In a Violent Nature (2024): this was really neat. standard slasher story but with a really unique presentation. it's slow going and atmospheric but in a way that i didn't find dull at all. it has a found footage vibe without being found footage. i had to download it cuz the upload on 🧼 was all fucked up right at one of the most climactic kills (video froze causing significant desync). i already spoiled myself to it cuz i watched may leitz's video on it first but still, damn lmao

X (2022): couldn't finish it got 50 minutes in it was just fucking boring and too much sex like I knew they were porn stars but did there have to be that much explicit fucking before anything interesting happens zzzzzzz

Orphan: First Kill (2022): it was ok 👍

Longlegs (2024): I like mystery thrillers, I liked the music and sound design, there was some good tense creepy moments, Longlegs' performance was great, my only major gripe with it was the storytime exposition sucked lol, like all this buildup just to explain everything in a pretty cheap and hamfisted way, it felt very clunky

Horror in the High Desert 3: Firewatch (2024): it was ok, more of the same. i'm keeping up with the series because i'm intrigued by the mystery and i find some of the tapes tense and creepy. i don't think it's a bad series, but with the way it's broken up i wouldn't recommend it currently. like, there's gonna be like 2 or 3 more of these, and i feel like it would be a better experience binged like a mini series when they're all released instead of waiting a whole year between each crumb of unfolding mystery

I will say all the shell company and warehouse talk reminds me of spn season 7 and the Leviathan plans which to be fair, the Akrida's plans are basically the same. Both hungry, some type of shapshifting beings. Kinda wanna know which came first for Chuck, cuz we know the Leviathan are meant to have been genuine creature vs the Akrida who were deliberately made as fail safe plague.

Mary big mad this ep beginning and it's all because of her worry.

God I still love the Akrida design and I also adore their growls!!! Tho I add that the fact that they can feel pain but cannot be killed save for something out of this world is hella intriguing, feels like something a, to quote Chuck, "cruel, capricious God" would do.

I adore Carlos brain! They're soooo smart and it's constantly shown in all the subtle ways but it's so consistent throughout that I love it. And not just generally, but also emotionally speaking, especially highlighted in the scene with Mary. Putting the right blame on the shifters, being honest about dealing or not with their parents death and still succeeding in bringing Mary's spirit up.

Why would John be so shocked that Henry would've written something for the MoL? Henry was a MoL so it really shouldn't be that surprising that he wrote stuff down. I personally think it's because he chose not to ask more questions because it would've fucked with him too much and he couldn't handle it.

Millie in the Clubhouse! Finally! She's still too harsh, but this time I tend to give her tiny bit more benefit of the doubt since it's obvious being in the Clubhouse is bringing up all the very complicated feelings she has deliberately not dealt with about Henry. It's why she can go from mentioning love letters with a soft gentle loving tone one moment and then insulting Henry's chicken scratch and its supposed use in saving the world. She has dealt a lot more with her feelings about Henry these past... weeks months? since all the stuff began, especially having received a clear answer about where Henry disappear to (he died), but that in many ways likely made it so much more complicated because the anger hasnt gone away but now it feels almost unfair to aim it so much at someone that seems to have not had a choice in abandoning them as she initially thought. She's still mad tho, not just because of that but also because she was never allowing in by Henry, not really, and we learn later that he deliberately distanced himself from her as well so being invited to the Clubhouse is a huge step in slotting into place what she feels. It's also why I think she demands so staunchly to know exactly what's happening because last time she didn't, Henry died.

The implication that Samuel Campbell is messy from Mary gave me such a John's room in Pilot vibes. Love that parallel (read: hate)

The mention from the Akrida possessing Roxy bout Roxy's beauty is made sooo much worse by the later episode about her possession, but with it in my mind, it give such icky vibes now. Besides the sheer disregard about Roxy's life. It makes it even more clear how much humans are just things for the Akrida to use and discard whenever. And that will only be made more apparent in later episodes.

Interesting just for me I guess, but the fact that u just need to know the ingredients of a hex bag to find it, is sooo fun. I have so many questions.

