Not Letting DamiJon Lose!
I'm not letting the DamiJon Nation lose without a fight, so here is my promo. Why vote DamiJon?
Childhood
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two practically grew up together as the Super Sons. They are each other's closest companions. Jon was the only person that stuck by Damian when no one else did. Even when Damian was about to kill KG Beast, Jon never turned against him. He was the only person that truly reached out to him just to make sure Damian was okay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this incident, Jon left the Legion of Super Heroes, hinting at the possibility that he sacrificed his membership for his friend. It could be for other reasons, but considering Saturn Girl kicked Damian out upon his arrival, I'd like to believe the Legion wasn't too fond of him.
Tumblr media
2. "I know the sound of your heartbeat"
Tumblr media
Even in the very comic where Jon Kent starts dating Jay, it's clear which boy he's much closer with. How can you not see sparks? These two were clearly made for each other both heart and soul!
Tumblr media
3. Babysitting Lizzie
Tumblr media
These two practically co-parent Lizzie Prince, the daughter of Wonder Woman in Tom King's run, from when she's five until she became the next Wonder Woman. They are still just as close and never change by the time Damian becomes Batman.
Tumblr media
4. Even in Other Worlds
Tumblr media
When Jon visits the Injustice Earth, he never gives up on Damian. No matter how evil Damian may become, Jon will always see the good in him. There is such a deep understanding these two have for each other.
5. The Promise
Tumblr media
The one promise they made was to always protect each other. Damian was so genuine in that promise that he took off his mask. He hardly ever does this, even when making promises. It's clear Damian cares so much for Jon that he will abandon the Teen Titans to protect him.
Tumblr media
Even going back to "I know the sound of your heartbeat," Jon said this when Damian was off the grid. This means Jon was the only nonparticipant of the Lazarus Tournament who knew where Damian was when he was off the grid. He's also the only person Damian has ever visited while off-grid, being that is when the Super Sons Special takes place.
6. This right here.
Tumblr media
Also...
Tumblr media
And...
Tumblr media
So, let's get some votes for DamiJon. Co'mon, don't let DickBru catch up! Let's so our love! Vote here for DamiJon!

Note
I haven't read any comics w Jay in them, but all I hear about it is that they're a bland nothing character made only so they can advertise Jon as queer. But since YOURE a fan of JayJon and one of the realest people on this site, i dont think that's v accurate (the bland part, at the very least) and I'm curious about what they're like :3 (also the panel they chose for the poll is not flattering at all T.T why does Jon look like that)
Awww thank you! I can't promise they're everyone's taste, and I understand people's hesitation due to the double whammy of Tom Taylor and Jon Kent, and initially when Jay was introduced I didn't have any interest in them at all. What got me intrigued was the ongoing Secret Six run, which is a book absolutely chock full of messy gay drama. And that got me to go back and deep dive into Jayjon.
The basic summary that I can give as propaganda is that Jay is a seventeen year old anarchist who successfully convinced Jon Kent to go along with his plan to overthrow a dictatorship. He's much more active a partner than a generic love interest, and in a lot of ways he's helping Jon define who he is outside of "Superman's son." Despite being created by Tom Taylor, the more comics Jay appears in the more it becomes clear that he's not a two dimensional sweet supportive love interest. That boy is a Hater. It's literally one of my favourite things about him.
(And also I think people saw Tom Taylor's name, Jon Kent as the protagonist, and Jay's pink hair and made a whole bunch of assumptions about him and Jayjon that lumped them in with Tim Drake and Bernard under the "DC doesn't care they're just throwing these heroes with random boring gay love interests" take. Which I disagree with especially when it comes to Jay tbh.)
But to understand my own personal love for jayjon, as someone who doesn't really care about male characters in general, you gotta understand the third part of this messy triangle: Nia Nal aka Dreamer. Spoilers for everything involving the three of them below.
