OK I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT A VERY SPECIFIC FUKUFUKU DETAIL OF THIS EPISODE (spoilers for bsd s5 ep8)
so there's this bit directly after the sakura blossoms sequence:
(after the Fukuchi scene the text reads "...where he became a demon of carnage")
and these are just SO interesting to me.
First off, the colours - in the present, it's well established that green is Fukuchi's colour while red is Fukuchi and the Hunting Dogs' (another reason why the anime colour change was a great idea in my opinion).
Here, though, they're reversed. In these very formative moments of their lives, they are both the opposite of their present selves, and the opposite of each other.
Fukazawa will soon stop working as an assassin, meet Ranpo, and form the ADA. Instead of killing, he will save people; instead of being 'the lone wolf', he will be a leader.
Meanwhile, although Fukuchi is still seen by the world as a hero, we know the horrible things going on behind the scene - which may be why the frame telling us that he's become a 'demon of carnage' is on the next frame, more hidden.
Plus, the language is interesting (going off the translation) - firstly, where it says Fukazawa was 'nudging' the war to end. I feel like, despite his actual role, that implies a certain grace and gentleness. He brings an end to the war (even if that's through more violence) - meanwhile, Fukuchi brings 'carnage'. Violence. Brutality. Horror on top of the trauma from the war.
But something else fascinating is the description of 'lone' and 'heroic'. While they are opposites in many ways, here, they're strikingly similar. In this moment, you'd expect Fukuchi to be joyful, celebrated, standing proud - 'heroic'.
Yet being a hero doesn't save him from being 'lone', just like Fukazawa is. Instead, he's kneeling on the ground, cradling a dead comrade and surrounded by many more.
Having chosen completely opposite paths, they still somehow, in this moment, manage to be in the exact same place as one another. Where they differ is in where they will go next.

A undiscovered hilarity of Fukazawa’s powers that I don’t think we talk about enough
Fukazawa: *proud* You did a good job today, Dazai. *fatherly pats his shoulder*
Dazai: thanks President
*from the other room*
Kunikida: DAZAI STOP TOUCHING THE PRESIDENT
Atsushi: *tiger roar*

Hi! How are you?? I hope you are okay! Are you still taking requests? If you are, I have a request: What if s/o is Oda Sakunosuke's little sister/brother and s/o REALLY looks like Odasaku(Oda Sakunosuke) Their hair colour, eye colour is the same as his And s/o joins to Agency. What would ADA would do? If you aren't taking requests, you can ignore this! But if you are taking requests and if you do this, it would make my day! Thank you!!
I'm on the floor I loved this! I hope you don't mind I did a small drabble for the whole agency as one at the start but only went into details with characters that knew Oda and added Ango. I didn't know what s/o was till half way so this could be seen as platonic or romantic. I hope you liked it and feel free to tell me if there's anything I'm missing

Familiar Faces 𓇢𓆸
Includes: Fukazawa (platonic), Ranpo, Ango, Dazai x Oda's younger sibling
Genre: Angst, hurt/comfort
Notes: Dark Era and season four spoilers!!! Slight Beast! mention but no spoilers (Fukazawa), Probably oc, not proofread, bad grammar, gn reader, reader is unaware that Oda was in the mafia, reader is implied to be over 18
Format: Headcannons/ Drabbles
Summary: Being Oda's younger sibling

The Agency
You suprisingly grew up a very normal life thanks to your older brother. You knew he had a dangerous job and admired him greatly, after all who wouldn't? He took in orphans and visited them daily, bringing you along too. It became your whole life.
The day everything changed left an indescribable ache in your chest, like a piece of your world vanishing, leaving behind a void filled with quiet memories. You had just finished up school that year but your whole life was gone, everything you had was gone and you didn't even know why. It took you a few years till you decided to use your abilities for good and find out what happened.
You ended up joining a detective agency filled with ability users who are all very helpful and kind. It felt so welcoming that you genuinely enjoyed working here..but however, you couldn't help but notice three who looked at you with a certain, almost sad familiarity—as if they knew you. You hadn't met them before but they knew you- or at least some part of you that you didn't know how, they knew him. It's unnerving because how do they know?

