Reading the Books of Sayyid Qutb
Do you advise the youth to read Sayyid Quṭb's books, and what is your opinion on Shaykh Rabīʿs books about Sayyid Quṭb, especially since some warn against them? Sayyid Quṭb is considered a literary figure. He lived in disbelief for eleven years, سيد قطب يعتبر أديباً من الأدباء مكث مع الالحاد إحدى عشرة سنة then Allah, the Sublime and Exalted, guided him. He did not sit with al-ʿulamāʾ (ie: the scholars); ولم يجالس العلماء؛ he relied on his own fikr (ie: thoughts). He is considered a literary figure among those whom the verse of Allah, the Almighty, applies: {And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; Do you not see that they roam in every valley and that they say what they do not do? - Except those who believe, do righteous deeds, remember Allah often, and defend themselves after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned} (26:224-227). So I ask the questioner: Have you read the entire “Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr”? ، Have you read the entire “Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī”? ، Have you read the entire “Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim”? ، Have you read the entire “Musnad Aḥmad”? ، Have you read the entire “Sunan Abū Dāwūd”? ، Have you read the entire “Jāmīʿ at-Tirmiḏī”? ، Have you read the entire “Sunan al-Nasāʿī”? ، Or is it (only) after Sayyid Quṭb (that you will read those)? !، Some people have become extremists in takfīr (ie: declaring Muslims as unbelievers) just by reading Sayyid Quṭb's books because of his frequent mention of “al-Ṭaġūt” and “al-Ṭaġūt.” Yes, we say: al-Ṭaġūt; but many times, we do not mean that this (Ṭaġūt) is outside the religion of Islām. Therefore, I do not recommend reading the books of Sayyid Quṭb, فأنا لا أنصح بقراءة كتب سيد قطب، nor the books of Muḥammad al-Ġazzālī, ولا بقراءة كتب محمدٍ الغزالي، nor the books of Muḥammad Quṭb, ولا بقراءة كتب محمد قطب، nor the books of Zaynab al-Ġazzālī. Brothers, read the books of the Sunnah; يا إخواننا اقرؤوا كتب السنة؛ the book “Kitāb al-Tawḥīd” on the names and attributes of Allah by Ibn Khuzaymah, كتاب في الأسماء والصفات لابن خزيمة، “al-Sunnah” by Ibn Abī ʿĀṣim, لابن أبي عاصم، “al-Sharīʿah” by al-Ājurrī, للآجري، “Sharḥ al-Sunnah” by al-Lālikāʿī, للالكائي، “al-Sunnah” by Muḥammad b. Naṣr al-Marwazī, لمحمد بن نصر المروزي، the book “al-Īmān” by al-Qāsim b. Sallam, كتاب للقاسم بن سلام، and so on from the kutub ʿulamāʾnā al-mutaqaddimīn (ie: books of our earlier scholars). Allah has preserved His religion: {Indeed, it is We who sent down the ḏikr (the Qurʾān) and indeed, We will be its guardian} (15:9). I do not declare Sayyid Quṭb an unbeliever; ولست أكفر سيد قطب؛ however, I say that his books should not be relied upon, ولكن أقول: إنه لا يعتمد عليه في كتبه، and may Allah reward our brother Rabīʿ b. Hādī, may Allah preserve him, who has advised and clarified the deviations and misguidances in the books of Sayyid Quṭb, and all praise is due to Allah. There Were More...
Abū Bakr al-Ismāʿīli reported that al-Bukhārī said: “I did not include in this book except Ṣaḥīḥ narrations, and the amount of Ṣaḥīḥ narrations that I omitted are even more (than that which is present in the book).” 🌷Du’aas at times of Calamity and Tribulations🌷
The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) used to seek refuge with Allaah a great deal from trials and tribulations, and would say:
“Seek refuge with Allaah from trials and tribulations, both visible and hidden.” (Muslim).
We should know these duaas and use them to seek refuge in Allaah when we are tested. Some of these are:
🌷1) Ibn ‘Abbaas radhi Allaahu anhu
said that the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) said:
“My Lord came to me tonight in the most beautiful form…” and in this hadeeth he said that Allaah said,
“O Muhammad, when you pray, then say:
‎اللهم إني أسألك فعل الخيرات ، وترك المنكرات ، وحب المساكين ، وأن تغفر لي وترحمني وتتوب علي ، وإن أردت بعبادك فتنة فاقبضني
‎إليك غير مفتون
‘Allaahumma inni as’aluka fi’l al-khayraat wa tark al-munkaraat, wa hubb al-masaakeen, wa an taghfira lee wa tarhamanee wa tatooba ‘alayya. Wa in aradta bi ‘ibaadika fitnatan, faqbidnee ilayka ghayra maftoon’
“O Allaah, I ask You (to enable me) to do good deeds and avoid evil deeds, and to love the poor, and (I ask You) to forgive me, have mercy on me and accept my repentance. If You will that some trial should befall Your slaves, then take me to You [i.e., cause me to die] without having subjected to that trial).”
(Tirmidhi- saheeh by al-Albaani)
Additionally, at the end of the hadeeth, the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam said,
“Verily it is true so learn it and teach it.”“
🌷 2) Umm Salama radhi Allaahu anhaa said that the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) said:
“There is no Muslim who is afflicted with a calamity and says that which Allaah has enjoined...
“Innaa lillaahi wa inna ilayhi raaji’oon. Allaahumma ajurni fi museebati wakhluf li khayran minha”
“Verily to Allaah we belong and unto Him is our return. O Allaah, reward me for my calamity and compensate me with something better than it”
but Allaah will COMPENSATE him with something BETTER than it.”(Muslim)
🌷3) Ibn ‘Abbaas radhi Allaahu anhu said that the Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) used to say at times of distress:
‎لا إله إلا الله العظيم الحليم ، لا إله إلا الله رب العرش العظيم ، لا إله إلا الله رب السموات ورب الأرض ورب العرش الكريم
“Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah al-‘Azeem al-Haleem, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah Rabb al-‘Arsh al-‘azeem, la ilaaha ill-Allaah Rabb ul-samawaati wa Rabb ul-ard wa Rabb ul-‘Arsh il-kareem”
“There is no god but Allaah, the All-Powerful, the Forbearing; there is no god but Allaah, Lord of the mighty Throne; there is no god but Allaah, Lord of heaven, Lord of earth, and Lord of the noble Throne.”
(al-Bukhaari, Muslim).
🌷 4) The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) said:
“Shall I not tell you of something that, if any worldly calamity or disaster befalls any man among you and he says these words, he will be relieved of it. (It is) the du’aa’ of Dhu’l-Noon:
‎لا إله إلا أنت سبحانك إني كنت من الظالمين
“Laa ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka inni kuntu min al-zaalimeen
“None has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allaah), Glorified (and Exalted) be You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]! Truly, I have been of the wrongdoers.”
According to another report:
“No Muslim man says this du’aa’ concerning anything but Allaah will answer his prayer.”
(Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer wa Ziyaadatuhu)

