Something something about Zoe admitting that she used to lie to make a friend's and end up losing them because of it.
Where do I ever hear of it?
Oh, right! Lila!
Before Chameleon Lila is just simply a liar, even Adrien(?) reasoned maybe it's because she want to fit in.
Funny how Marinette end up antagonize her while welcoming Zoe heartily and the only difference between them is only one of them has a crush on Adrien. Guess which one that Marinette made enemies of?
I agree that Zoe's backstory is similar to Lila's canon story, but you haven't given a fair assessment of the differences in their introductory episodes. It's not even necessarily fair to call them the same character. Zoe's lying is presented as her acting different to try to fit in. She's not telling major lies about her life to make herself stand out. The worst we get is stuff like this:
Chloé: (closes the door) Since your father isn't here, you'll use mine! If you become my sister, of course. Rule number two: you need a minion. Where's yours? Zoé: Uhhh, I left them…in New York!
Which is still enough to understandably turn someone off to Zoe, but it doesn't make her a Lila clone. Let's look at why that is.
Lila's intro has her actively coming up with very extreme lies that aren't about fitting it. They're about making her stand out! She doesn't want to be part of the crowd. She wants to be worshiped. Here are some quotes from the start of Volpina to give the flavor of lies we see from Lila:
Rose: Can you believe Lila knows Prince Ali? She even flew in his private jet with him! Chloé: Why did Jagged Stone write a song about Lila when he could've written it about me? Nino: Lila knows all of the Hollywood directors. She promised she'd mention me to Steven Basielberg himself! Marinette: (rushes back to Alya's side) Lila? Alya: Yeah, she just started at our school! (points to Lila, who's on the second floor of the school with Adrien) She even gave me an exclusive interview for the Ladyblog, 'cause Ladybug saved her life once! Watch! (shows Marinette the video of Lila on her blog)
It's worth noting that this exchange makes Marinette feel jealous and threatened, but she doesn't hate Lila. She's just afraid that Adrien will fall for the cool new girl. This leads her to follow Lila and Adrien into the school library where we get this:
Lila: So you've got a little soft spot for the bug, huh? Adrien: Me? Oh, no! Not at all! (The book cart moves closer to them, but is unnoticed.) Lila: You know I actually happen to be very close friends with Ladybug. (Adrien and Marinette both gasp.) Adrien: Really?!
This is where Marinette's hatred comes from and it's justified. This scene would play the exact same way no matter who Lila was talking to. Someone is using Marinette's name to get close to people. That would upset most of us. We also get this moment at the end of that same scene:
Adrien:(gets an alert from his phone) I gotta go! I've got a lesson in 58 seconds. (Lila causes Adrien to drop his bag on the floor) Lila: So, the park? (pushes the superhero book on the floor away from Adrien's bag with her foot) Adrien: Uh sure! (runs out) Lila:(picks up the book) A vixen superheroine? Hmm, interesting... (leaves the library) Tikki: Marinette! Marinette: I know. I gotta talk to Adrien before he meets up with Lila in the park. He needs to know that she's a total thief.
Once again, Marinette's feelings are extremely justified. Lila stole Adrien's book and will go on to toss it in the trash, showing that she never meant to return it, probably to avoid the risk of him thinking that she took it. These are two incredibly negative things for someone to witness and they're basically Marinette's first impression of Lila! Meanwhile, this was Marinette and Zoe's first interaction:
Marinette: Sorry I got held up here! (bumps into Zoé) Sabine: Is everyone all right? Marinette: Sorry, sorry, sorry! Zoé: It's totally okay, but maybe I should be asking if you're okay. That was quite a fall!
Very different. Not enough to justify Marinette trusting Zoe, but Marinette's hatred of Chloe combined with this initial good first impression are arguably enough for Marinette to be willing to hear Zoe out and give her a chance to prove herself. It's easy to be rude to service workers and Zoe wasn't, so I can see why Marinette would believe that Zoe isn't a manipulative monster especially since Zoe does apologize and promise to explain herself pretty quickly after the scene where she's rude to Marinette and Co:
(Zoé, sitting at the end of Chloé's bed, gets a text message as Chloé continues to search for shoes. She sees it is a message from Marinette, and reads.) Marinette: (voiceover) I can tell something is keeping you from being yourself. If it's Chloé, we can talk about it tonight, if you want. You're still welcome to come to the Barge. (Zoé texts Marinette back.) Zoé: (internal voiceover as she types) Sorry. I'll explain tonight. (sends the message, Marinette's picture and name pops up as she does)
It would be better if Zoe instigated this text exchange, but I don't hate this scene. I just think it's rushed and that Marinette should come across as more cautious about Zoe after everything that happened at the end of the last season. Marinette's actions here and conviction about her initial judgement of Zoe would make a lot more sense if they came in an earlier season, but this is a formula show, so that's probably playing a part in the awkwardness. Marinette isn't allowed to become more guarded, I guess...
If we go back to looking at Volpina, we find a very different type of story. After Marinette's terrible first impression of Lila, she watches the aforementioned Ladyblog interview off screen and gains even more reasons for her to be justifiably pissed at Lila, further cementing that bad first impression:
Ladybug: (sarcastically) Well hey Lila! How's it going? Long time no see. I saw your interview on the Ladyblog, awesome job. (puts her foot on the bench between Lila and Adrien, and leans closer to Lila) Oh sure! I remember our instant connection when I saved your life and we've been really good friends ever since! Practically BFF's! Uh actually, when did I save your life again, Lila? I don't recall. Oh yes! Of course, now I remember. Never! And we're not friends either! (to Adrien) Miss Show-Off here was trying to impress you and everyone around her.
We learn here that Lila didn't just claim that she was saved by Ladybug, which is honestly a pretty minor lie. Instead, she's once again claiming that they're close friends! Take out the Adrien complication and Marinette would still quickly start to hate Lila because Lila is using her name left and right and that's not okay! It's also not a minor thing.
The show is a little unclear about how seriously society takes the Ladyblog, but it's serious enough for Alya to be treated as an authority who is invited on talk shows as we saw in Prime Queen
Nadja: Don't be bemused, it's just the news! Hi, I'm Nadja Chamack, and this is Side by Side. Today, I'm joined by Alya Césiare, who created the Ladyblog! Together, we'll be looking back over Cat Noir and Ladybug's greatest feats.
The Ladyblog is also the resource that Felix uses to research the miraculous. So it's fair to say that the Ladyblog is not an unknown news source. At the very least, it's being treated as a true authority on all things Ladybug and Alya is getting serious public attention, which means that Lila's little interview is probably going to be treated seriously by a significant portion of society since it's coming from the Ladyblog.
Ladybug would be well within her rights to have Alya publish a retraction. In fact, it's super weird that Ladybug didn't do that and is one of the many reasons why I hate Volpina. The episode completely justifies almost everything Marinette does and then tries to present her actions as being in the wrong by having Adrien chastise her:
Adrien:(to Lila, who is crying) So I guess you aren't the descendant of a superhero either? Ladybug: She's more like a super liar. Lila: How dare you?! Adrien: Wait! Lila! (Lila runs away) Hey, what was that all about? Uh, I mean, weren't you kinda harsh with her? Ladybug: I...I don't put up with lies, especially when they're about me. (yo-yos away)
Which does eventually lead to Ladybug apologizing to Lila:
Ladybug: I... totally overreacted and... never should've spoken to you like that. I'm sorry.
No you didn't overreact! Writers, why are you telling kids that it's wrong to confront people who are lying about you? How should the Lila problem have been addressed if confronting her is wrong? It's not like she stops lying after this or like the show treats her as a minor threat. She's literally the new main villain and her eventual outing to the class is way more dramatic than this, so how was Marinette in the wrong here? Why did the writers have Adrien chastise her?
I've seen people justify Adrien's reaction here as him viewing Lila like a gossip rag spreading lies. To be fair, that's a valid way to make his actions make sense. The best course of action for the lies in those things IS to ignore them because no one with a brain is going to treat a gossip rag as a credible source.
However, the Ladyblog is not treated like a gossip rag and Lila wasn't just spreading rumors for quick cash. She was actively manipulating Adrien and has claimed authority via a reputable news outlet. The appropriate response to that kind of misinformation IS a retraction. It IS appropriate for Ladybug to do something here. If anything, Ladybug was being quite tame! She had a mostly private confrontation with Lila and then let the matter died for some reason. If it were me, I'd be telling the world that I don't know this woman and to not believe a word she says!
If anyone should have learned a lesson in this episode, it's Adrien. He needed to learn the difference between gossip rag lies and lies that you actually need to address, which is frankly a good lesson for a sheltered teen celebrity to learn! It makes sense that he wouldn't know what to do here, but the show treats this as him being in the right and I hate it! Him guilting Ladybug into staying quiet is why Lila is able to maintain her power for 4 more seasons.
Alya could also stand to learn a lesson on checking her sources. It's not like she never runs into Ladybug. Just hold off on posting the interview for a few days.
Circling back to the original ask: if Lila was telling the kind of minor lies that we see from Zoe, then I'd agree that this was a case of hypocrisy, but that's not what we see. It's also why I never really bought the whole, "Lila is just tying to fit in" excuse. Those are not the sort of lies you tell if you're trying to fit in! They're way too extreme!
While I'm not a fan of Zoe's character, her initial lies match the story she tells about wanting to fit in. Lila, on the other hand, feels like someone with an agenda. What that agenda is I do not know, but she clearly has one and she's had it from day one. It's really not weird that Marinette came to hate Lila while she was willing to give Zoe a second chance. The characters were set up in a way where that is an understandable response for her character even if you remove Adrien from the equation.
