The public transport company has "fixed" their app. They basically deleted most accounts but not the tickets. So if you make a new account with the same uni email then you get to see your ticket.
Unlike yesterday, today the email with a link to confirm your email is actually being send out within a usable time frame too! The link is valid for 5 minutes. In the previous weeks it took the email around an hour to be sent out and the link was always expired (and then this weekend the email would just never arrive at all).
The app now shows my ticket for this month. Let's see if it also will show me my ticket for next month (can see that on the 1st).
#I would still prefer getting my account number so that I can log into my account using a browser and get the ticket qr code there#instead of having an app that I don't really use take up space on my phone that is constantly running out of space#but there's barely enough analog tickets provided for the students without a smartphone. So I'll have to just live with the damn app

How I improved my writing style... without actually writing.
Intro : It's just a clickbait title to talk about theory and side techniques - before actually practicing, of course.
LINGUISTIC ISN'T GRAMMAR - AND IT'S BETTER TO KNOW ABOUT BOTH. It's useful for writing impactful dialogue and giving your characters depth. Your characters' language should (ideally) take into account: their social position (rich or poor), the locality (local expressions?) and sometimes their age (different cultural references). And this is best transcribed with linguistic knowledge. In short: linguistics is descriptive, grammar is prescriptive.
The areas of linguistic analysis are syntax (rules governing the structure of sentences), semantics (meaning), morphology (structure of words), phonetics (speech sounds and equivalent gestures in sign languages), phonology (the abstract sound system of a particular language, and analogous systems of sign languages), and pragmatics (how the context of use contributes to meaning). (Linguistics, Wikipedia)
Literary theory isn't as boring as it sounds. Learn more about internal criteria of the text (figure of speech, style, aesthetic...) and external criteria of the text (the author's persona and responsability, the role of the reader and what is left to interpretation...). I refer you to the French Wikipedia page, which you can translate directly via your browser in case you need more information. (Make sure you translate the page not switch language, because the content isn't the same).
Listening to Youtube Video about the analysis of film sequences and/or scenario. Remember when I told you to read historical fiction to learn how to describe a castle properly ? Same vibe.
Novel adaptations of movies. = when the movie exists before the book, and not the other way around. e.g : The Shape of Water ; Pan's Labyrinth. In line with tip n°3, it allows us to see how emotions, scenes and descriptions have been translated into writing - and thus to better visualize concepts that may have been abstract.
Read books about authors' writing experiences. e.g : Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. Everyone's different, but they can provide some insightful tips not only on the act of writing itself, but on the environment conducive to writing, planning… Comparing completely different authors' experience could also be fun (this video of King and Martin is actually one of my fav)
Ah and many thanks for your ❤ and reblogs on my latest post ! UwU

[Video ID. View of a computer screen showing the ADHD Analog Brain tool. A person of ambiguous gender narrates:
Okay, a quick tutorial on how to use the ADHD Analog Brain, which is for anybody who struggles with executive dysfunction, not just people with ADHD. So. ADHD Analog Brain tool, go on the browser.
[Narrator reads first line of the tool.] Do you know what you want? Mmm... yes.
[Narrator moves the mouse to click on the yes button, and the page reloads to the next question.] What do you want to do? Well, let's see, there's a lot of options here. I am in pain, actually.
[Narrator clicks the link and the page reloads to show a new question.] What kind of pain are you having? Uhh, let's see, head, my head hurts.
[Narrator clicks the link and the page reloads.] What kind of head pain? Um. Well, I've got light, sounds, smell sensitivity, nausea, brain fog, and my emotions are absolutely farkakteh, so let's go with migraine. Click on migraine.
[Narrator clicks the link and the page reloads with a bulleted list of options.] And here's instructions on how to deal with migraine: Take your emergency migraine meds. Drink a full glass of water. Do all sorts of stuff.
[Sound of dog whining. Camera pans over to a dog approaching the camera, wagging her tail and whining.] Ignore the dog, who is mad at me.
[Camera pans back to screen]. And let's see, I've done all these things, maybe I'll eat something.