🌷 5) The Messenger of Allaah sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said:
“The du’aa’ of the person who is in distress is:
‎اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا أَنْتَ
‘Allaahumma rahmataka arjoo fa laa takilni ilaa nafsi tarfat ‘ayn wa aslih li sha’ni kullahu laa ilaaha illa anta
“O Allaah, for Your mercy I hope, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for the blink of an eye; rectify all my affairs. There is no god except You” (Abu Dawood - Hasan by al-Albaani)
🌷 6) If some matter was troubling him, he (sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam) would say,
Yaa Hayyu yaa Qayyoom bi rahmatika astagheeth
“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek Your help.”
(Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer).
🌷 7) The Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) said to Asma’ bint ‘Umays radhi Allaahu anhaa:
“Shall I not teach you some words which you can say at times of distress and hardship?
‘Allaahu Allaahu rabbee laa ushriku bihi shay’an
(Allaah, Allaah is my Lord, I do not associate anything with Him).’”
(Abu Dawood -saheeh by al-Albaani)

🌷 8) The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said:
“There is no-one who is afflicted by distress and grief, and says:
‘Allaahumma inni ‘abduka ibn ‘abdika ibn amatija naasyati bi yadika, maada fiyya hukmuka, ‘adlun fiyya qadaa’uka. As’aluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw ‘allamtahu ahadan min khalqika aw ista’tharta bihi fi ‘ilm il-ghayb ‘indaka an taj’al al-Qur’aana rabee’ qalbi wa noor sadri wa jalaa’ huzni wa dhihaab hammi’
“O Allaah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your maidservant; my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You have named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the Unseen with You, that You make the Qur’aan the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety),’ but Allaah will take away his distress and grief, and replace it with joy.”
He was asked: “O Messenger of Allaah, should we learn this?”
He said: “Of course; everyone who hears it should learn it.”
(Ahmad- saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah)
May Allaah protect us all. Ameen
And Allaah knows best.

The Prophet said:
The du’aa of any one of you will be answered
so long as he does not seek to hasten it,
and does not say,
‘I made du’aa but I had no answer.’

