i think the most annoying thing abt loving urban fantasy and school settings and having a lot o my blorbos in them is, like, i´m *HOMESCHOOLED????* have been since 4th grade, but still the school i went to probably isnt a good frame of refference. so im lest just completely lost and looking for refferences is practically impossible, bc *WHO DIDNT GO TO SCHOOL??* amirite???
so i´m low key scared i´ll write something just completely uninformed which will be noticed inmediately by everyone, and i´ll be put in a cage in the plaza and get tomatos thrown at me :((

Tim Walz is a regular speaker at the Minnesota Israel lobby where he said anyone who refuses to recognize the genocidal Israeli rape-torture entity is an "anti-Semite", just recently said he fully stands behind Israel's rape and genocide of Palestinians, and wants the Zionist lobby to write the curriculum on Israel and Palestine to erase Palestinians from existence. He literally wants to indoctrinate and brainwash children in school into Zionism and anti-Palestinian genocidal racism. He said that explicitly. He wants to teach kids to hate Palestinians and support their genocide. That is fucking insane. This guy is a fucking deranged freak. And they're memeing him into an epic based radical.
Tim Walz is a fanatical deranged fully owned Israel lobby plaything, exactly like Kamala Harris, and Shapiro, and all the other Democrats. There is no difference in policy that is going happen with these fucking freaks in charge. They're identical to Genocide Joe. Anyone who says otherwise with bullshit coconut memes is lying to you.
They are liars, intentionally lying to you, and pretending like there will be any difference. There will be no difference. Both will keep supporting the genocide of Palestinians because they're owned by the Israel lobby like John Mearsheimer just recently reiterated. As he says, without the US, Israel is nothing. It is beset with crises and on the verge of collapse, but the US keeps bailing it out with endless weapons, funding, and their own military moving in to protect this rape-torture death-cult masquerading as a society.
They will allow Israel to do whatever it wants, because it is Israel Uber Alles for these genocidal Zionist scum.
The only thing that has a possibility of changing it is when Palestinians, Arab and Muslim Americans and all those who oppose the genocide in states like Michigan say explicitly that they will not vote for Genocidal Zionist Queen Kamala Harris and Tim Walz unless they right now, at this very moment, make a policy change. Not bullshit abstract rhetoric and promises, right now. Now.
Don't buy the bullshit about "well she's just VP now, she has no power but she and Walz get in they will suddenly become epic and based and stop the genocide, just vote for them!" She is the head of the Democratic Party as the nominee she can force Genocide Joe to take a position if she wants to rescue her Presidential campaign and announce her own explicit policy of stopping funding, arms and diplomatic and military protection to the Israeli rape-cult. If she chooses not to, it means she is fine with losing and sticking with the Israel lobby.
I want you to reflect on just how unbelievably deranged the Tim Walz position of "we need to change the curriculum to brainwash our children into supporting Zionist genocide of evil Palestinian sub-human barbarians" is. His main selling point is "I was a high school teacher!", and he's endorsing pushing genocidal propaganda onto children to get them to support genocide. Holy shit. This by itself is disqualifying. Just change the context. Imagine he said: "All these people who oppose the Russian war on Ukraine, they're all brainwashed by TikTok and Twitter. We need to change the curriculum and you, the Russia lobby in the US, will have to change it for us, so we can brainwash our kids into supporting the war on Ukraine." Or even more absurd because it's difficult to even imagine it: Say he said it about Israel. Reverse the order: "All these people supporting the genocide of Palestinians are doing it based on propaganda from the Israel lobby and Zionists. We need to change the curriculum in schools to ensure that our children will learn the true history of the Nakba and the genocide and rape and massacre of Palestinians by Zionists and oppose it." He would not only not be VP, he would not be a dog-catcher in Minnesota, even though this is actually true. This curriculum would actually be based in actual history and not deranged Zionist propaganda. But he said it about Palestinians. He said he wants the genocidal Zionist Israel lobby in his state and every other state and country on earth to determine the curriculum of what children are forced to learn. Because his policy is not state-limited, he's expressing a universal view there about what he believes is best to teach all children everywhere. Tim Walz wants every US state and country on earth to let genocidal Zionists write their high school curriculum such that the rape and genocide of Palestinians is made justifiable by Israeli propaganda about how pristine Saintly white European Zionist Jews came to an empty desert land and made it bloom and then those fake Arabs made up their Palestinian identity to kill them because they're by their nature evil sub-human monsters. That's the Israeli Zionist narrative that Tim Walz wants every child on earth to be brainwashed into so that TikTok and Twitter posts of Israel beheading, maiming, massacring and raping Palestinian babies, children, boys, girls, women and men will be acceptable to them. They'll see it and go: "They deserve it, my high school teacher taught me they're evil barbarian terrorists." Tim Walz wants to dehumanize Palestinians through mass universal brainwashing of children so that their rape and genocide is made justifiable to them. This is utter madness. This guy is a fucking deranged and depraved monstrous freak. Holy shit.