[Narrator clicks on a link in the list, and the page reloads.] And oh look [laugh] there's advice on how to get food. And that's basically how the Analog Brain works [laugh] and now I'll let the dog out! [Caption over the last 20 seconds of video reads: Visit adhdanalogbrain.tumblr.com for links to the in-browser tool and the BOOK!]

i feel a little careless about talking about the more esoteric end of computer security because in practice, keeping your devices up to date, using a password manager, not clicking sussy links and taking care what executables you run will protect you pretty well! 'throw up your hands and give up' is very much not the message here.
like here's an analogy. you could at any moment be killed by a meteorite. but it's happened so rarely that there are no modern recorded examples of someone being killed by a meteorite and historical reports are kind of dubious. you could invest in lining the roof of your house with steel and always go out in a suit of medieval armour. it would lower your chance of getting meteorite'd... but it would also cause all sorts of other problems, which probably aren't worth the tradeoff.
silly example, but all security is the same sort of tradeoff between risk and inconvenience. for example, I don't like being tracked by advertisers (it just makes my skin crawl), so I run a bunch of anti-tracking browser extensions like NoScript, PrivacyPossum and Decentraleyes and always opt out in the gdpr popups. I wouldn't generally recommend this because often this breaks the functionality of websites and I have to spend some time figuring out which scripts to enable to get them to work, and it's hard to say the annoyance is worth the benefits. on the other hand, I would pretty generally recommend blocking ads with uBlock Origin.
another example: I don't make much of a secret of my IRL name, or separate my online presence from my IRL stuff. this is a risk - e.g. if I ran afoul of some social media hate mob it could lead to trouble. but I decided the effort it would take to keep that secret is not worth it. on the other hand, if I was, say, a famous vtuber who had to worry about being stalked by fans or haters, or even aspired to be one, this would be a big secret that I'd go to great pains to maintain.
certain rituals like the activist phone bowl are arguably 'security theatre': they're not really aligned with what is a realistic threat. sure, some really weird attacks exist out there, but you really need to be realistic about who's attacking you and how they're likely to go about it, or you'll just become so paranoid that you never do anything.

I got this idea from another user @logansgaar who recently posted about Bucky language switching. I thought it’d be a funny and interesting post, our Bucky Barnes forgetting the English word and maybe Sam and the likes really confused and he keeps repeating the word he’s meaning in another language? Idk.
Can you make it a Bucky x Reader?
In English, Bucky
Bucky x Y/N
Warnings: None
Bucky wasn’t new to the chaos that came with remembering—or forgetting—things. After decades of Hydra programming and years of self-reclamation, some parts of his life still felt like piecing together a shattered mirror.
This week? It was the languages.
It started small. Just a few words slipped through the cracks, ones he couldn’t quite catch in English even though they floated vividly in Russian, Romanian, or even German. At first, it was no big deal. Y/N was used to his occasional mutterings in foreign tongues when he couldn’t quite put his thoughts into English. But now? It was different. He’d been waking up thinking in one language, holding a conversation in another, and ending his sentences in a third. The confusion? Bucky’s teammates—and poor Sam—were the first casualties.
Sam squinted at Bucky, who was pacing the room, waving his hand wildly as he gestured at the television.
“Ты не понимаешь, да?!” Bucky exclaimed in Russian, throwing his hands in the air.
“What. The. Hell.” Sam deadpanned, looking toward Y/N as if she were his last lifeline. “Seriously, why does he keep yelling at me in Russian?”
Y/N stifled a laugh, crossing her arms as she leaned against the wall. “He’s saying you’ve got the remote in your hand, and the volume is too loud.”
Sam glanced down at the remote, blinking as realization dawned. He turned the volume down, but that didn’t stop him from pointing a finger at Bucky. “Man, if you’re gonna yell at me, at least do it in a language I understand!”
Bucky groaned, running a hand down his face. “I said that, didn’t I?”
“No, Buck,” Y/N replied with a smile tugging at her lips. “You said it in Russian. Twice.”