Allah’s name Al-Mushin— The Good Doer, the one who does ultimate good— is not mentioned in the Quran but occurs in narrations of the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Al-Muhsin is the one who loves and inspires doing good in His slaves and who possesses the perfect good and excellence in all He makes happen!
The Good Doer, the Supreme Doer of Good
Muhsin comes from the root haa-seen-noon, which points to four main meanings. The first meaning is to be and to do good and to pursue excellence The second main meaning is to be beautiful, and the third is to be kind. The fourth main meaning is to be suitable, proper, and fitting.
This root appears 194 times in the Quran in 12 derived forms. Examples of these forms are ahsana (“does good”), ahsanu (“is best”), husnan (“good”) and al-muhsineena (“the good doers”).
Linguistically, hasana is the root for the words hasan (good), ahsan (better), and (al) husna (the best). The Islamic concept of ihsaan, or excellence, comes from the same root. A muhsin (male, plural muhsineen) and a muhsina (female, plural muhsinaat) are those who do good and who when saying someone did well, can say: ahsant (-i or –a), which means “well done” or “excellent!”
Al-Muhsin refers to the One who is perfectly good in His Essence and who does all His actions in the best possible manner, achieving excellence and reaching ultimate beauty and perfection.
The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Surely Allah is Muhsin and He loves ihsaan in everything; if you kill, kill in a good way and if you slaughtered, slaughter in a good way . . . [part of the hadith- At-Tabaraani and Al-Albaani, Saheeh Al-Jami]
Islam, emaan, and ihsaan
There are three degrees of Islam, which are Islam, eemaan, and ihsaan.  Islam means submission, and when mentioned separately from emaan it refers to the religion as a whole, as Allah says:  Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam. [Quran, 3:19] When Islam is used with the word eemaan (faith or belief) it refers to outward deeds and words, as Allah says:  The bedouins say: ‘We believe. Say: You believe not but you only say, We have surrendered (in Islam), for Faith has not yet entered your hearts…’ [Quran, 49:14]
The second degree is eeman, which means belief committed to submission and may mean one of two things. When it is used without the word “Islam,” it refers to the religion as a whole, as Allah ‘azza wa jall says:  Allah is the Wali of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into light. [Quran, 2:257]
Allah limited the word emaan to those who adhere to His religion in full, inwardly and outwardly, as He says: The believers are only those who, when Allaah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses are recited unto them, they increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord. [Quran, 8:2] When emaan is used with the word Islam it refers to inward beliefs, or the actions of the heart.
Thus, when either emaan or Islam are used alone, there is no difference and they both refer to the entire religion. If there is any difference between them, Islam refers to outward physical actions and the word eemaan refers to inward actions of the heart.
The third degree is ihsaan, which in Arabic means doing something well, perfectly, and sincerely. Islamically it may mean two things: when used alone and not with Islam or eemaan it refers to the religion as a whole.
When it is used with either or both Islam and eemaan the meaning is perfecting one’s outward and inward deeds. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam beautifully explained the meaning of ihsaan: It means worshipping Allah as if you can see Him, and although you cannot see Him, He can see you. [Al-Bukhaari, Muslim]
How can you live by this name?
1. Strive for ihsaan.
Ihsaan is a complete way of life, so let this concept accompany you in all your actions. Strive for al-ihsaan in your relationship with Allah ‘azza wa jall as in being able to worship Him as if you saw Him and strive for al-ihsaan as good behaviour to others, like kindness to your parents, relatives, the poor etc.
When you have a guest, give them the best you have. When you are with your parents, show them the best of your manners. Also appreciate the ihsaan of others.
Strive for al-ihsaan as an act of excellence and in your relationship with yourself, meaning in every deed you do, you try your best! When you are at your job, do your best, when you are at school, try your best. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Allah has prescribed al-ihsaan in every matter. [Muslim] SubhanAllah, we are even asked as Muslims to sharpen the knife when we slaughter as to cause minimal distress to the animal.
2. Study the Quran to find out what is good.
On many occasions in the Quran the muhsineen, the good doers, are mentioned. The muhsineen are loved by Allah ‘azza wa jall and close to Him and Allah even describes actions characterizing them, pay special attention to these ayaat. Allah says: And whoever submits his face to Allah while he is a doer of good (muhsin) – then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold . . .[Quran, 31:22]
Make it your mission to find out what the Quran says about what are good deeds and what their reward is, so you can apply them and become of the muhsineen inshaa’Allah!

3. Realize that Allah’s ways are excellent.
Allah is the only true Mushin. He is perfect in His Names, attributes, and actions. Truly realize that everything Allah ‘azza wa jall gives and takes from you, is for your own good, and let this inspire you to complain less and start being more content. Allah’s ihsaan is general with the whole creation; He created you in a perfect way without being asked and His ihsaan is specific. He rewards the good doers with the place of ultimate good: His Paradise!
4. Ask Al-Muhsin.
Allah ‘azza wa jall says in a heart-melting ayah in Surah Ar-Rahmaan: Hal jazaa’ul ihsaani illal-ihsaan – Is the reward for good [anything] but good? [Quran, 55:60]  Each day ask Al-Mushin for ihsaan in all aspects of your life, in your inward and outward actions. Do you worship Allah as if you see him or at least as he sees you? Ask Him to bless you with the highest degree of ihsaan: apart from being aware He sees you, worshipping Him as if you see Him!
5. Study the names of Allah.
O Allah, Al-Mushin, we know that You are Doer of ultimate good. Adorn us with ihsaan in all our aspects of life and make us worship you as if we see You.  Include us in the rewards of the muhsineen and make us live by the fact You are perfect and beyond excellence in Your dealings with us. Bless us with good in this life and the ultimate good in the Hereafter, seeing You in Paradise, ameen!