There are many episodes that make Marinette look terrible. Neither of these make that list. The only questionable thing Marinette does is follow Adrien and Lila into a public library and listen in on their conversation. I'm not going to call that good behavior, but it's hard to be too critical when it's clearly only there because the writers needed Marinette to overhear the lies to kick off the rest of the episode. I personally would have just had Marinette be in the library already and accidentally overhear her alter ego's name, leading her to listen in, but that's not drastically different than what we actually got so it's hard for me to get too worked up over the writers going the dramatic route. That's what they always do. The show relies heavily on absurdity so it make sense for Marinette overhearing the conversation to be done in the most absurd way possible.

Hit me with your favorite 5Ds headcanons 👀
Okay so I’ve used/alluded to some of these in my fics already, but that’s just because I love them that much (also it was really hard deciding which are my favourite headcanons):
Crow swears the most out of the boys, but has an almost supernatural ability to completely shut his swearing off the second children are around (unless he’s really flustered)
Though I’ve kinda hinted at something like it before, Jack isn’t actually the worst cook at the Poppo Time. Bruno is. Because Jack knows what good food is supposed to taste like (having been a star duellist for a while and all) and can reasonably guess how to approximate those flavours—he just doesn’t cook because he doesn’t have the patience to learn any technique whatsoever (or clean up after himself when he’s done). Meanwhile, Bruno just can’t cook. Straight up. It’s not a matter of wanting or not wanting to, if you try tasking this man with anything more difficult than preparing cup ramen he will burn something. Guaranteed.
Bruno and Yusei don’t have the same mechanical skillset. Bruno is almost 100% specialised only to runners, and at that, he’s slightly better than Yusei. But Yusei’s advantage is that he knows how to fix almost everything else (provided it’s mechanical and/or electronic), too.
All three of the Satellite boys actually know how to sew a bit. Martha taught them how to mend their own clothes. The quality of their seams varies (Crow’s are the neatest because he got a lot of practice from mending his kids’ stuff, too), but they all know how to sew tears shut and mend holes.
Aki isn’t as good a gardener as one would believe with her plant theme. She likes gardening a great deal, but doesn’t have a lot of experience outside of house plants. So she could decently keep a garden alive, but would never be able to maintain something like, say, a bonsai collection or a bed of prize roses, despite her love for the activity.
I’ve written a whole post about this already, but I still adore it, so: Satellite natives, post reunion with the city, are the bane of brand phone store workers’ existence. They want everything fixed, not replaced, and trying to explain to them why that would be too complicated (whether contrived or not) usually results in them not paying a single cent and going something like “oh, forget it, I’ll just give it to the neighbour’s boy, he’ll take care of this”. This includes Yusei, who usually just ends up fixing his own stuff, and especially Crow, who has already nearly gotten in a fistfight with some tech company’s store manager upon hearing the supposed price of a repair/replacement on more than one occasion before. (He obviously just ends up handing his stuff over to Yusei, too, in the end.)
Maybe my favourite headcanon: As TCG fans know, the manga versions of the signer dragons were printed as the duel dragons. In-universe, I imagine the duel dragons were also printed—as commercial, publicly available retrains of the signer dragons, who are supposed to be one of a kind in canon. (I also use this headcanon to justify why the signers have support cards tailored specifically to their dragons—they were printed to go with the duel dragons in-universe, but allow usage with the original signer dragons as well.)
Rua/Leo isn’t actually that bad at school. He’s just not very disciplined when it comes to studying because he’d rather keep polishing up his deck.
Ruka/Luna owns several duel monsters plushies. Her favourite is, of course, her Kuribon plushie.
Carly is really good at clocking people’s vibes and figuring out their character quickly. The caveat is that this only works when she meets them face to face.

okay so first of all I want to say that I have absolutely no intention of starting any kind of fight and everyone is fully entitled to their own opinions.
and second of all let me comment on the state of things in fandom spaces that make me feel like that disclaimer was necessary before actually sharing my opinion
but I never really saw Theresa as evil or 100% selfish or anything? I do feel like she actually means well? we know she can see the future, but it's never really explicit how detailed it is and what she does and doesn't see? unless I missed that somewhere.
the way I thought about the whole logan and hobw thing was that she knew that there were only so many ways it was possible for Albion to survive, and she told logan this, but he reacted to the information by becoming the tyrant he did. so then you step up to tske his place, and you're faced with some of the same choices he is. kind of like she can see the different paths there are, and tries to steer people in a certain direction, but she can't force anyone to make a specific decision.
it's like 2 am for me so this might not be all that coherent but the whole thing boils down to this; I think Theresa does know shit about the future, but she doesn't know or forsee everything. so she tries to make certain things come to pass and to prevent others, but sometimes there are still outcomes she couldn't have predicted.
sidenote, which I think is also why she wants the spire, because then she can have greater control and accuracy in her visions
I didn't take this as you wanting to fight, but I do love a good discussion so thats why this reply is kind lengthy. You're also fully entitled to your own opinion on this but this is why I view Theresa the way I do.
So the thing is you are right in your last paragraph. Thats why she wants the spire, she all but says it to us in the see the future dlc, for her visions to be more accurate and have more of a reach.
That is an inherently selfish want though, as much as she tries to justify it, it wasn't a necessity. In order to get it she takes Luciens grief for his wife and child and twists it whispering to him to push him over the edge to be willing to do anything to get them back.
Then she goes and manipulates Rose into buying the music box so that she and sparrow get called to the castle. Rose is very realistic, she says that they could eat for a week, which would be monumental for them, and Theresa fires back with "and at the end of that week you won't be any closer to your dream of being in the castle." She uses Roses childish fantasies against her and it gets her killed.
In only two actions shes absolutely decimated Lucien as a person by taking advantage of his mental state at the lowest point in his life, and pushes Rose to her death by putting it in her head that this music box can change her life.
With Logan and by extension HOBW I do think its a bit more complicated. At that point she could see all the possibilities. She told Logan flat out that the darkness was coming to Albion, immediately after he watched al his men die by the Crawler. It makes him paranoid, and he goes down the tyrant path because he doesn't know what to do, and she isn't really helping him. Then with HOBW she over corrects and doesn't tell them anything, gives them not even the smallest bit of information about the darkness so that they focus all their feelings on Logan, and think hes just evil for no reason, then drops a bomb on them about the darkness. When the hobw is upset about that she tells them "I told you what you needed to know" or in the case you choose to execute Logan and HOBW upset about that she says "well that was your choice."
She is steering people in certain directions. The ones she deems correct with very little thought in how it effects them or what they would do without her input.
Theresas not evil, but she is selfish. She doesn't tell anything she thinks could harm her cause, she manipulates others for her own needs, and she justifys it by saying its fo the good of Albion. But Fable 2 wouldn't have gone the way it does without her initial inferences, and Fable 3 wouldn't have happened at all if she hadn't made the decision that she wanted the spire and that Albion needed it.

Honest to god, I will never ever ever understand the disproportionate amount of hate Nico gets for (checks notes)
1. Being shy (That obviously means that theyre acting like a kid /sarcasm)
2. Getting defended (They’re totally being babied and need to act their age because theyre being childish /sarcasm)
3. Attempting to kill someone who’s made their life a literal living hell (Ace was just projecting so its okay!! /sarcasm)
I’m definitely not saying they were right in their methods but the way people look at these two and somehow decide Ace is the one that has no faults is… So shocking to me, really genuinely… What happened to “Just because you have issues doesn’t mean you get to make it everyone else’s problem”??? The majority of takes I’ve seen regarding the situation are so abhorred… Especially when it comes to their neurodivergent-coding and Hu. Like. No they are not being babied because they have a friend. Do you want them to be shit on by everyone?? The one person that isn’t completely disregarding the fact that they’re being tormented is getting demonized for giving a shit, and the reason she’s doing it is because of her own insecurities!! I don’t understand why so many people have come to the conclusion that somehow Nico is worse than Ace because they took a drastic measure. They have repeatedly insisted that people would throw rocks at them and physically assault them because of their identity. Is it such a shocker that you would immediately resort to leaving a potentially dangerous situation?? Sure they weren’t right to do it, but saying that there were other ways to resolve it is disingenuous at best and outright ludicrous at worst. When has Ace ever been the type of person to listen to someone telling him to stop doing something? Never! And unless you want to suggest that Nico should lock themselves in their room and give up their ability to exist freely just because Ace can’t deal with his own problems, there’s literally no other solution. They can’t even tell anyone because nobody cares. Seriously. Teruko, Levi AND Rose were there when David and Ace effectively outed them and did nothing. I’m not saying they’re bad people, they had their reasons most likely, but do you really think that they would do anything. Genuinely. And plus, why would you want to stay in a place where someone has forcefully revealed something about you that you were demonized and assaulted for. Tell me. Why should Nico have to be the bigger person when Ace is causing all their problems because of his inability to regulate his emotions?? I can sympathize with Ace. An attempted murder is serious, and no amount of harsh treatment can justify it, but acting like it can’t explain it is just running on a blind desire to defend Ace. I see people say that they “hold both of them accountable,” only for them to list 10 paragraphs on Nico’s wrongdoings and giving Ace a: “Bullying is wrong but he had his reason.” What. Obviously he did, but so did Nico?? And the constant borderline ableism revolving around their personality and mannerisms is genuinely crazy. I see people regurgitating the same two quotes: “Nico is being babied!” or “Nico is an adult!” The first one isn’t even true and the second one is just stupid. Ace is an adult, why can’t he stop bullying people?? Somehow a loud, angry, bully is more “adult-like” than… a shy person? I just don’t understand it. And even if you want to say that you JUST hate them for that, let me ask you: WHERE ON EARTH IS ALL THE HATRED FOR XANDER???? HE TRIED TO KILL HIS CLOSEST FRIEND OF ALL PEOPLE. I apologize if this came off as hostile, I really don’t mean it in a hateful or angry way, I’m just confused and dumbfounded.