Her backstory is written in Bad Dream: A Dreamer's Story but basically Nia is a half alien trans girl who grew up in a hidden alien sanctuary in America, until her powers manifested and she left and after some drama and tragedy, she became a hero. She shows up in Jon's Superman run to help Jon and Jay out because of future visions she had in her dreams. Why? Well now we get deep into Jay.
Jay Nakamura is a refugee from Gamorra, an Asian Island nation located in the Pacific. His mother used to be president of Gamorra, but when her successor was elected he turned the island into a dictatorship and began experimenting to create metahumans. Jay was tortured and experimented on, gaining the power to turn intangible. He fled and made his way to America, where he began running an underground news site attempting to expose the news mainstream media ignores, such as the Gamorran refugees. Jon during this run is struggling with the weight of being Superman and what kind of hero he wants to be, and decides to help Jay and the Gamorrans. They fall in love, kiss, and end up saving Gamorra with Nia's help. It's very Tom Taylor as in the ideas are interesting but he's limited to everyone getting an uncomplicated happy ending. Luckily, the characters aren't limited to his run. So instead of being a simple happy ending, things get a lot more complicated.
Then comes the one two whammy of Suicide Squad Dream Team and Absolute Power, which is a terrible comic for Amanda Waller but a great comic for Jon, Jay and Nia. Really enjoyable if you pretend Waller is possessed by an evil magic force the entire time. In Suicide Squad, Waller assembles a team in order to infiltrate Gamorra and take control. She blackmails Nia into being a part of the team first by threatening to expose her hometown of aliens to all of America, and later on by holding the life of her family hostage so that she does Waller's bidding. This leads to Nia using her powers to get the Suicide Squad into Gamorra, where they then assassinate the president.
... Aka Jay's mom.
Nia does end up flipping sides and helping Jon in Absolute Power after he's possessed by Braniac, but despite that Jay still despises her, and understandably so! Jon is caught in the middle between this girl he likes who he knows is a good person, and the boyfriend he loves who understandably hates her. And on top of that his fear of his powers being used to harm others came true and he is NOT coping well after his first time being possessed. And also Nia seems to be crushing on him.
So we come to Secret Six, which three issues in is just gay drama from top to bottom. You've got Deadshot and Catman for old man yaoi, Jon Jay and Nia all forced to work together and full of messy emotions, and Black Alice who was also part of the team who killed Jay's mom but is far less openly remorseful compared to Nia.
And thanks to all that, I've grown very fond of Jon/Jay/Nia. Trans girl who's OK with killing certain assholes vs Anarchist gay guy from a discriminated minority vs Jon Kent liberal flirting with leftism while also dealing with superpowered trauma. It's a powder keg and an entertaining one!
Tumblr media
Bonus reading list by bobbinalong on twitter. And bonus extra fun panels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^^ Guy who is definitely doing OK and his boyfriend who definitely does not feel personally responsible for calming him down
They're very gen z and the Tom Taylor does shine through at first but I still enjoyed them a lot. Secret Six is one of the current ongoings I'm loving and need more of. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but definitely mine!

Revati Men Feature Focus: High Cheekbones with a Dainty Sharp Jaw
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jon-Erik Hexum and David Gandy both Revati moon
Ever wondered how Revati men looked? Well then here you go, a post about them.
The first common feature if their genetic background allows it is their possession of icy blue eyes. These men could stop tracks with their eyes. And these men are good with words and seductive, they can give a sexual vibe, it especially comes from the mouth. It’s how they speak and communicate. Mercury rules over communication and speech. Since we talking about speech the next feature will have something to do with their lips, it’s their long thin lips. These men can also have small, pouty lips but among the Revati men long, elongated lips was most common.
Tumblr media
The next and most important feature to spot a Revati man is their high cheekbones and dainty, sharp jaw. As you can see shown by the men in the picture. Even if they have some facial fullness this feature will still be highlighted, shown by the man with the red arrow. As for their eyes, their eyes tend to be medium-large. Their eyes can be hooded which reduces the size but if it’s not hooded then they’ll have gorgeous big Revati eyes.