MDZS Society! aka: there's a lot less killing than you'd expect
This follows from this post and also the recent translations of MXTX’s most recent interview (which I can now no longer bother to find bc this has been sitting in drafts for like, siiiix months? More? Oh god anyway.) which reminded me about my feelings regarding MDZS society and how different it is from the martial societies we see depicted in typical modern wuxia. (Small disclaimer, I am a wuxia genre fiend and I love like, thinking about fictional societies so this is like, “AHA! You’ve unlocked my trap card!”)
For the purposes of this, I’m going to be looking at MDZS/CQL’s depiction of the jianghu (which I think is fairly similar! I don’t actually think the show writers made CQL’s jianghu/martial society more genre typical than it was in the book) and comparing that with modern classic wuxia (mostly Jin Yong and Gu Long works.) For this comparison, I’ll be looking at a Jin Yong book — Legend of the Condor Heroes (which is widely considered the starting point of modern wuxia as a genre) — and one Gu Long book — Dagger Li/Sentimental Swordsman, Ruthless Sword (widely considered his most popular work) — and seeing how their societies differ from MDZS society.
This will likely come in two parts because this one was already getting long, and I don’t think we can fit “how often does nobility exist in a typical jianghu and what do bloodline sects look like normally versus what they look like in MDZS” in this post along with the main topic of “is MDZS society a particularly physically violent place?”
This post discusses how often cultivators are socially expected to kill people. Like, actual living human beings instead of, say, monsters or ghosts which have been categorized differently than like, human beings.
EDIT: I forgot to talk about Dagger Li but this was already much too long sorry. Feel free to hmu for more thoughts though.
Now, it might be easy to think that cultivators killing actual people is a really common thing in MDZS/CQL universe! After all, they do have martial arts training and one of the prominent things about the first life is just how many people die both in the Sunshot Campaign and the fallout afterwards. However, I would argue that a lot of the traumas and related issues and reactions that happen in MDZS happen because cultivators are, by training and education, not actually prepared for killing actual living breathing human beings! (And also that the morality of this world prevents it for the most part)
Now, we do actually get a pretty good window into what the typical training is like for young cultivators in MDZS, because we get a fairly well defined schoolhouse scene where LQR is asking them questions about "how do you tell the difference between various different problems we have to solve?" and "how do you go about fixing this problem?" and none of those include the moral quandary of "if I, a young cultivator out in the Jianghu, see a guy who is doing something I morally disagree with, under what circumstances do I beat him up and/or kill him." This does not appear to enter the curriculum at any point, leading me to believe that the morally correct number of people not like, ghosts or ghouls or fierce corpses, a regular average MDZS cultivator is supposed to have killed is approximately 0.
Which. Is a thing you get in a normal martial arts wuxia jianghu. There is generally the threat of "oh yeah this that or the other faction will be doing shitty things and thereby try to murder you." Instead, in MDZS/CQL most of the heirs of sects are...attending school together. Doing teenage things like partying and gossiping and attending classes.
And sure yes, there was a case of WWX and JZX trying to beat each other up. But the sects did sure let their kids stay at Lan summer camp for months on end (sometimes repeatedly, see NHS) without fearing for their lives or that anyone would steal another sect's techniques or otherwise causing real havoc or intersect warfare etc.
Which is infeasible in any other sort of Jianghu situation. For example, contrast this scenario with this scene from LOCH where Guo Jing's shifus are giving him advice since he is newly 17 and about to set out by himself into the great big world:
Guo Jing therefore bid farewell to his teachers. They had witnessed his battle against the Four Demons of the Yellow River, and were not too greatly worried. The young man had proved that he knew how to use the skills that they taught him. Therefore they let him leave alone. On one hand, the meeting of outlaws in Yanjing worried them greatly, so that they could not ignore it; and on the other hand, a youngster always had to travel the jianghu alone, in order to learn lessons that no teacher could pass on. At the moment of parting, each made their last recommendations. As usual when the Six spoke after one another, Nan Xiren was the last one to express himself. "If you cannot defeat the enemy," he said. "Flee!" He knew that given Guo Jing's dogged character, he would prefer to die rather than to surrender, if he met a master, he would certainly fight to the bitter end, even at the risk of death. That was the reason Nan Xiren gave him this common sense warning. " Martial arts have no limits," added Zhu Cong. " As the proverb says, 'For every peak there is one yet higher', so for every man there is one stronger. Whatever your power, you will always one day meet a foe stronger than you. A true man knows to retreat when necessary, when facing grave danger, it is necessary to contain one's impatience and anger. This what is meant by the adage, « If one preserves the earth and its forests, one does not fear to lack firewood ». It is not therefore not cowardly to take good advice! When the enemy is too numerous and that you cannot face them there, it is especially necessary to avoid being too reckless. Keep in mind Fourth Shifu's advice!"
Does this seem like the sort of advice that any Young MDZS Cultivator would get? "You're a good kid, but when you go out into the world, there will be people who straight up want you dead even though they met you 15 minutes ago, you cannot persist in fighting with these people because they will want you dead and you are a baby cultivator who needs to learn to run away when shit gets rough or you will be dead."
And again I come back to how MDZS cultivators are more like occupational ghostbusters because this really does inform how their society functions and runs and how everyone reacts so badly to the Sunshot Campaign beginning and its aftermaths and possibly explains how JGS could get his way after Sunshot.
Because what happens when you get a society that does train heavily in martial arts and have Able To Kill Real People Weapons who spends most of their time solving very black and white situations of "okay is this ghost whose eating people's livers good or bad? y/n?" and a clear hierarchy of "how do we get rid of the ghost eating people's livers in town x" instead of say "is it morally correct to kill this group of bandits who's been threatening the town" or "is it morally correct to kill this shitty businessman who's been holding people hostage and threatening to hack off their limbs" you have a reduced level of philosophical musing on like, "what is the purpose of martial arts, which is designed to kill people and what do I use martial arts for?" and "under what circumstances and situations would I personally find it morally correct to kill a man?" Which are all questions that Wuxia coming of age stories typically have, and I think MDZS does have, but expressed differently.
Again, it appears that the number of Real Live Human Beings that it is morally acceptable to have stabbed in your life is approximately 0 in this universe, and the expectation that you, personally, might have to fend off people trying to stab you over brunch is also approximately 0.
This also leads to a situation where like, questions of vengeance have very difficult escape hatches! If your parents are murdered on the job by an evil rampaging ghost, this is very sad and tragic and now you're an orphan and of course that's not good, but this is a occupational job hazard, not like, "Yeah Joe Bob from the sect down the street murdered my dad because #Reasons~, and now it's my legacy to grow up to murder Job Bob from the sect down the street to avenge my dad."
(I have a whole essay about how this pertains to both of the Nie Brothers, and how it pertains to JGY and also Jin Ling, and how this seems to routinely fuck people up in MDZS in a very specific way we don't typically see in other wuxias, but this is getting SO long as it is).
But yeah "the socially acceptable number of real living people (instead of ghosts or demons or fierce corpses or whatever) to have killed in your lifetime as a cultivator is approximately 0" means that the Sunshot Generation gets really really fucked up by all of this "killing real people" they did.
Which! might be why JFM was so slow to move on "yeah the Wen are threatening to kill your heirs." <- socially inconceivable behavior. Why society in general is so shocked by Xue Yang and the murder of the Chang <- which would be bad normally but not quite like this. And why no one did anything specific about JGS even if they felt he wasn't entirely correct. What are they going to threaten him with? Death???? A trial of his peers? Social Shunning??? Public shame???
"But Tav how does this relate to CQL!Su She's morality?" I hear you ask. Well you see, the question of "he should've been ready to die for his sect!" is utterly baffling in a society where nobody is expected to be ready to die for their sect on a regular basis because the idea that you should be ready for someone trying to stab you before brunch is utterly nonsensical in a world where most people expect that the baseline number of murders a cultivator does in their lifetimes is 0. That's the world he lives in.
On this regard CQL!Su She is utterly blameless. Nobody handed him a rulebook or expectations sheet for "the sect down the street will try to kill you" nor SHOULD they expect he'd be ready to die at a drop of a hat when no part of the education or social expectations include "ready to die for your sect because it's routine for people to try to kill you."
If you don't even expect to be stabbed and possibly die at a discussion conference where there are lots of cultivators from many sects why on EARTH would you expect to be facing down death in your own home when there's. cultivators here to kill you, this situation is so out of left field?