Fukazawa Yukichi
He'd recognise you immediately
Well at least who you're related too
He only met Oda once as a teenager
I don't think he met him again so I doubt he knows what happened (tell me if I'm wrong)
Might've heard that he wasn't an active assassin anymore
Definitely on guard when he meet you
Like a relative of a former assassin willing applying to be a detective?
But you were different
He could see it in your eyes that were full of emotions, loss and compassion
Unlike those eyes he saw years ago
You have never killed
It was a bit unsettling though
He needed to know of your intentions
He glanced at you and then back at the application form. He knew he recognised that name, he knew that tinge of red hair and those empty brown eyes that mirrored the features of that boy—an exact replica. To him it made sense to have this interview in the cafe instead of his office.
But the eyes he was looking into were different this time; instead of being void of any emotion it glinted with loss and nervousness. This was an interview, of course you were nervous as the older man continued to keep silent, you felt like he was judging your very soul but in reality he was wondering something else.
Finally he puts the sheets down and clears his throat "What motivated you to apply for this job?". He was curious, you were undoubtedly related to the assassin so why are you applying to be a detective? What were your intentions?
Trying to calm your nerves, you took a deep breath. "I want to do good. I want to help people, like my brother."
He didn't react, but it was evident he was waiting for further explanation, especially regarding the mention of your brother. The silence hung in the air, prompting you to delve into the details.
Hearing your explanation of Oda surprised him
He didn't know any of this (I think)
To know that kid changed into a caring young man and raised his sibling and the orphans
Those eyes that were once lifeless, with no care for his life or anything, had changed
Said he must've been a good man
I think Fukazawa would've tooken Oda in like Ranpo back then :( maybe that's what happened in beast
He gave his his condolences when he found out he died
The waitress in the café came and asked if you two were ordering
Fukazawa ordered something small
You ordered a curry, spicy specifically you said
Fukazawa officially hired you when you passed your entrance exam
He knew you were a good person
I'd like to think later on he might tell you that he met Oda when he was a teen

Edogawa Ranpo
He met Oda twice
First as teens
And last in passing as adults
He tried to stop him :(
When he first met you he instantly knew you were related
He also knew that you were trying to find out how everything happened
I don't think he'd tell you at first for your sake
But as you get closer as friends maybe he would
Somewhat guiding you into figuring it out yourself
Ranpo doesn't act like it but I think he cares
You're having a bad day and about to snap?
You find a sweet you don't remember putting in your pocket
It's very small acts but it comforts you
Alone at your desk, with everyone gone home , and you asked if you could stay over a little to longer to finish something you'd been working on for months– finding out what happened that day.
Coming home from school, you headed to the curry place where you and your older brother always ate, where the orphans were cared for. Instead, you found chaos – police, bystanders, and a devastating revelation from an officer.
Devastated, you waited in grief for your brother, only to discover he was gone too. Everything you knew and loved vanished, leaving you desperate for answers.
You've been building up this personal case for months, you weren't that suprised to find out Oda was a mafiaso and former assassin but god still not knowing why everything happened still gnaws at you, Your world was taken, and the lack of understanding weighs heavily on your chest.
You groan and slump against the desk, the frustration of not knowing amplifying the ache in your chest. You felt like you were getting nowhere.
You felt a tug on your shirt and you lift your head up startled to see Ranpo leaning behind you. He doesn't bother asking why you're still here because he already knows but when you're about to ask him the same question he shushes you with his finger and pulls out a bag of sweets "I left these behind". That's a lie- unless he really wanted these specific sweets that he so happened to leave behind.
He pulls up a chair beside you, the wheels squeaking from only slight movement and plopping himself down.
Silently he offers the bag of sweets, you presume he wants you to open it and you do, going back to your papers after but he offers you the now open bag again, a silent invitation to take one.
You mutter a quiet thank you and take a sweet. It's silent as you both eat the sweets but it's a comfortable silence.

Osamu Dazai
Oh my god
I can't
You knew Dazai back when Oda was alive
When he came to the house or orphans
I'd say you got along
Oda definitely told Dazai to refrain from mentioning the mafia to you
And he kept to that no matter how many times you asked Dazai about how he knew your brother or what his job was
You were probably somewhat friends :(
Didn't see each other for four years until you joined the agency
At first you didn't recognise him
He's wearing less bandages
But he certainly recognised you
An exact image of your brother
I feel like there's two ways this could go
1. He completely ignores, distancing himself from you
2. He's completely all over, absolutely protective of you and making sure your okay at all times
I think it be both
You found that everyone was quite welcoming at the agency and you got along with everyone... although there was one who always avoided you no matter what.
And that was Osamu Dazai.
The moment you stepped into the office his heart dropped as if he seen a ghost, his facade halting only for a moment before he picked up his usual demeanor again. Quietly slipping away before you see him
He'd be stupid to think you wouldn't recognise him but he ignored you anyways. Oh you're coming back from a case? Where did Dazai go? He suddenly vanished (sarcasm). You try to approach him? He is sprinting the other way.
He cannot look at you at all without thinking about Oda, he will not let you close to him again because everything he never wants to lose is always lost and he doesn't want to lose you too.
He is trying to distant himself from you, he doesn't want you to get hurt, he wants you to be safe, he wants you to live the normal life that Oda tried to give you, he wants you- your gaze, your words, your touch-and it scares him, everything worth wanting is lost the moment he obtains it, that is the life of Osamu Dazai.
Though he ignores you directly, he watches over you through other means, making sure in any plans your safety is first, that your teamed up with someone dependable and your getting home safe after work.
But Dazai can't run away from ghost's forever, not when that ghost is at arms length. He always manages to slip away when you try to even speak to him but not this time- you got him cornered, he has no choice but to see his past once again.
I don't know how to write confrontation so just wheater you argued or broke down crying
He will realise he can't keep you away
Perhaps he'll let you close again
But not too close
He knows very well that you see his facade
Being with you he doesn't have to keep his bubbly mask on
You'd both sit silently together by Oda's grave
The silence is not deafening with you, it's calm, a silent mutual understanding between you
He would definitely have nightmares of losing you too
Too the point I don't think he'd leave your side
Constantly hovering around you, partnering up with you everytime so he knows your safe, knocking at your dorm in the dead of night because of a nightmare
It's silly he thinks but still it worries him deep down, after all he is human

