i actually really like this idea!! also im so so sorry it took me so long to get to this </3!! ive kinda been focusing on art these past few days, and when i havent been drawing ive kinda been. laying in my own. feelings. sleepy.... yk how it is!!

with that said! yeah! i wont be doing all the bare bones list of characters i usually do with non specified characters! to keep true with the prompt im going to stick with characters i feel would like this kind of S/O and/or compliment the readers fierce nature... also going to aim for a more comedic style

he would rather you tone it down, or at least dont fight for him... he doesnt want you to get hurt, or in trouble..! mostly trouble, he knows you can handle yourself

he wont ever say it but hes internally swooning anytime you fight for him, though. like. "oh? they would do this for me just because someone said something vaguely mean about me?"... hes red in the face

tries to introduce you to new people to make potential friends since he kinda thinks part of your bloodlust(/j) is from loneliness, which in turn makes people see you as.. mean... so its a loop. he doesnt mean it in a bad way! he just cares about your well being!

overall he secretly thinks its hot but hed rather you stay out of trouble and hed try to find ways to make you less fierce...

Laughing Jack;

like splendorman he thinks its hot but he WILL vocalize it

also he thinks its really funny whenever people try to antagonize you

pulls a bag of popcorn out of thin air and watches the show/hj

he will literally cheer for you from the sidelines and becomes the fights personal announcer

absolutely treats you when you win; showered in praise and love and gifts

hes flustered; depending on what color you think he blushes (personally i think he blushes a purpleish-grey), his entire face is that color when he watches it happen

really yall are kinda the same but hoodie is more likely to sit back and access the situation before jumping in and fighting someone unless like. its an immediate life or death thing

now how does he feel about you being a proclaimed badass?

he respects it, and he knows that you can defend yourself when hes not around so it also puts him at ease

maybe you two will spar every now and then to get better at defense and offense stuff (he will not go easy on you btw, bro will give it his all)

Eyeless Jack;

he doesnt really like the fighting since hes also likely the one who has to patch you up afterwards. like even if you win the fight youre still going to be hurt in some way, this applies to all the other characters too. ej is just the only one who has the knowledge when it comes to tending wounds...

with ej, in my au, he doesnt really. like conflict, especially since his own body is changing into something that isnt human; he already has enough on his plate already, doesnt need to go bury an extra body because he let his temper get the better of him

and every now and then, that mindset of avoiding conflict bleeds to how he views you and your attitude

hes happy that you can defend yourself, like hoodie he admires it; but at the same time he gets so scared that youre going to pick a fight with the wrong person or get hit in the wrong spot, and..

he does not pity those who are dumb enough to rile you up, though..

overall he worries for you and already has enough on his plate with himself ... but dont think that he sees tending to you as a burden! hell do it regardless of what caused your injury

There's also clips where jane and hoshi doesn't want to hold hands or even look at each other during a performance... the reason for their fights? we never know 🤫 • Even though, Jane got frustrated a lot because of Hoshi's nagging during dance practices, she's very thankful for him. There are sooo many clips of her saying "Our synchronization can't be questioned when you're coach is Hoshi oppa" • Never. I mean. NEVER. put them side by side when they're out drinking. • Jun and Jane both like walking at night and exploring cafes or restaurant. • Jun's always made fun of Jane when she's crying (in a good way). But, then again, he's going to be the one who offer his own t-shirt to be used as an emergency napkin when there's no towel/tissue/napkin nearby. • Jane loveeess being around him. She said there's just something about him. If, "I'm dying without you. When are you coming back?" is a person... it would be Jane 1000% (especially when jun's away to film in China). • "I feel like no words could express how i appreciate Jun oppa. Jun oppa is someone that you would love to have in your life. I love you brother. And happy birthday". With just that sentence that comes from Jane's mouth in a video during a concert where she can't attend because of her sickness, Jun cried like a river. and it was the perfect time for jane to get her comeback and made fun of him.

There were times that caught carat's attention that her lockscreen is actually Dino's childhood photo. • "You will never want to know the feeling of having to handle both Jane and Dino when they're drunk." that's what Jeonghan kept saying to carats :) Both Dino and Jane will be sooo clingy towards each other and without no doubt, she babied him more. That makes them both live in their own world.

Not gonna lie, when I was reading the second part of your ask I thought “oh, Trey I guess?” and then you hit me with Ortho and I screamed. A boy who only uses condoms because he finds them sexy and has no other reason to wear them whatsoever because he is a robot + a boy who should use condoms but got so used to being taken without them that he feels underwhelmed and sexy when it’s used. What a combo indeed. It also reminded me about that one Ortho vignette in which he gave Silver his medical attention…

Sorry for the late reply, Anon! And probably for a disappointing one.

I thought I would come up with something more interesting, but to be honest combining Overblotted boys with each other is a bit difficult to me; it’s much easier to imagine them visually, but coming up with possible interactions is more tricky, especially considering the nature of the whole overblot thing and Ortho’s phantom specifically – his whole being is way too attached to Idia (literally). Maybe I’m overthinking and overcomplicating it though, I tend to do that…

Maybe Phantom Ortho could trigger a relapse in all the previously overblotted boys. And Ortho did seem upset when Vil denied his invitation to join his and his beloved Idia’s new world…

Visually though, it would look pretty good; their designs are two of my absolute favourites :(

Some people probably don’t; we personally like it, despite usually hating on this type of trope. We are huge haters of the whole “aww they’re family” thing in general lol

But with Pomefiore it hits different somehow. Maybe it’s because the family thing is not the only thing that they have + their interactions and relationship between all three of them in general are complex and interesting, and the family trope doesn’t simplify any of it (Plus, this won’t stop us from liking Rook/Epel...) I won’t talk too much about it though, since this doesn’t exactly answer your question.

