Ok so ao3 has fully convinced me Izzy is not dead at this point. Why you may ask. Let me enumerate.

1) Ed in the gravy basket. If Ed can survive a cannon ball to the head, Izzy can survive a shot to the gut. Izzy is a indestructible little fucker and he will dig himself out of that shallow ass dirt grave and scare the bejeezus out of Stede

2) Buttons sitting on his grave in seagull form. Buttons will screech his head off until someone comes and checks that shit out.

3) if Izzy does not emerge from this grave, he will show up as a fucking ghost giving wise advice and telling ppl to fuck off in stride

4) someone wrote a fic where the crew digs Izzy up and replaced him with a corpse (because yeah they’ve got those on hand) and bring Iz back to the ship to heal him and just yeah. Break that connection between Izzy and Ed, give Izzy a new start.

5) I also saw a fic where Izzy in ghost form talk to Al (trans masc Alma Bonnet) and did not know I would be so down for that but fuck yeah.

6) also at this point I am down to clown with Stede x Ed x Izzy. And man ppl are so talented at writing fanfic.

S2E1: "Fang, you've been here the longest"

I never really noticed this until now.

But this implies that Fang was there before Izzy. Unless Blackbeard wasn't directing the question at Izzy, and meant the longest out of that particular group.

I don't know, because my personal headcannon (don't know where I picked the idea up, just that it sort of floated around) was that Izzy and Ed met really early on - I guess I never considered Fang.

Anyways, inviting anyone's 2 cents here because I am genuinely curious about what you guys think

Hi I know that I dont post but I have an OFMD rant...

theres a lot of (younger) ofmd fans that are getting angry at the creators of the show because they "buried their gays" (in regards to Izzy Hands.) we all have a right to be sad and angry at his death! i love his character so much and im so upset but lets not use the term bury your gays for this show yeah?

Hes not the only (presumably) queer character, hes one of many. There are Plenty of gays, an abundance even, left. These younger fans did not grow up with queerbaiting like the older fans did (think supernatural, sherlock, animes like yuri on ice, killing eve, good omens even) and i dont think they understand the concept of bury your gays because now we're getting more shows that have explicitly queer characters whos characters don't center around their sexuality! (Wonderful) Usually bury your gays is a trope specifically used in shows that queerbait their characters and then MAYBE they come out and then they almost immediately die- or theyre out from the beginning and either they kill them off after season or they "leave" (a good obvious example is supernatural)

Anyway moral of the story i am sad that Izzy died he was my favorite character in the series but metaphorically speaking it made a lot of sense that the person most attached to Blackbeard died when Eddie finally started to live. Love you all ofmd fans ♥️

(A/N: I’m hoping this won’t seem too OOC for finale Blackbeard or Izzy. I’ve got another idea for a finale-based Izzy imagine, where the reader is left stranded with the crew; let me know if you’d like to see it (though I’ll likely write it anyway). [Insert obligatory begging for OFMD requests])

“Next!”

You shuddered at Ed’s harsh tone. 

As you stepped into Stede’s old cabin, you anxiously eyed Frenchie, who was yanked back by Fang. Your eyes widened when your gaze landed on Jim. 

Why were they lying unconscious on the floor? Would the same happen to you and Frenchie?

Everything had seemed so strange today, and no valid explanation had really been given. You hadn’t seen Lucius nor Ed all morning, you’d been ordered to dump all of Stede’s books into the sea and Izzy had been limping around with a toe missing. It was something you didn’t want to question in case you were right about something being amiss. After all, you quite liked your toes as they were.

“You wanted to see me, Captain?” you prompted, voice trembling as you finally locked eyes with Blackbeard. His icy, almost empty stare stood out against the black smeared across his face.

"Yes, Y/N,” he greeted casually, almost dismissively. He was polishing something you couldn’t quite see in the dim light of the room (you assumed it was a weapon). Your heart began to race. “You’re a mediocre pirate. You certainly don’t have the stomach for this life. I mean, you look like you’re about to shit yourself.”

He chuckled, as though he found your terror amusing. The laughter made him seem far more menacing. You swallowed your saliva in an attempt to clear the lump that had formed in your throat.

“But-” A wave of relief washed over you. “Izzy vouched for you, and I think you’re alright. So, what say you to being our cabin boy, eh? Just like old times.”

You stared at him almost blankly for a moment.

“Y-your... cabin boy, sir?” you repeated incredulously.

He leaned forward and sent you a glare. Your heart stopped- at least, that’s what it felt like. If possible, your eyes widened even more. You were too on-edge to wonder why Izzy had decided to vouch for you.

“I’m so sorry, sir.” you quickly apologised, your bottom lip quivering. “It-it’d be an honour to sail with you as your cabin boy, Captain.”

Ed smiled. It didn’t ease your anxiety. Then again, you didn’t think it was supposed to.

“Good. It’d be a shame to have to chuck you into the sea with that mate of yours, wouldn’t it?”

Your face completely dropped.

He glanced between you and Frenchie, then didn’t bother to look at either of you, now focused on polishing his weapon.

“Get ‘em to work, Fang.”