TL:DR: You guys should listen to J when she said they both suck, and not just Nico.
PS: I’m defending Nico, yes, but that doesn’t mean I excuse their actions. That is a different conversation entirely

Doctor Who, but Chronologically: 40
Okay, here we go boys: jumping ahead six years from Partition to 1953, the coronation of Queen Elizabeth Two, and wow, this episode hits extremely very differently when the last thing you watched was the Tale of the British Empire (Derogatory).
It's the Idiot's Lantern. At one point a character declares that even though they're losing the Empire, at least the coronation can still give us pride. Yikes.
Anyway, happily, we get Tennant and Rose, who have a lot of chemistry, but unfortunately this is a Mark Gatiss episode. Fortunately, it's edited by RTD, so it is much more interesting than it might have been. Unfortunately, it's still Gatiss trying to write a Spunky Woman, so inevitably, Rose has a shining moment of brilliance where she immediately spots that Evil TVs are stealing people's faces and wanders off to interview the guy responsible, only to be immediately imperilled and then absent for the rest of the episode, trapped inside a telly. Ah well. Could be worse, this could be Amy or River with Smith. Rose can at least pass the sexy lamp test. And doesn't get subjected to sentences like "Of course you're a psychopath, you're a woman."
So yeah, there's an alien that was executed, but rather than dying it made it into an electrical form and thence to 1950s televisions (this is not really explained.) It feeds on the electrical signals of human brains, which is pretty stupid, since it's inside TV sets which have a far higher voltage, but okay. It's planning to feed on the 20 million people who will watch the coronation, and thus have a body again. The Doctor thwarts it by... idk it's really unclear, just electrocuting it somehow in an extended scene that was way too thin on explanations to justify the number of "plot twists" it attempted. "Plot twist! Your wiring hasn't worked!" Okay but we are not electricians and this is fantasy electrical wiring, so this means nothing to us, Gatiss. Honestly though, as sci-fi plots go, it's... fine. Not amazing, but there are much worse.
The side plot revolves around one family - mum, dad, son and grandmother, except the grandmother is fed on and so doesn't have a face. In a series of very poorly acted and directed scenes, it is made painfully clear that the father is a violent domestic abuser, at one point promising to beat the gay out of his son. Nonetheless, in an absolutely baffling and utterly gross scene at the end, as his wife throws him out and he leaves in shame, Rose and the Doctor both tell the son that he nonetheless must forgive his abuser and make amends because "He's your dad." Rose even straight up says that not forgiving his abuser would make the son stupid. It is utterly, utterly unnecessary, and I am entirely baffled by what moral I was supposed to take away from it. I can only assume Gatiss was watching too much American telly when he wrote it? It's the sort of thing you see super commonly in American telly over here - "He's your dad! You have to forgive him, because he's your dad! Let's reconcile the strained father-son bond!" It's almost as common as a boxing episode, which American telly always has. Even Babylon 5 had a boxing episode. Even Leverage. They all do.
Anyway it's wank, and it takes what was otherwise a blandly inoffensive showing to Fuck Me What An Awful Episode.
Still no proper sign of why Rose is particularly special! I mean they have GREAT chemistry, but it's all in the acting, really, though it's increasingly clear that she's maybe the most people-focused of all of them (except Donna). Sigh. Maybe we'll get a non-Moffat/Gatiss Rose episode soon, and then we can finally know.
Meanwhile, shout out to the best actor of the whole episode: Cardiff, doing amazingly in it's starring role as Totally London, Honest. Funny story! I remember this episode being filmed, because my mate Emyr accidentally wandered into the street they used to film the street party, and had the surreal experience of going "Hang on... why are there flags? Why... is it the 50s? Am I in the 1950s? How has this happened? What's that box - oh it's the TARDIS I see what's happened."
(This has happened to me TWICE in St Ffagans and once in the Brangwyn Hall. Common South Walian experience.)
Ummm... no plot threads! I don't think. None resolved, none added. Well, that's about right for Gatiss.
“She” (an unknown person) is returning (perhaps River returned as Missy. Maybe Me? Maybe Clara???!)
There is something on Donna’s back
An entire planet, Pyrovilia, just… disappeared, somehow. (Maybe because the TARDIS is exploding??? Saturnine was also lost, and that WAS because of the TARDIS exploding. The lion man’s planet was also lost but he was a bit of a knob about it if I’m honest. The Thijarian planet was destroyed by some sort of impact)
Amy is maybe dead (she’s not)
The Doctor has been cubed (he’s out, but how?)
River is possibly blown up  (unless she’s Missy. Nope: she is definitely not blown up)
The TARDIS has blown up  (It’s fine now. Except it’s sort of melting now because it’s corrupted, but it’s fine again)
The universe appears to have ended  (the universe is back again)
The Doctor has employed(?) Nardole
(And Nardole was “reassembled???” Nardole had glass nipples and invisible hair?? WHAT THE FUCK IS HE)
There’s a vault in the TARDIS and it contains Missy but we don’t know why (sometimes she knocks for the bants)
There’s an immortal Viking girl now. Her name is Me and she’s now looking after the people the Doctor abandons
Why was Rory entirely unconcerned by the entire world suddenly going silent when that is Not Normal and should have been, at the very least, extremely disconcerting?
What did the Doctor do to Queen Lizzie One?
Why is Amy seeing a one-eyed woman in a vanishing window? (She’s with the Silents, but we don’t know why Amy saw her)
Why is Amy’s pregnancy inconclusive? (Maybe because the baby had Time Lord DNA?)
Who is Sarah-Jane Smith?
How is the Doctor Bill’s teacher and why/where does he have an office?
What is going on with the Cyber War and the Cyberium???
What happened with the Other Cyber War?
What happened with the Third War that deleted the void?
Why does Rose seem particularly important?
What order do these Doctors go in? (Eccleston, Tennant, uncertain, Smith, Capaldi, Whittaker)
Which companion just… forgot the Doctor, and how?
Yaz and Vinder are about to die as Mori/Mwri/Muuri
There is a Lupari shield around Earth.
What’s a Time War?
What’s the Rift?
What’s Bad Wolf?
In which war did the Doctor become a war criminal, and how?
Who is the Master?
Why has Amy forgotten Rory? How did she forget a Dalek invasion?
Is Rory plastic or not?
Why is the Doctor sulking on a cloud?
How exactly does the Doctor have a cloud?
What exactly happened with Strax to, uh, tame him?
Which friend killed Strax?
Which friend brought Strax back?
Where did this lesbian lizard and human couple come from?
What happened with Clara as Souffle Girl and the Daleks?
How does Clara actually join?
Why so many Claras?
Why is Missy apparently in robo-heaven?
Why is probably!Missy pushing Clara and the Doctor together?
What is Trensilor and what happened there?
Who is Handles?
The Doctor is about to be dissolved by a beautiful geode man
The universe is being crushed by the Flux
Will the Doctor open the fobwatch?
Sontarans are invading Earth again
Who is Kate?
Who is Osgood? Another name of Clara’s again?
The fuck is the deal with the Grand Serpent
Does Martha get to go to an ice cream planet with 12-fingered massage aliens?
How did the Doctor forget Clara?
Who is Bill’s puddle girlfriend Heather?
How did Nardole die?
When does Bill get Cyberman-ed and die?
When does the Doctor shrink and enter a Dalek called Rusty?
Whittaker is falling to her death rn
Was that ring relevant?
Does anyone know the Doctor’s name?
When did Yaz talk to Dan about fancying the Doctor?
When did Dan talk to the Doctor about fancying Yaz?
What’s happening with the bees?
What happened with Donna’s ex and a giant spider?
What war wiped out the Daleks, and is it one of the ones already mentioned?
What did the Doctor mean when he said “The (Daleks) always live, while I lose everything?”
If Dalek Caan is the last Dalek left why are there more now?
How did the rest of the Time Lords die?
How and why did Amy melt?
What’s the question that will make silence fall?
Why do the Silents… want silence to fall?
How and why are Silents at war with the Doctor when he… hasn’t even heard of them?
How does Hitler get out of the cupboard?
What’s the significance of fish fingers and custard?
Why does the Doctor feel guilt about Rose, Martha and Donna?
What happened with the space whale?
When does Rory defend Amy for 2000 years?
How does the Doctor survive River
How does he erase himself from history
Did Captain Jack lose his memories to the same people as the Doctor? What did he lose?
When did the Doctor send the Daleks into a void to save the universe?
What’s with the weird crack in the wall and is it affecting memories?
Why do Amy and Rory think the Doctor is dead?
Is Matt Smith’s Doctor a tree racist?

IM SCREAMING, THEY SAW RUBY COMMIT MAGICAL SUICIDE AND JUST WENT ON THEIR MERRY WAY. WHAT IS WITH THIS SHOW AND REFUSING TO SHOW CHARACTERS EXPERIENCING EMOTIONAL REACTIONS TO THINGS HELP. The only emotions we get are Ruby's little fit and Jaune's paper thin depiction of PTSD. I'm gonna scream!
I think I'm in shock about it? I cannot stress enough that while I was prepared for the mess of Ruby's suicide attempt getting framed by the narrative in a positive light (this leads them to the way out, she gets some new ability, etc.) I still thought the GROUP would react appropriately. They just watched Ruby have a complete meltdown, she's already fainted once this Volume due to grief over Penny, they now understand the "hints" of depression Ruby has been displaying the last 24 hours (like her avoiding Crescent Rose), she runs away from them, is caught by Neo, gets the shit kicked out of her, and then looks them in the eye while drinking the Permanently Changes You And Erases Your Memories Tea while a fake Roman waxes on about how the world would be better off without her.