Bucky froze mid-gesture, his brows furrowing in confusion. He opened his mouth to argue, only to shut it again, his eyes darting toward the ceiling as if replaying the conversation in his head. A moment later, realization dawned, and his shoulders slumped.
“Seriously?” he muttered, scrubbing his flesh hand down his face.
“Seriously,” Y/N confirmed, biting her lip to keep her amusement in check.
“I thought I—” he began, then groaned, cutting himself off. “Great. Now I’m yelling at people in the wrong language. Next thing you know, I’ll be ordering coffee in German and getting blank stares from the barista.”
Y/N tried and failed to stifle her laughter, the sound bubbling out of her as Bucky shot her a half-hearted glare. Even Sam, ever the instigator, couldn’t help but chuckle.
“You know, Barnes,” Sam said, leaning back with his arms crossed, “it’s bad enough you’re already hard to understand half the time with your whole grumpy-man shtick. Now you’re throwing in Russian? Man, no one’s gonna bother arguing with you anymore—they won’t even know how.”
“Thanks, Wilson,” Bucky deadpanned. “Really helpful.”
Sam shrugged, grinning. “Anytime.”
Y/N shook her head, stepping closer to Bucky as she placed a hand on his arm. “Hey,” she said softly, her tone cutting through his frustration. “It’s not a big deal. You’re juggling more languages in that head of yours than most people could even dream of.”
Bucky huffed, his metal fingers flexing absently. “Doesn’t feel like it. Feels like my brain’s broken.”
“It’s not broken,” she assured him, her voice firm but warm. “It’s just...overloaded. Like trying to open twenty browser tabs at once. You just need a minute to figure out which one’s playing the music.”
Her analogy earned her a faint, lopsided smile. “You always know how to make me feel better, Doll.”
“Someone has to,” she teased gently.
Sam, watching the exchange, rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, cue the rom-com moment. Can we get back to the part where Barnes was yelling at me in Russian, though? I feel like I deserve an apology in English for that.”
Bucky’s smirk returned in full force as he glanced at Sam. “Apology? I think I said it perfectly the first time, Wilson.”
This time, it was Y/N who groaned. “Here we go again.”
🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
Later that evening, Bucky was sulking. Y/N watched him as he slumped into the couch, his metal hand twitching against the fabric as he stared blankly at the ceiling.
“You okay?” she asked gently, settling beside him.
“I’m losing my mind,” he muttered, switching back to English. His Brooklyn accent was thicker when he was tired, which only made Y/N’s heart squeeze. “I used to be fluent in English. Now I can’t even remember how to say…ugh…what’s the word for when someone’s being difficult on purpose?”
“Stubborn?” she offered.
“Yes! Stubborn!” He sat up, glaring at his own hands as if they’d betrayed him. “I tried to tell Sam that earlier, and I said it in Romanian instead.”
Y/N chuckled, her fingers brushing against his metal arm in a soothing motion. “It’s not a big deal, Buck. You know so many languages—it’s bound to happen sometimes.”
“Yeah, but it’s annoying. And embarrassing.”
“Not to me,” she murmured, her voice soft. “I think it’s cute.”
He tilted his head, narrowing his eyes at her in mock suspicion. “Cute?”
She shrugged. “Cute.”
The next morning, Y/N walked into the kitchen to find Bucky hunched over the table with a stack of index cards, a Sharpie, and a determined expression. He was muttering to himself in what sounded like Polish as he scribbled words in different languages on each card.
“Are you…making flashcards?” she asked, stifling a laugh.
“Don’t laugh,” he grumbled, holding up a card. “If I write them down, maybe my brain will keep them where they belong.”
Y/N bit her lip to suppress her smile. “Baby, your brain isn’t a filing cabinet.”
“Yeah, well, it’s acting like a busted one right now,” he retorted, flipping through his growing pile. “You know how frustrating it is when you’re trying to say something and your brain’s like, ‘Nope, here’s the German version instead?’”