You know, Anon, I think there is a reason why we don’t see these two interact: the Universe won’t let them, because we won’t survive this lol Both are so chaotic that you’d never guess how exactly it would go with them. Just like you said, they could annoy Riddle together and get along surprisingly well, but could also act like two boy hamsters in one cage if you know what I mean.

A lot of it depends on Floyd actually. I feel like Che’nya is pretty chill and playful all the time, and if he gets bored he just leaves. But Floyd gets annoyed and fussy… So if he likes the weird partially invisible flying dude, they would become besties. But if he doesn’t, he would be super irritated by him lol

Madara: Well then, Kuro-san. I’d like to clearly establish the details of our match one last time. 

The match will be held four days from now, in the afternoon.

This activity will be part of the events lined up to promote BUTOUKAI, so there’ll be some filming on-site, but other than that, the rules will follow those of the actual CROSS FIRE bouts. 

The use of weapons is prohibited. Attacks to the back of the head and vital areas are prohibited. Biting and scratching are prohibited too, but other than that, anything goes. 

The player who KO's his opponent in 10 rounds wins—Do you have objections to any of that?

Kuro: Nope, I’m down with all that. Ya better take good care of yerself so you don’t get hurt, you hear?

But then again~, this is for the sake of our much-anticipated Shuffle Unit after all, so why not pull out all the stops?  

It’d be such a let-down if Kiryu-senpai were to one-sidedly dominate the match. If we could add some colour to liven up that practice match of BUTOUKAI’s, we can probably expect the viewership ratings to increase, won’t we? 

Haha~! To think I’m actually using words like ‘increase viewership ratings’ when I’m really clueless about how to go about doing it. If Ibara—who’s an expert in that field—were to hear me, he’d probably burst out laughing, huh~?

Madara: Nope. They may be amateur ideas, but even so, that is the work that’s expected of us. 

We’ll make up for that lack with enthusiasm! Let’s get started with training right away, Inexperienced Trio!

Chapter 3

Pairings: Max Burnett x Original Female Character

Summary: Violet was an expert. She could pick em, play em and win em. She was taught by the best. Conning was an art to her and she had a taste for it. But when she comes to visit her father and his new partner, she aims for the biggest mark she's ever seen.

Violet woke the next morning, a slight pounding in her head and the bright sun gleaming through the gap in the curtains wasn’t helping. She instantly regretted swigging back that whiskey but in the heat of the moment she needed it.  Max could be so overprotective of her and sometimes it irritated Violet to her core. She wasn’t his little girl anymore. The guest bedroom was amazing. A huge double bed with some of the softest sheets she’d ever slept on. It reminded her of the time she first slept in a real bed compared to the piece of wood with a hard mattress she spent most of her life on. It was one of her darkest times and she didn’t want to go there right now.

The room was decorated with greys, whites, and blacks, with little décor here and there, filling the largeness of the room. There was a sweet scent of vanilla coming from a pretty diffuser on a shelf and the view was to die for. Looking out onto the beautiful city of Manhattan and the sun directly in its eyeline. Violet made the effort to roll out of bed, her pyjama t-shirt and flowy trousers falling with grace to the floor. Normally she would have snuggled back in the covers but being a guest, she figured she should be polite enough to say good morning to her father and the wicked witch.

Her hair was completely free of the curls and there were sunken bags under her eyes. A splash of water brought her back to life and she brushed her teeth of the sticky furriness from the whiskey and drinks she had last night. She searched her bag with a rustle and found what she needed. Popping the cap to her medication bottle, she poured out a tiny white pill and swallowed it with ease. She remembered when she used to struggle with this, almost throwing them up when she first started taking them but now, she was an expert. Today she made a mental note of no alcohol. Anymore and she could have an episode.

Padding out into the hallway, her feet slapping against the wooden floors, she arrived closer to the kitchen where she heard voices talking softly.

“I’m sorry again for last night, I hope the guest didn’t hear any of that” her father said, and Violet stopped just behind the wall, listening closely.

Max and Madeline sat at the breakfast table, an array of foods and drinks laid out neatly. Max was dressed in a fine suit fo black and white, his hair neat and bouncy. Madeline too was dressed in a smart suit, hers grey with a white blouse underneath. Her hair was straight and glossy, and she wore a light layer of makeup. It was clear Madeline was older, by the wrinkles and bags under her eyes and her freckles more prominent. Max was at least fifteen years younger but that didn’t mean anything for them. Age was just a number. Madeline’s first husband unfortunately died of cancer twenty years ago and they didn’t have any kids. It was something she wanted but didn’t have the chance. Her business kept her busy however and after a long and painful grieving process, she bumped into Max. It was almost like a fairy tale, a classic bump into one another and a look in each other’s eyes set of the spark in both of them. Max kept her feeling younger than she is and his constant compliments kept her smiling every day. Of course, she hadn’t forgotten Michael, her first love but she was happy and that’s all he would have wanted. He said himself he didn’t want her moping every day when he was gone.

“Max it’s fine, honestly, you’re only looking out for her” Madeline smiled, and Max hummed, smiling as well.

“What happened to her apartment again?” she asked, pouring herself a cup of tea.

“She said there’s been a rat infestation, and everyone’s been forced out. I wish she had told me though before coming” he grumbled slightly.