WHAT TO DO IN THE LAST 10 NIGHTS OF RAMADAN
by Asma bint Shameem Alhamdulillaah the long awaited last ten nights of Ramadhaan are here! Are you ready to spend these nights in worshipping Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala? Are you ready to give it your VERY BEST and get your sins forgiven?Yes! For sure Alhamdulillaah!🌷Aa’ishah Radhi Allaahu anhaasaid: “When the last ten days of Ramadhaan began, the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam would tighten his waist-wrapper, spend his nights in prayer, and wake his family.(al-Bukhaari 2024, Muslim 1174). So how to spend these beautiful nights so that Allaah will be pleased with us?🔺 Worship ALL TEN nights of this blessed month if possible, to be SURE to catch Laylatul-Qadr Bi idhnillaahi Ta’aala.
🔺Remember that Laylatul-Qadr starts at MAGHRIB time.
🔺Do NOT waste your time in unnecessary things. Rather take advantage of *EACH MINUTE and EACH SECOND*
🔺Prepare yourself:Get ready to worship Allaah in the best of forms by taking a bath, use miswaak, wear special clothes, and perfume yourself.
🍃 Ibn Rajab said:”Ibn Jareer said: They used to recommend to shower every night of the last ten nights and an-Nakhai used to shower in every night from them and he used to shower and use perfume in the nights which he hoped was laytul Qadr…[until he said]…Thabit said: Tamim ad-Daari used to have a hulla [type of clothing] which he bought for 1000 dinars and wore it on the night he hoped was laytul-Qadr. So like this, it is recommended in the night which it is hoped to be laytul-Qadr to clean oneself, adorn, use perfume, shower, wear good clothing as it is legislated for Jumu’ah and the Eids. Like this, it is legislated to wear adornment in all the prayers as Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala said:‎خُذُوا زِينَتَكُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ“O Children of Adam! Take your adornment (by wearing your clean clothes), while praying”[7:31]
🍃 Ibn Umar Radhi Allaahu anhu said:“Allaah has more right that you beautify yourself for him. It was also reported as a Hadeeth raised to the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alayhi wa Sallam [Saheeh Jami no. 652]”(Lataaif al-Maarif pg. 189)
🔺Pray Qiyaam al-Layl. 🍃The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever stands [in prayer] in Laylatul Qadr out of true faith and seeking reward, then his previous sins will be forgiven for him.” (Al-Bukhaari 1901 and Muslim 759)
🍃Shaikh ibn Baaz said:“Its standing is done by way of the prayer and by making dhikr and by supplicating and reciting the Qur’aan and other than that from the aspects of good.”(Majmoo’ Fataawaa vol 15 p.426)
🔹Pray LONG rak’aat in your Qiyaam. You can do that even if you’ve not memorized the Qur’aan, by reading directly from the Mus-haf. Try to read much of the Qur’aan in in each rak’ah. This way you get BOTH, your Salaah as well as your Qur’aan recitation done. Also do LONG Rukoo and Sujood. Make your rukoo long by saying the various adhkaar proven from the Sunnah. Prolong your sujood by making LOTS of duaas in Arabic (and in your OWN language if you don’t know Arabic) and in your own words. Go SLOW and ENJOY your solitude with your Rabb. SAVOR *every moment* of it. Don’t be in a rush.
🔺Read Qur’aan with MEANINGS. PONDER and REFLECT. And try to UNDERSTAND what your Rabb is commanding you.
🔺Make a LOT of duaa. Beg. Cry. Implore. ASK whatever you want. He’s *listening*. He *knows* what’s in your heart. But He likes to *hear* it from you.
🔺Do lots of ISTIGHFAAR especially the duaa that the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam taught Aaishah radhi Allaahu anhaa. ‎اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عني“Allaahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbul afwa fa’fu anni.”And don’t just “SAY” the words. “MEAN” it when you say...“O Allaah! Forgive me!REFLECT over your sins. And make sincere Taubah.
🔺Keep your tongue BUSY with DHIKR of Allaah while you’re driving to the masjid, preparing suhoor or any time you’re not reading Salaah or the Qur’aan. You can even LISTEN to the Qur’aan to take full advantage of the night.
🔺If you’re on your period, you can do ALL of the above except offer Salaah. And you can still read the Qur’aan in this state, as well. There’s no proof that a woman cannot read Qur’aan while on her menses. Just be careful not to touch it directly. Or you can use an electronic device instead.
🔺What about OTHER good deeds such as giving sadaqah, visiting the sick, or your family to keep up ties of kinship or other general good deeds?Although generally speaking, it is good to be extra generous in Ramadhaan, some of the scholars say that there’s nothing in the Sunnah that shows that the Prophet ﷺ specifically gave sadaqah or visited the sick or did other unspecified good deeds in the last ten day just because it’s Laylatul Qadr. The only thing that is proven from the authentic Sunnah is spending the night in prayer, reading Qur’aan and making duaa. That’s what the Prophet ﷺ did.
🍃 The scholars said:“What was narrated from the Prophet ﷺ concerning staying up at night during the last ten nights of Ramadhaan is that those nights should be spent in prayer and dhikr. Charity during Ramadhaan is better than charity at other times, but we do not know of anything in the Sunnah to indicate that giving charity in the last ten days is better. But the scholars stated that righteous deeds are better when done at times of virtue, and undoubtedly the last ten nights of Ramadhaan are better than any other nights, because Laylat al-Qadr is among them, which is better than a thousand months. Whatever the case, what is prescribed for the Muslim is to give a great deal of charity throughout Ramadhaan. The Prophet ﷺ was the most generous of people and he was at his most generous during Ramadhaan.”(al-Bukhaari 6, Muslim 2308)”(Islamqa Fatwa 37720)
🍃Someone asked Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen:“What is the ruling on specifying laylatul Qadr for giving a lot of charity?Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said: “This is likewise from the acts of innovations. It [i.e. Laylatul Qadr] should only be specified for the night prayer.”
🍃 Shaikh Abdul Azeez Aal Ash-Shaykh said:“No doubt charity in Ramadhaan has virtue, but is Laylatul-Qadr specified for charity over the other nights? This is something we withhold from saying.”
🍃 Shaikh Salih al-Usaymee explains this and said:“The fourth subject is the author’s statement, ‘The actions which occur in it [i.e. Laylatul-Qadr] are better than the actions of one thousand months in which this night is not found’The article (ال) in the word ‘the actions’ (العمل) is for definiteness (عهدية) intending a specific action, which is mentioned in the statement of the Prophet ﷺ:‎مَنْ قَامَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِه‘Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allaah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven’ [Agreed upon]It is standing the night in prayer, reciting the Qur’aan, and supplication in it;And NOT “unrestricted actions”.What occurs [from people] in terms of preferring to increase in various righteous good deeds on Laytul-Qadr is a “mistake” in the understanding of the intent of legislation of this night. Whoever observes these last ten nights in attempts to obtain the good mentioned in it by feeding the hungry, clothing a naked person, providing treatment for a sick person, giving charity to a poor person, being dutiful to a parent, being good to the neighbor, or tying the ties of kinship, then all of these actions are NOT the intent in regards to it. Whoever remains in the masjid in these last ten nights hoping to catch Laylatul-Qadr by establishing in it the prayer and the recitation of the Qur’aan and supplication, then he is in agreement with what the legislation commanded; Not the one who left off the prayer and recitation of the Qur’aan and turns towards increasing in good deeds like charity, Ihsaan, dutifulness to parents, tying the ties of kinship. This meaning is innovated [and] not known to the Salaf (may Allah have mercy upon them)”.
🔺So strive to do your best and keep yourself busy in the worship of Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala throughout the night.
🍃As Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said: “Laylatul Qadr – in it the door is opened and the dearest are brought near and the discourse is heard and the reply is given and for those who apply themselves to endeavour; there is written within it an immense reward. Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months, so strive hard, may Allaah have mercy upon you in its pursuit. For this is the time for pursuit, and beware of negligence, for in negligence there is ruin.”(Majaalis Shahr Ramaadhaan p.255)May Allaah enable us to witness Laylatul-Qadr. May He enable us to worship Him in a manner that’s pleasing to Him, and accept from us. May He forgive us and our families and loved ones and save us all from the Fire of Hell. And Allaah knows best.