Ango Sakaguchi
I know he's not part of the agency
But I think he helped you get into it
I think Ango would've taken care of you:(
Not directly but from afar
He'd feel too guilty
Finding out that you were looking for a job involving where you could get hurt he immediately directed you to the Agency
Partially because of Dazai
He knew he would watch over you no matter what
And you'd have each other :(

I lowkey keep forgetting to post my wips here even though that was the point of this account whoops so heres a section of smth ive been working on lately <33
I'm actually fairly proud of it lmao but ALSO warning bc its more bloody/mature than my usual style of writing?? Just. beware
----------------------
The phones go out at 23:17. Edgar watches the color drain from Yosano’s face, sees how Fukazawa tenses, and feels trepidation crawl up his spine, thick, like molasses.
At 23:18, they leave for the airport.
---
The truck they’re in is shabby, but Edgar supposes beggars can’t be choosers. He hijacked the first car he saw after leaving the building, after all. Edgar half-expected Yosano or the president to make a comment, because it wasn’t exactly legal, but apparently legalities fly out the window when vampires take over the world. Go figure.
“He’s not picking up,” Yosano swears under her breath. “I’m going to kill him–”
Edgar speeds up the vehicle. The streets are empty anyway.
“He probably dropped his phone,” she laughs, but it’s hollow, her nails pinching deep into her skin. She’s panicking, and Edgar can’t really blame her. The president says nothing, his stony glare fixed on something Edgar can’t see. “Or it died. Ranpo never charges his phone.”
He hums, noncommittal. He’s never seen Yosano like this. Anxiety broils in his own gut, and he can all but taste the bile in his mouth. Karl sits with the president, nervously chittering but (thank everything) staying still. His mind races through the same excuses Yosano mutters—the phone died, Ranpo forgot, Fyodor cut the lines, they won and decided the easiest way to get Edgar’s attention was to hang up, anything.
He’s never been that lucky. None of them have.
The airport is destroyed. The ceiling is falling through, rubble and broken pipes littered across the floor, flashing lights and terminal signs dented or cut through. The emergency staircase is mostly unharmed, aside from a few loose wires and crumbled steps. It isn’t enough to stop Yosano from dashing up them, leaving Edgar and Fukazawa to follow. Karl, now attached to his neck, holds on fearfully through Edgar’s muttered apologies as they race up the steps.
Edgar smells rust before he sees flicks of red, wincing when Karl’s claws dig into his shoulder, his nose pressed hard against Edgar’s neck. Probably to stop the smell, Edgar thinks. Karl has never liked the smell of blood.
The rooftop of the airport isn’t faring any better. There’s a wide circle of clean space, as though every bit of debris had been pushed to the very edge carefully and deliberately, leaving only specks of dust on the floors.
He hears the scream that forces itself from Yosano’s mouth before he can register the carnage. It’s grisly, but that isn’t what takes Edgar’s attention. Not even close. It’s the way Yosano makes a beeline, running even faster than before, towards a crumbling wall, dropping to her knees. She digs through her purse, frantic as anything, and Edgar doesn’t want to look but he does, even though he knows exactly what he’ll see.
Ranpo is dull, lifeless—actually lifeless, oh God, Edgar would laugh at his word choice if he had any control over his actions. His head is lolled onto his chest, red decorating the wall where his head must have made contact before—
No.
He can see it, can see how it happened from the damn detective training, and for the first time he wishes he’d never been smart enough for it in the first place because at least then he wouldn’t know. Edgar’s eyes widen as Yosano finds what she’s looking for, and he wants to tell her to stop, to force her eyes away. He’s not fast enough.
Yosano’s scalpel slices cleanly across Ranpo’s throat, and Edgar sees the way her ability searches, combs through the air for any remnants of a soul there to force back into its body.
It’s no use.
The tears dragging themselves down her cheeks are nothing compared to the blood spattered across her face, the way her eyes dull as Ranpo bleeds, and bleeds, and bleeds. The wound doesn’t close.
She laughs under her breath, hand shaking as she goes to cut again, panicked as someone grabs her arm. Yosano resists, at first, her eyes whipping towards her assailant before she freezes. Fukazawa holds her arm steady and patient, his calm face barely hiding the fury in his eyes. He kneels next to her, and weakly, she tries to pull her arm back. Fukazawa only shakes his head, sadness and anger swirling in his gaze.
Edgar wants to wake up, because this has to be a nightmare. Some awful dream he’d conjured up in his mind after falling asleep editing his latest novel.
Instead he watches, staring at Yosano as she begins to sob. He can’t bring himself to move. Ranpo promised, Edgar wants to scream. He promised to come back.
He has to come back.
----------------------
So,,,
Might post the later parts of this scene eventually hehe but yeah I've always wanted to write a scene where yosano uses her ability in denial of the fact that her patient is already dead bc i think it would be extremely traumatizing for her and everyone else involved (sorry yosano I love you i promise) and I felt like this was the perfect time bc even though shes mostly levelheaded i could see her going apeshit if ranpo died and fukazawa being there really made that scene so much worse
sorry yosano (and ranpo tbh)
Its a timeloop/try the timeline again fic so ranpo's not dead permanently, but poe is definitely going to remember that 💀 Fukazawa and yosano won't though! If that makes it any better lmfao
#yosano just wants her brother to live ok#sorry not sorry for the copious amounts of commas#i want it to read like a metronome and also i answer to no one#tbh i was trying to practice scenery descriptions so im pretty happy :)#also ive been planning out this one since WAY before fukazawa got “killed” or whatever so let me live#mom said its MY turn to fuck up the timeline#anyway thanks for reading <333#cw blood#bungou stray dogs yosano#fanfiction#my fics#edgar allan poe bsd#poe bsd#ranpo bsd#yosano bsd#fukazawa bsd

