he feels his blood go cold, and he feels pressure wash over him.. he tries not to cry or choke up when he speaks.

he has to act like a gentleman. he needs to be understanding. he needs to be the strong one because you're sitting on the floor and crying, apologizing and hiding your face in your hands.

your sobs and shaky form hurts him more. he knows it's not your fault. it's his, in all honesty.

he left you so cruelly 5 years ago, and even though you've been together for a year and shared many happy moments with hushed giggles and loving kisses, you couldn't find the same love for him as when you were young.

baxter tries not beat himself up, pushing down his darker minds degrading chorus...

he puts a hand on your head, smoothing his palm over his pants. his palm hurts from digging his nails into it.

tonight is going to be rough. tomorrow will be harder.

"it's okay y/n. we had a good time together right?" baxter smiles. although the thickness of his voice makes you tuck in on yourself more.

he continues soothing you, ignoring the tears in his eyes. "i understand... we're so different now, it's not surprising it didn't work."

baxter's humorless and watery laugh makes you cry more, and you know he's crying now too. "we should stop looking back on the past now." baxter pets your head, trying to milk the last bit of affection from your dying relationship.

he feels like his world is opening up.

you turn your face away and wipe roughly at your tears. you know you look like a mess, but you feel so overwhelmed, and you have enough shame to not want to face baxter.

you finally look up at him, baxter lifting his gaze from his knees to look at you, glazed amber staring back at you. your heart clenches.

even though you don't love him the same way anymore, this kills you all the same.

"i'll... get my stuff tomorrow." you whisper.

cove was torn when you got with baxter.

he's always loved you, and when you still pined for baxter even after that summer, he got accustomed to putting his feelings aside to let your relationship grow.

but now you were sitting on his couch, looking distant at his fish tank.

your eyes were blurred with tears, and it took everything to curl yourself into the corner of the couch.

"y/n?..."

cove goes to call out again- "yeah?" you mutter, your words tiny and soft. weak. forced.

"what can i do for you?" cove wanted to gather up all your pain and take it away. so that the only thing left was for you to be happy.

...

you lick your lips, fixing your feet that were sliding off the cushion.

"i don't know. nothing for now." you turn and try to smile. "this is okay for now, i'm sorry for bugging you i..."

you swallow. "i don't wanna be alone right now."

cove comes closer, wrapping his arms around you, hiding your face in his neck. "i don't mind, i'll always be here for you."

it's silent for a long moment, the only sound being the TV cove didn't turn off at your insistence.

less sound meant your thoughts were louder.

you focused on the trickling water of the tank and it suddenly made you aware of how dry you were after crying.

you wrestle your arm free from the blankets and cove's hold, and you feel him watching your every move.

after drinking half the glass, you lean into cove's chest and take in the sound of his heartbeat.

cove is the only thing that keeps your head from spinning and the world from crashing.

you huff. this is frustrating. you're frustrated with everything, mostly with yourself.

"do you... wanna talk now?" cove inquires gently, rambling about how you don't have to but it might help.

you don't say anything for a bit, tracing the waves and lines of cove's tattoo.

"..even though i pined for him for so long..." you start, slowly letting the words come to you. "i thought this was it, i thought i was over him leaving me. but..."

you start to cry, so you sit up to turn around, hiding your face in your hands.

"i spent so long being sad that.."

"i spent so long being angry that.."

"i spent so long being angry then sad and missing him that.."

you swallow, muttering. "that i didn't even realize when i stopped loving him..."

it's quiet. and you don't look up to see if cove heard, but you assume he did since he asks a interesting question...

"then.. why are you so sad? i mean i get it, but..." cove groans, trying to word his thought carefully and correctly.

"i'm sorry.. it just seems like you're upset about something else, too..."

you exhale shakily, despising the tears still pouring from your eyes.

you take in what cove asked, debating what to say before you speak. "i thought this was what i wanted, but now i..." you start crying, overwhelmed.

cove just pulls you back into him, deciding that was enough talking for tonight, and now it was just about cheering you up.

it's been a few months, things are... different. some days are difficult. but most of them are better, just a bit mellow.

it took a bit, but your new apartment finally feels like home, and you can sit in the silence and solitude of it without feeling like your chest is caving in.

at least for today.

you and cove laugh, falling onto your new mattress after finally getting it through the door.

after the giggles die down, you flip over and look at cove. "thanks for helping."

cove turns his head to smile at you, "nah. derek did most the work."

you whip around to look at cove, who has a smug grin on his face. "what? that's the second time you've said that! what does it even mean?!" you exclaim, slapping cove's chest with the back of your hand.

he laughs joyously, "like you're thinking philosophical thoughts!"

you roll your eyes, "ooo big words there, ocean boy. wouldn't you like to know about my philosopher thoughts." you mock, teasing cove with a grin you don't bother to fight coming across your lips.