Men in the Photo:Daniel Craig(Moon), Tom Hiddleston(Moon*), Ross Lynch(Moon), Rudy Pankows(Moon), Jeremy Meeks(Moon), Mark NCT(Moon), Vishal Aditya Singh(Moon)
ERROR: I changed my mind about Tom Hiddleston, he is more Ashwini I feel. He looks more Ashwini too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Revati men with a bit facial fullness. You can see their Revati feature. Men Shown: Dr Tyler Bigenho(Sun), BTS V(Moon), Mingyuu SEVENTEEN(Sun)
Tumblr media
Alain Delon, Revati Moon
The difference between Revati and Ashwini men is that Revati is less intimidating and more approachable in looks than Ashwini. If you asked me what Revati men reminds me of, i would say cherubs. These men are awfully shy yet playful(flirtatious) and very childlike. These men are angelic in their physiognomy and i forgot to mention these men can have big foreheads and big noses.
EDIT: These men tend to have a naturally nurturing nature and they often times are surrounded by females, it can be that they grew up with sisters. Woman easily cater to these men as woman tend to really appreciate Revati’s energy. Revati is like the calf who sucks the milk of the nourishing cow. Ardra and Revati both have a cooling energy woman appreciate.

it's pretty well understood that jon was Ridiculously and Obviously dismissive of "arachnophobia"/the carlos vittery statement because he's afraid of spiders (it was meant to be So obvious that other characters picked up on it in universe, after all)
but something that I think is even More interesting is that it's not Just about the spiders/about the web.
because carlos vittery wasn't afraid of the Idea of spiders, they went to great pains to tell us that. he wasn't afraid of Looking at them, or the way they moved, he wasn't even afraid of being bitten.
what he was afraid of Was Knowing That They Were There. what haunted carlos vittery was the Knowledge that something scary was out there, and the Knowledge that it was looking at him, too.
and I think that, more than anything, hit too close to home for jon. who went to great pains to pretend he didn't believe in the supernatural, because he Knew that it was there, Knew that it was watching him, and wanted so desperately to pretend that he didn't.
[Carlos Vittery] "It’s not the sight of a spider that gets me, not the legs or the eyes or even the webs they leave behind with only the drained corpse of their insect victims still inside. It’s the presence of a spider. The knowledge of it being somewhere near." (...) "My normal course of action is to immediately flee the room and leave Major Tom inside to deal with it, returning after a few hours. (...) I believe Major Tom definitely ate the majority of them, and those spiders that had simply fled back into the shadows, well, I can trick myself into believing they also suffered such a fate. It may be that my grey feline companion never actually ate any of them, but he was a fine enough placebo that such a thought didn’t concern me as much as it might." [Unquote]
[Jonathan Sims] "Because I’m scared, Martin!. Because when I record these statements it feels… it feels like I’m being watched. I… I lose myself a bit. And then when I come back, it’s like… like if I admit there may be any truth to it, whatever’s watching will… know somehow. The scepticism, feigning ignorance. It just felt safer." [Unquote]
as long as jon can just Pretend the statements don't bother him then that fear doesn't matter, because he isn't special and his fear isn't rational. carlos vittery wasn't special either, his feelings weren't rational, but he Knew that what was haunting him was watching him. he Knew that the malice he felt from it was real.
so it Must be a coincidence. jon Has to believe that it's all coincidence.
"Can you be haunted by the ghost of a spider that destroyed your childhood?"
certainly not jonathan sims, detached academic who takes his job very seriously and isn't afraid when he reads into a tape recorder.

Anniversary Tournament
Last year for Doctor Who's anniversary I ran a tournament between Doctor Who stories, and I wanted to so something different again this year. A tournament between real people important to the history of Doctor Who, actors, writers, producers, directors, composers, production designers. Technically it'll be a tournament for the most infuential person to Doctor Who and its development over the years, but really I want it to be a celebration of all of these people, and not just the winner.
To that end, the nomination form, you can also submit nominations normally, ie sending me an ask or replying to this post, however I won't be accepting propaganda through those methods.