She slid into the seat beside him, resting her chin in her hand. “Maybe your brain’s just reminding you that you’re more than just an American soldier. You’re a man who’s lived through so much, in so many places, and somehow you’ve carried all that with you.”
Bucky paused, his blue eyes softening as he looked at her. “You’re too good to me, Doll.”
“You’re just lucky I took Russian in college,” she teased, nudging him playfully.
🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴
The multilingual confusion came to a head during a mission briefing.
“Barnes, are you ready?” Sam asked, looking expectantly at his friend.
Bucky nodded, and he blurted out, “Да.”
“...What?” he blinked.
“I mean, ja! No—uh, yes!” Bucky groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Sam burst out laughing, clapping a hand on Steve’s shoulder. “Man, he’s broken.”
“Shut up, Sam,” Bucky snapped, glaring at him.
Sam only laughed harder. “Dude, you just said yes in three different languages in under five seconds. Are we sure you’re not a Hydra sleeper again?”
Bucky’s jaw clenched, his hand twitching toward the knife strapped to his thigh.
“Bucky,” Y/N said gently, placing a hand on his arm. Her tone was soothing, pulling his focus back to her. “Ignore him. He’s just jealous he can barely speak one language.”
He sighed, his shoulders relaxing under her touch. “Yeah, well, it’s still embarrassing.”
“It’s endearing,” she corrected.
🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
When the day crawled in and night came, as they lay tangled together on the couch, Bucky buried his face in Y/N’s hair. “You really don’t think it’s annoying?” he mumbled, his voice muffled.
“Not at all,” she replied, turning her head to kiss his cheek. “I think it’s a reminder of how far you’ve come.”
“How do you figure?”
“You’re not just James Barnes from Brooklyn anymore. You’re Bucky Barnes, a man who’s lived a hundred lives in a hundred languages. And you’re mine,” she added, her voice dropping to a whisper. “That’s what matters.”
He pulled back to look at her, a rare smile curving his lips. “I’m yours, huh?”
“Absolutely,” she said with a grin.
“Then I guess I can deal with forgetting a few English words every now and then,” he said, leaning down to kiss her.
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The next morning, Bucky walked into the kitchen to find Sam waiting for him with a smirk and a stack of flashcards.
“What’s this?” Bucky asked, narrowing his eyes.
“Your new study guide,” Sam said, flipping through the cards. “I took the liberty of adding a few important phrases. Like, ‘Wilson is the coolest.’”
Bucky groaned, snatching the cards and tossing them onto the counter. “You’re the worst.”
Y/N walked in just in time to hear Sam reply, “No, I’m the coolest—remember?”
Bucky turned to her with a pleading look. “Do you see what I have to deal with?”
She laughed, wrapping her arms around his waist. “You’ll live, Sergeant Barnes. You’ll live.”
——————————————————————————————————
I hope you enjoyed this, it was so much fun to create! I love acknowledging Bucky’s past without it having to be upsetting, thanks, Hun. 🫶

how did u get into graphic design? its always been an interest of mine but my lack of access to photoshop has made it sort of fizzle like i have no clue how to actually learn abt it in an applicable way u_u
when I was in high school and I was deciding what to major in college I wanted to do art but it had been drilled into my head that artists dont make money and its a useless degree so I chose graphic design because its still kind of art but more practical and involves more hireable skills lol
I've been fortunate enough to have access to the adobe suite first through my school and now through my employer, but if you want to use photoshop try Photopea! it's a free dupe of photoshop you can use in your browser. I haven't actually used it much myself, but there's a million photoshop crash course/beginners guide videos on youtube that should apply to photopea as well. there's also a competing suite of products called Affinity that includes analogs to photoshop, illustrator, and indesign. it costs money but unlike adobe it's one time purchase so you might consider it a worthwhile investment. I haven't really used that one much either though so your mileage may vary
the textbook we used for my history of gd class was Graphic Design: A New History by Stephen J. Eskilson and I found it sooo fascinating. if you can get your hands on a copy or a pdf I def recommend it because it's really informative about the various styles and movements that have influenced graphic design with a lot of cool examples.
my fave gd youtube channels are Linus Boman and Elliotisacoolguy. linus does more analytical videos breaking down designs in popular culture and elliot does increasingly ridiculous design challenges. there are also a lot of websites that generate random design prompts if you need ideas for something to work on
lastly a few years ago I compiled a bunch of websites that have free gd assets like fonts, photos, icons, photoshop mockups etc so everyone have fun with these !!!