Check My Heart - 3
Hello all,
Here we are with another chapter and be prepared for a super sweet DadRowan...
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
A week had elapsed and on that morning in late August, Rowan was in the kitchen preparing breakfast for him and a lunch pack for his daughter. It was her first day of school and he needed it to be perfect. He had cleared his schedule for the morning and afternoon.
The previous night she had been excited and together they had laid out the uniform and prepared the backpack. She had asked for a panda backpack but her pencil case, pencils and pens were all Hawks branded. He was going to buy her regular ones but Maya had wanted to flaunt her allegiances right from the beginning. He knew his daughter and was sure she was going to brag about him very soon and put in place anyone claiming Perranth was better. HE loved his daughter but would admit that she had spent far too much time surrounded by hockey players and for an almost 6 yers old she had very strong opinions already.
His parents had convinced him to send her to a private school with great reputation and quite an interesting curriculum. He was nervous and prior to enrolment Rowan had requested a meeting with the headmaster to discuss his situation. Had to disclose that the mother was not in the picture and that his parents looked after Maya when he was away and also were the only people beside him to be allowed to pick up Maya from school.
So far his daughter had lived in a sort of protected environment but now she was going out in the world and, although Elide had done a wonderful job at dealing with most speculation with regards to his marriage to Lyria, he was afraid that something might leak at the wrong time and reach his daughter.
Breakfast ready, he climbed upstairs and went in Maya’s room. His daughter was just getting off the bed, her elf light switched on “morning big girl.”
Maya ran to him for a hug which Rowan did not deny her “Are you excited about school?”
She spread her arm wide “this much.” Rowan kissed her and then both went back downstairs.
“I made you waffles.”
Maya smiled and tucked in as soon as the plate was in front of her.
“I spoke to Miss G and she knows you are starting school but you can have some training in the afternoon with her after school.”
“Can we go tonight, dad? I want to tell her about school.”
In the weeks since the day he had played on the ice with Aelin, he had met her almost every morning. He had started to teach her some basic hockey manoeuvres and in return she had tried to teach him figure skating. Suffice to say that it reminded him of when as a toddler he was learning to skate. But it had been fun. Neither ever mentioned their accidents and he was not sure if she knew about him but surely she was less grumpy with him.
“That we can do.”
“She is teaching me the tappo jump.”
“You need to show me.”
Maya smiled proudly and Rowan was looking forward to see his daughter on the ice.
*
When he arrived in front of the school he paused before switching off the car and pushed back the tears he felt pooling at his eyes.
“Dada, school!” Maya was trying hard to unfasten her belt so he quickly jumped out of the car and went to her door “wait a second.”
Once his daughter was ready he grabbed the backpack, locked the car and together they walked to the main door. Maya was buzzing, Rowan was struggling to let her hand go.
Inside they were met by teachers and Rowan walked to the table to see where his daughter was heading to.
He had visited the school with Maya a while before and she loved it.
“Name?”
“Whitethorn,” he said quietly. Hockey was a big thing in Terrasen and he did not want any fans interrupting his moment with Maya. The woman at the desk smiled at him and then pointed to a specific room.
“Ready to see your class and meet your teacher?”
“Yes,” added Maya jumping up and down in excitement.
“Welcome,” said a woman with dark skin “My name is miss Falliq and I will be your teacher.”
“I am Maya and I love school.” The teacher kneeled and smiled “I am so glad.”
“Dada, I am at school.”
Rowan kneeled and hugged his daughter “I know baby and I am so proud.” A big kiss smacked on her cheek “and I love you so much.”
Maya returned the kiss “I love you too dad.”
Rowan all of a sudden could not pull back and let her go.
Then he took a deep breath and pulled back “I’ll pick you up after school and we are going skating okay?”
“Okay.”
Finally he stood and the teacher reassured him.
Rowan pulled back his cap and sneaked outside as quickly as possible. He hid in his car for a few minutes and fought the tears that threatened to spill. His girl was growing up fast and there was not a day in which he worried if he was doing a good job.
He was about to go back home but in the end he drove to the ice rink. Maybe some exercise would dull the ache of sending his daughter to school.
In the changing rooms he went for his lockers and wore a pair of training trousers and then his spare clean jersey. It felt strange to wear it again, with his fingers he brushed the C on the left hand-side then closed his eyes and pushed aside all the dark thoughts.
As he walked along the tunnel he felt the soft notes of music filling the arena. He was positive it was Aelin and his step had an unexpected spring until he emerged out of the tunnel and froze.
The usual pang of panic spreading through his body.
Rowan cursed. He had been feeling better recently and had no more panic attacks but now… he leaned against the wall and tried to control his breathing as his mother had coached him. She kept insisting that he had ptsd and maybe he should see a therapist but Rowan dismissed the theory every time. When he finally got his breathing under control he resumed his walk and emerged and spotted Aelin dancing at the rhythm of classical music. It was relaxing. While training with her they always kept the music on and he decided that it definitely did the trick. It had the power to keep him concentrated on the music and not on the ice.
He sneaked in and sat on the bench and studied her dance. She probably had spotted him but did not appear to be bothered by his presence. Aelin did a series of loops and jumps and he thought he recognised a Lutz. He had tried and learn more about the jumps and during their sessions he had managed to improve his single toe loop and a waltz jump, he still looked like a demented oaf but at least he was holding the landing now.
He smiled and kept watching her. Aelin lifted her leg behind her, grabbing it with an hand and then he saw her body folding forward until it resembled a doughnut. She spun and he was mesmerised.
Watching her skate was a thing of beauty.
Rowan was quite familiar with some of the performances from when he was with Lyria but Aelin seemed on another level.
She was up straight again and skated in a wide oval to gather momentum, Rowan watched her get in position for a jump but as she was about to take flight he noticed the brief hesitation. That split second was all she needed. Her skate caught in the ice and went flying on the ice. Rowan in terror skated to her “Aelin,” panic in his voice.
“I am fine.” She snapped in a furious tone.
“What happened there?”
She was silent and turned her head away from him.
“Aelin?”
Silence.
“You were trying an axel.” He admitted as he had seen her preparing for a forward take off.
“I…” her hand went to her knee “I just missed the timing.”
Bullshit, he wanted to shout. He had watched a lot of her videos of her competitions and she never missed. She was amazing and all the accolades she had been attributed were deserved. All of a sudden he realised she was struggling just as much as him.
“No, you didn’t.” He said softly and she looked up at him with a broken stare.
“I know…” he whispered and saw the surprise in her eyes “I saw the video.”
“You mean you saw me throw my career in the toilet.”
“It was a freak accident.”
Aelin scoffed hard “I landed a perfect triple axel and then what do I do? I fucking mess up with a Lutz?”
Rowan chuckled “well, it might be like us not scoring while on a 4 on 3 power play and an empty net.”
“You do realise I have no idea of what you just said?”
“We just need to teach you more hockey.”
They fell into silence and he sat at her side on the ice “want to know something cute?”
Aelin nodded.
“Maya started school.”
She squealed in delight “she told me that she was starting school, she was all excited.”
He lay down on the ice and could not care about the temperature.
“You seem sad.”
“No, I am happy, but it scares me at the same time.”
Aelin was about to ask something but Rowan stopped her and shook his head.
“Get up old man, show me some hockey.”
Rowan got up and went to the locker room and gathered some equipment and got back to the ice. He placed the net and the a few cones.
“You taught me some basic, now it’s my turn.”
He grabbed his stick and with experienced agility he zigzagged between the cones and scored.
“Do I need to cheer? What if I support the other team?”
“You really are a menace.”
Rowan huffed a laugh and continued “now, when you are handling the puck you need to protect it. Other players will try and steal it so they can score. To do that, you do this movement.” He placed the puck on the ice and showed Aelin the motions “see? You move it left and right and protect it using the blade as shield.” He finished skating and scored again “you try.”
He passed her the stick “This is huge.”
“That’s what she said.” He added with a smirk.
Aelin moved on the ice, her agility on the skates was perfect but he saw her struggle to control the puck that kept escaping.
Aelin screamed frustrated and Rowan moved closer. He pondered how close to get “Can I?” He asked, wary of personal space. When Aelin nodded he moved behind her and his hand covered her on the hilt. Slowly he moved their joined hands showing her the correct movements “Try now.” He pulled back quickly but the scent of lemon verbena still engulfed him.
A scream of joy awoke him from his thoughts and he noticed Aelin skating among the cones with a far better control. She was a quick study. Of that he had no doubt.
When she scored Aelin celebrated with a loop and a jump and Rowan just stared at her mesmerised by that woman with fire in her veins.
“Well, you can join us next game.”
“No thanks, You brutes can have fun.”
Rowan stopped in front of her “now try and get to the net with me blocking you.”
Aelin grabbed the stick and concentrated in a fierce expression “I am ready.”
Although Rowan went easy on her she never moved much as he blocked at every single try.
“I give up.” She added throwing the stick on the ice “I don’t care about hockey anyway.”
Rowan huffed a laugh “oh, the brute in me is hurt.”
Aelin was about to dismiss him when he stopped her “What’s a tappo jump?”
Her expression was one of curiosity “there is no such thing.”
“Maya said that she was learning the tappo jump.”
Then understanding dawned on her “the tap toe jump.” Quickly she demonstrated it to him “it’s one of the very basic jumps we teach, a fundamental,” Aelin did another jump but different “this is the bunny hop. Another basic jump.”
“Try the first one again.” She showed him and Rowan observed with interest.
A moment later he tried and crash landed on the ice. Aelin circled around him “All okay old man?”
“I haven’t fallen this much in a lifetime.”
Aelin nodded to his feet “your skates are not meant for this, you have no toe pick.”
“Oh, I have heard of that…”
“Good, now let me go back to my training before class comes in.” And with that she skated away leaving him on his own.
He chuckled to himself. It had been fun. Eventually Rowan went back to his training, allowing Aelin’s music to keep him focused. The team was getting back soon and he had to be prepared.