Behind the Scenes of The Star Beast - Part 13
Excerpt from Emily Cook's interview with Miriam Margolyes for Doctor Who Magazine #596:
I’m very fond of the Doctor Whos that I know,’ says Miriam. “I worked with Patrick Troughton on radio. Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, too. Most of my Doctor Whos were friends from radio. Tom Baker’s got that amazing voice. I love him. I think he’s very special. I like his sense of humour. He’s so funny and witty. Tom is also outspoken, in a lovely way. “I met Peter Davison at a convention. I do conventions for Harry Potter and sometimes they’re joined up with Doctor Who.” DWM points out that Miriam can now do both. “I’m very pleased about that. A lot of the conventions are full of old stars. I probably know Colin Baker least of all, but I have met him at conventions. “Then I got to know Sylvester McCoy who was Doctor Who Number 7. I love Sylvester. He’s a darling. Sylvester and I worked together many times, and latterly in The Real Marigold Hotel [2016]. We have a very firm friendship, and he was the person who started me doing Cameos.” Cameo is a video-sharing site that allows celebrities to send personalised video messages to fans. “Sylvester introduced me to it. I saw him doing one and I said, ‘What are you doing?’ And he said, ‘I’m doing this Cameo thing, you should do it, you get paid for it.’ I said, ‘Can you put me on to it then?’ And he said, ‘Yes.’ So he sent me the website and I signed up for it. For the first year, he got five per cent commission from mine, because that’s how they encourage people: recommendations. And now I’m one of Cameo’s top people.” Has Miriam recommended it to anyone? “I think I asked Pat Hodge if she would do it. Imagine asking Judy Dench if she would…” Miriam continues running through her associations with the Doctors. “I worked with Christopher Eccleston in a television play. He’s wonderful. They’re always such good actors, these Doctors! David Tennant, I’d never worked with but I’ve always admired him. Peter Capaldi, I know because I did a film with him in Romania about Modigliani, the painter. I think he’s wonderful. And he’s Scottish, like David, and Sylvester. I have a special affection for the Scottish Doctors. My father was a Scottish doctor, you see.”
Additional parts of this set are in the #whoBtsBeast tag, including another portion of the interview with Miriam in [ Part 9 ] . The full episode list is [ here ]

Head cannons cod quick edition (Soap lives)
Simon developed PTSD over it and now he’s prone to freak outs. If Soap doesn’t adhd hot mic on comms during ops.
Soap got really buff at one point and Simon couldn’t stop staring to save his life.
Price went dark after killing Shepherd it was only by divine intervention of Laswell that he showed back up at TF141’s base
No one in TF 141 understands proper meal construction. They’re so used to eating whatever is available. Laswell once caught Soap eating a salad bowl full of breakfast sausage and calling it dinner.
Soap can sleep anywhere and everywhere at the drop of a hat. And Laswell is about to scream if she trips over him one more time.
Simon listens to Jon Bellion and One Republic.. only Soap knows this. But he’s also indoctrinated Soap on classic rock and heavy metal. Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Poison etc.
Price religiously watched Friends and while he understood the problematic mess that it is. He’ll hear absolutely no slander about Joey or Phoebe. And every now and again he chuckles to himself when he gets to yell PIVOT.
Simon can sing and every now and again Gaz and Soap will sit and listen to him belt out Tom’s Diner or Roxanne by AnnenMayKantereit.
Soap knows all the words to Bust a move and it’s one of his favorite party tricks after a few margaritas.
Price listens to romance and dark romance any chance he gets on audible/scribd.
Soap and Gaz wipe the floor with everyone in just about every video game they play.

I’m sure all the Anti DamiJon’s over at Twitter are crying over every DamiJon getting excited over this. They did over Jon’s gay comment to Damian.
Guys rofl we understand they’re not canon and it’s just a joke, but are you going to pretend Tom King didn’t insert that in there on purpose? It’s called fan service. Tom King is serving the DamiJon’s and I’m enjoying every bit of it.