I just want y'all to keep in mind of the two planets that have rulership under Aquarius. Saturn and Uranus.
If we're gonna see themes of anything extra under this major cycle (or certain under/over tones of certain possible events), watch for what signs Saturn and Uranus are gonna be in.
I have a keen feeling about the Saturn Uranus conjunction in late Gemini early Cancer come 2032. My guesses?
AI gets regulated and used for Internet Search purposes. Think of OpenAI/ChatGPT being used sorta like Google now. But a lot more credible and the people behind it do a background check for credible sources each time a new website comes online. Lotta scrutiny and a stern educationally buffed eye. It'll come built into a browser like a search engine (the first thing you see type deal, not built into the side like you'd see with OperaGX)
Home libraries will be recognized as public libraries possibly? As people return to or begin to collect more analog products, I feel like those with an abundance who wish to share it can create a local library within a neighborhood. You know the community centers that some neighborhoods have? Yeah, implement a neighborhood library perhaps. (So you have the playground, the pool, the HOA office, and a library (bonuses if it also has a little cafe truck next to it. IMO there's gonna be a lot of BYOC/T stuff happening).) (BYOC/T = Bring Your Own Coffee/Tea)
Homebuyers revolution = I don't know why I think of the Saturn-Uranus conjunction in that manner. Will things get much cheaper or much easier then?
Yeah nah these are channeled things to come from those planets.
Also doesn't help that my Saturn return happens around that time (or a bit after).
Pray for me when 2032 happens.
(edit: while I'm not the exact first poster on this subject of Uranus in Cancer, I'm one of the first FEW, WOHOO)
Like and repost maybe? 💀

What is CURSEBORNE?

This might be of interest to any World of Darkness or Chronicles of Darkness fans or any fans of Onyx Path Publishing and White Wolf in general. We could be getting a new urban fantasy horror game series soon.
On April 10th, 2023 Onyx Path publishing’s blog brought up a hypothetical of making their own urban fantasy game series. Of course this was in response to their lack of any new WoD or CofD products as they do not own the rights to those IPs and must have approval by Paradox before working on anything. Currently Paradox is more focused on supporting their v5 products with their in house studio, Renegade Games and are no longer contracting other studios to right supplements for them for the foreseeable future. Because of this, the 20th Anniversary World of Darkness games and Chronicles of Darkness lines aren’t getting any new releases and what has already been announced and put into production are the only things to release in the near future. The only way for Onyx Path to make more urban fantasy horror games is to make their own and while they only mentioned this as a possibility, the comments section of this blog post exploded into discussions over this new potential game.
The next few blog posts afterwards continued the discussions asking people what they would like to see in a new potential horror game, such as a Masquerade system or signature characters as the comments sections only further spawned more discussion over this new world. Around this time too, Onyx Path announced their new unified version of their in-house system called Storypath Ultra, which should go without saying but will definitely be the system this potential game will be using. Then about a month later, on May 19th, on the official Onyx Path YouTube channel, this video was released https://youtu.be/fL1VPUzoB_Y?si=cR4ZPeb0wf9Kt6mM
youtube
A short seven second long animation of a murder of crows flying against a snowy tree line and the word “CURSEBORNE” forming as they all fly away. A short, mysterious teaser? Well for the next eight months Onyx Path would release a total of 30 videos of similar nature as of writing this post. Strange and short vignettes of classic horror tropes such as fog, spiders and recordings of monsters. Some would even be rereleased with minor differences and even text. I recommend watching some for yourself, there is a really eerie vibe to some. These capture more “modern” horror vibes when compared to WoD or CofD, some even feel inspired by analog horror or urban legends, the “Train” short particular reminds me of Japanese urban legends. Blog posts more or less stopped mentioning this potential game as time went on and mentions were then replaced with a strange picture of a moth, the same one at the top of this post.