Things in The Neighbor's Under the Bed that drive me insane
(WARNING: IT'S A REALLY LONG POST FOR SOME REASON. CONTINUE IF YOU DARE)
Mark said "They beat us 7-nil", implying that Abigail was also a Raccoon. So. Both of them are retired Raccoon City players but Mark cares about football and getting back at Johnny and Janae's father. Abigail loves the guy enough to let him do his plans, occasionally helping him (like with the tunnel thing) but she doesn't obsess over football like he does
"A nipple a day keeps the Rangers at bay!" "That's what we've got on our house crest" I know all of these things are supposed to be for comedic purposes but that implies that Abigail's been doing the nipple thing since the Raccoons lost to the Rangers (hell, she could have also been doing it before they lost to the Rangers but I don't think she'd have the need to do that unless conspiring with Mark to get back at the Rangers)
THE ADDAMS JUST HAVE A BLUEPRINT OF THE EVANS' HOUSE. WHAT??
"We love you too, Dad!" Janae, that is your mother--
"Don't hit your brother anymore, that's not very nice okay?" "I try to but the night terrors" This is Janae responding. I can't tell if this is because Janae has nightmares and is hitting Johnny in their sleep or if Janae hits Johnny to wake him up from a really nasty future dream
Johnny coming out of nowhere while Martha was already telling the boys goodnight and her not knowing that he wasn't in the room shows how neglectful of a mother she is. Sure, she comforts him but also tells him to "shut up" and to "stop being weird".
"Yes, Johnny, that's the one" WHY DID JANAE HAVE TO CONFIRM THAT THEIR MOTHER WAS RIGHT WITH WHAT THEIR OLDER BROTHER'S NAME IS??
"I did say that he was my older brother. But he's emotionally less mature" This is definitely to clarify to the audience but I'm taking this as Janae knowing that their mother can't differentiate them sometimes.
"What do you mean you had another one of your future dreams?" SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT. AND THIS IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE, MIND YOU. SHE DOESN'T LISTEN TO HIM WHEN HE'S TALKING ABOUT HIS FUTURE DREAMS!! HE LITERALLY HAD TO EXPLAIN WHAT HIS FUTURE DREAMS WERE
"I'll try but I do have to finish the Oxford curriculum" Implies they're in school and then Tom throws the next line "Because, you know I'm lecturing in the morning" which throws my previous idea out the window. JANAE LECTURES AT OXFORD?? JANAE FUCKING GRADUATED AND TEACHES AT OXFORD??
"I dreamed a man came out from under my bed :(" I mean, sure, it's technically correct but not exactly correct?? Which implies that Johnny either has 80% accurate future dreams or his dreams come from another perspective sometimes??
"But sometimes they come true, mommy!" SOMETIMES?? SO THEY DON'T ALWAYS COME TRUE?? I MEAN. OKAY
"It's okay, I'm familiar with the carnal act" what has this eight-year-old seen....
"My seis-- my seismogram" Tom was blanking on what it was called but yes, a seismogram exists (I saw it on my exam. But now I'm starting to think that an 8 year old just recently invented it)
"It's not true" IMMEDIATELY TOLD HER CHILD THAT IT ISN'T REAL. DOES SHE CARE ABOUT HER CHILDREN? PROBABLY NOT
"If it was true, it would be called a seismoGRAPH" BOTH OF THEM SHUT JANAE DOWN. WHAT?? GUYS. HEAR 'EM OUT. COME ON
"I said I made it myself, it's something new, father!" NEITHER OF JANAE'S PARENTS WOULD LISTEN TO THEM. ALSO, THE EMPHASIS ON "FATHER" IMPLIES JANAE DOESN'T LIKE THEIR FATHER MUCH
"I know where he gets his power. I have to sleep with his wife" THIS IS LIKE THE MEME. ["I'VE CONNECTED THE TWO DOTS" "YOU DIDN'T CONNECT SHIT" "I'VE CONNECTED THEM"] NO BUT WHERE THE FUCK DID HE GET THIS IDEA I'M SOBBING SO HARD
"ENGORGE HIM AND HAVE HIM ENTE-- no wait-- ENGORGE HER AND HAVE YOURSELF ENTER HER" TOM WAS READY TO MAKE THIS GAY. I LOVE THAT
"It'll just be me and the boys--" "No, me and the boys" THEIR FATHER IS TOO FIXATED WITH FOOTBALL THAT HE DOESN'T EVEN CONSIDER HIS CHILDREN
"Tasting menu" "Expensive.." THIS ISN'T REALLY RELATED TO THE LORE I'M TRYING TO MAKE FOR NEIGHBOUR'S BUT THIS IS HILARIOUS
The nod to Luke before patting the chair. Again, not related to lore but I love this moment
AJ going to drink in the background until Luke spoke. Took a moment to pause because that was definitely not what Johnny sounded like previously (not related. again)
"We had a different daddy. Our daddy was not our daddy it was the neighbaah :(" Okay so going back to Johnny's future dreams, they aren't 100% accurate to what actually happens but rather a caricature of it?? Dreams don't always make sense in real life, so Johnny's future dreams being a bit exaggerated makes sense kind of??
"WHY ARE THEY DOING IT IN THE RECORDING STUDIO WITH ALL THE MICS ON?!" THEY HAVE A WHAT IN THEIR HOUSE? THEY HAVE A RECORDING STUDIO???
"I was going to suggest a fire but okay!" JANAE IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT THAT A FIRE WAS THE BEST WAY TO SOLVE THIS. THEY MAY BE BOOK SMART BUT THEY'RE A LITTLE BIT FUCKED UP IN THE HEAD. JOHNNY, THE ONE WHO GOES MORE ON EMOTION RATHER THAN GENUINELY THINKING, WAS THE ONE WHO HAD A RATIONAL IDEA. CALLING THEIR DAD WAS DEFINITELY THE BETTER IDEA. AND THEN HE JUST AGREES WHEN JANAE SUGGESTED A FIRE. YEAH, NO, NEVERMIND THEY'RE BOTH A BIT FUCKED UP (then again, younger children have wild imaginations. Janae might be intelligent but that doesn't mean they're not a kid. Hell, their boosted iq may or may not have aided with the fucked up ideas they might have)
Janae just being a news anchor/football announcer in a normal speed while Jack and Mark are in slow mo. Why is that? To make it a bit more dramatic? Because it's a slow mo playback? Huh??
"I'll be seeking forced adoption for myself and my older brother" GOOD BECAUSE BOTH OF THEIR PARENTS ARE NEGLECTFUL. THEY DESERVE TO LIVE IN A BETTER HOME, GODDAMN IT
Tl;dr: This play is insane and these two kids need a family that actually care about their interests and don't shut them down/force them to play football

Happy little headcanon 4
So they had a girl after season 11 right? Mulder of course wouldve been a stay at home dad, but I think he’d homeschool her. Not in a creepy fundie way. In a its too dangerous to leave you in a school building and my wife and I have severe trauma about losing children kind of way.
So he’d use his Oxford education to teach her like fluent latin and literature and ancient history on top of the regular online school curriculum. And he’d get her onto the local boys baseball team because hes the coach anyway. And theyd make matching squatching suits and go sit in the woods for hours eating snacks and being too loud to actually see a sasquatch, or hed take her on field trips to different historical places around DC or the smithsonian, where he would teach her how to be curious and inquisitive about the world above all else. And scully being a doctor with a week on week off schedule would pick up the science slack and do little experiments with them both that would inevitably devolve into lighthearted fighting when Mulder puts Erlenmeyer flasks under his shirt to make boobies or juggles the petri dishes and she’d tell him to take his aries energy out of the kitchen while trying her hardest not to laugh but hed catch her smiling as he retreated out of the kitchen to go research some other cryptoid.