...and they're all just okay with that?
I was fully expecting Yang to go on a Super Saiyan rampage. I was prepared to write about how it's too little, too late now that Yang has revealed her supposedly-always-there love for Ruby after ignoring herfor most of the Volume. Regardless of how badly she's treated her little sister this season, it was oh-so-obvious to me that Yang was going to break, be inconsolable, go feral in an attempt to hunt down the Cat/Neo for revenge. I was expecting to see a frantic Blake and a near catatonic Weiss, horrified that she just lost someone else after her entire Kingdom was destroyed. I was waiting for Jaune's furious and annoyingly justified "I told you so!" after the Cat revealed their true colors and the tree - which he's said was evil this whole time - dragged Ruby away after she rolls over, 'dead' from its leaves that Neo gave her in an attempt to kill her.
Side note: for anyone who is seriously trying to argue that this wasn't a suicide attempt, if you consider nothing else, consider Neo. She does not want Ruby to be cured of her depression, or get a power-up, or take the supposedly magical medicine that will help her work through her problems. Why in the world would Neo give Ruby something harmless, let alone beneficial? Neo wants her dead. She gave her the tea to destroy Ruby once and for all and, when Ruby drank it, Neo believed she'd succeeded, becoming hollow as a result. She would not have been capable of being possessed if she believed that Ruby would survive and her revenge was incomplete. The whole reason the Cat was able to get to her was because Neo thought Ruby was gone for good and even the Cat themselves is surprised to find Ruby in the cocoon. Ruby, meanwhile, is drinking to escape the horrors of her own life that she can no longer face. That was a murder attempt turned suicide attempt.
Tumblr media
So we've got [gestures] all of this and instead of reacting with anything like human emotions Blake is smiling as she tells Yang that this is a great thing for Ruby and Weiss is pulling a Volume 8 Yang by announcing that their mistakes don't matter because they were brave about it and Jaune is staring at these gem strangers that don't know him anymore right after watching the Cat horrifically possess Neo and announces that they were right about the tree? Seriously why is the surprise villain of the Volume positioned as the morally trustworthy source? Even Ironwood wasn't granted that.
Forget Ever After, I feel like I've fallen into a parallel universe. Not to be ~dramatic~ about it, but am I being pranked? Did someone sneak a RWBY parody onto Crunchyroll? Is RT pulling a Rebecca Welton and trying to tank their own show due to some personal grudge? I am legitimately trying to understand how we went from this
Tumblr media
to this?
Tumblr media
(Also, friendly reminder that the screenshot of Ruby is right after Little was murdered. I mean, I don't care about them and clearly Ruby herself should be the concern, but I just want to point out that no one acknowledges Little either. An ally has just been killed, brutally crushed during Ruby's torture session, so how do the characters react to this? They don't. They leave Little's body there and don't even mention them. Look at Yang's massive grin, Blake's satisfied smile, Weiss' (possibly romantic?) hug. Their leader just attempted suicide and a coded-as-a-child friend was just murdered... and this is how they're acting in the immediate aftermath.)
(Second friendly reminder that the group was already not reacting to the entirety of the Atlas fiasco and in the wake of the last three episodes I find myself frequently forgetting that. Yang thinking she'd died, Blake thinking she'd died, Weiss losing her entire Kingdom, not knowing which of her family members made it out, Salem getting two Relics, Jaune and Weiss still not revealing that he killed Penny... none of it is being dealt with and that was before we threw 'The group ignores Ruby trying to die' into the mix.')

Gale Reviews: ML Season 5 episode 21 Confrontation
Spoilers below
-Ohhh okay, starting out with the drama bomb
-So for those that forgot (Like me) Gabriel is sending adrien to London for Private school. And Adrien cant fill out the orientation form because of it
-Plagg... My boy. No cheese jokes.
-So all the students are stressed about the meeting
-Oh so Marinette also got the guilt that now that Lila is the class rep there will be some fishy business.
-Yea the jobs are what I would expect for Nino and Alya
-Ivan out here showing himself to be loyal af. All other men need to step up their game. Mylene showing ambition.
-Juleka wants to be a mortician. Sticking to your asthetic, but didnt she want to model? Or was it just to help her get out of her shell. Meh
-Sabrina wants to be a nurse,
-Yea, Marinette's worries are justified
-Chloé and Lila having Opposite goals, one doesnt care because she is rich, Lila basically wants to "Resolve everything" but thats a lie
-Adrienette cuteness!
-Adrien, you are going to have to tell her eventually
-You can screen shot this and write "Moments before a disaster" and it would be accurate
-And they are shredding them. Im not even surprised
-"In case of a problem, blame it on your predecessor." Its nice to know kids shows are accurately explaining politics to children for once.
-"Its gonna hurt people?" THATS 90% OF THE S*** CHLOÉ HAS YOU DO! NOW YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT?
-Also Sabrina being a whistle blower is TOO on the nose, even for this show.
-Principal damocles is going to find out about the resistance! Wait, is he cool with it? He actually covered for them. I guess being a hero has helped you be less of a jerk... BUT I still am not cool with the BS from episode 14. You are on VERY thin ICE Owl man
-The class wants to go to the same school together, thats sweet
-Oh, that call must have been Sabrina. But we will see
-Oh right, Adrien still hasnt filled out his form
-Welp now he did
-But now I believe this is where all the pennies drop
-Why is there a just a random ass toilet trailer? Is that really the only bathroom in the school?
-Adrien exhibiting true AND KEN behavior.
-Lila once again proving that all the adults in this show are idiots. Bustier does seem at least a little bit suspect tho
-It is interesting to see how the teachers are. Bustier is suspect of it since she knows her students, Damocles is being his best to be supportive and Mendelev doesnt give a f***
-Juleka already repeated a year, thus confirming Luka and her as twins via the retcon
-Cue the reactions
-Juleka is gonna get akumatized...
-Monarch must have a guy that writes all of these speeches for him to speak before he does this.
-Yea I know Rose was trying, but yea. If I was repeating a year. I would NOT be in a mode to try and be positive.
-And she gets Roarr
-WHY IS ALWAYS REFLEKTA THO?
-Bustier realize she let this happen
-Lucky charm is tape.
-"You cant touch the bakers, I love their croissants to much" and their daughter. You forgot that last part chat noir
-SO THATS WHAT HAPPENS IF TWO FALCON PUNCHES COLLIDE?
-Wait... thats it? That barely lasted 2 minutes. and the episode isnt over.
-Monarch thinks there will be more akuma soon. I see
-Chloé and Lila really pulling this crap
-Oh they remember how Sabrina can forge handwritings and thus Marinette isnt going to get in trouble. And Chloé throws her under the bus
-Lila and Chloé really didnt expect Sabrina to turn Whistle blower on them. Chloé I get, because Sabrina has been loyal dog for years and the writing for her has Chloé have the mental capacity of a parsnip since season 4.
-Okay Lila that was well played lie right there. That is A tier gaslighting.
-I will give this scene credit, Lila is absolutely HORRIFYING. I can see the next season's main villain already. Since I assume Gabriel is probably dying this season.
-Chloé out here being a dumbass
-Sabrina you sly dog, you got her Monologue-ing
-Sabrina I put you as the least favorite classmate after episode 14, but now I gotta retcon that. Sure it was messed up what you helped chloé with. But that absolute MASTERY of playing Lila. Just, Chef's kiss. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
-Sabrina and Marinette's plan worked. Also, Mr.Damocles was okay with that?
-Ah so none this matters. Because Andre is also being whipped.
-Damocles looking like he cant take the bulls*** anymore and Monarch ready to capitalize on it
-The magic reacts to emotion, which means... IF the person is strong enough emotionally to resist it. Then the charm has a purpose
-Lila just straight up left.
-CHAT NOIR! But he is making it worse
-JULEKA! This moment probably will not have as much impact as it does in any other dub. French dub superiority
-OOOO it makes a shield that purifies the mega akuma. Neat
-Monarch crying like a bitch
-Damocles finally standing up to Andre. Good on him
-Damocles going out like a G.
-Chat noir telling ladybug what happened and her having to act like she didnt know
-Bustier calling Chloé in.
-"You cant expell me." "Nah bitch, thats a problem for you." is how I saw that exchange
-LILA WAS WEARING A WIG! I KNEW SHE WAS A FAKE B****
-HER NAME IS CERISE?
______________________________________________________
WELL that was a lot.
So i think part of me really likes this episode, but also doesnt.
I like that Lila finally got exposed and Damocles got his redemption for his failures of the past. Going out like a G.