"yep." cove pops the 'p', simply agreeing that he wants to know what's on your mind.

you watch each other in silence, and your eyes fall on his lips and he parts them to speak but you beat him to it, muttering lowly and if it wasn't for the emptiness and tranquility around you, he wouldn't have heard it.

"i'm thinking about how pretty you are..."

cove stills, you can hear his breath hitch and he stops breathing for a moment.

you continue, letting the water flow now that you've opened the gates.

"i know you've always had a crush on me, and please don't think i'm playing with you.." you swallow, keeping eye contact so as to will yourself to go on, although the depths of cove's glassy eyes make you flatter a bit.

you curl your fingers into your palms, keeping yourself from petting his cheek.

"at some point i started to.. realize just how much you are there for me. and i.." you lick your lips, "i love you."

cove starts to cry, and to that he sits up to hide his face.

you sit up as well, reaching out to cove's back. you don't know if you should touch him or not...

he cries for a bit. eventually, you do reach out, curling your fingers in the fabric of his shirt. you can't bring yourself to come closer, not sure how to comfort cove or if you even should, but you want him to know you're still here and waiting.

waiting for what? you're not sure.

waiting for him to seek your comfort? waiting for him to reject you? either way, you're waiting, and he turns around when he finally stops the waterworks.

"y-you mean it?" cove chokes, and you nod.

"yeah." you whisper, like any louder approval and it'll come off as half-hearted.

he pauses for a moment, looking at you. searching your gaze and trying to pick your brain apart.

"did you... break up with baxter because you...?" he can't say it, like he's not allowed to. like if he says it, it might shatter.

"love you?" you finish, "no. breaking up with baxter had nothing to do with you or my feelings for you."

"good, good..." cove repeats, sagging a bit in relief. "can i ask you one last question?"

"anything, cove." you assure, antsy to what will come out of his mouth. maybe this is all leading to rejection, but at least he'll know you loved him.

"you aren't saying that because i helped you through your breakup, right?" cove approaches softly. he doesn't mean to offend you, and you take none.

"no!" you lean forward, snatching up cove's hands. "i didn't say it right earlier.. what i meant was, i stopped seeing you as just a friend." you fret a bit, softening as you think about how you see cove now.

"i was hung up on what i couldn't have with baxter, and i know it sounds bad, but once i realized i was living in my head too much and didn't even know what i was feeling until after the fact.."

you intertwine your hands with cove's, looking up at him. "i realized life was so much better than in my head, and there was, is, someone greater than i could ever imagine."

you don't realize it until cove reaches up to wipe some tears from your cheeks. you laugh, "you're crying too, dummy."

cove laughs, holding your hand against his cheek.

"i've been waiting so long to hear you say that." cove cringes, "well... maybe too long. you're so hard to get over, i could never do it..."

cove looks at you with affectionate eyes.

"does this mean..?" you question, a bit egear but holding your horses.

cove laughs and nods. "yeah. i love you too, y/n."

you beam, taking his face in your hands and resting your foreheads together. "we'll take it slow, if it helps."

cove flushes, feeling a bit bold and is flustered by the fact. "not too slow, i've been waiting almost 17 years for this."

cove is the one to close the gap, swallowing your words before you can tease him, laugh, or agree.

you let him, letting cove pull you down to earth again and into him, as he always does.

ahhh, i gotcha. i honestly haven't thought too much about how !fratboy chris would go about a relationship and titles simply because my inspiration for writing for him first came from @/sturnioz (idk if she'd like to be tagged in these but check her out!!) so i more so went in the direction of simply writing for a mean !fratboy chris based off her vision.

however, i think a more thought-out version of him on my part and not solely based on her take would probably have him be a bit softer, so i could probably write something with this. lemme think abt it. :) i have a couple other prompts to get out of the way, but i will be working on this!

I did check out that fic you mentioned, "But Someone Must Bear the Yoke" by inkpot_demigod. I've read the first chapter, and it seems wonderful and beautifully written. The concept of the minotaur being literal is intriguing. But I don't see myself continuing the fic.