“She can stay as long as she wants, it might be a good time for us to get to know each other, I hope” Madeline said with an easy voice and Max reached over, grabbing her hand, and giving it a squeeze.

“Don’t worry it’s not you, she’s always been like this whenever I’ve been with other people. After her mom died, it was just us two for so long and when I finally was able to move on, she couldn’t handle it. That’s when she got sick, the seizures started happening. For a while they calmed down but then she started behaving recklessly and then they started again” he said sadly.

“Is that why she can’t drink?” Madeline asked and Max nodded.

“The medication can have an effect with alcohol which is why I’m always on edge when she drinks. I tell her she shouldn’t, and she knows she shouldn’t but she’s my daughter and of course she doesn’t want to listen to her father” he slightly smiled at the end.

“What does she do for work?” Madeline asked curiously as Max sipped his coffee smacking his lips at the rich taste.

“She was working with a marketing company, marketing fashion but they moved their offices out of state which was too bad because she was so happy there. Then she worked in a high-end store, but the epilepsy meant she had to be supervised and it didn’t work out and then she had another job, but it didn’t stick” Max explained.

“So how does she live?” it was hard to believe a bright and beautiful girl like Violet couldn’t hold a job.

“Her mother left her some money and I help her from time to time” he confessed, and Madeline smiled softly, reaching for his hand.

“Of course, you do, she’s your little girl” Max chuckled.

“Yes, she is. Although it doesn’t much feel like that anymore. I want her to be independent but at the same time I can’t sit and watch her live like that”.

Violet had heard enough and pushed herself off the wall, appearing into the kitchen. Madeline was the first to catch her and smile widely while Max turned in surprise to see her.

“Morning sweetheart” he said.

“Morning daddy” Violet greeted.

“How did you sleep?” he asked.

“Good thank you, the rooms amazing” she murmured.

“Do you want some breakfast Violet” Madeline asked, and she nodded slowly, padding over to the empty seat beside her father. She scraped the chair against the tiled floor, sitting down slowly as she felt a crook in her neck. Madeline grabbed a plate and handed it to Violet, who thanked her quietly.

“Okay well I better go, I have a meeting at ten, I’ll see you later” he stood from his seat, checking his watch briefly before leaning over and kissing Madeline softly and slowly, his hand wrapping around her neck.

“Bye, love you” she whispered, and he grinned before leaning over and pecking Violet’s head. Violet smiled, falling into his sweet kiss. She hoped Madeline might feel jealous.

“Bye sweetie” he whispered and tapped her shoulder before heading off to work. The room fell silent, and Madeline stared at the newspaper in front of her, flicking through as she sipped her tea. She couldn’t help feeling a little intimidated by Violet. Any woman would be when their partners daughter clearly doesn’t like them and their trying to make it work but she was surprised when she heard her name.

“Madeline” Violet said softly, and she looked up.

“I’m sorry about yesterday, I had a lot to drink, and my epilepsy medication can sometimes make me act out. hope I didn’t cause too much of a scene” she smiled awkwardly, and Madeline shook her head, waving her hand about.

“Of course not, it’s fine, Your father told me about your epilepsy” of course he did.

“You know I was thinking I need to get a new outfit for this benefit I’m doing in a few weeks, and I wondered if you wanted to come shopping with me later. You have such good taste in clothes and old me is probably getting out a date a bit. Perhaps we can finally get to know each other a bit better. And I’m not saying that to make me sound like a stepmother or anything, so you don’t have to worry” she laughed softly at the end and Violet thought for a moment. Did she really want to spend the day with the wicked witch.

“Thank you, but I think I’ll just stay and rest for today… maybe tomorrow” she offered and Madeline grinned.

“Sure, tomorrow is great. I’ll pencil you in” she grabbed her diary next to her, flicking to the date and Violet couldn’t help but roll her eyes slightly but quickly covered it with a smile. It wasn’t something she wanted to do but it had to be done.

Dancing Peacock

Peacocks display a stunning dance of feathers to win over the hearts of their mates. Humans have no use for such dances, but swordplay has always been a form of displaying a beautiful and powerful art of movements and skill, as well as alluring mannerisms

Each of his movements were elegantly executed, fighting back Corruptors as the pair began their awaited escape. Baden couldn't stop staring, watching Thane move was like watching the same play over and over again, finding new and interesting details each time. No matter how hard he tried, Baden couldn't keep his eyes off the other, even when Corruptors still fought against him, the knight always found himself drawn to the movements of his partner. Alas, he couldn't stare for long as they cut down the last of the Corruptors, Thane jogging over to offer him his hand before they both flew away with the wind, leaving behind their battle in favor of retreating for now.

Once they had landed safely, Thane was exhausted, Baden was sure of it, and though the swordsman had told him off countless times that he was fine, the knight was finally able to convince him to lay down and take a moment of peace. He couldnt free the image of Thane's swordplay from his mind, it's been forever aince he'd last been able to fight alongside him and it's no wonder his old habits of watching the other have come back to the forefront. Thane was mesmerizing, and the new outfit didn't help either.

Peacocks were a symbol of power and divinity, so it was no wonder the swordsman new look represented just that. Just how his cape would come up un a shielding manner during each of his attacks, Thane always looked like a peacock fanning its feathers in defense. But Baden soon started to notice how often he would -consciously or not- fan out the cape when they were alone together, whether it be during their times resting or casually battling like the old days,  Baden was certain Thane was showing off or trying too.

