Sweet Home is filled with blood and gore but then there's this sweet moment with the gangster and the preacher.

A chill went down Dorian's spine.

And maybe it was the open ocean, or the endless stars above them, but Dorian said, "It wasn't enough. That day ... that day Sorscha died, it wasn't enough to save her." He spread his hands on his lap. "It only wishes to destroy."

Silence fell, long enough that Dorian wondered if Rowan had fallen asleep. He hadn't dared ask when the prince himself had last slept; he'd certainly eaten enough for a starved man.

"I was not there to save my mate when she was murdered, either," Rowan said at last.

Dorian straightened. Aelin had told him plenty of the prince's history, but not this. He supposed it wasn't her secret, her sorrow to share.

"I'm sorry," Dorian said.

His magic had felt the bond between Aelin and Rowan—the bond that went deeper than blood, than their magic, and he'd assumed it was just that they were mates, and hadn't announced it to anyone. But if Rowan already had a mate, and had lost her …

Rowan said, "You're going to hate the world, Dorian. You are going to hate yourself. You will hate your magic, and you will hate any moment of peace or happiness. But I had the luxury of a kingdom at peace and no one depending upon me. You do not."

Rowan shifted the rudder, adjusting their course farther out to sea as the coastline jutted to meet them, a rising wall of steep cliffs. He'd known they were traveling swiftly, but they had to be almost halfway to the southern border— and traveling far faster than he'd realized under the cover of darkness.

Dorian said at last, "I am the sovereign of a broken kingdom. My people do not know who rules them. And now that I am fleeing ..." He shook his head, exhaustion gnawing on his bones. "Have I yielded my kingdom to Erawan? What—what do I even do from here?"

The ship's creaking and the rush of water were the only sounds. "Your people will have learned by now that you were not among the dead. It is upon you to tell them how to interpret it—if they are to see you as abandoning them, or if they are to see you as a man who is leaving to find help—to save them. You must make that clear."

"By going to the Dead Islands."

A nod. "Aelin, unsurprisingly, has a fraught history with the Pirate Lord. You don't. It's in your best interest to make him see you as an advantageous ally. Aedion told me the Dead Islands were once overrun by General Narrok and several of Erawan's forces. Rolfe and his fleet fled-and though Rolfe is now once more ruler of Skull's Bay, that disgrace might be your way in with him. Convince him you are not your father's son—and that you'll grant Rolfe and his pirates privileges."

"You mean turn them into privateers."

"You have gold, we have gold. If promising Rolfe money and free rein to loot Erawan's ships will secure us an armada in the South, we'd be fools to shy from it."

Dorian considered the prince's words.

"I've never met a pirate."

"You met Aelin when she was still pretending to be Celaena," Rowan said drily. "I can promise you Rolfe won't be much worse."

"That's not reassuring."

A huffed laugh. Silence fell between them again.

At last, Rowan said, "I'm sorry—about Sorscha."

Dorian shrugged, and hated himself for the gesture, as if it diminished what Sorscha had meant, how brave she'd been—how special.

"You know," he said, "sometimes I wish Chaol were here to help me. And then sometimes I'm glad he's not, so he wouldn't be at risk again. I'm glad he's in Antica with Nesryn." He studied the prince, the lethal lines of his body, the predatory stillness with which he sat, even as he manned their boat. "Could you-could you teach me about magic? Not everything, mean, but ... what you can, whenever we can.

Rowan considered for a moment, and then said,

"I have known many kings in my life, Dorian Havilliard. And it was a rare man indeed who asked for help when he needed it, who would put aside pride."

Dorian was fairly certain his pride had been shredded under the claws of the Valg prince.

"I'll teach you as much as I can before we arrive in Skull's Bay," Rowan said. "We may find someone there who escaped the butchers-someone to instruct you more than I can."

"You taught Aelin."

Again, silence. Then, "Aelin is my heart. I taught her what I knew, and it worked because our magics understood each other deep down. Just as our souls did. You are ... different. Your magic is something I have rarely encountered. You need someone who grasps it, or at least how to train you in it. But I can teach you control; I can teach you about spiraling down into your power, and taking care of yourself."

Dorian nodded his thanks. "The first time you met Aelin, did you know ...?"

A snort. "No. Gods, no. We wanted to kill each other." The amusement flickered. "She was ... in a very dark place. We both were. But we led each other out of it. Found a way together."

For a heartbeat, Dorian could only stare. As if reading his mind, Rowan said, "You will find your way, too, Dorian. You'll find your way out."

