her normal home life away from samurai duties, she loves to spend as time with you as possible

She loves to cook for you, help you do chores around the house, and even do laundry

Whatever you need help with, she will always lend a hand so you don't have to do it all on your own

You guys will go on dates at least once a week to try to get out of the house once in a while lol

She always lets you be the one to pick the restaurant

(she's such a gentlewoman)

If it’s a place that she dislikes, she would never say anything about it

Will train at home every now and then

Not all time though since she prefers a perfect balance between her love life and her Samurai duties

After coming back from war, you two decided to get married right away

You knew dating was only a waste of time since you knew each other well, and how good of a partner you guys would be to each other

(As in, it's not uncommon for me to see fan things that mainly focus on post crisis/pre flashpoint stuff but still incorporate new comic aspects, such as slightly changed family dynamics/new developments, and it's interesting for me to find out what different people think is and isn't worth keeping from what got added after the reboot)

i was going to say i haven't read that many n52 and onwards runs, and then i realized i have actually read most of the ones i want to, i just haven't read any batman/'tec/batgirl/or duke's runs yet. (i read like...half of We Are Robin, Joker War, and i've read batman from where zdarsky come in so like have also read Gotham War.) (might read Catwoman?? not the point.)

since we're sticking strictly to net positives, i'll include something that i like, even if i have criticisms of it, but i won't get into those criticisms so we can stay positive!! (future cue, so this is kind of a lie but i swear i didn't go overboard.) i'm going to include stuff as minor as like costumes bc why not. also nothing is going to be in order of like what i like the most to what i like the least, just fyi. also, probs not definitive, knowing me i will forget something lmao

New52 Era-

tim's red robin costume. that suit is *chef's kiss* imo. i love that he has wings. i...i don't know if i necessarily want it back rn bc i am sososososo in love with his current robin costume, but i do adore the n52 red robin suit

i personally like that they went ahead and made jason less villain, more anti-hero. i think him trying to reintegrate with the batfam creates some very compelling crises

dick as Agent 37!! which...okay, no criticisms nvm. michael janin's art tho >>> okay well actually maybe sometimes i wish this was like elseworlds/black label instead of mainline but

might be a bit of a reach, but i really enjoy the first handful of arcs in n52 b&r and the relationship dynamic they established for bruce and dami

i like that tim and jason are somewhat friendly. i think it makes sense. for a lot of reasons. this is a somewhat controversial opinion, which i understand. but this is where i stand

I just finished the Kyubei arc in Gintama and honestly? This was incredibly advanced for its time.

No seriously, imagine telling teenage boys (Shonen jumps target audience) "love is love" and "who cares abt gender" way back in 2007?

Now, there are definetly some things that haven't aged well in the show (erm... the Zura cross dressing episode) but despite that, in these "arcs" the anime is surprisingly positive abt gncs.

Like, in both times, it's clear the message portrayed is "Who cares about gender and how you present yourself? Just be a good person" and "Don't feel ashamed by yourself and others"

Ik people might think that Kyubei seems like the classic trope "girl who was forced to be a boy and then just became a normal girl after conflict" but I was surprised by how they didn't do that.

They let them become the Secret Third Thing and it's so nice to see. This might have disappointed ppl who were expecting them to be transmasc, but I think the gender fuckery is good on it's own.

No seriously. When Gintoki and Shinpachi say "An attraction that goes beyond gender you say, I don't give a damn, fool" I was like, scared they were going to say something homo/transphobic but surprisingly Gintoki followed up with "anyone who makes their partner cry is a jerk!" Which is so??? This episode is so good, and this is the exactly the point of it.

Kyubei wasn't wrong for not being a boy or girl. Kyubei and wasn't wrong for being afab and falling in love with a woman. The reason Kyubei was wrong was because they put their feelings above hers.

And- to seal it off with a golden key, they let Kyubei and Tae reconcilliate, instead of giving them a cruel fate like most authors do with queer characters 😭

This is why people say Gintama is peak anime, cause frankly, it really is.