So, after Thane had rested, returning his strength, Baden had politely asked him if he wanted to train for a few rounds, which Thane had accepted. Their battles had soon turned from casual swordpaly, witty banter, and casual flirtations to Thane resting his head over the knights chest with a sigh, his single hand interlocked with Baden's as their swayed. Both spear and sword layed aside as the two held eachother, enjoying the others company and Baden wondering how they'd come to this peaceful embrace.

"Thane…" The only response he got in turn was a quiet hum, the swordsman relaxing against him and turning his attention up to stare into the eyes of his lover. Baden had to clear his throat at the peaceful expression the other wore, his body so relaxed and calm for being around someone so dangerous, not that he was anymore -that much he hoped- due to finally breaking free from his less then enjoyable life as "the abomination".

"You remind me of a peacock sometimes.." Silence, and Baden almost panicked, he didnt mean for it to come out as rudely as it had, but he struggled to backtrack before Thane started chuckling, breaking his calm stern composure in favor of a laughing mess.

"Its the cape, isnt it? Youre not the first to make that connection, Talene said the same thing, though more out of annoyance then intruige.. She told me I was "distracting" I didnt have the heart to care at the time to tell her off, but now that you bring it up…" Thane sighs, but he's still smiling when his knight tilts his head to look down at him. In the time they've been reunited, Baden's surprised the swordsman hadnt told him this earlier, though, they've only been able to share small moments of safety before being forced to flee from Corruptors.

"She was right about one thing.. you're very distracting" Baden snorts at the playful punch he receives, Thane staring up at him with a playfully annoyed expression.

"I could say the same about you, showing off your chest, the scandel" They both burst into laughter, Baden burying his flustered laughter in Thane's hair as the swordsman chuckles into his shoulder.

Their shared laughter soon subsides as hold one another, Baden sneaking a kiss to his partners forehead and pulling the other as humanly close to himself as possible. There was no way he was going to let his peacock go now that he had him back, now that they were together again, as one, there would be nothing that could seperate them, and he'd be dawmmed if he let it happen. As they both come down from shared laughter, Thane returns to gently swaying with his knight, their hands -in Thane's case, hand- come together once again as they swayed like an old married couple, enjoying their closeness to the music of forest around them.

"Its not just the cape, your confidence while fighting plays the largest role…" Baden mumbles, listening to Thane rumble a hum against him and looking up to catch the other in a caste kiss, the sudden warmth against the knights lips sending a shudder through his cooler frame. "Is that so?" Trailing kisses from his lips to just under his jaw, Thane's eyes are locked to his own, Baden swallows the frog threatening to spring up through his throat.

"You're undeniably beautiful when you fight, battle like a peacock dances" A bit poetic, but Baden knew it was the right thing to say, even if Thane teased him about it later, theyve both said oddly poetic things around eachother many times, might as well at to the ever growing table.

Thane doesnt speak, but his movements speak louder then words ever would. Their lips meet once more, locking together gently in a harmony theyve both longed for far longer then either would like to admit. For the rest of their evening, they spend it together, hugged to one another in comfortable silence and adoration, appriacting eachother for the time they have.

The dance of a peacock is enchantingly beautiful, wouldnt you agree?

1. How many works do you have on Ao3?

110 currently.

2. What's your total Ao3 word count?

249,772. Which is a whole heck of a lot more than I ever thought I'd write. (70k of those were in the last year, which is pretty amazing for me when I think about it.)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

At present, primarily Fate the Winx Saga, with a side of House of the Dragon on occasion. I tend to be a serially monogamous fangirl, but right now that seems to have an Eve Best asterisk. A number of others previously, most recently BBC's Musketeers.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Never and Always (Musketeers, post-S2 Milathos-centric canon-divergence AU, also the longest thing I've written for posting ... or possibly ever?)

A Pear and an Apple (X-Men comicverse, Kitty Pryde, for Jewish Comics Day)

Lessons (Musketeers prompt fic that just kept going; me writing completely against type except insofar as I am a people pleaser)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to! I'm consistently pretty far behind, but I like to try to show appreciation for the people who take the time to comment. (Whether I do or not, commenters are a gift and I love you all.)

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oh dear god. Considering my predilections, I'm not even sure what would win -- considering I've used the angst tag 26 times, there are definitely a few contenders (and in hindsight, there's things without that tag which could count). I think I'd probably put it as a toss-up between let's pretend i'm a man (because in my head it does not end well) and that thunder in your lungs (despite the tag I wrote later). (Despite the death count, I would not give it to who shall i say is calling?, mostly because canon?)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably gonna give that to the fading year. Is this in large part because of @anne-in-dreamland's ridiculously soft and gorgeous art for that last scene? Entirely possible. 💙

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Rarely. I feel like I write niche enough fandoms that it's not commonplace, at least. The occasional ones I've gotten have felt more bewildered than really hateful. (Hate commenting is bad, people. Do something better with your time.)

9. Do you write smut?

I didn't for the longest time, but was convinced to try in my last fandom and found I actually enjoy the challenge -- though I have to be in the right frame of mind and it has to fit what I'm writing. There's a puzzle to both the headspaces and the words, and I like trying to figure that out.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Also rarely. I have a couple that made it to AO3, and both were with the Sandman comics, which lend themselves well to that.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of, which hopefully means never.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Again, not that I'm aware of -- I don't mind the idea but find the idea of it being done without explicit permission to be unaccptable. (I've had one fic podficced, which was such a flattering request.)