Also, these two are way passed adult age at this point, so none of ya’ll can use the “meh age gap” excuse in this run. They’re legal. They can vote. They can drink. They can marry. They can fuck. Keep that fan service coming, Tom King. You’re killing it!

Okay controversial opinion 2 Electric Boogaloo.
Jon’s paranoia in season 2 was mostly justified.
Tumblr media
First let me say, stalking is bad, don’t stalk your coworkers. (Especially when you are bad at it like Jon is.)
However…Everyone in the archives is so fucking suspicious like honestly.
First we have Martin ‘I lied on my resume.’ Blackwood, who is a lying liar who lies, I mean he’s lying because capitalism so good motive still lies. Not to mention leaving an incriminating letter in his trash like Jon isn’t going through that like an overgrown raccoon. (With matching eye bags.)
(But like Jon did you make the slightest effort find any information or does all your investigating consist of following your coworkers and the just staring like they’ll just airdrop the info to you. No wonder you’re the Eye’s specialist little boy.)
Timothy ‘I left a successful career to work at a disgraced Paranormal institute’ Stoker. Which when we know the reason makes sense but without that fact it’s weird. Not to mention he clearly hates his job season 2 but doesn’t quit, which again we know why but…
(Also Jon in all your stalking how did you not find out about his dead brother and finally make some connections on your red string cork board which we know you have. I can not state enough how bad Jon is at stalking.)
Finally we have Sasha who is great and normal and nothing is wrong with Sasha…In all seriousness though Sasha is the probably the least suspicious prior to being Not-Themed. Although she did think she would get Gertrude’s job so maybe motive but again the not them makes the whole thing complicated.
(NotSasha is fucking funny okay, yes she has a boyfriend named Tom who looks like a stock photo and hangs out at wax museums, nothing weird okay.)
Special mention to Elias ‘What I had motive, opportunity and found the blood, but it couldn’t be me.’ Bouchard. Honestly I’m calling Web or Eye shenanigans here for why Jon doesn’t immediately break into his house or something.
(Jon, Elias found the blood, he was alone at the time, like what part of this doesn’t immediately make you go huh…?)
In conclusion, stalking is bad, but yeah I get it. If my brain was marinating in Stranger and Web soup while the Eye was throwing up flashing warning signs. Oh and also the Spirals there for extra spiciness to run its ridiculous fingers through the soup a bit I’d be a feral raccoon too. Though I think my red string board would be better.
Also Jon is bad at stalking, like just the worse. He only gets information by having spooky powers otherwise he is not good at this eyes specialist little boy indeed.

Okay huge huge unpopular opinion incoming…but I don’t care that much for Richie. I really could care less about him now and this is due to how the fandom has treated him/perceived him. He’s canonically an asshole (and probably sexist) and yet he’s been mischaracterized as the stereotypical “stuttering fragile soft uwu boy” you see in EVERY fandom and THANKS I hate it! Doesn’t help that most of the people who hc him as gay also push that “uwu soft gay boy” stereotype onto him as well and it sucks. Just because he’s sympathetic doesn’t mean you need to make Richie into something he’s not cause a lot of people have.
And I’ll be honest and say that my gripe with Richie also has to due with the favoritism/misogyny within the fandom. I get so salty that he’s so incredibly popular and praised for being complex because of ONE moment during a song, meanwhile characters like Grace and Ruth are 10x more layered and interesting than him, yet people would rather overly dissect Richie because of one scene rather than look at the FULL length musical number Ruth gets about her character, (which people refuse to talk about since no one likes her song) or talk about Grace and the million of things you can dissect her character on. But Grace, Ruth, and even Steph will take the backseat cause Richie is more popular and I hate that.