I also love seeing Millie adjusting to the whole supernatural thing, her mind just going and her saying shit only to find out she might actually be onto something to them using her plan. Love that, especially love that it happens in connection to Ada. Millie and Ada have been pretty linked throughout the show so far, and I love that it's while Millie is talking to Ada, one of the few people who actually knew Henry and Henry allowed in, that she gets the idea she does. I also think it's very important that Ada does tell her the stuff Millie didnt know.

Ok, maybe controversial opinion here but I actually agree with Ada here, John is not closed off like Henry. He just isnt here. He is extremly reactive which means you will know what you get with him cuz he will make it clear, in a very bone headed way, sure , but it will be clear what he feels. There are of course things he doesn't disclose, but it aint about him being open, its just that he isnt closed off like Henry. Henry who his wife thought didnt even think of her or if he did it wasn't good terms at least toward the end, Henry who planted a protective plant for his family but never said anything about it. John, in spn, certainly does become closed off like that, id say he gets even more closed off but not this John, not yet and hopefully never. This john is just angry. Really angry, but it's still not the same insurmountable situation.

I kinda love that Millie sold her wedding ring, it makes sense on so many levels. 1. Shes a single mom with a business to run. 2. She s trying to distance herself from the pain Hwnry left her with. 3. She is very much a dont think about it and it'll not affect you denial stage of grief person.

It says shit about Millie that she didnt know john still had the music box all these years. It makes it clear which parts of John's life she paid attention to (or could allow herself to pay attention to) and which not.

I hate that they cant actually deal with any of the stuff because of the short window they have, but that's how things are right? both generally and def in the spn verse, you never have the space or time to actually confront the person thats traumatised you, not really, you just have small pockets of chances to process what happened in the middle of world ending events.

Fun fact, I rewatched Inside Man recently and the spell they use here to summon Henry is the exact same one Sam and Cas use to talk to Bobby in Heaven. And the fucking meaning always hurts me, cuz it calls onto dead loved ones to answers their calls/questions abd it feels like a prayer to me tbh. I also headcannon that the reason the spell works differently here is because Henry was still in the veil rather than in heaven, but ive nothing to substantiate that.

Once more Mary and John have such a genuine relationship tho, they really are honest with each other as often as they can because of the connection and similarities they felt when they first met and everything experienced since. Unlike their spn counterparts who were very much not honest about themselves.

I really love that John gets to hear Henry unequivocally say "it was my fault, not yours". It's so so important, both that Henry immediately owned up to it, and that he made sure to let John know first that it wasnt anything he did and that he wanted to explain everything.

I also wanna point out the immediate dif in Henry's demeanor once John mentions the Akrida aka work. Henry instantly compartmentalizes alll the feels he had about seeing John and getting to see Millie because he very much knows the importance. Better to have ur family alive even though you can't get closure than risk their lives just to explain yourself.

The paaaiiinnn, the emotionssss ahhhhh!! They can't get through everything they want to say but they make sure to say the things they need and my heart hurts now thx! Im very glad Millie got to see him though. It helped close another leaking wound in her. Damn this whole ep is Millie being put through the emotional wringer as much as John and Mary are. It prolly felt really good to hit the cop in the face with a bat after all that.

Love Mary's fighting advice. It shows she gets the urgency and the need to not linger on too long since the end goal isnt to kick ass, but to actually defeat the Akrida. Her hubting experience shows and her reason for doing this shows too.

I just know Lara wouldve had a field day if she couldve gotten that monster essence. So sad for her actually.

Also you know if Ada had been left to her own devices she wouldve followed Tragic Haircut and found the Akrida queens location. We've seen she can be very cutthroat when needed and her input wasn't really needed in the van, but it was needed to follow the Akrida. Thats what i think anyways. Millie for all her harshness, would never leave the kids behind. Shes suprising soft underneath it all, Ada is surpsingly cutthroat. Yay more parallel and contrasts between them.

