How to credit GIFs

I know there are other posts around this hellsite of how to do this, but because @khaotunq made this amazing post, I wanted to remind some of you of how to include a GIF that credits the original post/creator even if the GIF does not appear in the GIF options.

Option #1:

Step #1 - If you know which GIF you want to use, find the post its from, and click the three little dots to bring up the menu. Click "Copy Link"

Now, in your own post, click the "GIF" button

Step #2 - When the next box appears, paste the link you just copied in it.

Step #3 - The GIF should appear, so click it, and it will insert the GIF with credit to the original post and creator.

HOWEVER, it will only insert the first GIF in the post, so if you want a different GIF in the post, you have to make a small change.

Option #2:

Step #1 - Do everything in Option #1. EVERYTHING! Now, once you have inserted the GIF into your post, it will be the first GIF in the original post as stated in Option #1.

Step #2 - Click the wheel at the top of your post

Step #3 - Once you do that a menu box will appear, and where it says "Text Editor," switch from "Rich text" to "HTML"

Step #4 - It might look scary now, but have no fear! Hit "Ctrl +F" to find what you need! Type "attribution" and it will locate the GIF for you.

Step #5 - After "attribution" is the GIF's link that you copied earlier in quotes. Look for it!

Step #6 - Now, in another window, go back to the original post with all the GIFs and find the GIF you want. Once you see it, right-click on the GIF, and when the menu pops up, select "Copy Image Link"

Step #7 - You will paste that new link into your post in the same spot the other link was within the quotes. In other words, replace the highlighted yellow part with the new link.

Step #8 - Click the little wheel at the top again and select "Rich text" to switch back to your normal viewing mode.

The new GIF will appear!

It seems overwhelming, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy peasy. And if you think this process is too time-consuming, remember that this is nothing compared to how much work GIF makers put into creating these GIFs for us.

Tumblr is actually very user-friendly with some practice, so do our community a favor and be friendly to the people who put in the effort.

Wouldn't it be funny if there wasn't really much of a difference to the random amount of skills the Stan twins have between Canon and Modernity genuinely because they're just that cracked?

Like, I've seen so many HCs about Ford being good at so many random things because of his interdimensional travels and I really agree! Thing is, I don't see that changing even with both my AUs. My timelord twins AU is understandable, and frankly you'd pick up loads of weird tricks after living as long as Doc(Ford) has been. But when I look over at my modernity AU the reason for Ford's skill chameleon is just "Holy shit HI STANLEY!"

Cuz imma be so fr, in the modernity AU- you leave Ford in a library nook hobbit hole with a stupid ton of books + ample food and water HE WILL BE FINE. He would honestly just stay there and be as happy as a clam. His introverted ass would love being left alone with his books and if he got bored enough you can bet he would sooner go out exploring the forest and journaling or trekking than wherever there's clusters of humans.

Stan on the other hand is literally the life of the party. Put him anywhere boring and suddenly context matters not everybody's going to have a hell of a time and go home happy. He's that guy who you can drop anywhere and I mean anywhere and this man will walk out having made at least one friend. They couldn't be even more polar opposites.

But they're polar opposites that are hilariously joined at the hip. Where one is the other usually follows.

So when Stan does nearly anything- Ford's usually dragged into it after enough teasing or goading(Stan's smart enough to know he doesn't want to destroy his mental trying to compete academically and it's generally just not his forte no matter how hard he tries but Ford is unfortunately too competitive for his own good).

Chances are unless Stanford's really into it, he's not as good as Stanley(i.e. most contact sports) but props he still tried and kept it up for a while until he just decided it really wasn't for him. Case and point judo which they started at 12, Stan has a black belt(1st degree, and it took him only 4.5 years) and Ford only ever got up to brown(took him 5 years) before calling quits.

Stanford is dense and his fight/danger sense is painfully nonexistent compared to his twin unless said blatant danger slaps him in the FACE.

I want to say the degree I have it for them in the AU borders OOC but honestly if Ford canonically had a situationship with a dream demon he didn't realize was dangerous despite the many warnings I FEEL LIKE THIS IS ACTUALLY THE BARE MINIMUM AU WISE.

Anyway, I have plans for the random things they can do or like entertaining but I'd love to see thoughts on my random shitpost at god knows what hour LMAO

I promise I'm working on the drawings for the blog but I really wanna ramble about the insanity swirling in my brain because of these guys.

ok so like ive mentioned before i think his characterization as very antisocial is like… a little too simplified? Like the way he socializes with the crew, especially post mutiny and Especially when Lovelace is around, is like? Weirdly normal? Like once hes back operating on the ship as normal, or even when they pull him out to do things while hes in gay idiot jail for mutiny crimes, he still tries to make conversation with eiffel and minkowski. It like office room table talk but he still makes conversation. It’s so weird. It’s like every once in a while he makes himself known again because he needs to be annoying and remind you that you didn’t get to kill him. Except thats not really his intention, hes just… operating under the status quo.

He knows he believes his actions arent Mistakes and he earnestly believes eventually people will see that if theyre smart enough so he just kind of keeps going. He doesn’t not know that everyone wants him dead, he just doesn’t really pay any attention to that. There’s better things to concern themselves with rather than the fact that he’s tried killing literally everyone on this ship. So sad who cares how was work today.

part of me attributes it to the reset process. Like. Hes obviously used to missions going wrong and having to start from the ground up, so he’s just doing that again, except this time there’s no dead crew, theyre all very alive, so it’s weirder how he seems to be reverting to the status quo when. Everyone knows that hes killed people before and has almost killed all of them before.

I think it’s funnier to make him a plague on the ship who will occasionally attempt casual conversation than defaulting to holing him away in his lab basically. Unfortunately his brand of socialization is more vaguely annoying than keeping to himself 24/7.

I know it’s not explicitly stated, but I feel like this passage implies that it’s Gideon/Kiriona? Or that was my interpretation. Can’t remember how it’s done in the audiobook.

Thanks!! I just did a post on it here, but the tl;dr is that I agree with you about the passage implying it was Kiriona. There is, however, room for doubt, and it could have been Aiglamene instead.

Oh all of that is absolutely real to me i just can't bring myself to actually play it. Despite my beef I do think it is hilarious that young cricket & master mantis emigrated from Rhythm Heaven World and i welcome that with open arms. (It's also kind of hard to ignore Cicada at this point LOL.) Similarly, while I don't think that Forthington is related to spitz like some others do, unlike dribblenspitz I do think that dog and that cat are gay married & filthy rich

Status

Well, needless to say, writing didn’t happen this weekend. Sorry y’all! Combo of being out of town yesterday, then yet more family business + sheer exhaustion knocking me flat today, fff.

In all honesty I think I’m just gonna have to play things by ear this month. I’d like to get back to writing soon! But at the moment, I’m barely even glancing at the dash most days. I’m still sorting out where various things can fit into my routine now that I’m trying not to let myself stare at my phone all day and night, hah.