And while we’re here…this is exactly how I feel about Paul Mathews too. Like…omg I could give less of a fuck about him I’m so SORRY lmao. Yeah he’s really funny and enjoyable to watch but that’s it for me. Paul being popular makes more sense since he’s a main character so I don’t have issue with that, but again, it does make me salty seeing how popular he is when Emma and Charlotte are right there bro (or hell, literally ANY other hatchetfield character like Tom or Becky or something, cause the majority of them are more layered than Paul is) and yet people put Paul up on a pedestal and mischaracterize him too (the fact that some people clutched their pearls when Jon said he was an asshole is proof enough of that). Like the whole point of Paul’s character was that he’s just some average normal asshole guy with no motivations or plans for the future until he meets Emma (who mind you is more interesting than him like she’s got a whole backstory, internal struggles, family issues ect) but then people took the info we had on Paul and turned him into a soft stuttering uwu boy as well, which also sucks.
So yeah sorry I was in a real ranty mood today lol but these are just my personal gripes and opinions. Please keep in mind, NO hate to the people who love Paul and Richie, as well as the people hc Richie as gay cause I’m cool with that. I’m also not denying the depth bc Paul and Richie DO have depth, I get it….this is more a callout post about the people who mischaracterize both of them as well as the fans who have internalized misogyny AND the favoritism/picking and choosing of obsessing over characters that aren’t that important or layered compared to the ones who are. And I don’t have an issue with people favoring the smaller characters as well because people are allowed to have fun! I just kinda hate that Paul, Richie, (even Gary Goldstein) are so popular meanwhile there are characters with bigger roles who deserve that same attention and recognition but don’t get any, it’s just frustrating.

The discourse about Zendaya and her acting ability drives me crazy because people put these insane standards on her that they don't apply to anyone else.
The fact of the matter is, people don't like that a WOC has reached white woman levels of popularity. There's a ceiling they believe she is allowed to reach, and now that she's surpassed that, they act like she has to justify her popularity.
But they never hold whitw actors and men to that standard. The most popular actors in Hollywood have never been the "technical best" actors.
Tom Cruise doesn't have much range, Jennifer anniston has played the same character for almost 20 years, Keanu reeves sucks when he plays outside of type, Ryan Reynolds plays the same character every time, Henry Cavill is very limited in his range (and his looks make up for a lot). Zendaya is a much better/well rounded actress than say Chris Pratt, yet there wasn't this level of backlash when he was cast as Hollywood's leading man in everything for YEARS.
If you bring this up, they'll talk about things like "charisma" "leading man quality" which are completely subjective concepts that mask their personal biases. I find Zendaya alot more charismatic than Ryan Reynolds, but 90% of white men would disagree because they connect with him more. Neither are wrong, but why do their preferences hold more weight, then?
Like, yes, she is not an Oscar-level actress (yet), but neither are MOST popular actors. But to them, unless we can justify that she's this flawless technical actor, that means she's terrible. Her two Emmy's hold no weight, and "no one takes award bodies seriously" unless we're talking about Timmy, then he "deserves the recognition" 🤔
Most Disney actors aren't great (the way Disney trains them to act is pretty bad), and I would argue Zendaya is one of the best to come out of that machine (a better actress than Miley and Selena, no hate to either of them).
Lemme tell you the real reason they claim she's a bad actress: MJ & Chani.
Both characters were extremely popular within nerd spaces (note: white/male). In both cases, the writer (Jon Watts & Denis) completely re-wrote the characters from how they were in the source material and type-cast Zendaya to play a more assertive version of both characters. Zendaya played both characters PERFECTLY as they were written (I do have some criticisms of her accent as Chani, though tbf). And from the fanboys perspective, she played a butchered version of the og characters that they're comparing her to (also, she's not white. There is a certain level of "wokeness" "Dei" bs that they're also resentful about).
Yes, Zendaya played a terrible Mary Jane Watson, but she played a PERFECT Michelle Jones Watson (watch freaks & geeks + the breakfast club and you'll realize how good her performance is when you see who the character was inspired by). That's what she was hired to do (and it's especially heartbreaking when you realize that she never auditioned to play MJ in the first place. John Watts and Amy Pascal essentially conspired to get her in that role to bank on her popularity at the time, since Tom was a relative unknown). Yet she still gets so much hate for her portrayal of that MJ.