The most significant virtues of knowledge continue:
Sheikh Ibn Al Uthaymeen رحمه الله said:
6- " That the people of knowledge are the establishers of the commandments of Allaah till Judgment day, and the Hadeeth of Mu'aawi'ah رضي الله عنه indicates that, saying that 'I heard The Prophet ﷺ saying: (( Whoever Allaah wants good for, He makes him understand the Deen (religion), and I am only one who divides and Allaah is the One who (actually) gives. This Ummah (Nation) will remain upon the establishment of the commandments of Allaah and nothing will harm them from whosever opposes them till Allaah comes with his command (Judgement) ))'. -reported by Bukhaari. Indeed Imaam Ahmad said about this group of people: 'if they are not the people of Hadeeth, then I don't know who they are.' And Al qaadii I'yaad رحمه الله said: 'Imaam Ahmad meant Ahlu Sunnah and whoever thinks it's the methodology of the people of Hadeeth.' "

The Sacred Month of Muharram
Hadith: Arabic Text followed by English Translation.
Abu Bakrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
The division of time has turned to its original form which was current the day Allaah created the heavens and earth. The year consists of twelve months of which four are sacred: three consecutive months, Dhu’l-Qa’dah, Dhu’l-Hijjah and Muharram, and Rajab of Mudar which comes between Jumada and Sha’baan.

