Well. I had a good day.

Work was involved and fascinating.

I had 2 meals that including dandelion flowers. Bahahahahaa.

I am finally able to fit a workout top, cute as heck. It has a built in bra. I tried so hard for cute outfits when I was bigger but they rarely worked well.

80 min elliptical workout while watching some Castle.

I had some tea in place of a dessert. It was a collagen tea, I think. Honey chamomile.

I am just finishing an episode while winding down.

It was a good day.

This was a much better day. Cravings were low. Food was good, delicious and healthy as fuck.

Go me!

A bit of everything: festivals, journals, rage scribbling and a hospital visit

Update for the week of 11th (Sun) - 17th (Sat) November

Uneventful on a large scale, but filled with tiny events.

My flu had gotten worse this week and I had fever. So I went to the university clinic to get a nebulizer dose (that's me in the picture with the mask) and some cough drops.

Sunday was Deepavali (or Diwali), the Indian festival of lights. I and my friend went to our other friend's home for celebrations. We had a great time with their family - my friend, her husband, in-laws, aunts, uncles and a cute fluffy doggy! It was so good, but I still had fever and I was napping at their home all throughout the day. We came back to the hostel watching fireworks all along the way. A wonderful evening <3

Great news: I got selected for a workshop in Europe!! They also awarded me a full Registration Grant and a partial travel grant! I just feel so happy (still can't believe it though) and I'll share more details with you guys soon.

The Nexus is a gargantuan artificial intelligence built to design and sustain a city. It partially succeeded, before being interrupted by the outbreak of a world war. Most of humanity was wiped out, and the Nexus was left in a state of disrepair in a dead city.

Humans were left in little pockets of scavenging groups, while most other AI were made with military or industrial purposes in mind, so went haywire picking fights with these humans or exploding anyone trying to rob their meager supplies. Ari is the 'leader' of one such group, who have had bad run-ins with other AIs, but they thought the Nexus was dead, so deemed it safe to explore.

The Nexus missed people terribly. It was at first afraid, but then welcomed its new population. It gives the group shelter and information about stable human settlement, while the group gradually trust it enough to learn to repair it. Ari, the most technically skilled and curious of the bunch, is bestowed the honor of working very closely with the Nexus. They grow close.

occasionally i encounter posts about people using like. language learning apps and figuring out their reading level and it's like okay yeah that probably is easier than going on internet archive sorting by language picking an article and/or textbook that seems interesting and then pausing every two seconds to look up words but i've chosen the hard road and i'm sticking with it 👍

Cassie’s world building to me is really funny, because I don’t think it’s as bad as people say it but it is ALSO all over the place at the same time.

My opinion is that I think the way certain things are presented work really within that series! Like loads of these timelines don’t make sense but it works inside that series 🙏🏻. You can tell from TMI to her latest instalments she’s changed her mind about most things (city of bones is soo SW: phantom menace coded to me because there’s like 5 things she introduces we never see again). she has more important things to worry about, like every male character she’s ever written being 5’11

omg i love this question so much! finding your signature elements is literally one of the most fun parts of building your personal aesthetic. it's like creating your own character design for the main character (you!).

i spent years feeling like i was just collecting random pretty things without any real cohesion. then i realized that having intentional signatures makes you memorable and gives you this sense of identity that feels so grounding. so here's my process for finding yours!

this one's actually more intuitive than people make it seem! start by noticing:

what color do you naturally gravitate toward when shopping?

which color consistently makes you feel confident when you wear it?

what color are most of your favorite items already?

which color feels like "you" even if you can't explain why?

for me it's a specific shade of light pink (surprise surprise). i noticed i kept buying everything in this color without even realizing it. your signature doesn't have to be just one color though! it could be a palette of 2-3 colors that work together.

pro tip: once you find it, add little touches of your color everywhere - phone case, water bottle, bookmarks. it creates this subtle cohesion in your life that feels so satisfying.

this one is so powerful because scent ties directly to memory! people will literally think of you when they smell your signature scent elsewhere.

get sample sizes before committing (i wasted so much money before learning this)

wear a potential signature for at least a week straight

notice which one you keep reaching for without thinking

consider different concentrations (perfume, lotion, hair mist) for layering

my signature is a vanilla sandalwood that's slightly sweet but not too young feeling. i have it in everything from perfume to hand cream so the scent follows me subtly.

the key with signature jewelry is choosing pieces you can wear literally every day without getting tired of them:

what pieces do you feel naked without?

which ones go with everything you wear?

what has personal meaning beyond just looking pretty?

i have these tiny star earrings i never take out and a delicate chain bracelet with my initial. they're subtle enough to go with everything but still distinctly "me."

there are so many other fun signatures you can develop:

a signature nail color or style

a signature accessory (headband, hair clip, specific bag)

a signature drink order (baristas at my local café start making mine when i walk in)

a signature makeup look (for me it's barely-there makeup with winged liner, or douyin makeup)

a signature phrase or greeting

the best signatures evolve naturally and feel effortless. if you're forcing it, it's probably not right for you! and remember signatures can evolve as you do - mine have shifted slightly over the years while still maintaining their essence.

big fan of padmé traits that people like to dismiss as inconsistencies or writing flaws or reasons to dislike her. love how she’s idealistic to a fault. love her moral inconsistencies. love her staunch refusal to not see the best in those she loves. i find it much more fun to engage with these aspects of her than decry them as making no sense