summary: a lazy day at the royal palace because the prince said so.
settings: established relationship + leona is 16 years old here + female reader because sunset :) savanna :) women :) hot :) + pre-night raven college, during his gap year before enrollment + the reader has an older brother (hakim) who is referenced frequently + the reader grows up near the royal family.
Tumblr media
it has meant to be a reprieve from the constant training you’ve been getting lately. even when leona has the time to take his own break, you cannot afford the same luxury. it does not matter that you both outpace your peers, not when the cost of recognition comes with grit and integrity. and if there ought to be anyone who understands that well, then it would be leona. that knowledge alone surprises you immensely when it is he who comes to drag you away for a break.
‘you’ve been training too much,’ he grumbles, ‘even your own family says they haven’t seen you much these days.’
his hand squeezes yours while the two of you traverse down the paths of the royal palace. leona weaves around the corners with practised efficiency, too familiar with the layout of the labyrinth his home poses to be. in the time you’ve spent at the royal palace, leona has led you to many places you don’t even know that exist here. yet, somehow, there’s always more to find every time he’s in the mood for an adventure.
not today, however. today, the two of you go down to a place dear to your heart. the closed wing at the far west of the palace.
once upon a time, you have to maintain a layer of secrecy just to simply sneak there during school hours. now, it is only a matter of when and want. no one is going to stop the younger prince from doing what he wants, not when incurring his ire often provides more trouble than necessary.
in times such as these, you develop an appreciation for his intimidating stature and menacing reputation. simply by the virtue of his unique magic existing, he has garnered more than a few fearsome rumours about his personality. be as it may, he inspires no fear in you. maybe awe and discomfiture because of his title and aloof attitude, once upon the time. but you were ten then and he was new.
nowadays, leona is a bit less than a nagging older brother and dearer than a simple friend. ‘i came home every evening,’ you drawl, leaving out the late hours of which you returned, ‘it is father’s fault for always being caught up in his business dinners.’
you leave out the part where it’s falena’s own doing for keeping him there. ‘and mother is always out with her friends, you know how the court ladies love to gossip whenever possible.’
the two of you don’t mention your brother, for there is a mutual acknowledgement on both sides. hakim has accepted the invitation to enrol in night raven college this year, leaving leona who finds the curriculum underwhelming behind. your regular trio is short of one man, and with your increased schedule, neither of you has the necessary time to acknowledge his absence.
‘you should take after her more,’ he sends an impish grin back at you, ‘it has been months since i last saw you in a dress.’
you slap at his shoulder for the tease, and your steps continue to match his in rhythm. ‘don’t lie, you see me wearing one every week to attend the court gatherings.’
‘what’s the point? you always wear tights under. might as well be wearing pants.’
‘leona!’
his laughter echoes down the halls of the abandoned wing. the two of you hasten your pace out of habit instead of a hurry, and his hand squeezes yours tightly. this is building up to be a good day, you feel.
the two of you take up places in your usual dwelling on the terrace. at the corner where there are shades and a pleasant day wind blowing by, leona drags you down to the piles of blankets and pillows the three of you have accumulated over the year. even without your brother here, the area feels cosy and warm. your second home away from home, the one you share with leona and your brother when he is here. under the pull of his weight, you collapse easily down into his arms.
learned experience makes your fall graceful, you round your arm around his waist and snuggle close to him. he emits a pleased purr from his throat when you hook your leg around him. ‘isn’t this nice? better than burying your body under countless hours of training.’
‘you are no better,’ you grumble into his shoulder, ‘you’ve been camping at your study for hours since hakim left, and if not there, then you’re out to meet foreign dignitaries.’
you lean up to kiss leona on his chin, but he stops you from pulling back by lifting your chin up. the gentle caress of his lips on yours does nothing to pacify your ire. ‘i should be the one complaining,’ you mumble between kisses, ‘you spent more time studying than paying attention to me, i’ve talked to hakim more times in the past two weeks than to you.’
your hand reaches up to untangle the knots in his hair, leona soothes you by deepening the kiss. ‘i’m here now, aren’t i?’ he murmurs. ‘and if you have any more to complain about, you can always accompany me the next time i’m away.’
‘or,’ you grip his hair, not tight enough to hurt, but enough to demonstrate your point, ‘you can always join me during training next time.’
he grunts in displeasure, ‘i would if there is anything to train,’ he says, ‘i don’t understand how you continue to practice with them even when you’ve exceeded them in both strength and skill.’
‘a good leader needs to understand their people, leona,’ you argue, ‘not everyone can spend their time watching from afar.’
‘hmph,’ his disagreement with your method rings loud, but his respect for your stance remains, ‘i’ll have to see it to believe it.’
you pull him down for another kiss, a strange smile graces your lips, ‘guess you’ll have to join me the next time i have to train then.’
he rumbles with another low purr, a sort of quiet acceptance that lulls the two of you into more pleasant topics. the two of you have had a lot to catch up on over the past few weeks of infrequent communications. leona’s tail begins to sway lazily the more comfortable he gets. eventually, his eyes droop. from circles forming underneath, you expect he has been more tired than he lets on but stays awake only to spend time with you.
a soft kind of peace returns to him once he can no longer fight the grip his fatigue on him. you ease him down to sleep on his back, not yet wanting to fall into slumber with him. under the gentle sway of the shadows formed by the tree branches, leona paints the image of a masterpiece coming to life. in contrast to his rough appearance, his long lashes put him in a softer countenance when he is asleep. the absence of a scowl does that to him.
you can only wish the people of the court can see this moment and treat him with more kindness once they see there is another person underneath their scrutiny. not the villain they make him be since the days he is strong enough to demonstrate his strength to their eyes. with a sigh, you put away that thought and turn to seek entertainment while leona regains his sleep.
one of the books hakim left askew lies within your reach and you decide it would be your companion for the day.
most of the materials are dry, detailing the treaties between the sunset savanna and other kingdoms. some of them date back to the days of the great seven when the nations are ruled by the magnificent. unfortunately, for someone leaning more towards the side of warfare, this interests you little. you’ve made the unfortunate estimation of your brother’s selection, the hope to get anything fun out of his pile diminishes by the seconds. books which belong to leona are no better. he keeps a few of them here, but they vary between political studies and magical innovations.
your eyes begin to cross after trying for too to comprehend one of the advanced magical theories. you put the thick tome on your building pile of unfinished books with a disappointed sigh. the temptation to nap with leona grows stronger by the minute.
however, your saviour stands out among the remaining pile in the form of a book with thick blue covers. the title does not inspire confidence in you, but the thought that it is fiction alone energizes you more than it should. you snatch the book from where it lies, rousing leona awake a little in your haste.
his half-awake grunt keeps you immobilized for the moment, not daring to awaken him further. another minute passes, leona settles down and his breath grows soft again. his asleep face is adorable to the point where you are tempted to kiss him again, but you resist. you snuggle up to his side with your shoulders pressing against each other.
the book occupies much of your time, turning out to be more fascinating than what the cover shows. it talks of the love story between princess kiara, later queen, and her romance with her eventual husband, king-consort kovu. the narrator has achieved the great accomplishment of weaving intrigues and mysteries into the original story. while the outcome is predictable, you get to experience the wondrous journey before it. by the time you’ve passed the mark of the first hundred pages, leona stirs.
for a moment, you think he has awakened. but he continues to keep at his slumber, only turning to throw an arm over your waist.
his action ends there, but not yours. you catch the sight of a stray eyelash fluttering down on his cheek. it is a little thing, almost missable. you decide to help him get rid of it, finger brushing the contour of his cheek.
your tiny action does not go unnoticed, however. upon your contact with his cheek, leona cracks an eye open. he, tiredly, lazily, glances up at you. the confusion in his eye puts a smile on your lips, ‘eyelash.’
he frowns, but his eyes close once more, leaving you to your own whims. you lift the eyelash from his cheek, but before you can throw it away, his hand wraps around your wrist. ‘…?’
leona lifts his head. you watch him in anticipation, but when he speaks again, you nearly topple over in cackling. ‘meat,’ he blows on the eyelash thoughtlessly, then drops back down not even bothering to watch it disappear into the passing wind.
you comb absentmindedly through his hair when leona goes back to squeeze your hip close to him. he has closed his eyes once more but you doubt he’d fall back to sleep as easily after that. ‘seriously, meat?’
‘hm.’ he grunts. ‘why ask for anything else?’
‘are you hungry?’ amusement overtakes your exasperation. you brush a few strands away from his face, then turn to massage his scalp.
‘are you going to feed me?’ he asks. a sudden interest ignites.
you smile easily. ‘no.’
‘then why did you ask?’ he grumbles in mourning for the pointless extension of his energy. at your delighted laugh, he growls and turns his back to you, effectively shutting down the conversation. ‘just let me sleep then.’
you cannot help but feel amused by his suddenly childish side. one can attribute much of his grumpiness to his sleep deprivation, but you cannot help taking an advantage of the situation. ‘you’re such a child, leona,’ you tease in good nature, but he doesn’t take it the same way.
he complains but what comes out is an annoyed grunt. ‘and you’re a bother, not stop annoying me or.’
‘or…?’
you await a threat or a warning, anything, but it never comes. what you get instead after prolonged suspense is leona wearing a devious grin when he flips back. that should’ve been a sign for you to scramble away, but he lunges before you get the chance.
‘ah, leona!’
within seconds, you're encaged in his arms again, a helpless victim to his petulant whims. leona rolls you down to the pile of blankets and pillows. he uses his weight to keep you down with his leg locked around yours, leaving no room for escape.
 ‘leona!’ you push at his chest but he wouldn't budge. ‘this isn’t funny, i have to train soon. i’m not going to nap with you.’
he snorts, ‘should’ve thought better than to trifle with me before that,’ he says, ‘when having that ever turned out well for you?’
‘ugh, i didn’t even do anything…’ you shove at his chest again, but the limited space and his tightening hold hamper your progress. ‘leona…!’
‘careful, whine like that again and i’m even less inclined to let you go,’ he warns with an insufferable smirk on his lips, ‘or had that been your plan all along? hassling me with the motivation to rile me up enough to act…?’ he curls a lock of your hair around his finger, twirling it absent-mindedly, ‘i’ll have to say i didn’t expect this level of deviance from you.’
‘because there isn’t any!’ you continue to struggle, but more and more, it looks like a futile battle. ‘you’re impossible, do you know that?!’
‘hmph, that will teach you a lesson to not mess with me,’ he breaks into another yawn, ‘now settle down, the later i get to sleep again, the later you get to leave.’
the finality in his words has you resigned to your loss. soon as you slacken, leona nuzzles into your hair with a satisfied hum and realigns into a more comfortable position. you, too, begin to cuddle into his chest and loop your leg around to set on his.
however, you wouldn’t go down quietly. soon as your arm winds up around leona, you smack his back and make his eyes snap open once more. ‘bastard,’ you snarl with a vicious grin.
he growls, ‘now you’re just asking for it.’
‘wait, no—‘ your eyes widen at the severe mistake you’ve committed ‘—leona!’
in the end, leona gets what he wants and you’re left missing the training hours altogether. at least, much to your condolences, he does keep to his promise to accompany you at training when you have to catch up later in the evening, just without everyone else around.
make you wonder if this has been his plans all along.