I know we always use Euphoria, but literally watch her crying and confessing in her love to Peter at the end of NWH, and tell me she doesn't "know how to show emotion". Compare that to Chris Pratt confronting his father at the end of Guardians two, and you'll see when an actor doesn't know how to convey emotion.
Hollywood has always had a popular "it girl" that they put in everything (Gwynth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Renee Zelweger, Julia roberts), most of these women weren't giving oscar level performances and were still leading multiple projects a year. In every listed project (except Euphoria) Zendaya will be playing a supporting role (I doubt she will be in spider-man for more than 6 minutes), I beg some of y'all to examine... why does HER perceived popularity truly upset you so much? what has she done, that warrants so much anger at seeing her face? Who is it that you think she's "deserves" these opportunities that she's worked for (the usual entitlement from white women to any successful black woman).
Also, final point. Why do people act like acting is a static ability? Even if you don't love her performances, actors CAN get better (that's usually how it works). In fact, I would argue, going from Shake it up to challengers, Z's acting has objectively improved in each new role she has taken. Remember how Matthew Mcconaughey was considered a terrible actor for most of the 90s/2000s, then gave an Oscar level performance in DBC, followed by true detective and now is one of the most respected dramatic actors in the industry? Remember how Jim Carrey was considered a clown actor, until he blew people away in Eternal Sunshine?
Actors CAN improve. I genuinely want that particular faction of Z haters to examine why they're so dedicated to the idea of killing her career at the height of its momentum?
Agreed, I think you hit the nail on the head.

(SPOILERS if you haven't seen the show yet):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lois Lane has a cut out clip of Vicki Vale. Vicki Vale is a journalist in Gotham City. Her first appearance was in Batman #49 (1948) as seen in the panel here (W: Bill Finger, A: Lew Sayre and Bob Kane, I: Charles Paris, L: Ira Schnapp).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like Jimmy is a fan of Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. Good video game taste.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jimmy mentions a psychic starfish and the one starfish in the DC universe who is psychic is Starro the Conqueror, who's first appearance is in Brave and the Bold 28 (1960) (the cover art here is done by Mike Sekowsky, Murphy Anderson, and Ira Schnapp) and has the power to mind control people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lois, after barging into Perry White's office about a story, mentions Mt. Simonson. This is a neat name drop to Superman: The Man of Steel writer Louise Simonson, one of the nicest comic book writers you'll ever meet. She helped co-create John Henry Irons a.k.a Steel with artist of the Superman: The Man of Steel comic, Jon Bogdanove (really hope we get to see Irons in this show too).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jon Bogdanove also gets a name drop here as does...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dan Jurgen, comic book writer and artist on the Superman comic in the 90s (also one of my favorite Superman artists).
Now who are these kids that call themselves the Newskid Legion? Well, they are a VERY deep DC cut and reference to the Newsboy Legion back in the 1940s. The group was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, LEGENDARY comic book creators.
Tumblr media
The page here is from Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe #16 (1986) with the art by Jack Kirby and Karl Kesel. Most of the Newskid Legion is named after the Newsboy Legion members
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gabby and Big Words here share names with their Newsboy Legion counterparts as does Flip Johnson...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
who shares names with Walter "Flip" Johnson here on the cover of Superman's Pal Jimmy Olson #137 (1971) which was done by Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, and Gaspar Saladino.
Tumblr media
Patty, the cartoonist of the Newskid Legion homages this panel from Adventures of Superman #500 (1993) (W: Karl Kesel, P: Tom Grummet, I: Doug Hazelwood, C: Glenn Whitmore, L: Albert DeGuzman), the first appearance of Superboy, Conner Kent/ Kon-El.
Tumblr media
But who is the one below that drawing? We'll his name is in Big Word's word puzzle, in the show. It's Jim Harper, the Guardian.