(Also bonus: on this arcs ending, all male characters are shown barechested, and Kyubei is included in that (with bandages like a binder)! It's cool how the anime staff decided to respect the character like that.)

Update: (this post was originally from april 18, it is not may 6). I watched the next episode that Kyubei appears in and as you could probably guess, I am quite disappointed 😑. Boy that sure was a downgrade. Like yeah I get Gintama makes a lot of "men are gross" jokes and this is a product of its time, but the last arc was so good this was kinda upsetting :/ oh well.

Hiii so uhh- 2003 Karai doesn't actually have a confirmed age. However, when you look at how Karai behaves in the 2003 series, I feel like it's clear that she is an adult.

From how she acts, from how she speaks, how she is addressed as mistress Karai, from the fact that she got together with an adult man, how she was I believe also addressed as a woman and typically woman means like an adult female most of the time and also her appearance. Overall, she seems a lot more mature compared to the turtles who I mean, are obviously teenagers.

I haven't seen the series in a while but, from the stuff I remember, yeah. I feel like it's clear that Karai is an adult.

His heart went out to them. He swung closer and landed at their railing, his mask on. He waved hi to them, and they jumped in surprise, turning to look at him. Then they saw the mask and smiled.

"Hey there, spidey." They said, and Miles smiled back, feeling something in his chest that he couldn't quite figure out.

They talked talked all night, and Miles left with a newfound sense of understanding and connection with them. He later found out their name was (name), and they remained close for years to come.

Q #1: why the gloves and hat?

They're a way for him to visually distinguish himself from the other alters. It's part of his identity and being his own person, you know? (in the comics: he's got a fake mustache that he wears along with the hat and gloves)

Q #2: why is Jake a cab driver / limo driver?

He's supposed to be a man of the people! It's not just a thing about getting info. He's always been the one that's closest to the streets. Jake's the guy that cares about the people that aren't cared about (in comics: he's shown mostly against violence, but there's a few runs where he's depicted as an 'evil' alter ((which is a horrible stereotype for folk with DID))) but yeah. I hope he's not shown as a straight to violent guy if there's a season two

In the comics, he's been there since Marc was a kid! There isn't an exact age that he showed up with, but I've always gone with the body being 12/13 <3

The fic I wrote of my au, had Garrett be in the placement of Micheala(the whole "plum hair" I gave him, etc etc. visiting the kingdom of the Aftons) & Banica(Gluttony side/the main part for Garrett). And in Evillious Chronicles lore, Allen (I bet) got that "love at first sight" stuff.

The base for Cassidy in Yard Fire is Allen/Nemesis (Vanessa is small half of Rillian & very much more Nemesis).

So, yeah. Ik bit weird. But ages are 👍 (Cassidy is like round 15 or smth. Same with Garrett. Evillious Chronicles has Rillian be QUEEN at 14. So like. Yeah).

If he is ever remembered by his father, he's more like a servant then a son. Which he got used to. So seeing his father being accused and then fucking BITTEN, by like. Another boy his age, HIS AGE.

Garreth about to rule his family kingdom, but his wish that he wanted to fulfill was to destroy evil by all means(and I mean that: he is like. In his Banica era- so. Yeag 👍💥).

It's not rlly like..a love at first sight or a crush now that I'm thinking of it. It's more like. Admiration, and wanting to be like Garreth yk?

He does also like. Plan the execution when William gets well (Cassidy is mad about it. Hoped his father got sick. Never Happened. He Angy). But it doesn't really happen as intended??? Garreth gets lured into the kingdom again, and just gets. Slaughtered/stabbed like Ceaser.

And then when Mike gets word of it, it's already days later of the "execution" (William still calls that an execution) of his brother (-figure. Just thought I'd say, that in Yard Fire; Mike & Garrett are related but very much see each other as siblings.. Abby was 1 when this was happening). And Vanessa already ran away, with Cassidy also running away(he ran away the moment he just did what he did. Vanessa was already planning to leave and decided to do it at the same time Garreth died so that was suspicious to Mike).