I’M BACK WITH ANOTHER REQUEST. Caregiver Fukuzawa and little Ranpo headcanons? I think they have tea time, which means Fukuzawa has tea and Ranpo has extra sugary boba tea
YEA YES YES YES YES!!!!
Cg!Fukuzawa and little!ranpo headcanons!
🌊-Ranpos sweet tooth gets 100x sweeter and Fukuzawa will have to draw line whenever Ranpo has to much sweets and he will like throw a fit or have a tantrum or be fussy and he stubborn the rest of the day
🌊-I also head canon that Ranpo is just a ball of energy and Fukuzawa has to find ways to burn all the energy out or he’s not getting any sleep.
🌊-putting Ranpo down for a nap id either calm and easy or 10 stages of hell and torture
🌊-Ranpo calms him “Fu-Fu”
🌊-Fukuzawa calls him “Baby” “Little one” “snack stealer”
🌊-Fukuzawa can tell when Ranpo is little because he always says “Fu-Fuuuuu!!”
🌊-when Ranpo is in baby space (2-4) his sugar tooth isn’t that bad but when he’s a kiddo (5-8) it’s HORRIBLE
🌊-Ranpo loves to play pretend with Fukuzawa!!
That’s all I have for today ash! Hope you enjoy these!!!

Bungo Stray Dogs: Reflections pt. 1: ADA
This is an AU centered around the characters having the opposite ability as in canon. For example, Dazai amplifies other's abilities on contact instead of nullification.
ADA members' ability breakdown:
Fukazawa- Ability: All men on equal ground
Allows him to adjust the abilities of others, but only those he is not familiar with and one at a time.
Pretty similar to in canon
Ranpo- Ability: Super Deduction
The same as in canon. He's a little more playful here.
Yosano- Ability: Thou shalt not kill
Allows her to make someone immune to injuries as long as they are within her reach. Essentially, she can stop a murder just by being there.
She's less sadistic- her ability doesn't require that. She's still kickass though, so watch out Kajii.
Kunikida- Ability: Kunikida's writing
Allows him to put objects onto paper, able to effectively disarm most simple opponents of knives or other uncomplicated weapons. Doesn't apply to complicated weapons like guns or bombs, anything with a mechanical aspect.
Same as canon, strict and idealist to the core.
Tanizaki- Ability: Warm breath in winter air
Allows him to use memories and picture in others' minds to cause them to hallucinate. He can't see what they hallucinate, but he essentially just uses their brain as a computer, searches for something, and they see the results. Say, if he willed his 'victim' to hallucinate home, they'd begin to think they'd been magically transported to whatever they think of as home- and Tanizaki wouldn't know what they saw.
Same as canon, focusing on his nervous demeanor but absolute determination to protect Naomi. (They aren't weird pseudo-incest things here because I said so.) His resolve to protect her will be demonstrated- and then tested.
Kenji- Ability: To weather the storm
Allows him to be nigh indestructable when his needs are met. As in, when he's well fed, had a decent amount of sleep, etc. he is essentially superman and his skin can't even be broken.
Similar to canon, he still believes in the good of people and takes things at face value.
Non-ability users:
Interns
Naomi
Ranpo
This is the ADA, they say hi!
(IDK man. Anyways, thanks for reading! All my AUs are free to use, so if this inspired you, go wild! I'll do another organization. Eventually)

aro fukazawa is canon in my heart
#evidence 1: colour scheme#(which is also my evidence for lesbian kouyou)#evidence 2: how fucking funny would it be if these two men are out here committing war crimes and trying to get total world domination#bc they're still mad that their bf broke up with them 20 years ago#only for said bf to have no clue that they ever even dated#fukuchi took fukazawa not going to war with him as the world's biggest rejection#meanwhile fukazawa still thinks they're best friends#mori thinks that they're divorced exes who still secretly like each other#meanwhile fukazawa just hates him#bonus: ranpo 100% knows they're both still in love with his dad#will he tell fukazawa - of course not#will he snarkily grin at fukuchi and mori whenever he sees them because he's fukazawa's actual favourite and the all know it?#yes#absolutely#bsd#bungo stray dogs#bsd fukazawa#bsd ranpo#bsd fukuchi#bsd mori#fukufuku#fukumori#old man yaoi