But all this stuff with Lila having ANOTHER life. Thats just nuts.
so overally 7/10
I will do a review of Collusion tomorrow

notes from others to myself: 2022 edition
don’t always show your true feelings. use humour. makes things less awkward sometimes.
your heart is not a home for cowards.
so what if you gave parts of you away to these people? you’ve been giving parts of you away since that first friend you made in kindergarten but your essence is not finite so it’s okay.
itna load mat le. don’t stress about this/overthink.
don’t split infinitives when you write.
you can’t let your past experiences lower your standards.
sometimes you have to view problem solving in binary. if you can solve a problem, great. solve it and it no longer exists. if you can’t solve it and there’s nothing you can do about it then stressing about it is of no use either.
you’re so warm. you’ll make friends wherever you go.
using a metal whisk helps lighten hickeys/love bites quickly.
you can’t just keep collecting these days, one-off days, with people and justify that it’s okay because these days are beautiful. because in the long-term it leaves you with nothing. nothing but pain.
stop now. stop looking for that connection with people. maybe you already have it with those in your life and you’re just not investing in it. either way, stop.
habits are the compound interest of self-improvement (atomic habits)
assuming people have your best interest at heart and seeing the world from rose-tinted glasses - that cannot be your starting point; that cannot be your default.
it’s okay if your starting point is - people are assholes. but it has to be people are assholes and I accept that, I am okay with that. I’ll see the good in people when it shows up. but if your starting point is people are assholes and that’s not okay, it’s not helpful.
it's okay to make mistakes. everyone does that. even if you know that you're making a mistake when you’re making it. but once you've done it and you face the consequences and you're like okay this isn't how I want to continue or how I thought it would be...it's alright.
when you ask someone to not judge you or something that you are saying, you are, in a way, insulting them by asking them to not use their sensibilities.
you may desire and deserve the love of men and others but not their shit. look at yourself and everything that you have been through in the last 25 years. everything you've dealt with. everything you've survived. and then you'll know that you deserve better. and anybody who doesn’t see that doesn’t need to be a part of your life.
every science begins as philosophy and ends as art.
any man who makes you feel so horrible about yourself doesn't deserve to be in your life. no matter what a good guy he might otherwise be or what he may have done for you in the past.
it’s like we have this extension chord when it comes to our emotions. when we feel something for a man, no matter how many “buts” no matter how impossible a future together is, our emotional extension chord keeps going on. think our scissors are rusty. we need to fix those rusty scissors and cut the chord off in time, cut our losses like they do.
you have the softest skin. I was afraid to even hold you because touching you tightly left marks on your body. I cannot forget your skin. or how you kissed. yours were the softest kisses.
just write a horrible book. all you have to do is write a horrible book. when you say that to yourself during the writing process, you take off the pressure of having to write something good and just write. and for a first draft, that’s the only thing you need - write.
you need to stop underestimating yourself and letting idiots in. you are beautiful, smart, kind, and funny. these adjectives may seem common but a person being all these things? you? rare. why don’t you see that? the moment a person is treating you like shit, you should be like “bhenchod, there is the door. get out.”
the people who do such childish, immature things are actually the ones who are really messed up. they are the ones hurting on the inside and they don’t even know it so that can translate into behaviour that is petty, insensitive, and dense towards others. don’t get mad at them, don’t take it personally.
retract your claws.
decide what you want - micro term, short term, long term, or life long - with the person. because all four are very different things.
the intensity of your reactions to present situations are simply the compounded impact of everything you have been through this year. and if you don’t hit pause and process what’s happened, you will reach a point where everything will be so jumbled up that you won’t be able to see anything clearly.
the two ends of a spectrum, though seem the opposite, often tend to have many similarities
yes, you are a demisexual but that doesn’t mean you can’t do casual. what you really want is quality of conversations and connections. that’s the way you are demisexual. not that you need something long-term to share something with someone or feel anything towards them. it’s about can you sit and have an interesting conversation with them and can the two of your get and respect each other? that’s what it is.

putting all my hateration under the cut 😌❤️
I love that ethan is just a Normal Guy but dear God would it have killed them to give him some semblance of a personality other than wanting to save his wife and daughter like yeah okay he loves his family and that's something but when you're spending two games with him it's actually a whole lot of nothing! The game overall was beautiful of course but my God it just felt like a dark fantasy game and that's great but I want to play resident evil and this was not a resident evil game and I don't care how hard 8 fans campaign for it to be seen as one, it will never fit into the franchise unless the next few games make a hard left turn into fantasy. And yeah you could say 4,5, and 6 aren't exactly horror games and you know what I would agree with you kind of, but they still are resident evil games. I just think everything they did in this game was so... it was such a wild departure from anything we had ever seen before and not in a good way. The only things connecting this game to the rest of the franchise were chris (who is only in 10% of the game and that's pushing it) and ethan and mia, and those 2 are brand spanking new to the franchise. It honestly feels like they wanted a testing ground for 4remake so they just worked backwards from that and then worked on the story and that's how we got this junk and boy do I mean fucking junk. There is no way you can look me in my eye and tell me vampire woman and metal powers man seriously feel like they belong in the franchise. I can work with moreau because he leans into horrific mutations and donna... is kind of a joke to me lol. The doll thing is creepy but again it feels like a fantasy thing and not Sci fi or horror (though there are some horrific aspects to the game.) AND ALSO DO THEY EVER EXPLAIN WHY EVERYONE HAS AMERICAN ACCENTS EVEN THOUGH THEYRE IN ROMANIA DID I MISS SOMETHING?!?!? anyways the whole retroactively putting miranda in the ozwell Spencer story is such a fucking joke to me. Why would they fuck around with an already fine story beat? Why? Just to justify miranda and it doesn't even work because she, like everything else, feels so out of place in the franchise. And the game itself? Like the gameplay? Was nothing special! I didn't care for it! The most interesting thing that happened was the bsaa using bioweapons and that came at the VERY END OF THE GAME!!!!!!! like... THAT is the story beat we will be following up on (I assume. I mean. Unless capcom wants to go batshit like they clearly did here) and we don't even know about it until the fucking end!!! And my God. Shadows of rose. Completely boring don't care don't care don't care they literally just did all that work just to tell us ethan is always with rose. That's it. It's not for us to understand rose. It's for ethan. And again I must ask, why on God's green earth is mia seemingly absent from her daughters life. Why. THAT is an interesting story beat I would have liked to see in SoR not this other half cocked bullshit. Also eveline so did not need to be here. It's not like rose ever actually gets to learn about her. She's just there to be a malicious force and it's only for like... 20 minutes at best. Anyways this was the dumbest re game I've played and I suspect it will be the dumbest out of the franchise. I literally could go my whole life ignoring this game and be happier for it. Also it should have been mias game that way we can see mias relationship with rose but fuck her I guess.

Note
I disagree with your notion that the team hates them, given the amount of rope candy Jade gets during that trio's only update so far, but I raise the fact that they don't hate them as a bigger problem. Cause its extremely easy to tell when someone hates something and what they wrote was out of spite. Especially with HS fans, who will make their hate known frame 1, and will not shut up about it. As evident by, no offense, the blunt name of this blog. But because it isn't malice, that means the failings of BC is due to genuine writing problems, which is leagues more frustrating. There is a sense of hope than can be betrayed, if ya get me.
Also I have something on the Calliopes and Vrissy, but I do not wish to dump all of that all at once.
But is it GOOD character development for Candy Jade to do all this? Plus, James Roach did say they were going treat Jade Harley better than what Andrew Hussie and the WhatPumpkin Team did. But all we have seen is Jade justifying her infidelity and getting flack for it. So it was a fucking lie that he and his crew would treat Jade better or with respect. Plus, the page about Alt Calliope still taking over Jade's body is still there. It's not retconned if it happened OFFSCREEN. Also, Vriska's redemption arc in Hell is suppose to LEGITIMIZE Candy's existence. So everything up until that point, including Rose and Jade's affair, will be justified and okay to keep both Vrissy and Yiffany's existence. Which means Kanaya is still screwed and Jade is able to get away with what she did and Dave did nothing wrong on leaving her. Even if they end up making it an OT3 polyamory relationship, the damage has been done that people were all sick of the drama that had been around since HS2 had started.
Tumblr media
Let's not forget that Hussie and James admitted that Homestuck 2's theme was spiting the audiences. James Roach had agreed in that philosophy when making HS2/Beyond Canon. It always has been a theme of spite since Epilogues. If it's suppose to be embracing and caring about the audience's feelings, then they should have wiped everything Andrew Hussie and WhatPumpkin did and do a HARDASS reboot. There is nothing to respect about the old team when most of the members there are full of shit and assholes. Calliope is the only character in both her regular living self and Alt Calliope, is not getting fucked over no matter what actions happen to her or around her. If it's suppose to be a meta commentary about how Calliope is like a Mary Sue since she was Shelby's OC, it's not too obvious to the Readers or meta narrative that she doesn't get as badly hurt compared to Jade and Kanaya. Calliope's arc of loneliness is said to have been over it by the time she met with Roxy and is the only person close to her. Nobody else gives a shit about Calliope. Not Karkat, not Dave, NOBODY but her lesbian bitch.

Rare Jaune Ships
Velvet:  The primary purpose people use her is either a breeding fetish, as part of a Faunus harem, or as a closet key for Coco.  Most fics forget that the only characterization we get out of her is that she’s a shy photographer.  Not saying don’t make spank fics about it, but she is a shy if kinky photographer.
Coco:  Coco is a right royal bitch, and should be primarily used as a way to teach her a lesson.  Luckily, this is what most fics focus on.
NDGO:  Primary useful for a quick way to bang a squad of teen idols.
Glynda:  The best for a transgressive power/exchange relationship, where Glynda learns it’s not always appropriate to be - proper.
Cinder:  A great way for a hate fuck / high-heel-face-turn.  This brings out incredibly raw emotions.
Neo:  While Cinder brings out a lot of raw emotions, both positive and negative, Neo is more about having a little goblin girlfriend who just needed hugs, (and frequent reminders that killing is bad).  RWBY Chibi has shown us that Neo is more than willing to use her powers for kinky purposes.
Emerald:  Emerald is a character who wasn’t really given a chance.  She had little characterization, until post-Haven, at which point she still had little characterization, just now being portrayed as a woobie.  She is great if you want to do a non-Cinder/Neo redemption arc.
Neon:  People only really use her to round out a Faunus harem, and that is pretty much the only good use for her.  Still mad at her for calling Yang a fat slut.