One post I did say, was on how when Mike first meets Vanessa he tries to kill her..but yk. She lives another day; cuz Mike saw himself in her. A lonely girl, with no one else (or so they thought. Cassidy is trying to find Vanessa. But like. Kinda short story; he gets mistaken for a bear (by a delusional person) when he was so close to reaching the Schmidts & Simmons (Vanessa)'s house. But. Yeah- bro gets mistaken for a bear and then just fucking. Killed)

Chapter 1 - Unfortunate Encounter

Summer. People my age love this season, the season of sunscreen and beach towels, skate parks and holiday break... but me, Sidney (Sid) Wright hate it. And it just so happens on the summer I bump into Spencer Fisher.

I spend most of my summers at home. As one does, though usually reading. Reading whatever I brought with me to my parents beach house during the summer, usually something by Alice Oseman. Alice is my favorite author, she portrays teenagers in a way that is so accurate yet still so whimsically.

I decided to go out for some iced coffee at my usual cafe and I can read some more there. So, I go over to my wardrobe and throw on my usual outfit. A simple white t-shirt, a light blue short sleeved button up, and beige cargo shorts. I slip on my vans checkered slip-ons, grab my phone, headphones, and wallet from my bed side table then make my way downstairs and out the house.

Luckily the cafe is only a short walk away from my house so I sigh in relief and I can save some time bearing the hot breeze of summer as I walk. Then, a familiar voice calls.

"Oy!! Sidney!!"

God, I hate when people call me that. My parents are hippie activists who believe in names having no assigned gender, I don't really care that they are but why did they have to name their kid Sidney? It doesn't suit me one bit. So I tell people to call me Sid.

"Erm... hello??"

I responded, feathery and softly. In which he responded, inching closer to me by the minute in a familiar animated and crisp tone.

"Sidney!! mate, I haven't seen you all summer! where have you been?!"

And there he was. The guy I dreaded to see all summer, Spencer Fisher. With his fluffy black tuffs, teal or was it blue? heavily braced teeth, and droopy but yet still obviously cheerful hazel eyes. Spencer is not at all a bad person, he's actually quite well-liked at school and studious. But, he's just too overly energetic and peppy. He's nothing like me, people describe me as this quiet and mediocre guy that you might see in the hallways of school probably listening to some underground band from the 70's or whatever. But Spencer Fisher IS the Heather of Conan Gray's song Heather. He is everything I'm not. So I don't really get why he always tries to talk to me at school... and at this moment. I sigh heavily,

"Uh... at home..? where else would you expect me to be?"

"Ah I see! I don't know, at the library??" he chuckles to himself, "so where you headed, Siddy?"

Siddy. Siddy? God, can this guy get anymore annoying? I don't understand why he hangs out with me but I just have to endure it, I don't wanna seem rude.

"Oh... um... Coffee Roasterie."

His face light up, smiling widely and he cheers,

"No way... really!? I am too!! can I come along?"

Great. Just fantastic. You have got to be joking me, I just wanted to get my latte and finish this chapter of Radio Silence by Alice Oseman and I can enjoy the rest of my afternoon.

"Okay, not like I have a choice do I?"

He snickers, "Nope! so, what you up to these days mate?"

He's one of those lads at school where he calls everyone mate, plays some type of sport, and all the girls and guys are obsessed with him.

"I... uh..."

I don't know what to answer. What if he calls me some sort of loser for just being at home all summer? I mean he never has but you'll never know from someone like Spencer. He waits patiently as I finally answer,

"You know... just some reading... a bit of blogging... and stuff... and... yeah."

There was a pause. It lasted a bit too long for my liking but the silence was quickly filled when he adds,

"Ah! I see, gosh I'm jealous! you have it so laid-back. Though, we all have our own private hobbies don't we? Personally for me, I've been having training. Swimming! I mean..."