On January 31st, 2024, 7:00 EST this website appeared https://www.curseborne.com/
CURSEBORNE, the title in all of those videos. The website has no text, just images of the same moth from the blog just posted all over a black background. Some will slowly fade in. Clicking on them will lead to a new page featuring one of the many teaser videos playing in your browser. Going back to the homepage, you’ll see a moth that appears to be glowing when compared to the others. Clicking it sends you to a Typeform quiz asking “Who are you?”. Answering it gives you a strange title such as “Raptor”, “Gaki”, “Archivist” etc. with a description of how you act. If I’d have to guess, these titles could be the names to new monsters or factions in CURSEBORNE. I’d like everyone who’s interested to please take this quiz and post your results on this post to see how many titles, or “paths” are found.
In short, it looks like Onyx Path is gearing up to make a new urban fantasy game using their own system. It’s not going to be World of Darkness with different names, but its own unique take on the concept.

🕸 // CRT Revival Log: Streaming the Future Through a 6-Inch Past 🕸
(yes, that’s a Crown Japan 6” colour TV running a movie via digital stream)
Screenshots + clip from a rig I finally got running this week. Streaming a full HD film through a 1980s-era mini CRT using an iMac as the source and the Crown TV as a second screen. Grain, glow, ghosting — all present and correct.
What you’re seeing:
A digital movie (via streaming service) downscaled and output to a Crown Japan 6” colour television
Photos taken mid-playback — complete with scanlines, soft bloom, and that soft edge warble you only get from analog displays
Desktop and browser from the iMac peeking through in one shot — reminder this whole thing’s being routed from a modern machine
Rig Details / Adapters Used: 🔌 iMac (Thunderbolt 3/USB-C) ⬇️ USB-C → HDMI adapter ⬇️ HDMI → RCA/AV converter box (powered, with selectable NTSC/PAL output) 🔌 RCA cables into the AV input on the Crown TV (UHF/VHF, analog input only) 🧠 macOS in extended desktop mode — dragging video windows across onto the CRT like it’s 1998 again
The result is a kind of digital séance — pulling the sharpness of now through the fuzz and hum of then. Glorious, distorted, alive.
Long live scanlines. 📺

what makes the weight worth it; writing for a single feeling
Author’s Note: to every writer (and reader) out there; thank you for all that you are, for all that you do, and for how much light and life you bring to the not-so-simple act of existing. 💞 (if you've ever wondered what writers often go through emotionally—especially in today's culture of consumerism and "content"—then read this)
what makes the weight worth it; writing for a single feeling
Tomioka Giyuu x Reader
Word Count: ~900
CW: none
~faqs~
“You’re frowning again,” Giyuu murmurs, cool hands resting themselves on your hunched shoulders as he stands behind you.
“And?” you mutter, swivel chair creaking when you lean back into his touch, “It’s called a resting bitch face.”
Cracking a faint smile, he kneads at the tension in your muscles, “And your tea’s half finished,” pecking the top of your head while tacking on, “I’m quite familiar with your resting bitch face, and it’s distinct from your frowning face.”
“Shouldn’t you be more concerned if I ever do finish my tea?” you chuckle lightly, nose scrunching as you let out a long sigh, your desk feeling more and more foreboding as its clutter stretches out before you, “I’m just tired.”
“Tired of?” he prods gently, glancing at your browser to make sure he’s safe to reach over you and carefully close your laptop’s screen, “It’s only 11pm.”
“It’s stupid,” you mumble, feet cold as you spin yourself around, Giyuu’s lazy ponytail and concerned gaze a sight for sore eyes, “Let’s get in bed, m’kay?” waggling your eyebrows, “I forgot to wear socks.”