a list of kunikida headcanons i have slowly accumulated (tiktok liked them so i hope tumblr will too):
he was a chronically fast talker when he was a kid. he had to learn to slow tf down when he became a teacher and he just never recovered
follow up: he tries really hard to keep the fact that he’s a college dropout a secret. hes doing a moderately good job (thank you BSD Wiki for this wonderful piece of information 🫶)
he hates black coffee
prefers podcasts to music
if he didn't have his schedule, he would just be a walking disaster. that notebook is the only thing holding him together (that's and probably spite)
he writes down things people mention they like and looks back on the list for birthday and holiday gifts
he either has a photographic memory or instantly forgets. no in between
he has attempted to teach Atsushi to drive. keyword ATTEMPTED (Yosano took over).
he is actually really good at explaining things when he has the patience to. he's just perpetually at his wits end
he and Chuuya have bonded (aka bitched about) what it’s like having Dazai as a partner
he’s very strict about getting 3 meals a day.
follow up: if he doesn’t get 3 meals, he will be hangry
double follow up: unless he’s in fight or flight mode, any level of disregulation throws him off and messes with his mood.
very much values his personal time! when he does have the opportunity to stick his phone on Do Not Disturb (which is rare) he MEANS IT
in relation: he lets a grand total of 4 peoples messages/calls break his Do Not Disturb: Fukazawa (really only for work emergencies though), Katai, Rokuzo, Dazai (this is one of the few things Dazai doesn't actually try and mess with. it is for emergencies only, and he knows that)
Kunikida can, will and has (at least 3 times) uprooted his entire schedule to make sure Dazai is safe. Dazai WILL get shit for it when he's better, but that's just cause Kunikida is Kunikida

It’s that time again so here are my predictions for Bsd chapter 119.
Not many this time because fuck me I have no idea.
Fyodor calls Atsushi an angel (in reference to when Shibusawa called Atsushi “the angel that’ll save me.”)
Fyodor tells Atsushi that Dazai’s dead.
Tecchou is killed.
Tecchou is killed and like Teruko sees Fukuchi’s face in Gozens.
Or at the very least recognises his voice in Gozen.
Nathaniel Hawthorne breaks free of Annes locked door and faces Kyouka and Lucy. (Which will eventually lead them to have to escape out of Anne’s Room.)
Fyodor gives Atsushi the choice to join him.
Ranpo shows up.
Ranpo shows up and tells Atsushi not to believe Fyodor’s lies.
Fyodor sees Ranpo and remarks ah so your the one he (Dazai) mentioned the one who exceeds all the gifted.
Ranpo (if he shows up) tries to seal Fyodor in one of Poe’s novels and fails.
Fyodor tells Atsushi this is all happened because of you.But that if you join me, I’ll bring everyone back.
It’s revealed Fyodor’s why Atsushi was in the orphanage to begin with.
It’s revealed Fyodor’s why Atsushi was kicked out of the orphanage.
Fukazawa grieves his fallen.
Fukuzawa questions why Gozen spared him.