“The likeness of the one who reads Qur’aan and memorizes it is that he is with the righteous honourable scribes. The likeness of the one who reads it and tries hard to memorize it even though it is difficult for him, he will have two rewards.”

Tahiyat Al-Masjid
(“greeting the mosque”) is Sunnah according to most of the scholars; some of the scholars stated that there was consensus on this point.
Abu Qataadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “When one of you enters the mosque, let him not sit down until he has prayed two rak‘ahs.”

🌷Duaas for seeking forgiveness🌷
There are many, MANY, most beautiful Duaas from the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah about seeking forgiveness from Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala
Here are only a few.
📌FROM THE QUR’AAN:
🔺1. Duaa of Adam Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam to Allaah
“ Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.” (Surah al Aaraaf:23)
🔺2. The duaa of the righteous
"Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions (in keeping our duties to You), establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving people." (Surah Aal-Imraan:147)
🔺3. Duaa of Ibraheem Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam

“My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and him who enters my home as a believer, and all the believing men and women.” (Surah Nuh: 28)
🍃The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said:

“There is no God but You; Glory be to You, Truly I have been one of the wrongdoers” (Surah al-Anbiyah: 87)
📌FROM THE SUNNAH
🔺1. The BEST duaa for seeking forgiveness
The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam called this duaa “syedul Istighfaar” or “The Master (the best) of prayers for forgiveness”
“O Allaah! You are my Rabb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge thefavors that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to you my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon.”
He said:
“Whoever says this during the day, believing in it firmly, and dies on that day before evening comes, he will be one of the people of Paradise, and whoever says it at night, believing firmly in it, and dies before morning comes, he will be one of the people of Paradise.” (al-Bukhaari)
🔺2. The Duaa that the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam taught Aaishah radhi Allaahu anhaa

“O Allaah, indeed You are Pardoning, [Generous,] You love pardon, so pardon me.” (al-Tirmidhī)
🔺3. The Duaa the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam taught Abu Bakr radhi Allaahu anhu

🔺5. The duaa that the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said in one sitting 100 times.
“O Allaah, forgive me and accept my repentance, for You are the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful).” (Abu Dawood and others- saheeh by al-Albaani)
🔺6. The duaa that the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam used to recite in his prayer before saying the tasleem:
‎اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَ مَا أَخَّرْتُ وَ مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَ مَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَ مَا ‎أَسْرَفْتُ وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي. أَنْتَ المُقَدِّمُ وَ أَنْتَ المُؤَخِّرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَا أَنْتَ
“O Allah! Forgive me what I have done in the past, and what I will do in the future, and what I have concealed, and what I have done openly, and what I have exceeded in, and whatever You are More Knowing of than I. You are the One who Brings Forward, and You are the One who Delays, there is no (true) diety except You.” (Ahmad, Saheeh)