Sienna:  A right royal bitch.  Even more so than Coco, but unfortunately, most of the fics about her don’t punish her in turn.
Winter:  Seems to be a consolation-prize Schnee.  Good to punish Weiss and/or make her Jealous.  Would rather pair her with Ironwood.
Willow:  Diametrically opposed extremes of wholesome and kinky.  Extra points if it give the Schnee kids a proper father figure and/or brutally cucking Jacques.
Ilia:  The quickest redemption arc in Human history, because she’s a lesbian, and you can have lesbians do bad thing.  This said, I LOVE her with Jaune, to the point it’s become my favourite ship.  I just absolutely hate her in RWBY, because they try to put her on a bus by making her in charge fo the White Fang.  Leadership is not he strong suit, and she literally has no idea what she should be fighting for.  Okay, yes, they wanted to sink her ship with Blake to focus on Bumblebee, but maybe have someone else going through the same problems as she is?  Have them grow together for mutual support?
Kali:  The best part of the Black Sun fauxmance was Kali being a little baby crazy.  I find Sun a flat, boring character, but that doesn’t mean she’s not baby an/or blond(e) crazy.  She wants Grandkittens, damnit.
Raven:  Brush with your wild side.
Vernal:  They never met except in the middle of the battle, and didn’t actually meet.  You have to bend the story quite a bit to get them together.  But yeah, nothing wrong with a little teaching a lesbian another way.
May Zedong:  She is cute.  We know nothing about her.  Should be good, but I just can’t get over the fact she’s named after Mao Zedong.
Happy Huntresses:  I disavow and repudiate the Happy Huntresses, in their entirety.
Arslan:  I have no emotional connection whatsoever.
Summer:  Despite the fact she’s dead, doesn’t seem to cause any barrier.  No one even tries to justify it.  Jaune’s Aura control lets him touch ghosts.  See?  Easy.
Nora:  Nora would do ANYTHING Jaune told her to.  Anything.  Anywhere.  With anyone.  Luckily for her, Jaune is both jealous, and careful in deciding what/when/who to do.  That said, he sometimes has to get a little creative, as she’s REALLY energetic.
Ren:  The biggest problem with Nora’s Arc is what to do with Ren.  Turning him into a femboy concubine definitely solves that problem.
Whitley Schnee:  If anyone deserves to be forcefully feminized for the purpose of humiliation, it’s him.
Oscar:  I liked Rose Garden, briefly, and then have since become completely against it.  How dare he try to get between the glory that is Lancaster?  He needs to be punished for it.
PENNY:  Really interesting idea.  Except they never actually met before she was killed.  He did meet her reincarnation, only to be forced to kill her with his own hands.  Other than that, sure.
Ciel:  They have little to no chance to interact.  But, if she tagged long with a reincarnated PENNY, then fuck yeah.
Salem:  The FNDM have weirdly decide that Jaune is Salem’s heir.  Luckily, this has been kept out of most of the Jaune x Salem fics.  Someone needs to teach her the value of life and death, afterall.
Malachite Twins:  No reason to, but no reason no to, either.
Terra and Saphron Cotta-Arc:  The most boring characters introduced, with no one possibly being able to say anything against them, (like one of the more socially awkward ones asking where Adrian came from).  The FNDM then said, fuck this, if you give us boring characters, we’ll make them more interesting, and that was apparently Jaune being Adrian’s father.  Adding Saphron makes it even more interesting.
Momma Arc:  She wants grandbabies, even is that means she has to grease the wheels a bit.

Oh Dextixer, what have you been up to?
What HOPE at the end of the day is the protagonist keeping the fight on regardless of the odds, either to their heroic and expected death, or at a small but KNOWN chance of victory.
THAT is what separates hope from wish fulfillment.
... Jesus christ.
"The ending of Volume 9 proves that RWBY is not about hope or acceptance, it is about meritless wish fulfillment."
Okay so this is Dextixer's title and thus thesis statement. So in order for Dex to make a good argument in favor of this, he will need to follow the following:
1. Define 'hope' and 'wish fulfillment' to set the groundwork of his argument.
2. Review any information pertaining to RWBY that he is addressing.
3. Differentiate between 'hope' and 'wish fulfillment'.
4. Set the goals for what 'hope' in fiction and what constitutes 'wish fulfillment with merit'.
Ways to succeed here is:
*Use different series as examples of the concepts done right, going into accurate detail about how the goal is achieved there but not in RWBY.
*Explain why 'hope' does not fit in RWBY by explaining in accurate detail what is, how it is achieved and how RWBY fails.
Ways to fail:
*Not explaining in detail.
*Contradictory detials
*Failing to establish firm definitions for the terms used.
*Incompatible comparisons
*False Info being given
*Excluding context unfavorable to his position.
Understood? Very well.
Often have the topics of "consequences", of RWBY having "protagonist centered morality" and many other discussions surrounding team RWBY, and the plots inability to ever show them as being wrong. They might fail, but they are never wrong, and anyone who disagrees with them is instantly the enemy.
A lot of Fantasy stories at the end of the day are about hope. They are about the hero defeating a great evil and saving the day. This can take many forms, but unless a story truly aims for a tragedy or a more grimdark setting, hope always remains almost a constant companion to such stories.
Many fans of RWBY love to claim that RWBY is about hope, and admonish us critics for being "mean" or wanting a grimdark story. What these fans fail to realize however is something very simple...
The heroes fail, sometimes due to the enemy, sometimes due to their own failures, othertimes due to things that are outside their control. They can lose hope, and in fact, many stories traditionally have characters lose hope in their darkest hours . Only for it to be a set-up to some kind of an uplifting scene, or even an arc during which hope is restored.
What they are seeing is wish fulfillment.
And right away we have met two failure conditions.
The first is the failure to give firm definitions. Tell me, where in this section is a definition for 'hope' or 'wish fulfillment' given? Answer: no definition is given. This is important because it sets an understanding between Dex and the reader on the subject, which in turn gives the reader reason to trust him.
Second is false info given.
Ruby: This one. (stands before the case containing Crescent Rose) What happens… if I choose me?
Blacksmith: (reappears and kneels beside Ruby, placing a hand on her shoulder) Then maybe… that girl is enough.
The qualifier used is 'enough'. Not 'perfect'. Perfect gives the implication that Ruby is told she has done no wrong. Enough implies she is flawed but still good. Given the tone and message of the Volume, Dextixer failing to remember such an important detail implies that he has not paid enough attention to notice something so obvious, that he lacks the knowledge to see the difference or refuses to see a difference to justify his anger. All of which damages his reputation in the reader's eyes.
However, it is far more likely for the reader to assume the last of the three, given that he also potrays an opposition to the good guys in the show as being shown as morally wrong. And yet good guys like Qrow, Oscar, Yang and Ozpin do so and are never portrayed as enemies. Qrow and Ozpin are portrayed as flawed for their actions but also cone to be firmly on their side again, with Team RWBY expressing understanding and sympathy to Ozpin. And Oscar is shown as better than Ruby and Ozpin in Volumes 7 and 8. Thus implying Dex is ignoring context.
In the last episode of V9, after Ruby reaches her lowest point. What is she told? That she is perfect the way she is. That everyone fails at some point. Ordinarily that would not be a bad lesson. But the thing with failure is that while it is inevitable, if the failure is caused by ones own actions that means that a mmistake was made, that a person is NOT perfect.
Once more: Ruby is not ssid to be perfect, especially since 'enough' implies a standard that isn't fully fulfilled.
Ruby: This is my fight, too!
When in Volume 4, Ruby got Qrow stabbed by Tyrion by interfering in a fight that Qrow HIMSELF told her not to get into. Was she perfect? No. She made a mistake. But it was a mistake that came out of her selfish desire to play hero.
False info.
Ruby: No! But I won't stand by and watch someone get hurt!
Selfish by definition is something done without consideration of others. The act was done IN consideration of Qrow. While one could say Ruby is selfish for wanting to fight against Qrow's wishes- Qrow himself is fighting for Ruby who does not wish to be spectator. Therefore, Qrow is also being selfish, trying to play hero.
When in Volume 6 Ruby decided to steal an airship instead of doing literally anything else. Was that her being perfect? No. She made a mistake. A mistake that once again came out of a selfish desire, this time because she was told "No".
Incorrect. It has been both said and shown that the Lamp attracts Grimm, meaning that to stay in Argus longer than necessary is to endanger everyone living in Argus. Circumstances extend beyond 'No'.
This is excluding context unfavorable to Dex's position. A failure for the post because it calls everything Dex says without a source or citation into question since if he was willing to exclude important info once, what stops him from doing it again?
One could say he simply forgot. But given his tone and previous arguments- it's simply assuming the pattern persists.
When in Volume 7 Ruby is trusted completely and utterly and given anything she wished for, a license, training from pros, upgrades to weaponry, unconditional trust of plans of national security. Only to then go out of her way to hide information and eventually betray the person who gave it all to her? She made a mistake, all because she decided that she will save everyone, even if it might kill everyone.
Excluding context. And worse.
Ruby did not lie to James to save people, she did so out of a flaw.
Yang: (frowning) We're really not gonna tell Ironwood about what happened to Oz? What we learned about Jinn? About Salem?
Ruby: We are. (small sigh) We will. But you saw how things looked when we flew into Atlas.
-
Ozpin: I was recently reminded of an old fairy tale. A young girl flees the consequences of a choice, to a magical place. But, having never learned from her initial failure, she only succeeds in spreading it. I failed all of you. I should have trusted you with the truth and should never have run the day you discovered it. Yang: It was rough, but… Blake: I think after everything that’s happened here, we understand. Trust is.. Weiss: Trust is a risk. Ozpin: And I hope it’s a risk you can take on me again. Ruby silently nods her head at Ozpin.