Swimming? I have never heard of him being interested in swimming but before I could ask, we arrived at the cafe. We walked in and went over to the line as he continues,

"Yeah I swim back stroke, I usually have land training when I'm not in the water on the weekends, week days after school is usually swim practice. I'll admit, it gives the worse body aches and chlorine scented hair but pretty fun to be honest."

He talks a lot. Spencer Fisher is known for his chatterbox, he's also known for his lisp. He tends to bite his tongue when he pronounces the letter s because of his braces. I've heard him talk about how he hated his braces and to be honest, I wasn't sure whether to agree with him or not but nonetheless he's always smiling.

"Oh I see, that's pretty cool actually, wouldn't expect that from you."

"You're a man of few words huh, sid? gives me the urge to tell you a secret but I'm not sure whether I should or not."

Is he saying I don't have any friends to tell them too or is he implying I'm too quiet or timid to tell anyone? because either way, I don't like it.

"Well... it's on you, I don't... really have anyone to tell it to."

"Seriously?! well here goes!"

He leans in close to my ear, his hot breath hitting the tip of my ear and he puts his hand over to my ear to direct his voice to my ear as he says,

"Actually, I'm really into-"

But before he could get a word in that actually made context, the cashier clears her throat implying for us to order. Interrupting us, thank god. But part of me wonders... what is he into? He flinches and darts his eyes towards her direction as he puts his hand down and says,

"Oh! sorry, I'll have an iced caramel macchiato! and you, sid?"

"Just an Iced chai latte please."

The cashier nods, saying

"Okay, that will be 9.99 please."

Spencer nods and he grabs his wallet from his pockets as I do too, but before I could pay for mine he already handed it to the cashier as he says clearly,

"Sid. We'll get going now, thanks."

Which catches me by surprise since he used my name for both of our drinks. But, before I could get a word in He shoots a look at me saying,

"Come on, let's not hold up the line! let's go find a table!"

And just like that, I found myself hanging out with Spencer Fisher at my usual cafe on a saturday summer afternoon. I thought to myself, what could possibly go wrong?

I love when they're in love and stupid about it and the way you wrote all of them was perfect. I needed more so I looked through your account and yeah I had no idea you wrote you are the cherry on my apple pie. I read that one months ago when I was getting into the fandom and it's one of my favorite long fic!! Ah, I'm really happy to receive this- I spent too much time chasing the a plot bunny for It Started with a Letter and I'm very pleased w/how it came out. I really enjoyed writing Zero specifically. As for Apple pie... I am embarrassed that I haven't updated it in so long. I didn't have many chances to write during the school year, and after that I was so burnt out it took ages for me to write again. Then I spent a lot of July writing a short story for a competition that btw I can't post anywhere until after the results come out in October. I would like to write fic more often but unfortunately, I have... other obligations (including the classes I signed up for summer.) I did start work on the next chapter of apple pie which (spoilers) includes Zero but I got this really good idea for a one-shot and *had* to chase it when work on that was slow. A lot of excuses ik, but I did want to put down clearly why I wasn't working on Cherry Pie, and that I hadn't abandoned it. It would make me feel guilty but honestly, comments on the fic would motivate me to actually work on it :skull:

sorry i just saw ur post abt singing voices + T and like , yeah !! i think it really doesn’t help that right now the ppl most vocal abt sharing transitions are at most 1.5 yrs in, when yeah ur shits all over the place. i been on T for 4 years now n i have my full range back - all my old high notes + extra low ones. ik the internet is bad for this but ppl really need to seek out info from sources which aren’t just the most visible, post-pandemic transes lol

I honestly think most of the fearmongering comes from TERFs and some of that rhetoric seeps into our community by targeting isolated, angry, afraid transmascs & exacerbating transmed/truscum ideology. I also think a lot of it has to do with projecting personal insecurities onto the whole community. Like... I have this theory that a lot of the usual fearmongering (ruining your voice, warnings of body hair & baldness as if they're bad things, becoming smelly etc), when it's not being pushed by TERFs, comes from transmascs who already had pre-existing self esteem issues that they're having trouble working through even after going on HRT.

