Buddie Royalty AU… kinda

Idea: instead of a presidency, America has a monarchy, and Helena and Ramon Diaz have just stepped down as king and queen following King Ramon’s heart attack. Eddie reluctantly takes the throne at his parents’ behest, though they seem to be constantly hovering over his shoulders, waiting for him to mess up. Unfortunately, they’ve also talked him into this silly… competition? No, everyone was calling it The Choosing.

Eddie was to pick from the women candidates ages 25-35 his new wife and new mother of his son Christopher. Each candidate was to bring just one friend or family member along for support during the following weeks when he would choose the best woman for the job.

Just barely securing a spot through her parents’ signing her up against her will… Maddie Buckley, three years’ widowed after she killed her abusive ex in self-defense. Contractually obligated to see it through, Maddie chooses Buck as her person.

The thing is: Maddie doesn’t want to win.

The thing is: Eddie doesn’t want a woman.

The thing is: Buck loves kids and maybe really likes this one’s dad.

The thing is: Prince Christopher loves his new friend Bucky.

Enter Eddie and Buck falling in love at perhaps the worst time, Chris making a new best friend, political schemers trying to end the Diaz dynasty, Isabel Diaz trying to help her son and grandson find true happiness, Ramon and Helena being a pain per usual, and Head-Advisor-to-the-Throne Athena Grant-Nash being utterly fed up with everyone’s bullshit.

Some story beats:

- Chim is the on-staff head emergency medic. Once he, Maddie, and Buck meet, he sneaks them into some of the more restricted sections like the library or staff gym

- Buck meets Chris in the library after Christopher ditches his new tutor (Mrs. Flores?). They become quick friends, but, since Chris has been kept almost entirely out of the public eye, Buck doesn’t know who Chris is for a while

- Buck and Eddie meet by accident in the palace. They try to stay away from each other for very obvious reasons but are drawn to each other like magnets and form a clandestine relationship with a fast-approaching deadline

- Helena and Ramon are trying to lead The Choosing so Eddie will pick an appropriate woman to be his queen, like lovely Miss Marisol

- Eddie throws out most of his old advising team and restaffs with people he trusts, promoting Athena to Head Advisor since he knows she isn’t under his parents’ thumb and is damn good at her job

- Eddie hates the throne and Chris does too, but he doesn’t see a way out until Chris is accidentally poisoned when the political dissenters were trying to kill Eddie. Buck catches it quick enough from his firefighting work and ensures Chris gets an epipen in time

- Eddie decides it’s the final straw and he’s choosing this family he’s made with Buck once and for all, so he calls a press conference after talking with Athena and announces her as regent in his place

- Eddie steps down with Chris and goes to live with Buck as civilians. Maybe he takes on a dispatch role to support Buck without anyone seeing his face. Chris goes to real school and thrives socially. Buck proposes only a few months later :)

Alright as someone who finally watched the first three seasons of 911, and has read so many fanfics and consumed so many takes…

There are exactly three main characters that are actually good people.

Athena, Buck and Chris. (May, Carla, Eddies extended family (no parents) a few random side characters as well)

Literally everyone else sucks ass for so many reasons. “Oh but found family” ew honestly if some members of my bio family did some of that to me (and they did) I would have dropped them immediately. If found family did that? That’s not family that’s a bad person who took my trust and love and put it in a shredder.

I know what happens later on and it just go progressively down hill. The way Buck is treated for narrative reasons is bullshit, just… the hypocrisy throughout this show makes me hate it

So yeah, I’ll not be in this fandom, honestly HOUSE MD was less toxic then this “found family” shit

after this last episode, part of me still thinks bobby may be alive, but i’ve also come to accept that not even him coming back could fix the mess this show has become.

i just couldn’t help but notice how season 8b in particular has been about giving fans the opposite of what they want, and it makes me scared for the direction the show is going towards.

fans want buddie? we get a bunch of scenes to bait us keep us entertained but it all leads nowhere in the end. and if 8x16 was a way to tell people “move on bobby’s dead” im afraid of what 8x11 meant.

ravi main? now that eddie is away, ravi is back but he was initially supposed to die instead of bobby. so the original plan was to bring him back just to kill him.

hen getting some spotlight? she gets an episode about everyone forgetting her birthday.

and what about chimney? he’s only relevant when something tragic happens to the ones closest to him (first maddie getting kidnapped and now bobby dying).

ok then, what about eddie? gets shipped off to texas with a bunch of shit happening off screen and all of his scenes revolve around chris, buck or both.

more scenes about 118 and their bond like the various dinners and parties? we get a halloween party just for them to put denny through hell. it’s as if everything has to be dramatic, we can’t just have fun for too long.