I don't engage much with the patho fandom as a whole, I rarely read the fics or look at the posts. I even have the tags filtered out on tumblr. Which is a shame this fandom seems much sweeter than more toxic ones I've been in, but that's just what I do when I started creating for any fandom. Be it memes or writing. I did it with Bg3 and mass effect.

All my impressions of the characters come from playing P1 and P2. Reading the wiki or old dev posts sometimes. It is isolating in a way I won't lie, but it solves a different problem my brain struggles with, and hey, if it works, it works. Part of me also dreads falling into their fanon versions and not being able to dig myself out, I had a completely different view on Isidor before discovering the fanon version, and now I just feel sad. No one in pathologic is completely without sin, and despite all of Isidor's actions, he held such immense love for his son. His only remaining son which was the reason his wife passed away, he could've loathed Artemy for his mother passing away in childbirth but he didn't. He adored him above everything. It is also sad that Artemy's older brother isn't mentioned more, especially since people from the town do remember him. Katerina confuses Artemy for Ersher in their first meeting.

However, two wonderful people in the fandom did reach out to me, and we talk on occasion. Sometimes, we share pathologic ideas, and I credit them for inspiration on the writing/posts they influence. Firebird and Torse.

I'm glad you liked that author's fic that much! Do leave them a comment and describe your thoughts, I'm sure it will cheer them up reading it. Maybe check some of their lesser known fics and comment there, too? I know it makes me sad when one of my fics blows up in a fandom, but my other ones get ignored. It almost makes me resent my popular fics. Popularity in a fandom is a double edge sword fr-

In terms of other ships like this I can offer GhostFrank, which is the Ghostface from dead by daylight with one of the other in game killers. Proceed with caution, there’s a lot of dark themes with them, and a lot of fics with them deal with some real fucked up stuff so read the tags carefully. But I’d recommend this fic “Two of a kind” if you want to check them out. I actually started writing them before I wrote debaser, I just never finished it or published it.

Hannibal/Will Graham would be another, although I haven’t read much fic with them, but the show is incredible and I know lots of people write for them.

Otherwise if you like wlw stuff too I would suggest Jennifer/Needy from Jennifer’s Body or Eve/Villanelle from Killing Eve.

And hey don’t worry I have lots of plans to keep writing these two, I’m not done with them. I’m actually really pumped for the Sequel I have planned, I’m already writing little bits of it and I haven’t even finished debaser 😅

I saw Your Tags so would you expand on the Bellamy denied Story Line thing?

I think the biggest problem and something that people failed to see in season 7 because they were so focused on the OOC aspect (which I disagree strongly with) is that it’s not about Cadogan or the cult or what they believe in. Frankly, they could believe in shit catching light which kinda is what they believed in, and it would’ve been fine and it IS fine, what the problem is the way the story line and the characters threat Bellamy Blake.

And that is that everyone, absolutely everyone puts him up to high fucking standards that he is not required to fulfill and is not supposed to live up to.

Let’s just dig into it for a moment:

Bellamy chooses to believe Transcedence and that it will bring peace to his people.

I don’t see absolutely anything wrong with that. Frankly, it’s what they’ve been trying to achieve since season 1 (when they wanted to get to the see AWAY FROM WAR and live AT PEACE MIND YOU, anyone remember that????)

(P.S He ends up being absolutely right about the Transcendence thing anyway and that IS the end of the entire SL-it as a choice and the people who chose against it for whatever reason)

So he belives in it.

And he tries to follow it.

And what happens?

His best friend/romantic interest-Judges him

His sister-judges him

His gf/ex-gf-Judges him

ALL OF HIS FRIENDS WHO HE FOUGHT FOR AND KEPT ALIVE ON THE RING FOR FIVE YEARS MINUS EMORI HERE I WOULD SAY-JUDGE HIM

It’s not just that they condemn his choice.

It’s that they REFUSE to understand it. Absolutely refuse to understand it.

And here comes the thing-as much as they can not understand it, they should at least respect it. 

THEY NEED TO ALLOW BELLAMY BLAKE to have a LIFE of his own A CHOICE of his own, something he has NEVER EVER EVER EVER had in his life.

EVER.

I mean it-EVER.