5 or 4 for wip ask game🔥🔥🔥
Ok so I'm gonna do 5 because 4 isn't as fleshed out 😭
This is an aku in the agency fic (obviously from the name lmao) but I was trying to think of realistically why Aku would leave the PM and I concluded that he would actually leave the pm if something happened to Gin and it spiraled from there
Also I started writing this after aku got turned but before he came back, so its not completely canon compliant lmao
____________________
“Akutagawa-kun," Mori smiles, his tone cold. He folds his hands together over his desk slowly, pleasantly, as though they had all the time in the world.
As though Gin weren't—
"I don't believe you understand." Mori's voice interrupts his thoughts, a cheerful leer in his words. "You see, by leaving this room, you are forsaking the Port Mafia. There is no undoing such rash decisions. You will be treated as an enemy, a deserter. And I'm sure you know how we treat deserters, Akutagawa-kun.”
His stare bores into Ryuunosuke, "I'll give you one chance to reconsider. Take back your words, and we'll forget all about this... unfortunate exchange. Wouldn't that be nice?"
Ryuunosuke grits his teeth, Rashomon thrumming to life before he can tell her to stop.
If he leaves, he'll be on the run for the rest of his life. If he's caught, he'll be killed as a traitor, or worse, tortured as an example. He's seen it happen—hell, he's executed it himself. Doing this was signing his own death warrant.
So be it.
“Then, Mori-san," Ryuunosuke turns to the door, sliding it open, and calls behind his back, "Consider this my formal resignation.” He doesn't activate Rashomon—Mori won't bother injuring him now. He'll take too much delight in tracking Ryuunosuke and Gin down to risk making it any easier for himself.
So Ryuunosuke leaves. He turns down the hall, just like he would after any normal report, with rage crackling in his veins. He steps out of the building as rain beats down on the pavement, Rashomon crackling with pent up energy as he scans the streets.
He takes the first car he sees.
Gin had known she was in danger. She had to have, because she made Ryuunosuke promise not to do anything dangerous on her behalf before she left. He'd thought she was just teasing.
Until she hadn't returned.
Ryuunosuke got the mission details from some grunt who'd barely had the chance to explain himself before his leg was impaled. It wasn't a normal job, not for her. Gin was a stealth operative, but this mission gave her no outs. It was a job better suited to any of the other members of the Black Lizard. The area, an underground military base, was terrible for infiltration, consisting of barely a dozen connected rooms with an open layout.
It was only the type of job she would take if no one else could possibly could.
Ryuunosuke went to Mori. Under normal circumstances, he would have never done something so brash. But as though he were being pulled by some force, his feet drew him to the office, only one thought in his mind.
He was not going to lose her.
When Ryuunosuke demanded to know why she had been given the mission, Mori’s answer was simple.
“I have no more need for her.”
His mind fell blank. Ryuunosuke found that in mere seconds, he no longer cared for the organization that had kept him alive for so long. The thick collar around his neck was destroyed as easily as paper.
Gin’s mission was in an old military base. Ryuunosuke suspected it was tipped off by Tachihara, who rejoined the Port Mafia after Fukuchi’s death. Apparently, that was his way of proving his loyalty to the mafia, even after his betrayal.
Ryuunosuke doesn't remember much from the “vampire incident.” He knows he was turned after being killed, and that the effects were eventually removed. The rest of the information had been withheld, but Ryuunosuke hadn't been exactly eager to learn. All he remembered was that his time spent while “turned” felt muddled, like he had fallen asleep and taken a very long time to wake up.
When he had, Nakajima was standing over him, grinning like a madman. He remembered asking what had happened (though it was more like "Tell me what happened, jinko.").
Annoyingly, all Nakajima had responded with was, “I just punched you until you woke up from your beauty sleep.”
Bastard. Ryuunosuke knows there was more than that to the story, but he'd been too tired to care. Everything went back to usual soon after. Fukuchi was dead, and all of the people who were turned into vampires became normal again. The ADA and the Port Mafia made a new alliance, once again to avoid fighting between the two groups as well as the destruction of Yokohama, and everything was as it was before the incident.
Well, almost everything. After a while, Ryuunosuke found that he was... stronger. Much stronger. Apparently, many who had been suffering from injuries or sickness were cured when they turned, and that boon remained even when they were freed.
Which meant that for the first time in his twenty years of living, Ryuunosuke could breathe. Actually breathe. There was no piercing in his lungs when he ran, no labor in his breath when he moved, and found himself more energized than he had ever been in his life.
He also learned that his illness had been holding back not only himself, but Rashomon. Without the fear of the effect of his ability on his disease, Rashomon was stronger than she had ever been.
Ryuunosuke has an odd connection with his ability, according to some. She isn't a conversation partner, but she's certainly sentient. She can respond to his emotions, and act without him if needed.
So when Ryuunosuke was healed, Rashomon was too.
There was always a lingering sense in his mind that she wasn't using the full extent of her ability. It frustrated him at first, making him feel like he wasn’t working hard enough to control her. But he realized, eventually, that she was doing that to save him. And that he didn’t need to control her, he needed to trust her. Trust that she was in tune with his emotions, and knew what he needed even when he wasn’t directly commanding her.
Even if it sounded cheesy as fuck.
That trust had only really begun after one particular mission. For most of his life, Ryuunosuke hadn't even known Rashomon could act on her own. But one night, he and Gin found themselves in trouble, and he looked away from her for one second too long. He heard her shout, and turned just as an attacker thrust a dagger towards her heart.