Allah’s name Al-Hayyee— The Shy One— is not mentioned in the Quran but occurs in a narration of the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Al-Hayyee is the one who loves and inspires modesty and shyness in His slaves and who possesses the perfect modesty, so much so that He feels shy to leave those who ask Him empty-handed and doesn’t like to expose the misdeeds of His slaves!
The Shy One, the one of perfect modesty
Hayyee comes from the root haa-yaa-yaa, which points to four main meanings. The first meaning is to live. The second main meaning is to greet, and the third is to revive, vitalize and call into being. The fourth main meaning is to be shy or ashamed.
This root appears 184 times in the Quran in 12 derived forms. Examples of these forms are yuhyee (“grants life”), hayyan (“alive”), and istihyaa’in (” shyness”).
Linguistically, haya refers to the attribute of modesty, shyness, humility, and bashfulness. Hayyee refers to the one who owns the perfect modesty and who controls the haya of creation, ashamed Himself to leave us empty-handed and so shy that He dislikes exposing the sins of His slaves.
The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Verily Allah Mighty and Majestic is Haleem (Forebearing), Hayee (Shy), Sitteer (Covering). He loves modesty and shyness and covering. Therefore when any of you bathe let him cover himself (i.e. from the sight of people). [Abu Dawud, An-Nasaa’ee, al-Baihaqi, Ahmed, graded as saheeh]
Modesty: a blessing from Allah
Haya refers to an uneasy feeling combined with embarrassment when someone is scared of being exposed for some unworthy behaviour. Islamically, haya can be of two kinds; the good haya is to be ashamed to commit a deed which Allah ‘azza wa jall forbade or discouraged and bad haya is to feel ashamed to do something that Allah ordered.
Society often portrays shyness and modesty as weakness or lack of confidence; in reality these are among the most beloved characteristics by Allah.  Having a deep sense of haya is a true blessing.
Five virtues of modesty
1. Allah ‘azza wa jall loves modesty and shyness. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Surely Allah (is One who) has haya and is the Protector. He loves haya and people who cover each others’ faults.[Al-Bukhaari].
2. Secondly, haya is the character of Islam.  The Prophet said: Every deen has an innate character. The character of Islam is modesty. [Abu Dawood]
3. Thirdly; haya brings good to everything in which it’s found. The Prophet said: Haya does not bring anything except good. [Al-Bukhaari]
4. A fourth virtue is that one’s level of haya is an indication of one’s faith, as the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Faith (emaan) consists of more than sixty branches (i.e. parts). And haya is a part of faith. [Al-Bukhaari]
5. Fifthly, haya leads to Paradise! The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Haya comes from emaan; emaan leads to Paradise. Obscenity comes from antipathy; and antipathy leads to the fire. [Al-Bukhaari]
How can you live by this name?
1. Don’t be ashamed to be modest.
The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: When lewdness is a part of anything, it becomes defective; and when haya is a part of anything it becomes beautiful. [At-Tirmidhee] Haya beautifies, realizes it’s not something to be ashamed of. Instead you should be concerned if you notice you do not have much sense of modesty and shame in your relationship with others, your way of thinking, your appearance, words, and deeds.
Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar radiyallahu ‘anhu: The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam passed by a man who was admonishing his brother regarding haya and was saying: You are very shy, and I am afraid that might harm you. On that, the Prophet said: Leave him, for haya is (a part) of faith. [Al-Bukhaari]. So haya is not just something for women, it’s an attribute men should have too and it’s crucial to start cultivating a sense of haya in children!
2. Strive for haya with Allah.
The greatest modesty you must have is with Allah ‘azza wa jall, which means you are shy and ashamed to do anything He dislikes and when you do so, you rush to repent. It is He who showers His blessings upon us, but we often use these very blessings to sin, even though modesty is the thing we need most! Know that Allah is Al-Hayy (the Ever-Living) and that every thought and act is witnessed by Him. Let this motivate you to increase in haya! Allah says: Whatever you (O Muhammad) may be doing, and whatever portion you may be reciting from the Quran– and whatever deed you (mankind) may be doing (good or evil), We are Witness thereof, when you are doing it . . . [Quran, 10:61]
3. Don’t be embarrassed to tell the truth.
Sometimes people are embarrassed to stand up for the truth and to forbid an evil or encourage good. You find people shy to defend Islamic concepts, like the hijaab, or even embarrassed to pray in their workplace! Haya means you feel most shyness for Allah ‘azza wa jall and never let shyness of people stand in the way of the orders of Al-Hayyee. Allah is the Shy one but not when it comes to setting forth parables of the truth: Verily, Allah is not ashamed to set forth a parable even of a mosquito or so much more when it is bigger (or less when it is smaller) than it . . . [Quran, 2:26] And: … Indeed, that [behavior] was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of [dismissing] you. But Allah is not shy of the truth… [Quran, 33:53]
4. Ask Al-Hayyee.
The Messenger of Allah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam said: Indeed your Lord – tabaaraka wa ta’ala – is The Shy One, The Generous, Allah is Shy from His slave if the slave raises his hands towards Him, that He would return them without anything. [Abu Dawood, At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Maajah – authenticated by al-Albaani] Be amazed and inspired by this beautiful shyness and ask Him for your every need and turn to Him in good and bad times!
5. Revive the concept of gheerah.
We live in times in which many men and women lost their sense of shame and modesty, are obsessed with appearances and attracting attention from non-mahrams and marriage is often seen as old-fashioned. Gheerah is an Islamic concept which means protectiveness or (a good type of) jealousy. The Prophet sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam had the most gheerah for his wives and all of the companions were known for their gheerah. The sahaabah were impressed by the strong gheerah of Sa’d ibn ‘Ubaadah radiyallahu ‘anhu, and the Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa salalm said: Are you amazed by the gheerah of Sa’d? I have more gheerah than him, and Allah has more gheerah than me. [al-Bukhaari, Muslim] Also: There are three at whom Allaah will not look at (with Mercy) on the day of Resurrection: the one who disobeys his parents, the woman who imitates men, and the duyooth (a man who has no protective jealousy towards his womenfolk). [Saheeh Al-Jaami’ As-Sagheer] Strive to revive your sense of gheerah and remember that honourable gheerah never leads to inappropriate actions according to Islam!
6.Take concealing your ‘awrah seriously.
Study trustworthy Islamic texts to see what is considered ‘awrah (parts of the body which cannot be seen by non-mahrams) of both men and women, so you can conceal them. Allah says: Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty . . . [Quran, 30-31]
O Allah, Al-Hayyee, we know that You are the One who is shy and who possesses perfect modesty. Adorn us with a strong sense of haya and guide us in being modest towards the creation and in our relationship with You. Aid us to never being embarrassed in standing up for Your Deen and make our sense of shame a way to enter Your Paradise, ameen!

