This is my oc Sami who is the angel of death Samael. Samael is sometimes attributed to being the serpent in the garden of Eden in some Jewish thought. In my ocverse Sami in one of her lives had a child named Adam. Sami is a satan, a harvester, a harbinger of death, but she is also a mother, a guide into a calm death, and a bringer of justice. I think often times the serpent is judged too harshly, like satans and angels of death. She takes on a heavy duty that is integral to balance. I think her being trans is integral to that too. In many cultures trans folks had an important duty to the community, but now much of that history is lost and trans folks are judged upon too harshly despite the continued integral roles we play for our communities.

I think a lot of the motherhood between drag queens and trans femmes and how important our mother-child relationships are in a world that has often cut us off from our biological families. I think of how it was Eve who took the first bite.