Oh Mary, you were wrong there and it almost cost you dearly (just like how Dean going after Billie assuming shes thanosing people went wrong). Love the call back to their first meeting. Hate the despair vibes cuz ouch. Samuel to the rescue, congrats, you did the bare minimum. ( i am not a fan of Samuel and all the call backs to Spn!john only make it worse everytime, especially the heroic last second save when he's been mia and shitty throughout otherwise).

You know he's kinky as fuck, and not the vanilla kink either. He goes hard and I love this for him, and especially for Eris (see my fic: 3 Jewels In the Hewn City)

About Eris: He's just so good. He's done so much for his family to protect them, and he plays his role so well. This man is playing the game and he is playing it well. He will change the world for the better once he gets control of it. And he will be a cocky asshole the entire time in the best way. He is unapologetic in my favorite way. He fucks with fire in his veins and he holds nothing back.

anyway yeah aerospace/astronautical engineering is kind of a weird place to be :P it's kinda niche and the workload is insane, so people burn out quick and the ones who stick around actually enjoy it a little too much tbch. the vibes are a little weird because half of my classmates are like me and there because it's a long time special interest they're willing to commit several years to and the others are obsessed with military tech and really want to be a part of that development. and they're pleasant people to be around, like they're polite and stuff, but i have actually had a conversation with a classmate who told me (and i'm quoting here) "well, i'm not the one pulling the trigger, so i'm not responsible for anything." and his ideal career paths were working on stealth bombers or hypersonics :///// yikes. there's a reason we're not taught ethics especially since military contractors are the primary ones snapping us up for jobs right out of school. ironically though the actual rotc kids are the nicest of that bunch and tend to be super collaborative and friendly? but i'm not joking in one of my first year classes we took a poll of the group's favorite movies and i shit you not over 50% of the class said one of the two top gun movies and another 15% said interstellar X__X (mine is scott pilgrim btw cuz i have taste)

luckily the yippee creatures of the class are very aware of how fucked up the industry is and willing to talk about it so there's still hope. my personal strat is to make myself a very competitive candidate for a very niche subset of the industry without very many "defense" applications lol. :D especially since a lot of those "defense" jobs are in the middle of nowhere in like, texas and alabama and florida. so not exactly the greatest places for me to be. i'm super interested in ion thruster design and development and there's a couple of startups on the west coast that are working on that so i'm crossing my fingers. tbch i am so fed up with the actual industry that i'm genuinely considering going all-in on my online "content creator™" presence just to have some shot at avoiding it. i have been having an actual existential crisis for about 3 weeks wondering if i actually made the right choices in life

but yeah the actual workload will crush your will to live unless you actually enjoy it. my classes this semester consist of incompressible fluid dynamics, dynamics control systems, structural mechanics, numerical methods, and astronomical computer simulation development >_< i'm gonna dieeeee!! and probably need an insane glasses prescription by the end of the year with the amount of coding work i have to do. plus i'm trying to score a research position and finishing up a senior-level independent study lol AND this semester i'll be driving back and forth between school and home (which is three hours each way eugh) to go to concerts and shit with my dad, but hey free tix are free tix. so in case you were wondering why i barely draw anymore, this is my life now X__X alsoalso my faculty advisor for the independent study is nonbinary and giving me job advice! they're super cool i love them foreverrrr

as for my actual hands on experience i'll admit it's limited :PP mostly because it's super hard to score industry experience before the summer before junior year and i was in recovery the whole summer so i literally couldn't hold myself upright for more than a few minutes. but i've done a bunch of projects for classes + uni-funded ones too!! my biggest claim to fame (lol) is working on a three-stage rocket designed to fly to the karman line (which is the Super Official Divide Between The Atmosphere And Space™ lol). everything except our motor was built in-house and i worked on structural design and analysis, so my job consisted of

a) working on and approving cad models of each component before we sent them to the fabrication team,

b) stress-testing all parts the fab team sent us to ensure they were flight ready (there is a picture of me somewhere sitting on a chair precariously balanced on top of three sandbags on top of a giant tube filled with more sand and our nosecone, because sand under enough pressure puts a similar kind of stress on a nosecone as it experiences in flight),

c) fixing any uneven surfaces or manufacturing errors on our parts, and

d) doing so. much. documentation. i have to be totally honest, like 75% of aero/astro e is writing the most boring papers you will ever read in your life :[

and i also built a 3d cad model of the opportunity mars rover from scratch with only official promo pics and rover "selfies" and that thing crashed the lab computers twice and took a week's worth of 8 hour days in the lab + 3 all-nighters. fml but she was so worth it thooooo