Is it haram to pray for near death. I honestly don’t want to live and I can’t help but think that I want God to put an end to my life earlier.
“Everything has an appointed time and a limit with Allah, and if someone prays to die before the appointed time, that is indicative of some shortcoming in his belief in the divine will and decree, and in his understanding thereof.
Such a supplication is contrary to the teaching of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), because he forbade the Muslim to pray for his own death in many hadiths, and the scholars are unanimously agreed that all of these reports are sound.
Even though the scholars have discussed many situations in which people might wish for death, but each situation has its own ruling and in most cases people wish for death when it is not allowed. We will quote here some of the words of the scholars concerning the issue of wishing for death in various situations.
Al-Haafiz Ibn Rajab (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Imam Ahmad narrated from Jaabir that the Prophet (‎ﷺ ) said: “Do not wish for death, for the horror that the dying person experiences at the moment of death is too difficult to bear. Living a long life and being guided by Allah to turn to Him and repent is a sign of being blessed.” Musnad Ahmad (426/22); classed as hasan by the commentators in the Mu’sasat ar-Risaalah edition.
Wishing for death may take place for several reasons: Wishing for death because of some worldly calamity that has befallen one.
It is forbidden at that time to wish for death. In as-Saheehayn, it is narrated that Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (‎ﷺ ) said: “No one of you should wish for death because of some harm that has befallen him. If he must wish for it, then let him say: ‘O Allah, keep me alive so long as living is good for me, and cause me to die when death is good for me.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (6351) and Muslim (2680).”

A person may know this for himself; he may have the problem of committing a sin that he commits regularly even though he believes that it is haraam and hopes to rid himself of it.
But what is feared for the one who persists in sin without repenting is that it may lead him to a bad end, Allāh forbid, or he may begin to love the sin in which he persists, so that leads him to no longer feel in his heart what he is obliged to believe, which is that it is haraam. So he begins to regard the sin as permissible because he is used to it and loves it.
Hence one of the salaf said: Sin is the harbinger of kufr and there is the fear for the one who persists in sin that if he takes the matter lightly and does it as he does permissible things, without hating it or fearing the consequences, his faith will be rendered invalid.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man only commits haraam actions because of the weakness of his faith and love; if he does makrooh actions it is because he does not have enough hatred towards it, or because of the strength of the love for it that overwhelmed his heart. No person does any haraam action, such as immoral conduct both obvious and hidden, or sin and transgression, or associates things with Allah for which He has sent down no authority, or speaks about Allah without knowledge, except because of weakness of faith, because of lack of knowledge and belief, or because of the weakness of love and hate. But if his faith is basically sound, which means that he believes in all that Allah sent, then when the believer does these actions, he feels hatred and resentment towards them, and if he does them then it is because his whims and desires overwhelmed him, so when doing them he inevitably hates them and fears Allāh's punishment for them, and he has the hope that he will rid himself of the consequences, either by repenting or by doing good deeds or by being forgiven, and so on. But if he does not hate them and does not fear Allāh with regard to them and does not hope for His mercy, then this is not a believer under any circumstances; rather he is a kaafir or a hypocrite. [Qaa‘idah fi’l-Mahabbah, p. 104]
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (blessings and peace of Allāh be upon him) say:
“All of my ummah will be fine except those who commit sin openly, and it is part of committing sin openly for a man to do something at night, then in the morning when his Lord has concealed him he says: O So and so, I did such and such last night, when his Lord had concealed him all night, but in the morning he discloses that which Allāh had concealed for him.”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5721) and Muslim (2990).
To sum up: persisting in sin is a major sin, but it does not constitute kufr unless it is accompanied by regarding the action as permissible. Persisting in it does not necessarily indicate that the person regards it as permissible, but it may lead to that.
May Allāh forgive you and have mercy upon you.
Do you think I'm not miserable enough. Why do you have to add onto my pain thinking you're saving me when you're just rubbing salt in my wounds

Dear brothers and sisters in islam.
Celebrating Mother’s Day is an innovated matter which the Prophet (ﷺ) and his companions did not do. It is also an imitation of the kuffaar from whom we have been commanded to differ.
Hence it is not permissible to celebrate it or to obey one's mother in that, because the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"There is no obedience if it involves sin; obedience is only in that which is right and proper"
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 7257; Muslim, 1840).
Also this celebration is a newly invented innovation. the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“The worst of matters are those which are newly-invented, and every innovation is a going-astray.”
(Narrated by Muslim, 867; al-Nasaa’i, 1578.)
Al-Nasaa’i’s report adds the words: “And every going astray will be in the Fire.”
And besides the Mother is entitled to respect and honor in her life, as well as the upholding of kinship links, so what is the point of designating a specific day to honor her? ✨
There’s no MOTHER’S DAY in Islam, because in Islam everyday is a Mother’s Day.