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Only one, for the March Madness challenge on the Winxsource server ... and I don't know if I'd call that co-writing given the blind activity and the crack. The two collaborations I have posted were for RBB, with some wonderful artist partners.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I refuse to choose. All of my idiot children are precious emotinally-constipated morons.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Oof. The easy answer would be Between Midnight and Dawn; the framework is all sketched out, but thanks to the circumstances I hit such egregious writer's block on it that I don't think I'll ever be able to go back and finish it. This makes me sad, because I've got some parts of future scenes written out that I love, and I very much liked the concept and that (entirely unplanned) AU and how it took on a life of its own, and the fandom was so lovely and supportive, but ... alas, no. On an unposted front, I'm beginning to realise I will probably never actually write the House of the Dragon AU where Rhaenys and Meleys limp home after Rook's Rest and everything changes as a result. Intentions good, but the distractions are infinite, and right now they show no sign of flagging.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I like to think that I handle emotional beats and introspection fairly well, and I enjoy playing with word choice and sentence structure -- which people respond to positively, so let's go with that.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Action, my behated. Extended dialogue, my equally behated. Plot, my kryptonite. And yet. (If you know, you know.)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Depends on the length of it, whether translation is necessary (or the requisite understanding can be inferred), and how it fits. It has its place, but it has to be handled carefully or it can really be unpleasantly jarring.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Star Trek (TNG, mostly). In pencil, on notebook paper, starting in my preteen years, and lost to the ages ... which is probably for the best.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Once again, I refuse to choose, because I'm certain that once I do I'll think of another one I love. Each and every thing I've written has had a purpose: to get something out of my brain, to explore an idea, to push myself to grow as a writer ... As long as I got something out of it, and hopefully someone (or someones, even better!) enjoyed it, that's good enough for me.

A Letter For Little Me

This is also posted on my Medium blog, along with other writings of mine!

A letter as a trans man who's about to get my top surgery tomorrow. I decided to sit and write a letter for my younger self, and I figured I'd share it in case anyone else may find comfort in it/relate to any of what's said.

  Dear Little Me, 

  It’s Casper, aka you from 2023. Hope you like the name we’ve chosen! We’re now 27, and tomorrow is a very big day for us: we’re getting top surgery tomorrow!

  We’ve wanted this for quite a while, huh? Over ten years we’ve wanted this change. Over ten years we’ve wanted to make this body really feel like ours, and now it’s finally happening. I hope you’re not disappointed in how long it took, but are rather excited to know that it will in fact happen!

  For a long time we’ve struggled to feel at home in our body, we’ve struggled to identify with our birth name, we’ve struggled to connect with the life that many of the adults around us expected for us to live. We’ve lived on such a tight leash with such a painful muzzle for so long, I know it’s hard to imagine a life without it. I promise you: we will free ourselves, and we will make this body a true home for ourselves.

  As I prepare us for tomorrow, I remember how we used to cry to mom at night about hating our chest and our painful menstrual cycles. We would beg for mama to help us, working towards a breast reduction or getting on birth control to alleviate the pains, to alleviate the dysphoria.. she did what she could, but it never felt like enough. We didn’t know at the time, but our gender dysphoria was trying to communicate to us that something was off. You did the right thing to listen to the feeling, and I am so sorry that so many of the adults around you made it feel unsafe to be even more open about it. But I want you to know: there are adults who love and support you, I promise you that those adults will continue to fight for you in the ways that they can.

  We’re no longer in Indiana, we escaped! We moved to Florida for a while, but that wasn’t the place for us. In fact, Florida got worse than Indiana was in some ways. While being there led to many amazing and wonderfully life-changing experiences, we also would have been unsafe to stay. Us and our polycule (wife, boyfriend, and queer-platonic partner/QPP) are all now safely in Oregon. It’s like the best of both worlds: we live in a rural farm town again, but it’s far more liberal and diverse than in Indiana. We’re also still in contact with many of our Indy friends, even as many of them flock and flee to other parts of the world- or those who have stayed in Indiana to continue the fight to make things better. We’ve also made many wonderful new friends and have built a new family for ourselves.

  I know it can be hard to imagine, but we pursued what we really wanted to do: we’re an actor! You grow up to become a voice actor for podcasts, an award-winning script writer and stage performer, we’re doing drag shows as a pageant-crowned drag king, and we’re helping host murder mystery parties as we PRETEND to be a detective… I know you never wanted to actually be an officer of the law, and I promise we’ll never be forced into that role. In fact: we’re staunchly ACAB. (I promise you’ll learn what that means sooner rather than later). You never wanted to go into the military, and you did the right thing by backing out of that by any means necessary. I know it seems like dad’s plan for you is the only option that you have, but it is not, and we’re living a far better life than we could have imagined.

  Now that we’re in Oregon, we’re able to spend our time making art and helping fellow queer and disabled people.

  Before you fight me on it: honey, we’re disabled. No matter what dad said about health, we are disabled and that is a-okay… Our body and brain need more care, and I promise you’ll get the care you need. Our new doctor is wonderful and we have a medical team that believes us. We are not weak or lazy, we’re ill and our body needs extra care- like Sarah, ours is just harder to see than hers.

  We’re able to work with our friends and partners to make art and create resources for folks in need. We’re able to connect with people like us, or people that are so different from ourselves that it opens our eyes to brand new ways of life, and we’re made all the better for it. We’re able to help kids who grew up like us to live better and happier lives, we’re able to meet people much older than us who have so much wisdom about life that we’re finally able to receive.