Ryuunosuke didn’t think fast enough, he couldn't. But Rashomon moved anyway. When, for the first time in years, she was in actual danger, the two were in perfect sync.
Their bond grew stronger after that.
When he turned human, Ryuunosuke could sense Rashomon's immediate surge in power. It was like a gate had been unlocked, strength surging through his body within the instant. He understood, then, that if he hadn't turned, he would have been too weak to ever use Rashomon to her full potential. That his “death” was a blessing in disguise.
He's glad for it. Because now, he faces an impossible amount of enemies. Not that it matters—he and Rashomon were together, as they always were when Gin was in danger. As they always would be.
The base is near the edge of Yokohama, and mostly underground. It connects to an unassuming structure, an abandoned restaurant. He finds the trapdoor easily, mentally scanning the layout of the base from his memories and focusing entirely on finding Gin.
The base isn't empty by any means, but Rashomon deals with that on her own. Ryuunosuke walks casually through each room, ignoring the bullets firing at his chest in favor of looking for cells or other places where hostages could be kept. She has to be here, somewhere. Ryuunosuke won't accept anything else.
The base is huge, much larger than its layout had suggested. Ryuunosuke curses whoever designed the place. He doesn't know why there are so many people still in the base, but he eventually starts to use the bodies as markers. At least until he notices something else. The bodies are still warm, twitching as he gets closer. Rashomon hasn't hit any vitals.
Ryuunosuke sighs. He knows why, after all. Rashomon has a strong moral code, and an even stronger competitive streak. Her moral code doesn't care much about murder, but it does care about promises. And one promise Ryuunosuke had made, six-ish months ago, was to not kill. Even after their fight to the death had been, for lack of better words, indefinitely postponed.
But Rashomon hasn't given up, and she's gotten quite good at incapacitating without actually killing.
He ignores it, knowing there's no point in trying to change her mind. He pushes open another door, expecting to find another ruthless barrage of bullets, but drops everything when he looks inside.
“Gin!” Ryuunosuke rushes to his sister, who lies crumpled on the floor. She's bleeding, heavily, and he can see small cuts along her arms. The room itself is sickening, weapons and the thick stench of blood in the air, red flecked along the tiles on the floor. He absently wonders how much of it is hers.
He hates the thought.
Pushing it out of his mind, he assesses the damage. She's unconscious, and from what he can tell, bleeding from four major areas. That's the only positive of the situation, however. The damage is bad, and he can't tell if she's breathing. It's too loud to hear anything. But she has to be. He refuses to believe she isn't.
Cursing, he wills Rashomon to wrap herself around Gin, being careful not to cause any more bleeding. Slowly, he holds his head over her mouth, holding his own breath and trying, desperately, to hear something. Anything to indicate she was still alive. He hears it.
He hears barely there shuddering breaths, and uses Rashomon to make her lungs widen and condense, trying to keep a normal pace. Her breathing is shallow, too shallow, but Ryuunosuke can only be relieved she's alive. But he also knows she won't be much longer.
He doesn't have the equipment to save her. Her wounds are intense, and he isn't sure if there's anything he can do besides keep Rashomon close to her and force her to keep breathing. He can't go back to the Port Mafia, can't go to a hospital. And he couldn’t save her himself.
Damn it. He knows what he has to do, but he doesn't like it.
But there's only knew one doctor that can save her as she is, and he's desperate. He refuses to let Gin die. She can't. He couldn’t live without his sister.
So he moves out of the base as quickly as he can, jumping into the car he had taken before he left. He places Gin in the back, using Rashomon to hold her still while he drives. He's sure he breaks plenty of road laws, but he doesn't particularly care.
In minutes, he arrives at the ADA building. Shit. He's really going to have to do this, isn't he? Might as well bite the bullet now. He needs to have as much time as possible to convince Yosano to heal Gin, and to pray that he has something worthwhile he can offer in return.
He throws open the car took, carrying Gin in his arms. Distantly, he hears shrieks from the cafe downstairs, but ignores them as he races up the stairwell to the actual office.
Rashomon throws open the door, and he immediately feels the stares of the entire agency on him.
“I need your doctor.”
The strict one, Kunikida, if Ryuunosuke remembers correctly, is the first to gain his composure.
“Are you insane? If you think we are going to hand over our doctor to the Port Mafia like this, then you must think us fools. Even in a truce, we didn’t volunteer to– What are you actually doing here? You are outnumbered and-”
“Please.” Ryuunosuke can barely recognize his own voice. It holds a desperation it never had, but he can feel Gin’s life slipping away and he is not going to listen as some fucking blond man tells him exactly why he knows he shouldn’t have come. “Please. Gin is...”
He hears a chair move, and turns to see a woman walk briskly towards him.
“Come.” He recognizes the doctor’s voice and darts forward. The doctor leads him into a room that looks like the infirmary. She motions to an empty bed, and he gingerly places Gin onto it. Is he really trusting a stranger with his sister’s life? Who the hell is he?
But there's nothing else he can do. He is weak, and he can do nothing but hope and pray that the people he had relentlessly tried to kill would see any value in her life. Yosano tells him to leave, and he stumbles out of the room, falling almost as soon as he enters the office again.
He's caught by... someone, and he vaguely recognizes the outfit before he looks down at his own. Dark red stains his white shirt, covering his side completely. When did that happen? He never even registered it, too focused on his sister to acknowledge anything else. He doesn't even care that he was stabbed. Rashomon had probably been doing everything she could for Gin. They both would agree that was a better use of her time.