A random question just popped into my head.
Did Genji and Hanzo attend normal school or were they homeschooled? and if they were homeschooled where they properly homeschooled so that they have qualifications? or do they like legally not have any form of credentials?!
Going if the path of no credentials....that is probably why they can't get any jobs apart from assassins... Because we know they're educated it's just whether legally they have the documents saying they have their education.
Because I can imagine that the clan just homeschooled all the children in the clan and then part of the curriculum would be the ninja training ,which they prioritized. I can imagine they both speak multiple languages because that would be ideal foreign trading. And we already know Hanzo is amazing at geometry.
Similar note, did Cassidy ever get that education considering he ran off and joined/founded a gang as a young teen. I imagine personally that when OverWatch found out Cassidy didn't have the formal education they made sure he got it, at least enough to graduate high school. But if they didn't, and didn't know he didn't have the qualifications, is he in the same metaphorical boat that Hanzo and Genji are were they just can't get any other job anywhere cuz they don't have the bare minimum to get any regular job and can only be assassins?!

The longer BNHA goes on, the more I start to ask this question.
Is this a story worth telling?
It brought up some interesting things to think about like what it really means to be a hero and if villains really are evil or people that society failed.
But then comes the muddled messages, characters that barely do anything significant other than to be plot devices, the overhyping of one character that ruins the purpose and development of the main character, and the inconsistencies and conclusions that characters come to that makes little to no sense.
Then you just have a story that just goes NOWHERE!
Because let's be honest, how much will society actually change by the end of it all? How will it treat quirkless and those with less than stellar quirks? And will they actually allow people like Bakugou to become heroes all because they "try really hard"?
Hi there, @theloganator101 First off, thank you for the question.
Also, TLDR.
Long before, I had made a somewhat similar post, talking about the same points. What makes a hero a hero? Because it's more than wearing a cape and punching issues and problems into submission. Bad guys simply go to jail and rot till their dying breath. And why is the world of BNHA so black and white? So 'this is good and this is bad'? We have a very compartmentalized version of human society. But you and I both know very well that human nature, human social interactions are the most complex and difficult things to understand. And even though I had seen these flaws in the series much earlier, I was still forgiving of the author because I genuinely thought he would eventually come around and explain why things are they way in the BNHA verse. But that NEVER happened at any point in the series so forget about Hori addressing these issues now because BNHA as a whole doesn't matter.
It's a no brainer to say that the job of a 'hero' is to save the day. But what about those who are the victims of school bullying? (cough cough BkDk is a totally normal and a healthy relationship, you're just a homophobe if you dont ship them) or those who had to keep their voice and entire existence heavily suppressed because your marriage was just a means to an end? (Endeavour is a loving husband, a doting father and a hard working hero) What about those kids who are victims of child abuse, child neglect and discrimination? (the Todoroki kids, Shigaraki, Toga and heck, even low key Spinner grew up in loving and healthy households). The Creature Rejection Clan was created to combat racism and All Might, someone who's name itself reduced crime in Japan by a half simply by existing, did NOTHING against the CRC. I thought 'heroes' were meant to protect the weak and deliver justice to the evil doers irrespective of who or what they are. I thought that's what's really meant to be a hero, to be defenders of mankind. Because lets face it, what's the difference between a villain who kills and a hero who abuses his family members on a physical, mental and an emotional level? What are the required criteria to judge these very two damnable actions with a bias attitude?
Which brings me to another question: Why are the students at UA high only taught martial or physical training? Don't they have special classes where they have to moral education classes or something along those line? Besides the rigorous physical training they need to fight against heroes, they have normal, regular-degular academic curriculum. These so called heroes-in-training are well educated in the art of understanding the topography of a battle field but the system has FAILED to educate the kids to understand why villains are the way they are. The entire system, the root itself, the very foundation of the hero society, FAILED to protect what they claimed to be. People like Toga, Dabi, Overhaul, Spinner, Shigaraki, Twice, Stain, Magne, are all nothing but the products of the hero society, the actual end result of this superficial, celebrity-like lifestyle of hero worship. But many fail to see beyond the stars and shimmers of this artificially constructed world.
The above points are heavily tied to Stain's ideologies. He didn't put up arms and struggles against the hero society for nothing. He knew what he was doing.
This may not be the answer that you're looking for but the way I see it, the MHA story shows us a horrifying representation of our already dark and twisted world but that's where it stops. It wants to do nothing with it because the story doesn't know where to go with it and how to go about doing it. It started something it couldn't finish. It created issues it couldn't solve. So the plot choose a different path to tread upon: focus on the popular people from the hero society who are highly questionable and romanticize their words and actions. It doesn't matter if you faced quirk discrimination or worse, became a butt of ridicule for not having any quirk at all. So long as a bully has given a half baked ''apology'' and works hard to be a hero to satisfy their own ego, it's all good at the end of the day. Self worth issues, self inflicted bodily harm, lack of self worth received by the victim (definitely NOT Izu because Bk treats him with utmost respect and comradery), all melt away due to the power of 'apology' and friendship. It teaches us that celebrity worship, fake sense of heroism, the desire to be the top at the expanse of others are to be treated with normalcy because the show must go on no matter what. The other message is that it's ok be a wife beater and a bully so long as you're doing it for heroism, name, fame, recognition.
Our priorities in the MHA universe are all messed up. We don't even have an inkling of a thought about how Izu feels about quirkless discrimination and the manga is wrapping itself up. So all the answers we can provide ourselves with regarding the matter will be head canon.That's why the main message of the story is that it fails on so many levels in terms of writing a morally upright story. The main hero of our story is nothing to offer, no words of hope and encouragement. That's the other message it has conveyed to us. I'm not saying this, the manga has proven to us time and again what i just said. The other thing it hammers home is the fact that, so long as you're a hero, your unjust behavior will be swept under the rug by your school and higher authorities. The message that MHA time and again conveys is that it loves hypocrisy and double standards. These are the solid reasons as to why the plot cannot logically and cohesively march forward.
"With great power comes with great responsibility" and the MHA verse failed to understand this concept by becoming the very thing the villains are condemned for in this series. That, my friend, is the general message of the story. That, my friend, is the moral lesson of the MHA verse.
#MHA critical thinking #bk is a bully #Izu deserved better #Izu is the protagonist not Bk #Izu matters Bk doesnt #Hori cant write shit

woe, idle hcs be upon you:
Mei has hyperpigmentation/melasma, and due to her rough and tumble disposition, she's covered in pockmarks from bruises, scrapes and the occasional acne;
Mei also has little budding horns on her head, she just covers them with her pigtails so they don't snag or catch into stuff;
she has several social media accts, her largest ones are her speedrunning stream channel and her bike racing and modding blog;
she finds dragon tattoos funny cus "lmao that looks like my great-cousin before he hit his growth spurt bahahaha!";
MK is nonbinary masc trans; he got blockers prior to his teens, but he stopped T only a year before the events of the series;
He has a small cloud handpoke tattoo on his ankle, he did it himself on a whim and its shaky and wonky but he treasures it a lot;
He has several piercing scars on his ears and nose, and on his eyebrows. He tried to make them last, but the moment he loses piercings like you wouldn't believe. He eventually stopped when one got torn during martial arts practice;
Hai'er isn't too bothered by pronouns, but he prefers masc adjectives;
He often wears traditional clothes, but he prioritizes practicality overall, especially qhen he's at his workshop;
He's incredibly strict when it comes to safety gear and measures. If you won't respect his labs and workshops for the SAW traps that they are, then be gone;
Pigsy used to ride bikes, he was big on wheels until he sold his pride and joy to get the remaining money he needed to open the noodle shop;
Pigsy and Sandy met on the bike "gang" scene, though it was less a gang and more several younger folk who enjoyed riding and causing the occasional trouble, but not real gang-related crimes;
And the two met Tang when he walked in on them doing a small fundraiser for the shop;
he became a regular on Pigsy's food stand and even rambled about his food to his colleagues;
Tang and Pigsy are in a steady relationship together, and they are both legal guardians of MK;
The monkeys at FFM call MK either "little sage" or "prince", much to his bashfulness. it's cute when the cubs do it though;
after MK had a proper introduction to the folks of the mountain, he's constantly invited to take part in their life. festivals, holidays, birthday parties, he always get invited to come over and join them for it;
before the novelty of the Monkie Kid went away, Pigsy had to install some safety measures on the noodles delivery app, cus people kept ordering noodles only to see MK and ask for signatures and such;
Mei is a restaurant's worst nightmare because she's So Picky when it comes to seafood;
'Mei' and 'MK' are nicknames they both got in the martial arts academy, their names are still Long Xiaojiao and Qi Xiaotian;
Sandy used to do boat transportation, but he retired to do engineering work instead. he got a degree thanks to Tang's encouragement and support;
Mei is on prep school for electrical engineering college; her parents wanted something more law-oriented but this was their compromise, since Mei didn't want to do college At All;
Tang is an academics jack-of-all-trades; he messed up his tenure so now he does academic book revisions, translations and editorials. Hes also affiliated with a number of libraries, and manages read-alongs, study groups and other events. On occasion he gets advisory jobs on documentaries and such, and he's even been asked on a few interviews;
He gets supremely insufferable about his curriculum if you get him talking about it;
He's got a near flawless memory of every book he's read, able to quote exact lines and identify the chapter and pages from them;
Tang speaks a number of languages, and sometimes takes students from fellow teachers who might need some private lessons to catch up;
His tenure was put on pause so he could help Pigsy with raising baby MK, and he doesn't regret his choice one moment;

a lot of former gifted kids would also straight up laugh at autistics and people w learning disabilities calling us retards and the like so I just dont feel bad for them
i feel like this is only half true in my experience and rlly dependent on the programs ur school offered but in mine there were definitely kids in both hs and middleschool who would mock other students with leaning disabilities but there were also students who never did that or tell their fellow classmates to stop but i feel like that mindset of “im special for being in these classes” is popular enough that a lot of students end up falling into hating or looking down on disabled students as a result, in my hs a majority of the gifted programs offered field trips better teachers better learning materials more resources etc while kids in struggling classes had virtually nothing and the process of getting an aid or tailored curriculum was frowned upon and hard to do, i was in gifted classes english and the difference between those classes and the regular ones were insane and completely unfair to the rest of the student body