He grimaces at that, well acquainted with your gleeful usage of his thighs for warming your toes (and his poor stomach for warming your icicles fingers), but doesn’t protest, wordlessly slinging an arm around your waist. Your head flops onto his collarbone, pausing for a quiet moment of hazy dew and newly blossomed bluebells — familiar scents drifting from his freshly showered skin to your thoroughly worn, cotton sweatshirt.
—
Giyuu knows something’s up when you willingly brush your teeth, even allowing him to hand you a tiny cup of mouthwash, afterwards leading the way to bed, your tired face shining with night cream as you crawl under the blankets, promptly tucking the sheets beneath your chin while you fix a cute smile on him.
“Thanks for turning off the light,” you chime, giggling at his deadpan stare, quickly replaced by his silhouette, stark and limber as darkness and moonlight fills the room, decisive footsteps padding toward the bedframe.
You scoot over when he reaches the mattress, rolling into him as soon as he’s horizontal, eagerly cramming your toes into the crooks of his knees, grinning at his groan of resignation as he stiffens from the temperature difference.
“So,” Giyuu begins through gritted teeth, breathing shallowly (helplessly wishing you had better blood circulation), “What had you frowning?”
Your lips purse, exhaustion muddling your thoughts as you slowly process his question, fingertips like tiny pricks of ice as you tap them across his chest, goosebumps raising along his forearms even as he allows you to snuggle closer.
“I know I should be creative for the sake of being creative, for myself… but it’s hard when creativity also feels like something that exists for the sake of being shared. What is art in a vacuum? What’s the point of talking without anyone listening?”
He hums into your hair, finally relaxing as your limbs and his establish an equilibrium of warmth, catching your wrist and pressing a grounding kiss to your veins.
“It’s not that I feel uninspired, or that I don’t want to be creative, or that I’m burnt out from being creative… I’m just, wearing down from lack of use,” nose scrunching at your own analogy, “Not that I want to be used either,” rambling now, “But sometimes I feel like I’m offering samples of my heart at a grocery store, and everyone’s simply walking by. Nobody owes me a try, and hey, maybe you’re allergic to an ingredient, or ate lunch recently… I don’t know. I guess just, what’s the point in going to a restaurant if you only order a glass of water?”
A hollow silence passes as Giyuu waits to ensure you’re finished, his pulse steady and loud, throat constricting with a strange thickness. You exhale shakily, eyes glistening and bright as you peek up at him, the sharpness of his jaw made fuzzy by the weight of the night.
“I would hoard all of your samples,” he says roughly, voice scratchy with sleep, “Even if I was allergic to them, even if I was already stuffed.”
You snort, lungs expanding with emotion as you drawl, “You’re sooo romantic,” blinking confusedly when he places a delicate finger to your mouth, shushing you.
“Someone cares about your creativity, someone needs your creations,” he continues firmly, “Please keep creating them. I’m here, I can always be that someone, and I… I would like to help teach you that you can be that someone too. You can create for yourself, and listen to yourself, and cherish yourself. I know that isn’t really the problem, but… did I just make everything worse?”
Your expression contorts at Giyuu’s hesitation, endearment bursting in your ears as you make a fond, strangled noise, clinging somehow tighter to him, managing to squeeze a contented, surprised squeak from his drowsy body.
“I don’t think everything’s better,” you admit, “But thank you for loving me and my creative woes.”
“Of course,” he replies, cheeks noticeably pink despite the midnight hour, “And thank you for trusting me with your feelings.”
“No more, ‘kay?” you yawn into his armpit, “Dream time.”
“‘Kay,” Giyuu agrees, yawning in return, his whisper barely audible as unconsciousness looms on the edge of your blurring vision, “I hope I dream of you.”

An AO3 app? -- The next installment in my AO3 posting.
I'm going to preface this by telling you that I don't entirely understand the urge or need to have an app for everything, but then again, I am closer to 30 than 20, so maybe that's the difference. Moving on.
So I've seen a lot of people saying that they wish there was an AO3 app. Presumably these people read AO3 on their phones or tablets. The thing is, there is NO AO3 app. If you see an app in the App Store or the Play Store claiming to be an AO3 app, it is fake, and you should not download it.