Furthermore, this carries the implication that Ruby's mistake was unintentional on the writers' part. And yet the cited scebe above demonstrates Ruby acknowledging her mistake. Which also runs counter to Dex whole point in this section bu Dex's own words-
The first part of the wish fulfillment is that these things are not even acknowledged as mistakes. They are seen as "good" things, as "heroic" things, even by a lot of the fanbase.
That these are all not seen as mistakes. Which calls into question of why this scene exists and this dialogue is used, which are all used to communicate the idea of 'the heroes acknowledge their faults.' All while the far simpler answer of 'Dextixer is biased and wrong' is within reach. Perhaps previous well structured arguments, examples and groundwork would incline someone to give Dex the benefit of the doubt. But alas, that is not the case.
Revision and reconsideration could have fixed this, removing these arguments and making better ones with better grounding for audience goodwill. Remember to do so next time, everyone.
The second part of the wish fulfillment is the lack of consequences. At the end of V4, Qrow is perfectly okay. In Volume 7 her decision to steal an airship is just ignored. In Volume 8 Ironwood is turned into a full on cackling saturday morning cartoon villain, so there is absolutely no need to even think about Rubys actions in V7 or her betrayal.
Excluding context for all three.
Qrow's injury forced them into an unfavourable and quite possibly deadly position with the Nucklavee.
The stolen airship was acknowledged, just not as a mistake by James.
And Ruby quite clear DID reflect on her decision. Not only that, you claim that James is 'a cackling cartoon villain' but this implies that James acts out of gleeful malice when he is portrayed as instead desperate and growing insane. So it's false info given as well.
Such a rapid fire of mistakes after such a big one will certainly frustrate any readers. Especially since you failed to define what exactly 'wish fulfillment' in this case was. Perhaps I could find what you mean with a proper definition but without it- it appears that 'wish fulfillment' simply means 'bad thing.'
The ending of V9 takes the cake though. The end of V9 has us see Vacuo with ships of various makings in the air above it. Many RWBY fans cheered! Look, Ruby was right! Ruby sent the message to everyone and the entire Remnant is now united! Suck it critics who said that her plan was bad! SHE WON! Of course, these people fail to miss that they are cheering wish fulfillment. Back in V8 the plan to warn the kingdoms was first hatched by Ironwood, and eventually stopped by none other than the "neighborhood hero" Robyn. Did the fanbase praise Ironwoods idea? No. They instead praised Robyn for stopping it. Important part of it however was that once the message went out, it would create panic, thus Ironwood was planning to assist all of the states one by one to repel any Grimm incursions caused by such a message... Yet Ruby went with this plan anyways... And nothing bad happened. The narrative LITERALLY bent itself backwards to give Ruby a victory.
Excluding context.
Unseen male civilian: Take us to Atlas! Nora: Please, everyone. We're doing our best. We will get you to safety. Just give us a little more time! - Robyn: Atlas, Mantle. I know you're scared. I'm here with General Ironwood, and we have a message for you. - Robyn: What he has to say may sound unbelievable... but it is all true. - Ironwood: An ancient and terrible evil lies outside of our Kingdom. It was responsible for the destruction of Beacon, the attack on Haven, and for the recent attacks on Mantle. This powerful force goes by the name of Salem. Ruby: (grinning) He's doing it. - Ironwood: Salem seeks only to divide us. - Ironwood: To turn us against each other. If she can incite hatred in us, then we will lure in the Grimm and destroy ourselves. - Robyn: Salem herself does not work alone. Her minions have invaded our very city. - Ironwood: Arthur Watts and Tyrian Callows. - Cinder: (muttering) What? Ironwood: These men are the ones responsible for the recent murders in Mantle and for sabotaging the heating grid. - Ironwood: But we cannot let ourselves give in to fear and panic. That is what she wants! - Ironwood: Instead, we must unite, and fight back, together. Every single one of us! - Jaune: Alright, single file line! Place a hand on the shoulder in front of you, eyes forward, move, move, move! As he issue his commands, the citizens look back at him and then begin following his instructions. A pair of small children stand in front of Jaune, who kneels down and gives them a thumbs up and a grin. Jaune: Show them how it's done, kids! The child in a red coat salutes him. The two kids then turn on their heels, the kid in the red coat placing their hand on the other child's shoulder. They then begin marching with serious expressions on their faces
James already did this exact same thing before in Volume 7 and the same thing happened. Acting as though this comes out of nowhere when the same situation happened once before in the show is rather...odd.
Furthermore, the context behind people cheering on Robyn wasn't that she was stopping James' plan but rather that she was helping the people of Mantle by taking supplies for Amity to use for the hole in Mantle's wall. Due to the fact that James is a civil servant, it is his duty to have fixed the wall in the first place thus people cheered Robyn on for being a good example of a civil servant.
And also- it's quite telling that you do not actually debunk what is clearly a strawman but say that it is wish fulfillment, which you have used more for it's negative connotation than it's actual use. Though it's actual definition (that being 'the fulfillment of a desire') would apply to ALL fiction, making your use of it to stir negative emotions look manipulative. This is why defining the term would have helped: it would give the reader something definitive to look to instead of inferring through subtext and context.
The SAME exact thing happened back in V8. Rubys plan of evacuating Mantle had no end point! It was simply evacuate Mantle to Atlas and then... There was no other plan. And while Atlas was suffering and its soldiers dying, Ruby drank tea in a mansion. The whole point of Atlas leaving without Mantle was to avoid getting swarmed by Grimm, to leave BEFORE it is too late to leave.
Now tell me dear readers, let us say that Mantle is evacuated into Atlas. What then? The Grimm have ALREADY reached Atlas. Its too late. Congratulations, the plan results in EVERYONE dying.
But wait, it does not. Because at the last second a GOD ITEM is revealed to be able to just portal everyone out.
Excluding context, failure to give details AND false info.
You already stated Ruby's plan yourself- call for help. So you know this is false.
You fail to explain why Atlas could not simply drive the Grimm back just as James' had planned on, as you stated before.
And you falsely assert that Ruby was just drinking tea (she had also killed the Hound and was regrouping for a single night) as well as that the Staff is akin to a Deus Ex Machina (AKA 'God Item') even though it had been foreshadowed in Volume 7 at the latest.
Furthermore, you go into detail about why Ruby's 'plan' would not work and yet ignore how James' plan to raise Atlas would have ended with everyone in Mantle dying as well as Atlas given the lack of supplies due to the sudden decision from James. Rather disingenuous and not something a reader would excuse given the constant failures on your end.
That is not hope!
Hope is not the protagonist putting hundreds of thousands of people in danger with no plan to get them out of danger, only for the hand of the writers to come down and make them all survive.
Hope is not the protagonist taking reckless actions against their allies because they know that everyone will forgive them or that the allies will turn evil the next episode.
Hope is NOT the protagonists doing something that THE NARRATIVE says is impposible to do without consequences, only for those consequences to be deleted by the hand of the writer.
What HOPE at the end of the day is the protagonist keeping the fight on regardless of the odds, either to their heroic and expected death, or at a small but KNOWN chance of victory.
Team RWBY being able to do anything and everything because the writers will give them a victory regardless of anything is not hope. And it will never be.
False info, excluding context and failure to give proper defintions.
False info is stating that telling the world of Salem would result in 'consequence' even as the show demonstrated otherwise.
Excluding context in that the people were in danger from something other than the heroes and would have guranteed all their deaths if not for them.
To say nothing of how 'heroes do something reckless for their allies without consequence' is an incredibly common trope in media.
And also that nowhere in the defintion of 'hope' does it say that the hope must be based on death or possible victory. 'Hope' is simply 'the expectation and desire for something' so there is nothing excluding 'fighting against impossible odds' from this defintion. If anything, given that hope is based on the need to believe in victory over logical defeat, hope is embodied best IN against impossible odds. Fiction is certainly no stranger to this concept (see: Beyond The Impossible and especially Gurren Lagann, the trope namer and major influence to RWBY.)
Not only is Dex's failure to set up what he meant in the first place about 'hope' make this entire argument, effectively his summation, fall apart but it also breaks his premise. Because 'fulfilling hope' is, in all but name, 'wish fulfillment'. Hence why all fiction has some element OF 'wish fulfillment'.
To say nothing of how Dex's next sentence-
In case anyone has forgotten, Salem now controls the relic of creation.
Contradicts his final part in the section. After all, if Team RWBY can do anything and everything- why did they not simply take the Relics from Cinder and Salem?
A thing that could be used to create anything for the sake of destroying ANY army that Salems enemies could wield. Let me ask you all. Is it not logical that Salem could just create a meteor shower and just destroy any and all airships over Vacuo? She has a literal god item that the protagonist gave to her by opposing Ironwood.
Excluding context.
Oscar: We can't just wave it like a magic wand and make our problems go away. And we haven't even told you about... him.
Yang: Who?
Oscar's eyes glow as control of his body is switched to Ozpin.
Ozpin: The spirit in the Staff. Like Jinn, but, well, he's a character. He can build you anything, but only if you can explain to him how. Like any craftsman, he'll need blueprints. Some sort of reference. It'll help if we have real world examples to show him.
Salem would need blueprints and especially examples to get Ambrosius to build such a thing. And no, Cinder's use for 'fire' is not a contradiction: spark, ignition. Such a thing is as simple as wind moving. There is no indication that Salem is capable of such things and with Watts' dead- no one among her inner circle has the expertise to do such a thing.
But i can tell you for a fact that she will never use it. The failure of losing the staff will never matter. Team RWBY will win regardless of how sensible or logical it is. The writers will make up a reason for why the staff doesnt work, or for why Salem does not want to use it.