He didn't have the right words to convey what was in his heart, so he sighed up at the starry, endless sky. "To Skull's Bay, then."

Rowan's smile was a slash of white in the darkness. "To Skull's Bay."

Just saw a comic where 2 people are on a road trip and the one in the passenger seat got bored so they decided to give the driver the suck, and now I can't not make a sillier, non-sex NSFW version of such a situation

A True Bromance: Part Two

I took the vial Mark was holding up in his hands. I studied the viscous blue liquid in the vial before bringing it up to my nose and taking a sniff.

“Fuck Mark. You made two shapeshifting potions? I’ve never tried this before. Who is this going to turn me into?” The differing blue potion smelled similarly to Mark’s potion - musk and body odor.

“You’ll just have to find out bro. But I’ll give you a hint - I didn’t go too much further to get the undies for this potion. I’ll bet the two of them were buds.”

“You really want me to change too, huh?” I asked him with a suspicious look as I swirled the vial in my hand.

“Duh, bro. Now c’mon drink up. This dude’s dick is so sensitive.” Mark taunted as he grabbed his manhood and began to jerk it a little bit.

I looked at the potion and thought about the prospects it would bring. I’d never shifted before but the thought of wearing another guy’s body for a bit did turn me on a lot. I didn’t want Mark to know it, but I really did have a serious kink for this kind of stuff.

Feigning a hesitant drink, I brought the vial to my lips and drank the blue potion in one smooth gulp. Instantly I could feel my insides burning, but it wasn’t painful - more erotic.

“Fuck Mark. I can’t believe you are making me do th- UGH!”

I doubled over as I felt my insides twisting and churning. I looked down and saw my body proportions changing before my very eyes. I watched as I started to get taller and my belly receded, being replaced by a set of toned hairy abs.

My skin began to tingle and tan and I watched in a mixture of awe and ecstasy as my arms and legs reshaped, becoming unfamiliar to my normally thick ones. Damn, this guy was a real bro. I noticed as I was moaning that my voice was slowly changing, becoming a mixture of my own and the guy I was turning into.

“Fuck bro. Watching you get fit as fuck like that is hot. I’ll miss our bear bellies, but it’s fun to have a jock’s build.” He flaunted as he ran a hand down his hairy abs and kept jerking himself off.

As my transformation finished and my moaning subsided, I looked down to see a light dusting of hair covering my abs and chest. I extended my arms out in front of me and cracked my knuckles before flexing and admiring my body.

“Damn Mark. How do I look?” I asked him in my new unfamiliar voice. It sounded like I had a frat bro accent. “Whoa, I sound different.”

“Mmm, yeah you do bro. You look good enough to fuck!”

Suddenly Mark tackled me to the bed and we began to passionately make out as he pinned me down with his new found weight. It felt weird being dominated by someone I did not recognize and it definitely felt weird since I didn’t feel our guts up against each other. You have no idea just how much I love the pre-Flashpoint Catman and the Secret Six. All these attempts to make the Suicide Squad seem like found family and shit? That's them.

Catman went from a bored rich dude to a joke, to a washed up, out-of-shape nobody who got ridiculed by Green Arrow and Arsenal. And then he goes to Africa to take control of his life, to better himself.

When the villain community was being coerced, threatened or manipulated into joining the Secret Society, Catman said no. To the faces of Talia and Dr. Psycho. When they started threatening him, he tells them he doesn't care and to fuck off. Talia is reminded of Batman and Dr. Psycho holds a grudge against the man for a good long while.

He's then approached by Scandal Savage and Deadshot to join them because they also refused the Society's offer. He does. And they manage to resist the Society's torture and hold them off long enough for the attack on the Six to be called off.

His bromance with Deadshot, budding romance with Huntress (being the Catwoman to her Batman), fighting Batman to a standstill with the two showing each other respect, the interactions with the rest of the Six, Scandal's relationship with a stripper who has a heart of gold, Bane going a date with one of the stripper's friends, Deadshot shooting Waller and telling her where to stick it when she tries to force him to come back to work for her, Bane trying to be a father figure to Scandal, Ragdoll III trying to lift everyone's spirits while dealing with his own loneliness, the motherly nature of Jeanette when dealing with her teammates, Scandal & Catman trying to be the moral anchors of the group etc. I adore this shit so much.

There's an issue where Deadshot meets with a reverend when he feels he's losing controls of his homicidal urges. Talks about his family, his first meeting with the Bat, why he can't kill him, the root of his urges etc.