Say it with me kids:
"ao3 does not have an app and will not have an app."
The thing is, there's a really good reason why it will never happen. If you've been on this site (tumblr) long enough you'll either remember or have heard about the great tumblr porn ban (aka the ban on "female presenting nipples"). Believe it or not there was time where the tumblr (official) policy on adult content was "go nuts, show nuts. whatever." <-- actual quote btw.
A big reason why the tumblr porn ban ever happened was because of the tumblr app, specifically, the tumblr app for iOS. Apple decided one day that they thought that the tumblr app contained too much "sensitive content" and they banned tumblr's app from the Apple App Store, until such time as tumblr took what they believed sufficient corrective action for this "issue." Apple also believed that tumblr's app was hosting CP, which they considered a violation of their TOS.
So, in response to Apple banning them from the app store (which did not effect current users of the tumblr app, only potential new tumblr users), tumblr rolled out the adult content ban, so that they could get re-instated on the App Store. Like many other new "features" and "updates" to this site, the roll out was clunky, badly done and deeply unpopular. It was easily one of the worst changes for this site, in no small part because of how clunky it was; lots of innocuous posts were incorrectly flagged, and many bloggers found their entire blogs flagged, with little recourse in the initial wake of the ban. Critically, this event saw a great many users on tumblr leave this platform for twitter. How this affected site culture is up to debate.
Why am I telling you this? Well, as I am sure you, as an AO3 user are well aware, AO3 hosts a great deal of "adult content," of many persuasions and forms. They are explicitly against censorship of any kind. The app store is NOT against all censorship. These are two conflicting values. Since AO3 (and by extension OTW) has no interest in purging content from their site on behest of a megacorp (which btw is also why they rely on donations only and don't serve advertisements), they have no interest in developing an app, given the potential for restrictions.
Besides, AO3's website is simple, clean, and mobile responsive. Why fix something that ain't broke??
But, wait, if you're the target audience I'm hoping to reach with this post, you still want an app for AO3 on your home screen!
Never fear, my app loving youngsters! There is a way for you to create an "app" icon on your iPad or iPhone's home screen for AO3 (or any other site you like really) Apologies Android users; I don't have an Android, so I can't show you something analogous to this on Android, and don't know if they have it. Ditto on Kindle Fire.
This tutorial will use both safari and Firefox*. I won't show you Chrome (derogatory) because I don't have it and don't use it.
*Side note, switching to Firefox today is a great thing that you can do for yourself. You can easily import all of your Chrome bookmarks if that's what worries you.
In Firefox:
Step 1. Visit AO3 in the Firefox browser.
Step 2. Tap the hamburger menu in the right hand side of the top ribbon to reveal the browser and page settings and options menu, and locate the "Share" option (highlighted in blue below):
Step 3. In the "share" menu popup, locate and tap the "Add to Home Screen" option (highlighted in blue below):
Step 4. Give your new "app" (secretly just a bookmark) a title. You can leave it as the default, but I suggest shortening it so that the entirety of it shows on your home screen. You can name it whatever you want.
In Safari:
Step 1. Visit AO3 in the Safari browser.
Step 2. Tap the share icon in the right hand side of the top ribbon and scroll down until you find the "Add to Home Screen" option (highlighted in green below). Tap this option.
Step 3. In the "add to home screen" pop up, type whatever name you want in the name field (highlighted in green below). You can leave it as the default, but I suggest that you change it to something shorter so it displays in full with the icon on the home screen.
Either way, you should end up with an icon on your home screen that looks like this:
This is not an "app" BUT it is an icon on your home screen. When you tap the icon, it takes you to the home page of AO3, in whatever browser you created the bookmark in. You can move it around however you'd like, just like a real app, and put it any folder you'd like.
So that's all I have for this chat.
See you again next time I get inspired to write an ao3 chat/tutorial post for newbies!
Final note, If any of my followers have Android devices or Kindle Fire devices and want to add a photo tutorial for this on those platforms to this post, please feel free to, since I don't have any devices with either of those OSes, and thus could not do that myself.