There wasn't really a crowd at my show..and probably less than 10 people..there was us and another group and maybe two more people and we all sat different spots in the theater, and we had our own space..so it was like watching it at home in a way lol which is fine. hi hi! i really loved it! i saw it on friday with one of my best friends and it was really fun — i was able to trade some bracelets in the parking lot / by concessions / inside, and the vibes were really chill! there were a few people singing and dancing but the way our cinemas are sloped/tiered meant it didn't block people's views (i was also in the back row)! no one really did the chants though, which i was surprised by? and then on sunday i went with my mom and i didn't really trade bracelets ( gave a bunch to the cinemark employees though! ) because the vibes were ... different! but people on sunday were a lot more ... enthusiastic! all the chants, dancing, etc! my mom had fun though; she turned to me as we were leaving and asked if i'd want to go see the movie again with her which was really cute 🥺! people were really nice about my bracelets; a girl i traded with on friday told me later that evening that my bracelet was her favorite one she got that night and it made my day! the renee rapp show was fine — i was really on the fence on if i still wanted to go, honestly, but am glad i went ultimately! i didn't love her album as much as i did her EP, and i think that she's so so talented vocally but the way her music is produced doesn't always let her vocals shine, if that makes sense? a lot of people near me were a little ... 😵‍💫 though in terms of concert etiquette! i hope you like holly's album; i've been listening to that a lot since it came out (and finally got around to listening to the new boygenius last night). the mean girls musical is fun; i've never seen it live (i had tickets to see taylor louderman's second to last show but was ... hungover ... and ended up selling my ticket to a friend haha) but i think it could've been better/stronger! i was really excited for it, because i love what they did with legally blonde but was disappointed with some of the score for mean girls. a small part of me was hoping that sabrina would reprise her role as cady, because i really like what i heard of her cady, and was sad her time as cady got cut short!

wow!! that's not a lot of people! it was pretty packed at both showings, but i actually got tickets to see it on 10/27 with my mom again, and so far, it's just us and one other person in that cinema! i really liked this movie (incredibly salty about things that got cut though), but i got a little motion sick at some of the shots. but i get motion sick easily, so that's more on me haha! i got really really sad/emotional during specific scenes and was thinking a lot about seeing it in person and the memories i made during my shows. i think my favorite parts were really just seeing how my mom and my best friend reacted to different things (i made my mom watch the entire thing on youtube a few months ago & it was my best friend's first time watching it)! i think my favorite eras sets are still fearless, speak now and folklore though, but they're all just so good! what about you?

Be still! It’s very much that ki nd of vibe. I’m going to be referencing multiple eras for this one; rococo, medieval, renaissance, and industrial revolution (just for the hair styles mostly lol).

They’re a night sky elf, I kind of made it up but it’s also not that original but I’ll describe my ver. because lots of people n stories have starry characters. So in the sky realms, there’s day sky realm n night sky realm, she’s the latter. So she has a dark skin and freckles like the night sky!! Their hair is galaxy colored!~ She’s a witch, specializing in divination and potiondry. She also just has unique star / cosmos powers from being a night sky elf!

Hmmmmmm I haven’t even thought about holidays for this au!! Since she’s part human n is in the human realm a lot I feel like she’d love the autumn n winter holidays cuz a lot of it has to do with baking and she loves it n her mom runs a bakery! If I had to choose it’d be Valentine’s Day. She’s just a lover. She would probably make a Valentine for every person she’s ever met! This used to happen to me all the time, particularly in my knees. It got so bad and was so painful that I had to have surgery on both of them, so I understand the struggle anon. 