When they go to Hell (no, really, they do), Catman asks Etrigan to show him his father and we learn the messed up childhood he had and Catman is at peace when he sees that his dad is being punished and when Etrigan reveals why his mother got the fate she did in the afterlife.

They fought the Society, Vandal Savage, Wonder Woman, slavers, the Birds of Prey, entire swathes of villains, the Doom Patrol, went to defend Gotham after Batman died in Final Crisis, fought Amanda Waller and her Suicide Squad, went to Hell and more or less came out on top before going out in a blaze of glory against almost the entire hero community. They would both kill each other and die for each other.

Seriously, go read the "Villains United" and the "Secret Six" titles.

-- Baxter and Derek LOVE each other. Baxter would eat him up with a spoon. It doesn't matter if you end up with Derek and then reconnect with Baxter, if you end up with Baxter and introduce him to Derek, or end up with Cove and they meet at the wedding, this is the bromance we need to be talking about.

-- I thought about this because I was playing the wedding DLC last night and when you call Derek to ask him to be in the wedding party he answers "Hi, this is Derek," like yeah buddy, this isn’t 1999 on a landline, I know exactly who I'm calling. It was so cute and polite and formal, so I thought about Baxter's old texting style and how adorable it would be for them to communicate, then boom, they are best friends.

-- Baxter thinks Derek is the most charming person in the entire world, and he appreciates how well he was raised. He likes that he always opens doors and pulls out chairs. Derek does all the old-fashioned gentleman stuff too, like he always makes sure you walk on the inside of the sidewalk, if you're cold and he has at least one stitch of clothing on, you're getting it, and Baxter thinks that just so nice.

-- This isn't unique at all, but I like to think that you do all three Step 4s -- so regardless of romance, you go to your moms' anniversary with Cove, spend Father's Day with Derek, and meet up with Baxter at the wedding. So even if you end up with Derek, you make friends with Baxter again, and can you imagine planning a wedding with Derek when you and Baxter are solid buds? I love it so much.

-- One more one more -- Baxter and Derek making friends and Baxter going over to the Suarez house for events. Nicolas is OBSESSED with him, he's such a weirdo and plus Xavier likes him so that's an automatic win. But Derek's parents take Baxter in too, and now he's got a place to spend Father's Day and it just makes him feel so warm and cozy.

-- Is there another guy in this series LOL

-- There's at least a 90% chance that you cut Cove's hair for him. If you reeeeeally aren't comfortable with it then obviously he won't force it, but it just makes sense to him for you to trim it up for him when he needs it so he doesn't have to make it a whole thing. If you don't do a good job, that's ok with him -- you tried your best and he loves you for it!

-- Do you and Cove have a kid? Cove is that kid's doodle pad, and he gets at least one tattoo of a lil baby drawing your kid did. You might have to convince him not to do it every time. He loves that baby more than anything and the thought of having a little piece of them with him always, ugh, he really likes that.

-- Baxter loves cats and wants one very badly but he does that whole thing for a while where he doesn't feel like he deserves affection from any other living beings, so you'll have to talk him into it. But when you do, that cat is his child.

-- I'm not saying Baxter is in danger of turning into a crazy cat lady, but you might want to keep an eye on it.

-- "Baxter, did you spend $500 on this fancy robot litter box?" "Yes."

-- Baxter (I am currently on a Baxter kick, sorry) references magic several times throughout the story. Honestly I don't really know what else to day about this, but I think it's really sweet and important that he talks about it more than once.

-- Both Cove and Derek canonically like it when you wear their clothes, but Baxter likes to wear yours. It doesn't matter if you're smaller than him or if you wear traditionally feminine clothes, he wants in them. they smell like you and remind him of you, especially if you're long distance in the beginning after Jude and Scott's wedding. He's not going to like go out in them, but he'll wear your hoodie around the house for sure.

-- This also isn't like a hot take I don't think, but none of the boys ever change, ever. Like they grow and stuff, but if you're with Cove, he's going to be clingy and have heart eyes for you when you're 80, and there literally will not be a day that goes by for the rest of your entire life that he doesn't tell you that he loves you -- guy is going to be on his deathbed and blushing when you tell him how you feel about him. Likewise, Derek is going to be Derek forever -- always just so so excited to be with you. Hope you can handle literal decades of "it's Derek Day." Baxter does have a lot of settling to do, but please imagine a 90-year-old man smirking at you and giving you those flirty little lines. He'll never stop.