  Unfortunately, mama is gone now… I promise you: it is not your fault. We knew that she would die before us, likely while we were young… but it isn’t the end of the world when that happens. It hurts, but we survive. Make the most of your time with her while you can, and when she’s gone we’ll find new ways to communicate and contact her. Our witchcraft is still very important to us, and it allows us to become even closer to our mama than we ever believed possible. You need time without her to work on yourself, and you’ll eventually be able to have a healthier relationship with her.

  Dad’s gone too, but not in the same way. We finally had the strength to cut him out of our life. You don’t need to worry about him, he’ll be okay. Cutting him out is going to be the best thing you could do for yourself. It’ll hurt and be hard, but it’s going to be such a freeing and liberating experience. He can’t control our life, he can’t force us into anything we don’t want to do, he can’t keep us in a box anymore. I promise you: life is so much better without him tugging on the leash or tightening the muzzle anymore. You will miss him and the good times with him, but you’ll find far better parental figures over time. And you’ll also find out that you are not the only person that he mistreated, and many adults did see how he was treating you as bad. You’ll have more allies than you could imagine, you’re not alone.

  Tomorrow is our first gender-affirming operation. We have the medical support we need for it, we have a community of loved ones helping us through, and we have the insurance and finances to afford it. We still are fighting to get other medical needs met, but it is infinitely better than it was in Indiana.

  As of right now, I don’t have much more to say. I still need to set up our recovery space and make sure the home is clean before I become unable to do chores for a while. But I wanted to give you a sliver of hope that things will get better, and I’m sure I’ll write more letters to you over time.

  Thank you for holding on and continuing to fight, I promise it’ll all be worth it. We’re still fighting for better, but we’re not doing it alone anymore.

  I love you, hun. I promise you’re doing great, and you’ll come to love yourself in time. Be kind to yourself until then, you’ve gone through a lot.

❝Pass Me The Controller❞

Lee(s): human turned video game character! Chenle

Ler(s): human! Jisung

Small Synopsis: being Chenle's gaming partner can be very frustrating at times, but when his best friend gets trapped within the walls of a corrupt video game they bought at the game store - Jisung decides to take revenge before lending a helping hand like usual.

Yells and sounds of competition ring throughout the apartment. It was a Saturday afternoon. And on Saturdays, Chenle and Jisung spent the morning running errands so they could play video games in the afternoon. Currently, Jisung sits on the floor - head resting against Chenle's knee, who is seated on the couch mashing the buttons of his controller, as he releases a sigh of defeat. "You always win at this game, Chenle, can't we play something else?" Jisung pouts and glances up at the male who's still shrieking happily at his victory.

Chenle smirks and shakes his head "No way! I love winning!" he chortles as he goes to load up another round. "Besides, you're just really bad! If you practiced more you could have a chance," he stated in a tone that was akin to teasing. Jisung huffs and snatches the controller from Chenle's grasp. "If we play this all afternoon, we won't be able to play the new game we bought this morning!" he groans and Chenle gasps. "Oh! You're right! I forgot about that game, what was it called again? "Glitch Mode" or something like that,," he mumbles as he searches through the still unpacked bags from that morning's shopping venture to pull out the game's box.

The front of the box was strange, the art displayed five characters that looked somehow familiar to Chenle. The location they were standing in was strange, too. A blue background with a very fake looking lawn that was in front of a tech store similar to the one he and Jisung had purchased the game from. The game's title "Glitch Mode" was also strange to him, since the store's title had been "Glitch" just like the one on the front of the box. Strange. Maybe the workers there had made an indie game? But the guy at the counter, nametag saying "Jaemin" as far as Chenle can recall, didn't seem to recognize the game at all.

Whatever, he thinks, since Jisung is telling him to put the disk in. The younger male had seated himself on the couch now, the two controllers waiting in his hands. Chenle frowns and blinks a few times as he stares at the back of the box. There was no gameplay details on the back, which was really, really strange. "The only thing it does say on the back of the box is that it's singleplayer only, so we'll have to take turns," Chenle explains as he pulls out the disk, swapping it for the game they were previously playing. He giggles a bit as Jisung grumbles, putting his own controller down on the ground.

When the game flashes to its title screen, it's also very strange. Chenle was sensing a pattern as he sat back down with his controller in hand. "There are four options, but one's crossed out..." Chenle states in confusion as if they both weren't looking at the screen. The four options displayed were:

->Options

->Exit Game

->Reset Characters

"What the heck does "Reset Characters" mean?" Jisung asks with a frown. His roommate shrugs his shoulders "I guess we'll find out, let's just press play,"

Tapping "play" appeared to be a mistake. Their screen starts to shake, even more strange - Chenle thought - their TV screen doesn't usually do that. The screen flashes a bright white and by some force of magnetic attraction, Chenle is being pulled forward from the couch and being sucked into the TV screen. This was a new realm of strange. "Ah! Jisung,, help!" he shrieks as his legs are pulled forward. Jisung gasps, clinging onto his roommates hands as he tries to pull him from the screen. His attempts are futile, however, as Chenle is sucked further and further into the TV.

Before Jisung could even process it, his roommate had disappeared from the room entirely, his controller laying on the floor and his presence nowhere to be seen. The youngest panics as he grapples for the game box, staring at it in awe when he notices something new. Chenle was on the game's box art! So that means... "Choose Your Character!" a voice from the game echoes, startling Jisung nearly half to death. His eyes glance up at the screen and they widen comically. On the screen before him were the profiles of those five guys at the tech store,,, the only catch was,,, his best friend was there too. "Oh my gosh," Jisung squeaks. "Jisung?" Chenle's voice sounds the same, but it's very daunting to hear it from the speakers of the TV instead of next to him.