Not even an argument. Just an assumption. An unfounded one.
And when that happens, be ready for RWBY fans to tell us all how stupid we are.
@dextixer
You have had multiple chances to make an accurate or even standard point.
You have failed every time.
This is not a hard thing to do- I did so throughout this very post.
Simple research, revision and reflection would have greatly improved your post and perhaps given you a point. But any reader that is not looking for self confirmation will not consider you anything better than stupid by this point.
You cannot blame others for your own failings.

For me is fun to see the difference from italian fandom and international fandom.
First of all: there are no purity culture in italian fandom. We ship and we write anything, and I mean anything. Of course we have our own archive that has rules, so there are some limits, but with the rise of AO3 we all are more free. And of course I can only tell about my little bubble and my little experience, but... We create the repayement ship, for god's sake, my beloved OTP Severus Snape/Lily Luna Potter. In the international fandom I would be eaten (and in fact I had experience with haters that called me pedo because of it right here on tumblr and that was so fun to me!). Also other ships I read and go strong in my bubble that can be classified ad "problematic": Salazar Slytherin/Helena Rawenclaw, Albus Dumbledore/Tom Riddle, Gellert Grindelwald/Ariana Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald/Tom Riddle, Tom Riddle/Helena Rawenclaw-The Gray Lady (maybe we invented even this ship, my friend start posting about them and it was so good so much other italian fanwriter writed about them), Sirius Black/Hermione Granger, Sirius Black/Ginevra Weasley, Severus Snape/Ginevra Weasley (I skip about Snamione etc you all knew them), Teddy Lupin/Rose Weasley, James Sirius Potter/Rose Weasley, Harry Potter/Rose Weasley and maybe I forgot something 🤔 That are all ships I wrote about (and praised for) and NO ONE bat an eye for the TW implied in them. I read so much beautiful stories about this ships, you have no idea.
Also in the specific of the Marauders fandom and the Slytherin, the italian fandom is so far away from international fandom that I lost myself some times trying to keep track of the characters (wtf is Lorenzo now??? I mean I barely understand who Mattheo Riddle is - and only because that one fanwriter I know who mostly wrote about the marauder era choose to write a story about him for fun; also I laugh because in italian the correct name spelling is Matteo). And maybe I was fixed on the fic that my friend write because now I can ship only Regulus/Barty (and Regulus/Barty/Alex where Alex is an OC 😂); also no Pandora in Slytherin, no black Mary-Dorcas (not sure who is black here), no Bruce Mulciber (??? Also not black Mulciber) and in general always a different setting. There is no "standard" in the italian marauders era, everyone write his own character and put them all in different houses and give them different ages (for example I read quite some stories where Dorcas Meadowes is older or much older then James&co). And NO JEGULUS AT ALL. Everyone in Italy seems to hate Jegulus (at least in my bubble). Unfortunately some quite like wolfstar but... It is one of the older ships, not something born now like Jegulus. And also no Mary/Lily, Dorcas/the other one girl I don't remember, etc etc... But the most important thing DEATH EATHER STAY DEATH EATER SO NOBODY WANTS TO HAVE TO INTERACT WITH THEM. I read beautiful stories from DE pov and they stay in the DE side of the war. The author try to make you emphatize with them (so no justify their action because they think that they are right and you can feel that - and this is great writing you all, not a propaganda for the bad side nor pronazi or other garbage shits I read from the anti and the international fandom about this) but no one is redeemed or fall in love with the light or other bullshit. Lord, even the death of Regulus has more sense in the fic I read instead of the bullshit "He change side because he love his House Elf so he is good!!!" that I read here.
Okay this became a wall of text so I stop here BUT if you are biligual/etc can you share your experience about the difference from your homecountry fandom and the international one? I'm curios 😂

are you still gonna consume dteam content while taking a step back from the fandom or are you completely breaking with it? just out of interest
im gonna be honest, this is a really hard question to answer. im gonna drop a cut bc i’ll probably ramble for a moment.
okay so i think for dream specifically, i don’t think i could go back to consuming his content to the level i was before like, ever. i think this was a rude slap of the rose colored glasses off my face that i can just.. never reconcile with, at least for like.. many years. i think i could stand to see him around, i think i could look at smth he’s posted and see it as i see Any person on the internet but i think that Connection with him is personally severed. i think most of that is less what Happened and more his reaction. i think it was irresponsible at best, gross and manipulative at worst.
i unfollowed his accounts, his notifications are off, i just cant let myself be part of His community that allowed a situation like this to even happen in the first place yknow? especially the reaction from the twt community at large, i just cannot support that. it disgusted me and it still Does disgust me. i think he needs to either completely step back from his community or massively rework it to fix some of the glaring issues in it because the way it runs is not healthy or normal at all anymore and i only realized that truly once i stepped back myself. i think a big part of being in his fandom Is defending him, justified or not, and i just can’t look at the past two years and the past week and do that anymore. i cant.
i think for snf i still have an attachment to them, that unless something drastically changed (god forbid.) i think i will continue to consume them but more casually than i did before. they are, as always, tied to him and its delusional to think i could completely support them and be in their fandom without being tied into dreams fandom as well. so i think i will consume their content and whatever else they do, but i wont be engaging in the fandom aspect as i did before publicly. it just seems irresponsible for me and i stand by that still.
i’ve been in the mcyt / gaming creator scene for over a decade now and it would be silly of me to act like i haven’t watched creators who did bad things in the past or even were friends with ones who did (not to drag him but markiplier is my boy and his relationship with pdp Still weighs on me sometimes—and im a rtah watcher and have been for a long time, have you seen the shit thats come out abt them every couple years? yeah.)
the truth is we don’t know these people, they are people on our screens making entertainment and you can never truly know whats going on behind the scenes and as a single person i know my opinions will never change anything so it’s stupid for me to pretend i have some moral high ground for being aware of glaring issues when theres millions who will move on in ignorant bliss of anything going on with their faves, but were watching it just the same. and its always been this way, its just easier to see the problems now with the connection social media gives us.
tldr; yes i will to an extent, but that could change as things change and develop and id be a hypocrite to act as if i wasn’t going to.

something that confuses me about louis/i dont have a concrete conclusion on is the fact that he is so proud of his abstinence as a vampire and moralises it constantly but when he was human he was literally the most hedonistic mf. why do you think that is?
Okay this one took me a bit to get too bc the way Louis frames it in IWTV is so insane I would look at this passage and think "Am I stupid this makes no sense" but it actually doesn't:
My thirst rose in me like fever, and I followed him. My desire to die was constant, like a pure thought in the mind, devoid of emotion. Yet I needed to feed. I’ve indicated to you I would not then kill people. I moved along the rooftop in search of rats.”
“But why…you’ve said Lestat shouldn’t have made you start with people. Did you mean…do you mean for you it was an aesthetic choice, not a moral one?”
“Had you asked me then, I would have told you it was aesthetic, that I wished to understand death in stages. That the death of an animal yielded such pleasure and experience to me that I had only begun to understand it, and wished to save the experience of human death for my mature understanding. But it was moral. Because all aesthetic decisions are moral, really.”
“I don’t understand,” said the boy. “I thought aesthetic decisions could be completely immoral. What about the cliché of the artist who leaves his wife and children so he can paint? Or Nero playing the harp while Rome burned?”
“Both were moral decisions. Both served a higher good, in the mind of the artist. The conflict lies between the morals of the artist and the morals of society, not between aesthetics and morality. But often this isn’t understood; and here comes the waste, the tragedy. An artist, stealing paints from a store, for example, imagines himself to have made an inevitable but immoral decision, and then he sees himself as fallen from grace; what follows is despair and petty irresponsibility, as if morality were a great glass world which can be utterly shattered by one act. But this was not my great concern then. I did not know these things then. I believed I killed animals for aesthetic reasons only, and I hedged against the great moral question of whether or not by my very nature I was damned.
Louis abstains from killing people in the beginning because he thinks he derives such pleasure from it that it is something he shouldn't indulge in often. For him killing humans and drinking their blood is the bottle of champagne only opened on a special occasion, the perfume you only wear on fancy occasions, etc etc. The idea of luxury, to Louis, means that it is something you shouldn't have often, and thus he abstains from killing humans. He thinks he should eat rats and work his way up the scala naturae so that he tastes the difference between a rat and cat, or a cat and horse, and finally a horse and human.
Part of why he hates Lestat is bc he sees Lestat as naturally wasteful, he doesn't savor the finer things in life, bc Lestat is ravenous after so many years without. Lestat died starving. Lestat did not have the luxury of hoping for a better tomorrow at a lot of points in his life, because of his past Lestat lives perpetually in the now bc that is all he can guarantee. So Lestat does things like kill "important" people, or order champagne in their hotel room just to look at and never drink.
However, Louis eventually gives in to drinking from and killing humans. So to justify this he makes up a new moral code to fit his own deeds. He says anything that creates pleasure/beauty is good. This is blatantly not true when you consider to him pleasure is killing people. The example he gives, an artist stealing supplies, is so low stakes he must know he is warping the situation in his favor. Even right now, what immediately comes to mind is diamonds. Yes a large mined diamond is gorgeous, but when you know people and especially children mine them in slave like conditions, how can a small beauty ever be worth the cost of suffering?
So yeah Louis is aware he is a hypocrite, he had to come up with his own new morality to justify his actions. He's the millionaire justifying jetting everywhere with "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism"
I think both the movie and TV show have individual scenes that let you glimpse this but I would have loved to hear him say this convo with Daniel out loud bc it's so insane and it would have been fun to as a fandom tear him to shreds for it