MC’s Joints Pop 

A bit of personal headcanon worldbuilding real quick:

I feel like demons and humans are way more (physically) different than anyone realizes

This obviously includes demon stuff like wings, tails, and horns

But humans have weird things about them that demons had no clue about until MC shows up 

One of these things is the concept of joint popping, and this plays into the following headcanon a lot 

Basically, demons don’t really pop their joints, and if they do it’s usually super painful and a sign something is broken or injured 

Lucifer 

Probably one of the only brothers who knew humans popped their joints 

Say what you want about him, but he does his research 

However, even he couldn’t predict just how much you did it

Every time you stood up, he could hear your back joints pop before you moved on like it’s nothing 

It sounds so painful, and yet here you are, just vibing 

He’s honestly impressed, even if he won’t say so out loud 

Asks you a lot of questions about it, but pretends it’s just information for the exchange program cause he’s too prideful to admit his curiosity 

If you’re double jointed or can just pop a joint out of socket at will, he freaks out for a second but pretends he already knew you could do that 

Mammon 

He screams the first time he hears your joints pop 

Straight up thinks you’re broken or something 

You have to explain to him that it’s a normal human thing 

Doesn’t believes you at first and tries to call Lucifer to get you some medical help 

Once you finally get it through his thick skull. he eases up a little bit, but he’s still not completely convinced 

It only gets worse if you can pop joints at will 

Like, even the slightest double jointed-ness or flexibility will send him into orbit out of fear and amazement 

Also tries to recreate some of the stuff you do, so please stop him before he actually hurts himself 

Leviathan 

He saw it in an anime once, but he didn’t think it was real 

Like, he thought it was just made up for that specific anime, so he’s amazed to see you can do it too 

A little grossed out at first, especially if it’s audible popping, but gets used to it pretty quickly

He’s weirdly fascinated by it but refuses to admit it

You know how everyone has that one thing that they’re super grossed out by but you’re also lowkey obsessed with it?

Popping joints is that thing for him 

Gets even more impressed if you can popped any joints at will, and might ask you to do it sometimes 

Satan

Also knew about it beforehand 

He probably has the most (correct) knowledge of weird human quirks, so he was prepared 

Very intrigued by your joints and ask sa ton of questions 

Of course, it’s purely for research and not at all for anything else 

If you can pop any joints at will, you’ll most likely become his lab rat or something 

He’s run whole experiments around your joints 

Tries to get you to pop your joints in front of Lucifer in the hopes of freaking him out a bit 

 It doesn’t work 

Asmodeus 

He’s certainly the most flexible out of the brothers, but even that’s not much compared to the average human 

After his initial freak out over hearing your joints pop, he becomes a bit jealous at how flexible humans can be 

It only gets worse if he finds out you’re double-jointed or just really flexible by human standards

There’s no doubt that he’s grossed out by the idea of joints popping, especially the more audible pops

But, like Levi, he also as a morbid fascination with it 

Asks you a ton of questions about it also also tries to test out how well your joints work 

And if you happen to be super flexible, he’ll ask if he can test that out as well *wink*

Beelzebub

He really doesn’t care that much 

Just writes it off as another weird human thing and moves on 

Gets kinda concerned if it happens excessively though 

Like, if it happens more than once a day, he may start to freak out a bit 

Might think you’re lowkey broken and ask you about it just to make sure 

Once you assure him you are indeed not broken, he goes back to his unbothered state 

Occasionally checks in just to be sure you’re fine, but doesn’t bring it up besides that 

Finds it impressive if you’re double jointed or super flexible since he’s never seen that sort of thing before 

Although, he is one of the more athletic brothers, so he might be a little flexible at least

So like I mentioned on the other post this partially came about cuz I read some "Akari isn't fully human/has some sort of prophet/changeling/divine aspect energy" fics and so in the AU she gets properly isekai-ed and while is still mostly human, she's def like human+ or something cuz whatever Arceus did to send her back Mixed Things Up A Bit, but at the beginning it mostly manifests as her having some weird vibes sometimes, staring off into space, saying strange things occasionally, and being ridiculously good with/drawn to pokemon. (Doesn't start getting Freaky until they're in Hisui and the rift happens.)