"Oh thank goodness, you're still okay in there?" Jisung asks in exasperation. "Yeah, I think so... try and go to the character reset to get me out!" Chenle suggests, his profile on screen not moving at all as he spoke. The younger male had a different idea.. "Pass me the controller," Jisung says to nobody in a determined tone. He picks up the controller and selects Chenle as his character. Well he wasn't expecting this kind of game. There were no details on the back of the box, so Jisung didn't know what to expect. He certainly didn't expect this. Chenle is on the screen, presented just how he might be in real life, except his arms are suspended over his head. "Ji,, what are you doing? Go back.. get me out of here!" Chenle complains, but as soon as Jisung sees the X Button's prompt he grins evilly.

"I think it's time I get you back for beating me in all of those games, Le," he says simply and Chenle raises him a brow. "What is the game about exactly?" he tilts his head to the side. "Well... let's see here.... it says "Press X to tickle him <3" so,, let's see what that does~" Jisung playfully sings, listening to his best friend's protests turn to bright, bubbly laughter in the span of a few moments. By pressing the X Button, it seems Jisung had caused a pair of gray, ghost-like hands to spider up and down Chenle's tummy. "Awh... The options here are so cute!" The Korean teases as Chenle helplessly giggles. "Ehehhahahahaa~! Nohohoho mahahahahake ihihihit stohohop!"

"Make it stop?~ But, LeLe," Jisung starts in a playful tone. "I have so many options available! I can press A to feather tickle you... I can press Y to give you the sensation of tummy kisses... not to mention all of the places I can already tickle you right now!" Jisung explains with a smirk as he moves the control stick upwards to tickle Chenle's ribs, making the male absolutely shriek at the attention. "wAAHAahahahaahaait! Jihihihihisung I'm sohohohorry!! Pleheheheease chahahange me bahahaack!" Chenle pleads cutely, the smile on his face somehow growing wider as Jisung presses the option to tauntingly pluck his ribs.

Poor Chenle is in hysterics by Jisung's every move. Every button press sends him further into ticklish torment. Feathers swipe across the soft skin of his tummy whilst he still feels fingers scratching at his underarms. "Thihihis ihihis sOHOHOHO UNFAHAHAAIR!-" Chenle squawks out through his laughter as his ticklish body is at the mercy of the player, one Park Jisung. He couldn't move at all, except from the minimal squirming he could do. His arms were stuck firmly above his head and no amount of squirming he was doing could move his shirt back down to cover his tummy so that he could have at least a little protection.

Chenle barks out even louder laughter when the younger male teases his belly button rather meanly. "Pl-Plehehehheheease, Jihihihisung! Hahahhahaave meehehheercy!" The helpless lee whines out before dissolving into light giggles again as he feels tracing at his lower tummy. He couldn't handle this much tickling in real life! He's wondering how he can even handle it in a video game..

Jisung hums, leaning back against the bottom of the couch as he lets Chenle have a breather (though he doesn't think that the Chinese male necessarily needs it in this game, since Jisung was supposed to mercilessly tickle him until the bar at the side of the screen had filled) "Let's try one more spot, shall we? Then I'll let you go.." Jisung says with a grin. After pressing the prompt, Chenle feels a light sensation against his scalp which makes him immediately burst into giggles. "Mhmhmahhaa nooohohohooo! Eeheee ahahaa it's sohohohoho muhuhuch worse!" Chenle squeals as the fingertips gently brush over his scalp. "Awh.. can't take it? Tickle tickle..." Jisung teases with a little giggle of his own.

Eventually Jisung has tried all of the prompts and he fills up the meter beside his ticklish best friend. The game is over and he's back at the title screen. With a smile he chuckles "Ah, that's what "Character Reset" means, got it," he nods. It's a feature only unlocked after the game has been beaten with one character. He clicks the option and right before his eyes, Chenle appears back in the room with him, still a little sweaty after Jisung gave him such a hard time. "There you are you little brat, c'mere!" Chenle hisses and dives for his younger roommate. Someone clears their throat and it grabs the two roommates' attention. "Uh, hi? I guess we were in the game too? I think?" The guy who's nametag read "Mark" speaks up sheepishly. "Oh, yeah I guess you were... what's up?" Chenle greets. Jisung only had a moment to wonder what the seventh empty character slot was all about before being dragged into a conversation with the newcomers about the game.

I am laying in my hammock at camp and I am super comfy. Which is excellent because I am also super dizzy and I do not know why. I did not mean to spend the last few hours just laying here but that's basically all I did. I am very excited to go to sleep.

Today was a good day though. Not as much stupid waiting. I felt like I got stuff done. It wasn't a perfect day but it was good.

I sort of remember James saying goodbye this morning. And then my alarm went off and I was just so sad about getting up. I ached all over. I didn't like the outfit I had chosen. The outfit I ended up with was good though. The main problem was I was cold. It was very chilly today. The cardigan was a good choice. Very soft. And I headed out to go get Jeniya and Dame.

And they both came but while me and Jeniya were on time, Dame was running late and would get to us at almost 830. Which was frustrating. I let Celia know and she offered to get my breakfast and that was super kind of her. And we didn't end up being as late as I feared.

It was a busy morning. We had a few different chats. About homesickness, counselors in training, and bullying. And then it was a lie about a 10 minute break. Which I was just not going to believe this time.

So I went up to arts and did a few things. I had a few things to put away. And after like 15 minutes I went to see Celia. And that was another 10 minutes. And then I went back to the lodge and they still weren't doing anything so I bailed. Back to arts until lunch.