everyone’s tired of bad characters getting redeemed? the writers saw that and thought “good! let’s bring back tommy, gerrard and bobby’s mom in the span of one season to shove them down people’s throats”.

fans grew to love the show’s whimsy and lack of realism? too bad bc the show runner decided to kill a character in the name of realism just to throw realism out of the window again the following episode.

fans also loved emergencies from earlier seasons like the tsunami, the bomber, the earthquake etc not bc of how big they were, but bc they directly involved the characters and had some sort of character development and butterfly effect that we got to see through the following episodes. but nope, somehow the writers think the bigger an emergency is the more we’re going to love it.

fans love the concept of found family? what’s that? bc the writers clearly don’t know what that means. it almost feels like they created the perfect found family without meaning to and have been trying to give every character their “real” families back in one way or another.

i’m definitely forgetting some stuff but i guess that’s the issue, there’s so much stuff they’ve been doing that goes against what fans want that it’s hard to keep track of it.

i understand showrunners not wanting to bend to their viewers’ will, but there’s a fine line between doing what you think is best while also keeping fans happy and getting so petty that you completely ignore your audience or even go against it, and i think that with this season, tim crossed that line.

even when we get what we want (may and ravi coming back, eddie and chris reuniting, athena and hen acting like the besties they used to be, bobby healing etc), we have to suffer for it.

My brain is being mean today, so would any of y'all be interested in an AU where I make Zeus even worse than usual?

I have this vision in my head of where when Athena is born, Zeus, upon remembering the prophecy about how she'll be be better and smarter than him and Metis combined, basically decides to make her into his own personal weapon so she'll never try to overthrow him.

He does this in secret so that his brothers and the rest of the council won't realize what he's doing and try to turn her against him. It ends up turning into a sleeper agent/winter soldier kind of situation, with Athena basically blacking out when he gives her certain orders.

Pallas's death is one of those orders.

More, including Apollo and Athena angst, under the cut!

And up until God Games it works really well for him, but when she defies him over Odysseus he reacts the way he does in most of my fics and gives her brain damage.

From there, because I love me some angst, he brings Apollo into the same kind of training, basically wanting him as his own personal healer and a way to get his weapon back to full health more quickly.

But pulling in Apollo turns out to be a massive mistake on Zeus's part, not that he realizes it at first, because Apollo is kind to Athena in a way that no one else on Olympus has ever been. He talks to her, heals her, treats her as her own person and not an extension of Zeus.

Athena latches onto him hard, the two of them becoming extremely close and protective of each other.

Zeus actually makes things worse for himself on that front by further isolating the two, basically setting them up in public to be seen as his favorite children and turning the rest of their siblings against them.

Eventually, several millennia later, Zeus gets so out of hand that even Poseidon, Hades, and Hestia(though not Hera) agree that he needs to be brought down. So they call a meeting with the rest of the Olympian Council to decide what to do.

Apollo and Athena are in attendance, but they're both extremely worried about what Zeus will do to them if these efforts to overthrow him fail and he finds out they were part of it.

Aphrodite ends up using her charmspeak on Athena at some point* and Apollo freaks the fuck out upon seeing Aphrodite make Athena 'Go Gray' as they call it.

*Not sure why yet.

Apollo shoves Aphrodite away from Athena and it breaks the charmspeak, waking Athena from her trance.

Athena then also freaks the fuck out, asking Apollo what she had done in a total panic because holes in her memory never mean anything good for anyone.

Apollo calms her down, tells her what happened in detail, then flashes them both out.

Chaos descends.

Apollo pops back in 10 minutes later to threaten Aphrodite into never doing that to Athena again.

And that's all I have so far, but I'm working on more

Found this thread about Medusa and 90% of the things states are completely and utterly false unsurprisingly but what really grinds my gears is the explanation for why Athena helped Perseus kill Medusa “it wasn’t explicitly written” YES IT FUCKING WAS SHE HELPED HIM BC HE WAS HER BROTHER AND SHE TOOK PITY ON HIS SITUATION AND DECIDED TO HELP HIM. I swear to god I had stop myself from asking this person that if Athena only used Perseus to end Medusa’s suffering (which she caused) and didn’t care about him then why tf did she make a constellation of him and his wife? Why tf did she put her on her shield instead of burying her?

Every time I see a post that is comparing Annabeth to someone else or is talking about Annabeth’s accomplishments I literally think nonononono because the antis always find those posts and feel safe enough in the comments to absolutely demolish her.

Like I’ve seen a video asking who would win Hermione or Annabeth and it was supposed to be a silly little comparison but the Annabeth hate in the comments was unwarranted.

They brought in Percy saying “Percy could beat them both” and that “annabeth deserves a wand up her ass” and it’s like??? They’ll be like “Hermione would end that blond bitch” why so much hate on that poor girl?? Also let’s be real they’d be friends!!