So yeah she gets touched by the divine and loses her memory and all that, and then gets dumped on Laventon when he's like 24-25 and only just starting his own personal research in Hoenn, and since he can't find anyone who knows Akari(and starts to assume given how she's dressed weird and getting stares and fell out of the sky he's not going to) he's like well guess I'm keeping her and brings her along with him while he travels, which ofc leads to the "congrats, you're a dad now!" found family stuff.

I don't have much of a plot beyond that yet but boy do I have ideas so!!

He ends up buying Akari galarian-style clothes in Slateport(where he arrived and there are merchants from lots of different places) because she can't keep wearing her Weird Future Clothes and figures if she looks like she came from the same place he did they won't attract as much unwanted attention. Unfortunately the only clothes he can find don't fit her super well so for the first year or so with him she's dressed like a bit of a disaster.

Tho because I am a SAP I did want her to have a sweater that kinda matches his that they found because she got attached to him Real Quick and pointed it out when they were shopping. (It is also too big but she loves it and once she grows out of it she is Big Sad)

Akari loving pokemon is absolutely a double edged sword because sure Laventon also likes pokemon and is as happy to ramble about them for hours as she is to listen, but this is also the Past and she's like seven and small children don't mix super well with Dangerous Wild Animals. Ofc she always ends up okay but does give Laventon a severe heart condition.

And he actually ends up being a bit overprotective once they get to Hisui and Akari is old enough to join the survey corps. Which ofc she desperately wants to do more than anything else. Thankfully it doesn't take much for him to see he's being unreasonable and he's absolutely super proud when Akari blasts through the first trial like it's nothing, and super emotional when he sees how happy she is. And maybe he cries a little when she gets to try on her uniform for the first time. And he takes lots of pictures like a dad on their kid's first day of school. Bcs I said so.

Laventon is absolutely weak to Akari's puppy dog eyes(poochyena eyes??) tho. 90% accuracy, high critical hit chance, always super effective.

Akari ends up learning to speak Galarian because when she finds out that he speaks a different language she spends like a week demanding to know the names of everything until Laventon, as much as he thinks it's cute, just Can Not anymore and starts teaching her the alphabet and making little worksheets to distract her so he can get his own work done.

She starts calling him 'papa' pretty quickly and at first he doesn't correct her but still feels bad cuz he's very well aware of the fact that he's Not Her Real Dad, and it doesnt click until like a year after finding her something happens, like she gets really sick or scared idk yet, and she calls him that and he's like "Oh, wait no I'm actually dad now oh man okay" which makes him have a mini crisis before accepting that he's more than okay with it.

Akari still get blamed for the sky turning red thing and exiled, because despite meeting her way earlier in this au Kamado still is picking up on Akari's ~vibes~ and the things about her story that don't add up, but Laventon goes with her because ofc he does. (Also fun angsty bit if we add surveyshipping to the AU I think Cyllene and Laventon would agree that she stays to keep an eye on the village and Rei, while he goes with Akari, which could DEF make Akari feel mad guilty for splitting them up on top of all the Bad Time Feels she's already having.)

Akari does withdraw a lot as she tries to figure out who and what she is and what her place is, but in the end she gets to meet Arecus again and figures it all out(I'm kinda thinking she died in her previous life and got a little Weird when Arceus grabbed her, made her not dead, and dropped her out of the sky but idk for sure yet), at which point she goes home to Jubilife Village and Laventon and Cyllene and everyone because that's where she decides she belongs. (And she probably helps Ingo get home cuz she's not just gonna sit by and accept him being stuck.)

anyway that's what I've got so far and I have absolutely already written a few little scenes out because I am in fact obsessed with this AU!! I just love me some single dad of weird child shenanigans and the potential for feels is off the charts and am always down to talk about it uwu