I got two more posters done. I'm pretty happy with them. And finally got people to come and move my picnic table back. I was very happy.

I would go get lunch after that. But again I had a weird interaction with the kitchen. I was sent in to ask about the vegetarian option and they were snippy at me about you'll get it when you get it, but then also saying it's at the end of the line and I didn't understand. And I just felt tears in my eyes again. I don't understand why they make me so upset. Is it because I feel like they are treating me both like I'm stupid and a burden? Yes. And the vegetarian option was already out they just didn't label it and it was fine, a weird stir fry. And I don't think their were onions at least.

I mostly ate potato salad. Which was good. And waited for the CPR class to start. Which of course was late, because everything is. But honestly I really enjoyed the class even though it was stressful. We were all in it together and that made it fun.

I was across from Jayme, the other 30 something, and she was a good partner. We had lots of laughs. We got good at the mask breather. I liked holding the cpr baby, who I named Cynthia Patricia Reid. We were all being goofy with our babies. And by the end I felt pretty confident even though chest compressions really really did a number on my wrists. Celia was struggling to get her baby's chest to rise so I suggested we switch babies and thats when I discovered hers didn't have a neck tube. She had a floppy face baby. So she had a broken one and we were just like. Ugh oh. And let the trainer know and she said it was fine.

The trainer would get mad at a few people for not taking it seriously and not trying, but she didn't seem upset about us being jokey. She actually said I was the first one to get my online stuff done so I am proud of me for that. Love winning.

The first aid part was less intense. Wrapped my leg in gauze. Used a fake epi pen. The hardest part was learning to put together an oxygen tank. That is new this year. Was fun to learn but also a little intimidating. But they walked us through it and I got it without much issue. And then I was done! Hooray!

I left and went over to the office. Just to check in. Got my printed schedule. Which is heavy but not the worst thing. Heather said I didn't have to do anything for a few hours, and that it would just be dinner and then Slim the Appalachian musician, and maybe a bonfire. And if I wanted to go get pizza I could.

Celia texted me and she also wanted to get pizza. So she came and met me and we drove to Michaels.

It was fun hanging out with her. I paid for the pizza and fries. We did not need the fries. But we were starving and all the food in the world sounded good. Then while we waited we went to 711 next door for a fun drink and a snack. And I insisted we buy a bottle of ketchup and label it for specialty staff only. And I thought it was hilarious.

We had some of the pizza in the pizza shop and talked about how they are sure the sub imploded and they died quickly. I am sorry they are dead, but I'm glad they didn't know, and they never felt that fear. And then we headed back to camp.

We sat up in the arts building and had to much pizza and talked about fossils and rocks and collecting things. And eventually the food made me very tired. And Celia recognized that and was like I'm going to let you lay down and I was like thank you so much.

I would end up sleeping for less then an hour but it was a nice little nap. I thought I would go hang out at dinner and see slim at 7. But I was just so beat. I laid here for a long time. Eventually I did walk to the lodge but it was so incredibly loud in there. I sat with CJ for a minute but I felt overwhelmed and dizzy. So I got some water and walked with Kieran back to my little building.

He told me a block house is available if I don't want to be in n here anymore. But for now I am happy here. We'll see if that changes when it gets hotter at night.

That's where I've been since. Sort of dozing. Texting James. I brushed my teeth and washed my face. And somehow it's 930. So I am going to close my eyes. And hopefully I can sleep easily and not wake up until the morning.

Fiction is about conflict, drama and mistakes and the reasons and consequences behind human behavior. People make the mistake of conflating enjoying art with agreeing with what it depicts and that’s just not how consuming media works. I like hurt/comfort fanfic, but that doesn’t mean I want to see my partner beaten up. I really enjoy Hannibal, but that doesn’t mean I approve of cannibalism. What we read, watch, write or ship doesn’t reflect our character. If that were true, Stephen King and George R. R. Martin should both be in prison, and every fan of Die Hard would be on a watchlist. We enjoy stories because they take us outside of ourselves, into adventures we could never have and into the minds of people we could never be. That’s art. And while it’s always important to be critical and thoughtful about how and why we enjoy something, that should never keep you from liking what you like. anyways, yes it does reflect your character. in certain cases, fiction affects or is a reflection of reality. in this case, it shows that you let pretty privilege win when it comes to seeing red flags in people. it shows what you are literally willing to ignore. You cannot go and say this when you know damn well your attitude towards billy would change if any of these actors played him:

Hannibal kills and eats people he typically hates (like pedophiles) which is most likely a reflection of the creators own hate for pedophiles, and reflection on their views.

Hurt/comfort reflects peoples trauma. Sometimes the creators, and other times something the creator observed. Sometimes, something the creator desires. Ex: they wish to "save" someone and be there for them

Stephen King writes about murder on one hand, and friendship/ family on the other in a "which will pull through" type of way. "Which one is stronger" type of way, which reflects how he feels at the end of the day and how he views horror too.

George RR is famous for GOT, which is straight up about power struggles. This also reflects his character by showing his view on what is basically power politics. How not all the good guys will be in favor. How loss is inevitable in the batte for victory, and that doesn't mean you should essentially "abandon all hope". This is a reflection of what he believes in.

Also, people mainly like die hard for ACTION, which is a reflection of their character because it shows that they are a person who is/wants to be a daredevil, hero, tough guy, ect. if they liked watching people get murdered, that's completely different, but guess what? It's also a REFLECTION OF THEIR CHARACTER.