Tumblr media
Jim Harper becomes the Newsboy Legion's legal guardian despite their causing trouble for him. The page here is from Star Spangled Comics #7, the Newsboy Legion and the Guardian's first appearance, by Joe Simon, Jack Kirby, and Whitney Ellsworth. You might've seen the Guardian on the recent Young Justice cartoon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Lois, Clark, and Jimmy go investigate about the smuggled robots in Metropolis, Jimmy makes a reference to super intelligent gorillas in France. This is a subtle hint at Monsieur Mallah, the Doom Patrol villain who will be in the show along with his partner, the Brain. Both made their first appearance in Doom Patrol #86 (1964) .
Tumblr media
The cover art here is done by Arnold Drake, Bob Brown, and Ira Schnapp.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later in the episode we see Clark receive his powers and he is surrounded with electricity, giving off Superman Blue vibes when in the comics, Superman gained electricity powers and became Electric Blue Superman who's first appearance was in Superman #123 (1997) (cover art by Dan Jurgens, Joe Rubenstein, Patrick Martin, and Todd Klein.

hi so uh what is your favorite robert sean leonard role
Tumblr media Tumblr media
omg i’ve been trying to prepare myself for this day… but i’m still going to ramble for sure! thank you for this ask!!!
i love so many of his roles for different reasons, so i’ll try to rank them, then elaborate on why they are where they are…
1. neil (dead poet’s society): like many of us, this is how i was introduced to RSL. his performance as neil was so moving to me — even at 14. i related to this character in many ways (and still do) and truly felt seen for the first time in my life. i was (and woud continue to) live my life trying to please my father and had deep fear of his judgement and rejection. his joy and his pain as neil is palpable every single time, even if it’s been 10+ years of numerous rewatches. this is one of his most well-known roles for that reason… but that’s not why it’s my #1. neil is just so special to me, i cannot even begin to describe the feelings i have towards him. but, i can tell you it’s enough that i plan to get an outline tattoo of neil as puck this summer!
2. wilson (house, md): ok another kin character of mine!! but that’s not (the only reason) why. wilson as a character is really like the only RSL role we see fleshed out for YEARS! not a film, not one episode or at max one season, but 8 YEARS!!! the opportunity to have so much of wilson when we have very little of RSL long-term is so special. wilson is also so dynamic both internally and in his relationship with house. we see the good parts of wilson — his humor, his dedication, his love. but we see the low moments, too — his infidelity, his depression/grief, his pain. wilson is a wonderfully rounded out character and makes every episode that much better!
3. luke forte (the gilded age): as julian schlossberg said during his interview, rev. luke forte is truly just bobby. everything genuine and warm and loving about RSL is tied up in luke. it was “one of the easiest things [he’s] ever done” because of that. everything i adore about him shows up in this role, so i’ll be a luke lover forever and ever!!! plus — he plays opposite his irl lifelong friend, which makes it even sweeter.
4. alfred (safe passage): underrated af!!! i really enjoy the family dysfunction in this film in general — from a psych perspective ofc. alfred, being the oldest, takes on a parental role and always has to have it together. but there is so much passion and rage and feeling brewing underneath (which we get to see)! i just love seeing RSL embody this dynamic role. plus, his milf of a girlfriend is a psychologist so… self insert.
5. barry (boys next door): bobby just blows this role out of the water. i did a bit more of an in-depth blurb about barry before, but in summary — the depiction of debilitating ptsd was very accurate to my personal and clinical experience. can’t speak much to it accurately depicting schizophrenia, but the dynamics between barry and the boys, jack, and his father are all so incredibly moving. plus love the long hair!!!!
need a separate ranking just for his roles where he’s a jerk, have to go:
1. claudio (much ado about nothing): he’s just so pretty and princely. plus, shakespeare?! cmon!!!
2. tom (last days of disco): 1998 RSL? …seductive dancing? duhhh!!! (i still cannot believe I mentioned this character in my note to him… what is wrong with me?!)
3. jon (tape): bossy, smug, lowkey sexual tension with both of the other characters?! count me in.