But now he can feel it, it's almost blinding. He hears someone familiar calling his name and remembers again that he's in enemy territory (what isn't enemy territory now, he asks himself), but he can't stop his eyes from closing as darkness finally claims him.
* * *
Gin is by his side when he wakes up. She stands over him, and he recognizes the room to be the agency’s infirmary. Hadn’t he left after the doctor told him to?
Oh.
He feels arms wrap around him tight when he sits up, and takes a shaky breath. Gin. Gin is alright, and alive, and the agency’s doctor saved them both for some reason. What does he even have to offer? He'd give up anything in thanks. But his status in the mafia is gone, and it isn't likely he still has access to his bank account.
He pulls back and looks over Gin’s face, but none of the injuries still mar her skin.
“Ryuu.” Her voice startles him. Gin doesn't like to talk, usually opting to sign anything she needed to express. “The agency wants to see us.”
When he puts Rashomon back around his shoulders, he calms at the familiar feeling. He's honestly surprised they let him have her, but he's grateful nonetheless.
He can hardly recognize himself anymore.
The siblings leave the infirmary together and find a dozen eyes on them immediately. Gin puts her hand over his, and he calms, putting Rashomon away. He hadn't even realized she appeared, but he was clearly still on edge from the day before.
“Sit.” Kunikida points to two chairs put together in the middle of the room. They comply, but Ryuunosuke internally catalogs all the ways they could escape if they needed to. The window isn't open, but he knows from experience it isn't hard to break. It doesn't seem like the entire agency was present, so the door itself would likely be a bad way to go. He wouldn’t be able to see someone coming from the other way.
He hears another voice, annoying and loud and unfortunately familiar.
“So, Akutagawa~” his tone is light, and Ryuunosuke has to hold back a shudder. “What does Mori want you to do here?”
He straightens unintentionally, cursing at instinct, at memories and the fear that bolts through his heart. Then, he speaks.
“Mori doesn’t want anything.”
Ryuunosuke pauses, letting himself prepare for the statement he needs to say. A certain part of him doesn't want to believe it.
“I am no longer a member of the Port Mafia. Neither is Gin.”
The silence is almost deafening. Well, it would have been, if Nakajima hadn’t dropped the cup he was holding in shock. The crash is deafening, however, and the weretiger blushes when the agency glance towards him.
Ryuunosuke appreciates the loss of attention, though, and he takes the opportunity to look at Gin. She's staring right back at him, her eyes wide and her mouth hanging open just barely. It's the most expression he's ever seen her wear in public, and he nods as if to confirm her questions.
“Ryuu, you promised not to do anything-” her voice is quiet, but angry.
“He wanted you dead–” he argues back, voice hushed. :ike hell Ryuunosuke was going to sit and wait for her to die.
“Why did he want Gin dead?” Nakajima asks, looking confused. Damn the weretiger and his freakish hearing. He doesn't bother keeping hiding his scowl.
"Is eavesdropping a new habit, jinko?"
Nakajima's face scrunches up, and Ryuunosuke has to hold back a sneer.
“Let’s not start a fight in the office, hm? Although I wouldn’t be opposed if someone wanted to get healed again.” The doctor speaks, smiling, and Ryuunosuke notices everyone in the agency flinch. It surprises him. He knew that the doctor was powerful, but he hadn't expected such an obvious reaction from the other members of the group. He realizes then that he does hold respect for her, even if they had been on opposing sides before.
And he realizes that despite every bone in his body protesting, he has something he needs to say.
“You’re right. I apologize. And… thank you– for saving my sister.” His head hung low, the words burn on his tongue. But even the rabid dog of the Port Mafia can see the significance of what she did. Not that he was the Port Mafia’s dog any longer. Nevertheless, he can swallow his pride to thank Gin’s savior.
The room goes silent again, and only then does he dare look up at the doctor. She's smiling softly, and it isn't at all like the other smile she’d worn.
“I’m a doctor, it’s what I do,” she nods to Ryuunosuke, and Gin takes a breath.
“Thank you. We will do anything we can to repay you.” Her voice is soft, softer than she ever let it be, and he glances around the room. If anyone said anything about it, he would skewer them, savior or not.
But everyone’s eyes were still on him. He's glad they aren't staring at Gin, she always hated attention more than he did, but it still makes him want to hide. He feels weak, sitting in the agency, offering to give whatever they have left. He's sure that with his ability’s new strength, he can easily beat most of the people present, but their stares drill holes in his head.
The weretiger looks stunned. Ryuunosuke’s eyes narrow when they met yellow and purple irises, and Nakajima turns away just as quickly.
“What are your plans now?” The doctor asks. For some reason, he answers.
“Leaving. We’ll have to leave Japan, stay on the run until Mori gets bored looking for us. He let me walk out, but I doubt he plans on leaving it like that.”
She nods, and the room goes silent. A door opens, and closes, and he looks back to Gin with what he hopes is a comforting expression. It's him, of course, so it probably isn't terribly nice, but she knows better than most. She smiles back softly.
"“We’ll probably go to Europe, maybe France, if we can get tickets fast enough,” he laughed, and the sound was coarse and raw. “Maybe we’ll work for the goddamn government.”
"Maybe—" a regal voice fills the room, making Ryuunosuke glance towards the now open door. The president stands calm, his hands folded at his waist. "—We can come to an agreement."

Dude Bruce Wayne (DC) and Fukazawa (BSD) should meet. Like they have so much in common, they both accidentally adopted their first kid and it got out of hand from there
They both stop crime, have unofficial children, other stuff that I can’t think of-
Like there’s potential for a crossover here