I mean, in addition to just regular dysphoria that a lot of people feel, I think there's a lot of focus on appearance and youth in some cultures (certainly in the mainstream culture surrounding me) - especially if you were raised with the expectations of femininity on your shoulders. People are afraid of being undesirable and ruined, but the real fix for this is to be kinder to ourselves and understand that aging happens (balding, thicker body hair, wrinkles all a possibility) and attractiveness is subjective. Like, I think bald chubby hairy men are sexy as hell, but that's not the narrative that gets pushed in the mainstream. Unfortunately, a lot of folks seem to internalize their fears and convince themselves that the fearmongering talking points are real, falsely attributing those talking points to their own experience with T. Essentially, blaming the hormone for their dissatisfaction instead of examining their personal insecurities & doubts & the culture surrounding them and how that might change their self-perception and their perception about what it means to medically transition.

It's a nuanced thing. It comes from all sides, but I try not to blame our own too harshly, as I consider them victims of anti-trans and body-negative propaganda. I simply encourage everyone to not conflate personal body concerns with the reality of what it means to take T. I don't recommend starting T unless you're ready to accept all the changes that could come with it. And I don't recommend getting your information about HRT from just any old chucklefuck -- see what people who have been on the hormone for an extended period of time have to say about it.

And, to your point, I think it's so important for people newly on T to practice patience and not speak as experts on the full process when they haven't gone through it yet. It can be hard especially if you're younger and you've been told (INACCURATELY) that transitioning is something that needs to happen on a specific timeline. But I'm (a little over) 1 and a half years in and I know that I'm still coming into my beautiful "new" body. I've talked to enough long term T users that I have faith my voice will settle and I can retrain my singing just like any other skill. As well as other concerns I might have if I was convinced things happen quicker than they're actually going to.

Anyway, sorry to go off! It's just what I do haha

tl;dr: don't trust any old rando on the internet for HRT advice (especially if there's no way to confirm they're actually trans people & not just terfs pretending to be trans under the anonymity of the internet). Be kinder to your body no matter how it changes.

No, not here. This is the blurb. I'm going to be honest; I made this account because my friend wanted to send me memes and I lost the password to my old one. Life has been kind of hellish lately, and I'm not doing well with this particular round of grief. I haven't been able to make myself read lately, or even get out of bed. Today however, I saw a post by the author of this book on Instagram and suddenly I was allowed to read but only this book (which is kicking my ass given that almost 50% of the books I own are TBR). But I read the book and once again felt that feeling of finishing a good book and just thinking, gods fucking dammit I wish I could experience this book for the first time again. Then again, I love that feeling of security of knowing there is a happy ending waiting for me when I'm at my lowest.

REVIEW TIME. Alright so to be honest I had no idea this was a Kylo/Rey fanfic the first time I read the book. In hindsight, yeah it makes sense and is so much funnier with that knowledge in mind without detracting from the characters. Common tropes seen in this book are fake-dating, teacher/student (but not in the usual way). age gap (without it being creepy), and along with all of the lovely mini tropes within. Unfortunately, whilst there was a sharing room bit there is (spoiler) no one bed bit. Cry about it. I genuinely enjoyed the pacing and lightheartedness of the novel, while still being able to incorporate important topics. It focuses on a grad student who is struggling to maintain her confidence in drive in a male dominated field (as STEM fields tend to be) while still absolutely taking ass and kicking names. Olive (the mc) is one of the most genuinely relatable and endearing character I've gotten to read a romcom through, and that's feeling I've had with all of what Ali Hazelwood has published so far. I honestly don't feel like finishing the rest of this review rn, but ik if I put it in drafts I will never post it, so feel free to ask questions I guess? Anyway. Read the book if you like romance without feeling like the mc is a total idiot outside of what it takes to get a plot rolling, and enjoy seeing a solid amount of representation in your books.