He didn’t have a choice when his mom put his sister in his arms at seven, he didn’t have a choice when he came to earth because it was the only choice because he had to protect her, he didn’t have a choice when Clarke left after Mount Weather and then we have a small interruption in season 3

that AGAIN he makes a choice of his own (wrong or right not the point here) to follow PIke and yes he makes a mistake but it is because he wants to protect the people he loves and stop the killings (SOUNDS FAMILIAR? HE WANTS PEACE IN SEASON 7 OH-WAIT?

and then is judged for it again even though nobody else is judged at the same grade for the mistakes besides Clarke and even then she had him in her corner and it was good because he had her in his corner in season 3 but not in season 7 frankly

another surpirse mind you

so he makes a choice in season 3 and the narrative punishes him for it, rightfully or wrongfully so it’s on our minds and consciousness to decide. it is the beauty of the show i believe-to love or hate people who make wrong choices that all of the characters do multiple times.

and then he’s beaten up for it and half of his sl in season 3 is not explained, his choices are NOT explained, his decisions are NOT explained, his scenes are cut off and the rest of it is spend on all characters beating up Bellamy for 2 seasons.

And on and on-at the end of season 4 he makes the choice to leave Clarke to save them all-is it really a choice again? I don’t think so. As much as hers to destroy the mountain I believe.

And in season 6 his choice is to save the person that he loves and put everyone else in danger.

Mostly, he hasn’t had any choices. And if he had he was put in impossible situations like Clarke has which fine, as I said that’s the story.

But, throughout it all, he has NOT made a choice for HIMSELF, for his OWN benefit, a choice to LIVE for HIMSELF.

He hasn’t.

We as a fandom always wanted that or at least those of us bellamy stans who didn’t hate on bellamy and instead tried to understand him instead of calling it OOC. Because we knew, we knew it’s not him, it’s the way it was written.

The SL denies Bellamy Blake everything-his own life most of all.

And it denies him explanation and background for the choices he makes and the life he has in time jumps.

Starting with season 3 and the time jump-we never know the trauma he went to and the thoughts he had to process when Clarke was gone, the PTSD he surely suffered (that is shown in Clarke but not in him? somehow? as if he ain’t a person who can feel things but just a means to an end). And then it proceeds to the lack of explanation when it comes to joining Pike, even the massacre which I think should’ve been showed to show his remorse and refusal to kill all grounders and then it proceeds and is at its worse form in season 5

when we jump into a Head! prevailing more than heart!prevailing Bellamy and we don’t have the explanations for it or how the transitioned happened or what ever he went through for a small part of those 6 years.

he is DENIED that.

Story wise he is denied.

The worst is that he is JUDGED even though he is denied that.

By Clarke by his sister by the other characters and I hate most of all even Jordan saying in season 6-Heart Bellamy that was my favorite Bellamy.

Like shut the fuck up.

He’s not just heart or head Bellamy-he is Bellamy who learned to survive on that Ring the same way Clarke learned to survive in those 3 months after Mount Weather.

He is STILL Bellamy, no different, just a little more reserved, a little smarter, a little sad even, because he lost his best friend, someone we know now he loved and it changed him forever.

And the same thing happens in season 7 where yes we got the explanation as to HOW he got to believe this which I think is great still, and I think Aurora’s moment with him in the cave was MORE THAN NECESSARY and has been necessary for the past 7 years. But he is judged for what he chose to believe, he is judged for the life he chooses for himself

which is a life of peace.

and THAT is the problem. All the characters, they judge him, they hate him, they KILL him and then they say-oh but Bells was sad all this time so yk, I mean he died it makes sense.

SHUT UP.

He’s been sad all his life. He didn’t deserve to live his life for everyone else only for EVERYONE ELSE TO REFUSE TO LIVE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE FOR HIM.

THEY COULD’VE OFFERED LOVE.

IF NOT AT LEAST UNDERSTANDING

IF NOT-AT LEAST LEAVE HIM THE FUCK ALONE

and considering he ended up being right they sure af ended up betraying the one person who never ever condemned them like this, who always saw things from more than one perspective when it came to his friends choosing things for themselves, who yes might’ve been angry that clarke left but understood, who yes didn’t like the person his sister became, but still loved her when he should’ve been pissed off for years, who offered love and friendship and udnerstanding to clarke when all of the friends she ends up living the rest of her life with hated her mere weeks ago.

And that

once again im saying that

is the tragedy of living.

and a gd awful way of the writers crushing your face into the gravel of reality.

so no, it’s not about whether or not the SL makes sense, whether or not it’s a good or bad one-was ALIE that great? no, but we all took it, this could’ve been taken too, it is about what HE is DENIED as a character.

And it is also about us as a fandom and our blatant refusal to understand this and condemn him the way his friends, the other characters, do.

That is also another tragedy.