So basically my bosses have just killed Latin as a subject at my school. They have decided that any students wanting to do Latin at GCSE cannot do it alongside a Modern Foreign Language: either they do Latin or they do a Modern Foreign Language; they cannot do both. In this scenario, most students will likely choose a Modern Foreign Language over Latin, because of course, while Latin is great, it is just not as directly useful as a Modern Foreing Language. Even I cannot argue with that logic, and I'm the only Latin teacher at the school!
So, what this means for the subject is that hardly any students will choose Latin for GCSE for next year -- we'll be lucky if we get 5 students or so. It also means that, with such small classes, eventually there will not be enough students to do the subject at A Level either. And so, slowly but surely, the subject will die. Or rather, it will remain so small as to be almost irrelevant -- a quirky thing to do for about 60 students at KS3, and 5 or so at KS4.
When I got the news, I was so angry and disappointed, I cried for a good 20 minutes. For the past two and a half years, I have been working so hard to develop our Latin curriculum, to improve our subject offer, and in general to raise the profile of Latin as a subject at our school. And now, in one swift move, all my hard work has been destroyed... All my hopes to develop out subject further, get regular A Levels running, even become a proper department, with another colleague in it, someone to share my work with... All that, it's gone. And I cannot help but ask myself: what's the point?
What's the point of being in charge of a subject, if you cannot develop it? What's the point of doing this job, if you cannot change things for the better? I know I am naive. I know I'm too ambitious. I know that I ask too much -- I know I know I KNOW!! But I do not have it in me to pretend that this is just fine. I did not decide to stay at this school, after a very difficult first year, to just shut up and do my job and not care. I decide to stay because I saw the potential to develop things further, to make things better, and I thought that my bosses saw it too. But now I realise that my bosses don't care about helping Latin grow and thrive. They're just happy to have it, to show it around like a "fiore all'occhiello" -- like a boutonnière, a buttonhole -- like a beautiful flower to show everyone when they're around, and then throw it away when they're gone.
If my bosses want to keep Latin as a small subject, that is fine, they can do it. But one thing is sure: I will not be there to see it happen. With a broken heart, because I love the students, and they deserve better, but I do not have it in me to just sit there and accept this. I cannot accept the bitterswitness of teaching Latin at GCSE to only a handful of students, whom I must thank for their commitment to the subject, but I must also pity, because in order to choose that subject, they were forced to give up on a Modern Foreign Language, which is just not fair. I cannot accept that, if we ever get a student who will want to do the subject at A Level, I will have to ask my bosses whether they are a student "worth keeping" for our Sixth Form in order to see if we can offer them that subject (I swear to God, this is an actual conversation I have had to have with them -- their words, not mine). And finally, and perhaps most importantly, I can just no longer accept to be commuting for two and a half hours every day for a job where all my hard work is building towards nothing, where I keep proposing things to develop and improve our subject, only for it to be killed in the most careless and ruthless of ways.
So, yeah. There you have it. I will remain until the end of the year to tidy things and wrap things up properly, but from this moment, I will start looking for jobs. I don't care if it's an independent school rather than a state one, though I would prefer the latter if possible. And I do not mind if it's just a regular teacher job; I have had enough of being in charge, though I could do it again if it were the right opportunity. I really just want the next job to be close home, and not too demanding, and if they could just not use the CLC to teach Latin at GCSE, that would be great. But we'll see. I already have a job eyed up. I will be prepare an application between tonight and Monday. Wish me luck.

Okay so uh... hi again! I finished Arc Two. Uhh... thought I'd mention that.
(oigrnjkfdbcvjiontkejgrdfcbionsejkgdfxcbojinekjgsdfbcvionklgsfdbcvjpinklgsfbdovijcklngrsfbdjpocvmlk NEXT ARC PLEASE-)
ahem so question
I was doing a bunch of work, day dreamed about fanfics because yes, and realised that schools, universities and colleges exist in the Super Sticks world
it made me think, like-
did Dark and Chosen go to school? what was it like, figuring out they had powers in that time? did they have friends at school? how did said friends react to their "disappearence"?
do they plan to finish their education? maybe Dark wants to study programming, or make some games?
what would Chosen study if he was in uni/college? does he plan to?
...food for thought I guess
also possible ideas idk
here is another cookie :D (my newest batch is of ANZAC buscuits, but there are still some peanut butter fudge ones if you want ^^)
:D
Hehehehe~
Oh, well Arc Three is going to be quite aways away, cause I need to actually finish Arc Two. What you've read, what's been published so far, is not even half of the content I have planned.
The problem is my plans keep liking to stay plans and don't wanna get written very well-
Schools for Chosen and Dark- Hang on, I have notes for this, where are they- sjahsjjajsks
[Spoilers: Scarlett did not find the notes-]
Uhhh, I had it planned that Chosen and Dark did online schooling after they left home, which helped in the end because Chosen graduated and then got a better job so they were a bit less on the edge of barely surviving.
They had some rough days, I'm tempted to do a bonus feature for just- Average day of Arc One Chosen and Dark, post-runaway, pre-Sec reunion. I already did a bonus feature for Arc One Vic, hehehe [and snuck in a Kaori Becker lore drop, lol]
But mostly angst~ Angst angst angst~
Oh yeahh, lemme promote the Bonus Features fic real quick~
I have many extra shenanigans in there, plus lore, plus extra scenes, plus a collection of some rambly Tumblr asks where I expanded greatly on some worldbuilding.
Oh and funny skits. :3
-
Chosen studied finances and math, partially so he could get better at budgeting for himself and Dark, and also because he likes math and logic and numbers. Lovable bookworm, hehe
Chosen and Dark went to regular school when they were younger, like preschool age. But Alan swapped them to online schooling due to financial problems~
[*looks at reasons-why-Vic-left lore*]
And then things got better, and Second went to regular school, but Chosen and Dark were used to online and they both liked it enough they just continued anyway.
Chosen and Dark never made significant friends, they always just had each other to have for company. [Brother besties for real~] Everyone else in their online school was an acquaintance at best.
They actually swapped online schools after running away, so they could continue a different curriculum under pseudonyms. Cause they were now "Missing", and the authorities were searching for them.
If they continued their original online school and someone noticed Chosen and Dark were present in the virtual class despite being "Missing", then it'd just be a matter of time before IP addresses were tracked down.
Chosen and Dark were set on going away, and staying away for a while, though. With their combined efforts, it paid off and they were never located and never brought back home.
Until little orange hollowhead entered the scene, hehehehe

Thanks so so much for the askkk!! And the little virtual peanut-butter snack~ ^ w^ nomm

Hi so I’m a Damian fan, who is still trying to get into comics and DC in general and stuff. I do know some tidbits from fandom and different blogs that I follow that do analysis.
However after a discussion with my brother (who’s been in special-ed), came this question? I don’t really know how to ask this but I’ll try to phrase it the best I can??
When it comes to schooling realistically would he be put into Special ED (Special-Education?)
While Damian doesn’t have a disability, I think because of his upbringing. Okay let me explain a little. Since Damian has college levels of education, being put into regular classes wouldn’t be considered challenging enough and if he were to be tested, the teacher probably would have to meet with his parents on whether or not to have him move up several grades?
And if the whole reason for Damian to being put into school is to help socially, then maybe special-Ed would help him? Because, the teachers are more hands on and (according to my brother) more focused on social development. And Special ED usually more works on basic life skills which probably is more of Damian needs.
But anyways, I know probably comic writers are not going to do that. But I thought it was an interesting thing to bring up for discussion?
I don't have personal experience with special education, so I can't comment on that. Teaching experience wise I can say there are two different ways people adapt content for students with disabilities:
Accommodations are ways you help students learn the same content as their peers. This can be making sure the content is conveyed via multiple means (ex: always having something visual to help explain while you are talking), breaking stuff into smaller chunks for students with ADHD, and like... a gazillion other things.
Modifications actually change what is demanded of the student, so you are asked to learn different content than your peers. I am under the impression that some special ED programs might allow for a modified curriculum, as im doing some research.
WRT hands on teacher stuff, I know that some students genuinely have a hard time managing their behavior in a regular classroom and can benefit from more individualized attention. We do know Damian isn't one of those students, though.
Continuing to connect this to DC comics characters, with my general lack of experience in special education in specific? If his parents were putting him in a non-mainstream-school thing I'm not sure why they would choose special ed instead of a gifted program, when both would presumably involve smaller classes with a more hands on teacher, but the special ED teacher would probably have a wide range of abilities to teach to. I think Damian also has had lots of experience working with teachers in small classroom environments (getting tutored 1-on-1 for most of his childhood :P) so I assume if he wants to learn more about peer social interaction he'd benefit more from something he's not used to, like a bigger classroom size? IDK. He's had small class sizes a lot of his life.
I do want to point out that Social Emotional Development is a current buzzword in teaching (and some people think it's getting too much attention and teachers are being asked to do things that reasonably should be parents responsibility but... :P not gonna get into teaching discourse since I do not have a lot of strong opinions on it) and lots of people want to try to work on kids development socially even in mainstream classes. However obviously that's hard with big class sizes.
Anyway TL;DR: I'm not really seeing how it would come up realistically, but take that with a grain of salt due to my lack of experience.
EDIT: Ok after reviewing my notes and a teensy bit more research, I don't think it's realistic I can't believe I fucking forgot the least restrictive environment thing XD and while obviously the least restrictive environment for any given student is not always a mainstream classroom, in many cases kids who receive special education services do spend time in mainstream classrooms, and at least in the US (which he is going to school in US so I think I can use this generalization :P) the goal admin would have is that the kids in Special ED do spend time in mainstream classrooms as they can, you don't spend like the whole day in a separate room. A lot of the general thought atm is that kids are not separate from their peers without justification.

REQUEST TIME !! can i pls request a university tachi? what major would he be, what would his hobbies be, how does he meet reader? etc
THANK U SM FEEL FREE TO IGNORE AND REMEMBER TO DRINK LOTS OF WATER I HOPE U HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERY DAY
<Babi i love you smmsmmssm I WILL HYDRATE MYSELF TO THE POINT I DISSOLVE INTO WATER, I've been away and off from tumblr since I'm pretty crazy and rotting in bed (school holidays is getting to me really hard). BUT BUT LET ME WRITE YOU THIS SAHHAHDUAUSD. Small reminder that I'm NOT a university student myself, as you can see I'm pretty young a still a teen girl so I have no knowledge abt uni majors (I pre-prepared majors for my future so I think I have a thought or two on how tachi would work in Uni) ANWAYSYYY SRUMDELI YUM YUM YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!> 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐀 !! | 𝐓𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐗 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑 (𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒)
Tumblr media
✦ ─ ˗ˋ ୨୧ ˊ˗ ─ ✦ ✦ Michizou would most likely be doing criminology (I can vision him studying crime, courses like psychology and law) OR a stem major (his ability could be proven useful, Mechanical Engineering would suit him a lot!!! I mean this guy would be establishing some cool machineries). ✦ I'd say Michi would be a well organised university student, given how he can balance his military identity between his Mafia persona. I'd say he'd cope with his schedule (rip all the other students dying of no sleep.) ✦ Tachihara doesn't get regular sleep (not that he gets less sleep just...not a regular sleeping schedule), but I'm 100% sure he's alright. He'd sometimes nap randomly, bro would nap at the most random time anyways LOL. ✦ What extra curriculums he'd do in Uni? BRO WHEN I TELL YOU HE DOES SPORTS FOR SURE!! Basketball in particular. He'd be the star of the show, with his good build and pretty feisty look. Girls on the basketball stadiums would be head over heels. What can I say? He's a popular fucker amongst his peers. I'm positive he is someones hallway crush on the first year of Uni. (definitely the readers.) ✦ He's talkative, always blabbering about dumb shit or shitty jokes. He laughs before he could say the joke, he starts getting an aneurysm on the spot for laughing so hard. ✦ What does he do in his extra time? Hangout with his mates or fuck around a lot in game lobbies. He would be spending hours and hours grinding for a fortnite skin or honestly just pay 2 win (bro bought the whole jjk skins on fortinite). ✦ Michizou takes studying pretty fucking seriously, he failed countless times in his junior years during highschool. He only took his grades seriously once life was hitting a little TOO hard. ✦ Tachihara wasn't interested in any romantic relationships, not until he gets a stable job and house in future. He just wasn't ready for that kind of commitment and he stuck to that style until he met you. ✦ He's friends with all kinds of people and would honestly vibe with all of them, his social battery can get drained pretty easily. ✦ You were doing a medical course and hardly had any rest (I mean any medical majors in my opinion are pretty hard from my perspective). You and Tachi tend to study together, though both of you have different courses. ✦ You two actually knew each other back in highschool. Though you've never TALKED until a certain event in uni. (a small disaster I'll write a fan fic abt it) ✦ You two go on dates once in a blue moon, given how passionate you are about being a doctor (or nurse, you're a pretty tired person.). ✦ Sometimes Michizou would find you cheering the loudest amongst the girls when he plays on the basketball field. (You're definitely the number 1 cheer girl) ✦ After winning the game, he'd run over to you. Cool sweat trickling down his face. He'd hug you and give you multiple of kisses, you'd also give that in return. ✦ EXTRA : Tachihara would always let you stay the night (or two) over in his dorm whenever you have fights with your parents. You live with your parents but sometimes they could really get on her nerves. You'd usually come over frustrated with tears, but hey!! he'd pamper you, coop you up on the couch and just kiss those silly tears away

Riordanverse OC Headcanon: Ciel Ambrose Silverstein Top. (Training)
Ciel first teacher was his father, Alexander Silverstein (formerly Alexander Corbyn) and he taught his son the basics of street boxing. Alexander was a troubled youth when he lived in his home country of the United Kingdom, but his father (Ciel grandfather) had Alex take up boxing. Though Alex fought Ciel what he knew as means to defend against the bullies he dealt with at school. One day, Alex received a call to his restaurant about his son being suspended because he taken down his bully. When Alex picked up Ciel he reinforced the importance of not resorting to violence right away and be smarter than his opponent. Though he did reward him with ice cream when Ciel told him he used a cross hook followed with a lead uppercut against the bully (Alex preferred knockout combination).
Once Ciel learned he was a demigod and returned home for the fall season of school he was put into an official martial arts school. The Sifu was a regular at Alex’s restaurant and learned from him the bare minimum of Ciel circumstances. The need to protect himself from bullies but doing it efficiently. Ciel would be introduced to his Sifu, a Wing Chun/Kali practitioner, and would be training everyday so he could improve his precious and sensitive but giving him the ability to learn to sharpen his battle reflexes. The son of Hecate prior boxing training and summer at Camp Half Blood sharpened his skills for unorthodox scenarios.
Ciel excelled more in hand to hand combat than he did with weapons which when applied with his powers and magic made him a deadlier foe as he grew older. By the time he was eighteen, he was on the verge of reaching disciple hood among his peers at his school. Training year round had accelerated the curriculum to above the average martial art student, but given his life as a demigod it made it all the more important to train harder than the rest of his peers.
Ciel third and fourth teachers were close friends of his, Clara Atalanta Ostá (daughter of Hades and Guardian) and Pollen Vice (Egyptian Magician and Host of Serqet), both of whom were imperative to helping him complete his fighting style (property of @mastrmiscellaneous). Clara is a master swordsman whose skills would give the prodigy of the era (Percy Jackson) a run for his money and more. She did not allow Ciel to neglect weapons training as she sparred with him daily at camp and gave intense critique on his skills improvement or lack there of. Pollen Vice, Ciel met during the Battle of Manhattan offered him a chance to train with Brooklyn House after the conflict. The Host of Serqet taught Ciel how magic training is imperative and how raw magic is more problematic than it is necessary.
